Teen Titans Masterpost And Reading Guide -

This is mostly a passion project of mine about my favourite team in DC Comics The Titans ! The general consensus I have seen on this website is that their history is confusing and people don’t know where to start so …. This guide includes ALL ( worthwhile ) pieces of Titans Media .

Ok so this is heavily inspired by @bitimdrake ‘s guide so check that one too !

Just to preface this is all my opinion and you can really start wherever you feel like it if you want to ! Sound Good 👍🏻 Good

TEEN TITANS

Ok so before you begin the og TT series you should read

- Brave and The Bold ( 1955) #54 and #60 if you want to read right from the start chronologically!

The Original Team of the TEEN TITANS was a series that ran through the 60s beginning in 1966 - 1973 and having a comeback in 1976 .

The OG series consisted mostly Robin Wonder Girl Kid Flash and Aqualad with many a cameo from other teens.

You can either read the OG Series but its completely optional it’s pretty outdated and silly but it’s a fun ride even then . In my opinion its best to leave for after you have been endeared to the characters .

If you really enjoy the Silver Age Teen Titans there’s also Showcase #59 before Roy joins and a story in the 80 page Flash Giant ! And after reading issue #20 you can also read #83 of Brave and The Bold.

After #31 theres TBANB #94 and after #34 theres World Finest Comics #205 ( read at your own discretion - totally optional)

Aswell as BANTB #102 and #149

And the utterly delightful Teen Titans lost annual & A story ( worlds oldest teenagers ) in the 80 page Flash giant.

All optional ( they get really weird)

Alternatively just read TEEN TITANS : YEAR ONE .

NEW TITANS

By this point they remembered that “hey these guys aren’t teens anymore ” and thus renamed it to NEW TITANS . This series started off well enough and quickly devolved into arguably one of the worst runs EVER.

New Titans #81 is part of War Of The Gods and Annual 7 is part of Armageddon 2001 ( don’t bother ) annual 8 is part OF YET ANOTHER EVENT . Again don’t bother .

It’s pretty much highly recommend giving it up at #70 regardless .

Ok so I basically consider post OYL TT ‘03 to be a totally different team because… well it is . All of the NTT crew leave and are replaced by a handful of cameos and eventually like Rose Wilson and Kid Devil and because at this point half of the YJ gen is well…dead . It was pretty awful at this point though I find the character interactions endearing. This series remains like that until N52 .

E.G Bruce dying so Dick has to go be Batman and …. Hell . Fucking Rise Of Arsenal. If you know what happens in that book well yk that Roy ends up relapsing and going down a much darker mindset .

Series swings between being really good and being a mischaracterising MESS.

TITANS ( 2008 ) : VILLAINS FOR HIRE

So at issue 23 DC had the genius idea of taking the Titans and …. Turning them into a mercenary and hitman group lead by Deathstroke himself ( why ? I wish I fucking knew.) Filled out with hitman and villains and …. Roy who was now really dark and #edgy . Whatever It was bad and a wannabe secret six .

However they’re was almost light at the end of the tunnel …. Jericho ( Joey Wilson yes he IS ALIVE ) seemed to have plans to assemble a new TITANS team and reunite their family and Roy well it seemed he was on a path to redemption he was almost there close to moving to recovery and healing and he could do it with—

N52 . POST FLASHPOINT TITANS.

The N52 was bad isnt a particularly outrageous statement but IT WAS EXTREMELY fucking bad in relation to the Titans . Bluntly put None of it ever happened and the only titans ( TEEN TITANS ACTUALLY) that had ever existed were the TT2003 guys . Just them. Fab Five never existed. NTT never existed.And all of the other og TT guys were …… WALLY never existed. Donna was a one note villain Garth never existed Dick was …. There I guess.. ROY was a dumbed down alcoholic with no purpose other than to gawk at how cool and oh and ahh at Jason Todd . ( KORY …… truly just awful what happened to her )

You can read the TEEN TITANS N52 . I guess .

They have 2 series . Read at your own peril they’re better if you pretend that the characters aren’t supposed to be … like the characters that they are . ( scott lobbell shouldn’t of been allowed to touch a pen )

Drowned Earth happens ( not important) but it happens at #28 . And they have a crossover with Deathstroke in

Hey there, are you new to the Resident Evil fandom and want to know more about this weird blond guy with the sunglasses? Maybe you only play Dead by Daylight and want to know what his deal is without having to comb through a 20+ game series for his appearances? Are you trying to write a fanfic and can't think of anything for him to say, outside of constantly proclaiming his right to godhood?

Then have I got the resources for you!

(don't trust the fan wikis. They do things like claim that a man with one of the most Irish surnames in the world is Italian, just because his parents have some implied organized crime connections)

Ok now that you're in here I will reveal that the real purpose of this post is to spread the good word of original flavor Wesker, who I think is a really interesting villain with more complexity than people might expect. It doesn't look like Capcom is ever going to remake code veronica, which has a significant portion of his story, and there's a ton of his lore locked in a rail shooter most people never played, so I'm here to help fill in some knowledge gaps.

To start off, here is Wesker's Report 1. This is Wesker himself summing up the first 3 games for you, with glorious footage of the original playstation graphics:

Don't panic it's actually only 22 minutes long, the rest is an untranslated interview with the game directors.

Bam boom, you know what Wesker was doing from 1998 through 2000. Now let's step back in time a little and talk RE 0, the prequel game that explains how the outbreak that started it all happened in the first place. This is the story of Wesker and his buddy Birkin's past mistakes coming back to haunt them with a zombie-leech army (the past mistake in this case is disposing of your mentor's body improperly):

Stepping even further back in time we have Wesker's Report 2, which talks about his early years at Umbrella. This was only ever released in Japan, but fans have done a translation and gotten it voice-acted. This video has both the report and a compilation of all Wesker's scenarios in Umbrella Chronicles (the rail shooter this-is-the-story-so-far game):

It's long because it includes the gameplay footage. If you just want to read the report instead, google project umbrella Wesker's Report 2. You can also find UC's cutscenes separately on youtube. Wesker's scenarios are Beginnings, Rebirth, and Dark Legacy. UC condensed a lot of stuff and made some…odd story changes (especially to RE 3. Poor, poor RE 3), but it also added fun new stuff for Wesker to do, like beating up his creepy masochistic ex-boss. Godspeed, Wesker.

Now rumor has it that we are going to get Ada's campaign added to RE 4 remake eventually, but we don't have it yet, so until then here's their interactions from the original (lovingly updated to HD by fans):

RE 5 was Wesker's last (chronologically) and probably most significant appearance in the series, not to mention the version of him that's been everywhere since, but I'm not actually going to talk about him. To my eyes, RE 5 Wesker is a fun villain in his own right, he just isn't Wesker. He feels like a completely different character to me. If you've watched these videos you might have noticed this already.

RE 5, if you wish to give the writers the benefit of the doubt, is a story of Wesker having a complete mental breakdown after finding out certain retcons truths about his past. He's not usually like that. For one thing, count how many times he mentions being a god in any of this footage. Go on. I'll wait.

Classic flavor Wesker is calm, cold, and calculating. He loves pitting enemies against each other and then running off with the spoils. He does very little grandstanding and he's not all that hammy. He's pragmatic to a fault, and a master at shifting his plans around to work on the fly. He also doesn't give a flying fuck about eugenics, or "saving the world", he's in it for power and money and building better monsters just because he can. There. I said it. I feel better for it.

AITA for experimenting on my child assistant/daughter?

I don't think it's bad, but I've had people disagree.

I (30s, M) am a pharmacist and a doctor. After taking my mentor's place, I am the holder of a "power" that essentially saps my life power to give it to others who are sick. It feels like a curse. I don't wish for others to experience this, so I am trying to figure out the secret of immortality, so the cycle will end with me.

My assistant (chronologically ~100, 7 mentally and physically, F) is a zombie. She was killed, by accident, about a hundred years ago by some gods. They brought her back to life, as a zombie, and she is now immortal.

She has been in my care for quite some time. I accommodate her needs, from zombie-like ones (such as needing to avoid heat) and human ones (such as food/water/etc). These are termless; however, I have her help around the pharmacy as an assistant.

As she is immortal, I occasionally run smaller tests on her and take some samples to test for myself. Her sense of pain is dulled, so it doesn't (or at least I believe) hurt her. If she wished to not provide anything I've mentioned, I would not kick her out or anything of the sort — she is my daughter. I just happen to benefit from this. I don't think I'm using her.

So, AITA?

In a dra/sdra2 zombie apocalypse au, who dies/gets infected first, who was the one who spread it all, and who are the modt lilely to survive? (All on your opibion)

Well someone has been watching those infection Aus going around huh? I've been having a blast watching those but pulling the strings on who does what is a litte harder.

First off, here's how I'm going with the virus:

-Infection spreads only through bites, afterwards there are 4 stages the person goes through in the zombification.

-Stage 1: Starting stage after the person is bitten, they're still acting fine since the infection is just starting to settle in and hasn't started spreading much further from where the bite is. it's the only stage in which amputation can stop the virus from spreading, tho this needs to be done as quickly as possible after the bite.

-Stage 2: Virus is already running through the person's blood system and become very tired as their muscles begin to ache, they develop eyebags under their eyes and their skin starts becoming pale with a slightly greenish hue. This is the first stage in with the infected can spread the virus to another person, it's also where they start feeling hungrier than usual.

-Stage 3: The hunger is starting to become unbearable as the person's body begins rejecting most types of food, they can't sleep and now their skin has gotten greener with an itchy sensation all over. This is where the person's sanity really goes downhill and the decay of the body begins, all the scratching leaves open wounds that only get worse as the infection progresses.

-Stage 4: Final stage, by now the persons mind is completely gone and they're just mindlessly wandering around and trying to eat people to quench their hunger. They're the most aggressive in this stage, however it doesn't take much longer until the decay makes their bodies fall appart completely and the zombie dies of "natural causes" per say.

Anyways, this got really long so I'm putting it under the cut. Taking their chronological ages for this btw (Aka: Dra cast being younger than most of the Sdra2 people)

-Utsuro and Akane:

Utsuro was the patient zero of the infection, spreading the zombie virus as a way to throw the world in despair while remaining fine as his devine luck made him asymptomatic. Roaming around the desolately city watching the chaos unfold, always accompanied by his loyal servant; Akane Taira, who is by now a stage 3 zombie whose devine luck slows down the spread of her infection significantly and leads to her retaining most of her sanity.

She strives to be the perfect servant for her master, carrying out his orders and acting as a "bodyguard" of sorts. Sometimes she wonders if her former classmates manages to escape safely, other times she wishes to see them as decaying zombies.

-Since I'm talking about the luck people here's Nikei, Hajime, Emma and Iroha:

Their devine luck is steadily running out, looking for Utsuro is no longer an option with all these zombies around. The voids stick together in hopes that the remainder of their luck acts in unison and gives them a better shot at surviving this mess.

As their leader, Nikkei is always trying to think of safer ways to traverse the city and places for them to get supplies or steal steal from other survivor. He's stressed pretty much all of the time but tries to control his emotions to not end up lashing out at his friends, he doesn't always succeed. Hajime is the closest they have to a doctor due to his knowledge in health while Emma tries to get keep the group's morale so that they don't all go insane, not an easy task when her own sanity is starting to go down the drain.

They lost Iroha pretty early on, she was very scared, jumpy and paranoid, which led to her lashing out at Nikkei and the others out of frustration (sorta like she does in the void theater segment) then storming off where she was attacked and killed by a hoard of zombies. The remaining 3 voids swear to stick together and survive no matter what.

-Mikado and Kokoro:

Mikado was getting in contact with Kokoro for his future plans and when the zombie outbreak happened, he stayed by her side since they were pretty much stuck inside her laboratory for a while because of all the zombies outside.

Kokoro is scary smart, however, curiosity surely gets the best out of her. So she wants to study the zombies to see how they function, how the infection spreads and affects the body, maybe even try to find a cure in the way. She has chemical components, protective suits and a lot of things to keep herself safe, and since Mikado is stuck with her she makes him work for her so she shares these supplies with him.

So for a while all he had to do was lure zombies into this designated containment area and collect samples from them for Kokoro to study, while also bringing some dead ones in too from time to time so she can dissect and study them as well. But nothing good lasts forever, Mikado was bitten by a zombie he thought had died while collecting a blood sample, Kokoro takes this as an opportunity to start testing possible cures on him.

She was able to develop a solution that keeps his infection from spreading beyond stage 2 (the one Mikado had reached by the time she first tested this solution on him), but there's been no progress on one capable of reversing the effects of the virus so far. Probably because Kokoro's lab is starting to lack a few things by now, not that this will stop her from continuing her research tho, if someone's gonna find a cure it's probably her.

Anyways, back to the Dra cast. This whole apocalypse starts in a similar way to how the cast gets captured in canon, Kisaragi brings them to the foundation's place without knowing Utsuro and Akane (who is at early stage 2 now) are the causes of this mess. The two of them let a bunch of zombies in and reveal themselves as despairs, at this point the class ends up getting divided as they lose track of where the others are.

-Group 1; Yamato, Mikako, Teruya, Satsuki, Haruhiko: It was a hard decision but seing as zombies were everywhere around the facility, they couldn't risk staying for very long to try finding the others. Yamato directed the people with him alongside several other foundation members that hadn't gotten bit towards some helicopters where they left the island and headed towards a secret underground facility/bunker.

So they're safe, but obviously worried about the others. Yamato manages to contact Tsurugi via some kind of communication device early on and hearing that he's got a lot of their clasmates still with him makes them all a little relieved, Yamato sends the coordinates of the bunker to him so that Tsurugi can bring him and the others there safely, he also tent to talk him whenever he has the time to make sure everything is going well and even send supplies to their location when needed.

Because i imagine Yamato would absolutely be overworked on this, trying to keep the people at the bunker safe and sane while getting news from their friends still outside while ALSO trying to find a cure himself. Which is a lot harder to when he is very unwilling to bring infected into the bunker to make tests as in depth as Kokoro is doing. His are done by shooting zombies around the area on the surface with a dart that has one of his solutions and a microchip onto it, he keeps track on these zombies to see if it does anything. Not very precise, but the safety of the people in the facility is more important to him than that.

Mikako also helps with it from time to time but most of what she does is keep check of the people in the bunker and make sure they're ok, while also being in charge of checking and disinfecting anyone that's gonna enter the facility and coordinating ocasional missions to go outside and gather more suplies. Where are these supplies coming from? Otori mart of course! Hence why Teruya also helps with these missions by telling them which stores will have certain itens and where to find them.

As for Satsuki and Haru, I don't think they're doing much, sorta just trying to settle in the facility and reassuring the other people there that they're safe down there. I like to think Satsuki maybe pulls up some performances to boost morale of the people at the facility and make them smile even if just a little.

After getting separated from Yamato and the others, Tsurugi took the lead in guiding his classmates to safety after deciding that they should head down and try to leave the island via boat, but things don't go so smoothly as the group is followed by a hoard of zombies. Kakeru, Mitch and Kinji stay behind to hold back the zombies while the others reach the boat, Maki wanted to stay behind with them as well but Higa insisted that she should go with the others to protect them.

-Group 2; Tsurugi, Kiyoka, Ayame, Kanata, Kizuna:

The remaining members of class 79 stick together as they traverse through the city, making contact with Yamato via Kinjo's two way radio and getting the coordinates for their location. Tsurugi effectively becomes the leader of the group, though his weird morals tend to make him pretty cold and rather unsympathetic during the apocalypse, prioritizing their survival above all else while being somewhat paranoid about the infection and possible traitors like Utsuro and Akane.

Back in the foundation's island Ayame had gotten bit by Taira while in denial that she could have helped cause this, she tried to get Akane to "snap out of it" and return to her senses, but it didn't work out. Seeing as Ayame had gotten infected Tsurugi wanted to put her down to avoid more casualties, which was not taken well by pretty much everyone else in their group, except for Rei who begrudgingly took his side she figured keeping Ayame with them would be risky.

Thankfully, Kanata stepped in and begged to be allowed to try doing something to help Ayame and if there was nothing she could do to save her she would let him go ahead and kill her. They headed towards an abandoned hospital where Kanata performed mant tests on Ayame and ultimately decided to amputate her armnin an attempt to stop tye infection from spreading. She monitored her closely for tge next few days and was overjoyed when she didn't show any signs of infection afterwards.

Because Kizuna is not doing well either, a few weeks into the apocalypse she became absolutely terrified of zombies and the virus which led to her becoming extremely paranoid and scared that she could get it and turn into one. She was never bit, but her anxiety and paranoia makes her afraid that maybe she has gotten it somehow, she constantly asks Kanata to do check-ups on her and asks if what she's feeling is normal or if she's turning into a zombie.

Ayame is.. not doing very well. Her mental health has gotten pretty bad after learning the truth about Akane, she blames herself for not having been able to "see her true colors" despite being so close to her and is generally really hurt over her betrayal of them since she had feelings for her.

Currently she doesn't talk much, doesn't eat much and doesn't do much, which bothers Kinjo since she could have been very helpful due to her talent if she had the strength to be a more active member of their group. Kanata tries to help her mental health improve even if that's beyond her field of knowledge, she's essential always near her and Kizuna to keep an eye on them and reasure them that they're gonna make it to the bunker.

She pretty much doesn't sleep anymore, something Kinjo uses to the group's advantage and tends to leave her in charge of looking over them while they sleep for the night, if she sees or hear anything strange she can wake him up and he'll know what to do from here on out.

With Kanata being their only medical professional and Ayame and Kizuna not being in the best state of mind, Kinjo and Kiyoka are the ones who do most of the work for the group. They scout areas they're about to head towards next (since their goal is to reach the foundation's underground facility, they're always on the move) to see if their safe and look for suplies and food. Maki is essentially his right hand woman and voice of reason a lot of the time, she also taught the other girls how to fire a gun, just in case whatever base they are currently staying in gets attacked while the her and Kinjo are out.

-Kakeru, Higa and Kinji:

While Kakeru and Mitch were killed by zombies back in the Kisaragi foundation's island, Kinji managed to free himself and reach the roadway, unfortunately he was infected in the process. Knowing that he would eventually lose his mind to tye virus, he decided to not go after the others from his class and instead dedicates the time he has left to giving a proper burial to the dead people and zombies he finds on the streets, praying that their souls are able to rest in peace.

Kinji's infection has reached mid stage 3, his memories are starting to become foggy, keeping his sanity while resisting the hunger is becoming harder and harder.

-Rei:

She stayed with Tsurugi's group for quite some time but eventually left after a huge argument with him and generally being fed up with having to deal with them. Having the coordinates to the foundation's bunker written down in a notepad, she decided to find it on her own, believing she could get there way faster without having to wait for a bunch of other people.

She was certain that her intelligence and problem solving abilities would be enough to get by, however, in these situations safety is in numbers. Rei had a close call in the city when she stumbled upon zombified versions if her parents, unable to bring herself to shoot them, she was attacked but luckily a group of survivors came to help her before the worst happened.

She stayed with them for the night, having her minor injuries treated by the father of one of her classmates. While she was offered a place in the group by their leader, Rei refused, adamantly sticking to her goal of making it to the bunker on her own.

She made it out of the city, but is starting to run out of supplies and ammo.

-Setsuka and her crew: Working as a detective for a good while before the apocalypse and having the devil's eye to help her, Setsuka is a master of stealth and doesn't have a hard time at all avoiding zombies by traversing through some safer routes. She set up a base in an abandoned warehouse and overtime managed to rescue a handful of people, these being Ryutaro, Midori, Keisuke, Minako and Yoruko.

Things were going as smoothly as they could be for a while until zombies broke into the warehouse and the crew had to leave in a hurry, Minako was killed in the process and Yoruko was bitten in the ankle, something she only took notice of late at night. When the others woke up the next day, she was nowhere to be found. Ironically, it was while the group looked for her that they met Hikaru, who could possibly have saved her from the infection the same way Kanata did to Ayame.

On a good note, now that they have a medical professional, Hikaru can take care of Midori and tell them what kind of medicine they should look for in this situation, the two of them tend to stay at their new base most of the time (set on the roof of a tall building, stairs barricade to prevent zombies from getting up. The group climbs down usinga rope whenever they need to leave) while Setsuka and the boys go around to gather food and suplies.

It was in one of these small missions that they met Rei and agreed to give her some of their food and a place to stay for the night in exchange for medical supplies. While she was asleep, Setsuka rummaged through her backpack and found the notepad with the coordinates for the underground facility. She used the devil's eye to record it and now there is a new group heading towards the bunker.

-Kanade and Hibiki:

Hibiki panicked and ententered her puppet stage early on into the apocalypse, Kanade found that delightful, now she has her sister all for herself and no facades to keep on at all since the world has gone to shit. Her focus is not on surviving or making to a safe shelter, she's just having a blast brutally murdering zombies all over the place and people too whenever she sees that they have something she wants or simply managed to get on her nerves.

Zombie or human, Kanade likes to sign her work, other survivor have learned to recognize corpses killed by her not only for the guresome ways in which they were left for display, but also for a music note symbol carved in their foreheads. Every once in a while she will be sent to eliminate people or specific trade groups that Syobai considers a threath to his business, in exchange, he allows her to take any weapons he wants from his stock and stay in his shelter if she desires.

The person Kanade talks with the most is Hibiki, which is more like talking to herself by now since she remains unemotional and unresponsive to anything but direct orders from her.. Or is she..?

Either ways, if one hears singing around the bloody city streets, it's better to run away immediately.

-Shinji and Yuki:

Shinji was on a business trip outside the city when the apocalypse started, he was attacked and his car was destroyed by zombies when he tried to come back there when the outbreak was in its peak. In the outskirts, he stumbled upon the place Akane and Utsuro had locked the real Yuki in. Took a while but he eventually managed to free him, the boy was scared and confused, it took a few days Shinji to explain things to him and for the reality of the situation to settle in his mind.

Although scared Yuki is determined to reunite with his mother, just how Shinji wants to find his wife and daughters. Together the two of them are making their way back to the city, with Shinji promising himself he'll do anything to protect the young boy, who is like a son to him by now.

-Syobai:

Being a broker during the apocalypse sure has its advantages! Since money is pretty much worthless now, Syobai makes a living by trading goods (weapons, clothes, medicine, shelter, drugs, whatever you want, he probably has it) by things of his interest, be it food, other suplies, information or even services from people. Though a handfuls survivors tend to avoid doing business with him, aware of the dangers that come with the deal.

Most of his goods were taken from other traffickers/criminal organizations after they were attacked and killed by zombies, so Syobai has a lot in hands to trade and lots of contacts he made during this mess to keep him up to date on the situation, always gotta be one step ahead of the curve you know.

-Yuri: Stage 2 infected, he achived his dream of sacrificing himself to save a woman!.. Now what? His health is deteriorating fast.

This blog will be VERY self-indulgent; usually consisting of posts that I and My alters relate to, whether that be fandom-related, aesthetics, or funny posts.

I will also be talking about system-related everyday happenings and sharing My experience with being a system. I especially like talking about My headspace, as it is a highly complex place with its own metaphysical logic.

X-Files Collector’s Edition: Curated Baroness Blixen’s “Millennium” Fics

I have a longer collection of Millennium fics coming soon-- but a big chunk of them were written solely by the lovely @baronessblixen (or Anika), so I decided to group them all together here.

““I could drive over to your apartment."

"Mulder, your arm is in a sling. You can't drive." Scully pinches her nose. She can barely move; her own body, without the aid of painkillers, reminds her that she's not getting any younger.

"I can drive with one arm, Scully. I told you."

"You can't, Mulder. Or you shouldn't. Just stay where you are, all right? I'll see you in a couple of hours." He's quiet again and as much as Scully longs for him to hang up the phone so she can go back to sleep, she knows the silence is not a good sign.””

Mulder is miffed that Scully left; and calls her as soon as his druggy haze wears off. Scully, meanwhile, just wants sleep, but gives up after realizing he’s already driven over.

Good Morning

““It's winter," Scully says.

"Have you heard about socks?"

"You're not wearing socks either."

"My feet aren't ice blocks.”"

Mulder may be charmed to finally have a domestic routine with Scully; but he’s still an odd man with a hyperactive mind that prevents him from sleeping.

Kissing You (Ao3)

““Yeah, this can't be real.

"Scully?" he whispers her name into the crown of her hair. A strand of hair catches on his bottom lip and he tries to free it without moving his arm and waking Scully. Any amount of using his tongue and blowing against the flick of hair is without use though.

"Why are you spitting in my hair?" she mumbles, not moving, seemingly unfazed...””

Mulder wakes after his successful New Years Eve with Scully... and doesn’t believe this can be real. Scully also gets spit in her hair. (Note: I’m stretching the believability by including a fic at his apartment instead of at hers: but CC doesn’t care about canonical facts, so why should I?)

Word Salad (Ao3)

““With his arm in a sling, he is a perfect picture of pity. Her mother awwed when she lay eyes on him as she opened the door. Mulder wasn’t an expected guest at her mother’s New Year’s Day afternoon tea party, but he is a loved one. Her friends treat him like a long lost child who needs to be fed and pampered. They've been here for two hours and Mulder hasn't been without food since. Every time she checks on him, he's munching on cake, on cookies, on whatever he is given.””

Mulder is brought along to the Scully-New-Year-afternoon-tea-party and picks the absolute wrong time to mispronounce “quiche.” Luckily for him, the Scullys are a pretty cool family.

Alternate Endings/Follow Ups

Plans - Chapter 1

““Truth be told, she expected his call sooner. Much sooner. When her phone rings, and she sees his name flash up, she bites her lip to hide her smile.

“Scully,“ he says, not even bothering with a hello, “I need your help.” He sounds desperate enough for her to hold the phone tighter and feel her heart constrict. Should she have left him alone last night? He didn‘t want her to go and she didn‘t want to leave. But she did.””

Mulder wants Scully to come back for another New Year’s greeting, no matter how low he has to stoop.

On A High Note (Ao3)

““Scully touches her neck, where her own wounds itch like insect bites. Who knew that zombie bites and insect bites were actually similar? She saves that info in her brain and stretches her sore muscles. The shower is still running and she hopes Mulder leaves enough hot water for her.

She yawns, thinking about hot showers, hot coffee, and Mulder. It’s only then that she starts listening to the music and realizes that it’s not exactly music. Or rather, it’s not the radio.

Mulder is singing.””

Mulder decides it’s a good thing to take all his pain pills at once. Scully tries not to be amused as he bumbles around singing ballads, high and happy.

A Single Moment

““They decided to "wait and see" (as if they were a virus, not two people tentatively taking steps towards a romantic relationship). But Mulder must not have listened because here he is, with his arm in a sling, his rose and a sheepish grin.

"Come inside," she says after too many seconds and he pushes past her. He smells freshly showered, like pine and citrus, and she wonders how he could have managed by himself with his injured arm.

"I put a bag over my arm," Mulder says with a shrug, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Considering how often he hurt himself, maybe it is.””

Mulder is tired of waiting; and shows up New Year’s Day with a rose. Scully overcomes her nervousness by trusting in their strong bond.

One More Moment

““He's hiding in her mother's upstairs bathroom, staring at the neatly folded, perfectly arranged towels. The sight unnerves him. Is this his future? Does Scully fold her towels like this? He hasn't even spent enough nights at her place to know this little thing.

"Mulder?" Her voice is muffled through the door. He doesn't know how long he's been up here. Maybe five, maybe ten minutes. Long enough for Scully to notice and miss him.””

Mulder runs upstairs, overwhelmed with Maggie’s book club friends’ questions on the immediate heels of his new relationship with Scully. She joins him in her mother’s bathroom to soothe his concerns and banter him back to normal.

Her Name Was Bambi

““Can you imagine me and her? Fox and Bambi?" He grins at her, but her own smile is a grimace. Maybe she is jealous after all, just a bit. "Scully, it never would have worked out with her and me. I wasn't interested in her that way. I was only interested in you." Now she's the one who huffs. "Fine, I was maybe attracted to her for five minutes. I've been attracted to you for seven years, doesn't that count for anything?"

"Shhhhh!" Little Matthew stands next to the couch, his bright blue eyes flickering with childish exasperation. "Quiet," he says, "watching Bambi!" He plops down again and Mulder and Scully share a look, trying not to laugh.””

Scully and Mulder’s plans are squashed by emergency baby-sitting-Matthew-duty; and a Disney movie stirs up some old jealousies.

What You Heard Isn’t What I Said

““No mom, it’s fine,” she says with a long, drawn-out sigh. “I just don’t know how to tell him, that’s all.” Mulder stops dead in his tracks. Who is she talking about? It can’t be him, can it? He knows he shouldn’t be eavesdropping, but he finds himself incapable of moving. The coffees are still in his hands and he stands there, frozen. The door is ajar, but he can’t see Scully, and she can’t see him.

“I’m just not interested in him that way,” Scully goes on and Mulder feels his knees give in. He leans against the wall, his head heavy.””

Mulder’s spring in his step the next day is momentarily halted by a misconstrued phone call; and it takes Scully tracking him down and dragging it out of him to set things right.

Can’t Hurry Love (Ao3)

““But do you realize that I hurried through lunch with my brother because I thought something important was going on?”

“I’m sorry, Scully. What else can I say?” “Next time your exciting news turn out to be about kitchen appliances, tell me right away and don’t make it a secret.”

“In my defense,” Scully shoots him a look and Mulder ignores it, “I never said it was exciting. I didn’t keep it a secret either. So that’s why I’m here? As punishment?”

“Partly,” she admits.””

Mulder is stressed while accompanying Scully to her family New Year’s party, having to meet both her brothers after being openly jealous of Bill’s previous attempts to set his sister up with a friend (previous part here.) He gets to grab a nap upstairs, though.

Change of Plans

““But today he really is fine. His arm is out of the sling. If she wanted, he could hand her a doctor's note saying he is ready. For anything.

He is convinced that nothing can dampen his mood. That is until Scully opens the door.

"Hi," she says, her voice unrecognizable.””

Mulder has been WAITING for the sling to come off; but his further plans are halted by Scully being undeniably sick.

Mulder Breaks The Rules (Ao3)

““As unusual as the weather is, the quietness that accompanies it is even stranger. There’s no incessant chatter heard on the streets, people honking impatiently, no children. This is the new normal now. When the first cases of the so-called “Millennium flu” broke, no one took it seriously. Just the flu could be heard around every corner. Now, if anyone uses the phrase at all, it is whispered in hushed, uncertain tones. One thing is certain: it is not just the flu.””

Quarantine after the new Millennium or no, Mulder shall not be separated from Scully. Besides, he prides himself on flouting the rules anyway.

I've decided to post my scooby shelf! It's not all the merch i have, and i also have 3 more vhs tapes on a diff shelf (zombie island, witchs ghost, and spookiest tales for anyone interested), but I'm quite fond of it!

Movies are stacked left to right, and are arranged chronologically! 2 double features and a multi pack are a bit out of place, but that's a given lol.

Holliday specials, episode collections, and full series/seasons are stacked up and down. The holiday specials and episode collections aren't arranged in order, cause i haven't gotten around to it, but the series/seasons are chronological. Oldest on bottom, newest on top.

I also included a close up of my Scrappy keychain. I got him from a blind bag, so you can imagine my excitement when i got exactly the one i wanted lmao. Oh! Also worth noting, i put the playmobil scooby and the lego one in the same pose cause i thought it was cute! Right under the playmobil monsters, i also have little labels with the monster name and episode they're from!

Soooo… an AU where Elphaba’s emergency life-saving tin spell fails, and that’s it, he’s dead. Totally deceased. Full-stop. All over. No coming back from this one.

Until he does. Because of course he does. We wouldn’t have a plot if he didn’t.

Okay, so two people know about this death, and one of them wants to leave immediately for the Emerald City and leave the other one to clean up her own mess. Given that she’s been in love with Boq for years, Nessa can probably be trusted to perform a decent and respectful burial? And hopefully not do something stupid? At least not the kind of stupid that gets her arrested for murder. Tell people it was sudden spontaneous cardiac arrest, he had a medical condition, then shut up before you say something incriminating. She coulda gotten help with this, easy, but she decides to go out and bury him alone in a storm because she’s dramatic about her grief.

Which gets her out of her house at the time that it’s flattened by another house.

Don’t know how the lack of dead sisters and shoes to give away affects Dorothy and Elphaba and the A plot, don’t care.

Don’t know how Nessa gets her hands on that magic living powder stuff from later Oz books, don’t care.

She does, in fact, get her hands on some Powder of Life. Dunno if she seeks it out on purpose, dunno if she comes across it by chance and her eyes light up with excitement. But she goes out and does a little necromancy with her shiny new beginners’ reanimation kit.

So Boq’s back. He didn't get a chance to rot too much, and any rotting that did get done is healed pretty quickly by the Powder of Life because reasons. Still no heart, so no pulse, but I think we’re assuming that the magic gets all his other organs working normally again? It could be an interesting road to take if he’s still rotting, because again, you cannot have Boq without a little transformation body horror (unless you’re reading the novel I guess). How do you deal with literally falling apart while you’re still alive? Beyond the psychological effect, what are the practical difficulties? Looking from a scientific standpoint? But I digress.

If this went rather the same as in canon, with Boq screaming in horror and running and Nessa yelling that he should blame Elphaba, then we’re going to have to go with the rotting zombie option, and learning to deal with that is the plot. But if he’s back to normal (mostly) and feeling fine, then the plot is gaslighting.

Here’s how it goes. It’s a little too convenient, but stick with me. During physical decay, there’s a decay of memories, in reverse chronological order, obviously. So when Boq gets brought back from the dead, he’s lost all of the past like… how many years? Around three? It’d be a little too unbelievable for the last thing he remembers to be the Ozdust Ballroom, but at any rate, In his mind he barely knows Nessa, and he is supposed to be in an agriculture class right this second what is happening??

Nessa puts two and two together in the blink of an eye and doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of this. She tells him he’s got a head injury and apparently amnesia but it’s okay, she’ll fill him in on everything. And yes they’re dating, he asked her out in college and is very much in love with her and was probably about to propose, definitely. And no, she has no relation whatsoever to the evil Wicked Witch that is a thing now by the way, why would you think that? And yes you have a pulse, you must just be bad at finding it, it’s plain as day to me, don’t worry about it.

That’s it. That’s all I have for plot. Just a very easy opportunity for gaslighting. Nessa barely even has to try. I’m kind of hoping Elphaba is going to swoop in at some point and set the record straight. Maybe when she comes after hearing about the house-flattens-house thing, worried about Nessa. She’ll show up and see Boq willingly holding Nessa’s hand and know that something is very deeply wrong. And then she’ll remember that Boq is supposed to be dead, she watched him die, which makes it even more unlikely that he’d be standing there holding Nessa’s hand.

If I’m going to put Boq in this scenario, then the least I can do is send Elphaba to get him out of it once all the gaslighting has gotten as interesting as it can be and we’re ready to move on with the plot. Because it would be AWFUL if he never learned the truth.

But still. He doesn’t remember “the truth,” and he’s been spending weeks growing to love Nessa because he doesn’t have any reason not to. Even when he’s told what she’s done, he no longer has the emotions and experiences to connect that truth to, so they might not matter as much as what he knows he’s feeling right now. When he’s faced with an uncomfortable reality about the one person he trusts more than anyone.. is he really going to decide to do anything differently?

He’s always preferred a comforting lie…

As of today I have read all 55 issues of Bob Budiansky’s run on Transformers, plus the Headmasters mini and the UK-only issues up to [checks the wiki] UK issue #182, which means I have 20-odd UK-sized comics before I’m at the same place in the US and UK chronologies. Oh, and the UK Annuals through 1987. Oh, and Transformers: Secrets and Lies, but that only kind of counts since it published as a continuity-fixing prequel in the past ten years.

The first lesson you should take from this is that Transformers continuity has always been a pain in the ass. The second is that despite that, these comics are entertaining enough for me to read the way through them. Since I already like Transformers, part of the entertainment value is just seeing the mythos take form, but there are several stories I’d put down as genuinely good.

Miscenalleous thoughts:

The quality of the series rises sharply after the 4-issue miniseries that starts it, then declines again around #30 of the US comics, probably because of the sheer number of characters who have to be introduced all at once. (All the Headmasters, Targetmasters, Powermasters, and Pretenders, and that’s just for starters.)

That first post-miniseries arc of Shockwave taking over the Decepticons + Buster Witwicky getting the Creation Matrix is really fun. The Transformers ... ARE ALL DEAD and the Autobots hanging from the ceiling truly deserve their iconic status!

The Smelting Pool!/The Bridge to Nowhere two-parter is probably my favorite single story. It’s not the dead Cybertron of the cartoon, but instead a very living hell. Spanner’s fate (being rebuilt into the space bridge while still alive and conscious) is horrifying, especially as we know he’s still alive at the end of the arc, he’s just never mentioned again. Every time you see the space bridge after this, know that Spanner is still screaming inside of it.

Similarly, seeing Cybertron’s day-to-day fucked-up normal in the Flame’s zombie army arc in the UK comics was nice. I still don’t understand how the “zombie army” part of his plan and the “make Cybertron travel through space” part were connected, but I’m always a fan of villains who are supposed to be on the main characters’ side.

The early UK art when it was fully hand-painted is gorgeous. Decepticon Dam-Busters (issue #29) is not my favorite story, but the coloring really takes the whole thing to the next level. The US comics and later UK comics never looked this good.

The infamous issue where Optimus Prime kills himself over cheating in a video game does suck, which only makes it more striking how much I like the next issue, where Megatron’s inability to accept Prime’s death drives him into paranoid violence.

Furious, impetuous Blaster is a much more interesting character than the chill Blaster of the cartoon. He’s ready to disobey orders if it means saving someone he cares about AND he’s willing to turn on a dime and kill a friend if he thinks that friend has betrayed him.

Some concepts that I would love to have come back:

Megatron and Optimus are only the leaders of their factions on Cybertron for a hundred to a thousand-ish years before they’re gone for four million years. This isn’t explored in the comics, but everyone on Cybertron has known someone else’s leadership for exponentially longer than they have known Optimus and Megatron. It’d be interesting to have a series that goes back to the 4-million-year hiatus - I don’t think we’ve had one of those in a while - and had the two factions face a third side in the form of an unrecognizably changed Cybertron.

Deadly Games from the UK continuity has alien tourists visiting Decepticon-run Cybertron to view brutal bloodsport executions of Autobot prisoners in a joint alien-Decepticon venture. The exploitation of the Autobot-Decepticon war for moneymaking purposes via poverty/war tourism is something I don’t think any other TF media goes into, but it’s

Surprising absolutely no one, I was super into the Headmaster binary bonding process. Yes, the reasoning for why it happened and how it works is wonky! Yes, the Nebulans to a man have very stupid names and very generic appearances! Yes, the Headmasters start an era of truly relentless character introductions! But the blending of minds described in text is truly fascinating. When Zarak and Scorponok bond, Zarak nearly forgets he has a daughter, and over time Zarak stops wanting to be called anything but Scorponok even when they’re separate. On the flip slide, because of his bond with Spike, Fortress Maximus forgets that Buster isn’t his brother.

Unicron and Primus are part of pantheons of dark and light gods respectively. None of the other gods are ever seen, and this is admittedly a niche that is mostly filled by the Thirteen in present fiction, but I like the idea that these other gods are the gods of other species.

The Ark has a cache of copied Autobot minds that can be given new bodies ... implying that Skids, Grapple, Hoist, Smokescreen and Tracks exist in both original and copy format. This is an extremely fun use of the Transformers’ computer-based physiology at this point in canon and I’d love more blase cloning stories.

The Matrix being a live-giving program that can be transmitted to and from ANY mind, including an organic one would honestly pair quite well with the themes of Earthspark.

Two quotes to add to the compilation of “Transformers quotes that go harder than they had to”:

OH DAMN, ANOTHER BRAIN MOMENT!! I’ve clogged your inbox enough as it is so from here on out I’m just gonna try to keep it to like… maybe one ask a week LMAO I know your account isn’t exclusively about zombie au stuff. So last one:

I hate to think like this, but… what would happen if one of our precious survivors did end up getting infected? You probably know where I’m going with this, but ohhh shit First Aid’s caretaker instincts and overall fatal drive to support and protect does not benefit him in the long run! At least, not if you go by the black-and-white thinking. I won’t start a whole philosophical debate, so anyway. Let’s say somewhere down the line he gets infected, because…. It’s First Aid, he’d probably try to help someone who they found on the streets who looks “ill” but is actually a zombie in the making and ends up getting bitten, whoops.

There’s definitely a few ways you could go about this. For one, you could be like OH MY GOD IVE BEEN BITTEN *cue zombie transformation*, or you could be like FUCK I’ve been bitten, try to get as far from the house as possible while this awful disease ravages your system within seconds. Or, secret third option, you could do something like the 2017 zombie movie Cargo.

It’s been a while, but if I remember correctly, it was about this dad surviving an apocalypse who had his kid strapped to his back. Like, the kid was 2ish maybe, one of those tiny humans that can fit in the harness you wear over your shoulder and you’re like a human pack mule and your baggage is a child? I dunno what to call them. ANYWAY, if I remember correctly, the zombie transformation process wasn’t immediate. At least, it wasn’t like “five minutes from now I’ll be hungry for flesh.” It might’ve been like an hours thing, maybe more like a days thing?

A chronological process here with that in mind:

1. Say the person he’s trying to heal isn’t infected-infected, like they’re still coherent. If they bite him then, it would obviously infect HIM, too, but I feel like the process would be slower.

2. With that in mind, you just know First Aid realizes exactly how this is gonna go. He’s gonna be zombified sooner or later, there’s no doubt about that. His biggest concern is probably like “how quickly is this gonna happen?” Does he have enough time to get himself and the survivor he’d tried to help away from the farmhouse? Can he inform the Combaticons, maybe the children? Does he have more time than he expects? What’s the process gonna be like? Where does he even start?

3. Thankfully for him (actually not thankfully it’s even more awful this way LMAO), the infection seems a bit more gradual than instant. It’s probably a two, three day process, and throughout the whole thing he just feels so tired, his body feels sore, he feels so hungry, super hungry. At the same time, regular food cooked by Onslaught which is usually the best thing he’s ever tasted is repulsive, nauseating even.

4. Those things aren’t the worst of it, though. First Aid’s BIGGEST problem is the site of the wound itself, which started out as a small bite-shaped puncture wound but has now spread across his ENTIRE arm, causing the skin to go blue and veins to appear and gosh, he couldn’t stop bleeding at first, but now there just isn’t any blood at all, no clotting, nothing. He’s lucky he can still feel that arm, let alone use it, because he can feel his nerves dying out one by one. It doesn’t actually hurt, which is a little surprising. If anything, it just… I don’t know, it’s just like he’s gradually getting less and less aware that he has two arms, not own.

5. Ironically, despite the danger he puts himself and others in, it does take First Aid some time to open up about what happened. Only hours after the incident does the poor survivor fully transform into a flesh-eating, brain-hungry monster, and First Aid doesn’t have the courage to stick around when Brawl heads out back to “take care of the poor guy.” The Combaticon is strangely humane about the entire ordeal, and it makes First Aid feel a little better, but it’s like knowing the day you’re gonna die. There’s nothing you can do, but it’s still haunting.

6. He doesn’t actually end up telling anyone, though… they just sort of find out. First Aid was pretty diligent about keeping the bite wound sanitized and wrapped, despite it doing little to help. He’s more afraid of infecting others via contact with the injury, though, and… well, he still hasn’t gathered the courage needed to open up about what happened. It’s a weird feeling, but one moment First Aid is sitting at the dining room table, staring down at a plate of food he hasn’t touched yet while Vortex and Swindle argue over some unimportant topic, and the next thing he knows, he’s suddenly being pinned to the ground by a very aggressive, very scared Onslaught. It’s hard to tell exactly what had happened at first, but a quick glance at the upturned tables and chairs and Swindle—who’s quite literally quivering in the farthest corner of the room and completely silent for once in his fucking life—tells him exactly what had happened.

7. All of a sudden, everything erupts into poorly controlled chaos. The children who witnessed the incident are crying, First Aid starts crying, Swindle is babbling on about rabies and infections and god knows what, Brawl is struggling to help gather everyone up and out of the room so Onslaught can have some space to work. It takes some time, but he eventually manages to help guide First Aid out of the house and away from the trashed dining room.

8. You could end it all depressingly with First Aid being eliminated but honestly, I hc that they just keep him in the barn or something LMAO. I like the idea that zombies aren’t as aggressive during the day, and if anything, more curious that bloodthirsty. Also, you COULD try to feed him a little something here and there. Maybe not, but like… it’s not out of the question. Vortex takes him on like he’s just another horse living in the stable, and he’s honestly the only one who’s unfazed by First Aid’s tendency to nip at stray fingers. At one point he even suggests pulling First Aid’s teeth to make him less dangerous, but the children lost their minds, so that was quickly turned down. Either way, First Aid is now their little zombie pet, and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Sometimes Vortex even takes him out on little walks with a harness and a leash. First Aid doesn’t mind it, for the most part. He even seems to like it, and he especially likes stopping to stand under the shade of trees while Vortex continues training his precious mare.

I’ve always imagined First Aid would be the type of person who would realize he is going to die, and try the very drastic amputation method. Like, if it works, that’s a different topic. But I imagine he would have seen how long it takes to turn, and then gamble on, “if I amputate the area that got bitten, then I can survive” but it would have to be a very very rapid decision.

Ie: realizing he got bitten on the arm, ripping off the clothing there, tying a tourniquet, grabbing whatever sharp object he keeps on him and doing the worlds worst and most horrific amputation. You could make a case that maybe he has medical tools on him that could be used for amputation. But it’s equally likely that he doesn’t. Bonus points if he’s alone, or what if he’s not alone and Vortex has to hold his arm down for him. Ugh. Interesting stuff though!

im bored at work and feel like rambling about some mianite verse c!Tom headcanons. so backstory headcanon time

cw for zombie related things and (temporary) character death. under a cut just to be safe

I like to imagine because its implied that the Minecraft Project precedes Mianite S1 (NOT Isles that shit chronologically takes place after S2 when him and Jordan travel back in time to that era i refuse to believe anything else), that Tom starts in that realm/universe. We''ll dub it for the time being Astrakheins (iykyk) as a human. Unzombified.

I don't really know much about TMP in terms if theres a canon storyline but in this HC at least the Syndicate family has a long history of running the industry in this era and in time, the mantle falls to Thomas and his sister Alice. Under their command, the world flourishes into a prosperous empire of farming, mining and resources. In addition, a strong bond is formed with a goddess by the name of Ianite and her the Voidwalkers of the End and the mysterious beings of the nether.

However, as things go. Things go.

Within a couple years of being in charge, Tom falls ill with a mysterious infection that starts to... turn him. While he maintains a healthy physical state, he notices the skin on his hands rotting at the seams of former injuries, his hair changing from its usual brown blonde to a sickly cerulean. Alice and the others come to him with concerns, but the zombification is nothing to him. He goes on as normal, and is quite productive to say the least.

However, it isn't until after the ender dragon fight where something changes, where the illness begins to take over him in a way that renders him bedridden for weeks. Ianite herself has no idea where it could have come from, instead citing a possible origin from the Nether, which in the absence of any god has been slowly deteriorating. And to her knowledge, there is no way of fighting it. He tries to move, but eventually becomes completely immobile despite multiple limb surgeries.

And one day, his eyes closed and would not open again.

Heartbroken, Alice had no choice but to bury him, and continue on. The empire could not fall this easily. Little did she know, as she laid her brother to rest in the ground, something, not of this world watched on. Sitting. Waiting.

And finally it struck.

In the middle of a business meeting with redstone engineers from the End, a multiversal rift tears a gaping chasm through the sky, the edges burning with a blaze unlike anything the citizens had ever seen before. From it jumped a demon, a dragon, a god with furiously glowing golden eyes and a cloak covered in hot ash, his gaze set on one thing only.

The grave of Tom Syndicate.

Using the power he must have possessed he raises a wall of obsidian, magma and blackstone so high that no one can get to him, regardless of how powerful- including Alice. She frantically reaches into her pockets and calls to Ianite.

No answer.

Within he chants a language not ever having been spoken in Astrakheins before, breaking the ground at his feet to rise pools of lava lifting the body of the zombified man before him, opening his fully black eyes and red pupils to face the god.

Tom himself didn't quite know where he was, in all honesty.

He recognizes some things, some builds, some faces. His memory is foggy. He retains some names, the skills in which it would take to survive, but he hadn't come back right. He hadn't come back the same.

None of what he does remember is alluring enough to insist on staying when the god before him, introducing himself as Dianite, offers to take Tom to this realm of anarchy to serve as his champion.

Champion. How could he resist such a title? Especially after this guy seems to have brought him back from a limbo he was stuck in.

The conversation is not heard by others. But it must have been rather promising to have a deal struck in such a short time.

The walls around him and his god crumble to the ground. The earth closes up and the lava returns to its underground tomb. Dianite raises his blade to the sky in victory, and flies up, Tom trailing closely after. He goes almost without second thought back through the rift, sealing it shut behind him almost as quickly as it had opened.

And that's the last Alice and Astrakheins ever sees of Tom "SynHD" Syndicate.

WELCOME, TO THE HELLSCAPE of AWESOMENESS. Summaries will have some very minor spoilers, depending on how you see spoilers.

Alright so I'm going to break this ask up into sections. And then after you've digested all that information, you can decide what you think is best based upon that. Personally, I liked the order I played them in-chronological order (so Yakuza 0 to 7) but this is going to vary by person.

Note that for ease here I will not be including the samurai spinoffs of Kenzan and Ishin. Those are another thing entirely. However, the Ishin worldwide remake is coming out in February of 2023. I am very excited. This also does not include the spin off with the zombies, Yakuza Dead Souls. Again, that’s another post.

Judgment Spin-Offs

New Protagonist, Private Detective Yagami Takayuki. Will sometimes reference mainline Yakuza games.

Judgment: 2018

Lost Judgment: 2021 Technically includes Kaito Masaharu as a second protagonist should you acquire his DLC content.

So with this in mind, behold.

Note there will be a difference between Yakuza 1 and 2 and Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2. These I will also detail below.

Yakuza: CHRONOLOGICAL TIMELINE (NOT RELEASE ORDER) Although most of the games take place the same year they’re released. And many of them take place around Christmas time.

Yakuza 0: 1988.

Two Protagonists. Kiryu Kazuma and Majima Goro.

Where it all began. Kiryu is 20 years old and a brand new yakuza. He's framed for murder and goes on a long, spiraling journey both to solve the mystery and figure out who is responsible and why. Majima is working at a cabaret, seemingly under constant watchful eyes and charged with a task: kill the owner of the empty lot where the murder Kiryu is framed for took place, and get back into the clan. There are many complications to this.

One of the longest games in the series, and one of my personal favourites. Yakuza 0 is a decent entry for newcomers as it is the 'beginning' of it all.

Yakuza 1/ Kiwami: 1995 and 2005

The first game made and released, Kiryu takes the fall for his sworn brother, Nishikiyama Akira for murdering their patriarch, Dojima Sohei. He spends ten years in prison and when he comes out, has to face a new world and new challenges. In the end of the game, he becomes charged with the daughter of his old flame; Sawamura Haruka. Who is around 9 at the time. He is also made chairman of the Tojo Clan. A title he accepts, and then immediately hands over to another man named Terada.Terada used to be with the rival faction, the Omi Alliance. But switched to the Tojo. Who is not who he seems at first.

Yakuza 2/ Kiwami 2: 2006

Ex-chairman of the Tojo, Kiryu is forced back into the Yakuza world after Terada is murdered. Launched head first into a conspiracy with a Korean mafia and forced to cover the Tojo’s ass once more. He appoints a new chairman as well, Dojima Daigo, to head the Tojo.

Kiwami 2 Also includes a separate side-story featuring Majima called the Majima Saga. A gap filler to tie up some loose ends for him from Yakuza 0 with it’s own shorter story and unique characters.

Yakuza 3: 2009

Kiryu moves to Okinawa to run an orphanage. Things do not go as planned whatsoever.

Yakuza 4: 2010

Shifting from the original formula, this game has four playable characters that all have their own storyline that eventually ends up intertwining in the finale. The playable characters are:

Tanimura Masayoshi: A corrupt cop

Akiyama Shun: A loan shark

Saejima Taiga: Majima’s sworn brother, a convict in prison for killing 18 men.

and Kiryu again.

Yakuza 5: 2012

Like Yakuza 4, Yakuza 5 has multiple protagonists *five this time* and all of their stories intertwine and come together in the end.

Tanimura is not present, instead the protagonists are the same as Yakuza 4 with the addition of Haruka as a playable character, and Shinada Tatsuo, an ex-baseball player who got caught up in a conspiracy that saw him fired from professional baseball after his first game in the pro league.

Yakuza 6: 2018

The ‘grand finale’ of the Kiryu saga. A new city, a new conspiracy, and a blow out that takes many turns and shifts the saga in a different direction.

Yakuza 7: Like A Dragon: 2020

Our new protagonist is Kasuga Ichiban. Unlike the previous games, this is an RPG, complete with a unique party and the series first attempt at turn based combat. It is one of the other long games and one of the best, IMO.

I won’t be expanding on Judgment here, because I want to keep this post as contained as I can for ease of reading. However, I do absolutely recommend the judgment series.

What can you expect?

With Yakuza, there is a blend of serious and silliness that is balanced to almost perfection. It’s a formula the series does extremely well. There are dark elements, some outdated elements, and some truly off the walls qualities that make the series fun an engaging. They are big, and can be intimidating at first, but with time, they are more manageable play wise than one might think.

Important to Note:

Not every game has the same engine.

All of them offer difficulty levels. However, the difficulty mostly affects only the levels of enemies, and how hard fighting can be and how scarce some health items.

Most of the games offer ‘legend run difficulty” after completion.

Do not dismiss the side content. It is as rich and engaging at times as the main story.

There are lots of mini games.

Don’t be afraid of exploring.

Karaoke is one of the best things in the games.

Most games have hostess clubs.

Some games are more grind-heavy than others.

THE OLDER GAMES DO NOT HAVE AUTO SAVE. Only the most recent ones do. BE CAUTIOUS. Especially in Yakuza 0. FIND PHONE BOOTHS. Hide outs and phone booths are how you save in the earlier games.

It’s a serious crime drama. ;) (No it really is, you will cry. I promise this. It’s worth it).
