wednesday, august 9 day 3: hurt/comfort (@benthan-week-forever)

Late at night, Benji sat at his laptop, frustration evident on his face. He had been working tirelessly on a complex task, and it seemed like everything was going wrong.

Ethan noticed the distress in his partner's eyes and approached him with concern. The brunette gently placed a hand on Benji's shoulder, offering comfort and support. He knew that sometimes all it took was a few sweet words and gestures to ease the frustration and bring solace to a troubled heart.

"Hey, Benji," Ethan said softly, his voice filled with warmth and understanding. "I know it's been a tough night, but remember, you're brilliant at what you do. You've overcome challenges before, and I have no doubt that you'll conquer this one too."

Benji looked up at him, his eyes searching for reassurance. Ethan smiled, his touch lingering on Benji's shoulder, providing a sense of stability and love.

"You're not alone in this, Benji," he continued. "We're a team, and I'm here to support you every step of the way. Take a deep breath, clear your mind, and remember how capable you are. You've got this."

As the older spoke, his words resonated with Benji, easing the tension that had built up within him. He felt a renewed sense of confidence and determination, knowing that he had someone like Ethan by his side.

Ethan leaned in closer, his hand now gently cupping Benji's cheek.

Benji felt a wave of gratitude wash over him as he looked into his lover's eyes. In that moment, he knew that he was not alone. With Ethan's love and support, he felt invincible, ready to face any challenge that came his way.

Together, they closed the laptop, leaving the frustrations of the night behind. They embraced, finding solace in each other's arms. In that moment, Ethan's sweet words and comforting gestures reminded him of the strength of their love and the power it held to overcome any obstacle.

Hi! Saw your post about Jance stuff

How do you think they'd change their daily lives after moving in together?

Would they carpool to practice? Would Jan actually start being on time or would Nace start being late? Do the others get fed up with how cute the two are being or did they not reveal they're together?

Also how do you think they'd do PDA?

(i ended up falling asleep last night sorry guys i got too cozy 😭 but i'm here to answer now)

i don't think their lives changed all that much because for the past year they've been spending most of their time together - except now they actually get to do all the sweet domestic stuff every single day they're back in slovenia 🥺 cooking together, doing grocery shopping, taking care of their pets, going on hikes together... it's boring and mundane and they're both so happy

they'd absolutely carpool to practice - as we've seen, it's pretty clear nace enjoys driving jan around and jan enjoys being the passenger princess ✨ he's there to take photos of nace (to promote the car obviously not because he looks good or anything) and pick the music. on a longer drive, he also provides the snacks and water when needed

i think generally nace helps jan be on time more often. not always tho - sometimes they are both late because jan keeps forgetting things no matter how many times nace reminds him to take them or because jan decides to ignore his alarm so when nace comes back from his morning run he's still in bed, very cozy, sleeping soundly. there's also times when they're late for much better reasons and not only are they late, jan's neck also has some very visible marks 🤭

the others pretend to be annoyed at how sweet they are most of the time, but they both are pretty discreet (most of the time) about showing their affection in public, so it's all just friendly teasing. i think they're both very happy for them - their friends found happiness together and what else could you hope for?

i think they would absolutely have to tell them considering how close they all are and how much time they all spend with them. same for the crew that's with them most of the time. it's not like much changes after they tell them, but they both feel a bit more comfortable

as i've said, i don't think they're big on pda. sure, there are a lot of casual looks and touches, but not much more than they'd do in front of fans/around people who don't know they're together. it doesn't make it any less meaningful - and they're the absolute worst when they're alone. i think jan in particular is probably very needy when he gets a moment alone with nace (it's something very new/weird for jan because he does still need his alone time, but nace is probably the person he can spend the most time with and enjoy it?? and nace totally gets him and respects him/his needs)

I can't emphasize this enough, but I LOVE your story! The way you conveyed emotions in your writing is just top notch, oh and the angst? Chef's kiss! And the characters? I'd write essays about them fr fr😩 Irus is such a breath of fresh air, he's so goofy and cute loll, Elora sweet girl my BFF for life and I love Sir Oren's name (in my place, Oren/Oyen is a pet name we give for ginger cats and I think it's adorable!!!)

I also love the family dynamic, both in Vinia and the less than ideal perhaps slightly dysfunctional main family with Sal and Papa (I'm a proud Ahlf's apologist, sorry not sorry) like, despite him being shady for keeping the letters that Sal writes to MC secret, I find it more easier to forgive because he doesn't replace the MC and or maybe Sal, and seemingly not moving on as easily as Sal did with her new fam and perhaps my MC (lol or myself) is a selfish Lil prick because it's such a tragedy to actually feel and experience what the saying "misery loves company" actually entails.

I do have a question tho, will the MC have closure about dear papa? I really do miss our emotially constipated father😭 my MC definitely would go gut some fish cus it might probably smell like him and inhale that putrid odor just to remember him by, I kid u not.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy you're enjoying the game and the characters 💖 So much of my time writing is spent alone, so I never know of the emotions I'm trying to convey are coming across the way I see them so I'm happy that it is for you!

I love writing complicated family dynamics. It's something I don't really get to play in IF or something that's explored a lot, so it was fun getting to include all the drama especially with Ahlf and Salyra 😅 And there's nothing wrong with being supportive of Ahlf (and his flaws). In some ways, I think he's a bit more forgivable than Salyra because he chose a hermit life rather than start a new family like Salyra did.

Yes! Part 3 takes place in different regions, but predominantly it will be Cyre focussed because of the war and also to rally supporters in Irus' kingdom. You'll be seeing Salt Bay again and you'll learn what became of the residents, including Ahlf.
