The town you and Itachi chose to stop in for lunch was small. It was surrounded by forest on all but one side where it connected to the main road, It had a tall mountain range behind it and many natural hot springs. The scenery around it was beautiful and the town itself was lively and bright. Many of the buildings you passed seemed to be hotels, so you guessed that this was a place people came to relax and vacation.
So, despite its small size it was still quite busy, making it easy for you and Itachi to stay unnoticed as the two of you weaved your way through the crowd, trying to find a good place to grab a quick meal and be on your way. It wasn’t that you were in a hurry to get back to the Akastsuki base, you were certainly not looking forward to facing the heaping stack of paperwork that had accumulated over the week because of your procrastination, however, you were looking forward to sleeping in your own bed.
“How about that one?” you asked, pointing to your right at a sushi place. It looked to be fairly empty, and you guessed that was because it had just opened not too long ago, considering the paper posted on the side stating the hours.
Itachi turned following your gaze, and humming in agreement after a second. The two of you found an empty table by the far corner of the open restaurant to sit down at, neither of you looking to hard at the menu before ordering.
Slowly, the restaurant began to fill up, people pouring in in groups and the place becoming loud with chatter. You didn’t try to make conversation with Itachi, knowing that your attempts would not be reciprocated and instead be met with silence. It didn’t bother you as much as it used to when you had first started working with him, you had quickly learned that he was a man of very few words. You often found yourselves sharing a comfortable silence when you were together. There wasn’t much to talk about anyway.
It didn’t take to long for your food to be prepared, and the two of you ate in silence, digging in the second the server had turned his back and whispering a small praise to the chef. Once you were done you paid and got up to leave. However, you didn’t get too far out of the restaurant before a light tug on the bottom of your cloak stopped you. Looking down you saw a small child looking back up at you, teary eyed and a desperate look painting her face.
You frowned unsure of what to do and glanced back up at Itachi who was stopped a few feet away from you, his usual stone-cold expression gone now and his own unsure frown replacing it. You weren't sure whether to ignore the girl, or stop for her. You weren’t in a particular hurry though, you thought. Another tug on your cloak and the sound of a small sniff brought you back to reality, and you looked back to the little girl by your feet.
Crouching down so that you were eye level with her you spoke to her gentley, “What's wrong?” Your statement didn’t help, instead a fresh wave of tears spilled down her cheeks and she let out a cry.
Her reaction deepened the frown on your face and made you even more confused. It wasn’t that you didn’t like kids or that you were particularly bad with them, you just didn’t interact much with them given the type of ‘career’ you had.
You looked up, glancing around and looking for anyone who may have been willing to help you, only to be met dirty looks being sent your way. You tried again, asking her something different, “What's your name?” Again, your question did nothing to calm her, only making her cry harder and tug on your cloak.
You sighed looking up at Itachi, who had moved closer to your side now, and sending him a pleading look for help. He only shrugged his shoulders wordlessly, wearing that same emotionless expression again as he watched you struggle to help the little girl.
You looked back at the girl, biting your lip in frustration and looking at her to try and get an idea of what to do. The words on her shirt caught your attention. English. Her shirt was written in English. Maybe she didn’t speak Japanese, that must have been why she was so distressed earlier when you spoke to her, because she couldn’t understand you.
“What's your name?” you asked again, this time in English. You reached up and stroked her hair in attempt to calm her down enough so she could answer...if she had understood you that was. Itachi raised his eyebrows in surprise from next to you, you had never mentioned that you could speak English, and so well no less.
Thankfully she had, her tears slowed, and she sniffed before answering, “N-neda.”
“What's wrong Neda? Where are your parents?” you asked, relieved that she could now understand you.
“I-I don’t know, I lost them,” she sniffed again, tears beginning to well in her eyes once more.
“Hey, don’t cry, we’re going to find your parents, okay?” You began stroking her hair again with one hand, using the other to wipe away the few tears that had escaped her eyes. Neda nodded. “Now, where was the last place you were with them?”
She turned and pointed to a stand that sold traditional Japanese clothes and home decorations among other things. It looked to be a tourist shop and much to your relief you saw a couple standing in front of the shop, looking hysterical as they looked around and pulled over passer byers, speaking to them in a panic. You couldn’t hear what they were saying but you had a pretty good guess.
Standing up, you took Neda’s hand in yours, as to make sure she wouldn’t get lost from you, and walked over to the stand where the couple was standing. You weren't sure if the parents would speak Japanese, considering their daughter didn’t, so you played it safe and spoke to them in English.
“Excuse me?” you said, getting the couples attention, “Is this your daughter?” you gestured to Neda, who was already running to her mother to wrap her small arms around her mother's leg in a make shift hug.
“Oh my!” the lady shrieked dropping to her knees and pulling her daughter into a hug, which Neda happily returned. “We were so worried about your sweety! Don’t you ever run off like that again, you understand me!” her mother said scolding her, already beginning to too lecture Neda on the importance of staying close by them. You looked back up from the scene, your eyes glittering in amusement. Her father shook his head and sighed from above them, obviously very relieved that his daughter was back with them.
“Thank you so much, we were so worried,” he said with a small chuckle.
“It's no problem,” you assured with a smile, “I really need to get going though, enjoy your stay!” The couple called another ‘thank you’ and you turned, heading back to Itachi who was still standing in the same place, watching the whole ordeal unfold. The both of you fell into an easy pace as you got back to him, walking side by side as you left the village.
“I didn’t know you could speak English,” Itachi broke the silence.
“Yeah...I’m pretty out of practice since I haven't spoken in a while,” you explained sheepishly.
“You speak well, better than anyone I've met actually.” You looked up at him, a small smile spreading over your face. It was rare to hear itachi compliment someone, so it was all the more special when he did.
“Really?” he nodded, “no one's ever told me that...I always thought I didn’t speak well and couldn’t pronounce the words properly,”
“Thats not the case at all,” he assured. Your smile widened into a grin and you looked back to the road feeling a new found confidence in your second language wash over you.
“Can you speak English?” you asked him
“Enough to get me by if I would need,” he replied looking at you, “maybe you could teach me sometime though.” His words pulled a small laugh from you, and you smiled
“I’ll hold you to your word.”

A sneak peek
Fandom: Naruto Pairing/starring: Uchiha Itachi x fem!reader Word count: 1006 Content: Smut without plot, kind of voyeurism, getting off in public, maybe out-of-character behaviour, probably something I’ve forgotten. A/N: Drabble-esque. Inspired by a random thought from Maladaptive-Ninja-Returns so blame her.

A sneak peek
... Itachi ...
He knows that he ought to stay away from Konohagakure. Anytime he shows up, it’s a risk to him and in extension to the Akatsuki. But he has too many arguments for why he must come and why no one else can do what he does in Konoha and so he has returned “home” once more.
Idly wandering through the city, Itachi adjusts the simple disguise while ticking off his accomplishments on a mental list:
- Get in through the hidden path that none of the other Akatsuki know about. Check. - Confirm that Danzo is still up to his usual business. Check. - Listen in on assignment distribution with the Hokage. Check.
And the more personal ones:
- Check out the old Uchiha neighbourhood, spending a few minutes in the room where he sealed his brother’s fate. Check. - Follow said revenge-hungry little brother for a while, watching him train with a fury reserved for those fuelled by hate. Check.
Now there’s only one more thing left to do and he’s well on the way to accomplish that too which is visiting a specific little tea house where they make the best jasmine tea. Self-indulgent, maybe, but he thinks he deserves a bit of a treat.
It’s a busy little place but he’s fortunate to get a seat in the corner where he has a nice view of the interior with the comings and goings of patrons. Glancing around, his eyes meet those of a woman sitting in the corner near the entrance but he quickly averts his gaze, knowing better than to risk leaving a lasting impression. He’s seen enough to know that she’s gorgeous, though. If circumstances had been different, he might have tried his luck with this beauty but as things are, he has to be discreet.
That’s why he’s concerned when he glances in her direction again and finds her openly staring at him. Well, not staring at him...more like through him. The pretty mouth slightly agape, her chest is rising and falling faster than would be expected, and Itachi worries that this stranger somehow has recognized him.
Thankfully, a skilled Uchiha can deal with this situation without creating a fuss and he fixes his gaze on hers. Even in the dim light, he can see colours in her eyes that most people would miss and he allows himself to enjoy it before diving deep into her mind.
Dōjutsu.
Under normal circumstances, Itachi would imprint his own visions into the target’s mind, ensnaring them in a world of his creation where they could be trapped for what could seem like days on end. This time, however, he doesn’t get as far as to do anything because he’s taken aback by what he sees:
It’s the tea house...but there are no other patrons left to witness what is going on. Clothes haphazardly pulled aside, the woman is lying on a table with her legs wrapped around the waist of Itachi himself as he rails her – there’s nothing tender about it and so it’s the only appropriate term he can come up with. Each thrust of his hips makes the woman groan and babble. She’s keening and begging fore more. Her hands are scrabbling for purchase and with the power behind Itachi’s trusts, he knows that it’s only the grip on her hips that is preventing her from careening off the table and onto the floor.
Baffled by the display, the real Itachi simply watches, acutely aware of the growing need that he’s true body is starting to feel.
Never once do they use each others’ name, not even as she spasms around her Itachi’s cock, making him stutter in his ministrations and grit his teeth. The real Itachi knows that he must be on the verge of cumming and is surprised to see the dream him pull out and get on his knees to lap at the woman. Slow and careful, he cleans her like this and coaxes her down until her breath evens once more.
“More, please,” she whispers and Itachi sees his own smirk on the figment of imagination.
Merging with her daydream, Itachi’s point of view changes to be looking down at the ruined woman. Breasts spilling out of clothes that are askew. Puffy lips. Eyes that are swallowed by lust.
He wants to feel her, have her.
Leaning down, he plants a languid kiss on her mouth before whispering: “Come with me, when I ask you.”
And with that he enters her in one swift thrust.
... Reader ...
Shaking yourself back to reality, you’re first hit with a wave of satisfaction. Your core is throbbing, so close to the edge like you’ve never been before from a simple daydream. No...this isn’t being on the edge, you realize. This is from coming down! Imagination has made you climax? Oh, but what a daydream.
Blinking, the world is brought into focus once more and you notice the handsome stranger looking right at you, a smirk on his lips. You must have been staring! For how long? It feels like a long time, but you know that time is an illusion when it comes to the games the mind can play and so you try to brush the nagging thought of having stared creepily at a stranger for hours aside.
With shaking hands, you reach for the remainder of your tea only to find that it’s gone cold.
Something makes you look up and there’s the stranger, standing right next to you. Your heart begins to race now that you can pick up his scent and you recognize it from the last half of your daydream.
He bends, lips brushing your ear, to whisper: “Thank you for your lively imagination...how about we go elsewhere so it won’t only be a daydream?”
You’re stunned at the offer but even more so at how perfectly it fits with what you’d imagined might happen and you find yourself putting the teacup down and accepting the stranger’s hand.

Let Me- Itachi Uchiha ❤️🖤

Word Count: 1.6k
Contents: f!reader, x-reader, fluff
Warnings: Mostly Fluff, Mentions of Arousal, Nudity. If you’re under 18, please stay away! Thank you! ❤️
Summary: You and Itachi are just getting back from a mission for the Akatsuki when you stumble upon a bath house. You convince him to go and bath together. This leads to something new for you both.
His long hair felt like silk under your fingertips. Pulling the hair tie from it and letting the black locks fall over his pale shoulders. Your fingers brushed through the strands detangling any knots before pouring warm water over him. With a sigh he relaxed ever so slightly. His heart thudded in his chest from the closeness, feeling exposed and vulnerable.
Itachi hadn’t felt this type of affection in a long time. He blushed at how gentle you were being. How soft your fingertips were. When you had suggested bathing together, he had no idea it’d be this… therapeutic. You had known each other for a while now and Itachi had finally come around to letting you in. He told you of his illness, his chronic pain, and his now vision problems. You always reassured him whenever he needed it, and gave him someone to confide in. Something he hadn’t had since his late friend, Shisui.
You lathered his hair with soap and made sure to scrub and massage his scalp. Both of you sat in an empty hot spring you had stumbled upon after finishing your last mission together for the Akatsuki. Both of you are tired and needing a break, a moment to forget the stressors of your lives. You brought up the hot spring and told him it may ease some of his pain. He was reluctant, but he couldn’t say no to the cute puppy dog eyes you gave him. Then when you realized the bath house was empty, that’s when you suggested bathing together. Itachi felt like it was out of the question. Yet somehow, you still managed to convince him. No Genjutsu required.
Rinsing the suds from his hair, Itachi leaned into you further. You sat behind him on the ledge with your feet in the water. He sat between your legs selfishly relishing in your touch. When you both had met, you fell for his stoic and brooding personality instantly. Always attracted to the quiet types, wanting to know more. Itachi never gave much thought to you but admired your fighting spirit. He respected you for your skill, and eventually gained some sort of feelings for you. Even if he wouldn’t admit it wholeheartedly and tried to ignore it.
With his arms propped up behind himself on your thighs he leaned his head back. Trying his best to watch you as you continued running your fingers through his hair. Looking past your breasts to your blushing yet blurry face. His heart thudded even louder as he realized you were making eye contact with him. You gave him a sweet smile and placed your hands on the sides of his face gently.
“You’re so pretty, you know that?” He swallows hard at your words and blinks rapidly before sitting up. The water splashing in the quiet and warmly lit bathhouse. Your giggle makes him furious, yet he blushes all the same. He hated when you made him flustered, made him feel powerless. “Itachi, it’s okay! You don’t have to put your guard up around me. I’m not going to hurt you.” You moved down into the water, wrapping your arms around his waist while you lay your head gently on his back.
He soon relaxed again, taking in a deep breath and putting his hands on yours. The two of you had never been this close before. You’ve chatted on late nights and over meals, but you had never been like this. It scared him. It scared you even. You had lost so much you couldn’t bear the thought of losing anyone else. He naturally assumed a relationship with him would lead to your death. Itachi whispered an apology, feeling tightness in the back of his throat.
Squeezing him tightly, you hummed and smiled. Moving slowly to maneuver your body around his just enough so you could look him in the eyes. His sharingan staring back into yours, switching between each of your eyes to try and guess your next move. Always on the defensive. You had planned to break him of that habit, at least when it came to you. You wanted him to feel nothing but safe when he was with you. “You don’t have to apologize for anything. Just let me take care of you, okay?”
Itachi said nothing as you moved back, keeping one hand on his side while you grabbed the soap. You started to lather it over his back and shoulders slowly. Washing all the dirt and sweat away from the hard day the two of you had. He hummed low in his chest, and it made you happy. Yet you wished you could wash him clean of all the weight he carries. The weight that he never complains or talks about. Yet it’s evident in the stress lines under his eyes; his shoulders that are tense and jaw that is almost always clenched. As you rinsed the soap from his back, you left feather light kisses over his shoulders and up his neck.
His fingers dug into his knees as he sat there, feeling as though his skin was on fire. Your hands moved up and massaged his shoulders with care, yet he tensed even more. This is too much. His thoughts rang loud in his ears, and he moved his hands back in the water to grab hold of your thighs. “You don’t have to do this, you’ve done plenty.” You cocked your head as you looked at the side of his face while he tried to look back at you, your hands still on his shoulders. With a smirk, you moved in to nuzzle over his shoulder blade with the tip of your nose.
“I know I don't have to, but I want to. I care about you Itachi, when will you realize that?” His lip trembles and his heart swells as he looks forward again. Maybe his feelings were harder to ignore now. With a squeeze to your thighs he quickly turns around. Hands now placed on your knees, face mere inches away from yours as he holds eye contact with you.
“Then at least let me take care of you. It’s the least I could do. You do too much for me anyways.”
You smile and shake your head. “Oh hush, I love taking care of you. But if you really want to, I’ll allow you to dote on me, just this once.”
A rare sight appeared before you as Itachi smiled. It made you blush and appreciate this moment even more. Some part inside you wishing it’d never end. Itachi moved behind you and carefully started wetting your hair. Brushing his fingers through the strands just as you had. He felt joy rush over him as he began bathing you. It gave him a sense of purpose again, minus any form of guilt. He watched as you relaxed into him, humming quietly each time his fingers rubbed over a new part of your scalp. His touch was a bit rougher than yours, he knew that, still he tried his best to handle you with care. Making sure your hair was clean and all the soap was rinsed out of it. When he reached for the body wash you told him he didn’t have to. Yet, Itachi insisted.
As his hands ran over your naked body you couldn’t help but feel a certain way. Heart beating rapidly, body temperature rising. Thoughts slowly getting corrupted. He noticed how you reacted to each new touch of his. The way you bit your lip and how your breath hitched any time his hand ran over a particularly sensitive part of your body. He felt his own self becoming aroused, a feeling that was usually more so a burden to him. This time however, he wanted nothing more than to give in. Touch you more, make your sweet hums turn to sultry moans. He groaned quietly, then slowly moved his hands away from you, opting to rinse your body of all the suds.
The warm water did little to help the heat inside you. You tried to steady our heart rate, but his everlasting closeness still made your skin tingle. Selfishness creeped its way into you, making you crave more of him. You looked back and noticed as he watched over your naked blurry body. Wishing he could see you clearly. He desired you, and he didn’t care anymore. He needed you.
“Itach-”
“Don’t- don’t speak.” He put his hand up to silence you and looked into your eyes. Moving that same hand to your face, cradling it tenderly before pushing it to the back of your neck. He moves forward before you could even blink and pulls you to him. Lips slotting with yours in a hungry kiss. You gasped into him and placed your hands on his arms to ground yourself. You felt like you were floating. Lips moving together so fluidly it was almost as if you were one.
Itachi's hands slid down your back and to your back side. He pulled you up and into his lap. You straddled him and ran your fingers through his damp hair. Urgency within the kiss as the two of you clawed at each other's skin. Almost as if you weren’t nearly as close to one another as you wanted to be. He bit at your bottom lip as you pulled away, gasping for air. You placed your forehead to his and he began to chuckle.
“I’m sorry, I uh, lost control a bit there.” You giggled with him; foreheads still pressed together.
“That’s alright! If I had known this would happen, I would have asked to bathe together sooner!”
He laughed louder now and kissed you again. “Well then, I’d say we have to bathe together more often then. If you don’t mind letting me, take care of you again.”
With a blush and a kiss to his nose you smiled. “As long as i can do the same for you.”
Thank you for reading! As always, reblog or leave a like if you enjoyed! I really adore this story and I hope you guys do too. I was blown away with how many people liked my last story. Means a lot to me, so thanks again guys! Next weeks story will be about Anbu Kakashi, so stay tuned! ^.^

"That hurts, Itachi."
You quietly sobbed as tears cascaded down your cheeks and dribbled down your chin, hitting the lush forest floor.
He remained silent as he bandaged your ankle that was probably broken by now. You two had been caught in a cross fire with dangerous convicts that had left the Hidden Leaf some years ago. You two were assigned to bring them in, but eliminate them if necessary. Unfortunately, they were a lot more quickwitted than you both had imagined and you both ended up scathed in the process.
Itachi not so much, but you, you were a hot mess. Usually, you were on the top of your game and one of the best Kunoichi in the Hidden Leaf, but you were totally off from the start and Itachi knew this mission was doomed from the moment he saw you this morning.
He couldn't blame you though. You were a person who was constantly surrounded by death, but you know what they say, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." And indeed that was true in your case, but after the death of the one of your close friends, you hadn't been the same since.
And he was aware of this, but despite him urging you not to come on this mission it was useless. Your mind was already made up and you were going. Well, all of your actions had been in vain, because not only had you not caught or eliminated your targets, but you were now stuck with a broken ankle and not so welcoming Itachi.
Obviously, he would be upset. He didn't care about the convicts that had remained free to roam, he cared about you. You, who was so careless about your own mental, emotional and physical well being. You threw caution to the wind and nearly got yourself killed today.
"Itachi?" You sniffled.
He hadn't noticed that he was mumbling to himself.
"'tachi..."
He gazed up at you with concerned and frustrated onyx eyes. His brows furrowed at you for a moment.
"You're so careless, [name]."
"I--" You opened your mouth to say something but he had caught you off.
"You don't care about your wellbeing and now look at you. You're left with this broken ankle that is practically rendering you useless." He shook his head and let out an exasperated sigh.
"I swear, sometimes, I don't know why I find myself caring for you so much. You would be such a frustrating wife..." He continued his mumbling as she finally finished up his handiwork.
You felt both elated and nervous as hell. Did he really just say "wife"?!
"Itachi..." You bit your lip as you struggled to get his attention.
"Itachi."
He peered up at you again and your gaze was flustered as hell as you felt your heart palpitate against your chest in joy.
"What is now, [name]? Can't you see that I'm trying to secure your ankle so that it doesn't heal incorrectly?" He huffed at you.
His eyes blinked several times as he readjusted his vision to look at you, causing him to flush red. "W-what is it? Why are you looking at me like that?"
You pressed your lips together before you spoke. "You just said I'd be a 'frustrating wife.'"
A long paused and several astonished blinks later, Itachi was now inflamed to the ears. "I--I--I don't know what you're talking about."
"C'mon." You nudged him playfully and he did his best to ignore you.
"You suddenly don't want to wife me anymore?"
His down cast eyes raised to you and for a moment he just analyzed your face, before pulling at your cheek.
"Ow! Itachi!"
"You think you can just act like a brat all day and then tease me?" He scolded with cheeks still flushed red.
"You're hurting meeee." You whined as tearing fell down your face at an alarming rate.
He sighed and let go of your cheek and turned away from you as he crouched down. "Come on."
You rubbed your cheek that had been pulled raw by him and huffed. "Come on, what?"
He half turned to you and smiled. "Get on, already. We don't have all day. It's getting dark out."
You felt your lips tremble for a moment as you struggled not to sob like a baby and smile like an idiot. You silently held onto him and before you knew it, the trees had become a blur as Itachi expertly wizzed past them.
He heard you sniffle and you quickly covered your nose.
"Why are you crying, [name]?" He asked softly.
"Don't worry about it."
"Did I hurt your feelings?"
"No."
"Then what?"
You felt the tears cascade down your cheeks again.
"Because you're so good to me despite how shitty and reckless I am!" You wailed out into the forest. Your voice had echoed causing the birds that were perched in branches to fly away.
You heard Itachi softly chuckle under his breath.
"Don't make fun of me!"
"I'm not. You're just..." He held back on the words he was about to say.
"Just what?"
He shook his head at you with a grin that only grew.
"What?" You demanded.
"When you cry it's just so ugly that it's cute because, well, it's you. And everything you do is cute." He admitted.
You sat there bewildered at his words.
"Ugly?!"
"This is why I didn't want to say anything." He muttered to himself.
"What do you mean I'm ugly?!"
"I never said that." He felt a small vein above his brow start to protrude outward.
"You just--"
Suddenly he stopped sprinting and you were only a few feet away from the Hidden Leaf. The sun was just above the horizon as it slowly sunk in the city line.
You two remained silent as the apricot glow of the sun coated the both you.
"Do you see that?" He suddenly asked.
"What?" You replied still vexed at him.
He rotated his head to face you and gazed down at his cute face that you only dreamed of kissing. The corners of his lips lifted and the sparkle in his onyx eyes were chockful of amusement and sincerity.
"You're my sun, [name]. You make my days bright when I'm feeling low."
"That's so incredibly corny of you." You deadpanned and his face fell flat.
You burst out into a fit of giggles, watching how he had gotten embarrassed. You placed a chaste kiss to his cheek, leaving him speechless and rosy.
"Now we're even."
Your smile was taunting yet beautiful, and he could only be upset for you for so long. His frown quickly turned into a grin as he laughed along side you.
"Let's get you some medical attention." He said squeezing your left leg as he peered down at your bandaged foot.
You pouted down at it. "Will you stay with me?"
He gazed up at you before placing a kiss to your jaw, causing your heart to thrum against your chest.
"Always."

The Eye of the Blood Red Moon
Chapter One: Knock on Wood
Tw: Kidnapping, Swords, and Scary Descriptions
“I’m home.” Naruto was greeted by his dark and empty apartment, the moonlight barely shining through the window. Dust had settled around the place, books and scrolls carelessly scattered around the wooden flooring. Dishes and Trash were piled in their respective places, although they had needed to be washed and taken out days ago. He kicked off his shoes and walked to his bed, fatigue weighing him down. He slightly glanced at the stack of ramen bowls, but decided against opening one up, instead opting to collapse onto his bed. Not even bothering to change into his night clothes, he hugged his pillow and wished for the morning to come quickly.
But his mind was racing. Training under Jiraiya– one of the three legendary sannin, who constantly was pushing him towards goals– and turning out to be a Jinchuriki; having the same tailed beast inside of him that had almost succeeded in destroying his village years ago, the same beast that had killed his mother and father, who would have killed him if not for his parents his parents who had sacrificed their lives to keep their child and the village safe. Thoughts sped through his mind, denying his body’s roaring cry for sleep.
A knock at the door pulled him out of his thoughts, a loud and sharp sound in contrast to the stillness of the night. Naruto rubbed his eyes and dragged himself to the door, silently wishing to himself that it was just his imagination playing tricks on him.
“Jiraiya Sensei, why are you-” Adrenaline kicked in, his heart beating harder and harder, until his chest started to pound and ache from the harsh breaths of cold, stale air he was taking in while frozen to the floor, hands shaking as his courage swelled and diminished at nearly the same time. “What the- Who are you? Why are you here?” The man stepped into the apartment as Naruto’s words echoed throughout it, his eyes locked onto Naruto as he walked forward, the floor creaking beneath his feet, denying an answer to the questions. A small amount of moonlight reflected grimly off of his damaged headband and revealed a blood red cloud pattern on his worn down cloak that hid his body like the pitch-black shroud, but not one of a dead man who was being buried six feet deep. He was wearing the shroud of death; the shroud of the grim reaper himself.
“Hard to believe that such a child carries a nine-tailed fox.” Naruto stumbled backwards, the floor rough against his calloused hands as he tried to compose himself enough to try and do something instead of freezing in his spot like the cat he had to chase down and catch– like a predator that would pursue its prey– on one of his first missions.
“Itachi.” A second man walked across the threshold, larger than the first while wearing the same pitch-black shroud of death that concealed his body. His eyes were white pinpricks in the dark, until he stepped into the light, where his headband harshly reflected the same moonlight that displayed the pale tone of his sharply outlined face. “It’ll be a pain in the neck if this kid makes a run for it.”
Itachi glanced back at the second man, thinking about what he had implied. “Right.” He shifted to the side so that the taller man could walk up to Naruto with ease. His cloaked arm made its way back towards the dull outline of a wrapped sword resting on his back, the dark fabric shifting once again as he removed the sword from its resting place.
What should I do? Do I have time to use Ninjutsu? Should I attack with my Kunai? Thoughts once again swirled around his head as he tried to move, but his body felt stuck in place, as if it had melded with the ground beneath him, too tense to even try to move from where he shamefully cowered in his own apartment. His eyes were frozen to the intruder when the sword started coming down towards him, time moving too slow as he took in the sharp smile etched upon the pale mans face, his teeth too sharp to be human, those eyes that grinned, locking with his own, the white pinpricks crinkled in the glee of violence, markings upon his sharp face moved with the ever so widening sneer as the blade lowered further and further down towards his target with an off-white wrapping, the blade which was wrapped that was too rounded to be sharp, the hands holding the sword too pale to be human, the damaged yellow ring etched with the word North, his nails painted as black as the void that swallowed Naruto whole.
The man sheathed the strange sword before picking up Naruto’s unconscious body, throwing him over his shoulder to carry him easier, though he didn’t weigh very much to the man. “That was less of a fight than I had figured there was going to be.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself Kisame. We still need to get out of the village.” Itachi looked around at the pitiful apartment while Kisame picked up the Jinchuriki. He turned around and walked out, glancing behind to make sure his partner was following as he led him down the staircases from the highest floor of the apartment building to the ground floor, where they exited with no witnesses to their crime, and glad to be back on the dirt where their steps were muffled instead of the wood flooring that creaked and moaned with every step they would take, potentially giving away their whereabouts and their very mission.
Walking through the village was easier in the veil of the night, when the pale moon didn’t see and the burning stars couldn’t talk, when the dirt road consumed the sounds of their feet quietly thudding against it. Nobody was out in the dead of night as well, the lights all snuffed, letting the once casted shadows engulf the streets of konohagakure.
The only variable that remained was the most precarious. Jonin and Anbu that were possibly returning from missions could still be walking around and outside of the village, so the men had to be silent and take care not to attract any unwanted attention, lest they be attacked and lose the unconscious Jinchuriki, which would result in failure of the mission, making it harder to ever try and capture him again.
“Jonin, hide.” Itachi helped Kisame up into a tree nearby to lie low for a moment, considering he had the Jinchuriki. After Kisame was up, Itachi jumped and landed on a thick branch, concealing himself in the heavy leaves that assisted in keeping him from being detected.
Kisame watched as the Jonin walked past them into the gates of the village, unaware of the danger that lurked right above their heads. Their pace was leisurely, contradicting their stressful and hazardous missions that they were more often than not assigned to. Their obvious pale grey outfits and white masks faded from view as they entered the village, leaving Itachi and Kisame alone once again in the silence of the night.
“And they call themselves ninja?” Itachi only lowered himself to the ground, seemingly ignoring Kisame’s remark. He motioned for Kisame to come down as well, so the pale man jumped down from his spot in the tree, feet thudding on the ground beside Itachi.
“You need to be more quiet Kisame.” He didn’t look back at his partner as he spoke, instead continuing to run at a fast pace, eager to get away from the village which harbored his dark and gruesome past. “Don’t forget there could be more Jonin and Anbu in the surrounding area.” He quickly glanced at the dark trees encompassing them, some of the trees bark torn and scratched from kunai and shuriken, and others charred and blackened from Ninjutsus.
Kisame only nodded at his partners command, but the need to ask questions still churned inside of him. He knew that Itachi had a past with the village, being an Uchiha, and that he had slaughtered his own clan. But Kisame didn’t know why he did it; no one other than Itachi himself knew why, but Kisame shoved the question to the back of his mind, as he respected Itachi’s wishes to keep his past to himself. After all, everyone had reasons for doing anything, as he and the other members of the Akatsuki had their reasons for joining, however different they might be. Itachi’s reasoning, much like his past, was covered in mystery that was certainly never to be revealed by him, as he kept his secrets hidden very well, as did all Uchihas, the clan itself was one big secret to those who were not among it. It may have even been a secret to those within it as well, but Itachi would never tell a soul about the inner workings of the clan he had slaughtered with his own blood-stained hands.
The forest started to get thinner and thinner, rotted trees far outnumbering the damaged healthy trees, roots torn up from the ground, revealing their deformed and twisted roots that spread wider than the trees were high. The dirt had also faded from their path, instead replaced with sand, the coarse grains filling their shoes and blowing harshly across their faces, cloaks trying aimlessly to stop the relentless tearing of the rough particles flying through the air only to collide into the two men who were on the run.
“The hideout shouldn’t be too far from here.” Itachi glared at Kisame, his partner disobeying his orders to refrain from talking to say something that they both already knew. Kisame locked eyes with Itachi, realizing his mistake. He sighed and adjusted the Jinchuriki that was carelessly tossed upon his shoulder barely even hours ago. “We should still be on the lookout for Sand and Leaf Shinobi. They’re like insects, you never know where they’ll be until you have to kill them.” The rough wind howled in response, saving Itachi from having to glare at his partner for saying such evident things.
"Let's hope we don't run into any then." Itachi suddenly turned North, with Kisame following closely behind. "And if we do, they shouldn't be much of a problem." His eyes narrowed, annoyed at the thought of having to stop to fight a few stray Jonin or Anbu that might block their path. If they were smart, they would keep to themselves and save the two men from the trouble of a fight, but chances were they would try and defeat the two men themselves, becoming arrogant and overconfident in their abilities that paled in comparison to the ability of even one of the Akatsuki members.
"And if we get spotted?" Kisame ran faster to be beside Itachi, facing the shorter man as he talked.
"We won't be." He slowed down to a stop as they came up upon the Akatsuki Hideout, The wooden Torii a bright crimson red in comparison to the dull brown of the rocks surrounding the arch. A few papers were stuck to the torii’s wood, and a larger paper with a symbol was posted on the large rock that stood behind the wooden arch. Some of the other members had gathered outside already.
"Where are the other members?" Pain's purple spiraled eyes narrowed ever so slightly at Kisame’s question, annoyance radiating off of him.
"You have the Jinchuriki?" Pain questioned whether or not the assigned Akatsuki members had finished their task, completely ignoring Kisame’s previous question, not caring to answer.
"Yes-"
"And he's alive, correct? You know we cannot work with a dead Jinchuriki."
"It'd be a lot easier if we could though." Deidara crossed his arms as he muttered and complained to himself, while Itachi glared daggers into the young Akatsuki member. “What? I’m just saying.” He quickly tried to diffuse the situation as he caught eyes with Itachi.
Pain sighed as the youngest member of the Akatsuki stumbled on his own words under the gaze of Itachi Uchiha. “Bring the Jinchuriki inside. We’ll start the… Technique when we are all gathered on top of the Statue.” He turned around and moved the large rock sealing the entrance, revealing the dark cavernous insides of the hideout. The sharp walls reflected a deep, sinister shade of wine purple that reached out towards the Akatsuki members, yet falling short before the torii, the sun breaking the shadow of its extended claws.
“Are you going to move, or not?” Pain’s annoyance was clear as he questioned the other members, sighing as they all gave him a silent nod, fearful of what may come if they spoke to him in his current state of irritation. He walked inside the opening of the dark cavern, the shadows swallowing him without a trace. The others outside of the cavern followed suit, the darkness of the cave consuming each of them one by one until there were none left.

What? A group of weird and charismatic people who do questionable things against the rotten world’s stability and (mostly) die young? I stood no chance.
