Maui Part #3, Waihee Ridge Trail & Nakalele Blowhole
Since Maui is a hikers paradise, it was time to go a hike! We decided to do the Waihee Ridge Trail, a trail with beautiful views of the mountains and the cost in the West Maui Natural Area Reserve. And what should we say – it was pouring cats and dogs this morning. We started our hike anyway and were confident that the rain will decrease. Let’s say it that way: we were right for the way back, but the rain didn’t stop for the entire ascent. So, unfortunately the mountains were covered in clouds and fog, and the trail became more and more slippery and muddy. But, we were rewarded on the descent and enjoyed the stunning views of the ocean and green scenery. On our way back, we also stopped at the Nakalele Blowhole.

Tag 13 (7.5.22)

Waihe’e Ridge Trail || Our 4th Hawaii hike, but first in Maui. This trail looks like a famous one- although we had an early start so we did not come across a lot of hikers on the way up.
Tumblr media
We’ve been warned that this is a *difficult* trail- 6.2 kms roundtrip at 479 m elevation- but we did not expect the difficulty to start just going up the paved (PAVED!) road to the actual trailhead. It was steep, y’all.
Tumblr media
Such a gorgeous view of the ridges going up, and our water breaks were boosted by the beautiful ocean views. If you can read this and are thinking about doing it sometime- pack on some sunscreen cause you’re going to need it. There’s not very much shade so the sun is beating down on you the whole way up... and it can be really excruciating especially since we underestimated our water supply for this hike.
Tumblr media
It took us about 2.5 hrs to traverse the trail round trip, and although it was such a glute-burner, J thought it would be harder than it looked.
Tumblr media
Check on the upper-right hand side of the picture and you *should* spot two waterfalls from the distance!
Tumblr media
And a very well-deserved sand-on-my-toes and beer-on-my-hand session by the beach post-hike ☺

Conquered the #waiheeridgetrail hike with @cervenafox ! This trail is by far one of my most favorite hikes that I’ve ever done. The Waihee Ridge Trail had a nice element of danger hiking right on the edge of some scary cliffs and took the trail took us all the way up into the clouds! #hikelife #hike #hiking #maui #hawaii (at Waihe'e Ridge Trail) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQMWS-HrAk/?igshid=70867dwmaksk
