Headcanons for The Chameleon and my OC
The Chameleon aka:Kamara (I've decided to call her Kamara bc it fits when you know its meaning)
. Whenever she's bored she'll sometimes subconsciously stick her tongue through the tooth gap she has
. Aside from shapeshifting and stealing the kung fu of others. She can also create realistic illusions (basically if she makes a wall and someone believes it's actually there then it'll be physical but if they don't then they pass right through it), a duplicate of herself, and wings made of shadows from her back
. She's not a fan of storms due to how loud they are and because she tried a lightning spell but it backfired and left a permanent scar
. The lightning scar is on her right arm and goes to the middle of her upper arm, a bite mark on her left arm, a small scar on her neck and stab wound on her tail from when Pamofina was hired to kill her
. She is a 'runt' compared to other veiled chameleons making her smaller than normal, which caused her to develop anxiety and be rather self conscious about her size
. She wraps her tail around the base of her legs whenever she's feeling anxious or self conscious
. She won't admit it but she gets very lonely whenever Pamofina's on a mission for a few days straight
. If she shape shifts into different forms too quickly or drastically there's a risk she'll break something (an arm, few ribs, her tail)
. You cannot convince me this lizard doesn't have some form of attachment issues, she's also clingy with Fina usually wrapping her tail around her's
. She's the one who found Zhen when she was young and saw herself in her, she tries to be a good mom but her attachment issues are a problem
Pamofina
. She gained the title 'queen of assassins' in Africa because of how strategic and feared she was
. She did threaten to cut Kamara's tongue out multiple times when they started working together
. Comparing her with The Chameleon she's Zhen's favorite mom
. She can spin in a wheel so her blades are more deadly and can cut through the skin of almost anything (kinda like the Wu Sisters)
. She sometimes sleeps upside down (like a speed stinger) because she needed to be alert if anyone decided to ambush her when asleep
. She did tear Fu-Xi's (villain from the show) heart out with her own teeth during an assassination despite having her blades
. Pamofina's fighting style is far more wild and unpredictable than kung fu so no one knows how she'll strike next
. She has a high poison tolerance so she can withstand venomous targets and drink poison without major complications
Both the moms
. They had a lot of hissing arguments during the first few weeks they met
. Just like chameleons in our world, they change color depending on how they're feeling, but Pamofina's colors are duller since she has a better hold on her emotions than Kamara
. Fina still assassinates others for her job but let's Kamara off for free and kills those who want her to kill her
. Fina does sometimes have sparing matches with The Chameleon so she can train her to fight in a way (since Kamara seems to have her own fighting style shown when fighting Zhen)
. Considering Fina is an assassin Kamara did become a little bit of a masochist
. They both DESPISE shedding season, because Fina has to cut the stitches on her eye so shed skin isn't caught and then resew it when the old skin on the left side of her face is gone, and Kamara because she can't shape shift without hurting herself and tearing skin off which causes her anxiety to spike from it being a time she's at her weakest
. Pamofina does like to tease Kamara whenever she's being a nerd, cuz we know Kamara must of read a lot to master her skills and to know so much about chi
. Chameleons eyes can dilate like a cat, because if we know anything from httyd, lizards=cats

I feel like my time is almost up
Ever since before my 30th birthday I started feeling really uneasy and anxious. I mean, I was turning 30 which was considered “old” to me most of my life, so yeah, you’d say it might be some kind of birthday depression. However, weeks passed and I am getting only worse…
I’ve been taking antidepressants for over a year now and I’ve been much better, I actually saw hope after so long and it was so wonderful, one year that wasn’t that critical (even though I had loads health issues and stays in hospital)..
I feel like I am taking a huge step back. I thought I was out of the woods but now I am back. My old scary thoughts are back and even more.
I can’t explain this one, but somebody tell me, why am I feeling like I might not see my next birthday? I feel like my time is almost up. Now, this could be just some paranoia, stupid thoughts playing with my mind or I am just a drama Queen and nothings gonna happen. I really used to be superstitious, but the older I get the more I try to find logical explanations behind everything. But still, what if?
I am honestly kind of okay with it. If it happened, it would just solve all of my problems and no one would be mad at me for doing it myself. My life is a mess... My family is totally broken. My old friends have new friends or soulmates, even children. I am broke most of the time and I have no motivation to even try anymore. Its so fucking HARD for a foreigner to survive in this country and somehow I can’t leave easily either.. I know I would miss it here but also I feel like something new would be fine.. I miss my Slovak “home” but I don’t wanna go there either..(?) don’t know.. I feel like After ages I started thinking about sui*ide again but this time on a whole new level which kinda scares me and I don’t know how to shake these thoughts off. Or just wondering how it will happen if it really happens soon.. my body is all fucked up, I lost 3kg in 2 weeks and counting, I puke everyday, I barely sleep… maybe this will end me eventually. But what about my family and friends here? They love me so much, how could I do that to them? I need to watch my nieces grow up, I need to protect them and they need the fun aunt to talk to when it gets awkward with parents… and my grandma? She needs this one person who patiently listens to her when everyone has enough… My grandpa is definitely the person who loves me the most in this world, my mom is a mess like me but I know she loves me, my sis is my bestie since ‘94, my uncle is like my big bro and even tho I feel we grew a bit apart I know he loves and cares about me.. Zhen already saved my life before.. if I do something stupid she would be the one who’d find me and I would never ever do that to anyone… seeing her crying so helpless and heartbroken every time I get worse, breaks my heart. She’s the closest person I have now and I know she loves me more than she should and that also breaks my heart.
I need to stay alive for people who love me and I need to remind myself of that everyday..!!!

im gonna try and make sense of the scenes from the MV and the post-credit scene
Tumblr media
this is sort of important. sort of.
one, Shu Yi is not wearing the bracelet. in the beginning, we can see that Shu Yi’s left wrist is bare. in the zoom-out shot, his right wrist is bare. this is the wrist that Shi De puts the bracelet on, and it’s the wrist that he mostly continues to wear the bracelet on. i say this because i see no black/brown strips across his wrist, so yah... but like, it’s quite faraway so idk
two, this is probably their house (by the end of season 2 that is). i assume this is theirs because they’re obviously sleeping in a double bed, the closet is divided into two with two distinct color palettes (light color on the left, darker color on the right). also, there are two chairs on the balcony. these things suggest that two people cohabitate in the same house.
but, for now, i think it belongs to only one of them. it could be Shu yi’s house because it has a similar interior vibe to Shu Yi’s condo/penthouse and it’s just… very Shu Yi, not a lot of color, very sleek and modern. but i also think it’s Shi De’s house, despite the drastic interior difference from the house he shared with his mom, and i’m actually leaning toward it being Shi De’s house. (a bit more explanation to come later on!)
three, the house is a contemporary brutalist architecture style. it’s definitely blocky & geometric, it’s definitely made of poured concrete (the main signatures of brutalism), and it definitely has a contemporary vibe. from the zoom-out shot, we can also see that the interior still largely maintain the original brutalist style and it’s still sleek, modern & contemporary (this will come in handy later on, i swear, it’s not just me nerding out about architecture)
and, before i continue, i just wanna say that i don’t think Shu Yi’s wearing the bracelet anymore… i replayed the MV nearly about a hundred times already, especially the last part, but i can’t really tell because his sleeves are always down and his hand movements are too fast. so, i assume their fighting happens after whatever the fuck that made Shu Yi looks like he’s ready to commit murder in the park and make him take off the bracelet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes, the park scene and the crying then throwing away bracelet scene are connected because Shu Yi’s wearing the same clothes. i think this is after the 5yrs timeskip but before the bitchslapping (Shi De’s clothes kinda give me a timeskip vibe, idk why, don’t ask me lol) and then someone (probably Zhen Xuan) comes over to Shi De’s side as Shi De’s waiting for Shu Yi in the park. misunderstanding abound! hence the subsequent anger and crying and Shu Yi throwing away the bracelet.
(Shu Yi fucking throw away the bracelet... so my angsty writing about the bracelet is all for naught *unhinged laughter*)
one of the reasons why i think the house, in the beginning, is Shi De’s is because Shu Yi is clearly still living in his condo/penthouse.
also, in contrast to Shu Yi, Shi De is still wearing the bracelet … even by the time they’re fighting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this is the bitchslap scene, in the office.
Tumblr media
this is definitely after the bitchslap scene. probably inside Shi De’s private office or sth. the glass panels & the interior have a similar design to the office we see in the post-credit scene. but most importantly, their clothes are the same as from the post-credit scene. same suit, same tie, same shirt. i replay this scene many, many times just to make sure.
Tumblr media
this is once Shu Yi returns home, the very same one from the one at the beginning. and i dare say so because the interior is clearly in the contemporary brutalist style i discussed in the beginning. it’s not practical for office buildings, especially skyscrapers, to be in the brutalist style. and, as we saw in the post-credit, the office buildings are in modern style. so yeah, this is their private residence. (brutalism are usually used in desiging institutional buildings. a couple of the uni buildings in WBL are in brutalist style.)
this happens first because Shu Yi’s still wearing the same clothes and he still has his vest on. he’s holding on to something in his right hand and he throws it away as he walks it and his hands move to unbutton his jacket.
Tumblr media
so this here probably happens afterward. you can see the notebook on the table in the background. it’s the same notebook that Shu Yi walks out with later on.
Shu Yi is also holding something in his right hand. i hesitate to say that it’s the bracelet because the pendant looks like a ring, not filled in like the pendant of the bracelet they wear.
Tumblr media
idk why tf their jackets are suddenly off and why Shi De’s sleeves are even rolled up.
this scene is also the other reason why i think this house is more likely to belong to Shi De. Shu Yi’s the one walking out with the notebook and documents, so, i assume he’s there to pick up his stuff. idk why tf he’s walking out without his jacket though… and idk why tf his stuff are there to begin with.
also... the fckn disrespect. a punch and then throwing the jacket at Shi De. fckn-
S2 hasn’t aired yet but i already have one major problem: Shu Yi’s violence. this constitute domestic violence and it is not okay. i might have been persuaded if it was just one slap scene but this now includes a slap, a punch, and a jacket being thrown at Shi De.
Tumblr media
and im pretty sure Shi De’s gonna give back as much as he gets because he literally throws Shu Yi onto the sofa.
ik this is just entertainment but i still desperately need this shit to be addressed properly.
HOWEVER, i must say that my stance on the violence & aggression can change depending on how Shu Yi & Shi De’s relationship are portrayed as in S2. i might be persuaded to accept it if their relationship is explicitly portrayed as unhealthy and with issues to be resolved. if it’s supposed to be a healthy relationship then nope, no, they need to address the violence.
(this is like how im able to accept GoT’s incest plot vs me being unable to accept the incest plot in LBC... incest is fckd up and it’s perceived as fckd up even in the GoT universe and it’s a plot device that shows how vile the lannister twins are. in LBC on the other hand... n o p e)
if u read till the end, thank you for entertaining my stream of consciousness... if u have anything to say or see something u'd like to correct, feel free to talk to me about it

OK, Word of Honor, Episode 9, and I know last time I got deep in the weeds about symbolism, but this week, I’m getting back to basics and rambling on (and on) about what this show is really about: Zhou Zishou and Wen Kexing and their relationship.
First, though, the usual warning: SPOILERS. Not just for this episode, but potentially for the entire show, so drive past and circle back around later if you want to watch all 36.5 eps unspoiled.
Bear with me on this one, because this ep spends a LOT of time on ZZS and WKX, and I think a lot of that time is ZZS making some Monumental Life Decisions, including how he’s going to proceed in this relationship and how he’s going to approach his life moving forward. But I’m finding myself needing to work through it chronologically, and it’s. A Lot. Also, let’s face it, ZZS has been my ride-or-die at least since he dropped to his knees and started disrobing in the middle of the throne room in Ep 1, so a chance to wallow in his emotional journey is a chance I’m gonna take.
So, we do have a brief opener when we find out Dead Guy who the Yueyang disciple was shrieking about at the end of the last ep is Fang Buzhi, AKA the Nine Clawed Fox, the guy who lifted WKX’s (Danyang) Glazed Armor (along with some replicas). He got got by mysterious somebodies in the previous episode, and we find out now that he has three tiny needles in his neck, which ZZS recognizes as a Tian Chuang technique. This leads ZZS to 1) assume it must have been Han Ying who did it, so the (Danyang) Glazed Armor is now in the hands of Tian Chuang, and 2) realize that maybe this is not the best place for the former leader of Tian Chuang to be hanging out right now, so he makes their excuses, because he knows that Gao Chong must be VERY BUSY now that he’s got this corpse on his hands, so they’ll just BE GOING, thanks so much. Gao Chong hopes to see them at the Hero’s Conference, and WKX responds in a Significant Tone that of course he’ll be at the Hero’s Conference, and now ZZS has his Thinky Face on again, because WKX is not nearly as subtle as he seems to think he is when he’s making Pronouncements.
The ZZS/WKX Show really starts kicking into gear that night, at the Getting Lucky Good Luck Inn, where we open on ZZS wandering contemplatively around his room, looking beautiful in the soft light of evening (your FACE, Zhang Zhehan) and ruminating on Prince Jin’s motives for wanting the Glazed Armor, like he’s never met this power-hungry asshole before. Also, he thinks to himself, wtf was that, with Gao Chong keeping anybody from seeing Chengling in the last ep? There’s a knock on the door, which momentarily confuses him - understandably, because as we’ll see, WKX doesn’t generally get the concept of announcing yourself and waiting to be invited in by knocking first, preferring to dramatically bust open doors (at least to ZZS’s bedroom) and grace you with his presence, whatever your thoughts on the matter are. He’s accompanied by waiters and dinner, and ZZS realizes his senses are going, presumably because he can’t smell this spread that WKX has procured in an attempt to prove what a good provider he is (what did I say about food and bonding? ZZS fed him in the market, and now it’s his turn to feed ZZS). WKX tells us that life is just three hots and a cot - which gives away more about your life than you would likely be comfortable with us knowing, Lao Wen, given how close to the vest you’re holding your cards – and that everything else can wait if you can have a meal with someone you like. :coff: (Also, remember this, it will come around again.)
Cut to dinner by flickering candlelight, the better for soft lighting to caress ZZH’s exquisite face, but ZZS isn’t into it at all, staring into space instead of eating WKX’s proffered Courtship Delicacies. This earns what’s possibly WKX’s most hypocritical and amusing comment yet, which is to ask ZZS, “What is it that you can’t tell me?” ZZS - apparently - is still feeling soft about WKX’s help against Tian Chuang’s Chengling-kidnapping attempt - or maybe he’s thinking that a little bit of opening up on his part will soften up WKX - because he hardly has to have a spoon dug into his ribs at all to admit that he’s wondering if it was a mistake to bring Chengling to Five Lakes Alliance. My dude, just steal him back, then. WKX laughs at him and tells him he’s got such a handsome face (true) along with a kind and innocent heart (false, he’s a former government spook and assassin, a part-time ill-tempered gremlin, and a whole-ass troll), and therefore girls will clearly go crazy for him (true, just ask me). ANYWAY, A-Xu, (WKX continues) now that the requisite random no-homo boilerplate is out of the way, are you really thinking of taking on Chengling as a disciple, because now is apparently not too soon to have the adoption conversation about Our Son. I almost expect him to pull out the adoption papers then and there. Instead, he pulls out a story - which is awkwardly placed and kind of clunky, actually, despite being thematically important - of a dog he had once, given to him by Someone Very Important, although of course he’s not going to say who that was (), and his mother warning him that he’d have to take care of it for life, and then he betrayed it.
So, there’s a lot going on here. We’ll eventually find out that ZZS gave Zhen Yan a puppy, so will this story of a gift dog jog ZZS’s memory into realizing that WKX is Zhen Yan without WKX actually telling him, so that WKX can tell his Bundle of Neuroses that it’s not reeeaaallly WKX’s fault ZZS figured it out? Also, WKX sees ZZS being like this about Chengling, and in the Chengling = Zhen Yan equation we’ve already established, is it possible this will prime ZZS to remember another disciple/young boy he took responsibility for, at one point? Of course, on ZZS’s side of things, it’s possible that hearing about this dog that WKX failed is likely to remind him of the way he failed his own responsibility to all the other disciples of Siji Manor, so, excellent way to take a stab at his heart, WKX! However, ZZS breaks the miserable tone we’ve become mired in by smacking WKX, chiding him for comparing their son to a dog, and getting them drinking. See, here, Chengling is the dog. Earlier, the two sisters A-Xiang rescued were the dog. Later, A-Xiang will be the dog. Unfortunately, WKX is going to have a blind spot and never quite realize that, in the Ghost Valley schema he’s set up, the Department of the Unfaithful is also the dog, but we’ll get to that in later eps. For now, cut to later that night: After dinner and a washup, ZZS sits on his bed, and we get some special effects to indicate that his hearing is also giving him problems, so he deploys his special Nightly Nails Torment meditation pose, and then we get the second instance of WKX playing the xiao to help him meditate and rest. (Junjun, your hands on that xiao …) ANYWAY, we get a gorgeous little bit of physical acting from ZZH here that could easily have been overplayed but is nicely restrained and subtle, with just the slightest smile when ZZS realizes WKX is playing, and then his whole body visibly relaxing as he allows himself to sink into WKX’s now-familiar musical embrace the meditation. It is :chef’s kiss:
Cut to next AM, when ZZS is now a very cranky boy, and I get this, because I also am exceedingly irritated when people bust into the room where I’m sleeping with an abundance of cheerfulness and try to get me to interact and do things without at least half an hour to creep my way out of bed, two cups of coffee, and an hour of silence before any attempts to converse like a reasonable human being (I’m looking at YOU, mom), and I don’t even have the excuse of seven Nails pinning me. Also, when WKX whips off the blankets, we learn that ZZH dresses to the right. :hands: I’m just making an observation. So, WKX wants to go to Yuefan Tower like some kind of wide-eyed tourist, and despite some smacking and scowling and death threats, we then smash-cut to the Tower, where ZZS has apparently come to the conclusion that the only way to deal with the ADHD gremlin crawling into his bed is to humor him about this daytrip. I think you could have come up with some more creative ideas that didn’t involve leaving bed, but I guess you’re not the fast one in this relationship, Zhou-ge. Srsly, though, I’m sure WKX would have been happy to do all the work, my dude. (I don’t always have strong top-bottom preferences, but you probably aren’t going to have much luck convincing me that ZZS is not a pillow princess who wants to just lay back and be spoiled. “Aren’t you a very capable man?” indeed. WKX has to do ALL THE WORK, god. I don’t know if I’m swimming against the current here – god knows I was in Inception fandom, where I felt the same way about Eames - but here we are.) Also, I can’t believe WKX didn’t just sit in the bedroom and creep on A-Xu’s beautiful sleeping profile for at least the amount of time it would have taken to drink a pot of tea, another viable option if it was me in this scenario. Tch. What kind of stalker are you, Lao Wen?
ANYWAY, at Yuefang Tower, ZZS tells us about the Four Sages of Anji, a senior-citizen polycule of soulmates who are, conveniently, at this very moment, on a boat in the lake beside the tower, playing music and sword-dancing. This is the first time they’ve been seen in 10+ years, after they put down their various swords and ran off together to live like hippies off-the-grid in the woods, probably skipping around naked, drinking “tea,” and having lots of sex. ZZS sighs wistfully while recounting this tale and calls them “a breath of fresh air.” There’s some discussion and poetry quoting and literary references to soulmates, and somewhere in here we get a shot of ZZS and WKX from behind which makes it super-obvious how hard they’re working the costumes to make Gong Jun look as broad as possible. He’s got the power shoulders on this set of robes, compared to Laopo ZZS’s soft, unstructured, flowing robes, and with those shoulders tapering down to the belted waist, they’ve got Junjun seriously working the Chris Evans Dorito silhouette. Meanwhile, focus back on their conversation: ZZS thinks that “the world is not important, finding a soulmate is,” giving some MAJOR FORESHADOWING for the end of the show (which we are accepting as “Ep” 37 because WE ARE), when we get that icy separation from the rest of the world but they have each other. WKX gives him a yearning look. ZZS looks back … there’s really no other way to put this … coyly, not meeting WKX’s gaze directly. This offers WKX and us a chance to admire his profile once again, thank you, Laopo. ZZS waits until WKX looks back out at the lake before looking at him directly, and his face journey, y’all. He’s thinking that it might not be bad to spend his remaining time with this soulmate, I think he’s starting to re-think the slow suicide, and he’s also thisclose to just letting WKX have him. Y’all, he seriously wants WKX so bad, here. It may be the first time we’ve seen this level of interest from him - it may be the first time, in all that we’ve seen of him, that he allows himself to even have that kind of interest. I think this is the next big step from Ep 6, when he allowed himself to enjoy being desired - now he’s allowing himself to desire, to want something again, other than a chance to drink himself to death in the gutter. This, right here, is a crucial point when he makes the decision to spend whatever time he’s got left living rather than just dying, and I’m flailing on the couch. This is the face of a man who’s ready to Make Some Declarations while getting railed within an inch of his life. SOMEONE IS GETTING SOME TONIGHT. Or he would if he wasn’t going to turn out to be such a fuckup. FFS, WKX.
But first, we cut to a scene of them back at the marketplace, wandering through as WKX mocks various sects in town for the conference – including the Mount Hua boys, who apparently look like virgins make their first trip to a brothel – and ZZS supplies background info on them. WKX asks if ZZS can tell what sect WKX is from, and ZZS calls him a messy bitch before asking if WKX can please stop making him play guessing games about everything and just tell him what WKX so clearly wants ZZS to know. (I know, right? But no, because then WKX might get what he wants, and he’s way too terrified for that, so you have to guess. That way, it’s not his fault when you figure out who he is and reject him, as anyone clearly will do because he’s unlovable and unforgiveable and not even really human, A-Xu.) WKX immediately changes the subject to ramble about the Hero’s Conference and how laughable all the sects are for wanting to be seen as heroes, blah blah blah, rinse and repeat. ZZS comments that only inexperienced people want to be heroes, that experienced people know “every character of the word hero is written in blood,” and yes, the character they’re using for hero, “ying,” is still the same character used in Han Ying’s name (which is not, by the way, the “ying” used in Wei Ying’s name, to cross streams for a moment). ZZS says he’s too old to be a hero (I and my knees feel you, my dude), now he’s just a wanderer, and he asks if WKX wants to be a hero or a wanderer, and WKX says that as a wanderer, all he needs is ZZS, and I’m telling you, someone absolutely would be getting some tonight if only he wasn’t such a fuckup, Lao Wen.
I’m’a try to wrap this up soon, because it’s gotten v. long, but we then cut to that night at the Getting Lucky Inn, ZZS drinking in his room, WKX busting in with his usual dramatic flair, with wine, inviting ZZS up to the roof to drink and look at the moon. He clearly has ulterior motives, but unfortunately for everyone, we’re going to discover they’re not the ulterior motives ZZS is expecting. As they lean back on the roof together, hands almost-but-not-quite touching, a romantic tune playing, WKX tells ZZS that he’s like, really happy! Just super happy! So happy! Ask me why I’m so happy, A-Xu! Spoiler alert: It is, unfortunately, not because he’s getting ready to get some from his laopo. This is particularly unfortunate, because ZZS chooses this moment to take another big step in this relationship, telling WKX that he’s not going to ask about things WKX doesn’t want to tell him, that he’ll wait for whatever WKX wants to tell him. On the surface, this comes off a little bit like, I’m done with asking when you’re not going to answer anyway, but in context – particularly on the back of the earlier scene when ZZS watched WKX turn on a dime and immediately change the subject to avoid exposing anything when ZZS asked WKX to stop making him guess everything – this is as good as a declaration of going all-in. ZZS is committing to this relationship on faith, without having all – or even most – of the answers about WKX, and his approach is going to be to wait until WKX is ready to reveal whatever information he feels safe and comfortable revealing. In practice, he’s going to end up being better or worse at this, depending on the day, but what it reminds me of, already, is that moment in the 20s (Ep 21? 22?) when A-Xiang and Cao Weining are arguing about her killing the beggar guy, he approaches her, she yells at him and points to the ground to indicate exactly how close he’s allowed to get to her, and his respect of that boundary she lays down is instantaneous and absolute. That’s what ZZS is saying he’s going to at least try to do, here. It also reminds me of the way he’s going to respect WKX’s decision on whether or not WKX is going to claim his place as a disciple of Siji Manor, without it affecting their relationship, so we really are starting as ZZS means to go on, here.
Unfortunately, we then find out that what WKX is actually so happy about is that his plan to burn down the jianghu is starting its next big step, and their romantic evening is interrupted by a bunch of dudes fighting and killing each other over a bunch of fake Glazed Armor. WKX mentions that he’s so happy the show’s started; he’s alternately amused, satisfied, and smug as they watch various fights; he seems to be expecting ZZS to also be amused; and I feel like the implication is that this was his real motive for inviting ZZS out onto the roof, to be able to watch this show with him. ZZS – who’s spent enough time standing ankle-deep in blood for six lifetimes and was working hard just a few weeks ago at drinking himself to death to try to forget what that feels like - is displeased and horrified, rather than very proud of what WKX has accomplished; he pushes WKX away from him when WKX approaches him to ask if he doesn’t think it’s all so very amusing; and he calls WKX crazy, then turns his back on him and walks away. To make things worse, the next morning, after WKX brings breakfast to ZZS’s room and actually knocks, only to find that ZZS has left in the middle of the night, WKX will witness an angry mob gathered outside the house in the woods where the Four Sages of Anji are staying for the Hero’s Conference, demanding a piece of the Glazed Armor the Sages are supposedly holding for Gao Chong, and eventually leading to the deaths of all four of these peaceful aging hippies whose commune in the woods was ZZS’s ultimate dream, leaving WKX horrified by the fact that his actions have consequences, including some that are going to make his boyfriend even more pissed off at him.
SO. All that happened. There were some other people in the episode, too:
We see A-Xiang and Cao Weining having lunch. She asks him why he’s not eating, calls him fat and cute, then proceeds to tell him about Ghoul, who likes to eat the faces of pretty boys. Her conversation skills could still use some work. Cao Weining vows to kill the ghosts of Ghost Valley who would do such awful things. A-Xiang actually ignores this slander about the evil of the residents of the Ghost Valley in a way that she doesn’t usually – usually she looks kind of unhappy when the Evilness of the Evil Inhabitants of the Evil Ghost Valley comes up, going all the way back to ZZS’s comments in Ep 2. Right now, she’s too busy pumping Pooh Bear for information, asking about why the Ghost Valley would have left a pile of heads on Yueyang’s doorstep if the Five Lakes Alliance is so great, so what is Five Lakes going to maybe, perhaps, do about this? Cao-dage is suspicious … that A-Xiang might be scared, but don’t worry, he’ll protect her. Oh, sweetheart. I could eat you up with a spoon, right along with Ghoul. Also, it finally registers that A-Xiang called him cute, but she has to step away for a quick confab with a henchwoman.
We also have to watch Chengling get bullied some more by a Yueyang shixiong who I think is Gao Shan, who we’ll later see bullying some prisoners in the Yueyang dungeon as he admits that he’s doing it to relieve his own frustrations and make himself feel better -  fantastic disciples you’ve got there, Gao Chong, I’m super-impressed by the morality and ethics you’re instilling as a sect. Once again, I have to consider WKX’s position on the jianghu as a hive of scum and villainy. Anyway, once Bullying Hour is over, Chengling runs into A-Xiang, and he can’t manage to prevent the waterworks as he confesses that he thought he’d never see any of them again and that ZZS didn’t want him. UGH. Zhou Zishu, come and get your child back. He’s at least somewhat mollified by Xiang-jie telling him she’s been sent to take care of him, and god knows she’s managed to keep WKX fed and clothed this long, so she has some experience as a minder, as counterintuitive as that seems.
We get a quick shot of Han Ying (My Beloved) with two identical pieces of Glazed Armor, apparently realizing that there are fakes out there.
Deng Kuan shows up, beaten and stumbling, and nearly gets turned away at the front gates of his own sect as a beggar – have I mentioned how unimpressed I am by the Yueyang disciples? Deng Kuan appears to be the only one of them worth anything – before they realize who he is. He is put to bed and tenderly nursed by Gao Xiaolian, who cries over him as he won’t wake up.
Finally, Gao Chong, Shen Shen and Zhao Jing (uh-huh) are horrified to discover that there’s fake Glazed Armor fk’n everywhere in town, making Five Lakes Alliance look ridiculous, which is just fabulous as the Hero’s Conference is coming up, guys. Shen Shen, because everything is a nail, vows to kill anyone who makes problems. Later, Hei Zi, who plays Gao Chong, has an utterly fantastic moment after the deaths of the Four Sages (wow, I did not remember that we wrapped up their entire storyline within a single ep), when he’s haranguing Beggar Gang Chief and is literally all, “You want the Glazed Armor? :pulls a piece out of his robe: HERE. You want some more? :pulls another piece out of his robe: TAKE IT.” It’s a great acting moment, his delivery is perfection.

Note
1. hope it’s alright that i added on to your zombie AU hcs (i LOVE your hcs & couldn’t help myself, & might do it again w/ other of your hcs in the future if it’s okay with you) and 2. how do the parents react to the juniors’s coffee shop? 0-0
1) it is totally alright don’t even worry abt it i loved it, and i would love to see u adding to some of my posts, as long as it’s okay if i add to some of urs bc i love ur hcs
2) thank you for asking cause i’ve been dying to talk abt this one for a minute—
jc, while skeptical at first, is so proud of his son nephew
ling had approached him when they (the quartet) were in the stage of “oh shit, wait we’re actually doing this, okay” to ask for advice
aka ling burst into jc’s office, shoved all his notes into his dad’s jiujiu’s hands nd started explaining everything (rambling is a better word for it)
“what the fuck, a-ling?”
“i don’t know, it’s just kinda, happening?”
a heavy sigh, “okay, so here’s what you guys are missing—“
and he, being the head of Yunmeng Jiang Corp., gives him the rundown on how to own and operate a business and how difficult it rlly is
he’s basically the reality check for the rest of the quartet who don’t know shit abt business nd helps coach them through the process
(they all start calling him uncle during this, but they’ll never call him that to his face)
every step of the way, ling always double checked with jc just to be safe jiujiu, i can’t fuck this up!!!
(jc loves that jl is asking him for advice on this, that he can still rely on him that jl isn’t gonna push him away now that he’s an adult)
so when jc actually walks into the cafe opening day, the pride radiating from him is insurmountable as the quartet greet him at the counter
this got long, so more under the cut
jingyi has extremely absentee parents who would regularly promise to be at things for him and would always last minute cancel
this time is no different
he basically accepted that his parents weren’t gonna show up that day, but when they just never came, part of him was crushed bc in the past at least they would text him
and he feels stupid for hoping that they would come when they never did in the past and really he shouldn’t’ve even though to hope bc why would they change now when there has been countless opening nights, performances, even graduation that they never went to why would they suddenly change for this—
however, with having grown up with sizhui, wwx, lwj, nd wn (that’s right, wangningxian rights in this au) are used to filling the parental role for jingyi and this time is no different
(god, i might have to make a separate post abt the family dynamics in this au, even though this is technically part of my modern au but not really? i’ll worry abt that later)
wwx was practically bouncing off the walls when they were getting ready to head over and was vibrating in his seat, excitedly chatting the entire ride over
wen ning, head baker at a super popular bakery in the city, was excited to try jingyi’s food after countless late-night phone calls finalizing recipes nd giving him advice on how to run a kitchen
lan wangji was more,,,,,concerned abt this whole venture bc they’re barely out of college, only one of them rlly knows a lot abt business, and bc jingyi nd sizhui are going into performance-based careers they’re not going to be able to be around to help all the time nd even emwhen they are there, they can’t do a lot for the business bc of their main careers
nd when the three of them walk into the coffee shop and are greeted by jingyi’s voice singing over the speakers, sizhui taking another customer’s order, and zizhen lighting up when he spots them over the coffee machine, they all just know that they’ll frequent here more than they originally planned
(they become the most regular customers)
side note: zizhen is also in charge of hiring on new employees nd wangji helps guide him through what to look for, what to be wary of, how to conduct an interview, all that
while zizhen is already fairly organized, wangji gives him little tips on what to take note of and always resupplies zizhen with notebooks whenever he fills one up (zizhen bullet journals nd has a separate journal for the coffee shop nd he fills so many journals)
zizhen is rlly receptive to wangji’s nd jiang cheng’s help bc his father does not support this whole coffee shop thing, and makes sure that zizhen is aware of the fact
whenever zizhen would bring up the subject, he’d scoff with a “you still haven’t let that go? we pay for your college tuition, we let you do your journalism thing, and this is how you repay us? by starting a business all on your own that is sure to fall through not two weeks after opening with your roommates that in five years you’ll probably have forgotten about? unbelievable”
opening day, he come to the shop, give a cursory sweeping glance of the shop, scoffs, and leaves
zizhen is both crestfallen and infuriated nd vents to jin ling his entire lunch break because he didn’t even try the coffee a-ling, didn’t even place a goddamn order, if he’s so pressed abt this business going down in two weeks, why not, you know, order smth to make sure that doesn’t fucking happen—
so after those first two weeks of being open (nd the shop decidedly not going out of business, thank you very much) jin ling emails a copy of their stats that clearly show how successful their shop is as well as a link to an article written by a local newspaper about their shop and how they were quickly growing to be an incredibly popular spot, with the email title being, “We Are Not Going Out of Business” —there is no other message attached
(protectively petty jin ling ftw)
he still doesn’t approve, but now he no longer says anything against it
zizhen’s mom on the other hand is a completely different story
she did have her reservations at first bc opening a business of any kind was no small feat a-zhen, but when she saw how excited for this zizhen was, how seriously the four of them were taking this, and the help they were getting from jiang cheng, her concerns were mostly assuaged
zizhen goes to her to vent and rant bc there’s just smth abt verbalizing all ur thoughts to someone willing to listen that just makes them easier to process, you know?
mama ouyang kinda becomes his common sense filter for when he starts to overthink nd helps sort out and organize the verbal spitballing, offering suggestions here nd there to solve the problems he was stressing over, or to prevent further issues from coming up and zizhen has never felt more grateful to have such an amazing mother

[Eng] History3: Trapped Diary Logbook - Days 1 to 5
♡  Days 1 to 5 of Filming History3: Trapped
Note: These are my translations! Please do not repost anywhere else. I’ve added the photos but I couldn’t scan HQ versions because I didn’t want to damage the book haha sorry about that guys!
Day 1
Tumblr media
On the very first day of filming, the season for the scene they were filming was actually “Just Turning to Winter”, but the temperature on that day rose to 29 degrees Celcius. All the crew members and staff were wearing sleeveless, but the cast had to wear winter coats or long-sleeved shirts. The person who wore the most was Tang Yi, who had a turtleneck on with a suit jacket over, but he didn’t sweat all that much. Instead,  Ah De who was wearing the thinnest layer of clothes compared to the rest of the cast, dressed in a dress shirt and suit jacket, perspired so much into his shirt that when he took it off, the wardrobe department went, “This shirt is way too wet!”
Officer Meng’s filming schedule on this day began from 10am in the morning and he from then until 6pm, he was eating from morning till night, from the moment he began work until he ended his schedule. He ate two big packets of rice, drank a total of 4000cc of coke, and the moment Jake eats spicy food he’ll start to break out in a lot of sweat, and his face gets really red. So when the director finally shouted ‘cut’, the staff would immediately pass him a plastic bag so he can spit out the spicy chicken dish he’s eating in his mouth.
◆ [Note: Jake’s allergic to seafood and cannot eat spicy food in case any of you were wondering]
Day 2
Tumblr media
Tang Yi and Chen Wen Hao’s first meeting, is also Chris and Jia Kui’s second time working together.
Both of them worked together the first time on a movie, and at that time Jia Kui’s role was the theatre teacher in the movie. Early in the morning, after Chris was done with makeup, he sat in a corner on set with the script in hand, and it was obvious that he felt really contradictory and trouble, as Jia Kui is Chris’ mentor in real life, but Chen Wen Hao is Tang Yi’s enemy, the target of his revenge.
In the process of them acting out their scenes together, the director hoped that Tang Yi can be more ruthless to Chen Wen Hao, but Tang Yi’s character is both steady and calm, so how should Chris act out a cold person’s rage and ruthlessness? With the cameras turned away from, Jia Kui added to the severity and tone of some lines so as to help Chris bring out that anger. Afterwards, Jia Kui also said that the role of Tang Yi is really not easy to act out. He’s a really young gang leader, so in his eyes, the rage and hate must be accompanied by a bit of childishness or youth considering his age, and this is something really hard to experience in most people’s real lives.
◆ [Note: Chen Jia Kui is the name of the actor who plays Chen Wen Hao in case any of you are confused]
Day 3
Tumblr media
Today is Zhao Zi’s first day of filming, and while he was waiting for his scenes and feeling bored, he began to act as the suit store’s staff. He started to sell the and promote the suits, and other than the suits, he also simultaneously promoted the ties, the belts and even shoes! On his own, words kept falling smoothly out of his mouth without stopping, and Shao Fei who was standing nearby could only look at him with wide, stunned eyes (if you want to see Shao Fei’s dumbfounded look, do remember to look at the behind the scenes from the DVD). Finally, Shao Fei said, “If you buy a pair of shoes you can get Zhao Zi for free, hurry come and take Zhao Zi away, Team Three can’t stand him anymore!”
The young boss Tang was tired, and he decided to sleep in his own store for just a little. Just a little bit would be good, Shao Fei and Ah De, the both of you help me to keep a look out, and when the director comes over, remember to wake me up!
Day 4
Tumblr media
Team Three’s office in the show is actually the real LINE TV (Choco) office, and it’s filled with a contemporary vibe and has a modern look to it. This environment made Team Three’s atmosphere even more lively.
The very first Team Three scene, the director wanted to use a one-shot for it, and so the very first time the team gathered for their scene they already had to be tested for their chemistry and teamwork. Aside from the chemistry between the actors, this also was a test for the staff, the crew members, the sound crew as they also had to follow the actors in this single shot. Everyone still remembered that when the got to the 20th take, everyone’s lines were smooth, their acting was on point as well, and their blocking was correct as well. The director and all the staff were behind the monitors looking really focused and tensed, and just as everyone thought they were going to success, Ah Zhi forgot his very last line.
Everyone ended finishing on the 27th take.
◆ [Note: Blocking as in walking and position in a single frame, to ensure that everyone is standing or sitting where they’re supposed to in the scene so that it looks right on camera & one-shot as in no cuts or changes in camera angles as they film the scene in one take]
Day 5
Tumblr media
After they finished filming the scene with Team Three and Shao Fei getting into trouble, where Captain Shi was yelling at him, the director told Shao Fei that she wanted to add another scene where he would sit by the window and reminisce about Li Zhen Jie, and continuing with the emotions that Jake displayed as Shao Fei in the previous scene… Everyone in Team Three all think that Shao Fei is holding too long onto a meaningless case, and if he there was some progress with the case, that would be one thing, but not only did Shao Fei not find any clues at all he’s going around getting into trouble all the time. If Li Zhen Jie really was here, then it wouldn’t be like this now… Shao Fei really really misses Li Zhen Jie, and rather than say that the director added this scene at the last minute, it was more that she deliberately didn’t tell Jake that she was adding this scene.
When they were filming, the director used the megaphone to play the melody from the music box and occasionally said some things to provoke Jake’s emotions. It was only after when Jake was holding his own phone and sliding through his mom’s Facebook, and no one expecting Jake to begin crying right here. Even after the director shouted ‘cut’, he was unable to stop sobbing, until she walked over to pat him on the back lightly. Even Jake himself didn’t think he would be able to cry out like this so quickly.
◆ [Note: During one of the variety shows, Jake did mention that his only regret of sorts is not being able to spend more time with his family. And during one of the Instagram Lives I think the director and Jake also did talk about this take where Jake cried by the window, but they chose the cut where he didn’t cry for the show because it felt more appropriate.]

London Calling
So eons ago I took prompts and didn’t finish them. This was one that was from the story you won’t write prompts that went around for a bit. Look I finished something even if it’s not-fic! I don’t remember who this is from and it’s not in my ask box anymore for some reason.
The story you won't write: 'Boys just wanna have fun' ))))))
Notes: *we’re going to handwave a lot here. Like Geno having a passport and being able to be in London in July of 2006 when we all know he didn’t get his passport back until August*
I’m also putting this behind a read more because it got long and it does actually get slightly NSFW in one part. Which I wrote at work. Lol.
1.
Sid can’t be spontaneous. Nothing in his life allows for that because people know his face. But he wants to do this, he wants one chance to experience gay pride and the best way to do that is to go to Europe. He’ll blend in better there and his face isn’t as well known as in North America. Europride is in London which means he speaks the language which is why São Paulo is not on his list. That would be even better, but the language barrier worries him. He speaks no Portuguese at all.
So London, Europride 2006. That’s where he’s going after his rookie year. His parents know. Pat knows. He doesn’t tell Mario because … well, he just doesn’t tell Mario. Mario knows he’s gay but Sid’s never actually provided any evidence of that while living in his house.
The hotel room is nice but not too nice. The clothes he’s got are clothes that won’t be coming home with him. He’s got a box of bleach for his hair and bright red lipstick for his lips.
When he’s ready, he looks at himself in the mirror - bleached blonde hair, bright red lipstick, short gold booty shorts and a crop top with a rainbow flag on it - and doesn’t see Sidney Crosby. He takes a picture on his crappy flip phone (carefully not getting the booty shorts) for his mom because he promised.
Sid is ready to experience his sexuality.
2.
Sid’s sweaty and covered in glitter by the time he makes it to the bar. He hands over a credit card, smiling at the cute bartender who looks him over casually. It’s been a great few days so far and Sid’s enjoying everything. He’s made a few friends that he’s been spending most of his time with and he just wants a pint before he goes back to the dance floor.
A big body presses against him and he turns his head, looking up at a man who rests a hand against Sid’s hip.
“Sorry,” the man says, shouting in Sid’s ear. “English bad. You get?”
The man gestures at the bartender and Sid’s pint. He pulls a card out of his pocket and hands it to Sid and Sid shrugs, getting the cute bartender’s attention again to get the man a beer.
“Thanks much.” The man beams and it lights up his face. Sid turns a little so they’re pressed front to front.
“I’m Patrick,” Sid says. “Nice to meet you.”
The man licks his lips, his eyes dropping to Sid’s mouth. Sid knows how good his mouth looks, knows how to play up the fullness of his lips. It makes him want to laugh, thinking about how the guys all say he has no game. If they could see him now.
“Zhenya. Nice to meet,” Zhenya’s hand slides to Sid's hip and squeezes. Sid hums a little appreciatively.
"Trust me,” Sid smiles invitingly. " It's my pleasure.”
3.
Zhenya pushes Sid against the door as soon as it is shut, kissing him hungrily. Sid grips Zhenya's ass in both hands, rocking against him.
"Fuck,” Sid groans when Zhenya tears his mouth away to breathe. "Bed. C'mon.”
Sid's figured out that Zhenya's lack of English is not much trouble when he uses his hands to guide their "conversation". Two drinks, a few dances, and Sid was making excuses to his friends, Zhenya draped over his shoulders. It's obvious why they are leaving.
They rock against each other enthusiastically, kissing and biting at sweaty skin, neither of them able to focus long enough to do more than press their cocks against hot skin. Zhenya bites Sid’s shoulder and Sid feels a burst of warm heat against his stomach. He grips at Zhenya’s ass and ruts against him until he finds his completion, Zhenya draped on top of him.
They pant in the darkness of the room, Sid occasionally running his hands through Zhenya’s unruly curls. Zhenya finally pushes himself up and leans over to the bedside table to rummage through it, finding the lube and condoms that Sid stashed there. He’s here for a lot of reasons, and one of them is to have sex. It’s been a fruitful week.
Zhenya smirks at him and grabs Sid’s hand, pouring lube in it before spreading his legs wide. Sid’s eyes widen at the sight of Zhenya’s long legs and his soft, sticky dick resting on his stomach.
“Yeah?” Sid touches his fingers to Zhenya’s hole. Zhenya answers him in Russian, but nods at the same time and Sid presses in, shocked at his luck.
They fuck slower this time, Zhenya’s legs wrapped around Sid, the two of them breathing against each others lips. It’s late by the time they separate again and Sid can’t see sending Zhenya out into the night.
He pulls him into the shower and kisses him slowly and sweetly. “Stay. Sleep tonight?”
Zhenya cocks his head to the side, looking at Sid thoughtfully. “Okay. Tonight.”
4.
Sid doesn’t see Zhenya again. That’s not what this trip is for. He does think of him though and he kind of wishes he had gotten his email or something. It’s a stupid thought. It’s not like he’s going to trade contact information with any of the people he is going to meet in London, much less any of the people he fucks. Maybe someday, but not now. Not when he’s just barely broken into the NHL.
He dyes his hair back before he leaves and bags up the clothing, leaving it in the hotel room. He looks at his reflection in the mirror again, dressed in cargo shorts and a polo and he sees Sidney Crosby again. There’s still a bruise hiding under the collar of his polo that he knows he could see if he moves his head the right way, but otherwise, he looks the same as before he left.
Home is the same as well. He trains hard and tells his parents a few sanitized stories about London. His dad clears his throat a few times and just squeezes his shoulder and says something about condoms before turning bright red.
Andy knows he’s gay and knew his plans before he came home, so in their down time, he lets Sid tell him stories. He even listens when Sid tells him about how he can’t stop thinking about Zhenya. He still knows it’s stupid. He shouldn’t be hung up on a guy he spent less than 12 hours with, but he kind of is.
Andy squeezes his shoulder comfortingly and then makes him run up a hill a few times until Sid can’t think about anything but how much he hates Andy and that actually does make things a little better.
5.
Sid’s in his room at Mario’s when Nathalie knocks on his door and says that Evgeni Malkin is going to be coming to dinner. Sid’s shocked because last anyone had heard, Malkin had signed another contract in Russia. He’s been excited to play with the guy so him being here is great.
He showers even though he’s not really gross. Better to make a good impression on him anyway. When he gets downstairs, Gonch is there as well as George from the front office. He says hello to everyone and makes his way to the kitchen to help out Nathalie. He’s anxious and nervous and if he doesn’t do something with his hands, he’s going to go nuts.
When the doorbell rings, Austin comes running into the kitchen to get them and Sid washes his hands quickly before following Nathalie out. He can’t see Malkin at first because he’s hidden behind Mario, introductions being made.
“And this is Sidney Crosby,” Mario says, stepping aside. “You’ll be playing together.”
Sid can hear Mario’s words being translated by George but it’s all fuzz in his brain because the person standing there is *Zhenya*. He’s tired and disheveled, but it’s Zhenya.
Sid moves on automatic, sticking his hand out. “Nice to meet you. I’m really excited to play with you.” He doesn’t know how he manages to speak, or if it even sounds normal. No one seems to be staring at him oddly.
Malkin - Zhenya - takes his hand and shakes it. “Please to meet.”
And Sid’s heart crashes because the recognition isn’t there. Zhenya looks at him like he’s a stranger even though Sid’s had his dick in his ass.
Sid manages a tight smile before letting go of his hand and stepping back. The evening is a bit of a blur after that. All of his media training kicks in and he keeps himself together, talking when necessary, polite to a fault. He even talks to Zhen - Malkin - when he needs to.
When he finally is alone again, he drops his hands into his face and lets himself cry. He knew it was stupid.
6.
They don’t talk about it. Zhenya becomes Geno and Sid forces himself to separate the two in his brain. Zhenya was a one time thing. The Sid he met wasn’t real either. It’s not like he used his name or looked like himself. Geno is real and he’s here and it’s Sid job to help integrate him into the team.
So he does. They become friends as best they can considering Geno barely speaks English. There is a lot of charades and Gonch muttering things under his breath as he translates for Geno. The words he learns first are not exactly suitable for polite company but great for a locker room.
As Geno’s vocabulary grows, so does his personality. Geno is funny and whip smart with comebacks which makes Sid wish he understood Russian. If Geno’s this funny and smart in a language he barely understands, he must be amazing in his own language.
Sometimes he catches Geno staring at him, his expression hard to read. Sometimes he wonders if Geno’s figured out who he is - that he’s Patrick. Sid’s good at not looking in locker rooms, but every so often he catches himself looking at Geno’s long legs and remembering the way they wrapped around his body.
He takes cold showers when that happens.
7.
“Patrick,” Geno says, his eyes locked on Sid’s from where he’s sitting on the other side of the table. They’re stuck on table duty because they’re underage and can’t go down to the bar area. Sid doesn’t actually mind - until now.
“Excuse me?” Sid’s voice cracks and he sits up straight.
“Sidney Patrick Crosby. Is your name. Me,” Geno taps his chest. “Zhenya little name for Evgeni. Soft, for close. I like use for kiss.” He reaches out and tugs on Sid’s hair. “This. Why you do?”
So they were doing this apparently. Right here. In a bar where their teammates could show up any time. Sid’s eyelids flutter without his permission when Geno tugs on his hair and Geno’s eyes narrow.
“I’m Помните. You like.”
“G…” Sid sighs. “I dyed it. I wanted to make it hard for me to be recognized.”
Geno tilts his head in the way Sid knows means he didn’t understand completely. “I didn’t want people to know who I am.”
“Same me. Patrick look so - “ Geno looks frustrated, waving a hand at Sid’s face and hair. “Not you. I’m not know.”
“When did you know?”
“Laugh,” Geno says, a soft smile spreading across his face. “But no words. English stupid.”
Sid laughs a little at that, looking down at his glass of water. “I thought about you a lot after I came home.”
“Yes. Most pretty boy.” Geno traces a finger over Sid’s jaw lightly and Sid’s eyes close. “Best dick. Best ass.”
Sid snorts out a laugh at that and opens his eyes to see Geno with his tongue between his teeth, grinning. He can’t help but grin back at him. “You seemed to enjoy it.”
Geno waggles his eyebrows at Sid and tilts his head towards the door. “Max not come to room tonight. Go again?”
Sid knows it’s a bad idea. They’re teammates now. It’s not like it was this summer. He knows that he and Geno are going to be tied together for years to come. Sex absolutely could ruin it.
But he’s also 19 and Geno’s offering and he knows exactly how good the two of them are together in bed.
Sid stands up and grabs Geno’s hand. “Let’s go.”

os novel excerpt #2
“Then we have a deal. You’ve given me your word — wherever I am when that time comes, I’ll be trusting in you to take care of Wu Wenxuan.”
another part from the last case that i rly liked, for @greenjudy — takes place after lu li’s police badge has been suspended. chi zhen’s just asked him questions about wwx’s case + driver wang, which ll evaded. source on p.314-315. as usual, all emphasis is mine.
“If it’s not him, then who is it?” Chi Zhen muttered to himself.
Lu Li looked over at Chi Zhen. “You’re the officer now, not me. And, your car is over there.”
Chi Zhen was still caught up in his thoughts. “Then why were you following him? Drive me to the docks.”
“Where?” Lu Li asked, taken off-guard.
Chi Zhen repeated himself. “The docks.”
Lu Li pointed at Chi Zhen’s car, but Chi Zhen didn’t budge. “I need to talk to you about how to handle Wu Wenxuan’s case.”
Lu Li’s car drove slowly towards the docks. As they approached, they began to see the faint outlines of ferries in the distance as Chi Zhen finished up his thoughts with a last few remarks.
“When we get to that point, I’ll have to ask you to take the stand as a witness. Even though I can’t work as a lawyer anymore, I can still predict every question the prosecution will ask you and plan for it — but you’ll have to prepare yourself, because they’ll definitely be even more ruthless than ever before.”
Lu Li stopped the car. “You really think Wu Wenxuan can be released in five years?”
“Five years at the most — three years, if all goes well.”
Lu Li thought aloud to himself as he did the math. “In five years, Yinuo won’t even be ten years old yet. That’ll work — I’ll have to ask you to be our lawyer, then. You don’t have to pay me back for your mom’s surgery. We’ll call it even with this.”
Chi Zhen nodded. “Alright, then I give you my word — I won’t even need you to sign a contract.” He got off the car, ready to leave, but Lu Li called after him.
“Then we have a deal. You’ve given me your word — wherever I am when that time comes, I’ll be trusting in you to take care of Wu Wenxuan.”
Chi Zhen didn’t understand his meaning. “What do you mean ‘wherever you are?’ Where are you planning to go?”
Lu Li didn’t reply, starting his car and driving away.

Hey, I don't know if you take asks but I'm kinda new to bl and don't really know where to start so I was wondering if you had any recommendations for bl dramas/movies? Also I just wanted to say I love your blog and thing you're amazing! 😊❤️👍 Bye bye. 👋
Hello Anon! I absolutely take/answers asks! And this is one I am happy to answer!
Depending on your tastes, I will suggest a few for you. See what you like! If you don’t like something, don’t feel bad about it at all.
BL Dramas:- SOTUS: Kongpob is an Engineering freshman and at his university, they follow SOTUS which is supposed to be a method of hazing and forging bonds between classmates and juniors/seniors. Arthit is the head hazer and this is the story of how they fall in love.
- Love by Chance: Pete is a rich IC Program freshman who is being blackmailed for being gay since he’s not out to his mom yet. He is helped by and falls in love with Ae, a poor Engineering Thai Program freshman. There are actually 4 pairings in this drama, but AePete and TinCan are the only ones who get any real screen time and don’t deal with r*pe. If you’d like to avoid those pairings, several people have made posts with sections of the episodes to skip. You literally do not miss much because these guys got like 1% of total screen time.
- HiStory 2: Crossing The Line - Xia Yu Hao is a troublemaker and doesn’t like authority. He is forced to join the volleyball team where he meets their team manager Qiu Zi Xuan. After watching Qiu Zi Xuan play and learning more about him, Xia Yu Hao begins to develop feelings for him. The other pairing is two step-brothers Wang Zhen Wen and Wang Zhen Wu and how they struggle to come to grips with their feelings for each other.
- 2 Moons: Yo has been in love with Pha ever since high school. He ends up going to the same college as Pha, but Pha doesn’t even seem to remember him. Yo ends up picked as the “Moon” of the Science Faculty and has to compete to be Campus Moon. It is during this competition that their love story continues to unfold. Meanwhile, Yo’s friend Ming begins chasing Pha’s friend Kit.
Your mileage will vary with any of these. 2 Moons is getting rebooted so you can choose to wait for the reboot if you like and watch it without the “actor” who ruined everything. SOTUS has two seasons (SOTUS and SOTUS S) but I didn’t finish watching SOTUS S and a majority of people I’ve talked to are not thrilled about the way the key characters were portrayed. Love by Chance and HiStory 2: CTL are really the best dramas on this list.
For things I haven’t watched, but are looking REALLY GOOD RIGHT NOW, I would like to suggest that you join the hype for HiStory 3: Trap and watch it when it comes out in two days. SO MANY TROPES AND ALL OF THEM LOOK AMAZING.
I also recommend He’s Coming To Me, a story of a boy who falls in love with a ghost. It also has Ohm (who acted in Make It Right) and Singto (acted as Kongpob in SOTUS). They look like they have tons of chemistry!
Special mentions to Waterboyy the Series and Make It Right just because they exist, but aren’t very good/are problematic. But if you’re a fan of the actor Newwie, then watch Waterboyy because he’s topless SO MANY TIMES. If you continue to love Newwie like the rest of us, watch Kiss Me Again the series. But I really recommend watching the PeteKao cuts because I watched 5 min of an uncut episode and wanted to die.
BL Movies:- Almost anything by Strongberry: Okay look, Strongberry is a short film producing company in South Korea. They make AMAZING LGBTQ+ content. All their short films are about LGBTQ+ relationships. A majority are mlm, but they have a recent one that is wlw. I highly recommend watching Long Time No See (assassin falls in love with cute guy who works at his sister’s restaurant), Some More (City guy gets hurt riding his bike out in the country and falls for a farmer who helps him get better), and My Pistachio (Guy is trying to find the words to confess to his senior in the drama club/drama production company?). I also suggest supporting their content by watching their videos on Vimeo. Yes, you will have to pay, but it’s worth it to support independent creators of LGBTQ+ content and it’s not very expensive. If you absolutely cannot spare the cash, then I would understand looking for not-official links. But if you can, please watch official and support them!
- The Moment (Thai movie): This is actually a movie about 2 straight and 1 gay relationship. However, all of them are slightly intertwined and happen at the same time. It is entirely possible to watch a cut with only the gay relationship though (Mr Kim and Korn). They have an interesting progression to their relationship and the ending works. I’m a little mixed since I watched the entire movie and not a cut, but see how you feel.
There are plenty of other options out there Anon! But I hope you like some of the things I’ve presented here. If any of my followers know of other good recs, put them as a comment!

NAME: Zhen Yue ‘Luna’ Liu
PRONOUNS: She/Her
FACECLAIM: Natasha Liu Bordizzo
AGE: 182
SPECIES: Noble Vampire
OCCUPATION: Unemployed
BIOGRAPHY:
There were 3 things to know about Luna Liu.
1. Her grandfather was the devil reincarnate. She was positive of it.  2. She didn’t need anyone for anything, she could do everything herself.  3. Her mother was her whole world.
To the outside world, Zhen Yue was the product of secrecy and shame, and her grandfather wasted no time reminding those who would listen that fact. Most of Luna’s memories of the man were filled with backhanded compliments on her behalf, and downright despicable behavior toward her mother. As she grew, and learned the reasoning for this, she only despised him more.
The respect for her mother though, grew to levels that she didn’t even think we’re manageable. As a young adult, she knew that she was the product of her mother’s happiness, her mother’s own free will and downright defiance to a man who felt he could control her. It was empowering to say the least. She could put up with the taunting, teasing, and whispers for that. The comments on her skin tone, her blood line, her worth most of the time fell on deaf ears. It was she and her mother against the world.
Try as her mother may have, Luna still felt the effects of the stigma around her. Her grandfather didn’t seem to hide her status. It felt like everyone around her knew. Zhen Yue kept to her books. She enjoyed reading and didn’t have many friends growing up. Books filled that void. She could read about far off places when the present moment wasn’t what she wanted.
Shortly after her 18th birthday, Luna had her first kill. Well- kills. It’s a day that haunts her still. It was entirely accidental, and out of anger and fear, though she’d never mention that. A group of her peers, all human- with arguably too much knowledge of their family- was taunting her, one of them took the book from her hands that was a gift from her mother, and began tearing pages while the others stood and watched. It took seconds for her to react, snapping his neck like nothing more than a toothpick, saving what was left of the book in the process. Tossing that one to the side, she then began to tear into the others, killing the group of 6, but the 7th threw her off guard. She froze, staring at the other woman’s eyes, the human was clearly in shock, and rooted to her spot. It took her a second, taking in the damage she had done. There was a lot of - well a lot of blood. With a gentle step toward the other, she glamoured the human into giving her her own sweatshirt, coving the mess on her own clothes, and told her to go to the authorities with the story of an animal attack. She let her mother know when she got home, clearly mad at her self but to this day it is her own secret. She’s kept her emotions in check- to the best of her ability- since.
Her grandfather’s death was a metaphorical recess bell. With the old demon gone, Luna felt more comfortable leaving her mother alone. Her mom could do as she wants, no one needed protecting. She took off, and has never looked back. As an adult, Luna loves to travel. She enjoys the big cities, the ones so wrapped up in their own cultures that she immerses herself in them. She has a knack for meeting people now, but still wouldn’t consider any friends. She doesn’t truly trust men, as her biggest “role model” was her grandfather. She’d love to meet the man her mother has spoke so highly of, her birth father, but her guard will always be up. You can’t get hurt if you don’t let them in.

You didn't see that coming? Pietro x Pregnant!OC
"You're vhat?!" Pietro screamed, utterly shocked and unable to control his volume.
Lillian swallowed hard, not expecting her husband's reaction to be like this, "I-I'm pregnant Pietro. W-we're having a baby," she confessed once again to her pale and shaking husband. "I...I'll just go..." She said before turning to flee their level of the tower, tears threatening to spill over. Damn hormones. A blue blur prevented Lili from leaving, then Pietro swept her up into a tight hug, but not tight enough to cause any harm to their child.
"Printsessa, zhis is vonderful! Ve're having a baby! I love you so much Lillian. Zhank  you," Pietro said happily.
The speedsters wife simply giggled and hugged him back, "So you wanna have this baby with me?"
Pietro set the red head down before getting on his knees and kissing across her still flat stomach, "Of course I do. I love you. And I vill love our little superhero. Ve have to tell zhe ozhers!" The excited man zoomed out of their shared bedroom and Lili could hear him shouting, "I'M GOING TO BE A DAD!"
*****
"But Director Fury, Lili has a doctors appointment today. Ve get to find out vhat our baby is! I vant to be zhere for her!" Pietro shouted, stomping his foot like a child.
"I'm sorry. But you're needed on this mission. The faster you go the faster you get back to Lillian." Fury said before walking away. Quicksilver growled darkly before speeding off to the Quinjet, hoping to return in time to discover the gender of his child.
Lillian watched Pietro speed off to the plane before she sat down on their bed. She didn't want to find out what the baby was without her husband there, so she got up and went to Tony and Bruce's lab.
"Uhm, Bruce? Are you in here?" Lili asked, hesitantly stepping into the lab. She'd once walked in on the science bros when they were doing an experiment and was nearly blown to bits. The brunette stopped tinkering with whatever it was and smiled at her, "Hi Lili. Weren't we going to do your ultrasound in an hour?"
"Yes but...I was going to see if we could wait until Pietro came home. I want him to be with me when we find out what our baby is. If it's ok with you." She asked, lightly skimming her slender fingers over her small three month pregnant belly.
"Of course. If I'm not in here when you two wanna do it then I'm probably with Nat. But I don't have any plans on leaving the tower today, so I'll be easy to find." Bruce assured her.
A grin stretched across her face as she hugged the man, "Thank you so much! Pietro will be thrilled he didn't miss this! How can I ever thank you?" Laughing, he hugged her back, "Well, if you feel up to it an apple pie would be nice."
"One apple pie coming up." With that, she skipped out of the lab and into the kitchen where she set to work making the homemade apple pie for Bruce. It was a simple enough task but took her longer than normal because everytime the baby moved she would press her hands to her stomach, eagerly awaiting the first kick. Unfortunately, the baby still refused to kick for her. Maybe they would once their father came home.
It was around 2 in the morning when Pietro finally got back home. He sped off to the floor he shared with Lili expecting to find her in her usual sleeping position, sprawled across the bed in only his t-shirt with her hands laid protectively on her belly. But he was surprised to see his wife still awake. She was sitting in their living room, watching  The Nightmare Before Christmas and munching on jalapeno chips dipped in maple syrup.
"Uh...printessa? Vhat are you still doing up? And vhat in zhe vorld are you eating?" Pietro asked, sitting beside his wife and wrapping his arms around her middle.
"Hi sweetie! We were waiting for you to get home so we could do the ultrasound. And this," she gestures to her snack, "is possibly the greatest thing I've ever eaten. Our child has wonderful taste dearest."
"You didn't have to vait for me. But I've very glad you did. Ve vill do it tomorrow?" he asked, rubbing his thumbs across her stomach. Lili looked up at him and opened her mouth to tell him the good news but stopped when she noticed the black eye and large bandage on his forehead, "Pietro! What happened?!" She cupped his face in her hands and watched him carefully.
"It's nozhing. Zhey just got lucky, zhat's all. You don't need to be vorried about me. I am fine and stress isn't good for you and zhe baby. Now, vhat vere you going to tell me?" he asked, pleased when the worry slipped from her eyes and was replaced with pure joy.
"We can do the ultrasound now! Bruce said we could wait until you came home, so let's go!" Lili exclaimed, bouncing in her seat.
The older Maximoff chuckled, "Darling, it's 2 am. Zhe Dr. is probably asleep. Ve can vait." Lillian shook her head, "No ve von't," she mocked, "I want to know what our baby is and you've had a rough day so this is just the thing you need to make it better. Please Pietro?"
Seeing his wife giving him the puppy dog look while holding his hands to her stomach so he can feel the child rolling around was enough to convice the man to risk waking up the Hulk. Taking Lili's hand he leads her down to the lab where he instructs her to wait for him and before she can protest her husband's already sped off.
In no time he had returned with a very sleepy, disheveled Bruce, "I got him Printessa. Now vhat?"
Bruce sighed and started to set the machine up, "Lili would you please lie back and pull your shirt up?" Lili did as he instructed then Bruce spread the gel across her baby bump and started moving the wand over her stomach.
Lillian and Pietro released the breaths they didn't know they were holding when they heard the sound of their child's heartbeat.
"They have a very strong and steady heart rate. They're at the right size too and I see no defects or anything that will be a complication. So all in all, you have a very healthy daughter," Bruce announced, overjoyed for his friends.
"Printessa...ve're having a daughther. A little girl," Pietro said to Lillian, his eyes filling up with tears.
Lillian pulled her husband down for a hard kiss, "I love you Pietro. And our daughter."
*****
"Vhy von't she kick? I zhought Bruce said she vas healthy. Is zhere somezhing vrong vith her?!" Pietro asked his very sleepy wife worriedly.
"Pietro, I love you. I love that you love our daughter so much, but dear, she's healthy. She just wants to make her daddy wait because he's so very impatient."
He sighed, "I love you too Lili but I don't vant to vait! I vant my kick!" He crossed his arms and pouted like a child.
Lili shook her head at her husband's antics before curling up under the covers, "You wait for your kick then. I'm exhausted. So goodnight Mr. Maximoff."
"Goodnight Mrs. Maximoff, I love you." Lili was asleep before the words left his mouth. He felt bad for exhausting her. His constant fussing over what she did or ate or if the baby was kicking. And he knew being childish about the girl's refusal to kick wasn't helping his wife at all. But Bruce said she should be kicking around the third or fourth month and Lillian was a few days away from her fifth month.
The man sighed again before cuddling his wifes tired body to his chest, his hands slowly gravitating to her bulging middle, "Please kick. Your mom and I are vaiting. And I don't like vaiting sweetie. So please kick for us..."
After waiting for about thirty minutes, he gave up for the night and drifted off to sleep. He was awoken by Lillian shaking him frantically, "Pietro! Wake up!"
Startled, he shot out of bed, ready to defend his family, "Vhat?! Vhat's vrong?!"
"She...she kicked.. Our daughter kicked.." she whispered, placing his hands on her stomach. He only had to wait a few seconds before he felt her foot kicking at his hand.
Tears gathered in his wide eyes, matching his wifes green ones, "I love you both so very much.  I don't know vhat I did to deserve you two but I'm so glad I did it. But you need your sleep printessa."
His wife curled back up in his arms, falling asleep instantly again, while Pietro stayed up all night, enjoying the feel of his daughter rolling around and kicking his hands.
*****
"Vhat about Susie? Or Tabizha? Or Karla?"
"Eww no Piet. I like Lily. Or Pearl. Or Beatrice." Lillian suggested as Pietro massaged her swollen feet.
"You really zhink zhat Beatrice, vhich is an old lady name, is better zhan Karla?" he scoffed.
"You don't like my suggestions?" she asked, on the verge of tears, again.
He sighed, Lillian was in her seventh month and her hormones made her irrational and unpredictable. "I do. I just...don't zhink zhose names are right for our princess."
She dries her eyes, "Oh, I'm sorry Pietro. Well...how about naming her after an actual princess? Like a Disney Princess?"
Her husband beamed, "Zhat's a good idea. I like Ariel zhen."
Lillian thought long and hard before she hugged Pietro tight, "I love it! Our little Ariel Maximoff. She'll be perfect!"
Pietro laughed as he hugged his wife and felt his daughter kick, "She vill be. Just like her mozher."
*****
"Directer Fury you can't be serious! Lillian could go into labor any day now. Vhy can't one of zhe ozher Avengers do zhis mission? I need to be here for my vife for vhen Ariel is born!" Pietro screamed, furious beyond belief.
"You have to go. Just hope your daughter holds off long enough for you to complete this mission." And he walked away, again.
Quicksilver sighed before speeding off to the Quinjet. It was way too early for Lillian to be up, so he figured he could complete his mission and be back home before too late in the day.
The mission was simple enough, a few remaining HYDRA agents he needed to eliminate but it had taken him a lot longer than he expected. Once back on the Quinjet he checked his phone, since he'd had to leave it in a rush. He wanted to keep it on him in case something happened to Lili. Upon looking at his device, he found he had 37 missed calls from Lillian.
Panicing, he called her back. And she didn't answer. He quickly started the jet and called Bruce on his way back.
He answered on the fourth ring, "Pietro! Lillians been trying to call you all day. She's in labor!"
"SHE'S IN VHAT?! HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO GET ZHERE?!" He could hear Lili screaming in pain, "Bruce! She's coming!"
"Not long!" The call disconnected. With his heart hammering in his chest Pietro pushed the jet to its limits. He had to get to his wife. He had to see his daughter born. He had to get there, he just had to!
Much to his displeasue it took him two hours to get back to the Avengers tower. But once he did, he tore through there on his way to the lab. Bruce was waiting outside what he assumed was Lillians room.
"Vhere is she? Are zhey ok?" He asked breathlessly.
"Lillian and Ariel are fine. No complications during birth. Ten fingers, ten toes. Her name fits her too," Bruce told him.
"Vhy does it fit?"
"Go see for yourself. Just be quiet. They were asleep when I left."
Once Bruce moved out of the way Pietro walked (at a normal pace) into his wife's 'hospital' room. Lillian was asleep but the little bundle in pink was wide awake and making all sorts of squeaking and gurgling noises. Pietro slowly went to his daughter and carefully lifted her into his arms. He now saw why Bruce said her name fit her. The little patch of hair on her head was bright red, just like her mothers. And her eyes were a bright blue, just like his.
"Oh Ariel, you're so beautiful. Just like your mozher. I'm so happy you're here. I vant you to know you and your mom are my vorld. I vill do anyzhing to make sure you know how much I love you both. I vill do anyzhing to keep you both happy and safe. I don't know vhere I vould be vithout you two. I love you, my sweet little Ariel. My little princess."
"Pietro...you're so sweet," Lillian said, watching the new father bond with his daughter. The speedster carefully hands his daughter to Lillian before sitting behind his wife and cradling the two most important women in his life to his chest.
"I meant it. I love you both. You two are my vorld. I vouldn't know what to do vithout you two."
"And we love you two Pietro. You are our world too. My life would be meaningless without you," Lillian confessed, causing her husband to blush a tiny bit. "What? Didn't see that coming Pietro?"

the firmament of the pleiades – midway musings
(Or, in other words: I intended to post about The Pleiades earlier, yet procrastinated until I ended up about halfway through. Specifically, at the time of writing I am at episode 12 of 28.)
Depicted above is a seemingly benign scene – Emperor Guangxu’s beloved Consort [at this point in time, Concubine] Zhen (Lemon Zhang) trying her hand in court painting under the tutelage of late Empress Dowager Cixi (Yuko Tanaka). But things are never so simple – even Cixi’s lessons and compliments are lined with terse warnings: in the Forbidden City, never think too highly of yourself. (And if you know how the history goes …)
The year is 1889, and at the ripe age of 18, Emperor Guangxu (Zhang Bo) is finally allowed to assume full powers as rightful ruler. But with the Qing Dynasty in major decline, with foreign threats and influences, a weakened military, ludicrous palace spending, the rise of the noveau riche, as well as Cixi’s unwillingness to so easily hand over power, we’re really in here for a long ride.
As a rather well-known and well-documented period of history, admittedly I find it shocking that there haven’t been many hit dramas and movies depicting the dramatic occurrences revolving around the second-to-last reign of the Qing Dynasty – a time filled with both court splendor and major foreign influence, not to mention the almost fairy-tale tragic love story between Emperor Guangxu and Consort Zhen that quite nearly spells the perfect formula for hit cdrama. But The Firmament of the Pleiades, though not perfect, is most definitely a masterfully directed and relatively objective, authentic taste into the doomed time period.
Rather than take a side in depicting the tense and fearful relationship and power plays between the Emperor and Empress Dowager, The Pleiades actually brings focus to an unexpected bromance between newly appointed court minister Liang Wenxiu (Zhou Yiwei) and Cixi’s favored eunuch, Chun’er (Xu Shaoqun). Instead of pointing fingers at who may be right or wrong, the historical figures, as well as the two original protagonists (technically Wenxiu sort of does have a historical counterpart), in their own way represent conflicting ideals – the Emperor’s willingness to open up to reform (and I imagine, later on in the drama, Consort Zhen’s fascination with Western traditions and objects such as photography, as well as directly further encouraging reform) that clashes with Cixi’s far more traditional take, be it her shock at “Western” customs, universal education, and the Gregorian calendar, or even the way she so cleverly retains power through means of “political tutelage” – the way Qianlong supposedly did when he served as regent after passing the throne on to his son, Emperor Jiaqing – something she was willing to do because there was a precedent, as if it followed a tradition of sorts.
However, twelve episodes into the drama, we’re really still at a set-up of sorts, with all sorts of political machinations happening in the background as we witness “ordinary” things such as various traditions and rituals, and most especially some angst and relationship-building – a “calm before the storm” of sorts as Guangxu meekly and fearfully attempts to appease his adoptive mother, while princes, ministers, and eunuchs take sides in two clearly forming factions – all the while attempting to pretend that all is fine and dandy. While I squeal over all the drama going down while the Qing Dynasty is clearly increasingly weakening, here is what I’ve surmised (spoilers below the cut):
1. Easily one of my favorite things about The Pleiades is how they’ve so deftly fleshed out and humanized Empress Dowager Cixi. Cixi is really often depicted as an “evil, power-hungry” figure of sorts who supposedly brought about the fall of not just the Qing Dynasty but Imperial China itself. Through not allowing Guangxu’s 100 Days Reform, as well as her excessive spending, popular culture likes to blame her for the dynasty’s ultimate demise. Which isn’t necessarily completely false, and might happen in this show, too, but there are many other factors in play – including the various ministers, most prominently Rong Lu, who desperately need Cixi to remain in power so that they can continue their acts of corruption.
Yuko Tanaka is… amazing in her portrayal, and while I somehow find myself feeling compassionate for Cixi’s loneliness, her frustration at the confines of the court (in a way, she really has a more ambitious and rebellious personality, which is a fascinating dichotomy considering how traditional her values are), disappointment at how most people around her either hates and/or fears her, never for a moment does she feel whitewashed, and really still remains true to the depictions of history. There are also some intriguing questions of morality and how even she isn’t completely understanding of herself. Overall, if you want an objective look into Cixi, this is the drama for you.
2. Unfortunately, I almost get the feeling that Rong Lu ultimately ends up shouldering a good portion of the “evil deeds”. Current state of affairs almost feels like evil evil and greedy Rong Lu creating havoc throughout the already strained relations within the Qing Court, while the honorable 醇亲王 (Guangxu’s biological father/the seventh prince of the previous reign) tries to do good, and while I love watching the political maneuvers here, I just think more nuanced characterization of the court ministers would actually really improve things even more. I also foresee Rong Lu screwing things up with Guangxu’s shifu Yang Xizhen and Wenxiu.
3. Speaking of flat characterization, I find that both protagonists Wenxiu and Chun’er can easily be placed into “earnest cinnamon roll” category. Both Wenxiu and Chun’er are really likable, and Chun’er especially I find really hard to not adore (I didn’t take screenshots, but Chun’er is just SO. CUTE.), but there’s really little meta that I can offer about both of them.
Wenxiu’s motivations were clear-cut from his entire backstory (his biological mom is a literal saint), though his current angsting with “Madame Zhang”, as well as his overall political involvement does allow him more credibility as a character. However, his entire narration feels so very extra, to the point where I feel like rolling my eyes. I was never particularly keen on shipping him and Madame Zhang (Yin Tao) together (though Madame Zhang herself is awesome!!!), and I really feel like part of the reason for that is the extraneous narration. Things like: “that very instant I laid my eyes upon her, I knew we were fated” (I know I’m making this up, but like actually), or “I don’t even know her name, but I know her more than others”, and somehow I wish the show wasn’t so upfront about it. Perhaps it would be better if they allowed us to interpret the signs of attraction ourselves.
While Chun’er is ridiculously adorable, there’s no denying that he’s essentially a Mary Sue (Gary Stu), so far with really little meaningful character development. He’s good at, like, everything probably, except I guess sleazily maneuvering the Qing court, and also is a well-meaning moderator. Honestly, I can completely see why Eunuch Li (not him, of course, the older one – also, is it just me or have all the recent dramas I’ve watched featured a prominent Eunuch Li of sorts? First there was Li Fuguo is The Glory of Tang Dynasty, and then Li De Fu in Legend of the Dragon Pearl, and now even The Firmament of the Pleiades.) finds him irritating. But, like, even when he found out about his first shifu “Lao De Zi”, as well as Cixi, using him for the 龙玉 (“Dragon Jade” – more on that later), he just completely accepted such with zero frustrations or grudges on his part.
4. So there’s a supernatural element to this show. Well, for one, this is called The Firmament of the Pleiades, or, more literally, The Firmament: The Pleiades, referring to Chun’er’s special star, and how his fate is somehow tied to this “Dragon Jade”. Supposedly it’s a treasure of sorts that gave legitimacy to the Qing Dynasty, but was lost during the latter part of Emperor Qianlong’s reign, which was *gasps* about when Qing began to decline.
Herein lies the more questionable execution of the show, be it the creepy Twilight Zone-like background score, the ridiculously campy and dramatic zoom-ins (I tend to giggle), or how Cixi’s vision with Qianlong in the temple quite nearly blinded me (with the way they used the backlight to create a “supernatural aura” and to hide Qianlong’s face). However, I do love how the show questions whether Cixi really wants the “Dragon Jade” for herself or the Qing Dynasty.
Also, how unsubtle! at how even upon 醇亲王’s deathbed, he’s gasping for breath about the freaking “Dragon Jade”. What is the deal?
(They’ve also began to incorporate the notorious “curse of the Yehenara clan”. Interesting.)
5. Occasional questionable execution aside, this show is ridiculously gorgeous and refined. The sets and costumes are probably some of the most historically accurate I’ve seen to date. (Since photography existed at the time, the producers of this show were at a greater advantage.)
While I might complain about some of the camera-work, and I find it a pity that this was produced in 2010, since a production with improved lighting and clarity would have been simply amazing, most of the camera angles are gorgeously deliberate. From the way the camera follows a person from behind, as if lost or in great tension, or the way it focuses down from above, creating a suffocating space, to how it shifts from Guangxu to Cixi, always there behind the curtain, I find myself squealing in excitement more often than not.
6. There’s more Ling’er in this than I expected. To all the Zhao Liying fans: this is worth watching! Ling’er actually manages to make an appearance about at least once per 1 or 2 episodes, which I find rather impressive. So far, as the younger sister of Chun’er, she hasn’t seen that much character development either, but her character has to deal with a major shift in changing social classes – that moment when she was perceived as a mere servant, even though she was really supposed to be Wenxiu’s little sister was very nicely included.
7. It’s a really nice way for me to improve my Chinese. Since I’m stuck at that point where most other cdramas tend to not teach me that much.
愿君多采撷 此物最相思 refers to the “red beans”, or the 相思豆 that grow on trees.
Overall, though flawed at times with more flat and obvious characterization of the side male characters, this is a very solid show that I’m excited to see more of. (For a moment I was slightly disappointed at a lack of Guangxu x Consort Zhen so far, but judging from the credits they’re going to be angsting a lot in the latter half.)
Miscellaneous:
Rumors are flying everywhere that (either) Zhang Bo (or Yang Shuo) is to portray the male lead in Zhao Liying’s upcoming drama Do You Know? Do You Know? It Ought To Be A Red Flower Among The Green Leaves. If so, I’ll definitely be looking forward to a nice reunion between the actors, even if Ling’er most probably never gets a chance to ever meet the Emperor.
Opinion: Zhang Bo low-key looks like Hu Ge from some angles? But I would imagine Hu Ge being hotter in the Qing queue – so very sorry.

Okay so like.. I don't want to stress anyone because I'm already stressed enough but I really do need to talk about it. I'm really scared that creators might choose Shi De to have some sort of terminal illness. It's because of those hospital bills but also in credit scenes when Shu Yi hides his face on Shi De's shoulder while he's hugging him Shu Yi seems very content while I sense some... worry in Shi De's gaze? Maybe I'm looking into it too much but it would make sense why he didn't contact Shu Yi. Tho I hope I'm just looking too much into it and it's just because of Shu Yi's dad.
????????????????????????????
This is gonna sound rude but, like, I seriously need to know what juice you were on when you thought of this asfghjkldi. Like ??? I will try to be as respectful as possible as I rebut ur thoughts & convince u otherwise.
Tumblr media
1. The name on the bill is ‘Troy A Cornelius’
This is probably his stepdad’s name unless Shi De changed his name into an English one. Even if he does change his name to English, I think he would still keep the initials of his Taiwanese name so, at the very least, SD should be in there somewhere.
2. It doesn’t make sense for Shi De to have a entirely new American identity
Shi De has always planned on coming back to Shu Yi and his family (his mom specifically bcs Zhen Xuan clearly said that Shi De’s here in his mom’s place) even has a goddamn company in Taiwan. Like,,, imagine all the ‘banana’ comments he’d get if his Taiwanese ass shows up at the office, in fckn Taiwan, with a name like ‘Troy A Cornelius’ asfghjkldi
3. The med bill: meperidine & promethazine
Meperidine is an opioid pain medication, sometimes called a narcotic. Promethazine is a sedative and anti-nausea medication. Meperidine and promethazine is a combination medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain. (x)
I’m not a medical professional (but, fun fact, my mom is lol) so I can’t say for sure that I know the correct usage of meperidine & promethazine or that their usage aren’t alarming but they seemed to be used for relieving pain & treating allergies, etc. and I think they can also be used as pre-medication for asthma... (Maybe @littlestellagibson can clarify? I’m overstepping my boundaries here but uh,,, forgive me,,, most of my med knowledge comes from my mom & the WebMD)
Troy A Cornelius was at the hospital for an emergency service level two which is usually for cardiac arrest or asthma attack (my knowledge of emergency room level is from my mom, who’s a doctor in a developing country... idk if the States operate with the same level as my country)
>>> So, I assume that Troy A Cornelius was suffering from an asthma attack... which Shi De clearly doesn’t have. (I think it would’ve come up by now if Shi De does have asthma.)

4. The hugging scene is probably connected to the scene where Shu Yi asked Shi De if he’s still the lucky one + them sleeping on the bed (i will collectively refer to these 2 scenes as ‘bed & box scenes’)
Obviously, the ‘bed & box scenes’ are connected... they’re wearing the exact same clothes. Also, the background of the ‘box scene’ is Shu Yi’s bedroom (the grey, brutalist wall of his bedroom + the black fixture/furniture that is in line with the interior design of Shu Yi’s current house).
And I dare connect the ‘hugging scene’ to the ‘bed & box scenes’ because they seem to be wearing the same clothes as that scene... especially Shu Yi (he’s wearing the short sleeves black t-shirt)
We’ve only seen Shu Yi in 2 black casual shirts so far... the short sleeves t-shirt & the long sleeves sweater. If u can’t tell which one he’s wearing in a scene, just look at the collar... the sweater’s collar is closer to the base of his neck & it has patterns.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus! Shu Yi seems to be sitting on Shi De’s lap (the difference in their heights despite the fact that they’re sitting so close) and Shu Yi looks like he’s sitting on Shi De’s laps as he hugs Shi De in the ‘hugging’ scene (Shu Yi's shoulders are clearly above Shi De's mouth & nose line).
So... yes, I do think these scenes are connected.
>>> I set up all these connections because I want to point out that the ‘bed & box scenes’ are extremely emotional.
Shi De’s literally crying into the pillow as he sleeps beside Shu Yi. Shi De’s literally sleeping on the same bed as the love of his life, in his room, right next to him and Shi De’s still fucking crying silently into the pillow and suffering in silence.
Meanwhile, Shu Yi is laying all of himself bare, once again, as he asked ‘is that luck still mine’. (I also assume that the box contains the bracelet... Shu Yi’s probably asking if he still has the right to have Shi De’s love and his promise of being in Shu Yi’s life & giving him happiness.)
So, if the ‘hugging scene’ is really connected to the ‘bed & box scenes’ or just the ‘box scene’ at the very least, it’s understandable that the both of them are emotionally compromised when they’re hugging. It’s understandable that Shu Yi is relief to know that he’s still the love of Shi De’s life and Shi De would feel guilty/shameful for hurting Shu Yi & making Shu Yi cries.
5. Lin Pei Yu
She’s the writer of WBL and she has never kill anyone off unnecessarily. Seriously. She might have written some questionable storylines for BLs  (History: obsessed + the pseudo-incest plot in History: Crossing the line) but everyone in her BLs lives and thrives with the promise of fulfilling romantic relationships.
Examples: she had a lot of opportunities, and legitimate reasons, to kill off Ah Fei in History: Trapped, but she didn’t. Her characters suffered from serious injuries but they don’t die. She even literally fckn wrote a BL where a dead man resurrected in his younger self so he can have a second chance (History: obsessed).
I think the boys are safe! So let's not add unnecessary stress on ourselves and enjoy the angst of adult-life and complicated (& useless) pride.
6. Talk of S3 &/or movie
There are many posts on IG (I only lurk on IG lol) saying that the cast & crew are seriously considering making a third season (and/or a movie) for WBL. There will be no talk of a third season if Shi De dies… Shu Yi & Shi De are the stars of the show, they’re not gonna kill off their moneymakers.
-
i also received another ask of a similar nature and I'm only answering once bcs i don't want that sort of negativity on my blog
Tumblr media
As for the ‘i saw people saying that Sam accidentally spoiled this in a live’, I’d like to see the posts about this spoiler & the vid of this live, preferably w/ eng sub ofc.

omg so GUESS WHO missed her chance to watch with subs because she had to go to WORK like a CHUMP but still decided to watch anyway and try to figure out what was happening?? this guy! the good news is that i can recognize all the characters’ names, so i know that there was a lot of talk about li zhen, and also zz talks about ah zhi when he’s drunk apparently?? okay here are my thoughts but not to worry, i will go into the tag after this and figure out what actually happened:
does dr. jiang have a bf? do he and his bf go on double dates with andy and his bf? they do now, as far as i’m concerned.
shaofei’s a little shithead for letting tang yi think there was something wrong lol
how is shaofei doing so well?? didn’t we see blood spurt out from the shot? he’s not even moving gingerly or anything and i think it must be the same day because tang yi’s still in the same outfit. not sure why tang yi is allowed to be at the hospital, but whatever.
did shaofei just say i love you??!?!?!??!
omg i LOVE that zhao zi is fated to walk in on tangfei in hospital rooms. name a more iconic sextet than shaofei, bullets, hospitals, tang yi, tang yi’s guilt, and zhao zi walking in on them, i’ll wait
idk what happened in the first zz/jack scene except 1) zz will not shut up about ah zhi, 2) i think he mentions his grandma? so mark that down on the bingo board, 3) he says “don’t go”, and then 4) they kiss and zz looks so happy and i am going to DIE. so did jack tell him he wouldn’t go if zz asked him not to or something? otherwise zz would still be sad, right?
i can tell we’re getting backstory in the chief scene but i don’t know what it is. too bad the bingo square isn’t “chief emotes” or this would count
no comment on shaofei’s wedding outfit, i’m sure others have gone there before me
i am extremely intrigued by the cwh tea scene. i know they’re talking about li zhen, and then they’re talking about tang yi, and shaofei gets really serious all of a sudden and says “yes, [term of address i’m not familiar with],” and cwh lightens the mood in some fashion, and then they’re HUGGING??? i am super invested in cwh’s whole arc at this point because he’s dark but he’s also a sympathetic character and so anyway i’m very curious about what’s going on here.
sure is awkward that shaofei has a better relationship with tang yi’s biological father than tang yi does! shaofei already had a close relationship with tang yi’s biological mom and now this? if i were tang yi i would totally develop a complex about it lmao
shaofei appears to be doing a lot of emotional labor in this episode, for at least three different people. serves you right for that mean prank in the hospital, asshole
tang yi says thank you to shaofei! i’m pretty sure no one’s getting a bingo this episode but i’m still like excited whenever i identify one of the squares haha
okay i hate to say this but...did the show want us to think zz was masturbating for a second there?
is jack...moving in????
wait i just checked the bingo board and we might actually have gotten everything in row 1?! are you seeing what i’m seeing???

History3 ep 13 summary - TUGS AT UR HEARTSTRINGS BUT it’s a good episode
I’m soooo tired but the energy has come again because of Trapped HAHAHAHA the thought of BIRTHDAY SCENE gives me strength to go on praying there is NO JAM on the live stream today we’ll see
OMG what the hell we don’t get a bed scene so the two bed scenes that the writers were talking about WE WILL GET THEM SOMETIME LATER it might be after birthday scene now that I think about it but also guys I think you’ll like this episode because the PLOT MOVES and there’s plot development thank god and we actually delve into serious stuff - the dilemma of Tang Yi as a mob boss and Shao Fei as a police officer finally comes into play here
Shao Fei runs off after Tang Yi kisses his wound (DAMN HE PRESSED HIS MOUTH TO THE WOUND FOR SO DAMN LONG?!) and asks if it still hurts and Tang Yi just laughs and says ‘he’s still too soft’ AND SHAO FEI IS LITERALLY HYPERVENTILATING IN THE TOILET THEN WE GET DOMESTIC SCENE - Tang Yi cooking in the kitchen for Shao Fei WITH AN APRON ON and Shao Fei is all: “it smells so good! is this the spicy dish we had with coke the other time?”
and wow BEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD JUST SMILES AND GOES: “you can’t have spicy food or coke while you’re recovering”
shao fei: *pouts* “you’re so stingy, controlling this and that”
DOMESTIC HUSBANDS THEY ARE RIGHT HERE GUYS!!!!!
so they sit down and cute shao fei takes a bit of the dish and puts it on tang yi’s rice first before eating himself (i LURVE THIS) - and tang yi obviously is kind of amused and touched that shao fei did that, and as they’re about to eat that’s when tang yi broaches the topic of shao fei staying at the police station because it’s safer for him there, and obviously shao fei is all ‘WHY?!’ and demands to know a reason and i thought they were gonna start fighting but thank god they’re both soft smol bbs so they just look at each other waiting for the other person to say something, and tang yi goes: “i’ll tell you, but you must promise to stay out of it. if you can’t promise me that, i won’t tell you”
so shao fei obviously agrees and tang yi starts the flashback by saying: “do you know what it’s like to grow up in a place where no one cares about and loves you? that’s the kind of place i grew up in”
AND YES HERE WE GET TANG YI AND BOSS TANG AND HONG YE BACKSTORY (still waiting for Shao fei’s COME ON) - This entire like flashback tugged at my heartstrings guys TUGGED AT MY HEARTSTRINGS I almost cried?!!! - So young Tang Yi was adopted by adoptive parents because the mom wanted to adopt him but the mom died, so the dad was never supportive of his wife adopting tang Yi and when she died he became neglectful and abusive
We start off with young Tang Yi going home and it’s his birthday but obviously the terrible dad doesn’t notice, but Tang Yi goes to his room and eats food and is about to eat cake in front of the photo of him and his mom - the dad comes into the room and he yells at tang yi for going into his room to steal the photo of him and his mom - tang yi says that it’s not his, it’s a photo of him and his mom
and the dad goes: “she’s not your mom and i’m not your dad!”
tang yi doesn’t get why he can’t have the photo and snarks back and the dad slaps him, and says a bunch of other stupid shit, so tang yi leaves home with literally just the clothes on his back and the backpack (can’t rmb if he took the photo or not) - and this scene was truly realistic, i felt that slap and everything so kudos to the actors playing young tang yi and the dad?!
then next scene: we see a super skinny hong ye fighting with a bunch of older male teens over the bicycle they stole, and tang yi is somehow there as well, and they end up fighting with the older teens - long story short, boss tang (tang guo dong) passes by with a SUPER YOUNG LOOKING DAO YI OMG?! and they help tang yi and hong ye out - boss tang tells them to hurry and go home, and hong ye just simply says: “i don’t have a home”
boss tang stares at them for a while, and although tang yi doesn’t say a thing you can tell by his clothes and dirty face that obviously he has been on the streets for a while as well? so boss tang is all: “you guys hungry? want to eat some food?”
tang yi, the cautious, smart boy who knows that most strangers are up to no good, says no, while hong ye who really is hungry, says yes
anw in the next scene boss tang and tang yi are eating at the table alone - although tang yi isn’t eating (and boss tang mentions that hong ye has already eaten three bowls of rice), so boss tang leaves tang yi to eat by himself and give him some space while he goes check on hong ye to see whether she’s gone for a shower yet
a year or less later, we see tang yi coming home to the house, and boss tang is cooking dinner - it looks fucking delicious btw and i haven’t eaten dinner so jfc i really wanted to reach into the screens for those golden fried mantous (buns) - anw, tang yi is holding onto a little box that is definitely a cake for his birthday and boss tang tells him that dinner is ready so he can come down after he’s put away his stuff - much later, the sky is dark and they’re eating already and BOSS TANG says there’s one more dish and then switches off all the lights, much to tang yi’s confusion
then boss tang comes out with a cake!!!! omg sweetest thing ever - after that they sit at the couch and make playdoh or clay figurines of ‘old tang’ and ‘little tang’ - it’s the cutest shit i’ve ever seen
so while tang yi is reminiscing all of this, he says: “boss tang gave me my first home, my first birthday etc. etc.” - basically boss tang gave him the home he never had, and then he says to shao fei: “but on that day four years ago, i watched him bleed to death in front of me - can you imagine in that moment i lost everything, and my life was ruined? do you think i can let the person who did this go?”
shao fei: “so that’s why you said you didn’t know anything, because you were waiting to take revenge yourself”
then: “tang yi, the best punishment for that person is to get justice under the law”
and of course tang yi insists that he will never ever give this person to the police, he WILL take revenge by his own hands - and shao fei dishes out what probably is the most realistic line in this entire damn show (and one that i think we’ve all been waiting for): “but tang yi, you know that if you take revenge on your own, as a police officer, i will have to catch you?”
and OMG THE HEARTBREAK BETWEEN THEM BOTH!!!! tang yi’s eyes are already watery and he just says: “you do what you need to do. i do what i need to do”
GOSH COULD THEY BE ANYMORE HEARTBREAKING LIKE WE BARELY JUST GOT THE HAPPY PARTS TWO EPISODES AGO?!! (and though i say that i think this episode was about time, because we really needed to move on the plot!!!!)
the next scene we get zhao zi asking online on a forum “what to do when a guy confesses to another guy” AND OMFG THIS IS HILARIOUS he gets the following responses:
“welcome to a whole new world”
“rmb to prepare some VASELINE”
#gaypanic!!!!!
LIKE WOW chinese netizens, you guys are real damn helpful?!!!! HAHAHAHHAA anw i totally died at the vaseline part and the funniest thing was zhao zi, at work, was READING THE RESPONSES OUT ALOUD like did you want the entire police station to know that jack, a well-known gangster and criminal, wants to bang you? and then yu qi who sits next to him (she’s recovered at least on the surface and moving on with her life ATTA GIRL YOU GO!!!) gives him the WHAT THE FUCK look at the things he’s saying - then zhao zi goes to shao fei and asks him the same thing, but shao fei was the one who confessed in this case, and zhao zi just shook his head and goes: “irrelevant, totally irrelevant”
then we move to tang yi’s house!!! omgggg TANG YI LOOKS DAMN FINE WITH THOSE EARRINGS AND THAT WHITE TURTLENECK i would like to thank the wardrobe in charge for picking out tang yi’s HELLA FINE CLOTHES
anw, hong ye and dao yi are there to discuss work, and she’s obviously still mad at dao yi, and tang yi then peruses some files on the project they’re on and picks a company - hong ye is like: “are you sure? they’ve only been around for 5 years”
and tang yi goes on and on about how he thinks the founder of the company is a good and capable person, and that hong ye should meet him because for work, and also secondly, because the founder actually told tang yi that he kind of liked hong ye at a party previously (so anw this founder is the guy we saw in the previews) - and then obviously dao yi is not happy about it and tells tang yi not to do that, but tang yi reminds him that: “if you keep on regretting, you’re going to miss her and you will miss this chance forever”
ah de turns up then and tells tang yi that chen wen hao has invited him for tea next week and tang yi says: “i’ll be there” - ah de tries to discourage him from gg but we all know that tang yi is doesn’t usually listen to ah de so he ignores him
the next scene: tang yi opens the box and we see the birthday hat from his first birthday with boss tang and the clay house he made when he was younger that represented the home that boss tang gave him, and he says to himself: “a year has passed again, happy birthday (to himself)”
AND YES LI ZHEN JIE AND BOSS TANG HAVE THE SAME EXACT BOX THAT THEY GAVE TO SHAO FEI AND TANG YI SO THEY ARE DEFINITELY CONNECTED AND EVERYTHING I really can’t wait to see how it all plays out!!!
anw we’ll get all the crazy scenes like the drugging part and the knifing parts PLUS BIRTHDAY SCENE TOMORROW - everything exciting is only happening tmr so let’s all prepare for death tomorrow friends!!! i’m just glad they’re moving things along but i’ve really got no idea how they’re gonna squeeze:
1. dao yi and hong ye
2. jack and zhao zi
3. tang yi and shao fei being happy and all and omelette scene and DOMESTIC HUSBANDS
4. slightly more backstory to reveal the incident four years ago
5. tang guo dong + li zhen storyline briefly at least
6. li zhen and shao fei relationship
... all in the next 7 episodes, which is like about 3 hours worth of screen time, i really got no idea
i really liked this episode though! really liked that we saw young tang yi and younger boss tang!!! <3
