I feel like Jamie has bad anxiety (caused by his adhd and his father)

Like he’s good and great 90% of the time but those days he’s not it’s pretty bad.

We saw a glimpse of it in the spin and flapping hands clips I think it goes deeper then that.

He gets in his head and when he fucks up he instantly thinks of all the ways it was preventable and then he just keeps thinking of all the things he’s fucked up over the years and then suddenly he’s crying curled in a ball on his bathroom floor wishing his mom could hold him.

He works through a lot of it with his therapist, about feeling like he’s always going to let someone down, or always going to fail some invisible test that only he’s put in place.

Roy also helps but more in a “wtf of course you couldn’t of magically fucking predicted how that kick was going to go it’s not your fucking fault.”

And Roy has also learned holding onto one of Jamie’s wrists and squeezing it makes him calm down quite a bit

these are characters where i don’t necessarily have enough concrete evidence to make a full post about each of them, but nonetheless there is definitely a case to be made for them being autistic, so here is a quick list

keeley: blunt, special interest in fashion/pr stuff, has a preconceived/scripted idea of what relationships are Supposed To Be Like, “i like the light and the absence of smells,” possible meltdown after her fight with roy in 2.7, masking masking masking

beard: special interest in chess, meltdowns (most notably when his phone dies in beard after hours), struggles with social cues, expresses himself in ways that don’t always make sense to others, either speaks in a monotone or a full shriek (or doesn’t speak at all) there is no in between

sharon: difficulty processing emotions, focuses on order and routine, awkward/uncomfortable in social situations, special interest in psychology/therapy, intellectualizes emotions and relationships bc she doesn’t understand them, just has The Vibe

higgins: not good with social cues, possible hyperempathy, declarative memory with birthdays, doesn’t always know how to connect with people, also just has The Vibe

Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Waterson I don't know which volume, we owned a lot when I was growing up, but my dad would read them to me and my sister, and he would do voices. It made reading the hamster huey and the gooey kablooey comic very meta. The irony is I was very much a Susie growing up, and now I am nearly ideologically identical to Calvin. I did like the jokes, but also I just really liked Hobbes because he was a tiger.

Are you still planning to do recaps for volume 9? I was rewatching the volume and always like to read your recaps, since they're quite insightful. I found out you haven't done any more after E4. I totally get if you don't have time (like you said in an earlier ask) or don't want to (rewatching V9 reminds you how awful it really was).

I am! If anyone still believes it at this point lol. It's 100% a time/focus issue, rather than a lack of interest. My attention turned very strongly towards Ted Lasso for a time and I wanted to finish my meta on the finale before prioritizing RWBY. Unfortunately, my mind has decided it's now in mush mode and has been struggling to write anything of late, let alone multiple, overly-long recaps.

However, just last night I came across StimuWrite and I'm super excited to give it a shot. I don't have ADHD, but I'm a big proponent of gamification when writing gets too hard and sometimes just changing how I go about writing for a time can make a big difference. The newness of changing apps, or moving to handwriting, can sometimes kick my writers block to the curb. So we'll see if this gets me anywhere tonight! :D

Currently Watching: I've honestly been just rewatching stuff lately because I'm in kind of a lull with tv shows. Sometimes watching new shows gives me anxiety ( I am a strange person I know lol), and I have been avoiding watching the last season of Ted Lasso because I know I'm going to be sad. But I have been just putting on Catfish in the background anddddd I did watch the first episode of Heartstopper s2 today (I am trying to be slow with it because but I want to binge it so bad).

Currently Reading: I love books, but I haven't read like a physical one in so long. Like I am stuck in the fan fiction cycle. I am honestly not complaining, some of the fan fiction is top tier and are better than a lot of books, just if anyone was expecting a book published for money? well the last one I attempted to read was 'My Dark Vanessa' which was really good by very triggering so I had to put it down for a bit. I try to. The last handful of months have been stressful and I haven't been responding much. Or posting much. :(

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I haven't published any fics with an angsty ending. Angst in the middle, with a happy ending, is my preferred formula for comfort reads/writes. And fanfic is about comfort for me right now.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I haven't finished the Year of the Crush yet, but its ending is going to be very happy. Though they're all happy.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! The TL fandom is the best.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. So far I've posted one m/m smut fic, but I will add f/f to that repertoire in the next six months. (And post more m/m that I've written. And there's a possibility of a threesome.)

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I'm bi and have ADHD, so I don't like to make decisions and have a poor memory. I'm into Ted/Trent in a way I haven't been into a pairing in years. My favorite canon ship of all time is Eleanor/Chidi from The Good Place. (And I was into Drarry for such a long time it would win if this was by minutes or words read, but I don't fuck with jkr anymore even in fandom.)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I plotted out a Ted Lasso mystery AU, and wrote about a scene of it, and probably won't do anything else with it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm pretty good at writing dialogue. I know I can capture growing fondness through a character's narration (or close 3rd person).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I don't describe places or people's appearances enough. And I'm not sure how much to bring those elements in throughout a piece of writing. (My imagination is only semi-visual, and I think conversationally in words; this is a big part of 16 and 17.)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Haven't done it. Well, I have a faint memory of there being a notebook somewhere with a character speaking Italian... Mostly, I think it has to make sense for that character to know and be speaking the language. I'd do it in the right context.

Ted Lasso hcs bc I have so many....

Ted is autistic. There are zero allistic explanations for anything he does.

He also has ADHD

He's bi (I mean obviously) and he's known for a while. He just says he's straight bc he thinks it's easier to say that than to explain bisexuality to straight people who just don't get it.

Trent had no idea he was bi and is shocked to find out Ted has dated men.

Has body image issues (I love making fictional characters have all my problems)

Gets diagnosed with autism later in life. Everything starts to make a lot more sense to him after his diagnosis.

He snores in his sleep and is a blanket hog. The snoring doesn't bother Trent bc he also snores.

Kinda canon but he hates being angry. Like if he is angry at someone he feels like the worst person alive.

Also somewhat canon but he's an alcoholic. He starts working on it in therapy.

Legally adopts Trent's daughter. Ted loves her so much it kind of scares him at first.
