Night Light

A story about a curious little three inch tall fairy, whose wings and hair are black, a color the other fairies had never seen before. Varazae needs a name for his sister and I think I got it

Those are names I've been suggested that fit the most (I kept yours bc I liked it but it didn't fully fit so I needed something to blend it with...)...now gimme opinion once I mishmash them:

But tbh Voreva I immediately read it as Vore eva, so I feel like it's never gonna be pronounced properly. I do like how it's supposed to be pronounced tho. Maybe alternate the way it's spelt?

Otherwise I do really like Reva as a stand alone. Not a common name :3

Here's the cat!

Varazae Jackyl (Vara):

He is half cat beastling, half sprite. Basically a beastling is an anthropomorphic animal with hands and feet and stuff. His mom was the cat beastling. Sprites don't have a solid gender though, they are mainly forest creatures that usually have kids differently. But they can decide to be human and along with it choose a gender...so his dad is the sprite. The sprite became male in order to have kids but will sometimes switch just because they can...and it keeps people from knowing he married a beastling.

A forest creature bonding with a beast person is so incredibly rare, and their children surviving even less so. Vara was sick when he was young. He grew up with a body that couldn't handle how much magic he had. All he had to do was run or climb and he'd suddenly be coughing blood, sometimes end up in bed with a fever after too. This is because a beastling can't use magic. They have abilities, but those are different. Mainly they have physical enhancements. Sprites are made of magic. See why their kids don't usually survive when they mix?

Around 12 this settled down though and his body started being strong enough to hold his extreme amounts of magic. He can grow his own garden in his room and learned to cook because of it. When fighting he uses either smooth or thorned vines. Also...sprites control plants and all that, but they also use illusion magic and can communicate with plants to a degree. He uses illusion magic to hide that his hands and feet match what a beastling may have...and the talking to plants is how he finds Irza.

Because he has such great cat hearing mixed with the ability of the sprites (super rare combo) he can actually hear what they say from a distance. When Irza uses his shadow, the plants sometimes scream or whisper nonsense about omens. Though bc he can hear plants, think about the fact he'll pick flowers sometimes.

He is a kind person and pretends to be a beastman so he doesn't get in trouble. Beastmen sometimes have magic so he convinced them he was just a rare case. His hero name is Quickvine. He is terrified of the villain Voidshire, but he still tracks him down to confront him bc that's his job...and bc something is wrong with this. He has seen Voidshire save people in the middle of fights, mainly children who get caught up in it that a hero's attack endangers. He has also noticed that compared to other villains, this guy kills a lot less in every confrontation, he focuses on only who's attacking him and leaves everyone else alone. Vara pays attention. So he tries to talk to the villain many times.

Though when Voidshire starts messing with him it creeps him out at first. He just thinks he's gonna be killed before too long and the villain is dragging it out. Still...he sees there's hidden hurt inside this scary man and wants to help him.

Vara doesn't hate anyone. He just thinks that some people locked their hearts in a cage and either no longer have a key, or hid it. With Ezephr...he thinks this guy destroyed the key, so you can never reach his heart, but he does have one. Vara is an amazing person and the only thing that could tame Irza.

I've got a hero/villain pair...

One of the drawings is really old but it's the only one I have of him in his usual clothes. I gave civilian and disguised examples for both?

Idk about a scenario but the cat hero is very kind and doesn't like hurting others while the villain is constantly messing with him bc he likes the hero

Side note? The villain guy, the half dragon, only changes his hair and eyes from being black and gold to white and red I just wanted to experiment with colors. He's also got scales on his neck, wrists, and cheeks...I also gave the simplest villain outfit I have for the one guy

Special Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day brick!

Here's the story that goes with that picture I drew for you!

Word Count: 1.3k

The day typically would have been seen the same as any other, but on this particular slow morning a certain disguised hero was already having the time of his life. Like usual, he'd woken up way before his roommate had and was already in the kitchen tending to their breakfast and a secret snack he was making specifically for this day. He laughed to himself as he took and spun a few times while mixing the dough up, humming in delight at the particularly powerful strawberry smell. His ears stayed poised to listen for his roommate unlocking the door, hoping the smell of food would lure him out somehow. With that thought in mind, he sped up, moving quickly as he pieced together the treats out of that dough and got them on pans, then in the oven.

He dusted his hands off before sneaking over to the hallway the other's bedroom was in, standing out of sight around the corner as he heard movement from inside. He grinned and pressed his back up against the wall in an attempt to remain fully hidden, keeping his squirming tail behind him so it wouldn't give him away. The ambush was complete when the door clicked, pure silence followed as his roommate listened to the silence suspiciously, then the smallest sigh and movement. He found it strange that he could never hear them walking, but the slight shift of the scales on that long tail was enough to give it away.

The instant his roommate stepped to the corner, the cat leapt out at him with a playful roar and latched onto the much taller man. Like always, he was immediately growled at as the dragon, Irzayn, glared at him and started trying to pry him off. "Will you stop doing that?! Get OFF!" He was trying and failing to pull the smaller man off and it was only agitating him even further.

Varazae laughed merrily and eventually shoved himself away from Irzayn, narrowly missing the irritated swipe of sharp claws. The dragon never really hurt him even when it did connect, but he didn't feel like having another shirt torn. "But why not? You're not even awake when you come out of there! You are now!" His tail wiggled slightly from entertainment and he hurriedly spun around to dash back towards the kitchen after receiving a murderous look. "You can't kill me! I'm the cook!"

Irzayn narrowed his eyes but gave in with a grumble, lazily heading to the couch and sitting down, turning on the TV. It was immediately showing news of a recent bloodbath that ended with the hero's loss, and the escape of Voidshire. They both watched the TV, but with different thoughts. Varazae felt rather…depressed over that fight. He had also taken part in it but for some reason kept being the only one left unharmed against that villain. Irzayn, however, felt extremely annoyed that they were blaming the bombs on him and that he hadn't gotten that artifact without getting hurt. He was still sore from it, one reason he never liked being jumped on.

The two did their normal activities, Irzayn watching the news while Varazae fussed in the kitchen. He wanted this to be a masterpiece, and judging from the lovely smell floating from the oven and how the dragon kept glancing over impatiently, he figured he'd gotten it down pretty good. With a flourish, he got the treats out of the oven and set on the stove to cool down some. The especially strawberry flavored cookies sizzled further on the hot pan as they finished and the cat smirked, wondering if he should mess with them. He doubted Irzayn knew what day it was.

He gave a nod after a little more before he playfully called out, "I'm all done!" He had to hold back a snicker when he heard the other get up so quickly. Irzayn always did like strawberries, so he guessed this much was natural. Even so, he waited for the tall dragon to enter his kitchen before grinning up at him. That blank, tired, annoyed, and unbothered gaze was all he got in return, like usual. He hummed in thought as those strikingly unique golden eyes drifted towards the pan of cookies. "...do you know what day it is?"

Successfully, that yanked those amazing eyes right back to him. "...why? It's just Tuesday—" He was cut off when the tiny cat stood on his toes and his hand shot out, hooking Irzayn's neck to yank him down lower so their faces were closer. His eyes went wide and he yelped, "Vara—"

A finger touched his lips and the cat looked serious for a few moments, before the gaze softened and he gave a sweet smile. "It's Valentine's Day. I made you cookies, don't you have something for me?" He really didn't think the dragon would, but he wanted to mess with him some. He was met with a long stare before it turned more annoyed than anything. What he didn't expect was for the dragon to nod and reach into his pocket. "What…?" Vara's eyes widened when he caught sight of a little charm, one that you'd hang on your bag. It was a little kitten playing with a croissant and…to be honest Vara had no clue where he could have found something so weird.

But once it registered he gasped and dove for it, reluctantly pulling his finger away from Irzayn's surprisingly soft lips as he tried to get the charm. But Irzayn held it out of reach above his head as he stood back up, frowning for a long few moments before allowing a smirk. Varazae proceeded to growl, his tail flicking in agitation. "What? You expect me to give it to you after what you did? You haven't even paid me yet—"

Vara promptly shoved a cookie in Irzayn's mouth, watching the dragon double over and cough, having nearly choked on it. The cat snatched the charm from his suffering roommate and stuck out his tongue at Irzayn. "Thanks Irza! Hope you liked you're cookie~!"

Irza proceeded to give him a glare, still clutching the counter and trying to breathe, but pushing himself back up and finishing the cookie properly. Even he couldn't hide how his long scales tail wiggled happily. "Shoving it down my throat is not a nice way to trade."

Vara shrugged and grabbed a cookie before bolting so he could avoid being grabbed. "You're the one who started messing with me!" He always found it hilarious how angry Irzayn's face could be when his tail gave away what he was actually feeling. The motions were so similar to a cat's that he had no trouble learning the body language either. Now in the living room and out of reach, he spun on his heel and smiled brightly at his counterpart. "Thank you Irza! I mean it! Happy Valentine's Day!"

Irzayn watched him retreat and rolled his eyes, but when Vara spoke again, he couldn't help but stare at the joy on his friend's face, his heart feeling like it skipped a beat. A hand flinched towards his chest as his eyes went wide again, but he turned his head away. In a much quieter voice, he muttered, "...yeah. Happy Valentine's Day…" He didn't know what that feeling in his chest was, or why he felt it with both Quickvine and Varazae, but he'd never admit to it. Just like he'd never say how delicious these cookies were, and how much a precious friend he thought Vara was. Yep. Just another typical morning for the hero and villain pair.

I have a ratatouille au that was talked about a few months ago (that some might not know about) and I only have three sentences written on the document, never got further

So it's unlikely I'll actually manage to write anything for the ratatouille au so I might do bullet points or just accept questions

How about both! It'll follow similarly to the movie but there's some big differences

It's under the cut and hopefully an entertaining read! I haven't bullet pointed a story before so gimme tips too

Basic world things

The world is made differently, wanted them to not be actual animals but maybe a bunch of hybrids

They look part human and have that intelligence but are still animals at their base

Being a hybrid would stop the cat from chasing/hunting the rats and birds that are also hybrids

The amount of hybrid is a little different for each

The humans don't understand them and see them as animals too, they're the size of whatever animal they're based off

Character things

Varazae is a mouse hybrid raised by rats in the suburbs (forest like area in this case outside the city) who, like the rat in ratatouille, loves food

He's an outcast for being a mouse but also for liking and doing strange things

A few accidents lead him to be swept through drains to the middle of nowhere in a way too big city

He ends up in a kitchen for a restaurant that needs help and can't resist tampering with some of the food

Irzayn is a new hire in the restaurant that only went there because his mom insisted and there weren't a lot of openings near his home for a job

He lives together with his mom in a tiny apartment

Doesn't take long after being hired for him to notice a tiny mouse standing on the edge of a pot

It was a curious sight, seeing as it wasn't jumping in or anything, more like it kept putting things in it

Irza always wants things to be done quietly with as little attention as possible, so he catches the mouse before it becomes a problem

Vara wasn't expecting the strange, always silent human to suddenly lunge for him without a word or sound

Deciding what to do with the mouse is hard and sneaking out to get rid of it unnoticed is even harder

Irza isn't really that emotional/empathetic, so convincing him to spare Vara would be a chore and a half

For now I'll drop it off there bc I want questions, lots of questions!! Pleeeeeeeeease spam me even if you're an anon, always spam

He'd probably shove the hero in one of his pockets without a word...but try to help

As for the hero...Varazae is terrified of this villain and would probably think he's going to die now

how were you going to have it that irza changes his mind????? how badly does he scare varazae before he changes & how long does it take for varazae to trust him

It's roooooooooooose

Ok! So I was thinking along the lines that Vara tries desperately enough to get his attention that Irza acknowledges him instead of just ignoring the mouse. This'll tie into your scare question too bc I'll say Vara does bite Irza at least five times in maybe thirty seconds at one point.

I believe that in order to get Irza to not end him or just throw him in a random direction, he'd scramble to escape at first when he's probably dropped after biting Irza...then he'd be mad and chase the mouse, but pay more attention to the fact that he can actually read clear emotions (and also that the thing used tricks to get away while being chased) on the tiny thing's face when he finally catches Vara again. I think Irza would hesitate to hurt the mouse in any way at that moment and just set him down somewhere instead and move on.

Obviously, Vara would be absolutely horrified throughout this entire thing...angry giant human chasing him? Yep not on his agenda. But being put back down even tho the guy was still glaring at him would make him way too curious for his own good and he'd proceed to follow the human. Turns this into the mouse being caught and released many times...(see, already another huge difference besides irza not being like the human in the movie)

For trust, I think Vara would give it fast but have reservations. He'd start to trust that this human won't kill him at least, eventually that he won't get hurt by the human. It would take maybe helping the mouse or saving him for Vara to truly trust Irza instead of simple no harm trust...gotta say, he's a bit reckless and would push his limits a lot with Irza at the beginning, and even more so when eventually becoming friends...

Normally they wouldn't understand each other, but sometimes words are overrated

Vara's names for Irza:

No-one calls Irzayn anything but his full name "Irzayn" or by his last name "Heron". Vara is the only one who calls him "Irza" and the other names are: "grump", "lazy"...will a lot of times tell him to be happy or smile bc he looks so angry. Like imagine him leaning over to whisper "you're glaring again". Just keep in mind that Vara adapts his and uses them only when they're relevant. They'll also argue over something stupid but end it pretty quickly, sometimes bc Irza stops talking...which will prompt other name calling, but he does not even remotely cuss unless he's mad.

As a hero he calls Voidshire "Ghosty" bc he's quiet and vanishes

Irza's names for Vara:

So much easier to think of bc while Vara is nice and adapts the nicknames to their situation, Irza sticks to his unless it's banter. "Varazae", rarely "Vara", "cat", "weirdo", "pest", and "kitcat" if he's messing with Vara. His doesn't really adapt, you can guess where some come from. Most are him calling for Vara, really. He really will call for the cat boy with them more than he'll use it in a conversation.

As a villain he calls Quickvine "Viney" bc he's not exactly extremely creative.

I gave the hero and villain nicknames too bc after finding out about each other they mix those nick ames constantly regardless of who they're being...which in a g/t situation you could still use. Whether it's shrinking or a borrower situation, still usable.

Prompt: Get Rid of It

It truly did startle him when something small scrambled out right in front of him, but not so much as the following shouts of, "Get rid of it! Kill it!" He himself never liked harming a creature that was innocent...especially when it was so humanoid. His hands darted out and he snagged the small person, just holding them in his cupped hands as he saved looking at them for later.

Sneaking out, he rushed away from the still panicking crowd and hoped his gloves weren't smothering them. It didn't take all too long for him to find a nice and isolated area to check on them, only to be even more surprised. It looked exactly like a human! But...they had a long, spiked tail that whipped around frantically as the black haired boy in his hands struggled to get out, hissing and apparently spitting curses like they were his prayer. Despite himself, he laughed a little, quietly saying, "It's okay...I'll take care of you."

It had been a very long time since then, and it was just like Varazae to be in the kitchen cooking. The tiny dragonoid, Irzayn as he'd been known to be called, sat patiently out of the way and stared at the cat man, unhappy but not entirely complaining either. As Vara danced and had fun, Irza couldn't help but feel his tail tap to the rhythm, but he had to contain himself from jiggling all over to dance alongside the hero.

Irzayn was acting like it was the most HORRIFYING thing he'd ever seen and Varazae, even though he was dressed as a hero, found himself going close just because of that. He smirked and picked one up, feeling the tiny scramble inside his hood as the hero snickered, "It's just a bunny!"

Irzayn fixed him with a highly unamused glare before he promptly spat out, "You're an a** and you know it, you stupid f****** cat! It's a messenger of Satan! They eat their own children! NO DON"T BRING IT CLOSER PUT IT DOWN! NO I DON'T WANT TO SAY HI!"

EQUALLY AS GOOD I'D SAY!!! AGHH
