An Angry Review of Rose's Costumes in TROS
Well, let's get into what the costume designer did for us that the writers didn't.
Tumblr media
Look at this great costume! Sure wish she would have had more to do in the film. Though I would not have preferred more time with Leia (apparently filmed but unsurprisingly didn't work great), I would have been delighted if she had actually gotten to talk to Rey at any point. Anyway, I do like this costume better than the previous jumpsuit. It's more flattering and presumably indicates that she has moved up in rank from before. It's very Indiana Jones and I love it. I like that her hair is up but I wish she had gotten one of the more elaborate hairstyles ladies in Star Wars always get.
Female representation: 10/10 Absolutely perfect, also reminiscent of Leia's outfit in ROTJ. Like there, it is basically a man's outfit but looks vastly better here (because Rose is hot and because it shows how she is in charge). If only the writing had matched.
Practicality: 10/10 Again, it's great! It is perfect for any adventure she might get up to in the film if she hadn't been left at home.

‘Rise of Skywalker’ ensures a divisive discussion among Star Wars faithfuls
Tumblr media
***WARNING: SPOILERS!***
I’ve had a few hours now to digest the near two and a half hours of film I have most been anticipating for the greater part of the past decade.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker is the “final” chapter in this monumental franchise, whose cultural reach has spanned generations. I put “final” in quotation marks because… let’s face it… who knows for sure? Hollywood loves money-makers and few franchises are as guaranteed billion-dollar successes as the Star Wars films – whether or not they deserve it. In the paragraphs that follow I will try to do justice to the thousands of thoughts running through my head as they relate to this most recent installment of the series, though there’s just so much to say…
First of all, let me pronounce a very unpopular opinion. I liked The Last Jedi. I liked it a lot, actually. While large numbers of fans derided its storyline, progressivism, and unexpected character transformations, I thought the film captured the sense of adventure and whimsy that made the originals so charming and engaging. To its credit, more so than any other film in the franchise (perhaps even more than Empire, my favorite), The Last Jedi demonstrates a fascinating creativity in its expansion of our understanding of the Star Wars universe. That the renowned Jedi Master Luke Skywalker sacrifices himself for the cause while performing the most profound use of the Force ever seen in the series is a masterstroke. Yes, the film shatters ideals we had about our heroes, but that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do. Kylo Ren’s monologue says just that: “Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to.” Perhaps no line is more descriptive of the film’s broader concept. While The Force Awakens served as an almost unmitigated homage to A New Hope, The Last Jedi channels Empire without replicating it. It forges its own way. This is not the old galaxy. Things are different now. Our heroes are drastically flawed. Our villains are remarkably complex. Forget the past. Look to the future. The final shot of the young Jedi-to-be looking up towards a promising galaxy brings me to tears almost every time I see it. How could you not be filled with hope?
Nonetheless, the backlash to the reformed ideals of The Last Jedi was so robust, it is impossible not to identify its effects on The Rise of Skywalker. Almost every new pathway forged by Johnson in Episode VIII is abandoned in Episode IX, seemingly with the sole purpose to appease loyal fans as the series closes out. In VIII, Kylo Ren ditches his mask to assert himself as his own Sith lord, independent from the legacy of his more famous grandfather. Early on in IX, the mask makes its return and his lineage to Darth Vader returns as a focal point. Fans were seemingly upset with VIII’s reluctancy to delve into Rey’s family background. While I personally enjoyed the fact that a Jedi hero could be born independently of any significant family lineage, this concept angered others. As such, IX finally explains that Rey does have an important relative – a plot point which, to me at least, proves to be the most far-fetched and belabored element of the new script. And then there’s Snoke. Everyone was so upset that we never really find out where Snoke came from in the first place. Well, pretty early on, Johnson puts that question to bed and gifts us with a more well-known chief villain – again, perhaps the most outlandish plot point.
In fact, the entire 142 minutes seems to be an endless parade of devices and appearances aimed at appeasing the world’s most loyal fanbase. (You know everyone who hated The Last Jedi still came to see The Rise of Skywalker on opening night.) Each of the original trio of heroes appears in the film, even the deceased non-Jedi Han Solo who appears as a memory of Kylo Ren’s. Lando returns as a wise old general to help the younger heroes. We hear the voices of Jedi past, including Yoda, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, and Anakin among others. We see lightning shoot from the fingers of the Emperor, Luke use the Force to raise his X-Wing out of swampy waters, Admiral Ackbar’s son, and even the Ewoks make a brief appearance. To be fair, the onslaught of nostalgic elements is par for the course for a series closer, and most of these are actually extremely effective in eliciting the appropriate response from the audience. Where The Rise of Skywalker falls short is when its desire for nostalgia erases the advances in the storyline made during The Last Jedi. It does so frequently, and almost unapologetically.
I remember when the inimitable Alfonso Cuarón took over the reins of Harry Potter from Chris Columbus. The changes he made to the magical world in Prisoner of Azkaban were almost too much to handle at the time. However, they formed the basis for the remaining films in the franchise and provided the necessary service of elevating the series from children’s movies to more mature endeavors, mimicking the natural maturation of the book series in the process. Azkaban is actually now my favorite of the entire series (mainly because it is perhaps Rowling’s best of the books, and Caurón’s filmmaking is exceptional). Had J.J. Abrams decided to run with Rian Johnson’s new directions, he would have validated The Last Jedi and created a more coherent series finale. It seems as if he had hoped to dismiss The Last Jedi as an aberration in the series, but instead, he causes both films to feel somewhat out of place in the Star Wars legacy that has permeated our lives for the past 42 years.
Nonetheless, despite my disagreements with decisions made in the storytelling, I must still admit that I enjoyed the film. I am, after all, a Star Wars fan; some would say “junkie.” The nostalgic elements moved me almost every time. I was enthralled with every side adventure, every lightsaber duel, every dogfight, and every battle with a star destroyer. I eagerly watched the relationships evolve between the main characters. I relished in the (unnecessary) love stories. I kept thinking how great it was that Meriadoc Brandybuck had finally joined the Resistance. And as unconvincing as I found the Palpatine storyline, I still love seeing that Emperor do his Emperor-thing like no one else can.
The issue of Palpatine’s resurrection is never fully explained, but immortality does seem to be a theme of this movie. We see Rey use the Force to heal a wounded creature before we see her again use it to heal her Force-mate. When we see Ben Solo utilize the same technique later at a most opportune moment, it comes off as a bit fanciful and contrived. I buy it though. As the series progresses, we see each new generation learn to use the Force in new and creative ways. I don’t think any of this is out of line with our understanding of the Force. It’s maybe a bit hokey and a little too convenient, but it meshes with what we hear Palpatine say to Anakin in Revenge of the Sith.
The nay-sayers are already having their say, and saying a lot. Yes, the movie is flawed in many ways. But can’t we just enjoy a movie for a change. Many “true” fans will say that the movie does the series a disservice. I think true fans should just enjoy the nostalgia. That’s what series closers are for anyway. Unless, of course… Episode X… Disney? What say you?
Heywood says: B- IMDb | Rotten Tomatoes | Metacritic

*enables you* what happened with TLJ 👃
Tumblr media
After all these years I still can't properly find words to explain how deeply betrayed I felt after the credits rolled and I shuffled out of the movie theater with everybody else. There was a TON of hype surrounding this movie, an absolute fuckton. I only saw positive reviews about it, the cast, the director, the plot. I got excited to see where Rian Johnson & Co. would take the ST.
The only remotely negative comment I saw before watching the movie was a fandom blog saying they didn't like what happened to Poe. Since this blog was about racism in fandom, I knew something was off. That was my only warning.
And y'know, it was like, five minutes in? Ten minutes? And Poe makes a "Yo mama" joke at Hux? I used to go into movies with an open mind and spent days gathering my thoughts about them because I was always slow to react, slow to gather my thoughts into coherent strings of words. It's how I enjoyed Michael Bay productions and JJ Abrams' love affair with lens flare. I never got actively angry with a movie I was watching, and I was fucking angry by the time the movie ended. I still remember texting a friend while standing out in front of the theater because I was so confused. The response to TLJ was so positive so why did I come out of the movie so frustrated and confused and dissatisfied with the whole thing?
It's been years and we all know how this movie divided the Star Wars fandom and just... broke Fandom Spaces in a way I never expected. We all know what TLJ did and didn't do, and how TROS provided the final nail in the coffin that was the ST experiment. But back then, all I saw was positive commentary about the themes and messages of TLJ, how it portrayed failure and the dangers of putting someone like Luke Skywalker on a pedestal, how the Force was female, how... important it was to see Poe get characterized as a hotheaded hotshot who needed to be demoted, slapped around, and stunned in order to learn some kind of lesson, how important it was to see Finn lose everything he gained in TFA so that he could relearn how not to be selfish or something while starring in a fucking incredibly tone-deaf B plot, how Rey... I'm not sure exactly what because she didn't need training anyway and then spent most of her time trying to bring Ben Swolo back to the light????? Rose was so promising as someone who grew up under the FO's thumb but she and Kelly were fucking abandoned by Disney so I don't know if Rose existing was actually a good idea if it meant giving Kelly unending trauma. Mark slipped up by calling Luke "Jake" and expressing his displeasure in front of cameras, and I was so fucking baffled and alienated by his character after knowing how his story ended in ROTJ that I couldn't connect with whatever lessons I and he are supposed to be learning. JJ set up Snoke like a mystery box and Rian just yeeted him off without so much as a fucking explanation so what was the point of that? Hux was a fucking joke. Phasma was barely there. The only character that Rian cared about was fucking Kylo Ren and Adam says years later that he was never supposed to get a redemption arc anyway.
Like, this was the movie everyone hyped up? This was the movie that didn't answer any questions left unasked by TFA and didn't bother to move forward with character development for any of the known characters? I spent money watching a slow space chase that ended on a planet made of salt and killed off Luke for Reasons? Am I stupid? Am I dumb? Am I a peasant incapable of understanding the masterpiece Rian directed, this so-called Best Star Wars Movie Since ESB?
But I couldn't say anything. I couldn't be dogpiled for hating such a empowering movie for women, a diverse and inclusive movie that had the likes of John and Kelly and Oscar. I couldn't be lumped in with the Star Wars dudebros with their raging misogynistic and racist takes on the movie, the cast, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm, Disney, etc. I couldn't be seen as one of them just because I didn't like a movie that I should like, I'm supposed to like. So I sat in silence, read meta, witnessed the fucking catastrophic explosion around some wild ass AO3 fandom essays written by a racist OG member of OTW about Finn/Poe, saw hate piled on black and bipoc fans, saw r*ylo fans come for John and John clap back at them, just saw an absolute fuckton of hate, and so by the time TROS came around I just... checked out. There was no way JJ could salvage what Rian had done and I was right. TROS was a corporate-run soulless garbage end to the Sequel Trilogy, but it ended just as The Mandalorian finished its first season and regained a lot of good will with this small story about a lonely Mandalorian bounty hunter who encountered a Force-sensitive Baby Yoda.
And then TBOBF/Season 3 of the Mando Show happened, just like how TLJ happened. All the promise, all the unanswered questions of the previous movie/season, all fucking dropped or provided with the worst, most unsatisfying answer. I'm sure others have found better answers and can live with what Star Wars gave us, but I haven't been able to. TLJ came out years and years ago, and I am still so bitter today. I'm still so bitter because TFA had such an incredibly compelling setup with such promising characters, and then TLJ Did That.
I got so heated while writing this. I'm still so mad. I'm still so bitter. I bury my head so deep in the sandbox I built for myself so that I don't have to think how Disney is twisting and contorting all these Mando'verse shows so that they all eventually lead to the ST, their precious hot potato child that just... didn't have to end the way they did if they actually had a fucking plan and fucking stuck the landing. I'll give the MCU this - their Phase 1? They fucking stuck the landing. I fell off the train tracks and haven't really watched the MCU since Captain Marvel, but at least they had a fucking plan and didn't fucking derail themselves like Disney did with the Sequel Trilogy.
I could be nice to people who like this movie but I'm not going to be. They can be nice on their own blogs.
Man, I can't even watch Knives Out or Glass Onion because my blood starts boiling. Just. TLJ did a lot to ruin what I hoped would be a positive and creative connection with Star Wars, and it took the Mando Show and the 2 minutes where Din and Luke locked eyes on the Imperial light cruiser to bring me back.
I'm gonna stop before I get way too heated for sleep.

"A Green Queen" AU
Prologue Part II
A toad was sent to the warp-pipe that afternoon and as planned a troopa had taken it to the king.
Bowser reviewed the response quickly and returned a letter back within the hour, notifying the princess that he'd peacefully arrive to discuss the situation that very evening.
So there they were, along with Toad, stared daringly at the smokey flying castle landing on a hill in the distance. Peach had made sure to include that the demands along with everything that included Luigi's safety to be discussed over dinner. She didn't want to leave room for misunderstandings or loopholes this time around.
Once they had made it to the castle dining room, surely Luigi would have a clear head and make a better decision, right?
The King Koopa had agreed to meet them but was told he could attend as long as his ship and army were at the edge of the Mushroom kingdom.
Over everything, Peach wanted to ensure the safety and comfortability of her subjects which meant she needed to have the tension relieves from both sides.
In addition to the distance and to make things fair for him, had settled with Bowser having a handful of his own guards escorting him along with his magik koopa, Kamek.
The curfew was in effect by the time he and his troops arrived at the town. The windows of the small huts and homes were shut tight, shops were closed, and the streets were empty.
Bowser grinned at the sight and with a claw simply plucked an apple from a sales crate, but as he was about to eat it, Kamek butted in.
"Your Highness, we are here on a temporary truce. Please don't eat their resources without payment..."
Bowser huffed, "Yeah yeah, just wanted a snack before we get there..". He flicked the puncture apple at the crate but the force knocked several of the apples out onto the ground. "Ugh, clean this up."
The koopas behind him nodded as they scrambled to pick up the apples. Bowser yawned and headed forward with the remaining troops and Kamek while they finished up.
The floor quaked as Bowser and his party made it to the main entrance, once they stopped, a stillness tainted the air. His scales rivaled the sun's and his eyes almost seemed calm as he gazed down at the group. Too calm.
"Princess."
"Bowser."
They had bowed to one another, the mushroom guards behind her simply glanced at each other. They were astonished by the king's composure that one of their helmets slumped over their eyes.
"It must be hard for you to see I've taken slight interest in another, but don't worry. I only intend on puni-"
Luigi's breath hitched while Mario narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
Kamek interrupted, getting in front of the King while gritting his teeth, "Your highness! Like we practiced." He turned back to the group and gave a nervous chuckle as he moved aside to let the tall koopa speak.
The King raised an eyebrow at the magikoopa, a bit confused, but once it clicked he cleared his throat and spoke, "Right... I intend to treat him like a 'queen'...."
Peach looked a bit uncertain, but nodded, "W-We can talk about the details in the dining room. Mario and I will catch up with you all in a moment. The guards will safely escort you and Luigi there."
"What?!", The bros yelled.
Mario looked more pissed than he had been before the agreement, "You can't let this-this overgrown lizard go in with my brother alone!"
"I am RIGHT here!", Bowser rumbler, smoke snorted from his nostrils as he looked over to the short plumber.
Peach, sensed the hostility, gently addressed that she only wanted to let them go ahead first because Bowser and his troops were unfamiliar with the castle, "You two can talk about the simple terms towards your.. 'demands'..."
Bowser lifted his claw to his chin and scratched it slightly. Kamek whispered something to him which lit up his expression. He grinned and stepped past the guards,"Fine, lead the way short shack."
The mushroom guards looked at each other then hurried past Bowser to lead him and three of his koopa troopa inside.
"We also need to talk..", Peach noted as she turned to Mario.
Mario took off his hat and walked over to the ledge of the rounded fountain. He rubbed the bridge between his clenched eyebrows and thoughts and scenarios played through his head.
Mario sighed, defeated. He watched as his brother and Bowser walked inside. The uncertainty and worry in Mario's eyes merely reflected his brother's silhouette.
The Princess walked over slowly and sat down beside him, "I don't know entirely what he's thinking about all of this. It's like you mentioned earlier, you're both citizens but I don't have complete say in what you do, but... Luigi is tougher than he looks and he is just as noble as any ruler. I can understand it being hard to let go of a loved one, even if it's just temporary but if he chooses to go with Bowser.. you might have to accept that as his answer right now."
"I know you mean well, and I know the plan was to have him take your place when we rescue you then get him out during the wedding. But now you both want him to go back with that rampaging trashy turtle?! I.. why?!"
Mario looked up at her as he placed his cap back on, then turned his gaze out at the kingdom and the warm lantern lights below. "Of course, but that's exactly what worries me. Him choosing this, choosing to go and this decision being the reason he's hurt even more."
"...Ugh. You, green mustached one. You look... well?"
In the castle, the group made it to the lavish dining room. The silverware and appetizers were set out on the table already which caused Luigi to instinctively lick his lips with the savory aroma filling the air.
The guards of each kingdom took to their posts as Bowser decided to take his seat and patiently wait. Luigi frantically glanced at what he was doing and followed slightly.
He sat at a seat near the middle of the long dining table, while Bowser took the far end away from him. Several chef and staff Toads were setting down the last of the food and were finally getting the glasses for drinks. Kamek whispered something to the calm king as he glanced over at the tiny man, who was now fiddling with his thumbs.
"I usually sleep in early and have a little routine I do before bed. I have this nice air purifier, so I can..", Luigi went on.
"Huh?", Luigi looked up at him confused.
'Was this his attempt at a compliment? Should I respond? Maybe compliment him?'
Bowser glared at Kamek then raised his hand to silence his rambling. Luigi flinched, but kept his mouth shut, shaking. "I'm not interested in whatever nightly rituals you perform. I just came here to get a Queen."
"Why do you... want a queen? I-If you don't mind me asking."
The King grumbled, "I don't have to explain my reasons to someone who flinches at the mere sight of my claw.". Despite that, he enjoyed the fact that he could instill fear in the plumber, unlike his measley brother.
Luigi sat up his seat, not really liking the answer he got but looked back at his thumbs, defeated; he then tried to chuckle the comment off, hoping he'd feel better if he just ignored it. "R-Right.."
A few moments later, and a guard announced the princess and Mario entering the dining room.
She couldn't understand their silent argument either.
As they entered, she gracefully walked to the other end of the table and sat down. Luigi glanced up and noticed Bowser's eyes wander as he followed her every move.
Mario quickly motioned for Luigi to move over to his end of the table, but his brother protested at first which lead the fiery lizard to awkwardly look at Peach for clarification.
As he watched for a minute, Bowser smirked at Mario's anger and decided to add to it. "Since he is to rule by my side, shouldn't he sit next to me? He will be by my side regardless.", The King demanded.
The Princess sensed where this was going, "Actually, I think the seating placement is fine. Luigi can stay where he is."
Bowser, not completely pleased by this, growled with content since he was still closer to him than his brother. A small grin plastered on his face as he looked over to the red mustached human.
Mario, now standing, sat down abruptly. Holding his furious gaze at the lizard.
"Now.." she started. "You.. had mentioned that you'd like your queen? If I remember correctly, you and Luigi aren't entirely married, since the papers were forged. Up until the point of reveal, you had no idea it was him signing them."
"Well yes. I was furious that you would pull such a scheme, Princess. You know my flames only burn for your affection. However, the laws here are different from our customs. Signature doesn't matter, but who signs it does. Even if he used your signature, he signed it physically. As for the wedding, it's more of a customary thing, I enjoy planning those kinds of events. As I said in my letter however, the green one and I are officially married.", The King grumbled. His claws digging into the chair's handles and he clenched his jaws.
"What?!"
Mario looked over at the Princess who tensed up from the realization that Bowser was truly going to force him into it. She stared at Bowser for a bit, trying to find an ounce of malice, but to no avail the king was telling the truth.
Mario noticed her look of concern almost like she'd given into his demands, but put his anger aside for a moment to reevaluate the situation.
"So you're saying that my brother, even though he signed in the disguise as the princess, is still LEGALLY married to you? How does that even work? That doesn't make sense! It should be terminated since it was a fraud!"
Bowser grumbled, but as Kamek cleared his throat, he calmed down. "His highness, has the paperwork as well as a copy of our laws to prove it and the ceremony was only there to officiate their partnership, but the documents regardless of whether it was the princess or not, state that he will be married to the king. The mustachioed human IS the Queen of the Koopas... at least in writing.."
"What...what does that mean?", Peach asked.
Kamek looked to Bowser to speak only for him to wave his claws. "Well, a queen is allowed to rule for a year, if she finds the king to be an unfit partner, if he is... sterile, or doesn't accept the king entirely, the queen can leave. In addition to this, the queen isn't entirely the ruler until six months have passed, because of...egg season.."
The King interrupted him, "But, we've decided since this was somewhat of a mix up, we're generously demanding that I keep him for the year, so we can disregard that incident."
"And?" Kamek chimed in.
Bowser sighed, "And, to dismiss the marriage documents. He can reject me or whatever by the end of the year."
"And what if he refuses?", She answered. Mustering up the courage to speak.
Luigi quivered at the thought of being stuck with Bowser for months on end, in the Darklands no less.
The Princess was still processing all of this and tried to dig out some kind of loophole.
"One way or another, I am taking him with me.", Bowser said. He looked down at her as he was taking a sip of the soup from the tiny spoon.
Mario protested, "I refuse! You have to be pulling this shit out of your ragged ass! If you think you can just waltz in here and demand-"
"Mario!", Peach gasped.
Mario was about to say something else, but turned to his brother, dread filling his eyes. "Luigi?"
"I'll do it."
"W-With your permission Princess Peach. I will go with the king as his.....Queen..", Luigi gulped finally looking up from his plate at her.
She smiled a bit, but before she could speak, ended up taken aback as Mario bolted from his chair and rushed over to Luigi.
"You can't be serious! I thought you were just messing around earlier, b-but you can'-"
"I-I'm completely serious!"
"Luigi, look me in the eyes and tell me you're one hundred percent certain and guaranteed fine spending five minutes in the same room, ALONE with the komodo dragon wannabe over there!", He said in one breath.
Luigi didn't look at him, he didn't move. His eyes were glued on the Princess, still determined to wait for her answer.
Mario knew nothing he was saying would get through to him. He remembered what Peach had said at the fountain and as he removed his hands from Luigi's shoulders, he looked at Peach awaiting her response.
The Princess knew she'd hear an earful about this later, but could see the courage in Luigi's eyes. She felt a sense of pride in seeing him boldly take this leap, but also guilt that she was partially to blame.
"A-Also, I'd like to visit at the end of each month...", Luigi added.
"I, Princess Peach of the Mushroom kingdom, agree with your demands King of the Koopas. Luigi may be your queen, but if a year passes and he is displeased with the position and marriage. You WILL let him go, no retaliation, no attacks, and no outrageous schemes to get him back. Do you agree with these conditions?"
The King grinned, knowing he couldn't lose either way, but was still conflicted about the visits. He didn't want the two to conspire, but he'll consider how to conduct the visits later.
".... Fine."
The Princess let out a breath of relief and gave a simple smile as the last of her stress escaped. Bowser looked over at her and announced that a group of soldiers and his general will retrieve Luigi tomorrow evening.
"Dress accordingly, your duties as my Queen start that night, so prepare yourself.", Bowser smirked, a deep roar building as he spoke.
Luigi nodded, not sure what he'd wear, or why he'd start so soon. He looked over to his brother, proud that he stood so firm in his decision, all on his own only to see Mario, defeated. He had the frill of his hat over his eyes as he finished up his soup then walked off into the corridors cursing under his breath.
"Fine, but we'll be back tomorrow for him."
The taller of the two had a shock of pain fly across his face, he knew Mario only retreated this badly if he was in serious distress and excused himself from the table.
Bowser rolled his eyes as he stood up to interject, he couldn't understand what the big deal was, he got what he wanted. The Toad guards defensively crossed their staffs to stop him and though he could easily crush their toothpicks, he simply sat down and finished the free meal.
End of the Prologue

I'm curious, do ppl hate Love Never Dies because they think Eristine is problematic and it's made canon in it, or is it due to something else? I havent watched it yet or anything but i like the vibes, lol
Heh... Love Never Dies has always been controversial at the very least? It came out at a time where Erik/Christine was still the most popular ship in the phandom - it still is, by the way. That didn't change despite a clear shift in fandom and ""problematic content"" around 2013, so a good 3 years after the musical came out. If anything, Raoul/Christine shippers have been a minority for most of the phandom's history, and both sides of the debate at some point more or less decided to agree to disagree (I mean, the homophobic slurs Raoul would get at times were starting to REALLY be in poor taste), except on the point that without the love triangle, there wouldn't be much of a story, and there are various ways of interpreting said love triangle. So, quite frankly, I don't understand why some people on either side are trying to restart discourse in the POTO fandom but I digress. And look, if you see people in the tags saying that Erik/Christine is problematic, they're probably new, and not really representative of the phandom at large. Anything having to do with Sierra Boggess is more controversial.
I really don't think the controversy stems from it making Erik and Christine bang and have a love child - I know there are some people who are against the idea of any kind of sequel, in fanfic form or otherwise, for a variety of reasons, but most of them were being responsible adults about it and didn't actively seek fanfic. As I mentioned before, a lot of folks were Erik/Christine shippers and thought that Christine was more into the Phantom than into Raoul, that's nothing new. But a lot of them also had issues with how LND dealt with it, for several reasons. It didn't come from an "anti" sentiment, it was very much them having issues with the material that was presented to them.
Raphael/phantoonsoftheopera (who is a long time fan of POTO) goes into more detail here and I think he sums up a lot of phans' thoughts back in 2010 when LND came out (whether they shipped the Phantom and Christine or not), and I think @musicalhell is another one who was also around at the time (feel free to pop in, and hope I'm not bothering you with the tag).
As for the rest, I wish I could defend ALW's choices here in the same way I'd defend Lana Wachowski for Matrix Resurrections - i.e. you're allowed to not like it but this is this creator's baby and they're allowed to do whatever they want with it, so let's all respect art for the sake of art here. But LND is very much a vanity project, as ALW has proven multiple times, that is mean-spirited to its core in various ways. For my fellow SW fans, it's the TROS to POTO'S TLJ. The cast and crew were treated in a really shitty way back in the original London production days, same with critics of the show, and there was even a case where a journalist and long time phan who provided a critical review of LND was demeaned in an article as some sort of sad housewife who was obsessed with POTO. Mind you, ALW has tried to make LND work FOR YEARS, with various productions and tours opening here and there, but it always underperforms. And mind you, the Eristine crowd is still hanging around, and POTO is doing extremely well whereever it goes to this day. If the Eristine content was good, the crowds would follow, "problématique" posts and tweets or not. They aren't there.

Now that I finished reading (and reviewing) Collateral, I thought I'd come with some questions, if you haven't answered them before! This was the first fic you posted, but was it the first HxL fic idea you had? How did you come up with this particular take on the Ord Mantell mission? Are there any subtle Easter eggs that you had fun including?
Ooh, thank you for asking! Other than a vague idea I started to write down as a preteen that essentially amounted to “Han proposes to Leia the night after the Battle of Endor and I’m sure I’ll come up with an actual plot later”, this was the first fic idea I had. I had written for another much, much smaller fandom in high school, but hadn’t written or read fanfic in probably 15 years or more. I was in severe professional burnout toward the end of 2022, had just sort of re-embraced Star Wars after avoiding it a lot post-TROS, and decided to start reading for my original OTP. I had also been working on a novel for quite a long time and it was driving me insane, so after blazing my way through a ton of Han/Leia fics on FFN, and later on AO3, I thought I might try writing some fanfic just to have fun with writing again since the novel was making me miserable.
I remember coming up with the idea for the Committee first — the intent with at least part of the fic was to suggest that a lot of the stuff Leia and Han say to piss each other off in ESB are kind of low-blow-type callbacks to private jokes or things they had discussed previously. I also remember reflecting a bit on their relationship and how it’s portrayed at the beginning of ESB — how some people have interpreted that to mean that they spent three dang years griping at one another, but somehow fell in love in between verbal jabs. I think I mentioned this in an early author’s note on Collateral — I had a friendship that was mostly verbal sparring and stupid arguments about things neither of us cared about and it stops being fun after awhile. Eventually, we both just kind of started acting normal around one another. And I just kind of figured that, even if Han and Leia started out picking each other apart, there’s no way they’d go from that to romance in a few words, so I felt like they had to have a friendlier history than what we’re shown. (Plus, I may be reading too much into it, but the way Carrie and Harrison play those parts in that movie, it doesn’t seem like two people who just hate each other to me; it seems like two people who’ve been deeply wounded by one another and aren’t sure what they’re supposed to do. And you have to care about each other somewhat to be wounded by one another, ya know?)
I wanted a fic that was limited in scope for my first fic so I wouldn’t get too carried away with trying to add to a meandering plot or whatever, so I decided on the couple of weeks before ESB starts. I had read a handful of fics about Ord Mantell or referencing Ord Mantell and decided I wanted to do my own take on it. I didn’t know a ton of Star Wars lore, so I remember having to research on Wookieepedia a ton. I do believe my initial intent was for Han and Leia to start their romantic relationship on the trip, but the characters misbehaved while I was writing and Leia kissed Han in her room instead, and I ended up going with that.
Even though I knew most H/L fans would be expecting Ord Mantell to go poorly, I wanted to repeatedly put people at ease, at least in theory. The gang isn’t even worried about Ord Mantell, so why should we be? Everything’s going so well! Han and Leia go on a cute date and everything is fine! Basically, if someone went into the story not knowing about the infamy that Ord Mantell has gained in H/L circles, I wanted them to wonder if anything was actually going to go wrong.
As far as Easter eggs go…I wrote Han with the “Han Solo is mildly Force-sensitive” fan theory in mind. It’s not blatant, but it’s there. Some of the conversations they have reference Leia, Princess of Alderaan and From a Certain Point of View (Leia knowing Huttese comes to mind), and I do assume people catch this, but just in case someone didn’t, the final big conversation that Leia and Han have in her office occurs the afternoon before ESB picks up. The sensors she talks about are the same ones he and Luke are placing at the beginning of the movie.
Oh! Wait! I forgot my favorite one. I never come out and say it, and I don’t know if I even ever implied it, but in my mind, the reason the Falcon is in such rough shape at the beginning of ESB is because, after Leia and Han’s interactions go entirely sour, she stops helping with background repairs, which means Han and Chewie have more to do with just the two of them.
This was incredibly long! Hope that’s okay 😂

Rey Solo... Rey from Jakku.... Rey No one... anything but Rey Skywalker.
The Last Jedi simply revealed that Rey was a "nobody" – perhaps the most shocking and least expected outcome for the Rey lineage debate. It was a perfect twist in our heroine story despite people seeming desperate for her to be connected to some man already in the franchise.
Daisy Ridley has even expressed her frustration with the Rey’s lineage debate multiple times, “I love that Rey is such a great character, they’re like: ‘No, no, she has to be… she has to be-’She’s her own person! Let her be her guys, let her live."
Exactly! Why did people care so much? Maybe initially, it was fun to hypothesize. However, once the reveal came out people actually liked that she was fresh, a brand new start instead of just nostalgia, or, a way to continue on a males legacy. We have Ben Solo for that, or, at least we did.
Tumblr media
More than a shocking twist created just to subvert expectations, the Rey “no one” reveal encapsulated The Last Jedi’s perfect message – anyone could be the hero of their own story.  Rey’s realization was that her heritage don’t matter ... all that matters is who she chooses to be now. Rey’s legacy didn't need to be defined by Luke or Leia, which would leave her free to start her own story - hell, Star Wars to have a future. On the other end was Ben/Kylo Ren, who did come from the mighty Skywalker family and hailed as the son of heroes and wanted to escape that legacy.
Then here comes JJ "Nostalgia Kind" Abrams and Chris Terrio. Terrio here “We also thought that Rey’s arc cannot be finished after Episode VIII. You can leave Episode VIII and say, “Well, now, Rey is content. She’s discovered her parents aren’t Skywalkers, or whatever, and that’s fine.” But so much of her personal story was about where she came from, what kept her on Jakku all those years and the trauma that shaped her. We see quite strongly in Episode VII that something mysterious and troubling happened to her. Although she did get some answers in Episode VIII, we didn’t feel that that story was over. We felt that there were still more questions in Rey’s head about where she came from and where she was going. So, that was the other big idea that we had to address in this film. Rian’s answer to, “What’s the worst news that Rey could receive?” was that she comes from junk traders, and that’s true. She does come from junk traders; we didn’t contradict that.” No, you just went back to what you wanted in the beginning.
By the end Rey takes on not only the Skywalker name but she looks over two suns which brings me to the point of this essay...... if Ben wasn't going to be there, then she should have taken last name. Rey Solo.
Tumblr media
What's irritating about LucasFilm/Disney is their desire to appease everyone. I don't give a damn about the antis, nor should they. Reylos were a big support group for the films and mightily invested. TROS came off as trying to please everyone. If we really think about, with the exception of the end of Exegol, the Rey and Kylo interactions lacked depth and intimacy. Perhaps it's just not the style of JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio, who did support the pairing.
While I'm 100% convinced Reylo was planned, all the creators seemed very open to adjusting if it wasn't working. Hence why Finn and Poe were both open considerations, especially Finn. I don’t think Adam or Daisy intentionally played up any sexual tension in their scenes together to give us an impression about something in TFA.  I think it just happened.  Early bird Reylos picked up on it.  Some critics, including the one who wrote the TFA review for Time magazine, picked up on it. Rian Johnson picked up on it too and the rest is history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leia’s behavior's is odd for entire decades. Being a trained Jedi herself, she could have taught her son - instead she sent him to his uncle( Oh wait, that was a retcon). Han was either helping with the Resistance or off doing something shady. From the novels we learn that Ben heard his parents arguing and talking about him like he was a monster ever since he was a child, and that when he was sent away this seemed to confirm to him that something was wrong with him and had to be fixed. (From the novels we also learn that he actually had no ambition to become a Jedi and wanted to be a pilot - true Skywalker and also Solo that he is -, but he had no say in the matter.)
For both Ben and Rey, their journey is about letting go of childhood trauma and discovering their own independence. Ultimately it's about their pairing being both emotionally healing AND a balance in the force. They are a DYAD after all. I saw all this to say, he is her closest personal connection and impact through the 3 films. Leia is her master but we don't see that, it happened off camera.
Terrio says that the decision to have Rey take on the name “Skywalker” was a way to show that “you can choose your ancestry.” Which is not true and also a strange thing to say considering.
Which brings me to the correction of this tricky trail. Pay Adam Driver want he wants and reunite the dyad.

A Cynical Review of Rey's Costumes in TROS
I guess we'd better talk about Rey's two costumes in Rise of Skywalker and what they mean (or don't).
Tumblr media
Okay, this movie is bad. But the costumes have as much attention to detail as always so let's look at this one. It is very similar to her first costume but now is pure white (which I guess you can't tell from this picture, but trust me). She's back to capris and having her hair all the way up. And I gotta be honest, mostly this outfit seems like repression. Her hair is in the style of waiting for her parents instead of continuing the progression of letting it down that TLJ started (like, Leia and Padme both have their hair down in the final movie, you know?). Also in TLJ, she got a scar on her arm that looked like two hands reaching toward each other (almost as if some hugely important thing happened to her that two hands reaching could symbolize). And this costume just straight-up covers it with its own special leather band, and it is never mentioned at all. So, yeah, Daisy looks great in white, but that is Leia's color and Leia's hood and she could have had a costume that reflected the end of her arc instead of one that put her back into her pre-TFA mode.
Female representation: 10/10 Other than the character implications, it is still a great outfit for her to wear. As with the other iterations, it emphasizes femininity without objectifying her. No complaints here.
Practicality: 10/10 I sort of the feel the hood isn't the most practical (I thought the gauzy bits were scarves for that purpose, I guess?) but it's still as practical as anything else she wears.
Tumblr media
When we briefly see Dark!Rey, this is what she's wearing. It honestly seems like a good mix between what Kylo Ren wore in TFA and what the Emperor wears. So it's perfect thematically as they are the dark siders tempting her (in different ways, obviously). But I wish it was a bit more realistic for her to wear, more like a black version of the second TLJ costume.
Female representation: 10/10 Ladies going dark often means there is an excuse to dress them in out-of-character sexy outfits. I appreciate that she is even more covered up than usual.
Practicality: 8/10 Definitely the least practical thing Rey wears, but it's still pretty good. The skirt and the cloak might get in the way of some acrobatics she might otherwise be using, for example.

A/N:    Yessss it’s Hux turn now to be embarrassed 😈 by the stars I hope I did him justice. And this is not even the real deal. How do people even write this stuff?
Oh wait, I just did… somewhere in the next chapters 😬🙋
(Don't get any wrong ideas, me publishing 2 chapters in 2 days is a unique thing 😂 Let me know if some parts are inconsistent - I reviewed this so many times and I am literally falling asleep on my desk. But publishing the previous chapter got me enthusiastic and now I'm doing things I might regret yolooooooooo)
Tumblr media
This was different.
Once, when he was still a Lieutenant and reluctantly assigned to drill newcomers by Brendol, he instructed cadets on their first shooting lessons. He took the job seriously, but the mandatory physical contact was something he had liked to avoid as much as possible. Having his father oversee his progress didn’t really help. The latter thought he could never do any good and ever since Sloane had bestowed the group of commandants' cadets from Arkanis on him, and made it clear the commandant had to convey his teaching techniques to him, tensions were… high.
Nonetheless, he made sure the new cadets were on the top rankings within the then already distributed First Order training curriculum, and tutoring these classes became a routine job.
This time, however, he felt that every little contact filled him with static electricity, although he was absolutely certain that was scientifically impossible. It made him lighter in his touch, doubtful, but also slightly longing to explore the strange responses their physical connection was making. He was slowly becoming aware that he was lingering just a bit too long on her hands, her arm, her shoulder, but he could not let go just yet. Seeing goosebumps form on her lower arm and the fact that he knew he was causing them, made him want to see which other effects he could have on her.
He gulped, all of a sudden conscious that the mysterious effect was starting to become bidirectional. His head felt light,  caused by little sparks popping up in his brain, and his face felt like it was burning. Contradictory, goosebumps formed underneath his clothes. He became aware of how the fabric was rubbing his skin and he couldn't stop thinking about how it would be if it were her warm hands instead.
Hux took a sharp breath and tried to concentrate on the task at hand, forcing his eyebrows into a harsh furrow as much as possible in an effort to hide any other evidence apparent on his features.
“Remember this position. The stance of your arm will catch up the recoil. Now, try to aim and shoot,” he said sternly, hoping she didn’t hear the slight raspiness of his voice.
The blush on his cheeks refused to subside though, as did the thoughts of exploring her exposed skin some more. So he hastily decided to create some distance between them, before he would do something he might regret.
Once he regained his wits somewhat, he slowly went to stand behind Miko, trying to march with a steady thread. He hoped she wouldn’t turn around to check on him, because he suspected she could easily notice the result of his state of mind now.
Stars , this wasn’t the first time she made him lose his cool like this. He hated it, how she threw him off balance, made him feel out of control.
Miko positioned the blaster as instructed and took a shot. The result wasn’t good, but definitely better than the previous feeble attempt.
Looking at her stance, there was still some work to do. "Spread your legs a bit more" he added, very much aware that the instruction could be misinterpreted, given the light tremor intruding his spoken words. To his relief, she didn’t say anything about it. Now that he thought about it,  she hadn't looked his way nor spoken for a while now. He wasn’t going to complain about that, thank the stars , but it was curious in comparison to her usual manners.
“Again, watch your left arm. Compensate.” he instructed, still aware that his voice didn't sound as determined as it usually did. The distance he created slowly made him able to focus again, though. At least enough, so he wouldn't blurt out ridiculous things. Or worse, do something he might regret.
Again, again, again, he had to repeat for another 10 minutes, and she still wasn’t able to hit the target - and he still wasn’t able to let the unprofessional thoughts dissipate. The only thing he could do for now, was keep them at bay.
He sighed, thinking about her lack of precision. When a recruit performed this badly, he usually sent them away for maintenance personnel training or something similar. Sanitising duty if he was extra annoyed.
But now, he had to persevere, if only for his own good. On top of that, his mind was still betraying him. It was as if it was sending him little doses of impure ideas, while having to watch her bring up her arms to aim the blaster, the pose exposing her curves more than usual. He repeatedly dictated her to correct her stance, resulting in her pivoting her feet with her usual energetic attitude. The accompanying harsh movements made her butt move in ways he couldn’t divert his gaze from, once he caught sight of it. Every little thing he noticed about her was making the shooting lessons even more of a challenge. But at least, the distance made it possible to subdue those thoughts enough to proceed with the exercise.
After another round of disheartening attempts, Miko hung down her shoulders and let out a frustrated moan, the raw noise bringing Armitage right back to his problematic thoughtlines, but this time much worse. He couldn’t stop the rather lewd visualisation that the sound forcibly pushed into his head. He could feel his blood boiling, his cheeks furiously glowing, fingers tingling as if they've been deprived of blood circulation all the while and oh by the galaxy his pants were becoming tighter…
Of all times, she turned around to face him now, as if she knew what he was going through after that groan of hers. In a haze of panic, Hux swiftly turned on his heels, towards the door, trying to hide the blush and other evidence in the less well lighted area of the loading bridge.
‘Short break’, he almost whispered, before he left the small hangar space.
Armitage fled to his quarters, for the second time locking the door, leaning onto it. He was acutely aware of the déjà vu, and he knew back then the urge, the want, only increased after he had opened the door. Whenever she got close to him, it was as if his body had a mind on its own. Before, he was able to control himself, but what happened in the hangar was absolutely ludicrous. He needed to get her out of his system, so he could actually instruct her without thinking about trailing his hands over not only her hands and arms, but also her back, trace the muscles there that pull her shoulders back as a response to his fingers, map the bones of her clavicle, watch her throat gulp when he passes there with his thumb, then dipping down slowly, cupping and squeezing her breasts, seeing her shudder under his touch running downwards, working his fingers under the hem of her pants, pulling her closer by her belt and…
Fuck. It was no use.
He was again standing there, up against the door, like a stupid horny lowlife, with a rock hard boner he could hang his greatcoat on. He felt foolish and worthless, not being able to keep his subconscious needs where they should remain: subconscious. He’s a frigging officer of the First Order, he was able to withstand much more triggers than this, mentally taking note that he was taking over her horrible swearing habits as well. Seeing someone act so freely, without any emotional boundaries, was stirring up things deep inside him he couldn't bring to words yet. It was tearing down his carefully built up walls and he wasn’t sure what to think about it.
But the dick was a serious issue. He still had to finish the training, to give their mission any chance of succeeding.
Frack.
He snapped open the neck clasp of his uniform and pulled the clothing open with a speed which could damage the material, but right now he couldn’t care less. He clipped open his belt, making sure the thing didn’t clatter on the floor and alarm her. For all he knew, she was standing right behind the door he was leaning onto. Oh by the maker … he shouldn’t have thought about that, an almost painful throb shooting through his cock, which made him lower his pants with a bit more care than the uncharacteristically frenzy he performed on his vest.
He took himself in his hand, shut his eyelids and debated whether or not he should do this. It’s been a while, he usually pulls so many all-nighters, making him pass out on his blue sofa or in best case in his bed with the datapad on his lap.
But, by closing his eyes, his wretched imagination took over, taking him back to the hangar and the sounds she let out, suddenly turning into something much more explicit in his imaginary ears. Stars, he hated the fact that he couldn’t control his thoughts from flowing freely, but it was no use - he couldn’t stop the images from popping up.
A fraction of a second later, he heard the same indecent noise but the scenery was replaced with the one in which she was only in one of his towels. When she was looking for something to wear, a few days ago, bowing down. His towels, his shirt, his… he wanted her to be his to claim…
He suddenly was standing mere inches from her flushed face, their breath’s mangling when she righted herselves and slowly leaned into him. He started peeling off the plush piece of fabric in his fabricated dream while he automatically started pumping himself, not aware of his ridiculous stance and the cold durasteel on his back. He was so far gone he wouldn’t notice a star exploding.
Hux didn’t think he still had a few brain cells left for producing imaginary scenarios like this, since he had tried to ignore them for so long.
But by taking the plunge, they made him dive so deep into his subconsciousness he wasn’t even aware of what was up or down and by the gods of the galaxy he was yearning, yearning for a soft touch, to make her feel good and just feel something in return, feel worthy and content, for once in his life. To be in control of her pleasure, to make her whimper under his touch when he slowly traced her arms and shoulder, like he did in the hangar, her plump breasts, her buttcheeks, every detail of her skin. Just take in the effects he could have on her and feed on them. Greedily take the nape of her neck in his hands and pull her closer to taste her, pulling her legs up and press-
He shuddered, quickly imagining being buried deep down in her, the pressing of his hands on her hips and her neck leaving bruises, and pulling her impossibly closer on his spilling cock.
He opened his eyelids, the light of the room playing tricks on his retina because he squeezed his eyes close too hard. He only then realised his hands were sticky from his cum, coming down from a height he hadn’t been on for a very long time.
Actually, if he thought about it, he couldn’t have imagined it was ever like this. This…intense… real. Soft? His usual sexual fantasies were definitely not this emotionally loaded and soft. And took a while longer to reach its climax. This was ridiculously improvised.
Now that he was more or less thinking clearly, it made him feel sick.
He was still trying to catch his breath, pondering on why she was doing this to him. How was he going to be able to withstand these urges he never had to keep under control before?
Hux heard some rambling in the wardroom, snapping him out the leftovers of his trance. How long was he standing here against the door? She might start asking questions if I don't get my act together now . He stumbled to the sink, washed up quickly, hastily put on his clothes - hissing when he raked the bacta patch while pulling his pants up - and combed his hair. Then, he double checked his appearance in the mirror, wanting to make sure there was no evidence left of his previous state of distress.
He took a deep breath, put his head up high and took long strikes to the door. This time, he wouldn’t allow himself to get distracted.
He just entered the wardroom and noticed Miko walking towards the cockpit, datapad and some rubbish in both hands.
What is she up to? Again?
Armitage followed her wake, both annoyed by her sudden and unauthorised action and curious what got into her head this time. When he arrived, that droid and she were doing something at the comm unit and didn't look at him entering.
"All set and done. You should be able to connect to my commlink now!” She exclaimed with a smile, signalling him that she did notice his arrival.
"The new identification code they provided us with is also installed. Your ship should be listed as a cargo vessel right now." She happily mentioned, after she placed her hands on her hips.
Hux sighed, glad a practical conversation might make him forget about what he just wanted to do to her, and replied: "Let's hope no one wants to actually check it out, because one glance from an enthusiastic republican will get us into trouble." Miko quickly turned her head towards him. “We should’ve painted the ship in a happy colour, you’re right. Like, bright orange.” she whispered in a secretive way.
He cocked his eyebrow, not sure what to do with her comment.
”Kidding Hux, I don’t have a death wish. Although I don’t know if death at your hands would be worse than whatever we’re facing next.” she said smilingly, turning back to the controls.
Hux gulped and decided not to react to that comment. He was content to hear she didn’t underestimate him, but he did just think about fucking her with his hands on her neck and now… he decided the weapons controls needed to be checked.
Any distraction would do.
After a short pause, she righted her back and said to him: “I'm done here. Up for round 2?”
He harshly turned his attention to her, slightly confused and already sweating under his collar, the sentence having a completely different meaning in his ears. Before he could actually register what she was really talking about, she exclaimed “I’ll be in the hangar” and turned around with a slightly bubbly attitude.
He sighed again and followed her wake, keeping enough distance. He wasn’t going to get tricked by his hormones twice.
The training session went on for another 30 standard minutes. Hux kept his distance and was able to find back his instructor mode, and even keep any unwanted distractions to a minimum. They kept going, until she was able to automatically pull, aim and shoot. Actually hitting a target was beneath any standards, but for the approaching rendezvous, just having the movement in her physical memory would have to suffice.
The proximity alarm went off, signalling their arrival. The duo stopped their activities. Miko holstered the blaster, put PC on her back, and followed in Hux’ shadow towards the cockpit.
A/N: Shields breaking, walls cracking… next time, maybe teeth colliding? Who knows…

You exited the south doors of St. John the Divine Catholic High School, chatting happily with your friends about catching a movie that weekend. Reviewing the day's tests and giggling about the dumb thing that James Otterbine had said in Spanish class.
Your friend Kim, paused in the conversation, her eyes latching onto something in the distance.
"Um, Y/N I think that guy's staring at us..." she looked around you curiously.
You looked over your shoulder, "what guy?"
The smile fell from your face, and your gut dropped to your toes.
It was him.
Leaning up against his navy blue racer, was Billy Hargrove lighting a cigarette.
"Do you know him?" Kim asked.
You laughed nervously, "Me? No... nah. But tell ya what, I'll go get rid of him." You dropped your tone to barely above a whisper, "asshole."
As you stormed up to the camaro, he greeted you with a drawn-out exhale of smoke.
"Hey, schoolgirl. Miss me?" he asked smugly.
"You wish." you scoffed, arms crossing tight across your cardigan.
He shrugged, head tilting and unbothered as he took another puff of his cigarette. "Well that blows..." he concluded.
"Yeah and how's that?" you humored him, an eyebrow cocked.
"Cuz I drove all this way, and you're gonna put on a charade." He exhaled, his shoulders dropping for emphasis, "when we both know you're not the goody-two-shoes you pretend to be..."
Your face flushed, eyes flickering in momentary panic. "Shut up."
The smirk on his lips said it all.
He was right.
You inhaled deeply. You couldn't let him compromise your image, but you also couldn't deny the gravitational pull he held over you.
"Not here..." you pressed out reluctantly. "Come back in 30... When everyone's gone."
His eyes flashed bright, as he quickly flicked his smoke to the wayside, getting in the car, and leaving.
Walking back to your friend, you smiled weakly. "See? Problem solved."
A little over half an hour later you were sitting on one of the school planters waiting when an engine roared into the now empty school lot.
Pulling up to the curb, he rolled down the passenger window looking at you amused. "Comin?"
You rose without a word and got into the car. Eyes scanning around, on the off chance that you might be caught by someone you knew.
He blew out of the school parking lot, engine revving as the landscape around you began to blur.
"Where are we going?" you asked, expecting to be taken back to that same gritty service road you visited the first time you'd been together.
He looked over at you, smile pricking his lips, tongue peeking out at the corner. "You're that impatient, huh? Want me to stop anywhere and bend you over?" he challenged, foot toeing heavily on the brakes.
Your eyes went wide, heart thumping wildly. "N-no! That's not what I meant. I just..."
He took a sudden sharp turn down a farm access road, stopping short of a small thicket of trees. The fields were flat and barren in the early spring air, the planting barely starting.
"Billy we'll be seen" you hissed desperately, your eyes pleading.
He was already out of the car, coming around to open your door.
"Relax, no one's gonna know their ass from their elbow out here." he reasoned, leaning on your door.
Tentatively stepping a foot out of the car you looked around. "Are you sure? I don't wanna get in tro-"
Billy wrapped a hand around your wrist, pulling you the rest of the way out, slamming the door, and pinning you against it. "Are you gonna be a good girl your whole fucking life? Or are you gonna live a little?" he growled.
You whined lightly, a conflicted expression working its way through your features. Your lip pouted and eyebrows furrowed as you looked up at him.
His eyes regarded you hotly, a hand raking down your arm, the other pressing into your hip. "What's it gonna be?"
You tipped your gaze downward in thought, this decision was harder than it should be.
On the one hand, you had so many expectations to uphold, but on the other... his grip felt so nice and firm. You wanted to see what would happen if you followed him down this path of ruin and self-destruction.
Wrinkling your nose cutely, you fought out your decision before finally looking up at him. "Ok."
Leaning in for a kiss you were taken by surprise, Billy's hands wrapping around your waist and flipping you 180 from the passenger's side door and over the hood of the car.
Eyes wide, you winced, hands splaying out on the hood trying to prop yourself upright.
"Billy." you complained, trying to back off the car's nose only to feel his gruff hands hold you in place.
"Nuh uh, Baby." he tittered smoothly, pressing himself over you. His hand sweeping your ponytail aside to place sharp nipping kisses down the nape of your neck.
With denim rubbing on plaid, he ground himself against you. A small huff of pleasure leaving his lips as his hands rucked your skirt up your thighs. The chill spring air tickling bare skin as the material was flipped over the swell of your ass onto your back.
"Oh?" the questioning lilt to his voice made your head lift, looking back at him. "Do you wear these all the time?"
His palm ran smoothly down a bare cheek and then the other, fingers hooking into the thin line of material running betwixt them. Rubbing the red thong between his thumb and forefinger.
A sharp slap hit your skin, making you gasp in audible surprise.
Another cutting slap to other cheek, ripping a drawn out whimper from your lips.
"C'mon, Good girl. Answer me." he chided, with two more short slaps. His hand winding in your waistband and slowly pulling down. "Are you a slut for everyone?"
Whining childishly, you craned your neck to look at him. "No, I'm not." you ground out stubbornly, feet stepping from your panties one leg at a time.
He laughed, pocketing your underwear. "That so? Good girl to the end?" he taunted, knuckles traveling back up the length of your thighs. "We'll see."
He took a firm grasp of you. Hands digging into the flesh of your ass, and spreading you. His feet prying your legs apart and setting you wide.
"Billy what're y-?" the question fell flat as a long broad swipe of his tongue hit your cunt from front to back, a lewd whimper caught in your throat.
"Ahhh! Ah!" You simpered, hips slanting to meet his mouth as another thick wet stroke crossed your slit.
The lewd smack of his lips against your pussy as he pulled away briefly. "Something to say, Baby?" He asked innocently, before returning.
His tongue delved between your folds, padding south and rounding your clit in heavy circles before ascending again.
You had nothing to say. Jaw slack, and eyes lolling back lazily with each passing of his tongue. Chuffing out contented sighs like a sated kitten with a saucer of cream.
Shifting his jaw, his tongue flickered across your clit deftly. Lips suckling the bud with delicious pressure, before releasing with a wet pop.
You were squirming under his touch. Soft sighs growing to light panting moans. As his tongue ran up your length to settle heavily at your entrance and prod. His tongue lapping it's way into your hole with each push of his jaw, eventually setting. Tongue wriggling and darting within you before falling flat to lash itself against your clit once again.
"Billy please!" You whined, fingers curling. Looking for any piece of reality to grab hold of.
A deep rumbling growl vibrated through your folds as he pulled away. Strings of spittle connecting you. "Too much already Baby? Maybe you are a Good girl? Is that it?" He mused, fussing with his belt.
"Are you just too good? Can't handle a decent fuck?" He pulled his jeans down, cock springing free to rest on your ass making you shiver at the contact.
Taking his dick in hand he rubbed himself against you. The length dragging up and down your folds. "Which is it Baby?" He asked.
"Please..." you stated simply, panting and breathy.
He arched a begrudging eyebrow, "Please?"
You repeated yourself, voice quivering as you angled you hips high for him.
He laughed low and sultry, teeth flashing as he leaned in on you, picking up on your little game.
"Oh no. No no no." he cooed, tangling a hand in your ponytail and yanking you to his chest. "Use those big fancy words I know they teach you at that preppy school." He baited before releasing you, a hand resting on your ass, thumb stroking the skin.
The stiff crinkle of a wrapper entering the air, followed by a rip.
Tapping his dick against you a couple times, he teased his cockhead at your entrance, pressing just enough for you to feel the stretch only to be removed.
"Good girls use their words at least..." He growled apathetically.
Chest heaving, you gulped in air, trying to focus. "Fuck me. Please." You begged.
"And why should I?" Billy drawled, cock teasing you. Lightly prodding only to withdraw and rub himself against your folds.
"Because..." You swallowed thickly with a shiver "because I'm... not... Not a good girl."
His interest was peaked, dick pushing just a subtle amount further within you. "Are you now?"
"No", you whined pathetically in frustration, "please fuck me. I need you."
He bottomed out without warning. Ripping a loud keen from your chest.
"Fuck!" He snarled, with a snap of his hips. "Tight!"
The pace was brutal from the outset. Billy thrusting into you with sheer force, pressing you harshly against the car. Your feet barely touching the gravel, each stroke forcing you higher onto the hood.
Trying to steady yourself, you threw your hands out, palms sliding with a sweaty squeal across the metal. "Billy! Gah, ahhh!" you moaned, losing your balance.
A thick hand seized your ponytail, fingers entangling and jerking you back. Pulling you upright as his thrusts hit deeper, sending beats of eye popping pleasure through you. Guttural moans mixing with thick rasping grunts at each connection.
"Billy!" you whined, your breath hitching in heightened huffs.
A resounding slap hit your ass in response as he pressed his weight on top of you. His strokes growing meaner and impossibly deeper. His hand coiling around your hip toward your core, fingering your folds searching.
You arched into his touch when he grazed it, a strangled moan tumbling from your throat. The rough pad of his finger swiping over it again, his hips pressing snugly up against yours. Burrying himself in you to the fullest extent possible and putting tears in your eyes.
He stilled. "Are you a good girl?" he asked, voice gruff and husky.
You tried to push away from him. Anything to get even just a half inch between you, it was so overwhelming. "N-no." you whimpered brokenly.
"Then what are you?" he hummed, hand tugging your ponytail back. Cranking your neck until you looked up at him.
You blinked up at him, wide-eyed and doll like. A rut of his hips bringing you back to focus on your task.
"What. Are. You?" he commanded.
"Dirty." you concluded, with a mewl.
He growled, hand freeing your hair and locking around your neck. Drawing you up close.
"Damn fuckin right." he replied with a deep grunt, withdrawing and thrusting back, making you cry out.
Holding you close, his fingers pressed down hard on your clit, your legs beginning to shake.
"Billy please!" you begged, hands clutching at him. Any part you could take hold of.
"Say it..." he grated, hips faltering, hand wrapped around your throat.
"m.. your ... " you wailed, knees starting to buckle. Your world was starting to spin. You could feel that thin threshold about to give way. "your dirty girl." you choked out with each thrust.
With one final deep stroke, you came. Practically bawling. Tears beginning to twinge your cheeks as Billy's thrusts began to waver.
"Fuck..." he bit out, lips finding purchase on your shoulder. His hips stuttering and legs stiffening with a long drawn groan. "Fuuuuuuuck, my dirty girl."
Placing a kiss at the base of your neck he pulled out. You whined sullenly at the deprivation, before pushing yourself back onto both feet and standing.
Reaching skyward with a stretch, you rolled out your shoulders and began straightening yourself out. Retucking your shirt and smoothing your cardigan, you flipped your skirt back into place. "Billy, where're my panties?" you asked.
Zipping his fly, he looked out the corner of his eye at you. "You're not getting those back."
"Why not?" you gaped at him.
Slinging his arms around you he drew you in and kissed you. Lips pert and demanding, before pulling away.
"Because," he said, "Dirty girls don't need them."

Oh my god the Mandalorian s3 decisions being a push to make Bo Katan more marketable for women makes so much sense.
I’ve been watching the flames of season 3 for afar wondering what possibly possessed them to sideline the wildly popular duo of Din and Grogu in favor of this Bo Katan stuff, aside from the obvious future content advertisement… it’s because it’s popular with women…
Like it’s a known pattern that corporations hate when something they’ve created aimed at men is disproportionately popular with women because they strive to keep a very distinct line between Boy things and Girl things. Anything Star Wars is for men, except the acceptable Girl Things like Leia and Padme and Asoka. But then the Mandalorian became wildly popular with women and they can’t just cancel a cash cow like the Mandalorian without milking everything they can from it so they’re like “well let’s bring in Bo Katan she’s for the Women now start making the toys”
Tumblr media
I am so late to this but that meant time to simmer and seethe over Disney's decisions before and lately, and things I've read over the years about how corporations market to their target audiences, and how little things have changed.
I saw rumors and theories that KKKennedy (y'all sorry I keep calling her that but iykyk) meddled a LOT with The Mandalorian and Jon even threatened to quit, but at the end of the day the Mouse House has the final say and we're stuck with their decisions. I really don't know how the final numbers will look, how it'll affect their merch sales, and what it means for the future seasons of The Mandalorian. Maybe the hard pivot to redeem Bo-Katan for the bajillionth time will be the new cash cow or the canary in the coal mine (for The Mandalorian; I'm sure Ahsoka will be a hit no matter what). Maybe they gambled right or they've lost too many viewers who wanted Din and Grogu to be the heart and soul and center of this particular show. It's called The Mandalorian after all. If they want to claim that it could be any Mandalorian who's The Mandalorian of these season, then maybe Season 2 should've followed a different Mandalorian and established this before scamming us with Season 3. They were already trying that with TBOBF before having Din and Grogu steal the show.
But now that I've seen those rumors and theories, I could not fucking stop thinking about what happened when the ST was rolling out and when Rogue 1 and Solo came out. I could not stop thinking about the casting choices for Rey, Jyn, and Qi'ra, could not stop thinking about how white and brunette they were. I could not stop thinking about KKKennedy and others talking about how they wanted to bring more female fans to Star Wars, acting like Star Wars was exclusively a male space, which, what a fucking insult. I could not forget pictures of her wearing "The Force is Female" shirts and pushing this message so fucking hard that it would keep showing up in critical reviews of TLJ/TROS/ST as proof that Disney didn't know what it was doing.
Rey, Jyn, and Qi'ra were lucky to not have the kind of long history that Bo-Katan already had in the gffa by the time she made her live-action debut. It didn't take much to google her involvement in TCW and Rebels, and see what she'd done. I've seen commenters say she redeemed herself in Rebels by rallying the Mandalorians but are you sure about that? Are we still having trouble with writing redemption arcs after the fucking horrible one Disney put Kylo Ren through to the detriment of every other character not named Rey?
I wouldn't have minded Bo-Katan having greater involvement in Season 3 if she didn't basically take charge of not just the COTW but also the entire show. Watch out for the new merch of her with the Darksaber now. Probably the most we'll get out of Din is whatever happens to him in the season finale because Disney gotta make more money, amirite? Grogu got a new accessory so that Disney can sell new versions of him, so why not Din?
I truly envy the poeple who are having a good time or don't need to have these thoughts constantly in their heads while watching. I didn't have a good time and I can never turn those thoughts off. I don't have the luxury so I'm never shutting up about this.
ftr I unfollowed Okiro after the billionth time he called Din, Grogu, and Bo-Katan "Clan of Three". what the fuck had she done to earn equal footing?
