Little WIP of a makeover of Darkwing House in Britechester

-->And sent them off to San Myshuno and their grocery store! I had Alice open the place up in the hopes that it would allow her to greet customers (she is bizarrely buggy in that regard), then had everyone change into their hot weather wear since it was pretty warm in the city (well, technically Smiler was ALREADY in hot weather wear, but I decided I wanted them to wear a different set – went with the silly backwards cap and sunglasses XD). There was a brief moment of flirtation on the sidewalk outside their store (Victor and Smiler sharing a kiss, and Victor and Alice holding hands while Smiler looked on with a grin – think I've found another "compersion"-related Valicertine picture there) –

-->And then – RETAIL TIME! Starting with the first customer of the day, (pre-refresh) Bella Goth! I was pleased to see that Alice WAS able to greet customers this time around and had her go say hi to Bella – a process that took some doing as Bella kept wandering around the store before Alice could reach her, but she got there in the end. Meanwhile, a super-confident Smiler went straight up to visiting Sulanian Ukupanipo (I THINK he’s a mermaid, but wouldn’t swear to it), greeted him, and immediately closed the deal, getting the guy to buy a bag of deodorant gummies for $179. XD Smiler and Victor then proceeded to chat with other customers while Alice kept working on Bella – she eventually closed the deal on her too, though it didn’t result in quite as spectacular a sale – Bella, as it turned out, only wanted a mere jar of meat substitute for $24. Aurelio Robles buying a bottle of milk from the fridges unprompted netted them more profit, as that cost him $25. XD Still, a sale’s a sale! While all this was happening, though, I noticed some displays were looking a bit manky, and prepared to have Victor magically clean them –

-->And then went “WAIT. YOU HAVE BEEN MEANING TO DO THIS FOR AGES, INCLUDING RIGHT BEFORE THEY LEFT FOR THE STORE TODAY. BIND HIS DRAGON FAMILIAR TO HIM FIRST.”

So I did. XD And thus Victor ended up with a very cute dark purple dragon buddy named Darkwing (the pre-generated name, I quite liked it and thus stuck with it) flying behind him for the rest of the day as he did his thing. :) I will always be a bit salty that you can’t do more with familiars than just watch them hang around your Sim (and bring said Sim back to life if they overload and die), but they do LOOK absolutely adorable, and I’m glad Victor was able to get the dragon one I so wanted him to get. :) Now if only he could cuddle the little guy...ah well.

Darkwing Row Townhomes

I found myself in Britechester in my blank save file and I decided to build on-campus townhomes for University of Britchester students on the 30x20 Darkwing House lot, while figuring out the mechanics of the Residential Rental system.

I worked primarily on laying out the exterior as well as the floor plans (the townhomes on the right and left are mirrors of each other to spice it up a bit), with @felixandresims, @harrie-cc and @peacemaker-ic coming in clutch, like always. I'm very curious to see how this turns out!

Sidebar: I'm SUPER aware that I have a few unfinished Sims and builds hanging out there right now, and that irritates me to no end, but for right now, I'm just going with the flow. Hopefully, when I'm feeling a bit better, I'll be able to complete and share more with you in the future!

I don’t know if it happens to you - but I often find myself with a sudden urge to rebuild worlds - Even though I’m the worst sim-builder and sim-decorator in the whole history of Sims 😋 And in my quest for lots there’s one thing that stresses me out all the time: where will the builds fit in the map?! 🤯 Therefore, I have been creating some personal lists with favourite lots and I thought why not sharing them with you too!

Britechester Redux | Darkwing House

“This cottage sitting on the edge of campus was rumored to once be the home of Felix Psyded, founder of the University of Britechester. The cozy home has been updated through the years for student housing so that some could have a house away from home.”

I’ve seen some criticism about this house but honestly, it’s one of my favorite EA builds in a pack filled with surprisingly good builds. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a good cottage! I decided to renovate with a fairly light touch on the exterior, adding a few nooks and crannies so things aren’t so square (boxy is a hard look to pull off in-game) and softening things up with our new debug ivy. 

Inside, the layout has been slightly revamped to allow for 4 separate bedrooms and a large collaborative studio space because—drumroll please—Darkwing House is now officially affiliated with the Art Society! Each of the student bedrooms is decorated with a different artistic focus in mind: street art, photography, graphic design, and painting (they’re really into pop art). The creativity of the students in residence carries through the rest of the home, with paintings, sketches, murals, and graffiti on display here, there, and everywhere. 

I hope you enjoy this EA lot renovation! I’m having a ton of fun renovating in Britechester and can’t wait to share more with you!

BRITECHESTER

Begin a new chapter in the historical University of Britechester or modern Foxbury Institute. Live in a dorm room or off-campus in the welcoming town of Gibbs Hill. Explore Britechester on a bicycle, spend time in the student commons, and have a study session at the library. Cheer on the student body at a school spirit event and wear school colors to show your Sim’s pride.

THE WORLD All lots are renovated and I tried to add some more gameplay objects that should be useful for your sims attending university. TOOL was used to add some new decorative/gameplay objects outside the playable area but you don’t need the mod for the save to work.

3 Residential Lots: - Honeydew Fields (Starter Home); - Spring Steppes (Occupied by the Elderberry Household); - Mossy Lane (Occupied by the Pleasant Household).

THE SIMS Premade sims have been given makeovers including fixed relationships, likes and dislikes, new careers and skills. I also added Dirk Dreamer and Dustin Broke from Get Famous (they’re not famous anymore) to the Pleasant Household and set their relationships accordingly.

Best of Friends Julia and Becca have been the best of friends since they first met in kindergarten. Nobody that knows them could imagine them going to university without the other one by her side. Now as they're starting a whole new journey into university it's up to the pair to see if their friendship will survive this new adventure and carry them through to adulthood.

Pleasant Angela and Lilith have moved into an old family home located in Gibbs Hill to attend university. It will be a true test to find out whether their bond as twins can overcome their differences. Their majors have already split them into separate universities, but whether they will be at odds or work together to make it through is a new challenge in their life. Dustin and Dirk have yet to find the perfect degree but for now they're just happy supporting the girls in this new journey.

Elderberry Ekram and Eleanore have lived in Gibbs Hill all their lives from young love, to a growing family, and finally into retirement. Eleanore loves seeing the new students appear each term, but Ekram isn't always as fond of the young adults taking over their quiet town. Recently the couple's teenage grandson, Rohan, came to live with them as he prepares to go to university soon. Rohan will soon finish high school and have to make his final decision on what university he wants to attend.

Fletcher Cameron Fletcher is all about learning new things at school, he's just not sure how to make friends with the people around him. But with just a little nudge in the right direction Cameron is sure to master university life.
