the steam deck oled feels impossible

it has a storage upgrade(double!), bigger battery, bigger screen size, an oled screen, another antenna, support for wifi 6e, a6nm chip instead of a 7nm, 90Hz instead of 60Hz, a small case with another bigger more protective case for the case, its LIGHTER, HDR SUPPORT(people just started working on HDR support for linux like 6 months ago). and its the SAME SIZE!! WITHOUT A PRICE CHANGE!!!

AND THAT’S NOT EVEN CONSIDERING HOW EASY AND OPEN THEY ARE WITH UPGRADING AND REPAIRING

i’ve been using the steam deck for like 4 months now, and around 1.5-2 months of these i’ve used it exclusively. THE STEAM DECK IS AWESOME.

AND VALVE MADE IT BETTER!!!

if you’re considering buying one DO IT!! the 256GB model is the original steam deck so you won’t get all the upgrades, but its for the same price as what used to be the 128GB! they just straight up doubled your storage.

Is the Steam Deck appealing to you?

I was kind of on the fence for a while. It sounded like it had problems, but it sounds like as Valve keeps updating the software, and more of my friends talk about how much they enjoy having one, and my current PC shows more and more of its age... yeah. I think I'd enjoy having one.

It would also put me in an interesting position where I could probably get a lot more stable video capture from a Steam Deck in some circumstances, because I could spit HDMI video out on that thing into the capture card on my desktop PC. There'd be no more worrying about OBS or Shadowplay or whatever causing potential stuttering.

I've also just been in search of some kind of emulation handheld or something for many years now. I love the Anbernic I got a couple years ago, but every now and then I rub up against its limitations with more complex games (SuperFX stuff on SNES, Saturn, Dreamcast and N64 games, etc.) and it bums me out.

Hearing the Steam Deck can handle something like Dolphin and maybe even PCSX2 is very exciting to me.

Valve has announced Steam Deck OLED, a new version of Steam Deck with an OLED display. It will launch on November 16, 2023 in 512 gigabyte and one terabyte variants for $549.99 and $649.99, respectively. A limited edition one terabyte variant will also be available for $679.99.
