Not to be pedantic (except yes, I will happily own this pedantry 100%) but something I am really interested in/curious about is like, what are your Bleach AP SC Style Guides? Like, whether it’s a matter of subconscious taste or intentional consistency (or lack thereof):

By what names do you refer to characters in Bleach? (Family? Given? Personal nickname?) Is there rhyme or reason to this?

If applicable (e.g. you write fic/art with dialogue/RP/have character convos in your head) -- How do you have characters refer to each other (names/titles/honorifics)? Is there rhyme or reason to this?

What proper nouns or speciality vocabulary (zanpakutou, etc.) do you use in Japanese vs. in translation? Do you use both interchangeably?

Do any of these answers differ depending on whether you’re speaking/writing casually vs. ‘formally’ in your fic/art/RP/meta/etc.?

One of the best things about the various iterations of tmnt is how different yet similar each variation of the brothers is. None of them are better than past or future versions, they just go about the same things in their own way. None are abusive, none are perfect, they’re all brothers with their own set of weaknesses and their own set of strengths.

Each variation has some eye brow raising moments where you’re like “hey that one went a little too far there-“ but nothing makes them irredeemable or bad brothers. They’re just brothers - and family isn’t perfect.

Me: okay so how I think this works is he paints the room inside it first to make the interdimensional space, and then paints the door closed over it, so he can paint whatever he wants in the room 🤔

Partner: oh yeah that’s cool, so he can put furniture or a happy little tree in 😋

Me, suddenly vibrating: okay but no he actually paints a Happy Little Tree and it’s just a tree in the corner of this completely dark room that just giggles softly all the time 🫠

Partner: …. And we tell the party as a joke the first time about this old cell the boy was in with a happy lil tree 😏

Me: and then we don’t say anything for like 2 years and then one of them gets put in the dark room and they just hear giggling 🤩

(The boy was being kept as a pet by Evil Tony Stark because he glows for Fey Reasons and was pretty literally a living sculpture for 11 years and they did not exactly worry about the “living” part much)

Me: so you find this cute sweet little construct friend and then you go a little further into the room and just see hundreds of partially or fully deconstructed bodies of this exact little guy and most of them are just minorly different aesthetics because Evil Tony Stark just trashes them when he wants a new look

Also one is still just barely alive and that’s because it’s one of the ones with a person’s soul bound to it and they’ve just been cuddling in the dark for months since they were abandoned 🥰

I think advice like this is generally good and am aware that me complaining about it will probably be the "why doesn't your post account for my personal circumstances specifically, internet stranger?!" thing people love to make fun of, but nonetheless I can't help but feel bitter because "repeated positive low stakes interaction" for me has almost always fizzled out before it could deepen because the effort is just not worth the reward for either of us and pretty much all my significant friendships have been formed by (a) being approached by someone with enough confidence and extroversion to make "treating a stranger like a best friend" actually work or (b) instant familiarity because we're bonding over a shared interest and our enthusiasm over the topic is more important than how well we know each other or (c) quick recognition of each other as similar personality types and agreement to cut the bullshit and communicate in a way best suited to our type. And the tone of this type of advice always makes me feel like it's saying "the way you do friendship is wrong and you're wrong for thinking it could work, grow up". Which is uncharitable of me, I know op of that post is just trying to be helpful and has been helpful to many people reblogging the post! Still feel bitter about it though.

Listen......if Desmond was in Edward Kenway's time. What if he accidentally became the king of Pirates. Like he became sailor get some currency cos dollar bills won't work and the ship he work in was attacked and captain just aborted and abandoned the ship so Desmond just used his bleed effecting and defeated the attackers but he's like the captain is gone fuck I can't go back and just sailed to find treasure chests (using eagle vision maybe) and made a reputation that reach Edward, Black beard, James and the pirate gang , the templars and assassins ears

I had to check if King of the Pirates was an actual thing and the closest I could find that wasn’t One Piece related was Henry Avery and I’m more familiar with him because of Uncharted 4 so I'm gonna borrow Uncharted 4's personality for Avery in this one.

So let’s say Desmond Miles got kicked into Black Flag timeline and he became a crew member of a certain pirate out of necessity because he just can’t seem to find any Assassins in this timeline.

The captain of the ship he’s on was good to him. Didn’t ask any questions and seemed okay with just Desmond doing whatever he wanted as long as he gets the work done. But Desmond starts to butt heads when the captain starts to get too greedy. Too brutal.

They started hitting on merchant ships, killing innocent sailors.

Of course, the captain starts to laugh, reminding Desmond that they were pirates.

This is what they do.

And Desmond realizes that he had been blind to the captain’s ruthlessness because of the kindness he showed.

The captain wasn’t kind for the sake of being kind. He was kind because he knew that would make Desmond trust him.

So Desmond did what he was trained to do.

He assassinates the captain.

And he gives the crew two options. Either they help him sail the ship to the nearest port and they all leave or they try and take down Desmond right here and now.

Of course, these are pirates and they stayed with their captain for a reason. Most of them attacked Desmond and it was only because of the knowledge he got from his Bleed that he even managed to take them all down. It’s a bloodbath, that’s for sure.

And, in the end, Desmond remains in the bloody ship with perhaps two or three crew members who didn’t attack him. Not enough to man the ship, of course, but…

They were transporting prisoners from the last ship they hit.

So Desmond makes a deal with them, help him sail the ship then they’re free to go.

It’s a tense voyage, of course. People not trusting each other. Desmond had to fight off three or four assassination attempts made by desperate people who weren’t really trying to kill him not out of greed but out of fear.

And when they finally reached the nearest port that wouldn’t just bombard them with cannon balls and other projectiles, Desmond gives each person the same amount of gold from the captain’s coffers and then left.

Or… tried to anyway.

When he was in the tavern, eating the first hot meal he’d had in months, some of the sailors and the remaining crew members came to his table.

Desmond was confused, of course, until the men spoke.

They were all wanted men now.

No one would believe them if they say that they were just let go by some strange man in a hood (“I’m not strange… am I?”).

They had nowhere else to go.

And now it was Desmond’s problem.

Desmond just wanted to find the freaking Assassins and maybe the reason why he’s in this time period for some reason.

But there is a sense of responsibility banging into his heart right now.

Seeing the downtrodden looks of every man at the table…

Desmond sighs and agrees to be their captain.

“But, if I’m going to be your captain, there’s gonna be some rules!”

“Whatever you say, cap’n.”

“And… the ship needs a makeover.”

“A what now?”

And that is how the legendary pirate king Henry Avery disappeared…

And Captain Desmond Miles of the Bad Weather (name subject to change) started roaming the seas as the strangest nicest pirate in the West Indies (who just so happens to have a knack for finding sunken and buried treasures)

THAT BAD #IF YOU GUYS SAY YESS YOULL SEE #ok but nasty bad art aside I know some of you will be asking why white Montag is such a bad thing and #there isn’t anything wrong with it!!! it’s just that for me personally #after I did a bit more thinking I was. physically incapable of perceiving Montag as anything other than POC/nonwhite #so when I look back at my old f451 art and stare into the eyes of a pale skittish twink it just #it doesn’t click. like that isn’t MY Montag if ykwim #now trembling BROWN skittish twink. that’s a different story #AGAIN I DONT have any issues with ppl making their own versions white I just think that . for me specifically. he looked a bit funny #a little off. a bit too crackerish for my liking #where is bros melanin 😭 #I’m complaining right now but if I wanted to I could just… go in and try and make the skin tone darker #I might do that depending on how tired I feel after doomscrolling #also if it matters even though I have read the book over at least 8 times now not once have I touched either of the movies. #and it will STAY THAT WAY. until I completely log my notes for the book #then I can move on to the movies 🥰 #but I will admit 2018 did sort of lead me to having a change of heart w my design. just a little. just a teensy bit. kinda. sort of? #actually not really now that I think about it #I have my own reasons. #TOO MANY WHITE PEOPLE MY EYES THEY BURN AAAYHHHHH MY EYES OW OW OW OWIEEEE #my Beatty design was so white that my eyes developed stage 4 cataracts #I needed a palate cleanser that WASNT Millie… oh god my Millie design… #she was white there too. terrible #it’s okay… 💔 I’ve since learned and moved on #ARGH GUYS I DONT HATE WHITE PEOPLE I JUST THINK THAT MORE SKIN COLOR VARIATIONS WOULD E NICE
