me everytime I am preparing a meal with multiple elements I have to balance so they all finish cooking at the same time: Wow this is just like the 2009 hit Nintendo Wii game 'Food Network: Cook Or Be Cooked'

#or like if I'm making two things and one finishes cooking before the other and has to sit there and get cold #in my brain it's always like 'tsk tsk.. they would deduct points from my score for that' hjhjb #one of those instances of game mechanics imprinting onto your brain. kind of like imagining sims interaction moodlets in irl conversations #i LOVE the game though it's so fun. I've never even heard of it before I just found it by the dumpster in a box of other old wii #games someone was apparently discarding and picked it up due to my interest in cooking shows and stuff #I like having to time things and all the little actions you can do. though sad that there's so little recipes #you can unlock the whole game in like a day or something. I think if I had more time and social energy to actually talk in forums or be par #of a 'community' - I think looking into the type of stuff where people mod wii games and etc. would be very very cool #Wii is my favorite console and so much of the time I am always like 'grrr.. they dont make new games.. and this one game is very cool #but imagine if these 5 improvments were made to it! it would be SO much cooler!' etc. #Like being able to download new custom recipes/levels for Cook or Be Cooked lol #Modding wii sports resort the same way that some people mod skyrim and build entirely new games out of it #with new quests and etc. Like just.. create your own sports.. RPG mode.. use the already existing archery assets and etc. to have a mode #where you can just free roam around the map shooting at enemies and stuff ghhjbjh #WHICH I WOULD LOVE DEARLY.. #I dont realyl like combat in games but idk I'd make an exception.. whatever.. I just want to play more in the Wii World #I have the soul of one of those people who builds all their own computers and 3D prints custom frames to transplant their 3DS into and #has like all special 'hacked' phones and wii mods and customizes everything and etc. etc. like.. 100% my exact personality and preferences #HOWEVER I just simply do not have the money or physical energy/time to get onto projects like that #The best I can hope for is one day having a close friend who does that so I can maybe use their 3D printer every once in a while or we both #collaborate on some wii modding project or etc. but I just couldn't on my own.. I already have too much stuff going on.. Have to make #compromises due to lack of money + low energy + busy. Like I could never build my own phone. I could save up for a teracube phone #or something so it's better and more repairable than all these dumbass modern phones you cant even take the backs off of. but that's probab #y the best I could do lol. ANYWAY.. Especially wii customization. I could get really into that.. I saw a picture one time of someone who #made like a semi transparent case for theirs kind of like the famous purplish see through gameboy color case but for a wii.. which is.. aAA #yearning crying sobbing etc. etc. so on and so forth

It is truly heartbreaking that Klavier Gavin is one of the few, if not the only characters in current canon who has no meaningful bond with any of the other characters. He loses his brother, twice. He loses his best friend and with him the band that was his entire life for 7 years. And if that wasn't enough, the writers go out of their way to even kill his mentor in AA5. His entire supoort system is gone and he does not get a new one. Sure you could say "What about Apollo?" but in their brief exchange in Turnabout Academy they're not even on a first name basis. Hell, the text implies that they haven't talked to each other since Turnabout Succesion.

Klavier is truly alone but all of the other characters aren't. The defense attorneys obviously have many friendships and bonds with other charachters but so do the prosecutors. Edgeworth has Phoenix, Kay, Sebastian and Franziska. Franziska has Edgeworth. Hell, even Blackquill who is portrayed as abrasive and a loner, who has spent 7 years in jail is shown to not only have Athena but also friends like Bucky Whet. Nahyuta, portrayed as emotionless and resigned to his fate for most of the game not only comes out of it with a mother, uncle and two siblings but also finds a friend in Ema.

But Klavier? Charming, beautiful, legal prodigy, rockstar? He has no one. He is completely alone when he walks into the courtroom. And he is truly alone when he performs on stage. There, in the blinding limelight, surrounded by this crowd of adoring fans who worship the ground he walks on, he finds the lonliest place on earth.

good evening, all. it is May the 25th. our lilacs are blooming, just as the ones at the Watch House did. and I am thinking about remembrance of the fallen, and GNU, and the love in commemoration.

y'know, I read Night Watch… oh, maybe a year ago and some months ago. and the lilac symbolism, the remembrance of the Watch, has always struck me with the depth of the emotion of it, the tangibility of it in the flowers. but I wasn't aware that today was the day until I saw commemorative posts, all that gorgeous artwork and more, on my dash.

I was also not aware, until now, that fans commemorated the day not only because of the book reference, but in support of Terry Pratchett and of those with Alzheimer's. which knocked me over a bit because of course, of course the group that would use GNU to honor him would do that. and… I've been thinking about GNU a lot, lately, and this caught me again.

I read Going Postal a bit ago, and reread it recently. both times, the parts about GNU made me tear up. this idea of the names, the memories, the lives of the clacks workers who dedicated themselves to ensuring that people heard each other's voices—all those names spoken again and again and again by that which they poured their souls into, winging along in the air as they could not, an eternal reminder that they were loved—how could that not touch a person's heart?

when I found out that fans online used it to memorialize him, I damn well cried. hell, I still tear up just thinking about it. do you know, there's a code for an HTTP header "X-Clacks-Overhead: GNU Terry Pratchett" written by Reddit users to put in webpages, where it goes unseen by the average user? and in 2015, when Netcraft took a survey, there were eighty-four thousand websites using it? it's eight years later—how many thousands upon thousands of websites have this now, do you think? how many little cables of light has his name flown along, now? how many times?

that alone is absurdly and unimaginably lovely in its own right, but… there's something else to it. there's something about remembering with the lilac sprigs every year, just as Vimes and those who were there remembered their dead. something about how, when we take up our lilac sprigs, we carry a little piece of the characters in our hearts, too. I kept trying to put my finger on why that makes me tear up the way it does. the conclusion I came to is this:

what greater way to honor a writer is there, but to honor them the way they did the characters they poured their heart and soul into? what better way to say we know you and you are not forgotten and your work and words and gifts to the world are held in our hearts forever than to remember them by their own words, their own vision? how else could we say you embodied all the good you believed in and wished to see in the world, but to memorialize them after the little pieces of their soul they wrapped in ink and put upon the page?

it is a knowing of the writer, to remember them in their way. it is not a worn-out faceless platitude, but a reminder that their work has been read and will continue to be, that the characters and world they loved enough to bring to life last just as their name does. such remembrance is warm and loving and delights in their memory even as it grieves.

and now Pratchett's name has been written in his tradition, over and over and over, across the vast plane of the Internet, where it will—with any luck—continue to fly for generations to come.

there is no way to truly express the beauty of that… but perhaps we can catch a glimpse of it in the lilacs, both ours and the Watch's.

it's such a shame that sophia as a character is so reliant on keeping everything about her a mystery until.... literally the last chapter, because it makes her a lot weaker as.... one of the main characters. she's intended to have the same level of importance as geppetto in the narrative, however, in execution..... you can't really get invested in her because she doesn't really offer anything meaningful to you until the very end, and by then it feels a little too little too late. (and so much of it is wrapped around simon's plotline, which i have already expressed i don't really care for.)

i think it's why i try to make a bigger deal of things like the hermit's cave, or the thing about being a listener being "the devil's power", according to sophia's mother. these bits show her as an existing part of the setting she's in, and not as the walking Big Reveal set-up she... kind of is, honestly.

sophia is meant to be p's guide through his growing humanity, a counterpoint to geppetto, and i wish more was done with it!!!

Thelma smiled up at him, a darling sort of smile, the type that lit up half the room, so genuinely happy that Matthew decided whatever happened in the next hour - no matter how disastrous and or embarrassing - it would be worth it for that smile on his sister’s face.
