omg plotting these next chapters has been like wrangling a gaggle of distracted puppies, so take this with a grain of salt bc i'll probably change my mind on what order I want to put these scenes in AGAIN lmao

WAIT AAHH I HAVE PUPPY PICS TOO THEY ARE FROM LAST YEAR BUT WHO CARES

Spoilers (and puppies) under the cut!

First, authorly rambles! (just skip this lol): I try and strike a balance between things happening when they logically should in these chapters in terms of character development and plot progression in the overall story, while also delivering something of a cohesive whole on a chapter-by-chapter basis. I also want to manage how things are coming off tonally, by allowing some sort of levity/breathing room for the reader. I don't necessarily want a chapter to be like "angst / angst / angst / action scene / more angst" without allowing some sunshine to peek through -- it's a pacing thing too, right? I try to be delicate with you lovely folks who are reading, bc as much as the initial goal was to write this story for myself, I want you to have a good time too 💝

ANYWAY, the point I'll (eventually) make here is: these scenes might get shuffled around a bit, bc for the above reasons, I don't want to hit you back to back with:

WELP Luca killed someone! Lad's got some Shit To Deal With

Delphine has some fucking Trauma To Process!

Seth is still having fugues! Dude is STRESSED but keeping quiet about it!

Have we mentioned Cas and Gabe still have a lot on their plate too?

Like, I love a good bit of angst, but all things in balance, hey? ✨✨✨

(also there is a Cas/Gabriel smut scene coming very soon, and I don't want the placement of it to be tonal whiplash if its too angsty beforehand lmao)

Okay, actual spoilers now for Chapter 33 (Slowly We Begin to Find Our Way Home) !!

Cas and Gabriel engage in The Great Toast Debate 2016 (Cas was not invited to Gabriel's house, he's just there bc he's gone without attention for more than an hour and he's slowly shriveling up inside)

We get a phone call from Viktor! (who is also withering from lack of attention)

Luca gets stuck in to research at the Nexus and it is a hyperfocussed lore gremlin's dream come true

We get to see Delphine! She and Cas have a much-needed hang out at the Venandi Fighting Pits 🥹

We'll also see some familiar faces we haven't heard from lately!
