#Shaman King E (not real)

So not last night but the night before that I had a dream that was viewed through my eyes that was just me watching an anime, but I'm gonna talk about the dream anime.
So before I get into that, ya'll remember Devilman Crybaby on Netflix that got popular for a hot minute a few years ago? So that was based on a manga by Go Negai BUT also had this... spinoff(?) Called Devilman Lady. I say "Spinoff(?)" Because how I would describe DML would be more of a reimagining of the premise of Devilman, rather than just a "What if Devilman but girl??" They are two different but similar stories by the same author as AUs spawning off of the same premise kinda?
So back to my dream. The anime I was watching was a Shaman King spinoff(?) In the same vein that devilman lady was to devilman. It was called Shaman King E (I think the E stood for 'Exorcist' because the word was used several times in the episode that was my dream) and was akin to "instead of being a battle manga, what if Shaman King stuck to those early chapters from the manga where Yoh and Manta were just doing small scale personal paranormal stuff? But also mix in a little bit of pre-battle manga Yuyuhakusho (spirit detective stuff) and Ghost Stories (REMEMBER THAT DUB?! THE BEST WORST DUB EVER?!? THAT GHOST STORIES.)... but also girls??"
So you now have an anime about 2 teenage girls, one is interested in the occult and a magnet for the paranormal, the other from a long line of Shaman and exorcists, spending a period of time solving super natural mysteries as an almost episodic horror comedy series.
The dream was literally a whole episode. Will reblog with summary of dream episode and visual figures along with what 'dream me' knew about about the series from reading the 'dream manga' that didn't appear in the dream.

Giggling in the Graveyard
Tumblr media
A chill ran up Manta's spine as he heard it again. That soft laugh echoing on the wind. He hadn't seen anybody when he came here to this cemetary ahead of Yoh but since Ghosts were real who knew what could be done anymore. He'd snuck in as quietly as he could to try and get a look at who Yoh was fighting in the next Shaman King fight. His friend would need all the help he could get with that laid-back attitude he had. However since entering this graveyard Manta hadn't seen a soul but had constantly heard that soft snickering between the headstones. .
He thought he'd finally found the source of it and peeked from behind a cross to just about faint dead-away at the sight before him. There was some silly dressed foreigner in a wheelchair who was waving his arms in obvious distress as A FREAKING SKELETON molested him! Manta only caught himself from shrieking like a little girl at the last second but he still let out enough of a gasp that the bony monster turned towards the noise and started loping over to investigate. Manta scrambled over behind another grave marker but couldn't do so silently and as such the spooky boi followed him closely. He managed to get a little bit of distance between himself and it at the next one, and even more at the next one as he worked his way towards the man in the wheelchair. He grabbed the man's chair by the handles and prepared to wheel himself and this idiot to safety when the chair didn't move an inch.
"Quick! Let the brake go and let's get out of here!!!"
"But then I'd miss my Shaman Fight opponent and be disqualifed, besides Eliza should be back any second!"
A skeletal hand on Manta's shoulder made Manta's eyes go wide and he passed out shortly after. Faust regarded the sight of the small man slumping to his knee's with great curiosity until he heard a clattering as Eliza suddenly collapsed.
"Eliza!" He exclaimed in a panic before Manta suddenly rose up and placed a hand on his chest to keep him seated.
"I am here, my love. Do not worry I have just taken a temporary vessel" the mouth saying this was Manta's but the voice coming out was like music to Faust VIII as it had been so long since he'd heard his beloved speak.
"My sweet it has been so long! What made you choose to do something like this?!"
Eliza/Manta showed no indication of listening to Johann and instead knelt on the cobblestones before his chair and began tugging on one of the man's boots. He didn't resist whatsoever despite his confusion at her actions and as such the footwear came off quickly and easily in her tiny hands.
"For so long I have watched you on your quest to restore me and not once have I seen the smile of yours that first struck me in the heart. You used to smile constantly Johann and now instead I couldn't tell you the last time I heard you laugh."
Manta's tiny hands quickly undid the wrappings around the man's foot and let them pool on the ground before watching a strong breeze of graveyard air take it. He looked to Faust's size 8 foot and saw him flex his toes in reaction to the same gentle air. His tiny finger traced the ugly stitch going through the man's arch. Eliza knew what that was of course and remembered what had happened to the couples first dog. It hadn't been the animal's fault of course but it had still taken a chunk out of her poor caring Johann who'd lied to the Polizei about it to save it's life.
It had also started her poor doomed husband on the path of "self-improvement" he was still upon. One portion of the skin of the foot was a noticeably different color then the rest culminating in the littlest toe on Faust's foot not matching it's four brothers pallid tone at all. She scratched lightly at the stem of the little odd duck and smirked at the squeak that had slipped from it's blue-lipped owner in the chair.
"Kehe...pfehhe...E-Eliza I-"
"Hush, my love, I am enjoying the memories. Do you recall when you first showed me this foot of yours and what you'd done to it? You operated on yourself here with no anesthesia but the second my nails touched this skin you were like a boy back in school. I wonder if each of your stitches are as ticklish?"
"E-Eliza ho-how is this ha-happening?!"
The ghostly Manta plucked at each of the laughing man's toes while shrugging his slight shoulders. The blonde slumped in his wheelchair and wiggled his digits slightly to an appreciative coo from his ghostly fiance.
"Would that I could answer, my dear. Perhaps somewhere there are a group of powerful shaman burning mana at a high rate? That could be it and it might explain why your opponent for the Shaman fight has still yet to arrive. Though from what I can find in this boy's memories this Asakura doesn't seem to be very reliable. He very well could be here any minute though so we should spend our time wisely Johann. He will wish this boy's body returned to him."
Manta/Eliza snapped their fingers and skeletal hands burst from the ground beneath her beloved. They quickly tipped his seat and sprawled him backwards in his wheelchair. Before Faust could try and move centipedes quickly scuttled from the wet soil and up the chair. They worked quickly and bound Johann's ankles to the chair at Eliza's direction. She knelt over the blushing blonde and started unbuttoning his traveling coat while he lay in the dirt of the grave. The pair of skeletal hands holding him down by the wrists. Not that he was pulling at his bonds of course. Between bones of men who died decades ago and insects should the 33-year-old necromancer wish to rise it wouldn't be much effort at all. No instead the shaking that Faust was doing was in anticipation for his loves touch.
He hadn't felt it since her untimely death and had spent many a night dreaming of her returned to him. That he would come here looking for battle but instead find himself beneath his merciful Eliza was nothing short of a dream. She could rip his clothes from his pallid skin like paper but instead, she took her time and undid the buttons one at time respectfully. He wanted to beg her to just rip them away and touch him but couldn't bear to raise his voice after not having spoken to her in so long. When his coat was finally opened and he felt her fingers tease the patch of mottled gray skin on his chest it was if heavenly bells were tolling.
"Johann you know I have watched you from on high. Seen how you've done these things to yourself. Seen these blows that you've patched up yourself with far less care then the sweet boy I remember."
She teased a nail down the stitch upon his chest and the eighth to bear the Faust name giggled like he was again the boy she spoke of. The toes of his barefoot curled and attracted the attention of another visitor from his past. When he smiled the possesed Ooyamada boy ran a finger along the ever so slight smile lines that his spirit knew from memory. Her love hadn't smiled in a very long time but she knew the perfect way to get that precious grin of his back. A finger stroked along Mr. Faust's chest and the late Ms. Faust smiled as he chuckled and gasped.
"Keehee E-Elihihza! Oh my sweeeheet it's beeheen too lohohng! I woohorked sohoo hahaha-GAH! NAHAHT THERE!"
"Ahhh there we go. New skin, same nerves. I know you worked hard Johann, I watched it all with a heavy heart. How I wished you could let me go and find some kind of happiness. How could you think for a second that I would want you to be miserable in life for my sake?"
Eliza's spirit wiggled a finger in Faust's face but Manta's body scribbled one in the crook of his neck. It wasn't clear which was more to blame for the tears pricking up in his eyes.
"The man I lived for would never have harmed an innocent so I choose to believe that he died with me. What you are now is wicked but not irredeemable. Johann, please find let me go from your mind and be happy here in the world of the living. I will await you in the next life with open arms and no end of patience."
The skeletal pup that followed Faust about was the remains of his and Eliza's beloved childhood pooch. It naturally shared Eliza's feelings and as such pushed a cold snout bone right into it's master's bare arch. The once fearsome necromancer let out a yelp of surprise quite similar to what his beloved dog would sound like when it would bound to the door to greet it's masters when they returned to their clinic. The bony creature took this as a sign to continue and continued scraping it's nose about Faust's helpless foot, carefully avoiding the stitches but still tickling the different colored patches of skin with the same vigor.
Eliza meanwhile began teasing one of her former husband's cold nipples that stood proud due to the cold mist in this somber place. She flicked a finger and the Ooyamada body she was in possession of took it's own fingers to the other nipple. The blonde woman smiled at the way that his back arched beneath the double team attack from her cold fingers and Manta's warm ones. She could see a glimpse of the kind man she loved in his manic grin and wanted more.
"Don't you see? Our darling pup remembers the good times as well but he's no more fond of this new you then I am. However it looks like he still enjoys your smile all the same my laughing lab rat."
The bony hound dragged it's snout all about Faust's barefoot in nonsensical patterns that had the man pulling at his bonds while Eliza tut-tutted at his antics.
"Silly boy you so badly wanted me back and now you want to go? Whatever for? Tickle, tickle~"
"Kehehehe my Eleheheiza! Ohohoh goohoodness it-it-it tihihickles so muhuhch! Sohohooo cold!"
"Ha! A cold necromancer? The grave is so cold Johann and yet here you are whining? My I don't think your ready to be with me at all...coochie, coochie-coo~"
"Ahahaha Elihihiza I'll doohoo ahahannything! Pleeheease lehehet me behehe wihihth you! Gahahah, uhuhuh it's sohohoo tihihickly!"
"The grave is like this Johann to lie in a box and feel the earth reclaim you with a million mouths is something like this, Not exactly but similar. Should you so badly wish to join me then you'll need to be prepared. Gitchie, gitchie my ticklish lover~"
Something was wrong, this didn't sound like his Eliza. She was a quiet girl who would never mix metaphors or do something as silly as all this. Faust wanted to say something but a finger that felt to made of solid ice slid up his chest and made the man shiver as it played down his patch of mottled skin. He was biting his lip now at the sensation and was in danger of spilling blood. There was a small voice in the back of his head saying something was wrong but he was too focused on even a chance at Eliza's return.
"Gahahaha! Oh it tihihickles, it tihihckles, it tihihickles soohooo bahahad Elihihiza! Whatever it takes to be with yohohou!"
"Oh my poor darling Johann. Is this truly what you want? Do you not want to live and enjoy the world that I cannot? Death holds nothing as wonderful as these sensations that the living can enjoy."
Skeletal hands burst from the ground around the prone Faust and began dragging sharp skinless fingers along his bare torso. The specter of his dear aEliza dragged a finger along his thigh and the feeling of it passed through his pants, skin and to his very soul it felt like a lick of pure cold. The man's blue eyes were wide and tears came from them as he nodded his head furiously at the sensations. Manta's small hands squeezed his cock through his pants and he gasped.
Eliza shook a finger at her little host before loosening her hold on her darling. The skeletal hands released Faust's wrists and instead entwined themselves with his fingers lovingly. He was hesitant at first but when one traced around the base of his thumb exactly as Eliza used to do to wake him in the morning he eagerly embraced both sets. Soon more skeletal hands arose about Faust and began gently caressing the warm parts of his flesh and teasing the cold parts. The result was a confused and strangled series of sounds from the man. Loving moans turned into choking laughter before snapping back at a quick hitch of breath and turning to gasps that broke down into childish titters.
Faust had been a man of medicine all his life even if madness had taken hold of him at the loss of his love but should somebody without Shamanic gifts find him like this then it would take seconds to have him fitted for a straitjacket. They would see Manta simply squeezing Johann's stomach while man cycled through so many reactions and sounds to all kinds of unseen stimulae that he'd appear to be broken.
The giggles got stronger as those centipedes from earlier started to crawl along Faust's ankle while winding their way between his toes. The blonde cackled like a cartoom witch at crawlies creeping along his ticklish foot and that startled a murder of crows nesting in a nearby tree. Crows are animals that are closely related to the spirit world in many mythologies and as such they were able to see the spectral centipedes summoned by Eliza. Especially the biiiig one that was winding it's way down into the shoe upon Johann's other foot.
They descended like a black wind and soon their beaks were ripping apart the man's shoe until the pale foot was practically glowing in the moonlight as it shone with his sweat. The birds began trying to peck at the insects crawling about the shaman's ticklish foot but due to the fact that they were ghosts all that was happening was that their sharp beaks were poking his foot and making Faust let out yelps of laughter. Throughout it all though he never once closed or took his eyes off of Eliza as she looked down on him. Even as the dead destroyed him with loving tickles while under her command he was terrified that he would look away and she would be gone.
Manta leaned down and began laying soft kisses down Faust's chest as he moaned and begged for Eliza to simply either stay with him or take his life so he could be with her. Even amidst endless pleasures upon his skin he wanted his dead love so badly. The spirit felt nothing but pity for her darling to have become something like this. She did however notice how the man's back arched with each kiss from her human host body. Perhaps there was something to that? Maybe he just needed somebody to touch him to bring him back to humanity and out of the fantasy of the grave? With a snap of her fingers Eliza summoned forth something sleeping soundly in one of the nearby mausoleums. It lumbered forwards and easily pushed aside the stone door to it's tomb as it came lurching forward to see what it had been summoned to take part in.
It stood nearly eight feet tall and misshapen with iron spikes jutting from it's back from where men had first felled it. It marched forward on claws that had dulled in the grave and now splintered with each step forwards. The spirit of Eliza knew that this wasn't a real creature but simply the imagination of what people thought lurked in the deepest crypts. Should her Johann get a hard enough look at it he'd pick it apart with medical knowledge to the point it wouldn't be able to stand. Faust the 8th was currently far too teary-eyed and manic to perform any kind of diagnosis however. The monster reached down and scooped both him and Manta up by the waist into each of it's powerful arms although only Manta was grabbed in a way where he was rightside up.
Faust hung upside down and helpless as the small man's hands grabbed him by his ankles and began scrabbling tiny fingers along his warm soles. The mad doctor shook like a leaf in the horrible monsters arms as the spirit of long-gone beloved summoned more to help him move on. Spectral reapers floated down from the sky and soon freezing cold hands from beyond the grave began exploring Faust's ribs through both his clothes and skin. He slapped at the immaterial death's butof course accomplished nothing. The two pair of pale riders traced down each of his ribs on opposite sides while Manta began lovingly nuzzling the man's stitched tootsies like they were lovers.
Eliza's eyes glowed as she summoned more to aid her ailing love. The skeletal hands from earlier burst from the ground and skittered along like monsters to catch up with the horror carrying away both the handsome man and the hobbit. They took him by the thumbs to bind his hands together before they began stroking along his ticklish palms while the man's mascara ran. With harsh caws and high-pitched shrieks vultures and bats descended to add an animalistic side to his teasing. Coarse feathers and tiny claws were added to Johann's ears and made the Necromancer's vision grow strained as he laughed hard enough to wake more dead.
His coat had come fully undone now as such the cutest feature on his chest was fully on display. Faust's little outie navel hung out and he watched in horror as a skull rolled along beneath him, getting closer and closer. It finally sprung from the cobblestones and nipped the sensitive skin there with enough force to make him yip like an animal. Had he been in his right mind he would have taken note of the bullethole in the skull and what that meant. He hadn't been for a lomg time though and as such simply cackled like a fool as the monster holding him and his new boyfriend loomed over an open grave.
His manic chortling was finally stopped by a zombie with that same bullet hole in it. It's cold fingers wrapped around his chin and squeezed his lips closed with force. He tried to whimper but soon another finger was added and began scribbling a cracked and broken nail along his trapped lips. The man's blue eyes went wild at the sight of the whole in the zombie's hair and the lock of ruined blonde hair hanging from the back of it's head.
"Mmmppm Elphhmzza!!!" he tried to get out through his smushed face as Manta's small hands tickled away at his soles. His eyes were already running with tears at his necrotic ravishing but now some were with utter joy even as a worm wriggled it's way from the hand squishing his cheeks to wriggle along his skin. It tickled but Faust would spend nights dreaming about it later as he touched himself. He wantee it to never end but the hulking reject from a mortuary threw him and Manta down into the grave instead.
The two landed and both started barking in synchronized laughter as what they'd thought was a black rug in the coffin at the bottom writhed and surged over them. Normal rats would have simply fled but these little vermin were touched with Shamanic Power and instead scampered all along Manta's ticklish skin as well as Faust's. At first it didn't bother Manta but the second Eliza cut her hold on him and he was back to normal he was a ball of giggly begging just as Faust was. The two tried to cuddle into each for protection as the coffin lid closed on them but a light started to shine between them.
A blonde-haired nurse appeared between the two and pulled them both close with a smile. Her feet were bare and cold as ice, both could attest to that due to the freezing tootsies she dragged down their soles. The two could only whimper in fear and absolute joy respectively as the sound of dirt falling above them grew louder and louder.
"The two of you are in for a looooooong night" Eliza whispered as the last spectral shovelful of dirt entombed them. Quickly as they appeared her legion of ghosts and ghouls vanished and instead down in the coffin as the lights dimmed she revealed far more hands then a normal person or ghost should have.
Yoh Asakura didn't know about any of this of course as he finally arrived to graveyard, late as could be. He sighed and sat down totally unaware as his opponent and bestie shrieked in terrified laughter beneath his sandaled feet.
"Hope those guys don't keep me waiting too long."

Spring 2021 Anime Season
Tumblr media
Mars Red is one of two series this season set in one of my favorite periods, the Meiji era. It’s a vampire series that deals a lot with the politics of war as the Japanese military is attempting to establish a vampire unit, supposedly to compete with the British vampire unit (because of course that’s a thing). It focuses on a human military officer named Maeda who is charged with recruiting and managing vampires. Maeda is the type of character I really enjoy. Handsome, a little older than most anime protagonists, chain-smoking, overly serious, and voiced by Junichi Suwabe (who has to have the sexiest voice in all of anime). The series has a classic, romantic feel to it. Its take on vampires is somewhat traditional (they evaporate in the sun, drink blood, sleep in coffins, have super strength and speed, etc.). If it brings anything new to the table, it’s the concept of vampires having different ranks, from S-class down, and how lower ranks naturally fear higher ranks. Still yet, the classic vibe works in the show’s favor. Combined with the historical setting, it gives the show a certain charm. The art is lovely, from the backgrounds to the character designs, and the music is a high point. It easily has the best ending theme of the season.
Tumblr media
Fumetsu no Anata e (To Your Eternity) is a unique series. I’ve seen a lot of people comparing it to Mushishi, but with an overarching plot, and that assessment is pretty accurate. The show follows an entity that comes to be known as Fushi. It begins as an orb, and as it makes contact with other objects and creatures, it learns from them and can possibly take their forms. Among the forms it most often takes are a white wolf and a young man. Originally, it’s a somewhat empty shell, incapable of communicating, but as it meets different creatures and learns, it develops a personality and begins to speak. The series is, overall, about Fushi’s journey through this world and all the experiences it gains, both wonderful and tragic. There’s a subtle beauty to the series, with an early focus on nature, but it also has scenes of trauma and violence. The animation is fluid and the facial expressions are amazing. There’s an overall natural feel to it that, like others have pointed out, reminds me of Mushishi (though it’s definitely faster paced than Mushishi). The show also likes to make you cry, so keep that in mind.

Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood is the other series set in the Meiji era this season, albeit an alternate version of it that has a strange form of technology. To be honest, I’m a little fuzzy on some of the details, but it seems to be about a group called the Nue who work for the government to fight against a growing rebellion. The main character is Sawa, a member of Nue who has some sort of special powers involving her blood, which allow her to transform and battle monsters, or whatever else stands in her way. Her goal is to get revenge for the death of her entire clan (implied to be wiped out because of their power). Sawa is a decent heroine, a woman who craves vengeance and is determined to get it through any means, but is, at her core, a compassionate person who would rather live in peace. It’s this internal conflict that makes Sawa compelling (even if it’s not entirely original). The other characters are interesting, particularly Tsuki, whom I won’t talk much about because it would involve spoilers. The plot and details can get a little convoluted, but the action and animation are solid. When Sawa transforms, the art style changes, and it’s a really cool visual effect. The music is also nice.

Shaman King received a remake this season. I was a huge fan of the original, and so far I’m enjoying the remake, but to be honest, I’m having trouble seeing the point. The art is almost the same (just a lot shinier), the voice actors are the same, the plot is the same. Maybe it’s just that it’s been so long since I saw the original, I’m unable to remember the details and so I can’t tell what’s different. But to me it feels like I’m just rewatching the show. Which is fine, because I loved it to begin with. Maybe it gets different later on. Maybe it more closely follows the manga. I’ll keep watching to find out. For anyone new to the series, it looks like the remake is a solid place to start if you want to get into it. I won’t go into plot details for a story this old, so I’ll just say it’s a top tier shounen fighting series with a unique art style and some very memorable characters. If you like that sort of thing, and missed the original (or you just want a refresher), definitely check it out!

Godzilla Singular Point is a true delight. I’m a huge Godzilla (and kaiju in general) fan. I’ve watched every single Godzilla movie, as well as all the related movies (the Mothra films, Rodan, etc.), but I never watched the previous Godzilla anime that was on Netflix a few years ago. It just didn’t sound like something I’d like. Singular Point, however, is right up my alley. Set mainly in a small seaside town that’s suddenly attacked by bird-like monsters known as Rodans, we have two geeky protagonists using their intelligence to figure out what’s going on while more and more monsters appear. Mei and Yun are excellent heroes. They rely on their wits rather than physical strength, which is a refreshing approach. It’s also interesting that they have little to no face-to-face interaction. Instead, they chat with each other via text as they work separately. They often challenge each other with science questions. It’s adorable. The show’s overall feel is fairly upbeat and energetic. The colorful art and peppy character designs by Kazue Kato (who did Blue Exorcist) help with this feel. It should be noted that Godzilla himself doesn’t fully appear until halfway through the series. It says a lot about the quality of the show that I don’t actually mind that at all. Some of the science stuff does go over my head, but the general plot is easy enough to follow and the action is very well done. It also has fantastic music, with my favorite opening theme of the season. Even if Godzilla isn’t your thing, consider giving this series a shot if you like nerdy science types as heroes.

Burning Kabaddi is a sports anime about an unsual sport. I’d never heard of it before now, and if people in the comments were not talking about the very real sport, I would have assumed it was made up for the anime. The show is aware that the sport is obscure, so it takes great pains to explain the rules and details so that we can all follow the action. The story centers on Yoigoshi, a soccer prodigy who decides to drop all sports once he gets to high school due to all the drama and angst that surrounded him (mostly due to his teammates being jealous of his talent), and pursue a career as a streamer. All the various sports clubs at the school want to recruit him (especially the soccer club, of course) because they’ve heard of his skill and he has an athletic build. He rejects them all, but the Kabaddi club is strangely relentless. He ends up being manipulated into joining (the vice captain of the team straight up blackmails him by threatening to show his online streaming account to the whole school). Despite this rocky beginning, Yoigoshi actually starts to enjoy playing Kabaddi, and more importantly, begins to bond with his new teammates. It’s pretty fun stuff that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The art is serviceable for a sports anime and the music is fine. The series isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s a fun way to spend twenty minutes every week. Worth a watch if you have a weakness for hot blooded sports anime.
Tumblr media
The World Ends With You finally got its anime adaptation and I was so excited. The game is one of my all-time favorites. So far the anime is pretty good. The art is a near perfect replication of the bold, thick-lined art of the game. The battles are exciting and cool. Best of all, the anime often uses music from the game. This is important because the game has one of the best soundtracks, ever. Every time I recognize a song from the game, I almost squeal. If I had a complaint, it’s that the pacing feels a little off at times. It feels like the anime is rushing through the story, but that’s understandable. In the game, it took longer for everything to happen because you were walking from place to place, fighting battles along the way, stopping to scan NPC’s, shopping at stores, spending time in menus, etc. The anime has to cut most of that out, so naturally things are going to move faster. The result is that you don’t get to spend as much time with these characters, and so you feel less attached to them. Anyone watching the anime who didn’t play the game might feel like the emotional beats are lacking. I feel like this anime is definitely meant to be enjoyed by fans of the game, rather than newcomers to the story. But if you are a fan of the game? You should be watching this every week. It’s an excellent refresher on the story, just in time for the second game to come out this summer. Super high on my watch list.

Boku no Hero Academia has a new season. To be honest I don’t remember what number we’re on. This season, so far, focuses on a tournament-style competition between the two main hero classes. I would much prefer the plot to move on to something more exciting involving the villains, but I suppose they have to throw arcs like this in every so often just to remind everyone of which characters have which quirks. The plus point is that instead of being an individual competition, it’s team-based. What this ultimately means is that characters that are viewed as weaker or having more obscure quirks actually get a chance to shine. These are characters who definitely aren’t going to win one-on-one battles. In an individual tournament, it’s pretty much a given that characters like Deku, Bakugou, and Todoroki are going to win most of the matches. But in a team, everyone has to work together. The end result is that the lady characters, all of whom have fairly weak or situational quirks, finally FINALLY get to actually do stuff! Even better, in several of the match-ups, the girls have taken the lead in planning and strategizing. It’s been pretty nice to watch. The girls from the other class have been very proactive as well. I really wish the girls could do more in “real” battles with villains, since it’s clear that they can step up when they need to. Who knows? Maybe this is a sign of good things to come.

86 is a new mecha/sci-fi anime based on a series of light novels. The setup is fairly cool: In a country where everyone has silver hair and eyes, the people live in what looks like a utopia. There is a war going on outside their protected land but all combat is performed by automated robots, so there are no human casualties... or so the government would have the people believe. In reality, there is a district that exists on the outskirts of the country called 86, where people who don’t have silver hair and eyes are sent to pilot the robots and fight to protect the country that shunned them. Most of the pilots are children or teenagers. The mortality rate is high. Only a few people in the government know of their existence, mostly military types that include “handlers”. These handlers each take on an 86 unit and communicate with them through a system called “para-raid”. Using this, they monitor the battlefield from their safe positions and issue commands. Naturally, most handlers view their units as nothing more than tools in the war, and most 86-ers view their handlers as privileged snobs who know nothing of actual battle. The real plot kicks in when Lena, a young Major, becomes the new handler for a particular 86 unit. Lena is sympathetic to the people of 86, but it’s going to be hard getting her notoriously rough unit to accept her. The plot is a bit complicated and the show deals with some weighty themes (racism, privilege, war, child soldiers, death). Lena is a likable enough heroine and the members of 86 are all interesting and fairly well written. The music is fine. The art... well, it’s pretty to look at, but it feels a bit generic to me. A bit too shiny. The mecha designs are great, but I’m not crazy about the character designs, which feel like they could be from any other modern anime. I also find it sad but hilarious at the same time that the women’s military uniforms are clearly designed for fanservice (they include mini skirts, thigh-highs with garters, and a short jacket that opens up just above the chest to show the tight shirt underneath) while the men’s uniforms are just totally normal military wear. To be honest it’s just too stupid to actually be offensive, so it comes across as comical. Thankfully, the interesting setup and plot carry the show, making it good enough to overlook the generic visuals.

Moriarty the Patriot has a new season... maybe? I think it’s technically still season one, but with a split cour. Regardless, it feels like a new season so I’m treating it as such. The series focuses on famous Sherlock antagonist Moriarty, here represented as a trio of handsome brothers (though one of them is clearly the protagonist and the leader of the group) who work as “crime consultants” and basically help the lower classes wage class warfare against the nobility. This season shifts the focus away from the individual crimes Moriarty concocts and instead focuses on larger-scale conflicts that involve government conspiracies, corrupt cops, etc. We’re also treated to a lady James Bond (finally!), fixing one of the very few complaints I had about the first cour (that it lacked strong lady characters). The show remains very compelling, with beautiful art and excellent new opening and ending themes.
Best of Season:
Best New Show: Godzilla Singular Point
Best Opening Theme: Godzilla Singular Point
Best Ending Theme: Mars Red
Best New Male Character: Maeda (Mars Red)
Best New Female Character: Sawa (Joran)

Centaurworld rambles but like
After talking with my wife I think Horse was originally from Centaurworld in some capacity. There’s some subtle foreshadowing like in the mole court saying “magic was always in you”. Which, yeah, could be passed off as just oh yeah we’re all magical, w/e... but I think that’s why she’s changing. Not even because she just appeared in the world but because she changing back.
How else was the single key piece at the beginning able to work in any capacity? Magic doesn’t exist in Horse’s world and even the shamans werent powerful enough to use parts of the key. And why was a single piece of the key in Horse’s world to begin with?
I think she may have gone to the other world as a sort of self exile with the key part in hopes that it would keep the door from ever being opened again. That without the final piece reopening the portal would be impossible. And that she changed into horse with a lower-case from being there so long with no real connection to magic and centaurworld and forgot. idk if she would have gotten separated from the key piece, or if she just forgot it’s importance at some point or what.
She says she recognizes the Nowhere King’s lullaby. I initially just accepted that maybe it also exists in the other world. But if it doesn’t it has very real connotations that she’s been in Centaurworld before.
Will she become a full centaur in s2?
Was she a shaman? That would explain why she had the 6th key piece
I’m very excited

Saturday Anime Update - May 8th
Slime Diaries (Tensura Nikki) Episode 4 - I've watched the first portion of the show up til now and it's so cute! I love the main series so much, I'm so glad there's content coming out until part 2 releases. But - RIGURD scares the absolute shit out of me!!!! I get that his eyes are usually dark in the main series but with the new style he looks terrifying. And also!! They gave Hakurou a moustache?? Like why does his face look so weird, and BENNY, his face is so square/round?! Beautiful still but different.. vs everyone else, even background characters look normal so why are these 3 so different??? Anywho - looking forward to the rest of this show, very wholesome.

Bishounen Tanteidan Episode 4 & 5 - This is starting to get a lot of fun, we get to see how Doujima blends in with the squad and I loved the councilman from the other school, those kinds of characters always make me happy, like Gin ichimaru from Bleach. And as always - style is immaculate (or Aesthetics?)
Tumblr media
Charlotte Started this on Wednesday, I'd honestly never heard of it until recently and it's a super fun concept, haven't formed much of an opinion on it yet - to be continued! Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! Ok I watched the first episode of this and I'll have to continue it another time. I just can't get into it with the over the top ecchi stuff, I think I can only handle one show like that at a time and right now I'm already watching How not to summon a demon lord so my slot is full until that's over. Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita Anime names keep getting longer and this was a real pain to type out. Another isekai, this one has very little goal but is a nice one to put on, as an immortal witch who's op af deals with different fantasy characters each episode in her supposed slow-life reincarnation. Not a good show, but fun to watch. Tenchi Souzou Design-bu (Heaven's Design Team) I started this one a while ago but since there's no real story I've been slowly working my way through it. I don't know that I've watched many educational animes before but this one takes the cake. It's a fun take on how animals were invented if different planets were behind their creation. They also talk about legitimate traits of the animals and do a little feature at the end with real footage (rather than animated). Fun to watch and very educational. Shaman King This one i'm a little disappointed in. I watched the first few episodes but really just can't get hooked on the story or the style. I think that had I watched it when I was younger it'd be fun to re-watch now, but it's clearly targeting those who grew up with it or a younger audience. Because of this - this one is gonna be D R O P P E D Upcoming Monday/Tuesday update: To your Eternity - Episode 5 Tokyo Revengers - Episode 5 My Hero Academia - Season 5 Episode 7 Edens Zero Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary) Odd Taxi

Alright hey! Heres another servant whos kinda weird! Its Queen Himiko and Empress Jingu!
Caster/Berserker: Queen Himiko/Empress Jingu
Parameters:
Strength: E/A
Endurance: E+/B
Agility: C/B
Luck: A+/E
Mana: EX/E
NP: A
Traits:
(Jingu)Madness Enhancement A+  (Shared)Divinity A  (Himiko/Jingu)Magic Resistance B/E (Himiko)Territory Creation EX  (Jingu)Avenger B+  (Himiko/Jingu)Riding C/A
Skills (Himiko):
Connection to Spirits B+: Being a Shaman before her ascension to the throne, Himiko is well versed in magics, particularly ones associated with the use or interactions with spirits or even gods. Both of which strengthen her magics Greatly
Empress of Peace A-: Himiko claimed the throne and brought about an age of peace, slowly becoming favored by many until she seemed to be the only one fit for the throne. This reveals itself as a charisma skill, being able to enchant those around her into taking her side to the point of obsession, if they were to lose her, that person would desperately go searching for someone to replace her.
1000 Women, 1 man C:  Himiko was reported to have 1000 women and a single man called on to attend to her. In Servant form, these women serve as a sort of spying network, blending into the crowds of people and taking whatever information they find to the single man and then back to Himiko. They are also useful for when Himiko uses particularly strong magic that would require a sacrifice, though they aren’t fully realized beings by themselves,  100 of them equating to a single useable soul.
Skills (Jingu):
Monstrous Strength (Vengence) A: Driven by the death of her husband, Jingu set out to kill the rebels who had killed him all on her own. About 100 rebels taking on the single Jingu, only the desire for revenge and fury drove her, and all on her own Jingu had succeded.
Set Upon the Promise Land A-: Later on in life, Jingu went to capture the so called Promise Land, although no one truly knows what that promise land was. Jingu’s accounts of it are non sense and have little to no real bearing on reality, and yet these words are enough to drive anyone to follow her there. They become willing to tear down whatever is in front of them in the process, as if taking on Jingu’s Madness Enchancement for themselves.
Owner of the Seven Branches EX: Jingu holds the rightful ownership of the blade Shichishito and as such is able to bring out it’s full potential, its powers and blessing that are bestowed upon the user.
Skills (Shared):
Face Turning: A skill made from their strange circumstances, this allows them to switch between one another as they see fit, although an agreement to switch must be made by either side. This also allows them to, for a short period of time, take on the abilities of the other while also suffering from a sudden combination of parts of their personality.
Independent Action (Channelling): A skill made from their strange circumstances. While one of the two personalities is present in the real world the other can stay with their master in spirit form, allowing more freedoms to the one present in the real world. However, like this that personality can’t speak with their master mentally and they are weakened to a degree, switching over has to be agreed upon, now by the master as well.
Noble Phantasms
Shichishito (Sword of the Seven Branches):
Rank: A
Type: Anti Unit Anti Army (100 targets)
Description: The Branching sword that once belonged to the king of Baekje. When used by Jingu it raises her luck as well as her mana and giving her more magical protections. When in use, its branches move as if alive, tying around whatever it touches to either destroy it or drain it of its magic, the branches can also extend as they please, they themselves are a very deadly weapon. The true noble phantasm inside of Shichishito is when it is planted into the ground, anything within a 100 meter radius that contains magic and “plants” itself inside of that thing, draining it and growing, tearing that target apart from the inside. To any normal person this would be a death sentence, although, this can be avoided with a sufficient amount of both Mana and Endurance to simply survive the growth process.
Shichishito (Seven branched Catalyst)
Rank C
Type: Anti Self
Description: When wielded by Himiko, the sword is tricked, as she and Jingu share the same spirit origin. It only gives her a small boost to her strength, enough to use it, but more importantly it acts as a catalyst to her magic. This allows her to use much greater magic, the pinnacle of this is to take upon the Avatar of a Chinese god she is associated with for a short period of time and an approximation of their power.
Description of Servant:
Himiko: She was the queen of her own lands known as the Yamatai where she brought both peace and prosperity to her people. She did all that she could for them, because no one believed in her, not at first. As her skill became more and more prominent, her people grew to love her more and more. At first, Himiko was overjoyed that her people loved her as much as she did them, but soon it became clear that there was something wrong. They believed that she would live forever, due to her title as a Shaman, and made no plan for her replacement as the years grew on her and she bore no child. All those who did suggest such things were called traitors and near threatened with death. Himiko, who could not bear to see her people in turmoil or depression once again, pretended as she would live and even researched ways on extending her lifespan. She came upon such knowledge one day, but never used it and died silently in her bed, hoping for her people’s continued peace.
As a servant, Himiko is regal yet kind to everyone. She speaks carefully and considers everyones feelings on every matter, though anyone who listens very closely can find that she never brings up her own opinions. It is her belief that a ruler is an impassive party who’s duty it is to carry out the desires of those around them, their own feelings should only serve to guide them. She’ll do what she must to bring her master happiness while never bringing up her own feelings in return, however, a master will never win anything this way.
On the inside Himiko is always analyzing and searching for a way to make everyone happy but never truly fighting for what she believes or wants, working herself more like a machine than anything human. In that sense, she becomes jealous of her other half, tied to her by the mystery in both their existences.
Jingu: She became Empress off the back of her husband’s death and her revenge on the perpetrators. She rode the winds of anger toward insanity, becoming obsessed with a so-called promise land, anyone who lent her an ear. Her trail was blazed with vicious bloodshed, all those faces she cut down only seemed to remind her of those who killed her husband. This bloodshed is even found in her Shichishito, whose trading of hands is questionable at best. For whatever reason though, the sword accepted her and remained with her all throughout the rest of her rule. She became fairly sullen in that time, yet kept the throne to allow her son to safely take it from her. Her rage had not left her though, only changed, at age 100 she wasn’t even allowed the mercy of remembering her husband's face before passing on.
As a servant she is endlessly confident and self assured. With her, her way is the highway and that's the only way anyone should take. She can be a bit overbearing in this way but she can be befriended and can be good company at times, her confidence is notably infectious after all. That being said, it's easy for her to become blinded once again with her insanity driven ambition and drag others down with her. Instead of breaking her off though, maybe she’ll need someone to pull her up.
On the inside Jingu is still wrestling with her inner turmoil, searching for a way to release herself from it’s grip. Someone who can really be relied on and take care of others, much like her other half tied to her by their shared Mystery. For that reason, she became jealous of her.
If one is killed, the other can survive and is allowed the power of a full servant by themselves.

Bruce's eulogy for the BIG MAN:
I've been sitting here listening to everyone talk about Clarence and staring at that photo of the two of us right there. It's a picture of Scooter and The Big Man, people who we were sometimes. As you can see in this particular photo, Clarence is admiring his muscles and I'm pretending to be nonchalant while leaning upon him. I leaned on Clarence a lot; I made a career out of it in some ways.´´
´´Those of us who shared Clarence's life, shared with him his love and his confusion. Though "C" mellowed with age, he was always a wild and unpredictable ride. Today I see his sons Nicky, Chuck, Christopher and Jarod sitting here and I see in them the reflection of a lot of C's qualities. I see his light, his darkness, his sweetness, his roughness, his gentleness, his anger, his brilliance, his handsomeness, and his goodness. But, as you boys know your pop was a not a day at the beach. "C" lived a life where he did what he wanted to do and he let the chips, human and otherwise, fall where they may. Like a lot of us your pop was capable of great magic and also of making quite an amazing mess. This was just the nature of your daddy and my beautiful friend. Clarence's unconditional love, which was very real, came with a lot of conditions. Your pop was a major project and always a work in progress. "C" never approached anything linearly, life never proceeded in a straight line. He never went A… B…. C…. D. It was always A… J…. C…. Z… Q… I….! That was the way Clarence lived and made his way through the world. I know that can lead to a lot of confusion and hurt, but your father also carried a lot of love with him, and I know he loved each of you very very dearly.´´
´´It took a village to take care of Clarence Clemons. Tina, I'm so glad you're here. Thank you for taking care of my friend, for loving him. Victoria, you've been a loving, kind and caring wife to Clarence and you made a huge difference in his life at a time when the going was not always easy. To all of "C's" vast support network, names too numerous to mention, you know who you are and we thank you. Your rewards await you at the pearly gates. My pal was a tough act but he brought things into your life that were unique and when he turned on that love light, it illuminated your world. I was lucky enough to stand in that light for almost 40 years, near Clarence's heart, in the Temple of Soul.´´
´´So a little bit of history: from the early days when Clarence and I traveled together, we'd pull up to the evening's lodgings and within minutes "C" would transform his room into a world of his own. Out came the colored scarves to be draped over the lamps, the scented candles, the incense, the patchouli oil, the herbs, the music, the day would be banished, entertainment would come and go, and Clarence the Shaman would reign and work his magic, night after night. Clarence's ability to enjoy Clarence was incredible. By 69, he'd had a good run, because he'd already lived about 10 lives, 690 years in the life of an average man. Every night, in every place, the magic came flying out of C's suitcase. As soon as success allowed, his dressing room would take on the same trappings as his hotel room until a visit there was like a trip to a sovereign nation that had just struck huge oil reserves. "C" always knew how to live. Long before Prince was out of his diapers, an air of raunchy mysticism ruled in the Big Man's world. I'd wander in from my dressing room, which contained several fine couches and some athletic lockers, and wonder what I was doing wrong! Somewhere along the way all of this was christened the Temple of Soul; and "C" presided smilingly over its secrets, and its pleasures. Being allowed admittance to the Temple's wonders was a lovely thing.´´
´´As a young child my son Sam became enchanted with the Big Man… no surprise. To a child Clarence was a towering fairy tale figure, out of some very exotic storybook. He was a dreadlocked giant, with great hands and a deep mellifluous voice sugared with kindness and regard. And… to Sammy, who was just a little white boy, he was deeply and mysteriously black. In Sammy's eyes, "C" must have appeared as all of the African continent, shot through with American cool, rolled into one welcoming and loving figure. So… Sammy decided to pass on my work shirts and became fascinated by Clarence's suits and his royal robes. He declined a seat in dad's van and opted for "C's" stretch limousine, sitting by his side on the slow cruise to the show. He decided dinner in front of the hometown locker just wouldn't do, and he'd saunter up the hall and disappear into the Temple of Soul.´´
´´Of course, also enchanted was Sam's dad, from the first time I saw my pal striding out of the shadows of a half empty bar in Asbury Park, a path opening up before him; here comes my brother, here comes my sax man, my inspiration, my partner, my lifelong friend. Standing next to Clarence was like standing next to the baddest ass on the planet. You were proud, you were strong, you were excited and laughing with what might happen, with what together, you might be able to do. You felt like no matter what the day or the night brought, nothing was going to touch you. Clarence could be fragile but he also emanated power and safety, and in some funny way we became each other's protectors; I think perhaps I protected "C" from a world where it still wasn't so easy to be big and black. Racism was ever present and over the years together, we saw it. Clarence's celebrity and size did not make him immune. I think perhaps "C" protected me from a world where it wasn't always so easy to be an insecure, weird and skinny white boy either. But, standing together we were badass, on any given night, on our turf, some of the baddest asses on the planet. We were united, we were strong, we were righteous, we were unmovable, we were funny, we were corny as hell and as serious as death itself. And we were coming to your town to shake you and to wake you up. Together, we told an older, richer story about the possibilities of friendship that transcended those I'd written in my songs and in my music. Clarence carried it in his heart. It was a story where the Scooter and the Big Man not only busted the city in half, but we kicked ass and remade the city, shaping it into the kind of place where our friendship would not be such an anomaly. And that… that's what I'm gonna miss. The chance to renew that vow and double down on that story on a nightly basis, because that is something, that is the thing that we did together… the two of us. Clarence was big, and he made me feel, and think, and love, and dream big. How big was the Big Man? Too fucking big to die. And that's just the facts. You can put it on his grave stone, you can tattoo it over your heart. Accept it… it's the New World.´´
´´Clarence doesn't leave the E Street Band when he dies. He leaves when we die.´´
´´So, I'll miss my friend, his sax, the force of nature his sound was, his glory, his foolishness, his accomplishments, his face, his hands, his humor, his skin, his noise, his confusion, his power, his peace. But his love and his story, the story that he gave me, that he whispered in my ear, that he allowed me to tell… and that he gave to you… is gonna carry on. I'm no mystic, but the undertow, the mystery and power of Clarence and my friendship leads me to believe we must have stood together in other, older times, along other rivers, in other cities, in other fields, doing our modest version of god's work… work that's still unfinished. So I won't say goodbye to my brother, I'll simply say, see you in the next life, further on up the road, where we will once again pick up that work, and get it done.´´
´´Big Man, thank you for your kindness, your strength, your dedication, your work, your story. Thanks for the miracle… and for letting a little white boy slip through the side door of the Temple of Soul.´´
´´SO LADIES AND GENTLEMAN… ALWAYS LAST, BUT NEVER LEAST. LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE MASTER OF DISASTER, the BIG KAHUNA, the MAN WITH A PHD IN SAXUAL HEALING, the DUKE OF PADUCAH, the KING OF THE WORLD, LOOK OUT OBAMA! THE NEXT BLACK PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES EVEN THOUGH HE'S DEAD… YOU WISH YOU COULD BE LIKE HIM BUT YOU CAN'T! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE BIGGEST MAN YOU'VE EVER SEEN!… GIVE ME A C-L-A-R-E-N-C-E. WHAT'S THAT SPELL? CLARENCE! WHAT'S THAT SPELL? CLARENCE! WHAT'S THAT SPELL? CLARENCE! … amen.´´
´´I'm gonna leave you today with a quote from the Big Man himself, which he shared on the plane ride home from Buffalo, the last show of the last tour. As we celebrated in the front cabin congratulating one another and telling tales of the many epic shows, rocking nights and good times we'd shared, "C" sat quietly, taking it all in, then he raised his glass, smiled and said to all gathered, "This could be the start of something big."´´
´´Love you, "C".´´

Hey mutuals... did I never post about “Shaman King E.”?  Because I remember typing out a post about it but I can’t find it.... it’s not in my Drafts and I can’t find it in my archive and it was definitely newer than 2 months ago... I’m wondering if my internet shit when I posted about it and ate the post...
I mean Tumblr remembers the tag for it... there’s just no post?

Okay, before we go anywhere with this, I do not wish MatPat any actual harm. He may have annihilated the last of my brain cells with his most recent theory (as of 2:27 PM, 07/07/19, when I started writing), but I will not advocate actually hurting him for all that. His channel is run for fun, and dare I say, attention. And I can understand that to an extent.
But with that said, he pissed me off this close to my birthday and I am having none of that shit.
Second, I will be calling the player character (the Knight) Ghost, as this is how Hornet has named them, and it has more or less become their name at this point.
So, are we good? Then let’s get started with this.
There is no way Ghost is the Pale King’s reincarnation.
I will concede that, as @take-a-bug has brought up here, this would make an excellent AU. But as a theory, even by MatPat’s standards, it literally has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese.
First and foremost, Ghost is literally seen about five feet away from the Pale King himself in the flashback cutscene, as most of the comment section of the video has brought up.
If Ghost really was simply the reincarnation of the Pale King, there would have been no reason for them (who is clearly moving and doing things without him) to be in the same room as the clearly-living Pale King. Quite in fact, it solidifies that we were indeed a rejected vessel.
But let’s pretend this never happened, as MatPat clearly had. Surely the “theory” holds water now?
No. It sure doesn’t.
Let’s progress as he had.
Point #1: The Lore Tablets.
The tablets indeed refer to “Higher beings.” Now, the answer to what are the “higher beings” is a subject that, as far as I’m aware, has not actually been closed, especially with the Wanderer’s Journal that was published. But the one most seem to follow- including myself- is that the Higher Beings are the god-like beings of Hallownest, as this is supported by Team Cherry’s dev notes and AMAs[1] as well.
The Pale King is among the ranks of the Higher Beings, then. But how would Ghost be able to read these tablets, if they weren’t officially called such? Godseeker sure doesn’t recognize them as a god, at least not until they become the Shade Lord. This fact also makes the “theory” very suspicious; if they really were the Pale King’s reincarnation, where’s the godly aura? She should have recognized them as such.
Admittedly, her behavior as a whole kinda throws everything for a loop. But in the end, there’s still this.
Ghost, along with every other vessel to exist, is child of the White Lady and the Pale King. Or perhaps the term might be was, as they were kind of dumped into the Abyss, and the Void kinda seems to hate the Pale King’s guts and likely his kids too. But may they be a reanimated corpse filled with void or simply a product of not one, not two, but three incredibly powerful entities, the White Lady claims Ghost as her own spawn. This is directly stated with her stating that “Your companion's eyes burn with a familiar flame... Success then for the scarlet heart, and irony, to use my spawn to grow its own.”[2]
Likewise, Hornet- daughter of Herrah and the Pale King (the White Lady confirms this by bringing up how she was born of a dalliance between the two aforementioned parties)-  refers to the Hollow Knight as “Our birth-cursed sibling.”[3]
Not “my.” “Our.”
She is the vessels’ half sibling, sure, but this shows she recognizes them as the children of the Wyrm as well.
And being born of such powerful beings, it would be strange if they couldn’t read the text at all.
Now, the alternative possible meaning of “higher being” is those given mind by the Pale King, or similarly originated from Hallownest. Ellina from the Wanderer’s Journal book had shown no signs of being able to read the tablets in the Basin[1], which begins with the same phrase as those in the cliffs.
That in itself means nothing; after all, she is no god. But there is a lore tablet in the Howling Cliffs that rather supports this.
Higher beings, these words are for you alone.
These blasted plains stretch never-ending. There is no world beyond.
Those foolish enough to traverse this void must pay the toll and relinquish the precious mind this kingdom grants.[4]
It seems odd that the gods would so heavily rely on the narrow range of Hallownest, and since none (save for maybe Grimm, who has definitely not been here the entire time, judging from the looks of things but also has a very good knowledge of what has transpired) actually seem to have left, it seems near pointless to have the tablets.
However, we do know a bug that has left Hallownest, and came back with impaired memories besides Ghost themself: Quirrel. Now, perhaps it has to do with Monomon’s mask as well, but most likely being of Hallownest himself, he could have easily have been affected by the beyond. Those who were implied to have come from elsewhere (such as Tiso[5], Cornifer[6] and Iselda[7], Cloth[8], Ze’mer[9], and Zote[10]) have also shown no signs of memory loss despite having to have made the trek through the wastelands.
Now, Ghost has been out there, and apparently has memory loss, which does support that the wastelands do indeed strip the minds of some. Being born in Hallownest (or the Abyss, to be a little more specific), they would have been among those that would have a mind originating in the kingdom.
“But no mind to think!” you may cry, if you are one of the few people who actually think Ghost is a pure vessel. “They don’t have a mind!”
Au contraire. All the other vessels have shown to be imperfect, so they must have had at least one of the traits they were supposed to lack: will, voice, and mind. The Pure Vessel- later Hollow Knight- was tarnished by “an idea instilled”[11], which is likely tied to the cutscene at the end of the Path of Pain. But even then, the moment they had paused to glance back at Ghost, they were clearly impure; a creature without mind would have not hesitated to follow its master, yet they did. And they were judged the purer one between Ghost and themself.
In addition, if we take into consideration what we do in-game, they have made strategies to defeat enemies (or just rammed headfirst into fights until it finally worked out, which requires will and mind as well) and can choose to listen to what others say and retrain the information for their own use. They have a mind. They have a will. And what memory and knowledge they had was locked away, only able to be unlocked by some more forceful means.
So, conclusion to Point 1? Ghost can read the tablets not because they’re the Pale King, but because they are inherently tied to him and the kingdom. This can still be wrong, but it seems likelier than the suggested alternative.
Point #2: SOUL
While the Pale King has been suggested[12] to have a great ability of SOUL manipulation, it’s not far off to suggest that his kids might be able to do something similar. Hornet’s silk, as shown by the Silksong demo, seems to have a parallel to the SOUL meter back in Hollow Knight, mainly in part that it takes blows against enemies to fill it up.
But let’s ignore that for now, because there’s a more pressing thing at hand.
Guess where Ghost learned most of their spells from!
The snail shamans.
Hell, Ghost didn’t even know anything related to SOUL besides Focusing (healing), and it was only after meeting Mr. Snailman in the Ancestral Mound did they have any combative use for it. But even after getting all the spells (and out of these, Howling Wraiths, Shade Soul, and Descending Dark are likewise given by Snail Shamans, albeit dead ones), it doesn’t compare to what the Pure Vessel has.
Why do I bring them up? They were the one to be raised under the Pale King. SOUL manipulation seems a likely part of training. And between the “Focus” attack and the two “light lances” attacks, they do seem to have a firm grasp on SOUL. In fact, Ghost’s spells like quite untidy in comparison. But they weren’t the Pale King, either, and likely his abilities outshone their own. So, as the Pale King was likely a master with SOUL, why would he fall so low to be worse than his void child? Losing memory might at least leave him with something more than a rather sloppy heal.
So, as shaky as my arguments are here, it seems a little more plausible that Ghost just has the ability to manipulate SOUL because they are the Pale King’s child, and Hornet seems to support this as well, as mentioned before.
Point #3: Elegy for Hallownest and Ghost’s First Appearance
I’m not going to deny that the poem is directed to the Pale King. I mean, it clearly is.[13] But that being said, while MatPat’s logic seems at first glance slightly plausible, I remembered something that reftes this entirely. The first thing we see directly after the poem is actually the Hollow Knight in their prison, not Ghost.[14] Does this mean the Hollow Knight is the Pale King? No, it doesn’t, and don’t you dare suggest otherwise because the Pale King sure as hell locked up the kid with the Radiance in their head. It’d be kinda dumb to also be in the Hollow Knight beside his enemy, and as messed up as he was, the Pale King never struck me as that stupid.
As for the cutscene, I know this for a fact, because besides seeing the many videos of the game on YouTube, I’ve spent a lot of them playing this game, and I have seen a lot. The intro is no exception to this. So screw you and your misleading words.
Point #4: Usage of the Word “Dream” and “Ghost”
Surprisingly the most solid of his work, it’s a little harder to refute.
But this said, Elderbug may very well be meaning “dream” of grandeur, not the Radiance’s, or even the Pale King’s. His usage of the word “ghost” for the vessel is not unique either, as Ghost is given this moniker by Hornet as well[15]. Since her first pieces of dialogue in Greenpath, she refers them as “ghost” or “little ghost,” before eventually even calling them “Ghost of Hallownest.” While she gives no real explanation for the name, Ghost’s silence could easily be a main part in this.
Dreams and ghosts are also not always tied to the Radiance or the Pale King, either, as the Pale King’s palace is in the Dream realm (yet still away from the Radiance), and there are a lot of ghosts in Hallownest, if you know where to look.
So, do these words really have a deeper meaning? Not necessarily.
Point #5: Being Compared to the Pale King
Also a little hard to refute, but I’ll do my best.
The lines used to support this idea were “I almost feel like I'm once again in the presence of my beloved Wyrm,” from the White Lady and “Your noble bearing reminds me of our dear King,” from Ogrim, the Dung Defender (or White Defender, if you’re picky).
Let’s start with the first. Now in full, it actually goes “Ahh! So it bears our once-fractured soul, now complete. Such strength, such resolve, such dedication! Is it more than simply a Vessel? I almost feel like I'm once again in the presence of my beloved Wyrm.”[16]
She refers to the Kingsoul, the charm symbolizing the holy union of two higher beings[17], in this text first, before saying she almost feels like she’s in the presence of her husband. The Kingsoul would, by some degree of logic, have something that reminds the Queen of the Pale King, as half of the union was him. Besides that, Ghost has the Wyrm’s heritage, which could hypothetically amplify the effect.
But most important is still the Kingsoul. Half of it is based on the King, and that’s enough reason to remind the blind White Lady of the Pale King.
Quite in fact, she recognizes both Grimmchild and Carefree Melody to be linked to the Grimm Troupe (she tells them that “[… Ghost has] been consumed in the ritual of that scarlet clan.”[2]), so the actual presence of the primary higher being linked to the charm is unnecessary.
As for Ogrim, he says, “How funny that I see you in my dreams too, little one. Your noble bearing reminds me of our dear King. When he returns, I'll ask him if you can become a Knight! What jolly adventures we will have...”[18]
Noble bearing. Ghost literally could literally be holding themself up as if they were noble. In addition, Ogrim also recognizes Ghost as a vessel like the Hollow Knight, as he realizes that “...So there were others...” and even apologizes for the “cruel means” the Pale King used, despite his otherwise near-blind loyalty to the King.[19]
As for the Royal Retainers bowing to Ghost, there’s not much to say. While, yes, they do bow to you regardless of having the brand or not, it’s not far off to think they would have still bowed to the Hollow Knight back when it was a child, as it was the product of their beloved King. Ghost resembles the Hollow Knight, so it could easily be that. That said, since most would actually have the Brand by the time they go to the White Palace, it could also be a coding oversight. With the King’s Brand, Ghost is the King. This does not mean the Pale King, of course, but the King as in the ruler, as the brand has marked them as such.
And what does their Hunter’s Journal say about them, as MatPat so clearly points out? “The most loyal and devout servants of the King.”[20] Not even the Pale King, but simply the King. Doesn’t argue against the aforementioned points much, does it?
So, does it have to be that deep? No. Absolutely not.
Ghost’s heritage and the fact they hold the Kingsoul could essentially cover all the bases here.
Point #6: The Pale King Can Transform
This is a true fact. However, the most damning evidence here is that the King’s Brand in the Wyrm’s corpse seems to be on an egg, as Ellina states in the Journal.[21] This is likely the place the Pale King “hatched” from. Since we find no such egg near his corpse in the White Palace, it appears he’s pretty damn dead and isn’t coming back.
Bardoon may say that the death of a Wyrm may lead to “More transformation methinks,”[22] but that’s not quite solid enough to say that the Pale King had molted again. Bardoon also shows no signs of thinking of Ghost as a Wyrm, despite recognizing the Pale King and his brand being linked to such.
Point #7: Void
Let’s make this simple. The Void hates all forms of light, as seen by the lighthouse. The Pale King was using Void as well, and the Void hates his guts for that. To be reborn as a being primarily made of Void? He would probably self-destruct.
The Pale King also left the Kingdom in stasis, as Hornet states,[23] which could easily explain the “But yours is potential, eternity potential, force that could deny Time,“[4] quote.
MatPat also said he believed the egg near the throne room is where the Pale King hatched, and I think this has already been mentioned to likely be otherwise.[21]It’s more likely a failed attempt to hatching vessels in his little lab, as this resembles the egg Ghost had presumably hatched from.
Point #8: The Nursery Musicbox
This one’s also hard for me to explain, but it could also be MatPat made it illegal that leitmotifs are apparently not allowed to just be a callback.
I’m one to hate refuting a theory with another theory, but it has been suggested (and mentioned above) that the vessels may be the reanimated corpses of children of the Pale King and the White Lady. In this case, it would mean the children they had once been may have heard the song long ago, and the Shade remembers this past life.
Alternatively, the way Ghost and the Hollow Knight’s tales are entwined may also explain this, as it could have been the Hollow Knight’s room, once. But it’s shakier than the theory above.
Point #9: No Cost Too Great
This is the man who sacrificed millions, if not more, children just to contain a problem he caused. The cost was never directly tied to himself. Also, sure, maybe he’s redeemable somewhere, but I really cannot see him reincarnating into an even shorter entity.
And again, Ghost had hatched while the Pale King was still alive.[24] So. No.
Point #10: Ghost Can Wake Up Bugs from the Infection
I know we rouse Sly and Bretta from the infection’s clutches. But if we could really do this to any bug, why didn’t we do this with Myla? Or anyone else infected?
The first two seemed in a very early stage, maybe like sleepwalking at most. They could likely have been awaken by anyone else, had not the world been filled with infected individuals already.
Point #11: Monarch Wings
This is more my headcanon territory, but I would like to think that the Pale King could summon his own wings, and that set of wings? Might have been the Broken Vessel’s. Besides, we’re never given the opportunity to see if someone else can use the item.
Point #12: ...Father…?
Cut dialogue should always be taken with a grain of salt. That said, this could be a plea to their father, who Ghost does apparently remind some others of. Their mind has long since fell to the Radiance, so it’d be no surprise if they can’t distinguish the two. But this doesn’t mean Ghost is their father. The Hollow Knight was given a purpose by the Pale King, and they seemed to have loved him, and wanted to please him by being perfect, so to call out to their father in their weakest moment, wondering if he’s even out there…
Well, they were given the World Sense.[4] If they couldn’t find him that way, their resolve might have been shaken, but they’re still trying.
The rest of the cut Dream Nail dialogue[25] reads as if from the Radiance instead of the Hollow Knight, which leads to some interesting things. While “usurper” and “ancient enemy”[26] could hypothetically be linked to the Pale King, the Void is as much her enemy. Through Myla, she calls Ghost “the Empty One”[27] instead of “Wyrm” or some other term. She also states that “...THE LIGHT CANNOT BE CONSUMED...” The Pale King never consumed the Radiance and he is also of his own pale light.[28] But (while it can be held back by light) the Void wishes to snuff such radiance. In both the Dream No More and Embrace the Void endings, the Radiance is literally consumed by the Void. This makes it seem that in the end, she’s not talking to the threat of a Wyrm, but of simply a being of Void, no longer affiliated with Wyrm or Root.
Conclusion:
MatPat is a little shit that really should research more.
This is not to say I’m correct. Hell, I’d be glad if I’m even half correct. But when I can piece together an argument against that without too much issue, there’s something wrong here.
I need a source on this, but I remember seeing a post on Tumblr on how Hollow Knight is a game of acceptance, of who you were, of your past, and ultimately, your fate. It’s not about redemption.
It’s just achieving peace with your regrets and moving on, stronger.
Or at least, that’s how I’ve seen it.
I don’t see myself as right, but at least, I think I wrote something vaguely more solid, and found evidence to back it up. If nothing else, it was an excellent writing exercise. And for that I am thankful for the video.
I hope this was an enjoyable read for you, and I thank you for persisting this long.

SHAMAN KIGN ROLE PLAYER WANTED-URGENT!
Hello my name is Megan-I am a SHamAN kING fan like yourself. I have some questions if you will be kind to answer and also an idea to share. A. What is your favorite episode (s)
B. Do you know the characters very well?
C. DO you know how to role play?
D. Have you seen both sub and dub?
E. Have you read the manga?
F. If you know how to role play-what style? Script or Paragraph
I am asking these questions because I am seeking somebody to role play an awesome Shaman King idea with me and I know you have a life outside the net and your own schedule, if you can spare time here and there on my idea, if your interested, and/or know somebody who is a big shaman king fan and likes to play, I would very much appreciate it. Also along with playing, I would like to build a good friendship as fellow artists and dreamers. Here is my idea for the SHaman King RP based on the anime :) Summary: Diamond is a young shaman from Europe who grew up in a foster family that took her in when they found her during their travels. Her foster family owns and operates a circus and she is the star of the show. On the day of her 15th birthday she decides to venture from home to search for her real family which leads her to Japan. While there she befriends with Rio who offers to take her to Tokyo, yet soon she is attacked by mysterious enemies who work for a shady organization who are after her and have a key to her past. She possesses the legendary Beast Bracelet in which when she collects the legendary Beasts (Four guardians like in Chinese and japanese mythology) she can possess the power of the elements. Soon she and her new friends are in for an adventure of a lifetime to uncover the mysteries of an ancient civilization that holds a great treasure, defeat the organization who wishes to bring chaos to the world and uncover Diamond’s past. Pretty sweet huh? Also Diamond is a rookie shaman and she becomes Rio’s protege as she looks up to him as Aniki (Big brother). Also Diamond has a unique ability to talk to animals and has some spirits of her own-A tiger and a monkey, yet soon she begins to get more when she and her friends journey to find the legendary beasts. Requirements: + Must know the characters well + Must know the show/manga Well (Seen every episode (English and Japanese with subs) and read the manga) + Flexible hours   + Knows how to role play and puts lots of detail, emotion, etc in it   + Accepts OCS (And has some interesting OCS that MIGHT flex into the story-If you have a Shaman King OC or whatnot)   + Has interesting ideas to spice up the story. Anyway its all about having fun and embracing the love of Shaman by making our own adventures. Now the requirements may have changed somewhat or can be changed to befit both sides if needed and also the main point is having fun and letting your imagination run wild. :) Also if you don't know how to role play-I'd be happy to teach you. I know you all have your busy schedules, lives and whatnot and so do I-BUT for awhile or sometimes or when you got free time here and there, if any of you out there are willing to put your time into something awesomeYou know where to find me :3https://www.deviantart.com/fairygal11I am on deviantart. Fun With Lovecraftian Things Part 4.2: Romance Continued
Part 4.1
When last we left our pair they were just starting to get to know each other. Tonight they do that some more.
“Do you usually fall over this often?” the ancient voice questions, a sense of amusement in the words.
Kate blows the hair out of her face as she gets herself up. “It’s not every day a girl talks to an ancient god-thing.”
“It could be.”
Her lips curl into a smile. Were she not restraining herself it would be much larger and perhaps even accompanied by a giggle if she were to truly embrace the moment. Kate sits properly in her chair. “About me, hm. Uh, my name is Kate.”
“Do your people still use family names?” It asks.
“We call them last names usually. Why, you want to look me up on facebook?” She asks.
A sourceless wind seems to rush away from Kate. “I would never! The Black Tome of Agony is not a thing to be trifled with, let alone to use on you.”
Kate’s jaw drops. “Oh god, there is literally a book made of faces isn’t there?”
“I apologise, there was clearly a misunderstanding. Your last name?” It says, returning to the topic at hand.
“Bridges. Kate Bridges. Bachelor’s degree, Master’s, working on my Doctorate. Not a whole lot else.” She says.
“The Tuttoke, they are the focus of your studies?” It asks.
“Yes.”
The voice seems to float around the room, pacing almost. “Outside of your studies, what do you indulge in?”
Kate shrugs. “Netflix and greasy food.”
“Do you dance?”
She stifles a bout of violent laughter. “No. No. It’s more like pop, lock and stop it.”
“Shame, I think you would make a fine dancer. Perhaps you just need the proper partner.” It says.
She smirks. “Can we please get back to the history of the Tuttoke?”
“Of course. You have suffered my inquisition long enough. I will give you all you wish, every second of their existence is yours to know.” The voice returns from it’s pacing to her table.
“The beginning please.” Kate leans in towards where the voice seems to come from and stares intently at a form she can only imagine.
“I turned my sight upon earth by chance. A peculiar planet with an interesting grouping of life, so I looked upon it more. There lay a human man, he was attached to the dream realm, asleep. I met him in his dreaming and discussed his plight. He was having difficulty providing food. His dilemma seemed simple and I assured him it would be solved. When he awoke, he was twice the size of any man and easily caught and killed anything he pleased for food. It was quite the interesting development.” It says.
Kate stares blankly into space. “The first shaman king. The giant. He was real.”
The two talk at length about the history of the Tuttoke. Wherever possible Pl’thad’grthain steers the conversation to Kate. The two share many stories and anecdotes. They laugh honestly together and Kate feels an ease of authenticity she has not felt in some time.
“You know, you’re not so bad when my brain isn’t struggling to reconcile your existence with it’s own.” She says.
“That means a great deal to me, Kate. I have not shared in the laughter of another since before the human race existed. I hope you received as much from our conversation as I did.”
Kate taps a stack of papers. “I think this should pretty much do it for awhile. Honestly, I could probably build my career on this alone.” She smiles at her stack and then a realization strikes her. “Wait, how long have we been talking?” She checks her phone. “Two minutes?”
“Time compression. I didn’t want us to be rushed. I could do more, we could stay in this moment for eternity.” It says.
“No.” Kate shakes her head. “Nope, that’s weird. I would like to be back in normal time.”
“As you wish, what time would you like it to be?” It complies.
“6:30 pm?” Kate suggests. The world around her seems to shake briefly, like a sudden glitch in a video and after her phone reads precisely 6:30. “Wow. Thanks. Look, this has been...good. I need to get home, though. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“I will come whenever you call out to me. This is my promise.” It says.
“Cool.” Kate goes home and performs her normal evening routine. Her thoughts, however, are anything but normal. After hours of struggling with her own understanding of reality and her feelings towards the one who steps outside it she resolves to go to sleep and see what the next day brings.
She arrives at the university in the morning and heads to her lab. Sitting down at her computer she starts working on arranging notes and reviewing e-mails from those still at the dig site. She feels alone at her desk for the first time.
She looks to the golden statue then down at the bandage on her hand. “Not doing that again.” she thinks. Kate reviews some of her notes and is reminded of food offerings the Tuttoke people would use for giving thanks or other smaller matters.
Kate grabs some food from the cafeteria and with a sigh of disbelief in her own actions places a hamburger at the base of the statue. To her surprise the burger becomes almost molten in nature and appears to seep into the statue.
The voice returns, emanating from the statue. “A cow, slaughtered and burned. How traditional.”
“It’s called a burger and sorry it was burnt, they have a new guy back there and I don’t think he is fully awake yet.” Kate says.
“I missed you.” It says.
Kate stops typing and looks to the golden form. “I think I missed you too.”

Del padre y del hijo _C3_
Tumblr media
Anime: Shaman King
Rating: M
Pareja: Silver x Anna x Hao
Sinopsis: Desde la muerte de su esposo, la mujer comenzó a odiar el parecido entre padre e hijo, pues la hacía creer que de cierta forma, él seguía allí con ella.
Advertencia: Lemon (NSFW)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Por: Maeda Ai.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
.:: Capítulo 3 ::.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
.
 * Vuelve, Silver !. . . vuelve conmigo. . . *
 * Tonterías. *
No quería pensar, no quería recordar. . . no quería sufrir.
. . tan bien.
 * ¡Silver!. *

 * ¿De qué hablas?. *
 * Y tú estuviste de acuerdo. *
* Eso fue antes de que te metieras en mi cama !!. *
. . ¡qué enredo! ^0^.

Thank you for your ask!! 💚 Let’s see…
1. Talk about the first ship you ever had.
Oh my, it must have been Mamoru and Usagi from back when I first watched Sailor Moon, though I learnt what a ship was much later, probably around the time I shipped Kodomo no Omocha’s Sana/Akito or Shaman King’s Anna/Yoh (crushed real bad for Anna for sure). These two were the first ships I actually devoured fanfic about, and my first! posted! on a site! fanfic writing began with a Anna/Yoh fic (oh the twisted plots that fortunately never came to be :D).
23. Which of your ships deserve better writing?
C-H-E-R-I-K (in the alternate timeline movies at least).
Seriously, Erik’s character needs exploring beyond trauma and poor decision-making, and Charles needs to be shown as more powerful and ruthless. At this point I feel that if the writers decided to switch their usual takes on Charles and Erik they would probably do more justice to the characters’ potential. *clenches fist*
28. Does shipping come easily to you?
Extremely so. I remember sitting in a theatre watching The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and thinking “Oh, look, they’re lovers!” as soon as Finnick showed up wearing Haymitch’s bracelet to show Katniss he was on her side. That’s what I thought. They’re lovers. xD
