In 1998, death row inmate Rodney Reed was convicted of raping and killing 20-year-old Stacey Stites. Nearly 20 years later Reed remains hopeful as his execution date nears just a few weeks from now on Nov. 20. His case has received national attention after celebrities like Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna and Meek Mill have called on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to stop the execution.
“One day at a time,” Reed told NBC’s Ron Allen.

Sign this petition and free #RodneyReed Reposted from @angelarye (@get_regrann) - The State of Texas is scheduled to execute #RodneyReed on November 20, 2019 for the murder of Stacey Stites and we must act now. Evidence supports Reed’s innocence, yet DNA testing has been denied. According to the @naacp, Black people make up 13 percent of the population, but we make up 42 percent of death row and 35 percent of the executions. We must stand with #RodneyReed and fight for justice. #FreeRodneyReed and sign the petition TODAY @ www.freerodneyreed.com! - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/B4cuci5JONS/?igshid=1s2dj4s4ccjx3

This man must NOT DIE!!! Posted @withrepost • @wonderwombman There is a growing movement to #FreeRodneyReed before he’s executed this month. Rodney Reed, who is scheduled to be executed later this month, has spent the past two decades on death row for a murder he says he did not commit. Now, a new witness has come forward claiming that it was the victim’s fiancé, a former police officer, who killed the woman, not Reed. The new information has shed light on what many criminal justice advocates say is a case of another black man caught up in a system that was stacked against him. On October 30, Reed’s lawyers and the Innocence Project, a nonprofit organization for criminal justice reform, filed an application for clemency with the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles following the sworn affidavit of Arthur Snow, who says ex-officer Jimmy Fennell confessed to the murder of Stacy Stites when the two men were in prison together. In addition to Snow’s testimony, several other witnesses have come forward with similar stories around Fennell and his disdain for his fiancé, who he suspected was sleeping with a black man behind his back. Reed has long admitted to having been in a romantic relationship with Stites, but at the time of the trial, no witness would corroborate the affair. Now, Stites’s cousin and a former coworker have both said the two were involved, according to the Innocence Project. The organization also claims that there were forensic problems with the investigation and points out that Reed was convicted by an all-white jury. Even though the urgency of Reed’s case continues to spread, it remains to be seen if advocates and celebrities have the power to sway Abbott. Reed’s execution is now only three weeks away. Posted @withrepost • @signsofthemarch #RodneyReed is 50 years old. He's been incarcerated for 7,829 days. That's 23487 meals eaten away from his family. 187,896 minutes inhaling the artificial air of a prison facility. . In 16 days - In 384 minutes - In 23,040 seconds - the State of #Texas is going to kill him. He will breathe one last time on November 20th. . . He's being accused of killing a white, 19-year old fiancee named Stacey. Her fiance was a local police officer named Jimmy. She was having an affair with Rodney. That's why his DNA was found on her body. She'd been strangled with a belt. Rodney was found guilty by an all-white jury. He didn't do it. . . In the years that Rodney has been sitting in jail, new testimony and evidence have emerged that Jimmy not only threatened to kill Stacey if she ever left him, but he's since served time for raping another woman. While incarcerated on that (new) rape charge, hoping to gain the trust of the Aryan Brotherhood, Jimmy told a fellow inmate, '‘I had to kill my [racial slur]-loving fiancé,' He also failed 2 lie detector tests at the time of Stacey's murder. The State of Texas has repeatedly refused to retry the case, or grant a stay of execution. . . Our system of #massincarceration is unjust on a good day. On the days - in the hours - that we kill people whose innocence is in question - is a burden we must all collectively bear. To that, there's a link in our bio to a petition by @innocenceproject Please sign. Please share this post. Please add your voice to the many who are calling for justice to be properly served. . I’ve called & also sent an email to support clemency for Rodney Reed. We grow tired, we grow back into spaces EVERYTHING around us was built to ENSLAVE (mentally, physically, spiritually) US by. And mainly, we know how many situations have presented themselves as impossible to pass through yet when 2 or 3 gathered to help, we’ve moved mountains. Let’s do it again. I pray this finds the heart & pulls! ♥️

Victory. Rodney Reed gets a stay of execution. The next step is to get him another trial. This man has been in jail for 22 years for a crime he did not commit. He was framed by a racist system. Let’s get him out of jail for good.

Next Wednesday, Rodney Reed is scheduled to be executed, despite overwhelming evidence that he didn’t commit any crime. Help us stop this by signing the petition at www.FreeRodneyReed.com. PS: Why do we even still execute people? The system has proven itself to be flawed and often racially unjust… #RodneyReed #FreeRodneyReed #CapitalPunishment is flawed #DeathPenalty #JusticeForRodneyReed (at Nikkolas Design) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4sUVCxliKJ/?igshid=wu8zej4zcxk8

Please read the information and sign this petition! Forensic evidence is being ignored. It’s another case of racism. Rodney Reed deserves a fair trial. Please reblog as well!

#Repost @shaunking with @get_repost ・・・ Yesterday a lot of you asked me why @kimkardashian was on TV so much talking about Rodney Reed getting a stay of execution instead of me, and I said something flippant to the effect of “Because she likes being on TV and I like doing the work.” That was only partly true. She does like being on TV and I do like doing the work, but my friends at the @innocenceproject let me know today that behind the scenes Kim is actually starting to do the work. And I’m glad about that. Also, I don’t think she’s clout-chasing. I was fully convinced that she’s sincere in her efforts. Rodney’s family told me so themselves. I just wanted to make this clear. — #teamwork #freerodneyreed #rodneyreed #justice #deathrpw #resist https://www.instagram.com/p/B5EbcCvnibh/?igshid=1bfvqycrfjz1t
