I was going to wait till December to share this poll, but so many Christmas decorations are popping up everywhere that I already have the spirit and can't wait anymore.
If you grew up with the classic Rankin/Bass animated Christmas specials – both stop-motion and traditional animation – which one is your favorite?
Universal has teamed up with Warner Brothers Studious and is releasing a collection with EVERY Christmas special they ever made (yes, even the obscure ones. It’s about $50-$60 on Amazon (but Walmart has it for cheaper with a longer wait)
It’s been years since we’ve gotten any news like this so it’s super exciting that we’re finally getting FED.
A lone poor child, with only his beloved drum to play, joins with the Magi, the Wisemen of the East following a star, to find the Christ Child. While they presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, the drummer boy had only his song to play; a song that brought happiness to Child’s face! A with that, a great blessing to the Drummer Boy, for he gave all he could for the King of Kings!
“Blessed are the pure of heart: for they shall see God.”-Matthew 5:8
(Contains little to no spoilers if you don't look into this deeply.)
It's Christmas, and many Omori fans know what that means - it's the third anniversary of the game release!
Happy anniversary, Omori (the game)!
I drew Omori (the character) as the Little Drummer Boy mainly because of many characteristics, details, and some stories of the latter that fit the former character.
I even designed Omori's drum like a piano just for him! (he is a piano, after all)
One thing that I find interesting being particularly removed from American ideals and traditions surrounding Christmas (my grandmother is an Anglican priest), is that I have never once listened to The Little Drummer Boy. I have caught references to it, and I've always found it really weird that Americans go on about this kid with a drum in the nativity scene who just doesn't exist in my mental image. Totally absent, not there in the slightest, a fabrication of some songwriter in the 40s.
Today is a sad day for holidays. Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass, partners in time who helped create so many timeless Christmas memories. Legends in their field, but now in a better place. Rest in peace Jules, and rest in peace to you too Rankin. May every day in the great beyond be as magical as Christmas itself. 🎅🏻⛄🎄🦌
