Hello, you are feeding my newly formed Vargas addiction and I am pleased. May I have Scriabin being a lil bitch? He is one and we all know it.
Glad to hear it lol ♫
Sorry but you just missed Requestober this year and I’m on hiatus for the moment :P I always encourage going through the backlog though, because luckily, he is always a little bitch ♥

Hi, this is my first time ever requesting something so I'm sorry if I don't give enough detail. I'm disabled in real life, so finding fics to read that accurately represent my experience are hard to come by. I'm a wheelchair user, however I can stand. I'm also visually impaired, so I have special glasses to read and really get around with. I'm just going to get to the point and ask if you could do head canons with a non binary reader on how azul, silver, and leona would kinda help them get around the school? Maybe how they would deal with people who tease them as well? Please and thank you ❤️ (apologies for any grammatical errors or anything, I'm half asleep)
- 🫧 (idk i like this emoji)
🫧 Anon, this spoke to me on a personal level and also sang to me. It means so much I am one of the first you trusted with such a request, and I hope I did you justice! ⊂(・﹏・⊂) I have impaired vision as well, but I'm not as severe that regular glasses with high specs can't help it... I also made all levels of motor and optical disabilities able to read this work, just choose which one feels closer to your experience!
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Azul, Leona, and Silver show how they would help their partner across the school, and how they handle their bully!
Ships: Azul × GN!Reader, Leona × GN!Reader, and Silver × GN!Reader
Disclaimer: Reader has impaired physical mobility and eyesight, and I included multiple layers for different levels of severity (read the part that aligns with you the most)! Reader is also not adverse to touch, they just have to get permission. (I am no expert on having to need a wheelchair and such, so I'm happy to say that I was able to embody people learning to help their significant other)

🍵 Azul Ashengrotto
○ Azul greets you merrily each time he sees you, in or out of your chair! You can usually hear him if you enter the Monstro Lounge, him entertaining the customers of course, but he's always the most soft for you.
○ The Monstro Lounge does have short elevations of level to separate the bar area and the main floor of the cafe, and if you need any help up, he'll gladly lend an arm.
○ If you do not wish/cannot get up to the next level, he will join you upon the main floor and greet you affectionately in your chair. If you're even willing to stay a while, he'll pull up a chair and sit at one of his tables with you to talk, he's not going to force you to stare up the whole time.
○ Always asks you if you'd like any help wheeling across campus, as this college can be large and quite spacious. If you're walking next to him with/without a cane, simply for a short distance, he will not hover and will allow you freedom; he trusts you to know his limits, and you must trust him to know yours!
○ Depending on your visual impairment, he may be a bit more concerned for you. But rest assured, he knows properly how to deal with blind to visually impaired persons, as the sea is full of all kinds of life that he and his mother worked with that had similar situations.
○ If your vision is blind or near blind, he can be slow and expressive quite easily: he has heels that click, he has a suit and scarf that flap and rustle, he has a voice of a performer and stage-host! He is also always asking as best he can for your permission to do anything, and can still slip up sometimes; but he's much more prepared than you think.
○ If you're not blind but a part of the large stigmatism group, he can easily relate to your struggles. His kind has naturally bad vision, and he might need glasses on land forever, but he will not compare your situations. He has more common sense than that.
○ In private, he's already gotten the motions down for helping you if need be, he's just a bit more emotional if you two are in private.
○ He's not perfect, but I will say he's very prepared and was brought up by a very supportive mother!
○ And a bully or rather rude individual? He's already handled it, if you tell him.
○ Azul had a change of heart after his Overblot situation, and is proactive in some anti-bullying practices at school. Anti-bullying, meaning sicking the twins on them and perhaps even spreading a rumor or two about them! You see; breaking your glasses as a joke, and stopping your chair from moving by holding the bars…
○ That's not behavior befitting of anyone near his dear partner, and he'll make sure it doesn't happen again. You now have glasses from a more comfortable frame, and you now have an upgraded walking cane just in case… knees need breaking.
○ But in the end, his forehead kisses goodbye are saccharine and genuine for you…
🍹 Leona Kingscholar
○ I'm so sorry about this; Savanaclaw is probably the worst dorm to be in sometimes, and it's not the most wheelchair friendly… if at all friendly to begin with. If was practical made for the abled bodied and active people here, it's… gonna be rough
○ Well, if you didn't have the support of Leona (and Ruggie, and Jack) around here. If you are truly unable to move your legs, there are very few elevators around Savanaclaw and they are all in the central building. If you're able to walk, it might not be so bad… but dragging around your chair over every rock output will suck.
○ So, you might get Leona walking around you and asking, with a sigh, if you want his help getting around. He's not upset with helping you, he's just silently regretting taking you here for a nap…
○ Of course, if you allow him to carry you, it's literally no issue at all for him. He's strong and has great balance as an athlete (if you need his help), and your chair is safely levitated with magic behind him like it's nothing! Don't worry, it'll be fine herbivore, drop your concern…
○ Leona is the rash type, but he's not stupid. If you vision is blind to near blindness: he always announces his presence upon entering your space, but might touch you by accident with a hand on your shoulder or with his tail. Sorry about that… he'll fix that, he really does care. He has no problem at all with helping any other astigmatism type, he might find glasses cute on you if anything…
○ Leona sometimes wishes to meet in places without the stone ledges, the wooden open-gap stairs, and the rope bridges. It's a hassle for the both of you, no matter the severity of your disability, and can often sometimes lead to him feeling bad for taking you there…
○ So he's going to stick with taking you to the botanical garden or even just the main campus' yard, it'll save both of you the finicky work of trying to levitate your chair over the bridges and into the rooms without hitting the door (Ruggie and Jack always volunteer to help carry, and that's up to you, but sometimes Leona is all there is on hand).
○ Leona likes to nap and be stationary, so you don't have to worry about him moving away from you too much. If at all. He'd more likely curl into you if you lay down with him.
○ He'd take laying with you over walking anywhere, anyways. So he'll lay just about anywhere you want to stop and rest: the courtyard grass, the bushes in the botanical garden, or against a tree.
○ Now, he's got good hearing… and if his ears catch a Savanaclaw student insult throwing at you two while on one of his naps, he'll be upset. His pride is being tested, and taking a partner in you is not something he regrets or will take shit about. Because you're his, and he yours.
○ On a regular day, Leona isn't around at all times so you might wonder why he is late for your short, few hours together… and then he strolls up, forty minutes late, with magic practical radiating off of him like a firecracker. But he says he's just fine, got out of Spelldrive practice early.
○ But his smile is genuine, and Savanaclaw members giving you a respectable berth of space is nice (but if only you knew).
☕ Silver
○ Contrary to popular belief, the Briar Valley is very forward for supporting individuals and their needs. Just not if it's in need of anything technical or electrical based. And Silver is very respectful, if not a tad bit too eager to ask questions.
○ But asking questions can never be too bad if it's to make you comfortable, he thinks. He asks about your sight distance (if you're not fully blind), he asks how strong your legs are and how far they can carry you (if you haven't explained you're fully paralyzed), and much more.
○ Silver has seen generals with missing legs, ex-commanders blinded by magic, and possibly just common disabilities all around the Valley, but everyone has strong magic at home. Levitating for those unable to walk, magic fields to read who or what is nearby, and limbs made of pure magic and some sort of metal or wooden limb…
○ (If you're a normal human) He knows magic can not fix all your problems and pledges to be a part of your life positively and without strain to you both.
○ If you're blind or near blind, he's very quiet… you might have to ask him to announce himself sometimes. But he wears nearly all leather and marches like a soldier, you know someones there, you just can't tell if it's him or Sebek. If your astigmatism is not on that level, he doesn't react to your glasses much. But will make note that Sebek's father wears glasses too, and fa–Lilia wears them to read sometimes.
○ Silver is weary of having to carry you, for obvious reasons. He doesn't know if carrying you (if need be) will end up with him falling asleep so he tries really hard to avoid it if you two are alone. You two might need to talk about his and your worries, and you might have to be comforting him about this. He just… doesn't want to fail you…
○ Your first test is probably to have Silver help you set-up your chair and gear, and to help you in and out of it (just in case of emergencies).
○ You found ways for this to be successful, so you test his escorting skills: Silver only carries or helps you down stairs if it's those large ass Diasomnia stairs that curve. If you can walk, it's just Silver helping you down stairs without rails. If you can't, it's Silver carrying you up a bit and back down to train how to carry you.
○ Ultimately, he enjoys the help. He always was a more hands-on learner and he thanks you, with that stoic face of his, from the bottom of his heart for the experience. And for allowing yourself to be in such perilous hands such as his (be careful Silver, you sound like Sebek)... !
○ Tell him it was nothing, you trusted him and he did well. He might want to hug and just rest his head on you for a bit… and that leads to him falling asleep on you, even if just for a second. You make him feel so whole inside.
○ Bullying… that's a hard topic for Silver. Silver is very bull-headed and one-track minded, and believes a lot at face value (look at Leona's Ceremonial Robes card). He might not even get why you're upset at first unless you say the obvious words for bullying, such as: harassing, heckling, shoving, grabbing, et cetera.
○ Don't judge him too harshly (he was lied to by Leona so obviously, and he still fell for it)... He will do everything in his power to stop these bullies of yours, and protect your person as well.
○ As a Diasomnia student, his reputation precedes him, and within a day it seems like nothing had happened and the people were silenced. Silver is pushing you through the halls for you to relax in his room, when Malleus passed you both. And you could have sworn you saw a flash of a pleased smile across his face as you wave to him.

What should I do if I want to find a specific tumblr post? Is there anywhere I can go to? Is there anyone I can ask for help? Is the search engine really broken or am I the only one don't know how to use it? Sorry if the ask seems irrelevant but I don't know better. You are the reason I'm here and I like to be here. Thank you!
Oh yeah, no problem! If I dragged you here then I'm glad you're at least enjoying it :D
Searching for anything on tumblr is famously rough. 😜 It's much easier to do on a browser and not in the app, though. If you know it's on a specific user's blog and know (or suspect) what it was tagged with, you can go to username.tumblr.com/tagged/insert+tag+here (with plus signs instead of spaces) and that should show you most (all?) of the posts using that tag. If you think you remember a word or phrase in the post and want to search in both the tags and the post content, try username.tumblr.com/search/insert+search+term+here instead. If you think you know when a user might have posted something, go to username.tumblr.com/archive to view thumbnails of a lot of posts at once that you can sort through easily by date.
If you don't know who might have posted something specifically or when, you can search on Google and limit results to tumblr posts by adding site:tumblr.com to the search, and if you put a phrase in quotation marks it will search for that phrase specifically.
The app search function is... an option. It's a bit of a lottery, but I usually try that first since I'm usually on mobile anyway. The other methods are much more reliable though, and assuming I have a pretty decent memory of the post in question, I can usually find it... eventually. Hope that helps!

Okay, so @marksassybanana commented on my fic and I wanna answer it here
Oh, to be able to train with Zoro 😔🙏🏻 Jk, I think I would NOT get out of there alive. Thank you for sharing this, it was really cute 🥺 Also, since you said you're a gym rat, sorry to bother lol, but I just started working out for my abs and to shape my glutes. I'm doing some exercises I saw on TikTok, but I don't know if they're the most effective ones, and also I don't know how I should divide my weekly workout. Do you have any suggestions? And also- - I want to work mainly on abs and glutes, but should my weekly workout always include days focused on other parts of my body? Or can I just focus on those alternating days between the two?
First of all, ty!! v glad you liked my writing <3
And np, I love sharing my knowledge about working out lol just ask me whatever, whenever
So, I train focusing on hypertrophy (muscle growth) and cardio (to reduce bodyfat and keep fit). Usually I divide it like leg/cardio/arm/cardio/leg+arm days, including mobility exercises on cardio days. My friends, on the other hand, usually have a dynamic that is arm/leg/chest/back/leg with cardio by the end of each day. Since you want to focus on abs and glutes, I would recommend leg day 2 or 3 times a week (considering you work out Mon-Fri) and the rest of the days focusing on upper body. Don't forget cardio, by the way! The bodyfat percentual can influence a lot since it needs to be relatively low (below 30% if I'm not wrong) so your abs start showing. You should always exercise your whole body both because it's healthy and also to keep things proportional. Don't forget rest days, by the way! Have at least one day off, drink a lot of water and sleep well for good muscle development
For abs, don't forget you need to exercise upper, lower and obliques. Some tips: upper (v-sitting, reverse crunches), lower (leg raises, mountain climbers), obliques (grounded russian twists, oblique crunch).
Regarding glutes, I really like hip thrusts (really defines it), forward lunges, maching hamstring curls, abductor exercises, bulgarian split squats... don't forget it's also important to have your thighs in shape so everything looks proportional and nice <3
Regarding cardio days, I usually do it like this 15 minutes on the treadmill (4min warmup + alternating btw sprinting and walking for 2min + 1min slow walk), 15 min bike, 30 to 40min with other cardio (like mountain climbers, jumping squats) then treadmill + bike again. Sometimes i follow some plans from this site
You can visit sites like MuscleWiki, tiktok user leanbeefpatty, spotebi, Muscle & Fitness (extra one from M&F)
Some extra tips: For muscle growth, try making 3 series of 8-12 reps (if you do more than 12, add more weight; if you do less than 8, take off some weight) For fitness, go for 3-4 series of 15 reps
remember to always listen to your body to prevent injuries and keep safe! I hope this helps you! <3

storm triplets anon here! i uh…need a little review for the lightning quirk. its in no ways done, but i wanted to have your feedback on it.(also sorry im sending this on mobile) Quirk: Electrified Description: The user possesses a large lightning mark on their back. The quirk activates when the user claps its hands. When it activates, the mark on the user’s back lights up and is ‘electrified’ and the user temporarily transitions into a powerful state, (1/4)
visually looking like they’ve been struck by lightning. There, the user’s senses have been greatly enhanced, reaction time and speed greatly modified, and the user is surrounded by powerful electrical energy which they can control up to a very limited area around them. This state can be used to travel far distances, aid in mobility, and amplify forces of attacks. The mark at the back represents the amount of energy the user has left, so they must be careful to conserve their energy. (2/4)
When the transformation runs out, the user is left with the drawbacks of numbness of receptors all over their body, as well as general physical tiredness depending on the energy they consume. I was thinking of the user being able to do partial transformations, where the energy doesn’t have to collect all the way for the user to use it, though it is weaker than the full transformation, but I’m not too sure about that. I am also struggling to find a way where the user could collect the energy. (3/4)
Do they make it themselves through general physical rest? Get it from natural resources like sunlight? Don’t know about that aspect yet. And also, aside from the non specific uses for the quirk, what do you think are other creative ways to use it? As always, I appreciate your constant feedback on the quirks people send you. Please take all the time you need for this ask, it’s kinda long haha. Thank you and have a wonderful day! (4/4)
First off, nice to see you back. I hope I can help you out again. Though I’ve already talked about how an electrical Quirk like this could be used before, so I will focus on the Quirk here.
I think that this works fine. I've even done something similar to it before with "Direct Current". I'm not sure about controlling it, as the user is already getting all the benefits from this, but you could still have it so they can shock people on contact. I don't exactly understand the point of having the user's senses enhanced with the Quirk. I just don't see the through line of the user enhancing themselves with electricity and boosting their senses. Unless there is something I am not getting about how powers like these usually work. That or the lightning symbol, but it doesn't really hurt anything. Also, this doesn't really affect the Quirk, but I would put the lightning symbol on the user's chest. It would be a neat center piece for a hero costume and could work as a reference to Shazam. I think that the user getting it from a personal reserve that charges up would be fine and would help balance the Quirk some. You could have it so the user gains it from absorbing sources of sunlight or electricity, but I think that both of those would be too easy of a source to draw on for a power like this. Though if you do do that, I'm not sure about slowing the user down like that, as both accomplish the same thing of keeping the user from using it too long. Maybe the parts that slow the user down could come from after draining their battery as a result of using the Quirk without the proper energy to fuel it.

so, i've been using my cane for a couple weeks now, and something i've noticed is that now that i use it most of the time i am worse at walking without it, and that terrifies me a little. so, okay, i don't use it at home because i don't like using it around my family, and i've noticed that i'm way more off balance than i used to be, i get tired quicker when i don't have it, and i generally feel more like shit than i used to (i use my cane for balance and leg weakness/general fatigue, for context) and is this normal?
like, i've been trying to equate it to my glasses, because they're both aids, and like, before i got glasses i thought i could see fine, but as soon as i got them and put them on the world snapped into crystal clarity, and when i took them off again the world was way blurrier than it had been before i put them on, but the glasses didn't make my vision /worse/ they just gave me actual clarity, and thus i could then tell how bad my vision was before, but i don't know if that's how it's supposed to work with canes, and i'm worried that all the shit my mother says about growing to rely on canes is right and now i'm just wondering if i've actually made a mistake by getting one even though it helps, because now i'm wondering if it's actually hurting me.
i'm sorry to dump this on you, but i have no one else to talk to about this stuff, any advice or anything you can offer is really appreciated.
hey, i’m sorry this is concerning you, i can totally understand that being scary! i’m not an expert by any means but i am halfway through a master’s in biomedical engineering with research experience in biomechanics of mobility aids (i study how we walk) and i’ve been using a cane for 4 1/2 years (and axillary crutches + hiking stick for about two years before then) so from both personal and professional experience i think it’s incredibly likely what you’re experiencing is like the glasses metaphor you described.
there can be changes in your body due to mobility aid usage, including deconditioning & muscle atrophy, but this subject is not as simple as doctors (and ableist parents lol) try to present it for several reasons:
ambulatory mobility aid usage should be compared to not walking, not to walking unaided. there is no world in which i am an able-bodied person and walk like one! it’s not gonna happen! what was gonna happen if i didn’t start using a cane was that my near-falls would become actual falls and i would walk way less because of that risk + because it hurt more.
if you do want to minimize muscle atrophy and deconditioning, it can be managed. there are lots of resources on low-impact exercises for folks who are mobility aid users, bedbound, etc. walking is not the only way to move your body!
when, how, and how much you move your body is a choice that should be yours to make. if any—or all!—exercise fucking hurts, it’s okay to say fuck this and not do it. you do not owe it to anyone to be as able-bodied as possible. if there are certain things you want or need to be able to do for the practicality of existing in an inaccessible world, that’s totally understandable! but that prioritization should be yours to choose. personally i prioritize what’s gonna minimize my pain, which brings me to my next point:
usually, bodily changes lead to mobility aid changes, not the other way around. me using a cane wasn’t a “slippery slope” to using a mobility scooter; my condition degenerated because i was receiving zero treatment. i can’t exercise my autoimmune disorder away. and sometimes using a less supportive aid makes you realize you would benefit more from another one (platform crutches because they offload more weight from your lower body! a rollator because you’ll always have a place to sit!) and that’s an adjustment, yes, but it’s also something that should be celebrated
full disclosure i haven’t actually done any comparative studies of using a cane versus walking unaided (all of my research compares between different mobility aids and in my opinion asking someone to walk unaided is inherently unethical, like, that’s torture) but based on the electromyography studies i have conducted, i’d be willing to bet that the difference in muscle activation between using a cane and walking unaided is very minimal. most changes are based on how much weight you can offload into the device, and with a cane, the upper threshold on that is comparatively super low! again, there’d be nothing wrong if it did cause a big difference in muscle usage, it’d just be something to be aware of, but i really don’t think that’s common.
some personal experience that may be reassuring for you:
across four years of mobility aid usage, my balance when walking unaided never deteriorated. it only started changing about six months ago when my overall coordination got way worse due to my conditions getting worse
i’ve worked as a researcher on a balance study funded by multiple large, reputable national organizations where the goal was to rehabilitate people’s balance through building muscle strength. we measured my own balance using the assessment technology and the primary investigator (ie my boss) was very clear that 1) yes, the range in which i could catch myself to prevent a fall was smaller than an able-bodied person; 2) this was because it hurts significantly worse to put more weight on one leg or the other rather than distributed equally; 3) the solution for fall prevention would be to continue using mobility aids that decreased pain and increased my base of support, not to try to exercise my way out of chronic pain, thereby increasing the pain i experience which would increase my fall risk
when i first got a cane, i was planning to only use it when i was going to a big event or something (i purchased it prior to my first Pride), but it made such a huge difference that after the first day practicing using it i never left home without it
are there certain risks to mobility aid use? sure. but there are also risks to trying to force your body to walk unaided when your body is telling you that’s dangerous. i’m not judging your decision either way—back when i was capable of doing so, i was certainly strategically closeted about being disabled and would keep my cane folded in a bag or in the car—but i absolutely do not think your cane is hurting you when all the factors are weighed. ultimately, as long as you’re making an informed decision, it’s the right one.
wishing you all the best with this journey, it’s definitely something i’ve wrestled with a lot 💕💕

Little late getting to these -- that's fully the fault of a class project I spent all of Monday/Tuesday and most of Wednesday working on -- but I finished my project and wrote up some long replies to these!
(Apologies for any funny formatting -- I'm trying out the beta for the new post editor!)
Tumblr media
Absolutely not.
Tumblr media
Nope! There are a few people who do know (other guides Andrew's met before, the Dryad, and I'd imagine the Witch Doctor knows something's up even if he doesn't know why), but none of them live in Purity Town proper, and the Dryad and Witch Doctor aren't the kind to participate in rumors or spread what isn't theirs to share. The old man is also aware just because he and Andrew have talked about their curses, but he's 1) not currently in town and 2) not going to share even if he were.
Most folks don't know much about Andrew in general; Becca probably knows the most out of the townsfolk, knowing a little bit about his family and where he's from (he has some pretty specific skills as a hunter that betray this, but he doesn't talk about his exact town of birth), but no specifics and certainly not time periods.
Andrew is good at keeping things quiet; he has to be.
Tumblr media
I would actually appreciate if you didn't post to Pinterest -- usually I'm fine with people reposting with credit (several of the things I've posted to my DeviantArt have found their way to Instagram, for example) but Pinterest has something of a reputation for stolen art (things being reposted from another Pinterest post without credit this time, or credit being hard to view for users not logged in or just viewing through Google). So reposting elsewhere is fine (though if you repost to Reddit or Instagram, tag me at u/Ariibees or @Ariibees)! I'd just prefer my works stay off of Pinterest.
Tumblr media
The terminology related to The Guide/Andrew/The Guardian/The World’s Core/The WoF is all confusing because on some level, they’re all the same being. Kind of like trying to talk about Jekyll and Hyde -- same guy, different looks/actions, haha.
For all intents and purposes, references to the WoF being the barrier/core/whatever behind or within which the spirits of light and dark are contained is equivalent to saying “these spirits are held trapped by the magic of the Guardian, who when summoned appears as the WoF.” I do break slightly from the official lore in how the WoF/Guardian/thing holding back these spirits works (mostly because I don’t really like the idea that the Hallow is a “temporary guardian” or whatever), but the basic concept of “these are trapped by [thing that makes up the WoF]” remains unchanged.
Tumblr media
If “loony cultist” is a reference to something, I’m so sorry, but I’m lost on it. If you’re just talking about the lunatic cultist in a funny way, then yes, they’re in here as a very plot-significant character!
Tumblr media
I had to google what meme you were talking about, but it did make me laugh.
Andrew’s most annoyed by the nickname because people do like to call him Guide, and for someone who’s dedicated his whole life to his role, it can get tiring. He doesn’t really *mind* being called Guide -- it’s fine, that’s what he is and as long as people are respectful of his job he’ll take what he can get -- but at the same time, he’d like for people to stop thinking “Aah! Monster!” or “Weird academic know-it-all” and just...treat him like a normal person sometimes. So he fights to be called Andrew. And...Malik comes along and gives him a nickname that he doesn’t like and doesn’t allow others to use, save for maybe a small group of people of which Malik is not a part. So, not cool, man!
Tumblr media
People love to overcomplicate explaining shading/lighting, and if you wanted to you could certainly go on and on about reflections of light off the ground and shading colors and all sorts of things, but as I’m writing this at 1 AM I don’t really care to.
If you really want to get into shading, I see nice ones on DeviantArt or Tumblr from time to time, or you can always watch a YouTube video on it. Really, though, just keep at it, think about how the shadows should look and work, and you'll get better at it eventually and pick up new ideas on how it all works. (And this is coming from someone who is new to making comics and actually started as a painter.)
Purity Town’s shading comes down to this: simplicity. As much as I’d love to spend hours and hours redrawing the panels I don’t like and carefully shading every fold of fabric and painting detailed backgrounds, I’m a full-time college student and will be working full-time over the summer -- I don’t have the time. So, I cut corners: I reuse backgrounds or use brushes (see: bricks, trees, clouds) that make certain details easier, and I try not to obsess too much over panels I’m not fully happy with. Shadows go where they feel right, and light on the opposite side.
For shading, this comes down to making things quick and easy. For these last few pages, character shading/lighting has only been five layers. One hard light layer for the bluer soft shadows, one overlay layer for darker soft shadows, one linear burn layer for hard shadows, one soft light layer for soft lighting, and one overlay layer for hard lighting. I’ll often also make use of glow dodge layers for lighting, or change the color balance or add more hard/soft light layers if there’s a very heavy color filter on the scene (such as a celestial event, blood moon, or outdoors at night).
Using all the different layer types is essentially a cheat code to fancier lighting -- don’t want to use flat black? Boom, hard light or overlay or burn will give you colored shadows. Want to make your light brighter? Glow dodge will make it burn your retinas.
Sorry that this isn’t a very comprehensive guide, but in my mind, shading and lighting is really something that you pick up over time and it’s hard to sit down and write a guide for it without making it into a massive essay on art theory that I don't even know proper terminology for because I'm not an art student. Of course with some googling you’ll find *proper* guides for this sort of thing from art majors and the likes, and those can be super helpful and technical! But for Purity Town, I just sort of go with what feels right and what's easy to replicate.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I’m happy to hear you’re liking the comic!
Secondly, those buttons are actually there due to the theme! (For those on mobile who can’t see it, I have the theme set to only display on desktop as I prefer the current mobile layout on phone.) I’m using the simple webcomic theme (a quick Google should tell you how to install it for yourself) -- except I’m not actually using it for the webcomic features; rather, it’s a case of “this is the most simple, nice-looking non-default theme I could find.”
The previous/next buttons are added by the theme with the intent that the blog is being used as a typical webcomic website, with nothing but comic pages being posted. However, I post asks and other art here too, and I do so with the intent that people looking at #Terraria or their dashboards in general will see it. So...I use html formatting to make the first/previous/next/last links, along with an index and chapter-by-chapter viewing (using /tagged/chapter##/chrono) so that no matter where you’re coming from, you can still navigate just the pages!
If you want to add just the previous/next buttons, I can’t really help you -- web development is not my area of study in the slightest. But you can check out the theme that they come from and if you want to install only them, you can surely find a tutorial on it somewhere!
(As a side note, the comments section is not from the theme, it’s from a site called Disqus. I don’t expect many people, if anyone, to leave comments, but since I link back to this site a lot and many folks don’t have Tumblr accounts, it’s an option I like to make available.)
Tumblr media
Hiya! My hike was pretty nice; it was a short and easy one, but that was quite appreciated as the trail is unmaintained from November to April, and the trail was covered in fallen trees and quite rocky. Still had fun, though!
And for backgrounds, it depends! For indoors scenes (or outdoors scenes with buildings) I don’t tend to use references, outside of looking up things like “which side of a door is the handle on.” I will, however, integrate real-life textures (see: the quilt and rug in Guide’s house, the wood walls on the building in the background of this week’s page), and paint over paintings from the Terraria wiki.
For outdoors scenes, for simple backgrounds (such as foliage-heavy) ones, I typically don’t need references. I like the difference between detailed, lined indoor/man-made object scenes vs. painted, messy outdoor scenes. But for things like mountains, I do sometimes look up references to help with color choices and the likes.
The town’s layout is a bit strange in that depending on the scene, the background could be drastically different. One side of town faces more mountainside, one side faces the orchards/open hillside, and the other two sides face various degrees of open space and more mountainside/forest. References taken on top of mountains are helpful to get an idea of what degree of foliage I should include between the characters and the sky.
Though this is very specific to the town of Purity -- other towns/villages will have significantly different-looking backgrounds, even the foliage-heavy ones.
That said, what's even more helpful than looking at photos is looking at paintings. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is really good for getting an idea of how to draw grasslands and distant mountains, plus Studio Ghibli movies in general!

I don't really know if prompts are open? But if you sre still making the 30 min challenge;
Would you like to writte all might finding out Izuku has a versions of afo (the quirk) and having him probably shaken, but still loving and trying his best to support izuku? Still struggling with thr truth tho
hey, nonnie? and really anyone on the blog. do me a favor, please.
this happens more often than you think. i get it. i post a new fic, usually a response to a request, and someone sends in a prompt/request when i am not accepting them. (this happened a lot in the last year!)
before you send in that ask, just check my blog. i try to put information in multiple places so people can access them easily. my description says “prompts closed.” if you click the read more to read the faq on my pinned post (that i made for easy access for mobile users), it says i am not currently taking requests or commissions. it’s also on my faq page. you can check all of these things.
also - i understand if you’re not a follower, or a longtime follower, that you might not get how my blog works yet. that’s fine. here is the bottom line: if i’m taking requests of any kind, it will be clear to you when i do. most of the time, i will reblog, or make a post about it, and indicate so in the places mentioned earlier. however, because i do have a bit of a following, i usually open prompts for a very limited time (less than a day) as a lot tend to come in.
as it is, prompts that i fill right now are a backlog of prompts. i don’t remember the exact number, but i’m sure i have at least 50. even if i fill a prompt now, keep in mind that request may be from months, or even over a year ago: requests are something my followers know i don’t have to do, and that i choose to fill in my own time, when i feel so inclined or inspired.
i know yall don’t mean to be rude or whatever. i am sorry to make this prompt into an example - but please, please, please. consider taking just a few minutes to see if i’m open to requests or prompts before sending one in.
as an internet courtesy, if you’re not sure, you could also just ask me first. while i feel i have made it clear, i understand that sometimes firsthand confirmation is helpful.
also - i’m not really that upset, so if you’re seeing this don’t feel bad. just consider checking the next time you ask a creator for something that they do for you, that they can and are willing to do so at the moment.

I saw in one of your tags you were asking about people not reblogging things. I do reblog stuff a lot of the time but the main reasons I might like and not reblog a piece of art are: It's good but there's something about the content I don't like — e.g. it's sad, it's a ship I don't really like, or there's something minor about it that I personally find unsettling or uncomfortable for a relatively ridiculous reason — or if I see quite a bit of content from this particular fandom but it's not one of my main fandoms and I only reblog the occasional thing relating to it. It's wanting to say "good job!" but also I don't want it saved on my blog. I can't guarantee whether other people's reasons are the same.
thank you for sharing your perspective!
i can tell for myself that when i like and don’t reblog something it’s usually for one of three reasons:
1) it is a random meme or joke or text post or whatever, not related to any fandoms i am in and not in line with the stuff i post on the blog, so i like it to look at it later. sometimes i end up reblogging that stuff, and tagging it with “random”, especially if i don’t have a lot to post otherwise that day
2) it is some sort of resource i want to look at later, or a post i want to send to a friend without reblogging it. again, when it comes to resources, sometimes i end up reblogging it anyway with the “save” tag
3) by far the most common - i am scrolling on mobile and i like something with the intention to reblog it later. the reason is that on mobile it is hard to reblog and there is always some sort of fucking bug, like when reblogging something takes you to the top of your dash. much easier to reblog on desktop, especially because it is much easier to tag there. i try to regularly go through my likes and reblog that stuff, especially art, fanfic, and edits/gifs, but sometimes i go too long without doing it and the likes get over-crowded and i forget something
so if i ever like some of your original stuff, like art / fanfic / etc and not reblog it, most likely reason is that my likes got overwhelming and executive functioning of my brain gave up so i did not get to it. sorry.
-
i have also seen people give reasons for not reblogging which are more complicated, like being afraid that the content will get them angry anons, or that it will be triggering for followers, or being very cautious of what they reblog from people they don’t know in fear that they will be giving attention to people with horrible bigoted views (e.g. the crypto-TERFs). this i understand and honestly don’t know what individual users could do to fix, and i have no faith in tumblr staff doing anything about harassment of users or the cryptic behaviours of bigots
what i think is a big contributor that people can do something about is passive consumption of content. like, i know we are all drowning in a sea of posts, and liking something is easier than having a curated blog with a tagging system, but also, thing is, without sharing, content doesn’t circulate. a like is a nice gesture, sure, but it doesn’t spread the content, it buries the content. the best it can do is move you up the tag page, but who even goes into tags anymore?
it is very hard for an individual to fight against the algorithms or get over the dopamine crash of having highly stimulating content being blasted into our faces by every platform, but every little step you take helps to keep this website alive and motivate content creators to put their stuff out there
i think one way we could combat this is making a bookmarks blog. literally just creating a side-blog that you use exclusively for reblogging things. it can have no tag system, no theme, no particular curated category. you can disable anon messages or disable asks altogether. and you use it just how you would use the like button, just to reblog everything you saw and liked
you’d think no one would follow a blog like that but the thing is, back when i just joined tumblr, most people who reblogged my original content and made it circulate were bookmark blogs. they usually weren’t called that explicitly but that’s what they were - just people reblogging everything they liked, never or almost never making their own posts, and many did not have any tagging system. it was just chaos on their blog, they would reblog everything and anything they wanted. and it made the content circulate and get orders of magnitude more exposure
so basically i vote for bringing back bookmark blogs and being okay with just running a disorganized mess of a blog,
like a storage of everything that crossed your dash and made you smile or sparked your interest in any way. it is as low effort as possible while still being a massive help to content creators. obviously you don’t have to do anything, but if you want tumblr to stay alive and for more content to be posted here, that is the lowest effort solution i can think of

Can you mayhaps share a bit of wisdom? I can really only make art when i'm sad and not like general sadness, i want to create at all times. It's not like i only have good ideas when i'm sad but i the best things I've done where in bad points of my life. how can i be more consistent? I want to create at all time but the creativity, the drive just doesn't come and it makes me sad but not in the creative way unfortunately in the self hatred and self loathing ways and i just *sigh* and *sighs harder*
i'm sorry if this is a loaded question i don't want to put you on the spot... also if you have any advice on how to deal with anxiety about sharing your work? i need any help i can get with anxiety my ass is sore from getting my ass kicked by it so often and its really hard to get help and improve alone and without any critiques.......... sorry that was a lot wasn't it........ sorry..........
Good morning, anon! No need to apologize! I’m happy to help in any way I can. :3
I’m throwing up a cut for courtesy of mobile users, because I’m always a terrible windbag about these things. ^_^;;
Okay! So, you’re working through issues with creating and mood - let me first get my usual “you’re not alone in this” lecture out of the way, because my rule of teaching is: if one person asks the question, at least five others in the classroom have the same one.
When you say the best things you’ve created were at bad points in your life, it sounds like you’ve used your art to vent out your heavier feelings. There’s nothing wrong with that; in fact, I think it’s very healthy. I do want to ask, however, what makes these pieces your best? Are they truly, objectively the best showcase of your skills? Do you favor them because of their emotional connection? It could be both. The point is, are you putting too much pressure on being emotionally invested in your work?
The unfortunate thing about art, whether it be drawing, painting, writing, dance, etc, is that we’re inundated with the assumption we’re all terribly emotional things, and that emotion (heavy emotion in particular) fuels our work. For some, it may be true to an extent. The problem is that then we need that heavy emotion to feel inspired, and consistency suffers as a result. I know I have some days where the absolute last thing I want to do is write. Others, I’m exploding with the need for emotional release, and I can happily pour that into a charged scene.
The second unfortunate thing about art is that, like math and science and the other subjects we’re told don’t mesh with the arts - discipline is a huge component of it. We can’t rely on the contrary whims of the muses or else we won’t improve through practice. And part of practice is working when inspiration isn’t quite there, so that we can learn to artificially coax it out. So we must sit and work even when we don’t want to. It’s hard. Some days I sigh like a sickly Edwardian lady on a fainting couch about the whole thing.
The trick - for me, anyway, but I have seen evidence of this working for others - is to find little rituals to coax out that inspiration, even if it’s just a touch of it. I have a set of candles on my desk that I light just before writing. I have an oil warmer too, and I experiment with scent blends for focus or whatever I feel I need. Music! Music can do so much to alter your brain’s trajectory. I have about a hundred playlists for whatever mood I need for the scene at hand. I’ll even be extra New Age and suggest meditation (some love it, some loathe it - I’ll leave it to you to decide). Find what feels like inspiration to you.
Pamper your workspace. Make it a place you want to go, a place that, after a while, feels creative the moment you sit down. Dedicated spaces are not always easy to eke out, but even just a corner or a desk or the bed can be transformed by the addition of small creative rituals. Make your space and your creative time something sacred.
Remember, when you sit down: it’s okay to be bad. If you’re not feeling it, remind yourself you’re not there to create the next world masterpiece. You’re there to tap into whatever creativity comes and to see what happens. Let yourself be curious about your own work regardless of whether it’s “good” or not. And if it’s not good and you hate it? Ask why. What makes it bad? What can you improve upon? What is it teaching you? No art is wasted. I used to draw, hundreds of years ago in my youth. I had sketches and drawings that no other eyes ever saw. I’ve had scenes in my stories that I loved and cut, that I hated and cut. What did they teach me? They taught composition, pacing, anatomy, mood, setting - often by doing it wrong. Dissect your failed experiments. Note what you learned through them, and try again from another point of view.
I won’t preach the “write/draw every day” advice because the reality of it is that for quite a lot of us, it’s not feasible. We live in interesting times, alas, and so we have to balance our disciplines with our health (physical, emotional, spiritual - all of it!). It took me ages to find the difference between “I’m not feeling it today but should push through it” and “I do not have the spoons to create today and should rest.” See if you can find that balance for yourself and exploit the hell out of it. With time, you may find that you don’t need to be sad to create emotionally powerful art. You can tap into it when needed, turn it off when you’re finished using it, and keep yourself from drowning in it.
Lastly, to address the anxiety of showing off our work: you can start small. You don’t need to show anyone anything that makes you uncomfortable. Not every sketch or story or poem needs to be published online to make it a worthy endeavor. But, specifically when you want critiques, find a trusted friend or fellow artist. Be upfront and let them know you want to improve, but could they be gentle in their advice? Can they also let you know what they enjoy about your work? Our brains like to remember insults over praise, so softening constructive criticism can be a talent of its own. A critique in good faith isn’t meant to insult, and while we may flinch at being told where we are deficient, it’s an exercise in self-improvement we all need now and again. (But only, my dear, when you ask for it. If someone rudely sends unsolicited critiques, you have my old man, cane-waving blessing to simply block them and prevent them the honor of enjoying your work at all.)
Lastly (for real this time), there is no such thing as perfect. Not in the ideal sense. Often for me, perfect means done. Perfect means the best I can do at this moment. Perfect means I learned something. There is no wasted art. Good luck, anon. <3

Hey uh I owe my University itself, not just loans, quite a bit of money that I literally don't have the means to pay back. I've gotten letters from them saying that I need to pay it back but like. I literally don't have money to. I'm planning on having a friend help me call them soon to help me figure out what I can do but do you have any idea what they'll say? The tldr of why I can't pay is that i came out to my parents who were largely paying for my college and then they refused to pay but by
(2/2) But by then I was too far in to take loans out, got that bit figured out, and so I was able to enroll in another semester but I didn't get as many loans as I thought I would be able to and was denied for others etc, bc I have, etc etc etc. And I'm just. Freaking out a little bit and don't really know what to do and any advice or soothing words would be helpful bc I don't know what I'm doing and have major phone anxiety
Okay, sweetie, I have been there with my husband. They did the same shit to him, let him keep attending school without any loan money and he was none the wiser until he got a huge bill (it was like, 4-5k) and he freaked out too (understandably).
(this understandably is very long and I am sorry to mobile users, under a cut for everyone else )
The first thing is this: You literally do not have to pay it all back at once. It’s not going to happen. Literally no one has that amount of money on hand. They know this. Three out of four Americans can’t even get together $400 in an emergency.
Secondly is this: I am so sorry about your parents. I cannot imagine ever doing that to someone, and I hope that you’re able to get away from them soon.
But your real problem is this bill. Grab your friend’s hand, and either call the finance department (yikes, I feel you on the phone anxiety, but this is SUPER important, so it’s worth it, I promise) OR go directly to the finance office itself. Sure you have to go talk to a real person face to face, but that might work better for you, because it’s not on the phone, and you can take your time asking questions and not feel like you’re being rushed.
(personally I’d recommend going in, even though I have trouble talking to people in public, I much prefer that over the phone ha)
Now, you’re looking at this big scary number and you’re thinking, there’s literally no way I can pay this. I understand these feels. They’re scary. You’re going to ask the finance department exactly which classes and semesters this covered. You’re going to have them break the cost down by class (if it’s not already on your bill, your bill SHOULD be itemized, but who knows if it actually is)
You need to ask questions, and don’t leave that office until you understand exactly what is going on. Ask them to repeat, re-explain, etc until you got it, and you do not leave that office without some sort of written paper work that details your repayment, if they won’t give it to you, do not pay, do not pass go, ask for the finance director themself to send it over and say these magic words if they don’t: Okay, I will have to talk to my lawyer then before I commit to anything. sign NOTHING that day.
Do you have a lawyer? No. Probably not. Doesn’t matter. You’re bluffing because none of them ever want to get sued and denying you written documentation and itemized billing is wrong (illegal, probably) and they don’t want to lose all the money in court fees and lawyer fees so they will pony up your documentation.
(should you seriously consider getting a lawyer for this? depends on how shitty they are to you, lawyers are expensive, but having someone on your side to deal with all of their shit so you don’t have to can be worth it, but honestly, even stating you will discuss with your lawyer will usually make them cooperate -- they can guess you’re bluffing, but what if you’re not? they won’t risk it)
Okay here are the important questions:
What are these charges for? What classes/semesters?
Can you break it down by class for me?
Am I still able to continue going to class while I am in repayment?
What sort of repayment options are available to me?
Is there a repayment plan?
How many payments will this be?
How will I pay you, and will I receive a new invoice on my updated balance due?  Will I get a receipt? (these are super important*)
Is this accruing any sort of interest or fees? (it shouldn’t be getting interest, since it’s not a loan, but again, cover your ass and make sure you know EVERYTHING up front. And get it in writing.)
some tips: if they do a repayment plan (which they will!) do not schedule it in between your pay periods for your job (if you’re also working) and do not set them up weekly. You will end up a ball of anxiety over weekly payments. Make it absolutely the BARE minimum payment you can, that will still let you go to school. Make sure you get the name and phone number and email of the person you’re talking to, so that you can keep track of who told you what information, and that if they go AWOL you can at least go to the director and be like yeah here’s what I was told, it was written out, it was even signed by you blah blah blah cover your ass
*the updated invoices and receipts are super important for both peace of mind and accountability (on their part). My husband was paying monthly and they never gave him an updated invoice or receipt and I told him to stop paying them until he got them. Turns out they just... stole his money. It was like, $150 a month for like 6 months. But this is because we went to ITT and it was literally hell. It likely won’t happen to you but cover your ass anyway, and get updated invoices and receipts for each payment, even if you’re only paying $10/month.
if anyone else has any tips for dealing with university finances and unexpected bills, please sound off, because it’s been almost a decade since I graduated from ITT and my experience there is not universal but it was super shifty and shady and I am jaded about it, so here’s what I wish I would have done back then. If there is any resources for managing that sort of thing, please leave them in the comments or reblogs so we can all learn to protect ourselves from Capitalist Univeristy Inc

Aaa! I am sorry about that (this is anarchy anon!) I don't remembr exactly what I wrote in the first ask but my main problem with anarchy, though the idea seems to be the best ideal way for society to function is that it leaves a power vacuum, and that I am not sure how it would be be solved. There are always assholes in the world and thst can't be ignored and it won't be solved in an easy way. Everytime anarachy has occurdd it has usually made a way for another equal or worse government to (1)
/under read more since this is gonna be lengthy O: sorry mobile users!
(2/2) brought up. And ... also I am not sure people have the kindness to do things without some kind of programs. While many lives will be the same without an institution governmental programs will not be funded to help cities to help schools to help those who need the help in general. The system is craptastic now but... in an anarachy system I just can see it getting worse. It has bright sides but I can't see it working.////////////
oh defs fair points! all systems have flaws and need trial and error to fix unless its so broken from the ground up it needs to be replaced -and i do believe capitalism is that broken. we didn’t start out with empires or huge states of government, humanity lived under anarchism before these governments and we can live so again. the issue is that we haven’t had a large scale and successful anarchist country that hasn’t been squashed by the state. (tho, the history of anarchy is more of a blind spot of mine, i would recommend talking with other anarchists on this topic lmao)
again, so like. capitalism is new. Civilization did not always rule like it does now, capitalism and our current systems are built off Feudalism. we can all agree feudalism is bonkers and awful, yeah? why are we so faithful to a system built off it by people who owned slaves and were wealthy and powerful? why do we trust its for the benefit of the common people when the 1% of the 1% horde most of the wealth in the world and most people in the US if you accurately measured them would be in poverty or near poverty? half of the nation would be considered poor. (and near poverty is still very bad. you’re one bad medical bill or career issue away from poverty, that’s a problem)
(quote taken from the wikipedia, heres the source it mentions)
Tumblr media
our planet is dying, we’re dying. the poor are poorer and we can not live like this anymore. we need change, and we have to quick or we will literally all die. we have to have a extreme solution or we will have an extreme end.
i’m not advocating for looting streets or murder by guillotine obvs, our society is too raised on capitalism and regression to think of revolution right now. (hell, most people have an incorrect definition of what anarcy is, how do i expect people to adopt it?) i know i will not live long enough to see a just anarchist world, even if i think we should strive to try, as mentioned, we don’t have a choice under capitalism as the planet is dying. i mean. most people think anarchy means “to live without reason or order” when it really means to dispose of police states and flawed governmental systems.
so yeah, i know theres challenges with getting anarchy to work, and while ideally think we need to act fast and make the changes happen now, i know this takes time and being progressive through socialism -from smaller to greater reform like free education, stopping corporations from monopolies and polluting, giving workers rights and better pay, giving more political power to the people ect. can be achieved through the current system but i honestly think thats just as fantastical as creating a completely new system that doesn’t rely on a military state.
the system was created by rich people for rich people. working within it is a uphill battle that could just as easily fall right back or get worse with each new election. the elections themselves are designed by the ground up to keep power to those in power, we need imminent change.
no police, no armies, no private prisons, no inequality. i can’t expect this to be done or solved easily or quickly, but it is still something i can strive for and wish for.
also like... having police and our armies aren’t effective. its just control over the people and colonialism. the war on drugs was not effective, it worsened conditions of those who are addicts and has let generations of people unjustly criminalized and imprisoned. (and, shocker, its racist. its mainly targeted towards marginalized people, specifically black the most.) addiction is a mental health issue, it shouldn’t be treated as a serious offense for decades in prison.
in addition, police are largely left unchecked with power and the whole police system is rigged to keep abusive and exploitative people with jobs and guns.
so yeah power vacuums would be difficult, and we do need universal laws to protect people, but if we’re all working together to govern ourselves and create a society that helps the poor, those in any need, the world will be better. under capitalism, this can never be fully achieved.

For the OC asks- I don't know your OC names, but you should answer the multiples of 5 for any you want so I can get to know them!
My two LDB OCs (that I’ve fleshed out, that is) Are Vyrthaal, a 13 yr old snow elf battlemage that was kept in stasis with a time freezing spell, and Jo’safiir, a Khajiit mage and scholar ! Thanks for sending an ask ;w; (PS I love your URL lmao-)
This got really long so I’m putting it under a cut (RIP some mobile users)
5) What does your OC normally wear? What would your OC wear on a special night?
V: Orcish armor he forged himself, decorated with small painted flowers in soft colors like lavender and periwinkle. For special occasions he’ll either wear the robes he was found in (very elegant robes that young nobility would wear), or recreations of his old clothes made to fit the more rough and intimidating aesthetic the Orcs have.J: He has multiple sets of traveling robes and one (1) set of light armor his friend Ko’jiira (one of my beef’s OCs) forced him to take. All enchanted to boost his magicka in some way or another. For special occasions he’ll either wear the Arch Mage robes (usually reserved for College Business) or some of the clothes he brought with him from home, all in various degrees of Fanciness(tm) depending on what he needs. (Fun fact, my bef made a circlet that increases health, I think?? And called it “Circlet for People Who Don’t Wear Armor” and we’ve decided that’s the first think Ko’jiira gives to him lol. He always wears it.)
10)  What does your OC keep in a special drawer?
V: Various things he managed to save from his original home, including a small dagger that was more for aesthetics than anything else, some jewelry, and his old robes, as well as some gifts that his adoptive mother Marzog (another of my beef’s OCs) or the rest of his new Orc family has gotten him: the first dagger Momzog helped him forge and enchant, flowers they’ve given him that he’s pressed so they’d be preserved, and various other smaller weapons.J: TBH he’d probably try to keep as many Black Books sealed away as possible so there’s That. But he’d also keep some gifts from his family hidden away for safekeeping! An amulet his mother gifted him, various things his younger siblings made, probably something sentimental like his first ever toy, etc. And this isn’t exactly a Special Drawer, but he does have a very specific protective case he stores the Dawnbreaker in when he’s not travelling. He’s very protective of it.
15) What was your OC’s childhood like?
V: Vyrthaal lived a very sheltered life. His parents were overprotective nobles that oversaw most aspects of his life. He was well to do ofc and his parents made sure he was highly educated. They cared about him, but were rather distant from him which made him crave company, attention, and affection. When Marzog found him and took him in, she and her stronghold raised him like he was another orc (though they were probably a Little delicate with him as he got used to just Existing at first). It’s rowdy and rough but ultimately fun for Vyrthaal, and he loves it.J: His parents are merchants in Elsewyr and love all their kittens so much! They did there best to get all of them good educations. Jo’safiir is the oldest, and when he began showing an interest in magic they got their paws on as many spell tomes as they could, and encouraged him to keep studying. He was always happy and well loved as a kid,but he did spend a lot of time helping his parents work.
20)  What kind of mother/father would your OC be?
V: He’d be loving and supportive just like Marzog was with him, and also raise them to follow the Code of Malacath. But he’d also make sure they knew that they wouldn’t have to be Just Like Him, and encourage them to pursue their interests etc.J: Very caring and loving, but a little clueless. Like, “I’m gonna give my kid a dagger that explodes people for their tenth birthday!” clueless (thankfully in my canon for him, Miraak would be the Sensible One). But like his own parents he’d be supportive and helpful, and any time they developed a new interest he’d do everything he could to get them as much information on it as he could. He’d definitely low-key hope his kid(s) turn out to have the same love for magic as he does tho lmao.
25)  If your OC has a soulmate, who is it?
V: TBH I’m....not Entirely Sure! In my canon for him the Dragonborn Shit(tm) happens when he’s 13, so romance has been far from my mind on developing him lmao...J: M,,,Miraak lol
30)  Did your OC participate in extracurricular activities, and if so, what were they?
V: He’d like any sort of activity where he Makes Things, and his parents encouraged things like weaving and painting the most, so in his early childhood that’s what he focused on.J: As much of a nerd that he is in his adult life, he would have been an active little kid. He’d probably be into sports, if there are really popular ones in Elsewyr??
35)  How is your OC working towards his/her dream job and/or achieved his/her current profession?
V: Vyrthaal is kind of busy learning how to grow up and adjust to what Skyrim is like and be a Dragonborn right now so he sort of feels that’s the only thing he’ll ever do, but he likes the thought of being a blacksmith that would also very rarely do mercenary work (though only for people who need help like, getting rid of bandits that are hurting their home, stuff like that). All the fighting he’s doing, as well as the blacksmith training Marzog gives him, is all working towards that.J: In his canon, the College of Winterhold questline shenanigans happen first, so he sort of....ends up becoming the Arch Mage in his early-ass 20s. But that would be after at least two or three years of him diligently studying (and sort of competing with J’zargo hehe).
40)  How does your OC handle grief?
V: Very, very badly. When he realized his family, and possibly his entire race, was completely gone he lost himself for a while, letting out frenzied magic attacks and probably badly hurting Marzog by accident, tbh. Over time he slowly learns how to handle it better, though it will take him longer than most to fully “get over” something and is prone to long depressive episodes where he becomes numb and listless.J: By bottling it up and forcing himself to work on something, anything, until he collapses from exhaustion, and pretending that everything’s fine no mater how bad it is.
45)  What are some things that annoy your OC?
V: Vyrthaal has a high tolerance for Bullshit(tm) but he Is impatient at times, so any time he’s doing something that’s a huge waiting game (like hunting, for example) he gets irritated easily.J: People being Unnecessarily Loud. If he’s in a huge market or in the middle of a town or smthn he doesn’t mind it that much, but he isn’t the biggest fan of rowdy bars or people who yell while they’re talking, etc.
50) What secrets does your OC have?
V: He’s terrified that each time he absorbs a dragon’s soul he’ll become more dragon and less elf, and soon kill everyone he loves.J: He’s actually homesick a lot, and sometimes wishes that he could move back home;;
55) What are your OC’s thoughts on death?
V: That it’s inevitable, so you should work as hard as you can in your life to give yourself a good, honorable death in the future.J: It’s just the next phase of your soul’s existence.
60) If your OC could change one thing about him/herself, what would it be?
V: TBH, he mostly just wants to be taller and generally Bigger. Lots of people see this small, not super bulky elf, and don’t think much of him; he’d like to look big and powerful like his mom! *Jenna Marbles voice* I wanna be taaaaall......J: In the year or two he’s worked as the Arch Mage he’s lost a lot of his playfulness, sarcasm, and smartassery and become sort of....uptight. He genuinely misses when he could just fuck around and Enter The Sillyzone(tm). So he’s really grateful when he meets the more chaotic Ko’jiira, who brings out his inner gremlin lmao-
65) What is your OC’s favorite drink?
V: I’m not entirely sure what he’d like, but I feel like he’d drink a lot of watered down ale and mead while staying in Marzog’s stronghold?? Though they’d probably get him like, tea and stuff so he’s not Just living off watery booze lol. In a modern AU he’d drink, like, only energy drinks and soda tho asdlkdfJ: Tea!!!! Really strong tea (I feel like he’d love the TES equivalent of chai, but that’s just bc chai is My personal favorite) with just a little bit of honey. And by a little bit, I mean at least four huge spoonfuls of it.
70) What is your OC’s favorite book?
...okay TBH I don’t spend a lot of time reading books while playing Skywim, so I Really Don’t Know what either of them would like specifically. But, Vyrthaal would enjoy adventure stories and Jo’safiir likes old legends and fables and the like.
75) What is your OC’s favorite scent?
V: The smell of a nice hot fire with fresh meat roasting over it.J: Freshly baked bread, pies, sweetrolls, etc.
80) What is your OC’s favorite dinosaur?
I...genuinely don’t know enough at dinosaurs to have an answer to this, I’m sorry;;
Sorry this got so long, I tend to ramble about my OCs a lot :’3 Thanks for sending in this ask!!

Hey there! Just wanted to reach out as someone else who was also new to Tumblr a few months ago with just a few tips!
1) If you haven't, look for xKit for cutting posts! I recommend the xKit Rewritten version, as it's designed for the new blog format, and the old xKit can be really glitchy, especially if you make use of threads. StitchRPH (meme/resource blog linked below) reblogged a really good guide a few days ago for the rewritten xKit you could check out!
2) RPThreadTracker is your friend (you can google it, it's easy to find). It is a godsend. It makes it SO easy to track your replies and what you owe, you just have to be vigilant about adding each thread as you make it. It's actually specifically designed for Tumblr.
3) Most people, in my experience, interact via memes or prompts. Check for whatever their prompt tag is, and send in a quote and a thread can start from there. Also make sure you reblog them! Asks can turn into nicely short threads which can get interactions going, and make for a nice icebreaker. Generally, if someone sends you an ask, they're usually willing to roll with whatever idea you come up with for it, so be ready to do the same!
4) Have mobile-accessible content. Have a link to your rules and any relevant about info for your muse in a pinned post. Pages don't work on the Tumblr mobile app, and there are quite a few mobile users. This'll just make it easier to find your stuff. If you really want to go the extra mile, check out Carrd and consider just making an entire Carrd for your stuff.
5) Have a good tagging system! Since you're a single-muse blog it's probably not as important, but if you were a multimuse, people tend to like to block tags that aren't relevant to them, i.e. stuff from another verse or that kind of thing, using Tumblr Saviour. It helps keep their dash clean.
6) Check out some resource blogs! @stitchrph is a personal fave, honestly. Stitch is really good at explaining things to people new to Tumblr when asks are sent, and has always been incredibly polite any time I've sent asks (anon or otherwise)! @poohsources also does a lot of similar guides/helpful asks, and also has some really great meme prompts as well (and literally the most adorable layout, like hello???)! I also recommend @soulprompts and @soulmemes for some really good prompt lists, and @leneemusing for a variety of prompts/inspo/psa's if you need them. There are others that are just as awesome, but those five blogs are ones I know are really active and very helpful! @neurodiverserph also has a really good PSA on RPC accessibility/help as well that I highly recommend you check out!
I hope some of these help!
//I don't know who you are, Mr. Anony Mous (inside joke, sorry not sorry), but thank you, so, so much! I'll be looking into all these resources and using them to improve. First being the mobile thing since I legit didn't know that, being a filthy PC user. I just downloaded xKit Rewritten too.
(sorry for answering like this but I just really wanted you to know how much I appreciate you!)

For a person who used to self harm a lot, could you do headcanons about how Itachi and/or Obito would react if they found out that their partner self harmed? If you don't write these sort of things, that's perfectly fine with me, because I couldn't read your rules.
im glad you use the term ‘used’ since that implies you don’t do it anymore, im proud of you! if you (or anyone, really) needs someone to talk or vent to im always here -mod cassie
under the cut! (sorry mobile users) - TW: self harm
Itachi
The variation of self harm matters a lot here, since in reality there’s more ways for a person to self harm than just the general cutting or burning at the skin.
Itachi would notice pretty much right away if he saw the scars or wounds directly, and at first would like to assume that you got it from some sort of incident involving a mission or just everyday life. He’d think that the placement was just coincidence but he’d still bring it up to take in what kind of reaction you’d have.
If you answered on a cool and calm manner while giving a pretty valid excuse he might overlook it but would still have his speculations However, if you were to stammer, panic and say something that doesn’t make that much sense he’d let it go for the time being (not wanting to put you on the spot) but he’d definitely make a mental note to keep tabs on it before approaching you with the issue. The last thing he wants to do is assume something like that.
Likewise, if your form of self harm is by putting yourself into dangerous situations in which you would get hurt directly and purposely, not really caring much for your own well being and getting injured as a result, he might come to you about it because he does not want you to hurt yourself. You mean too much to him to let him just stand by and willingly let you get yourself injured rather it be with blades or just being reckless.
Whether you open to him or not is totally up to you. While he is curious, he won’t pry and he won’t force you to talk about something you’re not comfortable with or ready to talk about. He will tell you to stop, though, because he cares for you. If you DO want to talk about the issue, he’s all ears and immediately wants to start working for a solution, and if it’s something that can’t be fixed out right he’ll try to help you develop coping mechanisms that don’t include harming yourself.
Afterwards he’ll start paying much more attention to you, taking in small details he’d otherwise overlook. With the cat out of the bag, it wouldn’t be a shock if you were to try to continue but be more subtle so he wouldn’t know, but Itachi would notice and he’d once again try to urge you to stop doing this to yourself and that he was going to be right there to help you through it.
Obito
With Obito, it would take just a bit more time for him to take note of and notice that you were self harming, especially if it wasn’t directly there directly for him to see. With cutting at your skin or burning yourself, he would see the marks and like Itachi wouldn’t pay too much mind right away since people get hurt all the time. Scars and wounds aren’t uncommon, and subconsciously self harm is the last thing he would want to suspect.
However, as time goes on, if he sees the marks more and more often or you’re getting hurt way more than usual, he’d start to become curious as to what was going on. The minute he suspects that you’re self harming he’ll get this pit in his gut that will make him mentally pray that his instinct was wrong.
Because this pit only grows with time and his curiosity gets the better of him, he’ll likely outright ask you when you’re alone if you’ve been hurting yourself, and he’ll tell you he’s seen the scars or wounds. He wouldn’t wait for you to bring it up first because it’s something that has to do with your health, and your well being trumps being uncomfortable during a conversation.
If you confess Obito would be pretty hurt by in some way. Not in a ‘what am I doing wrong’ type of way, but more like he hates to see you doing that to yourself. He’s anything but selfish when you’re explaining everything to him, as he just wants you to be okay and safe above all. He doesn’t take your self harm personally what so ever.
He’ll want to help in any single way that he can, even if it’s trivial and all he can really do is try to keep you busy or show you lots of love. He doesn’t understand self harm and doesn’t get why you’d want to hurt yourself or put yourself in danger, but he really does try his best to understand so that he can help you. He tries to get you to talk to him and to vent, tell him whatever is on your mind so it’s not festering there. He won’t force things out of you but he’s a firm believer of ‘if we don’t talk about this now, we never will’ so he does try to coax things out of you. He hopes that the more you open up about the more he can do by helping you on the road to recovery.
