Wanna play a game? It’s called “How Many Ways TWN Has Messed Up”
It’s easy to play. You just list the biggest misstep you can think of. Unfortunately there is no winner. Only losing.
Replaced the LEAD
Geralt and Jaskier’s mountain fallout
Yennifer trying to sacrifice Ciri
Jaskier not aging over the course of decades
Vesemir trying to mutate Ciri
Eskel was a huge prick
Lambert was not
Eskel cosplayed Groot then died
Wolves ate the Grootskel instead of the usual funeral pyre
Only four Wolf Witchers remain. Who are all these people?
Coen isn’t a Griffin
Roach is a bay mare. Why does he have a black stallion(?)?
Kaer Morhen is very hard to get to and only the Witchers know the way. Unless they’re hosting a very drunken hooker party, because who cares about consent?
Please, feel free to continue on.

Blood (Whumpuary Prompt 10)
Tumblr media
Part 2 (Part 1: Magical Healing see my previous post)
Yes, a lot more work to do. Triss sighs again, then straightens. The cut in the knight's face, albeit ugly as hell and sure to scar, is not lethal and can wait some more. What cannot wait, however, is the tremendous loss of blood. It pretty much amounts to a miracle that the man is still alive in spite of it. Unfortunately, magically replenishing blood takes time, which they definitely do not have. A blood transfusion then, but the only non-mutated human here besides the healer is Ciri, and Triss herself is out of the question as she will need all her strength to perform the spells that would keep the blood from clotting. Will one donor be enough? Ciri is tough, but not exactly tall and bulky. Half a litre absolute maximum, hardly sufficient to significantly raise the odds of survival. More like a drop in the bucket. Well, surely better than nothing. Triss turns around with a frown.
Vesemir is sitting on the chair in the corner, his bad leg propped up on a three-legged stool. The complicated fracture he sustained two weeks ago slipping on some iced-over steps in the courtyard, the actual reason for Triss's presence here at the Witcher keep, is healing nicely, but annoyingly slowly. He can still only hobble around a little on crutches and has to rest the leg as much as possible, which is not exactly agreeing with the old, far too impatient Witcher.
"Where's Ciri?" the healer asks, irritatedly searching the room with her gaze, but there is no trace of the young girl.
"Said, she needed to go back to Geralt and Yennefer, and poof, she was gone. Only that there wasn't really a poof." Vesemir shakes his head in amazement. "After all this time that girl still manages to mystify me."
"Did she say anything about coming back?"
"Nope."
"Bollocks." Triss sighs heavily. There goes her only adequate blood donor. Poof, indeed. What to do now? With no third option available and time running out, she is forced to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea. Either do nothing which will doubtlessly result in the Nilfgaardian's death within the next score minutes tops, or do something really reckless that will, in all likelihood, lead to the very same outcome, just, maybe, postpone the inevitable for a few hours or days. A risky experiment she has not heard of having been done before. As Triss has always been intrigued by experiments to find new, better cures, her natural scientific curiosity is piqued, there is no denying it. However, experiments on alive humans are, of course, unethical and something she would never do. This particular human, though, is bound to die anyway, isn't he? And there is the slight chance that the procedure might save his life. It might be worth a try - and justify an exception to her strict ethical code.
"Coen, I need you to get something from the laboratory for me as quickly as possible, a big silver box with syringes, cannulae and silver tubings. There's a blood rune on the lid. Know what I mean?" The dark-skinned Witcher nods and is already half-way out of the door when Triss turns to Lambert.
"Pass me a clean towel. Then we'll have to put him down on the floor again. And I need two more chairs, one for me and one for you."
"Your wish is my command, Merigold." Smirking ironically, Lambert mimics a bow. "Even though I have no idea what this is about." Nevertheless, for once, he obeys. From a drawer, he gets a towel while Triss inspects the deep gash in the Nilfgaardian's face. If, against all odds, he survives, the man was truly lucky as both the orbital bone next to his right temple and the cheekbone are badly injured, but not his eye. From what she can see under the closed lid and all the blood, it seems to be intact. Eyes can be magically re-grown, of course, but it is tedious work and takes weeks. Months until the complex sensory organ is fully functional. Fixing just the bones will be a lot easier and quicker. Not now, though, now she only means to stop the bleeding with a quick, make-shift dressing. Which is what she needs the towel for, obviously. When, after a few minutes, Triss is done, she signals to Lambert who grabs her deeply unconscious patient's torso and, while the sorceress is holding his legs, lowers him back onto the stone floor. Then he moves two sturdy chairs closer to where the healer is standing next to the injured man. Triss sits down with a tired sigh. Then she smirks up at the red-headed Witcher.
"Thanks to Melitele, I don't need any of your non-existing ideas, Lambert. Just your blood."
"My what? Are you crazy, witch? For that Nilfgaardian?"
"He's Geralt's friend and helped save Ciri, so shut up, sit down on that chair and roll up your sleeve, I need a vein."
"Are you sure, Triss?" Vesemir interjects, frowning. "We're Witchers, mutants, and he's just a human. Our blood will probably kill him."
"I'm aware of the risk, Vesemir. But, I fear, there is no alternative - or do you, by any chance, have a human or two hidden in some secret corner of the keep that I don't know of?"
"Alas, I have not." The old Witcher shakes his head. "Just thinking of Geralt and what he'll say to our little experiment should it turn out to be fatal for his friend - after the mess with Ciri and the Witcher mutagen, I mean." Then a curious glint appears in Vesemir's dark eyes. "Might be interesting to see what'll happen, though, I have often wondered about that, if it might be a way to—"
"Ah, Coen, you found it, that was quick indeed," Triss interrupts the old Witcher, which is not her usual behaviour, no, not at all. However, there is not a minute to be lost. "I'll need your help setting up the apparatus, too. Lambert has kindly volunteered to go first."
"I what?" Lambert splutters. "Fuck you, Merigold, and your apparat— Ouch! What are you doing, witch?"
"Don't be a baby and hold still, the less you thrash around, the less it'll hurt." Admittedly not exactly gently, Triss finishes fastening the tourniquet around Lambert's exposed arm. With deft fingers she then inserts a silver cannula into a prominent vein on the inner side of his forearm.
"And it's apparatus, not apparatouch." Lambert grunts in response, but otherwise holds still and keeps his mouth shut. As he is not a baby. He is rewarded with a swift, albeit unexpectedly sweet smile from the sorceress before she connects a silver tube to the cannula that she then fastens to the weird looking apparatus which Coen has placed next to the Nilfgaardian's arm. Now she only has to insert another cannula into one of the patient's veins, connect it to the bottom part of the apparatus, and then gravity will do the rest. And, not to forget, her anti-coagulation spell. A few minutes later, everything is ready and, following the laws of physics, a steady flow of blood streams through the apparatus from the more or less voluntary Witcher donor to the Nilfgaardian recipient who, due to the severity of his injuries, is not aware at all of the fact, or rather of the experiment. Perhaps it is better like this, too, as the outcome is more than uncertain.
While leaning back in her chair and constantly murmuring the required spells, Triss monitors the procedure closely. She would not want to draw too much blood from Lambert, but a little more than usually advisable might, hopefully, knock the often so annoying Witcher down a peg, at least for a while. When he starts to go really pale in the face, though, she quickly disconnects him from the transfusion device, and now it is Coen's turn. The Nilfgaardian is still unconscious and has not shown any signs of life except for the almost imperceptible movement of his chest as he draws in a far too shallow breath once in a while, but it seems to Triss that he does not look quite as deadly pale anymore. His pulse has become a little steadier and stronger, too, and so far, there have not been any adverse reactions to the Witcher blood. This does not mean much as adverse reactions might still manifest themselves after several hours, even days, however, it is something, isn't it?
After Vesemir has also contributed his share of blood, Triss finally stops the procedure. It is high time, too, as her nose is bleeding profusely and she feels dizzy and totally drained magic-wise. The three Witchers look drained, too, although, in their cases, not due to magical exhaustion but loss of blood. Their, more or less voluntary, sacrifice appears to be crowned with success, though, as the Nilfgaardian looks definitely better now and all his vital signs are much improved. Seems like there is a chance that he might not be going to die - at least not today.
To be continued ...

New Rings of Power cast members (barring Sam Hazeldine whom we know will be taking Adar over from Joseph Mawle) and my guesses (deep desires) on who they might be playing from top left to bottom right; Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour who I am hoping will be Cirdan, Gabriel Akuwudike who GOD I want to be Anarion so badly, Amelia Kenworthy who honestly like.. if they were going to cast Celebrian for this adaptation this is the actress they’d go for she looks even younger than Galadriel by some miracle, Nia Towle who I’m actually going to go ahead and say might be Isildur’s eventual wife? She needs to exist so!, Ben Daniels who might possibly be Narvi and I’m hoping isn’t Celeborn given aforementioned incredibly young looking Galadriel, and lastly Nicholas Woodeson who I suspect might be Amandil? He is a little too old for Amandil to my taste but he’s got a good face so I’ll accept him.

If you’re still up for answering asks, who is your favorite non-Yennefer sorceress and your favorite non-Geralt/non-Ciri Witcher?
I definitely am thank you ♥️
Ok first of all bless you for calling Ciri a witcher. I get soooooo heated when people (usually dudebro types) try to say she isn’t a “real” witcher. My blood pressure just shoots right up Lmao. Ignorant!Incorrect! Demonstrably false!
Anyway. Lol moving on.
Ok I’m going to cheat here and break them up into subcategories.
My favorite non-Yen sorceress
Books: Philippa. She is just so goddamn entertaining. Anytime she’s on the page you gotta grab your popcorn. I mean come on! This woman knows how to give good drama. She schemes, she runs coups and sieges, she starts The Lodge (an International Women’s Republic). She mouths off, she sasses, she makes at minimum one lesbian joke per chapter. She bangs Triss Merigold. She wears mens doublets occasionally and looks hot doing it. She’s got Djikstra with hearts in his fuckin eyes. SHE CAN TURN INTO AN OWL. She doesn’t pretend to be anything other than she is. She’s just so much fun to read about and I enjoy her. And her casting in TWN is fabulous I hope we get to actually see more of her S3.
TWN: Tissaia. I just think Myanna Buring is goddamn outstanding. Her journey is fascinating. She believes in the system. In the brotherhood. But she rebels a bit by the end of S1. I am always fascinated by arcs where someone has their faith in their institutions challenged. Where they are disillusioned and have to break away. So, I want to see more. And seeing her raging and grieving S2 was just electric. And of course her relationship with Yen is the most complex and fascinating relationship in the whole series Imo.
Honorable mention: I love Anna Shaffer as Triss. She’s so beautiful and S2 especially I think she really embodies Triss’s manner and personality.
My favorite non Geralt witcher. (I’m really really gonna cheat here)
Books: Eskel. I can’t even start talking about him or I won’t stop. He’s my baby. Kind, gentle, strong, he is my everything.
TWN: Coën. Yasen Atour is perfection. He captures his sweet spirit. His uncleness. He’s the most handsome witcher, Geralt included.
Games: Lambert. He’s “supposed” to be an asshole? But there he is, being vulnerable. Being funny. Being loyal. Having a tragic backstory and a heart of gold. Game Lambert is the good stuff.
Since I’ve written so much about those three elsewhere I won’t go on and on. But those are my answers ☺️

Not Dead: Chapter 4 - Of Jokes and Stitches
Tumblr media
Febuwhump Prompt: Day 5 - That's gonna scar
Whumpuary Prompt: alt. 1 - Stitches
Fandom: The Witcher
Summary: Cahir only almost dies at Stygga Castle thanks to Yennefer and Ciri. Travelling through space, Ciri takes the badly wounded knight to Kaer Morhen. Months later, Yennefer and Geralt arrive at the keep to check on their friend, only to find out that there are still some lingering after-effects from his injuries.
"You gave Cahir Witcher blood? You can't be serious, Vesemir, this is reckless folly!"
"Geralt, you saw his injuries. It was the only way to save his life. He would have died there and then, no matter all our efforts to keep him alive. You know it. Triss would not have done it had it been otherwise."
"He doesn't look different except for the scar, not - mutated," Yennefer says, glancing at the fitfully sleeping subject of their conversation. He is not shivering anymore, which is good, but seems to be dreaming something not too comforting. Well, if it gets worse, she can always wake him up. She shifts her gaze back toward the old Witcher, frowning. "This transfusion hasn't turned him into one of you, has it? That's not what you meant by issues, right?"
"It's more complicated, I fear. Just hear out my tale, Yennefer ..."
