#me? about to use tumblr as a diary again? in 2024? unfortunately:/#but here have a waterfall i saw on a hike last week as payment#i am sO tired and exhausted emotionally after dating#there's this guy that i fr thought was going to last and be around for a long time. we spent like every moment together that we could for 2#months straight and if we werent physicaly together we were texting or calling or on ft . just every part of our day had the other in it#not once did i ever feel unwanted undesired or uncared for. not once did i feel that i wasnt sure of his intentions. i felt safer with him#in those 2 months than i ever did with any one else i could think to compare to.#until one day he just didnt think it important to communicate any more. after 3 days of nearly nothing .. hardly any talking . i asked if#he was ok if we were ok. what was going on in his head. he said some ive just been with my buddies and family and havent been on my phone#and just. immediately thats heartbreak yanno. thats :// thats what they say when theres a new girl. but there'd never been a reason to think#there was another girl so i was like ok we're gonna trust bc this dude has been So good in every way. so i said imy but i understand. enjoy#your time with your buddies and with your fam -- i cant wait to hear about it (and hold you)#and i havent heard from him in the 3 weeks since. just randomly#so last night#i send the dreaded 'i miss you' text.#i dont expect to hear back and i accept the hurt that will come with that and the confusion that i've felt settles deeper into my heart#until this afternoon i hop on ig and see a hard launch that was posted an hour after my text was sent#that shit kinda hurt different. but also sent me into a bit of a delirious state where all i could do is laugh bc are you for fucking real#did she see my message? i know it. bc i know him and i know that he wouldnt hide anything from the person he's giving his heart#and his softness to. i can almost imagine how he showed her and promised her theres nothing to worry about#and there really isnt anything to worry about because he genuinely is the type to give his all to the relationship he's in#which feels silly to say after what happened w us. like no there wasnt a title ever#it sucks to call it a situationship because a month ago we were laughing in bed together about how we could never bc we were all in.#just the timing of the hard launch makes me giggle. did my text push them to have a conversation about what they are. was she really the#reason that he went away on me.#im trying not to blame myself . trying not to think about the phone calls i didnt answer. about what i could have done differently. trying#not to think about where we would be if i didnt let my anxieties hold me back. if i wasnt scared about what he'd think of the parts of me#that i keep hidden just a little bit longer than the rest.#and at the same time im trying not to put him on a pedestal. but that pedestal is just where i wholeheartedly believe he belongs#he set the bar for me. he set the standard. i was never too much. i was never too little. he made me feel perfect just as i am

I had a day off yesterday.
And I can already practically hear the assumptions that such a statement is prompting the reader to make. Those assumptions are wrong. I don't mean I didn't work. I did, for about 8 hours. That's not at all what I mean.
I mean my wife took the kids out at 9:30, spent the night with her mom, isn't back yet the next morning.
There are things I NEED people on this website to understand about parenting. And I've talked about it before, and I'll talk about it again, because honestly the way that Tumblr as a cohort talks about parents makes me sick. Multiple polls have shown that only about 2% of people on here are parents. We're a huge minority, and we're constantly talked over, ignored, or accused of being bad parents (like, personally, I have had people reply to my comments or come on to my posts and tell me I shouldn't have my kids). In my case, being a parent means I'm almost 41, I'm married to @ramblingandpie, and our children are inching up on being 8 and 6 years old.
My entire day, and therefore my entire life, revolves around them. I'm up most mornings at 5 AM, because that's the earliest they're "allowed" to wake up, and so my brain just defaults to being awake around then - better to wake up before them, at least then I get a few minutes in the morning. Between 5 and 7, I sit with them, do my social media, work on side blogs, study Chinese. Then it's helping them get ready for school, then my wife or I or both get them on the bus, and then I work until the last possible minute, which is either when I need to go pick them up for an after school activity or when I need to go down and meet them off the bus. My afternoons are after school activities, chores such as washing the dishes and cleaning up toys, talking with them, working with them, playing with them. Their bedtime starts at 7:40, and my son gets scared if I leave before he falls asleep so I sit with him until about 8:15. As soon as he's asleep, I go fall on my face, sleep as best I can, then wake up and do it again. Overnight, it's hard to sleep deeply, because about once a week someone will wake up in the middle of the night and need help. That could be as minimal as a hug or as complex as having to completely change the bedding on a bunk bed at 2 AM while also comforting a child who is afraid they'll be in trouble, or afraid they're sick, or afraid of their nightmare, or, or, or. Further, if a child is awake, there is always noise. I usually study Chinese with two or more competing sources of noise. I read the same way. My life is loud, and active, and consists of constant interruptions.
I adore my family, and I love my children, but this is terrible for me.
I do all of this as an neurodivergent introvert. My clinical depression is at least medicated, mostly because post-partum depression after I gave birth the first time nearly drove me to suicidal in under a week (we were expecting this and were prepared, fortunately, getting help was as simple as a phone call). The constant noise and interruptions and forced socialibility are about the worst combination of home-life I could be subjected to. I spend far too many early mornings just breathing deeply and gearing myself up to be subjected to the wall of Loud, Boisterous, Needing-My-Attention that is every minute when anyone else in the house is awake.
So what did my day off look like?
I helped get the kids ready to go and did some morning chores. I'd been up at 4:30 AM so I also had already social media'd and studied. Then, while my wife finished the preparations, I started work, and I worked from about 8 am to about 4 pm, straight. I didn't get hungry so didn't bother stopping for lunch. No one interrupted me, no one asked me to look at anything they'd built, no one broke my concentration, no sounds could be heard except those I'd chosen myself.
I'd been out the day before at a local shopping street and listened closely to the things the kids said they wanted, so at 4 I grabbed a couple orders I needed to ship for work and drove to our local downtown, dropped the orders in a post box, then went back to the shops and did some Christmas shopping in the 45 minutes or so before everything closed. I think I'm basically done with what we'll get them - other bigger things will be left to grand parents - so that's a load off, I literally had a stress dream earlier this week about it being 12/24 and having forgotten to do the shopping and having to go to (oh horrors) the mall on the day before Christmas. (Reminder: I'm a Jewish atheist. It's just virtually impossible not to Holiday in the Culturally Christian Hellscape that is the US. Also, my wife is Christian. So.) Found something cute for my wife, too, even tho I already know the main thing I'm getting her. Then, I realized - one of my favorite restaurants is on that block. So. I went there. I sat by myself at a table, only the indistinct restaurant hubbub around me. I read four or five chapters of my book, and ate a savory crepe, and drank lovely fruit tea, and got a scone to-go that I'll eat for lunch today. It was more than I probably should have spent on myself - about $25, including tip - but fuck it. I only get maybe a handful of days off all year, and I'm allowed to indulge a little.
Then I came home. There were no lights on. There was no noise. I had considered doing some more merch work while watching TV on the actual television (my kids are too young for subtitled shows, so usually if I want to watch My Shows I either have to do it on my computer when they're not around, or put them on and read all the subtitles aloud while trying to keep up and process the actual meaning of what I'm reading). But when I got back, the quiet and dark was so goddamn NICE that instead I curled up on the couch and read more of my book. I did that until bedtime - still about 8:15, because I'm exhausted. Then...I went to bed. And I slept long and deep, knowing that there was no chance I'd be interrupted and woken up, I didn't have to be, even in sleep, alert to every noise and possibility that I'd be needed.
I'm still exhausted and burned out, but even one night to myself felt really, really nice.
Saying "Tumblr does X" as a universal statement is doomed to failure, but generally speaking, the parenting posts I see on Tumblr, the ones with tens or hundreds of thousands of notes, speak what's apparently widely seen as a truism on here: that unless someone wants to spend 24/7 with their kids, to be 100% emotionally available at all times, is always kind and patient and perfect, they are a bad parent, maybe even abusive. I remember when covid started, there were multiple posts actively mocking the "oh god, my kids are now home all the time, how am I supposed to do this?" attitude that a lot of parents posted in despair. WhY dId YoU hAvE kIdS iF yOu DoN't WaNt To SpEnD tImE wItH tHeM?
Look at what my usual day looks like.
Look at what my day off looked like.
Do you really think I don't want to spend time with my kids? Do you really think I don't love my kids?
But I'm not a fucking MACHINE. I'm a PERSON. That's what people on Tumblr seem to forget. PARENTS ARE PEOPLE. The same tumblrinas who post ~uwu be kind to yourself rest if you need to, you should forgive yourself for that mistake you made~ will turn around, with zero sense of irony, and post "you're a bad parent if you ever raise your voice around a child."
Expecting parents to be perfect means expecting parents to be inhuman. It also means that a parent can't be poor (can't spend all your time being the perfect parent if you have to work multiple jobs or weird hours!), can't be introverted (can't be a perfect parent if you're not completely emotional available, god forbid socializing is exhausting for you), can't be on the ADHD or autism spectrum (what do you mean you forgot to get your kid to a doctor's appointment once? what do you mean over-stimulation can make you angry? how dare you get angry at a kid!), can't be depressed (gotta get out of bed every single day, gotta always be upbeat, patient, happy, or else that's Evil), can't be (like my wife) physically disabled (what do you mean your hands hurt too much to hold a child's hand? are you denying them touch?? CRUEL). And when the only answer you can offer to that is, "if you can't be that perfect you shouldn't be a parent," then you're saying people who aren't middle class to wealthy, people who aren't neurotypical, people who aren't physically able, shouldn't have children.
And honestly...what the fuck is your problem?
I'm not perfect. I tell my kids to just leave me alone sometimes. I raise my voice, especially when one of my kids starts punching the other, but also sometimes just cause I'm exhausted and Can't Anymore. I've forgotten an appointment by accident and felt like a total fucking idiot, and I've skipped an after school activity because I just wasn't up for taking them. I've served them more unbalanced, unhealthy meals than I can count. I've made many, many mistakes, but I've also done my best, and I love my kids, and I hope that when they grow up, they'll still love me even as they recognize that I wasn't perfect, just as I've come to accept my own parents' short-comings while still loving them very much. They're people, too, and the older I get, the more I understand where they were coming from.
When I fuck up, I apologize.
When they tell me they're unhappy with something I've done, I apologize, and I try to do better. Sometimes I even succeed.
This shit is hard, yo. And it's getting harder every year.
I'm BEGGING Tumblr: you need to start seeing parents as people. The way y'all talk about parenting on here is toxic, and genuinely harmful, and frankly exhausting. You have no idea what the reality of raising kids is like, and you need to shut the entire fuck up.
I had a day off yesterday.
I might get one more before the end of 2023.
I already can't wait. I am so, so, so tired. sigh
(if you actually read this whole rant and even a single word of it resonated for you, please reblog it. I'm tired of never seeing positive posts about parenting while I see negative ones with a bajillion notes.)

Seven summers, part 5.
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x female!reader
Summary: Every summer, Draco and y/n meet. First, by pure coincidence, then intentionally. Unbeknown to Draco, y/n's a muggle who has no clue he's a wizard. With the rise of the dark lord, how long can this go well?
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Series Masterlist
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Fifth summer, August.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dear Draco,
I hope you're well. I am writing you this letter because I think we should talk about what happened last month.
I'm sorry I deceived you. I never meant to lie to you. At some point, I just didn't know how to say it. I wanted to tell you this summer, I swear! Then we kissed and everything was so different than expected. I just didn't have the courage to...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Dear Draco,
I know you're angry and you have every right to be. Please believe me when I say I didn't mean to betray you. Actually, until our third summer, I didn't know you were a wizard. I just thought it was a culture thing. Then, after you told me how you feel about muggles, I was afraid to tell you. I thought you'd hate me too. Please, don't hate me. I don't know what...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Draco,
Please, give me one chance to explain myself. You've left without hearing my side. Hear me out and I promise...
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Draco,
I'm sorry.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Frustrated, y/n throws her pen onto her desk. There are dozens of crumpled papers around her. In the last two hours, she started the same letter to Draco over and over again but so far, she hasn't found the right words to say. Not that it really matters. Without Draco's owl which regularly visited her for the past two years, she doesn't have a way to contact him. Apparently, wizards don't have a phone. Y/N takes out the trashcan from beneath her desk and swipes all the papers into it in one big swoop. Afterward, she groans and falls onto her bed face down. There's nothing to do in her room but to brood on the whole Draco situation. Supposedly, it is not necessary to mention that she's stuck in her room for two more weeks. After the night her parents had to pick her up at a train station in the middle of the night, of course, her parents asked questions. Questions that y/n couldn't answer without getting entangled in more and more lies. It all blew up in her face when her parents called Olivia's parents. After that, y/n had no other option but to tell them about the boy she's been seeing for a while. A long talk about sex trafficking and teenage pregnancy later, y/n got grounded for three weeks. I suppose I can be lucky I didn't get grounded for the entire summer holidays, she thinks to herself as she turns around to look for her phone only to realize that that's been taken away from her too. Suddenly, she's glad for the communication via owl. At least this way, her parents will find no messages that would incriminate her further. Y/n burries her face in a pillow and lets out a muffled scream.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
One week later
Y/n,
Don't think I am writing this because I have any concern for your muggle self. I don't care if you got home safely or not. Considering I got no news about a dead muggle girl in Salisbury, I suppose you live.
Honestly, I am just writing you this to draw a line under whatever it was that we did the last two years. I suppose even someone like you understands that a wizard like me cannot be associated with a muggle. It's absolutely absurd that I didn't notice it.
Just to make it absolutely clear: Don't tell anybody about me or the wizarding community or I can assure you the ministry will take care of you. Also, we're done.
D.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Puzzled, y/n blinks at the paper in front of her and then blinks at the owl that is sitting on her windowsill. Why on earth would he feel the need to write a letter like that, she questions herself. Obviously, she shouldn't tell anybody about wizards and after Draco's glorious exit at the inn, it should have been clear that they've broken up. Suddenly, she feels a hot pit of anger swelling in her stomach.
How dare he write a message like that, y/n thinks. Not a word from him for two weeks and then he sends me a threat and a break-up notice?, she fumes. She's not sure why he would risk getting caught writing to a muggle girl in the first place. Draw a line my ass, she thinks and rips up the letter into tiny little pieces. She watches the pieces float silently to her floor. Then, she pushes down her window with a loud bang, and glares at the owl for a few seconds, before turning away and continuing a half-finished jigsaw puzzle.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A few days later
Y/n,
Since the cover of the wizarding world hasn't been and there are no reports about a crazy woman talking about magic, I guess you didn't tell anybody about us. Good.
You know it really astonishes me how you managed to keep up the facade for so long. I never knew muggles could be this... adaptable. However, I think it was quite a malicious pretense of you. It makes me wonder if anything that you said or did was true. Not that it would matter to me.
Remember to keep quiet. I really can't have a muggle running around blabbering about wizard secrets.
D.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Y/n feels like she could spit fire. She lets out an angered scream and crumples up the letter. What a dick, y/n screams internally. I get he's angry at me, I get he doesn't want to so me anymore but what on earth is he trying to achieve with these letters?, y/n asks herself. She tries to shoosh Draco's owl away from her window. The owl lifts itself into the air and settles on a branch of the apple tree in y/n's garden. Y/n stares at the owl and the owl stares back. She turns away and throws Draco's letter into the trash bin. The anger made her feel too hot. Pulling her pullover over her head, she stumbles towards her closet and puts on a t-shirt. Meanwhile, she calls Draco all kinds of nasty names in her head. She no longer feels sorry. When she turns around, the owl sits at her windowsill again. Y/n rolls up a magazine and pokes the owl in the hope that it will take flight. The owl looks at her absolutely unbothered. Y/n pushes a bit harder and forces the owl towards the edge of the windowsill. Eventually, the owl gives up and glides to the apple tree again. "Go awaaaaay!!!", y/n yells out of her window and pulls her widow shut with a loud bang.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Another letter arrived a few days after that. It has a similar tone as the last two with an equal amount of insults towards muggle. Y/n is absolutely fuming. Draco's owl doesn't even bother leaving y/n's windowsill and already made itself comfortable. Y/n glares intently at the owl through her closed window. Finally, she pulls out a sheet of paper and a pen.
Draco,
I get it. I'm a stupid muggle and I shouldn't tell anybody about magic. I get it. You can stop sending letters now. You said we're done so I don't understand why you keep contacting me.
Don't get me wrong - I understand you're angry. I deceived you and breaking up with me is probably the right thing to do. I'm sorry I lied to you but I feel like you don't see why I acted this way. It's not like I knew that you were a wizard when we first met and when I got to know you, you started insulting people like me. What was I supposed to do? Have you ever considered that this world you live in intimidates me? Have you ever considered that maybe I was scared of losing what we had? Because I genuinely cared? I guess not.
Anyways, what's done is done. No need to dwell on it. Maybe it would do you good if you let go. It's time to get back to normal, don't you think?
Y/n.
Contently, y/n reads through her letter again. After folding it in two, she opens the window and holds it out towards the owl. The owl takes the letter without hesitation and takes off. Y/n watches the bird disappear into the grey clouds that hang low in the sky. Eventually, she closes the window and feels calmer than she has since the night at Stonehenge.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Y/n doesn't see any owl around her window for a little over the week. She's not grounded anymore for a couple of days. She spent the days in freedom by accompanying her mother to the dentist, to the supermarket, and to her auntie Paula. In short: her parents are still keeping her on a short leash. However, today she's allowed to meet a friend. Even if it's just to apologize. She's meeting Olivia in town. Olivia and her already texted after y/n got her phone back. So Olivia knows the gist and luckily she's not angry. Actually, being the teenage girl she is, Olivia is very excited to hear all about the mysterious guy y/n got herself in trouble for. It's the least thing y/n wants to talk about but it's only fair she owes Olivia some kind of explanation.
Y/n is getting ready in her room. Her mother already called her down several minutes ago. Obviously, she isn't allowed to take the bus by herself. Rummaging through her make-up bag y/n is trying to find a lip balm for her purse when she suddenly hears a soft clank on the window. By now, y/n knows the sound all too well. The sound of a beak on glass. She shoots around and is face to face with Draco's owl. For a moment, y/n contemplates not opening the window and leaving the owl where it is. At some point, it must get hungry and fly off again, right? However, curiosity killed the cat and y/n is pretty sure Draco will be the death of her. So she quickly opens the window, rips the letter out of the owl's beak and stuffs the letter into her bag. Her mother is already calling for her again and without looking back, y/n takes off.
"We pick you up exactly at 4 pm and the café, understand y/n?", her mother lectures her. "I expect you both to be there. I want to apologize to Olivia's parents in person.", she tells y/n. Y/n groans and pulls her hood over her face. "Didn't you already apologize on the phone? Can't we finally leave this behind? Obviously, I learned my lesson.", y/n begs. Her mother gives her a sharp look in the rear-view mirror of their car. "That's not of you to decide. You will have to earn our trust back.", her mother points out. Y/n knows her mother is right, but it still feels unfair. It was a horrible experience inside and out and y/n wants nothing more than to just forget about it. Her mother turns her attention back to the road. Y/n crosses her arms in front of her chest. Suddenly, she remembers the letter again. It's still sitting in her bag unopened. Carefully, she takes it out. She holds it low, close to her lap, so her mother wouldn't see.
Y/n,
Meet me today at Trafalgar Square. 3 pm sharp.
D.
Y/n stares at the message in disbelief. Is he joking? Is this some kind of setup? So that they can grab her and make her disappear or whatever wizards do to normal people who accidentally get to know about magic? Yeah, no, I'm absolutely not going., y/n thinks. Somehow she wishes Draco had a phone so that she could react to this message with a couple of middle finger emojis. She crumples up the paper and stuffs it back into her back.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Olivia's already waiting when her mother drops her off. She even gets out of the car to exchange some words with Olivia and to make sure her parents are really picking her up. Y/n can feel her cheeks heat up with embarrassment. However, Olivia takes it cool. She answers y/n's mother's question politely and acts as if absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened since the last time she's seen her.
This attitude drops really fast once y/n's mom is back in the car and out of sight. Olivia turns around, makes a squeaking sound, and says: "You need to tell me everything!". Apparently, y/n must've had a really dumb look on her face. "C'mon, y/n! My parents told me all about your lie.", Olivia grins. Once they've settled in a quiet niche at the café, Olivia looks at y/n expectantly. Y/n sighs. After all, she knew she had to talk about this. "Look, Olivia, I'm really sorry about all of this. I shouldn't have you involved in my lie. I-i was stupid and I really learned my-", y/n starts but Olivia immediately interrupts her. "Yes, yes! Save that speech for my parents. I get it, you lied. More importantly, you met a boy.", Olivia says and wiggles her eyebrows. "More like a massive jerk.", y/n deadpans. Olivia nods agreeingly. "And yet you lied so that you can spend a weekend with him all alone.", Olivia grins and gives her the look. Y/n sighs. "It's not like you think.", y/n tries to argue. "Riiiight... that's why you hid him from your parents.", Olivia says and crosses her arms. Y/n sighs and stirs her drink. "Well, fine, we've been together since Christmas and wanted to spend some time together in the summer.", she says defeatedly. "First of all, it's not. Second of all, since Christmas? Why am I only hearing now about it?", Olivia asks. Y/n shrugs. "It's not like I've been seeing him a lot since then. He goes to a boarding school and is only around in the summer and for Christmas.", she points out. Olivia thinks about this for a moment. "So, you've been just texting?", Olivia says unconvinced. "If that's your way of asking if we were screwing the answer is no. We've only been... uh, texting.", y/n says. Olivia crunches her eyebrows. "This is less juicy than expected. But did you kiss? And what about the weekend away? That sounds like a perfect opportunity to lose your v-card.", Olivia keeps asking. Y/n blushes. "V-card? Really? That's so lame, Olivia.". Olivia shrugs. "I'm not saying I'm supporting the patriarchal idea of virginity but the first time is special and exciting for everyone, isn't it?", she argues. Y/n shrugs. "I wouldn't know. Again, nothing happened. We only kissed.", she underlines her point. Suddenly, there's a glint in Olivia's eyes. "Ooohhh... you kissed? Was it good?", she asks teasingly. Y/n snips a small ball of paper at Olivia. "I mean, yes, but it doesn't matter. We broke up.", she says solemnly. "Clearly, otherwise your parents wouldn't had to pick you up at the station in the middle of the night.", Olivia points out, "What happened? You two had a fight?". Y/n shrugs. She feels her eyes burning. She thought she was over it. Really, she thought that Draco's stupid letters made her angry enough to forget how deeply the whole thing hurt her. "Yes. He expected me to be something I'm not. Took of when he noticed and left me behind.", y/n says. Olivia looks at her for a moment. "Let me guess. He wanted to screw you and when you didn't want to he dropped you? Man, guys suck.", Olivia takes a guess. Y/n shakes her head. "No, that wasn't it. He was actually super respectful. It was more like... a rich asshole finding out your common trash.", y/n lies. "Oof... he comes from old money? That kind of guy?", Olivia asks. Y/n nods. "Yup, that kind of guy.", she says. "Well good thing you didn't screw him. Those are the worst baby daddies.", Olivia nods as if she had any more experience with these things than y/n had. "Olivia, can you take this serious?", y/n says frustrated.
Olivia holds up her hands in defense. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You're right. ... So you didn't hear anything from him ever since?", she asks. Y/n puffs and puts her hair up in a messy loop. All this talk got her warm. "Oh, I heard from him, believe me.", she says angrily. "That doesn't sound good. What did he say?", Olivia asks. "Oh, he told me what a terrible person I am alongside some threats not to tell anybody.", she tells her. Olivia slurps a bit of her drink watching her intensely. "Ah, afraid about his reputation? So, he's an arrogant prick.", Olivia points out. Y/n nods. "Yeah, and look at what he sent me today.", y/n says and pulls out Draco's note. Olivia raises a brow and takes the piece of paper. "Old fashioned, I see.", Olivia mumbles and quickly reads through the note. "I really don't get it. He tells me he doesn't want to see me anymore and then he keeps sending me messages and now he wants to meet? Why on earth would I want to see him after everything? After he said these terrible things to me?", y/n rambles. Olivia gives her a side-eye and slides the paper back to her. "Well, isn't it obvious?", Olivia says matter-of-factly. "No.", y/n states bluntly. Olivia shrugs. "He's hooked. He doesn't want to mingle with a poor commoner, he's afraid about his reputation but he also can't let go.", Olivia explains. Y/n laughs into her face. "Sure, that's why he keeps lashing out at me.", she argues. Olivia shrugs. "Maybe he's not a good communicator and that's the only way he knows how to keep in touch with you. Or he's too proud to admit he likes you even though you don't have the same social status as him.", Olivia thinks out loud. Actually, she might be right, a voice in y/n's head says. Y/n shakes her head. "So?", Olivia asks. "So what?", y/n asks back. "Are you going to meet him?" Y/n looks at Olivia as if she's grown three heads. "Are you insane? Absolutely not!", she exclaims. Olivia shrugs. "You liked him enough to pull off this big-ass lie to get a weekend with him. And now you don't want to give him another chance?", Olivia questions her. Y/n kneads her hands. "I- it's... Look, he left me at a creepy in, in the middle of the night, in a town I don't know. Then he keeps pointing out what a low-life I am compared to him via text. Why would I want to see him again?", she exclaims. Olivia looks at her softly. "Because you have feelings for him? Clearly enough for his words to still hurt you. You guys could either reconcile or you can give him a piece of your mind.", Olivia argues. Y/n turns her head away like a frustrated toddler. "My mother would ground me forever.", she says. Olivia sighs. "Stop finding excuses to not face him. I'll stay here in case your mom shows up early. It's still early, you can catch the next bus.", Olivia says determinedly. Y/n looks at her blankly trying to come up with another reason to not go, but she draws a blank. "Don't look at me so stupidly, go!", Olivia ushers her.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Y/n wraps her jacket around her. Even though it's summer and it's warm, she still feels cold. And nervous. And very uncomfortable. Olivia dragged her to the bus stop, shoved her into the bus, and before y/n could fathom what was happening, she was already standing on Trafalgar Square. She tries not to look around and search for him. She doesn't want to look desperate or give him the satisfaction of knowing she missed him, which she, of course, did not.
"Y/n", a familiar voice said behind her. Y/n turns around to Draco standing behind her. Suddenly all oxygen is knocked out of her lungs. She's not sure whether it's because she doesn't know what to say to him or because he is as good-looking as she remembers him. She wished her initial reaction to him would be repulsion, which would be an appropriate reaction she thinks. However, her heart takes a leap and she feels warm in places she shouldn't feel warm at all. Draco doesn't take his hands out of his pockets and y/n doesn't move her arms away from her chest. "You wanted to meet?", is all she can croak out. He nods without looking into her eyes. When he doesn't say anything. "Well, what do you have to say? Make it quick, I'm already in trouble.", she asks. Suddenly, but slowly, y/n can feel her anger returning in her chest. Draco's eyes snap to hers. "Don't you have anything to say?", he asks back. Y/n shrugs. "If you're looking for an apology, I've already given you one in writing.", she bites back. Draco frowns. "Really, that's all you've got to say to me?", he says bitterly. Y/n stares back at him irritated. "Well, what do you want me to say?", she asks.
Suddenly, Draco looks really helpless. "Well... I... you... I thought...", he tries looking for words. Y/n waits patiently. Let him struggle, she thinks. Draco stomps his foot on the ground angrily. "You lied to me!", he blurts out. Y/n huffs. "Firstly, I gave you an apology for that. Secondly, I never claimed to be a witch. You assumed it, which I didn't get at first, and then I just went with it.", she exclaims. Draco looks at her angrily. "Well, why would you go with it? I don't get it.", Draco argues. "Because I was thirteen years old, you just abducted me in a magical alleyway and then you go off about how awful people like me were. I was scared!", y/n blurts out a bit too loudly and Draco shushes her. "You telling me you were scared of me?", Draco hisses back quietly. Y/n lifts her hands above her hands frustratedly. "Yes! Of course! You grew up with magic, it's natural and everyday life for you! It's not for me. It scared me shitless because I suddenly didn't know what's real and possible anymore. Also, you literally told me your kind could wipe us out!", y/n whisper yells back at him. This stuns Draco for a moment. "I didn't say that.", he tells her. "Don't gaslight me, Draco. Yes, you gave me shit about muggleborns and muggles and then you told me wizards could literally wipe muggles off the face of earth.", y/n argues. Draco is quiet for a moment then points out: "If you are so scared of me, why did you continue to see me?". Y/n shrugs. "You're an arrogant prick, Draco, but you're also my first friend since I moved overseas.", she tells him. Draco is too stunned to speak. Y/n pushes her hands through her hair. "Look, I should've told you. Yes, at first I was scared and then... I don't know. You were my friend, Draco, I didn't want to lose that.", she sighs. Draco turns his head away. "That's what I am to you? A friend?", he mumbles. Y/n stares at him in disbelief. He's hooked, that's what Olivia said. Maybe she's right, y/n thinks. "For a while.", she tells him, "Obviously not since Christmas. Which didn't exactly make it easier to tell you.". Draco turns back to without meeting her eyes. "It would've been better to tell me than let me find out his way.", he says. Y/n looks at him softly. "Of course. It's definitely not how I wanted it to come out. But in all honesty... would the outcome be any different if I had told you? You always let me know how little you think of muggles. You still would've broken up with me.", she points out to him. Draco stays quiet and shrugs. "I don't know. Probably. It's not like we could be together like this.", he says. Y/n nods. "Yeah, guess it's against the law for people like us to be together. Your wizard police probably would have to erase my memories or something.", she says. Draco shrugs again. "It's... it's not against the law, actually. There are plenty of mixed couples.", he relents, "But my parents would never accept you". Y/n gives him a confused look. "Your parents?", she asks him. "No offense, Draco, but I don't give a fuck about your parents. I was concerned about you accepting it. You didn't strike me with the open-minded, tolerant mindset, you know.", she tells him. Draco looks away again. He seemed to be ashamed. "Look, I know I said some horrible things, but...", he starts. "But what?", y/n interrupts him, "You made it pretty clear what you think about people like me. Don't try to tell me you've changed suddenly. Because I don't buy it." Draco looks down in defeat. Y/n feels like it's the first time he's been called out on his racist attitude. She pulls her jacket closer around her body. Good, she thinks. "You're right.", he tells her, "And I'm sorry for the things I said. Actually, I've been thinking a lot about it". "About what?", she asks. "Muggles... and you, I guess.", he says. "Elaborate.", y/n simply demands. Draco shrugs and huffs. "Well, you see... I never had any contact with muggles. All I knew about your world, is what my parents told me.", he tries to explain.
Y/n starts shaking her head. "Nu-uh. Don't blame this on your parents. That's an excuse when you're six years old. At some point, you're old enough to question the things your parents say. You're old enough to understand the world and how human beings treat each other", y/n calls him out. Draco nods in defeat. "Yes, and I never did. I never questioned it. But I've been questioning it since I found out you're a muggle.", he tells her. Y/n rolls her eyes. "Oh, so it's been an eye-opening event, yes? Sorry, but years of internalized racism don't go away because you have one friend who is different.", she says bitterly. Draco nods again. "Probably not.", he admits, "but it did change my mind a little bit. I always had this idea how muggles are. You know, dumb, different." "Thank you.", y/n says dryly. Draco takes his hands out of his pocket and waves them in front of him in defense. "No, that's not... ugh. I mean, I realized that you're not that different from us. I mean I didn't notice you weren't a witch for years. I guess I'm the dumb one.", he explains. Y/n shrugs. "Sounds about right.", she tells him. "Doesn't mean you were right to not tell me.", he points out. Y/n shrugs again. "It wasn't. I was a coward and selfish.", she answers. "Sounds about right.", Draco repeats her sarcastically.
They stare at each other for a while in silence. "So, what now?", y/n asks. Draco shrugs. "Good talk, have a good live?", y/n suggests. Draco looks at her wide-eyed. "You want that?", he asks her. Y/n shrugs. "Do we have a different choice? Your parents will kill you when they find out about your muggle girlfriend. And my parents sure as hell will kill me if they find out I'm meeting the guy who stayed with me in an inn all alone for two days.", she declares. "You got in trouble with your parents?", Draco asks carefully. Y/n nods. "Yeah, what did you think? You left me at a magical inn in the middle of the night. Did you think I stayed and went home the next day like nothing happened? I went home in the middle of the night and my lie blew up in my face.", she tells him. Draco looks down ashamed. "I shouldn't have left you there.", he says. Y/n shrugs. "Whatever. Anyways, since our parents will not approve of this, probably better to call it off, eh?", she answers. Draco looks at her. Does he actually look sad?, y/n asks herself. "I mean... what if they don't know?", he asks quietly. Y/n laughs dryly at that. "Yeah, that worked out great the first time.", she says. Draco looks like she hit him in the face. "Because I was ignorant and you kept your secret. But we can do it differently this time.", he pleads with her and y/n thinks that it's a little bit pathetic. Also, she's really glad he is because right now her pride is in her own way. "You call me out when I'm a prick and you don't keep secrets.", he proposes. Y/n shrugs. "How about we both don't keep secrets?", she says carefully. Draco seems to cheer up immediately. "Deal.", he prompts. Y/n gives him a small smile.
Suddenly it's awkward between them. "Sooooo...?", y/n says and makes an awkward hand gesture. "So, we stay together?", Draco ends her sentence. "Yes?", y/n answers. "That doesn't sound convincing.", Draco deadpans. Y/n takes a deep breath. "Yes.", she tells him. Draco gives her a soft smile. "Now what?", y/n asks awkwardly. Draco shrugs. "We hug?", he proposes. Y/N smiley back. "Okay.", she replies. Awkwardly, they step forward and put their arms around each other. For a moment, y/n feels really uncomfortable. Then, Draco's smell hits her and he pulls her closer so that her face rests against his shoulder. Y/n's body instantly relaxes and she hugs him back closer. After a while, they loosen the hug a bit and are face-to-face with each other. "Do we...?", Draco asks carefully and y/n gives him a soft smile. "Yes.", she whispers and pulls his face towards hers. Their lips meet in a soft kiss and Draco leans in. Y/n would've enjoyed the kiss if her phone hadn't started vibrating in her pocket. Draco jumps back immediately. "What's that?", he stutters. "Just my phone.", she tells him and pulls it out of her pocket. It's Olivia.
"Hate to interrupt the moment, but it's half past three. We need to take the next bus back to the café.", Olivia's voice echoes on the other side of the phone. Y/n swirls around and looks around frantically. "On your right.", Olivia tells her and y/n catches her leaning on a streetlamp on the other side of the road. "How did you-?" "Get here?", Olivia finishes her sentence. "Didn't trust that guy and wanted to look after you. Seems like you didn' need me, bravo!", she tells y/n. "But seriously, we need to go." Y/n nods. "Alright, I'm coming.", she replies and hangs up. "I need to go.", she tells Draco. Draco's eyes are fixated on Olivia who gives him a short wave. "Does she know?", he asks her sharply. "About you and me? Yes. About you being a wizard? No. I keep my promises.", y/n tells him. Draco relaxes a bit and turns his gaze back to her. "You have to go?", he asks. "Yes, my mother picks me up soon. I'm already on thin ice with her. I'd rather not know what she'll do if she finds out about this.", she replies. Draco nods in agreement. "When will we see each other again?", he asks her hopefully. Y/n thinks about it for a moment. "Last week of the summer holidays? I might need some more time to convince my parents I won't do anything stupid.", y/n proposes. "Alright. Be careful. I'll send you an owl.", Draco says. Y/n nods and gives him a smile. They quickly hug each other and when y/n pulls away, Draco grabs her face and gives her a long, passionate kiss that leaves y/n breathless. She almost stumbles when he lets go of her. "See you soon, y/n.", Draco says softly.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
In the next few weeks, y/n and Draco frequently exchanged letters. What happened in Salisbury is not spoken of anymore. However, Draco's tone and choice of words slightly changed. No snarky remarks about the muggle world anymore. Instead, he includes lengthy explanations about anything magical. Y/n thinks he is trying a little bit too hard, but is grateful nonetheless. Finally, she gets some context for some things he says. Meanwhile, y/n is a bit more open about her own life. About the movies she watches or the things she does with her friends. In a way, things are better now. Y/n doesn't carry around the weight of constant hiding and doesn't have to be careful about her words. Moreover, in Olivia, y/n finally found a friend who she can giggle about boys with and who can keep a secret.
Y/n and Draco met a few times at the end of August. Y/n showed her some muggle activities and Draco took her to Diagon Alley again and made her try all kinds of magical things. Of course, it's a risk to take y/n to magical places but Draco decided that y/n managed to blindside him for 5 years, others probably won't notice for like 5 Minutes. It's been a bliss, really. Finally, this feels like a real relationship to y/n. They're just some teenagers holding hands and making out and sneaking around their parents. Y/n wished these moments last forever but sooner or later September arrives and Draco has to go back to Hogwarts.
Y/n is standing at King's Cross. Draco and her are hiding behind a pillar at platform 8. He already crossed over to platform 9 3/4 20 minutes ago after saying goodbye to his parents. He came back to say goodbye to y/n a couple of minutes later. "It's only until Christmas.", Draco says as y/n clings to his chest. She buries her face into him. "I know, but somehow this feels worse than last year.", she mumbles. Draco rubs her back and grins. "Geez, I wonder why.", he says. Y/n pinches his arm. Draco lets go of her and rubs her arms. "I'll write you every week, I promise.", he tells her. "You should really get a phone. We could talk every day.", y/n argues. She's been trying to convince him for the past weeks. Communication would be so much easier. Also, her mum gets suspicious about the amount of bird shit that's on her windowsill. Fair enough, she doesn't seem to get that a literal owl is visiting her daughter. Instead, she gives y/n shit about feeding pigeons.
"Seriously, it won't be that bad. School starts soon and then we both have so much school work up our asses, we won't even notice until Christmas comes around.", Draco tries to soothe her. Y/n sighs. "I guess. I'll still miss you.", she tells him defeated. Draco smiles at her softly. "Yeah, I'll miss you too.", he replies. He leans down and gives her a kiss on the lips. Y/n's eyes flicker to the big clock behind Draco. "You have to go.", she points out and Draco nods. Y/n's lips form a thin line. She really hates this. Draco softly strokes over her cheek. "Yeah. See you soon, love. Don't miss me too much.", he says as he turns around to catch his train. Suddenly, y/n's face lits up. "Hey, Draco!", she yells after him. He turns around. "We've survived summer! In contrast to Blaise and that girl!", she yells. Draco laughs and shakes his head. "Well, at least I have something to brag about.", he laughs as he makes his way to platform 9 3/4.

Bring Me Home Arc 2 Part 13
Happy Wednesday! This arc is over 20k already. How many of you didn't realize that? I've got a longer segment for you this week. There wasn't really a good place to end it and this brings us to the end of the scene. If you like banter, this segment is for you.
Story Summary: Tim and Danny are both neglected by parents who care more about their work than their families. They deal with this by spending too much time online and find each other playing MMORPGs. They keep up their friendship as Tim becomes Robin and Danny becomes Phantom and don't bother keeping secrets from each other.

Word Count: 2.2k

Jeremy couldn’t help but add, “Be sure to mention us to your dad, Timothy. It’s been ages since we’ve last been able to meet at a gala!”
“Yes, sir,” said Tim. Not that he’d be following through. Assholes. Danny pushed him up a wide staircase that framed the entranceway to get to the second floor.
“Exactly like my parents,” he told Sam.
“I swear, if I didn’t have Gradma Ida, I’d go insane. My room’s this way.”
Sam’s room was so large that not only did she have a double bed and vanity, but also a couch and enough cushions that they were all able to spread out comfortably. Tim and Danny took beanbag chairs next to each other. His friends took the couch while Tucker took a space on the floor and promptly pulled out a laptop and two PDAs. Sam settled in a rocking chair.
Tim laid out the goodies they’d gotten from the corner store. “We brought snacks.”
Sam grabbed a bag of chips. “Thanks. So what’s on the agenda for the night?”
Cassie asked, “Is there anything we can do about the ghosts?”
Danny buried his face in his hands. “I don’t know. I can’t get a close enough read on them to see where any are. And there’s so many that even if I knock one out of a human, another would just take it’s place.”
“Any idea what they might be after?” asked Tim. “The ones last night were wearing uniforms like police officers. And we saw the news report from your school earlier. That one looked like a werewolf.”
“He was wearing a collar,” added Bart. “And his outfit also appeared to be a uniform of some sort, though not a police one.”
All of them stared at Bart.
“You don’t think he was there willingly,” said Sam.
Bart shrugged. “Didn’t look that way to me.”
Danny groaned and leaned over until he was resting his head on Tim’s shoulder. “What am I supposed to do with that? What do I do if he’s not here to attack the town?”
Tim wrapped his arm around Danny to hold him steady. “How much sleep were you able to get between last night and now?”
“Unno,” mumbled Danny. “Three, four hours?”
Cassie clicked her tongue at him. “How about you get some rest tonight and we can figure it out tomorrow. We’ll take the night in shifts and if there’s a large-scale attack again, we’ll wake you up.”
Tim sighed. “Much as I hate to admit it, Cassie’s right. You need to sleep.”
Danny snorted into his neck and Tim couldn’t help the way his cheeks heated at the feel of his breath. “Like you’re one to talk.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tim rolled his eyes. “We all know I’m not a good role model. Do as Alfred says, not as I do.”
“Wayne family moto!” Conner teased. Tim gave him the finger.
“Just one thing to do first,” said Bart.
“Yeah,” added Tucker. “I need to fix up Conner’s phone.”
“Two things, then,” amended Bart.
“What’s the other thing?” asked Sam. “I feel like I’m out of the loop.”
Cassie leaned back and looked up at the ceiling. “The Fentons gave us a tour of the lab. We want to arrange a system to get Danny out of Amity if things go bad.”
Tim noted how both Tucker and Sam tensed and exchanged a look. Then Sam nodded. “We’re in. And since you are who you are, which, Danny, we will be talking about how you kept Justice League connections from us later, we’ll trust you to be able to do it.”
“Don’t be mad at him,” protested Tim. “I made him promise to keep my secrets. It wasn’t safe for him to discuss it.”
Tucker waved a hand in the air. “We understand. Doesn’t mean we’re not frustrated with him. Don’t worry about it, though. Your secret’s safe with us.”
Tim bit his lip. “Please. It’s vitally important for my family’s safety that nothing gets out.”
Conner snorted. “Plus Batman would murder you dead if he found out you let anything slip.”
Tim groaned. “Don’t remind me. I’ll have so much paperwork. And would probably be benched for forever.”
Bart laughed and flicked a chip at him. “We’d kidnap you and help you prepare a new hero identity!”
With Danny still leaning on him, Tim couldn’t even catch the projectile and it hit him on the forehead. “I’ll take you up on that if I ever do get benched permanently.”
Sam cleared her throat. “As amusing as this all is, what’s the plan with Danny?”
Danny groaned, but didn’t move. “I don’t need one, guys. It’s not as bad as you think.”
Bart snorted. “Dude, your parents showed us an iron maiden.”
Danny shook his head. “Dad’s the only one who’s been shut up in that. And that was for threatening me and Jazz with it.”
“Um… what?” asked Cassie. “Why does everything you say make me feel more concerned?”
Tucker spoke around a mouthful of jerky. “Because his parents are mad scientists.”
Sam nodded. “No one lives in the houses on either side of his. And the value of every building on the street has plummeted due to proximity.”
Cassie shook her head. “How the hell have they been allowed to do all that? And why haven’t their driver’s licenses been revoked? We saw how they drove that tank of theirs.”
Tucker snorted. “No cop or city official is brave enough to go up to Jack ‘I can run through brick walls’ Fenton and tell him he’s not allowed to do something.”
Sam laughed. “And even if they were, Maddie Fenton has a blackbelt and will hold a grudge.”
“Last night it also seemed like she knows her way around that arsenal she’s got,” said Tim.
“Yeah,” said Danny. “Mom’s the one you’ve got to watch out for when my parents go on the hunt.”
“Okay.” Tim was already thinking up ways to neutralize them. “Us four should be able to handle them. What about Jazz? Is she someone we’d have to worry about?”
Danny pushed himself up and made sure Tim could see him rolling his eyes. “Jazz would never do anything to hurt me.” It was clear Danny believed his statement completely. And, honestly? After all the stories Danny’d told him and meeting Jazz in person, Tim was inclined to believe him. Though Danny wasn’t done. “And my parents would stop if they had any idea I was Phantom.”
Neither Tim nor Danny was as certain about that statement. Glancing around, everyone else seemed to have the same doubts.
“Well,” said Tim. “You know me. And I’ve told you about B. ‘Backup plans’ is my middle name. I’ll feel more comfortable if we have one.”
“Fine.” Danny flopped over until he was laying across Tim’s lap. “But don’t expect me to help.”
Now it was Tim’s turn to roll his eyes, but his fingers were gentle as they brushed through Danny’s hair. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. So, it’s Maddie we’ll have to outsmart. I doubt Jack’s strength is any match for Conner or Cassie.”
“I can get you access to the Fenton house,” said Tucker gesturing to his laptop. “Even if they activate the home defense system.”
Tim nodded. “Thanks. I’ll also get you communicators so you can reach me in case of an emergency.”
“Perfect,” said Sam. “We’ve each other’s cell numbers, too.”
“Yep,” said Tim. “But phones should only be used for civilian identities. If you need the help of heroes, please use the communicators. It’s best to keep things as separate as possible.”
Conner nudged Tim’s foot with his own. “Yep. Tim here won’t let us refer to him by name when he’s in costume. Even if we’re all alone in our own base behind two dozen layers of security.”
“Need I remind you who trained me?”
Cassie laughed. “He’s even worse. You should hear my aunt go on about him.”
Tucker was watching them with interest. “Who’s your aunt?”
Bart disappeared from his spot only to reappear next to Tucker to whisper in his ear.
Tucker’s eyes widened and he stared at Cassie in wonder. “That is so cool! Could you get me an autograph?”
Cassie laughed. “Why so surprised? You know who I am. Did you think I wouldn’t know her?”
Tucker blushed. “Yeah, well. Excuse me for being distracted by the ghost invasion we’re dealing with.”
Tim cleared his throat. “I think we’re getting off topic. Now, we have a way into the Fenton house. Tucker, could you get us all the way into the lab?”
“Easily. I’m fully in all their systems and they’ve no idea.”
“How will we know he’s in trouble?” asked Bart.
Tim bit his lip. “Danny and I already have a system in place where if we don’t hear from each other within seven days without prior warning, we reach out to someone. For me, it’s B’s butler. For him, it’s you Tucker.” He nudged Danny only to realize he had passed out his lap. Tim couldn’t help the fond smile he gave and shook his head. “Tomorrow I’ll propose decreasing that to three or four days.”
Conner nodded. “If none of us hear from one of you for more than four days, we’ll come. Probably me, Bart, or Cassie since we can travel faster.”
Tim grimaced, but nodded. Sometimes it really sucked being the only baseline human in the group.
Bart gave a thumbs up. “I can usually be somewhere in minutes if I’m not tied up doing something else!”
Sam looked them over critically. “You know he’s gonna insist that goes both ways. If you guys don’t check in, he’ll go to you if he can.”
Tucker began typing away on his laptop. “I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner. I’m setting up alerts on the Fenton lab. If they start recording any experiments on an actual ghost, I’ll get a notification. If there’s any indication it’s Phantom, I can have the alert forwarded to you.”
Tim nodded. “Good. Do that.” He looked at his team. “We’ve seen the Fenton’s weapons and some of their fighting skills by now. I don’t think we’ll have any issues subduing them if necessary.”
“Nah,” agreed Cassie. “We can handle them.”
Back to Sam and Tucker, Tim asked, “Do we know what their weapons can do to humans? What risks they pose?”
Sam grimaced. “The small blasters are fine. But some of the bigger weapons? Like the bazooka or the missiles? Those have caused damage to the roads and buildings beyond what the ghosts do.”
“Have there been any casualties?” asked Cassie.
Tucker shook his head. “No. Thank God. It’s all been property damage so far.”
Sam nudged him. “Not quite. You’re forgetting Wes’s brother. Jack broke his arm two weeks ago when he shot at the Box Ghost and knocked over the pile of bricks that was being used to rebuild Mr. Nguyen’s store.”
“Ugh, right. I think I was trying to block that debacle from my mind.”
Tim sighed and shook his head. “I knew it was bad, but Danny really downplayed it.”
Sam shrugged. “Yeah, well, this is life in Amity right now.”
“I suppose so.” Tim looked down at Danny who was frowning even in his sleep. “I think I’m gonna get him in a bed. Where will we be sleeping?”
“Probably a good idea,” agreed Sam. “Do you want to share a room?”
“Yeah, if you don’t mind. We haven’t had any one-on-one time yet. Which is a shame for our first in-person meeting!” Tim laughed and ignored the looks his friends were shooting him as well as the grins Sam and Tucker were exchanging. “Though with our lives, I should’ve expected something like this rather than a purely civilian meeting.”
Sam laughed. “Yeah, probably. This is about par for the course for us. Take the room across the hall. If you need the bathroom, if you exit my room, turn left and it’s two doors down on this side of the hall.”
Tim shifted so he could lift Danny up. Despite the shuffling, Danny didn’t open his eyes, though he did grumble indistinct protests.
“Just getting you in a bed,” said Tim.
Conner grabbed the bag that had their belongings in it and opened the doors for Tim. While Tim settled Danny in the bed, even having to remove shoes and socks, Conner separated their things so he would have everything he needed.
“Thanks, Kon.”
“Anytime, Tim. Get some rest yourself, okay?”
Tim huffed a laugh. “Sleep is for the weak.”
Conner shook his head. “You say that and yet at the end of basically every mission, you pass out for twelve hours and are useless for two days.”
Tim stuck out his tongue. “I do have homework to do. And I want to keep my eye on the local news channels. And I need to check in with Bruce again before he flips. Let me know when your phone is working?”
“Will do. See you tomorrow.”
“Night.”

Next
So! They now have a working system for how to find out if Danny's in trouble and to get him out. Hopefully they won't have to use it! (I mean, we all know where this is going. I presume you've all read the original prompt and fill that started this mess.)
Also, thanks to a comment on the last post, I wanted to clarify the relationships in this fic. If you've gotten Core Four (Tim/Kon/Cassie/Bart) vibes from this... Yeah. You did. If you've gotten Everlasting Trio (Danny/Sam/Tucker) vibes from this... Yeah. You did. I'm going to write those groups as a sorta QPR. Eventually, we will have romantic Danny/Tim (hence I've been tagging this Dead Tired) on top of those QPRs, but that won't really happen for a while. First Danny will date Val and Tim will date Steph. Danny will have another relationship, too, that I'm keeping secret for now. None of those are likely to get any page time as I am planning a time skip after this arc. But they will be referenced by characters. The actual Danny/Tim won't happen until after the rescue scene from the original fill. (Which I'm sure you can imagine will be changed quite drastically now that all these characters know each other.)
I no longer do tag lists, but if you head to the Subscription Post, you can set up notifications for when this updates!

The Marriage Pact Part 3
For Better of For Worse (Slight NSFW)
Tumblr media
Read Part 1 and Part 2 first
Synopsis: Urban urges for Jack to tell you a secret that he's been holding onto, but of course someone else tells you before he does and all hell breaks loose
Pairing: Fiancé!Jack Harlow x Fianceé!Reader
Series Masterlist
Please Do Not Repost My Content Anywhere
Jack had now been on tour for two months and it was around 12 am when all of you were on the plane heading to Prague. Jack and Urban were the only ones awake as you were currently laying on Jack's chest on the couch that was perched in the back of the plane. He was currently scrolling through his phone looking for a necklace that he wanted to buy you since he noticed that you had been eyeing similar ones when Urban came and sat across from him and simply looked at him before saying anything.
"Did you tell her yet?" Urban asked and Jack looked over at him with wide eyes and gestured to you sleeping on his chest.
"Cut the shit. She's sleeping so I know she can't hear us." Urban said in response as he rolled his eyes.
"To answer your question, no I haven't told her."
"Are you? Are you fucking serious? The two of you have been engaged for almost five months! Don't you think that's important to let your future wife know!?"
"Of course I think it's important! I just… didn't think she would actually say yes when I proposed to her."
"You still should have had a plan in place! Like come on, did you really think she was going to tell you no? It's Y/N we're talking about."
"I know, I know! I'll tell her soon."
"You need to tell her like today when we land. She's probably going to be so pissed at you. No not probably, she definitely will."
"I just…. We're in a good place right now and I don't want to do anything to mess that up."
"You not being honest with her is messing it up. Now what if she suddenly decides to go public with it? Then what? And once again did you forget about your future wife being your manager? She could make this go away with the snap of her finger since it's not true. You haven’t seen her since last year, right?"
Jack didn't say anything in response and Urban simply hung his head.
"Sooo since you're quiet there's a possibility that it could be true!? What the actual fuck?"
"I saw her a week before I proposed."
"You… you cannot be serious? And you fucked her knowing that you were going to propose!? What the hell is wrong with you!?"
"And I haven't met up with her since. I completely cut her off."
"Yeah until she sent you that sonogram pic."
"It's not mine."
"And how do you know exactly? You fucked her didn't you?"
"But I used protection. I'm not stupid."
"I beg to differ. Y/N is going to kick your ass about this. That's why I was so concerned when you told me that you two made a marriage pact.. Ain't no way in hell she would have said yes if she knew this beforehand. All your one night stands are about to come out as soon as you announce that you’re engaged. It’s literally only a matter of time."
"Just don't tell her."
"It's not my place to tell her but you better prepare yourself before you do. We've all seen Y/N pissed and it's never been directed at you and now it will be."
All Jack did was look down at you sleeping on his chest and simply sighed.
How was he supposed to tell his soon to be wife that there was a chance he could have a kid on the way? Deep down, he knew it wasn’t his, but he also knew for a fact that you weren’t going to be satisfied until there was a negative DNA test put in front of you.
And since he was now on tour, who knows how long it would be until he was able to get one.
Her name was Gabrielle and Jack was floored when he first laid eyes on her. She wasn't anything compared to you, but for a one night stand she would have to do. He met her at one of his shows in Atlanta and they eventually went out on a date that was actually set up by you so Jack would be able to avoid paparazzi or anyone seeing him.
You met her and thought that she was a nice girl, and didn't think anything else of it. Jack had hooked up with her numerous times with the last time being a week before he proposed to you and the next day he told her that they couldn't see each other anymore. He thought that she took the news well because she didn't seem fazed by it. It wasn't until last week when he was with Urban and got a text from her saying that she was pregnant and that it could be his. His heart immediately jumped in his throat knowing that there was a good possibility that you would leave him once he told you, but at the same time it happened when the two of you weren't even together.
So he thought to himself that you couldn’t be but so mad at him.
On the other hand, since he knew you so well he knew that as soon as he told you that shit would hit the fan and this was about to be hard for him to wiggle out of.
His main thing was breaking your trust. He had told you once he had proposed to you that getting hurt in relationships would be a thing of the past, but the two of you didn’t even make it down the aisle yet and this was happening.
He knew that he had to tell you and soon before you found out from someone else that wasn't him.
That was literally the last thing he wanted.
"Before the day is over, you need to tell her."
“I don’t know if it’s that simple.”
“It won’t be because she’ll probably want to murder you. And I am all for letting her at you because what you did was fucking stupid. You know I always have your back, but right now you’re on your own. Oh, and you better hope that she doesn’t tell Ari.”
Jack had been on edge since all of you touched down in Prague and you couldn’t put your finger on as to why. He typically didn't keep anything from you and your plan was to get it out of him one way or another because you always did. Between you and Urban, he couldn’t keep anything from the two of you for very long.
The two of you were currently in your hotel room resting before he had his show tonight when you cornered him as he was sitting near the window staring off into space. You could tell that he was upset no matter how hard he was trying to hide it.
"Babe."
"Yes?"
"What's wrong?" You asked as you came over to him and started to play in his curls.
"I'm fine. Just a little tired, that's all." He replied while shrugging but you weren’t buying it.
All you did was cross your arms and look down at him.
"How long have I known you?"
"My entire life."
"So don't you think I know when you're lying to me?"
"I promise that I'm fine and that you have no need to worry."
“Easier said than done. But I’ll let it slide for now. I’ll get it out of you sooner or later because I always do.” You answered while kissing his cheek and he smiled at you.
"I love you more than anything and don't ever forget that." Jack quietly said and it left you wondering what he was getting at.
"I love you too and why would I ever forget it?"
"No reason, but just in case. No matter what happens your happiness is always going to be my priority."
"And the exact same goes for you. Did you want to sleep for a bit before your show and then we can get food after?" You asked and Jack quickly nodded his head.
"Will you lay down with me though?"
"Of course I will."
You got comfortable on the bed with Jack following suit and laying on your chest as you played in his hair in order to get him to fall asleep faster.
About fifteen minutes had passed when you noticed that Jack’s breathing had slowed down so you took the opportunity to set an alarm on your phone and drift off too so that you would have energy for later.
Jack's second show out of three was currently underway in Prague as you were watching from the side of the stage. You had always admired his confidence and was in awe every single time that he performed.
There was only about fifteen minutes left in his set when you heard him say something that caught you off guard.
"Hold on. I'm almost done, but I want to brag a little bit and for good reason. So, I finally got my shit together and did something that I wanted to do for years. Yall know my best friend Y/N who is also my manager? I mean Urb is my best friend too but this isn't about him and needs to wait his turn." Jack said while laughing and the crowd erupted in screams as you looked to Urban to see what was going on, but all he did was shrug his shoulders.
"She's been in my life literally since I was eight days old and has always been there for me and as we grew older, my love for her did also. So, what did I do? Buy her an engagement ring and held onto it for an entire damn year because I was scared that she was going to say no. But, I finally grew some balls five months ago on her birthday and asked her."
"Oh shit. I had no idea he was going to do this." Urban thought out loud and for good reason, because he knew something that you didn't.
"I didn't either, but is it really a bad thing?" You asked Urban as you turned towards him and all he gave you was a tight lipped smile. But however,  you didn't think anything of it
"Oh, I'm keeping you in suspense aren't I? Well she also decided that she wanted to wake up next to me for the rest of her life so come next year, I'm about to be a married man. I'm not asking her to come out here because she hates being the center of attention, but Y/N…" Jack said as he turned to look at you on the side of the stage as you stood next to Urban.
"I love you and thank you for saying yes for marrying me. You've made me the happiest man on earth."
You quickly mouthed the words 'I love you too.' Before you heard someone scream in the crowd.
"And it's about fucking time!"
"I know, I know and I agree!" Jack responded and laughed.
"But for now let me finish so I can go and love up on my future wife. I'm never going to get tired of saying that."
By the time all of you got back to the hotel it was around one in the morning and Jack could tell that you were fighting to keep your eyes open seeing as you had to be up in about six hours. One thing that happened while Jack was touring was you not being able to get a lot of sleep. You embraced it however seeing as not many people got an opportunity like this and the last thing you wanted to do was take it for granted.
Once the both of you were in your shared hotel room, you slipped off your shoes along with your jewelry, except for your engagement ring and simply sat on the edge of the bed and stared at it for a few minutes before starting to play with it and twist it around your finger. Jack took notice of this and also how quiet you were being and was concerned that something was wrong.
“Umm, babe? You okay over there? Why are you just staring off into space like that?”
“I’m okay.”
“Wait, you’re not pissed at me right? Because of what I did earlier? I should have asked you before I did it but I figured that it’s almost been five months and….”
“Jack, calm yourself. I’m not mad. I swear that you always stress yourself out over the tiniest things.” You said while laughing as you took note of how much he had started freaking out.
“Well I had to make sure, but you’re obviously thinking about something so what is it?”
You took a deep breath before answering him and you felt like it was the right time since you had been thinking long and hard about it since the night of your birthday when he proposed.
“I’m ready.”
“Ready for what?” Jack answered you while looking at you with a confused look on his face.
All you did was stare at him until it finally clicked.
“Oh…OH! Oh… are you… are you absolutely sure? Because the last thing I want to happen is for you to regret it.”
“Why would I regret it if it was with you?”
“I just want for you to be…”
You immediately cut him off and grabbed his hand as he sat down next to you.
“I am and I wouldn’t say anything to you until I was. That’s what you told me to do right?”
“Yes, but…”
“But what?”
“I don’t have any condoms with me because I thought that you were actually going to wait until we were married.”
“I’m on birth control so that isn’t a problem.”
“And you’re sure that you’re ready?”
All you did was nod in response and you loved how thoughtful and caring that he was.
“Shit, I told you that I was going to make this extra special, but now…”
“It’s going to be special because it’s you. End of.”
All Jack did was smile at you before leaning over to kiss you as you felt your heart begin to flutter. Once he had broken apart from you, he motioned for you to move towards the top of the bed. When you were he simply went to hover over you as he leaned down to kiss you once more.
“And at any time you want me to stop, just tell me, okay?” Jack quietly said to you as he began to stroke your cheek. Once you nodded, he leaned down to kiss you again and slowly started to make his way down your neck and to your cleavage that was poking out of your dress. Jack didn’t say it to you out loud, but he had been eyeing you in your dress since the moment you put it on.
“May I?” Jack politely asked and as soon as you had given him the okay to do so, he slipped the dress from over top of your head and took in the sight before him as you didn’t wear a bra with it and only a black thong.
Jack then went back to placing kisses along your body and as he got lower, your heart rate then began to increase knowing what was about to happen.
He played with the band on the side of your thong before looking up at you and making sure that it was okay before going to slide it off. Once he did, he threw it across the room and simply peered down to look at you.
“You’re beautiful, baby. Inside and out. I’m about to get you ready for me, okay?”
“Okay.”
Jack then slowly inserted two of his fingers inside of you while kissing you at the same time. Feeling how wet you were only made his erection start to become painful seeing as he hadn’t been with anyone over the past five months and simply waited for you to be ready for him.
“And now why am I the only one who doesn't have any clothes on?” You curiously asked as Jack smiled before he leaned up away from you and reached down to pull his shirt over his head to throw it in the same direction that he threw your dress in.
“Now, we can’t have that, can we?”
“No we definitely can’t.”
Jack then hopped off the bed in order to take off his jeans and boxer briefs along with them and you were amazed at the sight as Jack quickly began stroking himself. You could see the precum leaking from the tip, but your focus was on how he was going to fit.
Jack saw the look on your face and immediately knew what you had been thinking as soon as your eyes had gone wide.
“Yes, baby it’s going to fit. That’s what you’re thinking isn’t it?”
All you did was nod before answering him.
“But how?” You quietly asked not 100% believing him.
“I’m going to go slow and take my time, that’s how.” He answered as he once again got on top to hover over you.
“Now, are you ready?”
You simply nodded as Jack told you to spread your legs a little bit more in order to give him room.
When he first inserted himself into you, it felt weird and didn’t hurt, but once he began to move further, you felt that first sting.
“Shit.” You muttered as you tightly squeezed your eyes shut.
“It’s going to be uncomfortable for a minute, but if you want me to stop, all you have to do is tell me.”
“No, keep going.”
“Just a little bit longer, baby. I’m almost there.” Jack said as he began to kiss you to take your mind off of it.
Once he was, he stopped moving in order for you to breathe for a second since he could tell that you were in pain.
“Whenever you’re ready for me to move, let me know.” He said as he placed kisses all along your neck and down the valley of your breasts. Another minute or so has passed when you felt as if you were ready for him to continue.
“Okay, I’m good now.”
“Now let me show you how much I love you and how much you mean to me.”
You woke up wrapped in Jack’s arms as he was lightly snoring in your ear and turned to your left so that you could get your phone and check for any messages that might have been sent to you after you fell asleep. It was around eight in the morning and you knew that you had a full day ahead of you and wanted to get an early start no matter how much you wanted to lay and stay in Jack’s arms.
Since Jack had announced your engagement last night at his show, the notifications had been flooding in, but there was a particular one that caught your eye. Your heart rate ended up increasing and you were trying to steady your breathing as you shook Jack awake. Because he needed to explain this and explain it now.
“Jack, get up.”
“Hmm, you want to go for another round? Give me five more minutes.”
“Jackman, NOW.”
“Okay, okay. Damn, so impatient this morning. I’ll eat you out for as long as you want so I can get rid of that attitude.” He replied while laughing as he turned to look at you and by the look that you were giving him, he knew that something was wrong.
“What’s…. Wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“So you’ve been lying to me?” You asked quietly while Jack was looking at you confused.
“Baby, lying about what? What do I have to lie to you for?”
“Then who the fuck is Gabrielle and why is she saying that you are her baby daddy and tagging you in a sonogram picture of her baby?”
Jack then sat up and turned towards you and tried to take your hand, but you immediately snatched it away from him.
“Hold on, babe. I can explain.”
“Then start fucking explaining and this better be one hell of a good explanation in order for me to not kick your ass.”
“We hooked up a few times and I….”
“When was the last time you saw her?” You asked while wrapping the sheet around you and looking at him for an explanation.
“Um…”
“Jackman, you better not lie to me because I will find out sooner or later and you know that I’m good for it so out with it.”
“A week before I proposed to you.”
You immediately looked away from Jack and simply peered down at your hands in your lap and didn’t bother to respond.
“But, I didn’t know if you were going to say yes or not! And….”
“So you had sex with her knowing that you were getting ready to propose to me without protection and want me to be okay with this? Did I get that right?”
“I wore protection and there is no way that the baby is mine, I promise. You have to believe me baby.”
“Well, didn’t you have sex with her?”
“Yes, but I wore protection like I said!”
“Condoms are only 99% effective so there is a chance that the baby could be yours and you had still been in communication with her so you knew about this shit and didn’t bother to tell me? Your best friend? Future wife? And your FUCKING MANAGER?”
“So, what was I supposed to say? Hey baby, I think I got a girl pregnant who I had a one night stand with?”
“Yes! That is literally exactly what you say! So you were about to just show up with a baby at our house one day and say this is my kid?!”
“For you to throw the ring at me and leave me? I…..”
“You know me better than that and I’ve put up with your shit for how long? The fiance in me might kick your ass and leave you, however manager me is going to try and save your career!”
“I’ll just get a DNA test and this can all go away.”
“Didn’t you make her sign an NDA then why the hell is she posting all of this?”
“Um…. about that….”
“HAVE I TAUGHT YOU NOTHING SINCE YOU’VE BEEN IN THIS INDUSTRY? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK JACKMAN?!”
“I know it looks bad, but….”
“That’s putting it lightly! You take my virginity one night and the next day I learn that my future husband has been lying to me, possibly has a baby on the way, and also doesn’t get his one night stands to sign NDA’s so that they can embarrass me on social media!”
“Why are you making this about you?! It’s my career that could get tarnished over this! And we weren’t even together when I hooked up with her!"
“So, you obviously don’t care how this affects me? Got it. My last name is about to be Harlow in case you fucking forgot and your career? The career that I MANAGE in case you forgot about that part too. We might have not been together but you knew that you were going to propose to me so make it make sense!"
“Okay, baby I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that but… I’m sorry for keeping this from you.”
“This is what has been bothering you since we landed isn’t it? And I gave you plenty of chances to tell me but you decided not to.”
“Because I didn’t know how you were going to react!”
“So, you let me find out by her tagging me and you in the sonogram pic on instagram? You could have told me this before you had sex with me. I just feel used and disgusted. I thought I knew you better than that but I guess not. The fact that you know that I always have your back and do anything for you but you decide to hide this from me? We're supposed to be a team, Jackman."
“I….”
“Do me a favor. Listen to me and listen to me good. I do not want to see you, hear your voice, or even be around someone that simply utters your name for the rest of the day while I try to do my best and be a good manager and fix the mess that you created because you wanted to get your dick wet. Get out and go to Urban's room.”
“But, babe….”
You simply shook your head at him and made your way to the bathroom as you slammed the door behind you while locking it.
Jack sighed and ran a hand through his curls as he could hear you start to cry in the bathroom not knowing how in the world he was about to fix this. He gathered all of his things while sliding on his sweatpants before making his way towards Urban’s room. He knocked a few times and Urban finally opened it while looking confused.
“Why are you over here?” He asked while moving to the side and letting him in and seeing that he had all of his bags with him.
“She found out through an instagram post and told me that she didn’t want to see me for the rest of the day.”
“About Gabrielle?”
“Yes.”
“I told you to tell her when we landed! Why did you wait so long in the first place?!”
“I… I don’t know.”
“How are you supposed to get out of this one? Because it is literally all over social media.” Urban said as he scrolled through his timeline on instagram.
"The only thing I can think of is doing a DNA test but I'm not back in Atlanta for another two months."
"And you know good and damn well not to ask Y/N to fly her out here in order to get it or have you fly back just for a test."
"I broke her trust and I have no idea how to get her to forgive me."
"She probably wouldn't have been as mad at you if you had been the one to tell her and not social media."
"And not to mention she finds out after we had sex for the first time last night."
"This literally just keeps getting worse." Urban responded as he hung his head.
"But that's not the worst part."
"How!? How is it not?!"
"Because that was her first time ever so she told me this morning that she felt used."
"You are such a dumbass. And I can see why she felt like that! You had literally been fucking Gabrielle up to the point where you proposed."
"I guess I'll just give her space but how is that even possible? She literally always has to be around me."
"You better get her a lot of expensive gifts in order for her to forgive you."
"I literally just bought her a car. And besides you know that isn't her thing. I'm better off actually making her something."
"Well get her a private jet next. Shit, I don't know. But if you make something that better be one hell of an arts and crafts project. That shit better be good enough to put in a museum. See I don't have these problems because I'm not a dumbass like you."
"I beg to differ, but okay."
Meanwhile, once you had gotten out of the shower and had gotten dressed, your phone alerted you to a text from Chris who was also Jack’s manager but taught you everything you knew in order to be able to handle things without him and be with Jack full time per Jack’s request.
Chris- Meet me in the lobby of the hotel and grab Jack
You- Is something wrong? Why are you even here?
Chris- I know you've seen it trending that's why I'm here
You- It literally broke less than 24 hours ago so you aren't even about to let me do my job?
Chris- Just meet me downstairs so we can talk
You rolled your eyes at his response and sent a quick text to Urban to tell Jack to meet you downstairs in the lobby. Once you got down there, you saw him conversing with Chris and a woman who you had never seen before. Once you reached them, Chris smiled at you.
"Y/N! Okay good everyone is here so we can go to the restaurant in the hotel to talk and Y/N this is Neelam and I'm bringing her on to manage Jack as well."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you." Neelam said, but you as well as Jack looked at Chris in disbelief.
"Uh, you too but um what? So you think I'm incapable of doing my job?" You questioned Chris as your arms were crossed.
"Y/N that isn't it at all. I know you can do your job well since I taught you everything that you know. I just figured you could use extra help since…."
"Since what?"
"Well since you two are now engaged, I don't want anything clouding your judgment as it relates to Jack’s career. I mean you two were close before, but now it's completely different."
"What does that even mean? My judgment has never been clouded before. His career is just as important to him as it is to me. I will always do what is best for him." You fired back and Chris simply sighed as Neelam was standing there awkwardly while Jack was scratching the back of his neck.
"Y/N, it's just to give you help."
Despite you not wanting to speak to him, you turned to Jack for an explanation.
"Did you know about this?"
"Me and Chris had talked about it, but I didn't…."
"So no one wants to be an adult and communicate around here? And tell me things that are going on? Okay, got it. Wonderful."
"Babe…." Jack started to say, but you simply held up your hand.
"Y/N, just come on so we can talk about this. I didn't mean to blindside you, but I thought Jack had at least mentioned it."
"Clearly all of the talking was done without me so it can continue to be done without me. Why would he mention that when he didn't even mention the possible baby he has on the way? You know what? Yall can figure it out while I take a personal day."
Once you walked away from them, you went back up to your hotel room and simply sat on your bed and the tears that you were holding were starting to come down your face at a rapid speed all while Jack and Chris were blowing up your phone.
Future Hubby- Babe, please just come back down here so we can talk. I admit that it slipped my mind and I forgot to tell you. I did it to put less pressure on you so we can plan for our wedding. I know you’re pissed at me with good reason but please talk to me.
Chris- Y/N, I'm only doing this because I want to help you. Please understand that.
All you did was place your phone on DND as you tried to even your breathing. The calls and texts were coming in left and right including from your parents, Ari, Urban just to name a few and you just needed a second to breathe.
About ten minutes had passed before you heard a knock on the door and went to look to see that it was Jack and immediately rolled your eyes before opening it.
"Can I help you?"
"Baby please just talk to me."
"And what am I supposed to say? You left me in the dark about two things and I'm just supposed to be okay with it?" You asked while moving to the side so he could fully come into the room.
"No and I admit that what I did was wrong and I'll try to fix it the best way I can. Neelam seems nice and I think you'll like her."
"She has one time and one time only to get on my nerves and if she does I want her gone. I don't need to be micromanaged."
"I know you don't, but this is just to have an extra set of hands and that's it. I promise."
"Hmm you've been promising a lot of things lately and have broken each one."
"And it won't happen again."
"I'll believe it when I see it but for now, I'm not believing anything else that comes out of your mouth. I never thought I would ever say that. You have literally broken thirty years of trust in a matter of three hours. You tell me everything and I do the same exact thing to you. Still can't believe you thought that you could hide an entire HUMAN BEING from me."
"I wasn't trying to hide her."
"Her? Oh, her. It's a girl then huh?"
"Well she told me that the baby was a girl. I was just saying." Jack quietly said and all you did was eye him.
"I still mean what I said. I really don't want to see you for the rest of the day."
"But…. You've never missed one of my shows."
"I can still come to your show and not look at you. It’s called being backstage."
All Jack did was sigh.
"What can I possibly do to make this better? I don't like when you're mad at me."
"Pissed and hurt is more like it and truth be told… I don't know. But tell your little baby mama to stop tagging me in shit on instagram. You can start there. As for now, I am going to the spa to relax because I know my blood pressure is through the roof right now. Also, you better hope and pray that the DNA test is negative."
"Wait! You aren't going to leave me if the baby is mine are you?" Jack asked and was low key starting to panic.
All you did was stare at him.
"Hold on, I know you’re pissed and I shouldn’t have been having sex with her up until the point that I did but like I said earlier we weren’t even together. And I don't want to be with anyone else."
"And like I said before, you planned on proposing and you told me that you had my ring for a whole damn year. And if it's yours that's not the problem. I'll even throw you a fucking baby shower. My problem is you lying to my face about it. For now, I'm done talking about this so go find Urban and bother him."
"Baby…"
"No. You don't get to call me that right now. And Urban knew about this didn't he?"
Now Jack was quiet.
"Yeah, you definitely aren't sleeping in the same bed as me tonight. Get out."

2 am
Your eyelids felt heavy as you finally pulled up outside the house. You let out a long sigh as you dragged your hands down your face before glancing at the time.
It was well past 2 am.
Glancing back up at the house you could see no lights were on. You had texted Chris the code to tell him it was going to be a late one so he no doubt had gone to bed hours ago. There was nothing you wanted more than to climb into bed and snuggle up next to him, if Dodger had left you any space that is.
Even though you were exhausted you remained sat in your car for another couple of minutes just gathering the energy to move. It had been an exhausting day, not just physically but emotionally too.
Eventually, you did manage to bring yourself to climb out of the car and head inside. You made sure you were as quiet as possible as you closed the door, took off your shoes and jacket. You didn’t want to accidentally wake Chris.
Even though you didn’t have much of an appetite you knew you needed to have something to eat. The last proper meal you had was lunch and that was over twelve hours ago. You also knew you’d just wake up hungry again in a couple hours if you didn’t and you really wanted to sleep for hours after today.
Walking into the living room you flicked on the light only to be startled by Chris startling awake from his spot on the couch. You clutched your chest as you tried to get your breathing back under control.
“Chris what the hell? You scared the shit out of me!” You complained as your heart rate finally returned to normal.
“Sorry,” he said rubbing the sleep from his eyes “I didn’t mean to scare you, or fall asleep, I was trying to stay awake until you got home” he explained.
“Why? I texted to say I’d be home late so you didn’t need to stay up” you told him, pulling out your phone to double-check you’d actually sent the code.
“I know” Chris said pushing himself up from the couch and walking over to you “I also knew tonight was gonna be a hard night and I didn’t like the idea of you getting home and being alone” he explained placing his hands on your arms.
You instantly softened hearing his reason, stepping into his embrace, burying your head in his chest as you let out a shaky breath. Chris instantly wrapped his arm around you pressing a soft kiss to the top of your head.
“Wanna talk about it?” He asked softly, rubbing your soothingly.
“Not yet, I think I’m still processing it all, I just wanna sleep but I should eat first” you sighed pulling away enough to look up at him.
“Okay, I saved you a plate so I’ll go warm it up, make yourself comfortable” Chris smiled softly, nodding to the couch.
“Not too comfortable otherwise I’ll be asleep before you even get into the kitchen” you pointed out.
Chris lets out a small snort of laughter “Okay make yourself uncomfortable” he chuckled.
You give him a tired smile as you sit down on the couch, sitting on the edge as you knew that if you sat too far back sleep would be too inviting. Thankfully it wasn’t long until Chris returned with a plateful of food for you, and a smaller plate for himself.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence as you ate. Once you were finished you set your plate down on the coffee table and let out a long sigh.
“We found the body,” you told Chris.
You heard him let out a long sigh as he put his hand on the small of your back. He didn’t say anything though, he knew to just give you time to talk it all through.
“We still have to confirm it's her because there was a lot of decay but she was in the exact spot he said she was” You continued rubbing your hand over your forehead “I just… I feel so sorry for the families…. Both of them… one lost their daughter and the other has just found out their son isn’t who they thought he was”
Chris let out another sigh as he shifted closer to you, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you closer into his side. He knew exactly where your mind was going, it hadn’t been that long since you found out your own father wasn’t who you thought he was.
You let out a shuddering sigh as you wiped away the stray tears that fell “Sorry” you muttered.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Chris said shaking his head “You have nothing to apologise for”
“I shouldn’t be thinking of him though” you pointed out looking up at him.
“It's okay, it’s natural and you always will it’ll just be easier to move on” Chris reassured you “And I know it sucks and it hurts but it means you understand what they’re going through and feeling and you’ll be able to provide them the correct support”
You sighed nodding your head “Yeah you’re right, thank you” you say looking up at him.
Chris gave you a soft smile “It’s nothing, now let's get you up to bed, you deserve it” he said as he pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“I don’t think I have the energy to stand” you admitted making Chris chuckle.
“Don’t you worry about that” he said with a lopsided smile before he stood up, hooked his arms around you and lifted you into his arms.
You let out a squeak of surprise before quickly snuggling into his arms. You smiled up at him forever grateful that you had him in your life to look after you after tough shifts, providing you a safe space that you never had before. He hadn’t even made it all the way upstairs before you fell asleep in his arms.

Angst: 22. “You cheated first!” w/ Andrew Svechnikov
Tumblr media
2 Wrongs
“I’m sorry” Andrei says to me but all I can do is purse my lips together and nod.
“Yeah me too” I say standing from where we sat in the kitchen then walk towards our shared room. I lock the door behind me and sit on the bed.
“Would you open the door?” I hear him say from the other side, “I want to work this out!”
I’m still in disbelief from what he just told me. Andrei cheated on me. He told me while he was on the road he hooked up with some girl. He followed by saying it was a mistake and that it would never happen again.
I pulled my phone out and texted some of my friends asking if they wanted to meet up and go out to the bars. I explained that home is the last place I wanted to be. I ignored Andrei on the other side of the bedroom door as I sat at the vanity and started doing my makeup. I put on something slutty then opened the door.
Andrei was sitting down leaning against the wall across the hall. He stood up to face me when I opened the door to face me and I look up at him.
“where are you going?”
“Our”
“dressed like that?”
"Don't worry, I'll remember that I have someone waiting for me at home" I say pushing past him and making my way to the front door
"Can we just talk before you leave?"
“No, you've ruined my night enough already” I beginning to open the door but Andrei pushes it back shut
"Don't!" I yell at him for the first time tonight since he let me know about his little accident, "I swear to god Andrei, if you don't let me leave right now, I will never come back!"
Andrei slides over letting me open the door. I feel his eyes burn through me as I leave him in our house and make my way to the Uber at the end of our driveway.
I Ubered to my friends house and we pre-gamed with shots before heading out to the bar. We took our seats at a booth in the back while we discussed the reason everyone was summoned for a night out on such short notice.
"He cheated?!" Erin asks
"Yeah, while he was on the road. He just told me like 2 hours ago"
"How did that come up?" Kayla asks
"He just said that something had been bothering him for the past week and that he wanted to talk about me, I thought he was just upset about something, but no he fucking cheated" I explain
"You poor thing! Are you alright?" Brooke asks
"Well, I haven't cried yet" I say and they all look at me with shocked expressions
"So is the wedding off?" Kayla asks and I sigh
"No" I say twirling the diamond ring around my finger, "We didn't really get a chance to really talk, I just kind of sat there and looked at him"
I sat and listened to them tell me what they would do if they were in my position until I finally had enough and excused myself to get a drink. I made my way over and wait by the bar when a man stands beside me also waiting for the bartender. The bartender comes over and looks at the man
“I’ll get a Guinness and she’ll have..” he says then looks at me
“A Long Island” I smile
He slides the drink over to me then pays as I take the diamond ring off my finger and put it in my purse.
“Mat” he says to me
“Y/n” I smile
“Beautiful name" he compliments me making my cheeks red, "so, are you around here?"
"Yeah, well just moved a couple years ago for my-" I stop myself from saying my actual reason for moving down here and lie, "for my job, how about you?"
"No no, just here for hockey" he says and I immediately recognize who I am talking to. Mat Barzal. I nod my head and he takes that as an indication to elaborate, "I play for the Islanders, we play the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon"
Mat and I end up talking the whole night. We continue drinking until Mat finally asks where I’m headed after.
“Suppose to be a friends house” I say looking around, “but I don’t see them anymore”
“Well” he says pushing a strand of my hair out of my face, “I have a hotel room to myself”
"Let's go then, I wouldn't want you to get lonely tonight"
I ended up having sex with him then left his place around 5:30. By the time I ubered back to my place it was 6am so I tried to be quiet as I stumbled in. I open my bedroom door to see Andrei wasn’t there so I flopped on the bed.
I slept until 10am when I heard a small knock on the door. I looked up at the door as it opens and Andrei walks in. He sits on the edge of the bed beside me, "Can we talk sometime today?" he asks
Memories from last night in Mat's hotel room flood my mind and I feel instant regret. I was distracted from my thoughts when I feel Andrei rub my arm but I shake him off feeling disgusted in myself.
"Sorry" I say as I saw the sad reaction wipe across his face, I rub my hands over my face and through my hair then look back at Andrei again. This time his face looked a little more hurt.
"Your ring" he points out and I look at my hand realizing I didn't put it back on, "you took it off"
I bite my lip to hold in my tears as I feel them quiver, I take a deep breath and look at Andrei. The only thing my mind allows my body to do is just nod.
"Does this mean-" he stops then stand from the bed before finishing what he said. He shakes his head and left the room then eventually the house slamming the front door behind him.
I spent the rest of the day crying about the whole situation, about him, and about my own guilt. He didn't end up coming home that night. Or even the next morning. He probably stayed with KK since they had become close since he joined us last year or one of the other boys.
I decided to just watch the game from home, since going to the game didn't feel like an option. Just watching from home I felt sick. I watch as Andrei has one of the worst games of his life, I can see him look up to the section where I normally sit and I'm not there.
I looked away for a second as the whistles blows as Freddie covers the puck, then see Andrei on top of someone from the other team. This is exactly what I was scared of. I watched as Mat got off the ice and Andrei laughs as he makes a comment to him as they made there way to the box. His smile immediately washes off his face as Mat laughs a chirp back. I can see the angry in his eyes as he sits back on his bench.
His next shift was short. He hopped on the ice and lined up for the face off beside Barzal. The two immediately start chopping at each others chins before a huge scrum at the face off started before the puck was even dropped. After the two boys were ejected I turned the tv off and got ready for bed.
I thought about leaving before he got home but decided to stay and wait. He might not even come home again tonight I thought to myself. Once it was too late for me to leave, I instantly regretted not leaving and decided I was going to pretend to be asleep.
I heard the front door open followed by footsteps making their way directly to our room. The bedroom door opens and the light snaps on as Andrei practically punches the switch. I swallow as I sense his anger from across the room.
"Get up." Andrei grits through his teeth, I start breathing a little heavier before he speaks again, "Get the fuck up!" he says a lot louder.
I push myself so I am standing up in the bed looking over at him. He shakes his head looking at me before yelling: "What the fuck!". He then swung his fist into the wall making me jump.
"Andrei-" I start but he cuts me off
"No, you don't get to talk!" he says facing me as he begins pacing back and forth. He stops when his back faces me and shakes his head again, "I never even thought that the reason you took the ring off was to act like a fucking slut!"
I feel a tear sting in my eye as I begin to stand up to try to make myself bigger. He laughs dryly once the tear decides to escape from my eye, "You're crying? You're fucking crying! You embarrass me, and you are crying?!"
"Stop yelling at me!" I yell through my tears
"You fucking cheated on me!"
"You cheated first!" I yell back almost immediately
He closes his eyes and makes his way over to the other side of the bed before sitting down. He runs a hand through his hair then looks up at the ceiling. I watch him as I stand beside the other side of the bed.
"I waited all night for you" he says as if he is ashamed of himself. I opened my purse and grabbed the ring, "I was going to fight for you, do everything I possibly could to get you back"
I walked around the bed and sat beside him on the bed. He looks over at me and brings his hand up resting it on my face to position it to look into his teary eyes but I grab his hand and place the ring in the palm of his hand before closing it with both of mine.
I hold on to his hand before standing up from the bed and grabbing a hoodie from the closet. I open the bedroom door and looked back at him, "I know you want to believe that I sealed the deal, but you did the moment you even thought about cheating on me" I say before leaving him, making him somebody I use to know.

raph fans come get y'all juice. chapter four of i'm sorry, teenage mutant what now? is up! read it on ao3 or below the cut!
[ prev ]
Okay, fine, he’d admit it. Dad was acting weird.
Like, weird weird, not regular weird. Their dad had always been weird, which Leo had always chalked up to 1.) him being their dad 2.) him spending time in Hollywood. But this? This was off, even for him.
Last night, he spaced out in the middle of one of Mikey’s stories, and Leo still wasn’t sure if he had literally fallen asleep with his eyes open or if he had just accidentally astral projected to the Twilight Zone or something. Of course, they had all then proceeded to say the most absolutely asinine, insane shit that they could think of in an attempt to goad a reaction until Mikey finally managed to snap him out of it by throwing some lentils at him. The day before that, he caught him rifling through that old shelf of weird knick-knacks that none of them were allowed to touch, muttering to himself the entire time like some crazy supervillain. Like, dude, had some ancient ninja ghost replaced their daddy, or what? ‘Cause this was getting freaky. He had kind of just thought Donnie was overreacting, but maybe he was onto something…
He hated it when Donnie was right. It happened annoyingly often and he could never admit it, lest he risk his twin’s ego becoming even larger. There’s only room for one egomaniac in this family.
“Think we can corner Dad on the train ride home and find out what’s happening? That way he won’t be able to run.” He said, casually, inviting himself into his twin brother’s room and tossing himself down on their bed.
Donnie pulled his eyes away from whatever robotics project he was currently tinkering with in order to glare at his brother, spinning around in his desk chair.
“Groan. Do we have to? That sounds unpleasant at best.”
“Hey, you started this in the first place. And you agreed to the plan,” he countered, pointing accusingly at the other. “You don’t get to back out now.”
“I’m not saying that I’m not worried, or that I don’t think someone should talk with him. I’m just saying that I don’t want to do it.” Donnie defended.
“Bummer. You’re participating.” Leo deadpanned. “Between you, me, and Raph, we might have half a chance. And if not… Well. We’ve got the big guns waiting at home.”
Donnie shuddered a bit. The Doctor.
“I don’t know. Based on historical data, there’s about a 76.4% chance that Dad will attempt to bodily throw himself out the window of a moving train if we try to talk to him about his feelings.”
“Do you think we can find a train car without windows?”
“I’ll do some research. I’m sure there are specs available online...” Donnie sighed, turning back around to face his desk and pulling out his phone.
Leo hummed softly, knowing that Donnie would, in fact, actually do that, whether or not it was realistic.
“I’m serious, Donnie. We actually have to talk to him.”
“I mean, yeah, sure. I am too. But what the hell are we gonna say?”
“Ugh. I don’t know! You’re the one with a therapist! And you’ve been seeing her for how long now? Shouldn’t you know how to do all the talky-feely shit by now?”
“I’m autistic.”
“So?”
“You should get a therapist.”
“Off-topic,” Leo muttered, rolling his eyes. “This is, like, weirder than he usually is. Like… Something is for real wrong. It’s kind of spooky.”
“It’s Mikey.”
Leo scoffed. “It’s not Mikey.”
“Yeah, it is. He started being weird right after Mikey lit himself on fire.”
“Mikey didn’t light himself on fire, Dee.”
“Well, he clearly did something . And Dad keeps looking at him like he thinks he’s gonna combust at any moment. There’s a very clear pattern of behavior, Leo.” He insisted. “Also, you don’t know what the hell Mikey did, either, because we both know he wasn’t just playing with matches in his room.”
“He might have been.” Leo huffed. “That kid is way more fucked up than we give him credit for. Remember in the fourth grade when someone destroyed his science fair project?”
Donnie shivered. “You don’t just forget something like that, Leo.”
“Exactly! Playing with lighters is totally within the realm of possibility.”
“There’s a difference between enacting violent but justified revenge and doing simply dangerous stuff just for the fun of it.” Donnie countered, glancing up at the other through half-lidded eyes. “Plus, he’s used to all of us doing dangerous stuff for the fun of it! Dad wouldn’t react this way if he was just worried Mikey was gonna hurt himself. He deals with worrying Mikey is gonna hurt himself all the time. Nor would he let Mikey get away with this with nary a punishment if that were truly the case. In the very least, Dad doesn’t think the event was the result of Mikey just ‘playing with lighters.’”
“Oh, so what? It’s magic? His notebook magically caught on fire?” Leo challenged dryly, giving his twin an unimpressed look.
“Of course not. I’m a man of science.” Donnie scoffed. “I’m sure there’s a logical explanation, but, admittedly, I haven’t been able to intuit exactly what the cause was just yet. My investigation is still ongoing.” He sighed. “... But maybe Dad thinks it was?”
Leo paused for a moment, rolling the thought around in his head, frowning a bit.
“You think Dad thinks Mikey magically caught his notebook on fire?” He questioned, raising one brow in doubt.
“It’s possible,” Donnie said, shrugging. “We know that he’s superstitious.”
Leo hummed softly, his hand automatically moving to spin the small silver bracelet on his wrist, running his fingertips across the smooth edges of the blue crystal in its center. One in a set of five. He supposed that that was technically true… ‘Superstitious’ wasn’t really the first word that would come to mind if he was trying to describe his father. It wouldn’t even be in the top ten. But slapping actual good-luck charms onto each of his children did kind of automatically sort him into that category, didn’t it?
He knew his dad had a small altar in his room, and they would occasionally celebrate, or at least acknowledge, Japanese holidays that he had grown up with. But they didn’t have any other charms or amulets in their home, at least not that Leo knew of, just old knick-knacks and trinkets that lived on shelves or in closets. They had never gone to a shrine or temple or church or anything of the like in their lives, and he had never heard his Dad pray before. But the bracelets? He had always been really invested in that. Leo literally couldn’t remember a time when they hadn’t all worn them. He had told them since they were small that they ‘kept them safe ,’ and it had been a hard rule their entire lives that they weren’t to be removed.
It was the kind of thing that Leo was pretty sure people would think was weird if he brought it up-- so he usually didn’t. He used to think it was weird, too, honestly, and kind of dumb. I mean, they were just bracelets, right? So what did it matter? But he remembered the one time he had tried to take it off when he was around seven. Even now it was absolutely vivid in his brain every time he thought about it.
He hadn’t been trying to rebel or make trouble or anything, he had just been bored. He forgot exactly where they were, but they were waiting in line for something at some building with lots of desks and people milling about, discussing boring things. And there wasn’t anything to do! He had exhausted all viable options for entertaining himself: Annoying his father. Annoying his brother. Annoying his other brother. Annoying his other other brother. So he had basically run out of ideas.
He hadn’t even taken the bracelet off. I mean, not all the way. He was just messing with it, kind of yanking it up and down his wrist, and seeing if he could wiggle it up his hand over his knuckles--
But god, he remembers the way his father’s voice sounded when he caught him, biting out his name like it was painful. He remembers the look on his face, and even now it makes him feel small.
Not because his dad was angry. But because he was scared.
He had never seen his dad look that way before in his entire life. Like he was about to watch the entire world crumble down around him.
It was scary. His dad was scared, so he got scared, too. He shivers a little bit at the memory, his frown deepening. They had left shortly after, and Dad had assured him at least twenty times that he wasn’t mad, and he was sorry for scaring him, and it was okay, but that he couldn’t take the bracelet off. It was important.
Leo and his brothers had kind of decided after that that it probably was important and that they really shouldn’t take them off. Leo wasn’t entirely sure if he completely believed now that they actually ‘kept them safe’ or whatever, but he had certainly believed it then. And besides that, clearly, their father believed it, and that alone was enough for him. It was too small to really get off now, anyway. They had grown enough that Leo doubted he could wriggle his way out of it even if he wanted to. It was a small miracle that Raph hadn’t busted his with how damn beefy he had grown, but hey, he wasn’t gonna look a gift horse in the mouth or anything.
“Okay. Fine.” Leo conceded. “So, Dad thinks Mikey has magic hands, or whatever. What do we do about it?”
---
The train ride over to the swim meet was relatively calm, filled with idle chatter and conversation. Leo, Donnie, and Raph had met their Dad at the station after school, and they spent the trip discussing the new leaf Donnie's Monstera was growing, the most recent viral street magic video Leo had seen, and the latest funny thing Raph's swim kids had done. Raph attempted, unsuccessfully, to prod their Dad into sharing as well, but the most he got was information about the latest reality show episode he had watched. Their Dad wasn't always the biggest sharer, but usually, they could at least get him to discuss the state of his Dojos, any new acting prospects, or celebrity gossip. He loved celebrity gossip! But not today-- the conversation stayed squarely focused on his three sons.
Still, it had been pleasant, even with the slight stirring of anxiety in Raph's stomach. They were all busy more often than they weren't, so it was always nice to get to spend any amount of time together. Their pops didn't always attend all their various sporting events, recitals, or other competitions-- it just wasn't realistic. There was only one of him, after all. But they were getting towards the end of the season at this point, which meant that all the 'important' events were beginning to crop up on their calendars. Their Dad hated to miss those-- even if they did go pretty much every year. He always said he wanted to ‘brag about how talented his children were.’
The sports center was just a short walk from the train station, and Raph glanced down at their father as they made their way into the bustling lobby. "You know where you're goin', pops?"
"Yes, yes, of course. I could give tours of this place." His father joked, his frame shaking with his laughter. "You boys know how to find me if you need me. Now, go and have fun. And also, kick some butt!" He encouraged with a toothy grin.
"You got it, pops!" Raph assured, smiling wide in response, herding his two younger brothers off to the locker room. Usually, they'd come here with the rest of their team. Rather than traveling with their Dad, they'd travel with the other kids and their coach. But this was the city-wide meet. Qualifiers only-- which thinned out the crowd. Raph knew there were other competitors from the Mad Dogs Swim Team around here somewhere, but until they could hunt them down, it was just the three of them. Luckily, this was far from their first rodeo.
"Dibs on Candy Locker!" Leo yelled.
"Leo, no one else wants Candy Locker," Donnie said.
"Do not touch the Candy Locker!" Raph shouted.
They did this every year.
The infamous Candy Locker.
Raph, Leo, and Donnie had been competing in swim since they were eight and seven, respectively. And every year since then, all three of them had qualified for city-wide. And every year, city-wide was held at the Aquatics Pavilion at the Ithaca College campus. And every year that they came here, since they discovered it their very first time, the Candy Locker remained.
It was basically a historical landmark at this point, and Raph was continuously baffled that it still persevered. There were rows and rows of shiny slate gray lockers in the changing rooms, free for whatever visiting athlete to use while they competed, just big enough that you could fit a swim bag in there if you really put some muscle into it, all labeled and neat. Typically, you would open a locker without a padlock, and there would be one of two things there. One: someone else's clothes and bag. Someone already took this locker, but is playing it fast and loose and trusts no one will steal their shit. That's cool. Stealing ain't the Mad Dog way. Two: An empty locker. Sweet, free locker. You can shove your shit in there. But at the Aquatics Pavilion, there was also a third option.
That option was a faded yellow pillowcase filled to the brim with about two pounds of Halloween candy.
The running theory was that someone had stashed it here ages ago, forgotten it, and it had just been there ever since, therefore transforming Locker 336 into ‘Candy Locker.’ Raph wasn't sure if the staff at the school truly just weren't aware of it, if they just didn't feel like dealing with it, or if they too respected it enough that they couldn't bring themselves to destroy it. All he knew was that Candy Locker was forever, and a fixture of the institution.
He also knew that every single year, without fail, Leo tried to sneak chocolate out of Candy Locker.
"You can't use Candy Locker. Leo! It's not open for use! It's Candy Locker, and it needs to be treated with respect!" Raph yelled, giving a low groan of annoyance as Leo just barely glanced back at him, just for a moment, this absolutely feral look of excitement in his eyes, and darted off, breaking away from their small group. Dammit.
All of Raph's little brothers were fast and small and nimble. Raph always felt a tiny bit awed when he watched how they moved-- weaving about obstacles like minnows swimming upstream, dancing and darting about in a way that always looked effortless. Raph was fast, too, and he was far more acrobatic than the average high schooler... Don't get it twisted, he was perfectly capable of back-flips and cartwheels. But small? Small he was not.
It was tough being a big guy sometimes. I mean, he didn't dislike it by any means! He loved being large enough that he could see over crowds and keep an eye on everything. He loved feeling strong and powerful enough that he could plant himself in between his family and any kind of danger, and feel like a wall-- an immovable object. He loved being strong, relished the rush of pinning his opponents to the ground beneath him without any effort and smashing his way through obstacles.
... But with size and strength comes responsibility. Wait, was that the quote? Something like that. The point was, if he ran after Leo, he'd mow half these kids down.  And he didn't wanna hurt anyone or anything. He knew better than that.
"Raphael."
Raph's father knelt down next to him, his voice gentle, but nudging, demanding to be heard. It took Raph a few moments, but eventually, he glanced up at him, peeking shyly at his father from behind his hand and uncurling from the small ball he was rolled into just the tiniest bit.
 "Raphael, did you hit Leonardo?"
He hesitated for a moment, and then nodded a tiny bit, sniffling loudly.
 "And bite him?"
He nodded again, drawing his legs up to his chest and hiding his face in his knees.
His father sighed softly. "Red, we cannot--"
"He pushed me first!" He bit out, and he could feel his face burn even hotter than before, all muddy with shame and anger sloshed together. "H-he was being mean, and, and he wouldn't leave me alone! And I wanted him to stop!"
"I will talk to him, Red. But just because he pushes you does not mean you can push back. Or hit him, or bite him. You are bigger than him, Raphael."  This brought a fresh sob tumbling through Raph's chest, despite his best efforts. His father sighed again before slowly sitting down, holding out his arms.
 "Come here, my son."
Raphael rolled over onto his hands and knees, crawling into his dad's lap and burrowing his face into his chest. His dad's arms wrapped around him, squeezing him tight and rocking the two of them back and forth. And for a while, they just sat like that, quiet and still, hidden away in the hallway closet.
"Is Leo okay?" Raph eventually mumbled, not picking up his head.
"He will be alright," Dad confirmed. "But you did hurt him quite a bit, Raphael."
"Sorry." He whispered. He wiped at his face with balled-up fists, hiccuping a few times. His mouth tasted salty, now, from the tears, but it still tasted bitter from the blood, too.
"...You did a very good job coming to get me right away."
Raph hummed a tiny bit in response, but he didn't say anything beyond that. He wished he could fold himself up even tighter and hide. He wished he was so small he could fit in between the floorboards. He wished he could disappear.
"You know, your gym teacher is very impressed with you, Red." Dad eventually began to speak again. "He told me all about how wonderfully you do whenever he sees you. You're bigger and stronger than the other kids in your class," He continued, and then laughed. "And I think that is very cool! And it makes me very proud to hear about how well you have done."
Raph finally dared to peek up at his father again, wiping some of the tears off his cheeks.
"But I know it can be hard to be strong sometimes. It is a lot of work, being big and strong! You have to be careful with others around you, even if they're not careful with you back. That is very difficult!" He said, his hand moving in slow circles up and down his child's spine. "But I have seen you many, many times be big and strong to protect your brothers, and keep them safe, and to help them." He said, keeping quiet for a moment before exhaling slowly through his nose. "... Can I share a secret with you, Red?"
A secret? His eyes widened a bit, and he immediately nodded.
"I have been thinking that perhaps you boys might be ready to start learning proper martial arts at the dojo." Raph let out an audible gasp, his entire body perking up with excitement. Actual for real kung-fu and karate and stuff?! Not just blocks and poses!? "But I am a little worried that your brothers might hurt themselves, or fight with each other if I teach them."
Oh. Raph hadn't thought of that before. He frowned a bit, his brows suddenly pinched with worry. He hadn’t ever considered before that learning martial arts could actually be a bad idea. If he learned martial arts with his Dad, what if he just hurt his brothers worse?
"But I know how much you all want to learn. And I can already see how much potential you all have." He continued with a soft smile. "So I was hoping that you could help me. I don't like that you and Leo got into a fight, or that he got hurt... But now I know that you know what it feels like to hurt someone that you love. And that it doesn't feel very good, does it?"
No... It felt horrible. He furrowed his brows, frowning before nodding a bit.
"So I think that means that I can trust you to help me with teaching them how to be careful and strong at the same time, and keep them safe. Do you think you could handle that, Red?"
Raphael swallowed hard, feeling this wet lump form in his throat. All the tears from before welled up in his eyes again-- even though he didn't wanna live in the floorboards anymore. His dad still trusted him that much? Even now, after he messed up really bad? He tried to tell his father 'yes,' but his lips were wobbling too much for his tongue to work right, so he just nodded as hard as he could instead. Yes-- He wanted more than anything to help protect his little brothers, no matter what. ‘Cause even when they made him so, so angry... he still loved them so, so much.
"I thought so." Dad laughed, kissing the top of his son's head before ruffling his hair lightly. "And I know we will not have any more fighting like this. And no more biting , Raphael. We have talked about this. If you want to bite something, I will get you something else that is for biting. But it cannot be people! Understood?"
Hiccuping a bit, Raphael nodded again. Somehow, he wasn't even upset to be scolded this time. And he knew that he had said he wouldn't bite people before, but this time he really meant it.
"Good boy. Now, I am going to go check on your brothers. Do you want to stay here a little bit longer, or do you want to come with me?"
Raph took a long, deep breath, swallowing the lump in his throat so that he could find his voice again.
 "I wanna see my brothers."
"GET BACK HERE, LEO. DON'T MAKE ME COME AFTER YOU." He shouted, and was completely ignored. "Donnie--"
"Not involved." Donnie immediately replied, not looking up from his phone.
Raph groaned, trying to pick up the pace without taking out any bystanders, muttering repeated, "Pardon me's," and "'Scuse me's," as he went.
Leo really wasn't that far ahead of them-- He wouldn't completely ditch them, but he did get far enough ahead that he was already breaking into Candy Locker by the time Raph rounded the corner, his face set into a deep scowl.
 "Leo. Don't you dare."
"Look! Untouched and beautiful as ever!"
"Leo, do not eat the candy ."
"Wow, and they have all our favorites, too..."
"They are at least eight years old! At a minimum , Leo!"
"Oh, pshhh. As if I haven't seen you wolf down two-week-old leftovers before." Leo scoffed.
"Remember that time he ate beef jerky out of the trash?" Not helping, Donnie.
"It was right on top! Practically untouched!" Raph protested. "And that's completely different! Plus, eight years is, like, twelve times longer than two weeks is!"
"That math is not correct..." Donnie mumbled under his breath.
"Chillax! I'm not gonna eat any of the candy." Leo said, holding his hands up in mock surrender.
 Oh, thank god.
"I just wanna have one. To like... put on a shelf or something. I bet Donnie could make a little pedestal for it."
 Dammit.
"One year." Raph said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Just one year. I just want us to leave Candy Locker in peace... for one year . It's a sacred space, Leo!"
"Mmmm..." Leo pursed his lips, placing a hand on his hip. "Yeah, I mean. I see what you're saying, but... I'm pretty sure no one is gonna miss, like, one Tootsie Pop."
"Stop messing with him, Leo." Donnie chided, cracking open a locker nearby, tossing his bag down and shucking off his jacket.
"Okay, okay. Fine. Because I'm an amazing brother, I will refrain from interacting any further with Candy Locker until after the meet." Leo declared, slapping the locker shut again with a flick of his wrist and a satisfying metallic clack. "But know this, Raphael. This isn't over."
Raphael scoffed, rolling his eyes, glaring at Leo as he yanked open his own locker. He loved his brothers dearly-- he did. But they were really lucky sometimes that he didn't just snap their necks.

At this point, Yoshi had a pretty good handle on these types of events, and he knew well enough how to navigate. He knew exactly which corner bounced cheers and shouts about the least, knew just where all the vents, pumping in warm air to prevent all the swimmers from freezing their butts off, were hidden, so they could be avoided, and knew the best seating arrangement that allowed for minimal soreness the following day. Metal bleachers weren’t exactly easy on your back, after all! Armed with years of experience, (plus his cellphone and earbuds for when events did not feature his sons and he got bored,) he was fully committed to making it through the meet and focusing for the entirety of it. Had he made any progress on the whole Hamato Ninpo thing? Well, no, not exactly. Which was. Ah. Worrisome. But, now was not the time for that!
He was quite excited to watch his three eldest sons kick ass and take names, as per usual.
He said 'hello' to a few of the other parents that he knew and made some polite small talk, settling down to watch the meet. Warm-ups were already done by the time he was all seated, and he could see his boys and the rest of their team from where they sat across the pool; audience members sat on one side, and competitors on the other. He watched them doing much of the same-- making conversation with each other and their teammates, checking their phones, and cheering whenever anyone they knew was in the water.
All in all, everything was fairly normal and expected. Yoshi still struggled a bit to keep himself focused, and not think too deeply about all the worries in his head, but it wasn't as bad as it had been lately... It had been nearly a week now with no further incidents, no questioning from his children, and no spooky prophecies or visions from his ancestors or anything like that. So he was beginning to wonder, or perhaps more accurately, hope that maybe it had just been a fluke. Just a one-off event rather than the beginning of anything trying. Maybe his family was fine, their identity and secrets were safe, and nothing further was going to occur to jeopardize that-- they could just continue to live in peace just as they had been.
He watched the twins get up from the bench for their next event, shedding their hoodies and towels in favor of goggles, only to get waved over by an official. The two wandered over and joined him and what appeared to be another parent. He couldn't hear what they were saying from where he was, but the conversation soon became animated-- Donnie's arms crossed over his chest, Leo talking wildly with his hands, and worry immediately began to blossom in his chest. He had just gotten to his feet, beginning to make his way over to the group when the discussion seemed to dissolve, his two sons walking away visibly upset. Yoshi met them halfway.
"What is going on?" He immediately questioned, his brows knit together, forming wrinkled creases in his skin. He could see Raphael straining to see from his side of the pool, a similar expression on his own face.
"Ugh. It's nothing." Leo huffed, a scowl set on his face, his hands on his hips. "Some Karen or whatever is just mad that we're gonna ruin her kid's record or whatever, so she talked the officials into drug testing us."
"Which is obviously a complete waste of time and resources," Donnie added in, rolling his eyes.
"She's just gonna embarrass herself when it comes back negative. As if we need any steroids to clean up shop." Leo declared, a small, sly grin growing on his face, offering out a hand to high-five his brother like, ‘Sick burn, right, Dee?'
His brother accepted, slapping his palm firmly. "Indeed."
Yoshi had broken out into a cold sweat, feeling as though his entire body had turned into stone, freezing him in place.
"O-oh. A drug test. Yes, how silly..." He mumbled, forcing a grin on his face. "How. Uh. How exactly... Does that work? Is it going to take long? I would hate for the, uh, the meet to be held up...!"
"No, they're just doing a rapid test." Donnie hummed. "Obviously it's going to be a smaller panel than they could achieve with a proper lab test, and not achieve quite as accurate or varied of a data set, but it should only take five minutes or so. I understand they're fetching the technician now, and then it should be as simple as collecting a urine sample to use. It can only reveal a 'negative' or 'positive' result rather than any more detailed variations or anything of the like, but of course, this isn't a concern for us, since we already know neither of us is using any drugs. It's actually a very fascinating process--"
Yoshi wasn't listening anymore, because all he could hear in his ears was his own voice screaming TURTLE PISS TURTLE PISS TURTLE PISS.
Logically, the test did not have the capacity to give such information. Donatello had just said that there were only two possible test results, positive or negative, and his purplest son usually knew what he was talking about regarding such things. So, reasonably, he knew it could not possibly come back ‘Mutant Turtle’. And rationally, he knew that his family had been under further scrutiny in the past and come out on the other side just fine. This did not ease his panic. It never did.
Insurance cards? Check. Paperwork? Check. All four children? Check. He went over his list for the fifth time in his head, glancing down at his kids, two on either side of him, as they approached the office. Right... Yes. He had everything he needed.
So why didn't he feel even the least bit prepared?
He had gone to such lengths to ensure the success of this plan. He had accounted for every document that would need to be forged, had crafted an elaborate story to explain his disappearance, and had paid dearly for the five bracelets that concealed his and his sons' mutant identities. He prepared for every possible threat to their new identities, and did everything he could to allow the success of their new lives.
It wasn't like he didn't account for this. He knew that it would be an obstacle, and he knew that it would be one that they would have to face. That didn't stop it from being terrifying.
 The doctor.
Despite all the paperwork he had fabricated, he knew that they wouldn't be able to avoid going to the doctor forever. Even if he falsified records indicating his sons were up to date on absolutely everything and in perfect health, this would only buy them a year or two before they would be due for a visit, or risk being barred from enrollment in public school. And even if he somehow avoided this, too, what if one of his children got sick? Or injured? Was he to simply keep them at home and deny them medical care?
No, no. He wanted his kids to have a normal life. He wanted them to be able to do things like go to school and play in parks and make friends with other children... and have proper medical care when it was needed. He wanted them to be vaccinated, to be screened for problems, to have regular check-ups and be able to go to the hospital when they were hurt. He desperately wanted this.
But jesus christ, this was terrifying.
"Are you ready, boys?" He asked, glancing down at his children once more. He was trying to keep his voice level and his body language calm, but he could tell that his sons could sense his anxiety. His heart broke a little when four pairs of big, horrified eyes looked up at him and they shook their heads.
"Ah, where are my brave boys?" He questioned, nudging them ever so slightly, beginning the walk into the office. He held Mikey and Donnie's hands tightly so that they wouldn't be able to tell he was shaking. "Do not worry. I promise that Dr. Davis is very nice. Nothing bad will happen." He assured.
The boys didn't seem too convinced. He wasn't either, truthfully, but he marched them inside anyway.
It had been over a decade since he had last been inside a doctor's office, and even longer than that since he had been to a pediatrician. Yet somehow, it felt like nothing had really changed. Colorful wires with wooden beads strung on them stuck out from a brightly-painted table in the middle of the room, in sharp contrast to the faded burgundy chairs lined along the walls. Children's books and Highlight magazines covered every available surface, which Donnie immediately took to reading. There were a few other parents with their children as well, but the Hamatos were in no mood to socialize. After speaking to the woman at the front desk, Yoshi got to work filling out a literal stack of papers. He was so nervous, he messed up at least three different forms, and had to sheepishly request new copies.
 And then they waited.
The longer they sat, the more the collective anxiety seemed to mount. Yoshi couldn't help the scenarios running through his mind over and over, each one ending with a doctor or nurse shrieking in horror and calling Animal Control--
 "Dad."
Yoshi blinked back into reality, looking down at his youngest son, pulling at his sleeve with tears in his eyes.
"Dad, I wanna go home," Mikey whispered, leaning in close to him and sniffling a bit. "I don't wanna see the doctor."
Quite frankly, Yoshi was inclined to agree with his kid, to pick them all up and walk out right this very minute. But he suppressed the urge.
"I know, Mikey. I do not like seeing the doctor either." He admitted, scooping up the preschooler to hold in his lap. "But I promise... Dr. Davis is very nice, and, ah, I will not let them do anything bad to you... I am sure everything will be fine...!"
Before he could continue his, quite frankly, horrible pep talk, a nurse poked her head into the room from the back.
 "The Hamatos?"
  "Yo. Dad. You good?"
Yoshi paused for a moment before he returned properly back to the present day, glancing over at his sons and giving a nervous laugh, which then dissolved into a cough.
"Ah! Yes, of course! I am perfectly fine! Why wouldn't I be!" He wheezed, and his sons exchanged looks.
"Papa, honestly, it's fine. This will take ten minutes tops, and again, I assure you that neither Leo nor myself are engaging in any kind of recreational substances." Donnie said.
"Yeah! All we gotta do is piss in a cup." Leo added in. "And then we'll be all set. It's just annoying. Here, why don't you sit down, watch some Netflix or something-- I know you like Netflix-- and we'll be back in a bit, okay? Just chill."
"Right. Of course. I am... very chill." Yoshi insisted, even though he could feel his hands trembling a bit. Gah! Stupid traitor hands! Stop it!
"Surrreeee," Donnie said, taking him by the arm and slowly leading him back to the bleachers, sitting him down and patting his shoulder. "We'll be right back, alright? Nothing to worry about."
---
"Alright, you should be all set." Dr. Davis hummed pleasantly, offering a gentle smile to her latest anxious parent. "Everyone looks great! Healthy weights, nothing scary going on... We'll send you home with some literature and referral information for Donatello. I would recommend considering getting in contact with them if you can, especially since he's gonna be starting school soon, but beyond that everything looks fantastic."
"Yes-- thank you," Yoshi said, forcing a smile, shakily accepting the new stack of papers that the doctor handed over.
 Nothing had gone wrong.
Well, a few things had gone wrong. Mikey and Raphael had both cried when they got their shots. Donnie had a small meltdown after being repeatedly touched by people he didn't like. And Leo had punched a nurse in the gut for upsetting his brothers.
But their bill of health came back clean. No mentions of turtles, mutations, cold-bloodedness, or reptilian features of any kind.
They made it through. They would be okay.
"... And we'll see you back in about five weeks for their next booster series, okay? Jacklyn up front can get you all scheduled!"
Yoshi pursed his lips slightly, his mouth suddenly feeling rather dry.
 "... Ah. Yes. Of course."

The concept of buoyancy was built upon that of displacement; the idea that two different forms of matter could not occupy the same space. Archimedes once theorized that water, a liquid, would be pushed aside by a solid mass, but an object of an appropriate weight, density, or shape could ensure that the displaced weight of the water was greater than the total weight of the object, therefore ensuring it to float. This is, of course, connected to the concept of forces. Gravity is a downward force that acts upon all objects; when an object is placed in a fluid, that fluid must supply a force equal in magnitude but opposite in direction to the gravitational force for the object to float. Scientifically speaking, it was all a matter of density and mass, and every action that one took in the water, as well as every action that the water had in response, could be explained through a series of formulas and equations.
... In a non-scientific sense, however, water was safe and soft and inviting. Water would make room for you, no matter who you were or what you were doing. Once you got in, it would change itself to make exactly enough space for your body. Water was fluid and changing, soft and gentle when you moved softly, hard and firm when you moved harshly. In the water, the way you move changes. The way you see and hear changes. Perception itself shifts.
 God, Donatello loved swimming.
Even just swimming laps was great, but a race only heightened the experience, engaging every bit of his body and mind and encouraging him to push. From the moment the buzzer went off and he dived from the starting block, ( push off with your legs, you're going for distance, not for height, hands together, smooth entry point, ) to the lap down, ( head down, no breathing except for when you absolutely need to, arms go back and glide over the water-- imagine your fingertips skimming just over the surface, no unnecessary movement, just enough for the maximum propulsion forward with minimal effort, ), the turn at the wall, ( watch the floor, see the blue tile end and the white begin-- you know the math, count it out, at five you duck, chin to your chest, arms together, kick off the wall and get as much air off that sucker as you can, ) and the sprint back, ( kick from your hips, not your knees, no reserving energy, it's just a fifty, this is a ‘dash,’ so dash -- )
Every second of it he was engaged, and every second of it he adored the experience. He didn't even slow down when he approached the wall, ramming into it at full speed and using his outstretched hands to stop himself and trigger the timer that stopped the clock. They didn't have to worry about slowing down. They wouldn't run into anything. Their own hands and the water would catch them.
Sucking in ragged breaths, he looked to his left, and then he looked to his right. Leo was right behind him, but as he glanced up at the display board on the wall to check his time, he grinned widely. He had more than a five-second lead over him. More than enough to qualify for Regionals-- not that he had been worried. Leo was well within the range as well, just as expected. The three of them always went to Regionals. And Donnie was quite pleased to note that the kid from Lane 4, the child, he and Leo had deduced, of the woman who demanded they be tested, was significantly behind the two of them. Sure, his time was good enough to qualify for Regionals, too...
But it wasn't anywhere near as good as theirs. Haha. Suck it.
One by one, all of the racers joined him at the end of the lane, bobbing about in the water and holding onto the pool edge or the lane lines, everyone out of breath and filled with adrenaline. He shook the hands of his two lane neighbors, congratulating both of them on a race well run, and once the referee blew his whistle, he clambered out of the water, hoisting himself up back onto dry land and moving to rejoin his twin.
"Killed it." Leo said, though breathlessly, ("if you're not struggling to breathe by the end of a race, you're not doing it right," their coach often said,) offering a fistbump, which Donnie reciprocated.
"As expected." He said, grinning wide as the two of them made their way back to the bleachers.
"Leo! Donnie! Nice!" Raph called as they approached, tossing them each a towel to wrap around themselves, each beginning to dry themselves off, peeling goggles and swim caps off their heads. "Good time! But, uh, what was with the--?"
"Some lady made us do a drug test," Leo explained, waving a hand as if to dismiss Raph's concerns. "It was dumb, we both passed, it's all good now. Just annoying."
"A drug test?! Seriously?!" Raph said, scoffing loudly. And admittedly, Raphala was no stranger to similar situations. Donnie recalled he had been accused of taking steroids or faking his age more than once in his various sporting exploits, but it typically wasn't taken as far as to actually test him. Donnie thought, vaguely, that he was almost surprised that Raph wasn't subject to the same treatment as he and Leo were today, but he supposed it did make at least a bit of sense. Raph was big-- he was tall and visibly muscular and powerful. People looked at him and expected him to excel in athletics.
He and Leo? Not so much. Leo was only 5'5", and he himself barely passed 5'3" without his boots, much to his annoyance. They were both lean and clearly athletically inclined, sure, but they were both much smaller and slimmer than their older brother was. People looked at them and were often surprised by their respective sporting resumes. Especially him.
"Yes, yes, it was an unfortunate waste of everyone's time." Donnie agreed. "But to no one's surprise, it came back completely spotless, and we were able to proceed without issue and completely destroy absolutely everyone, in your face Karen, thank you very much."
"Is that why Dad's been freaking out?" Raph asked after a moment, raising a brow. Donnie followed his eyes to steal a glance over at their father on the other side of the pool, looking much better than he had before they received their test results, (both he and Leo offering him thumbs up from across the way once they had been cleared, and watching him sag with relief,) but still seemed a bit shaky.
"Yeah," Leo said, wrinkling his nose. "I thought he was gonna pass out for a second there when we told him. He was sweating so much, it was disgusting."
"He doesn't seriously think you guys' would come back positive or anything, does he?" Raph scoffed, frowning a bit, and Leo shook his head.
"Nah, I don't think so. But you know how scared he is of doctors."
---
Dad always got like this whenever they had an appointment.
'This' meaning, of course, 'Visibly and overwhelmingly anxious and frightened, absolutely filled with dread and horror.'
They were all kind of used to it by now.
When they were little, it would sort of freak them out, because every time they had to go to the doctor, he had to come with them, and he'd be in a state of near-panic the whole time. And if Dad was freaking out, then they should probably be freaking out too, right? Looking back, Leo recognized that he was always trying to hide it, but quite frankly, he did a pretty shit job at it. Now that they had gotten a bit older, however, collectively exiting elementary school years to enter junior high, they more-or-less recognized that Dad's doctor-induced panic was really more of a personal thing, and not necessarily something that they needed to worry about themselves. Leo still didn't really like the doctor, and he kind of doubted he ever would, but he wouldn't really categorize himself as 'afraid' any longer.
 Their Dad? Not so much.
The four of them had been long aware of the little note on the calendar in the kitchen, the sacred piece of literature that controlled all their lives, dictating that at four o'clock on this date, their dear father would be summoned to the doctor's office. And they knew that, of course, like he did every time, he would totally freak out. And, just as predicted, he had been an anxious mess all day, pacing around the house, mumbling nonsense to himself, (something about them being ‘onto him’ and ‘rat blood’ and other completely meaningless jibber-jabber.)
But this time, they had a plan. They absolutely could not continue to watch him like this. Everyone was in place. Leo looked across the living room, nodding to Raph. Raph glanced at Donnie, who checked his watch, and likewise nodded an affirmative. Mikey put down his sketchbook, getting to his feet, and the four of them, following his cue, fell into step with each other and filed into the kitchen.
Mission: Save Daddy From the Horrors was a go.
"Hey Dad," Mikey began, wrapping an arm around his shoulder and leaning into him slightly. Raph, at the same time, got to work preparing a pot of tea-- Donnie fetched the cream, Leo was on sugar duty. "So, we were thinking. Maybe we could come with you this afternoon?"
Their father startled slightly, immediately moving to glare at Mikey with suspicious eyes. "What?! Come with me? Why would you want to come with me to a doctor's appointment?"
"Well, we were just thinking, it might be a nice, uh... family outing!" Raphael offered with a shrug, chuckling nervously and looking to the side. "And maybe we could, I dunno, get frozen yogurt on the way back?"
"And we could watch that game show you like on the way over. With the mystery shrimp?" Donnie suggested.
"Plus, I mean, I've been meaning to get some acting tips from you? Not that I need them, obviously, but..." Leo added, placing a cup into his father's hands as he narrowed his eyes.
"... You boys are... up to something..." Dad mumbled, looking between the four of them with a slight frown.
"Up to something? No! Of course not!" Raph insisted, and Mikey placed a hand on their father's shoulder.
"We just want to spend more quality time with you! As a family! Don't you want to spend time with us, your loving sons?" He questioned, batting his eyes. "Plus, we can get frozen yogurt! We know how much you love frozen yogurt, right?"
"Yeah, what they said," Donnie said.
"Pleaseeeee?" Leo went in for the kill, offering a dramatic pout, poking his lower lip out as far as it could possibly go. Mikey joined in shortly, combining their powers to reach near-dangerous levels of puppy-dog-eyes.
"... I suppose... If you really would like to..."
Score. They were in. Goal: minimize anxiety and get their dad home from the doctor's office in one piece for a change. And if they got some frozen yogurt in the process? What was the harm in that? As far as Leo was concerned, so long as they could manage to get their Dad through this appointment without totally freaking out, that'd be a win. And, if things went well, it would be that much easier to convince him to allow them to accompany him to future appointments, too.
---
The rest of the swim meet went about as expected. Donnie easily got the best times in every event he participated in, and all three of them, plus a couple of their teammates, made it into the upcoming Regionals. Trophies and ribbons were given out in the end, which they had all immediately passed on to their father, ‘cause he was more excited about them than they were and would surely figure out a way to find space for at least some of them at home. Raph physically wrestled an ancient Twix bar out of Leo's hands, and once his little brother finally cried for mercy and swore to leave Candy Locker alone for the remainder of the trip, he unpinned him from the ground and allowed him to get back up. Normal stuff.
It wasn't until the train ride home that things got kind of weird.
About fifteen minutes in Leo started giving him these looks. Looks that said, ' go on, say something.' So Raph started giving Leo ' no, you say something ' looks. After some back and forth, they both tried to give Donnie looks, but Donnie completely ignored them in every sense of the word, pointedly refusing to look up from his phone as he discussed the process of coding artificial intelligence to their dad, who clearly didn't understand anything they were saying, but to his credit, was doing his best to nod along.
After losing a silent game of rock-paper-scissors played at knee-level, just outside of their father's field of vision, Raph cleared his throat, leaning over slightly.
"Sooo, Pops... You been... sleeping okay?"
"Hm? Oh, yes! You know I am always out like a light after my before-bed snack!" Dad replied easily with a chuckle, and Raph frowned, ‘cause he could tell just by looking at him that that was a lie.
"Uh-huh. Right." Leo scoffed, not buying it. "That's crazy. Because, no offense, but you look kind of like garbage. And like you haven't so much as touched a pillow in, like... ever."
This immediately earned him a smack to his forehead.
"Garbage?! I will have you know that I was voted Hollywood's ‘Sexiest Action Film Star’ five years in a row! No respect!"
Leo whined loudly, rubbing his forehead and mumbling "ew," under his breath, but Raph knew it was all for show. Dad's infamous ‘Karate Chops’ never actually hurt. Though it could be that Leo was more hurting from the psychological damage of hearing their father refer to himself as ‘sexy’ than anything else...
"I concur-- ew. And as fascinating as this factoid that you've cursed us with is, father, it doesn't really address the fact that you've clearly not been sleeping." Donnie remarked, still not looking up from his phone screen. Raph knew he was listening, though. He wasn't typing, no video was playing. He was fully engaged with the conversation. Just needed his barrier.
"Yeah, if anyone is qualified to identify an insomniac, it's me!" Leo added in.
"What we're trying to say is," Raph jumped in, hands held out and a nervous smile on his face, "Is just, uh. That we're a little worried about you, Pops. I mean. You've seemed kind of, uh, out of it... since..."
"Since that thing with Mikey." Leo helpfully supplied, crossing his arms over his chest.
Raph noted the slight twitch in his Dad's left eye.
"What thing with Mikey?" Dad feigned.
"Uh, the thing where he started a fire in his room? That thing? Ringing any bells?" Leo pressed, with a tone and a look that said 'yeah, nice try.'
"Oh, yes. That." Their dad said, waving a hand dismissively. "We have already discussed this, boys. The important thing is that Mikey was not hurt, and Purple, I know you are upset because you are not allowed to start fires anymore--"
"It's not about Mikey, Dad," Raph interjected. "It's about you! You've just... you've been acting... weird! And it's been nearly a week now! And-- and if something's goin' on, we wanna know!"
"Nothing is going on." Their father immediately denied. "I already told you all. That was simply a freak accident, and it is not anything worth worrying about. I am fine! It is nothing you need to concern yourselves with."
"Dad, come on. There's obviously something bothering you!" Raph pushed a little harder, despite the anxiety bubbling up in his stomach, feeling like a soda can in a washing machine. "We just wanna help. Come on, don't you trust us--"
"Enough." This time it was Dad who interrupted, his voice harder now, firm and definite. Raph flinched slightly. "I already said it is none of your concern. I am fine. I am perfectly capable of handling this, and I do not want any of you involved!"
Raph opened his mouth like he was going to say something, but was surprised to find that there were no words. So he closed it again. He glanced over at Leo and Donnie, but they had about the same expressions on their faces as him.
"Please, Red." He heard the sigh in his father's voice, and he sounded softer now, tired even, and placed a hand on Raph’s shoulder. Raph glanced downwards, his eyes following all the knobs in his father’s fingers, the wrinkles in his knuckles. He didn't want to look at his face, because he knew that if he did, he would see him as an elderly man rather than Dad. He hated it when that happened, when he fell into that headspace... Just seeing people as people, just looking at them for exactly what they were, with all the familiarity and memories stripped away from them. "Just let me take care of this. I have everything under control."
Raph frowned a bit, not entirely sure if he believed him.
"We have a good life, Raphael. I need you to let me keep it that way." He said. "And to trust me enough not to get involved. Please."
He didn't look at Leo or Donnie this time. Something in his gut was screaming at him that this wasn't the move. The words Dad was picking here felt... off. But the way his voice sounded... He swallowed thickly, and then slowly nodded.
"Yeah. Okay, Dad. We trust you."
Far beneath the city, below the concrete, below the subways, below even the sewers, the world eventually became city again-- Hidden below the oblivious humans above. At the edge of this city, a small vine grew from the soil, slow and silent, just at the seam of a brick wall. Ever-so-carefully, the vine grew and expanded, pushing itself upward, dark and veiled in violet veins.
The vine pressed itself up against the stone wall, curling unnaturally upward, and a bit of stone cracked in response, falling away to the soil below.
 The vine pushed further.

a/n: here to feed your delusions once again. this one could be a two parter if anyone is interested. let me know :)
summary: drunk words are sober thoughts
word count: 1032
warnings: drunk will, mention of girlfriend and drinking, an appropriate amount of angst
- - -
It was hard; being his best friend right now. Every night for the past month or so around 12:30 am you’d get a call. Most of the time he just wanted to talk about his stream, how many viewers he had that night, what he’d done. Other times he asked you to come over. Those were the nights he hadn’t streamed. The ones he reserved to go out with Tommy and you. He’d always cancel plans about an hour before you’d meet - give some lame excuse about how his girlfriend wanted to stay in or he had to edit a video. Those were the calls you were dreading because you knew how you’d find him when you went to visit.
It was 2:49 am, this night. Your phone lit up with a photo of you two in central London you’d taken months ago, before he started dating this girl, but just after he broke up with the last one. Your eyes barely opened to make sure it was a call worth answering, but since it was him, you rolled onto your side and tapped the green button.
“Will, are you alright? It’s late.”
“She left me.” He mumbled, the wine or beer he had certainly been drinking almost seeped through the phone screen. “She left angry and texted me to say we were done.”
“Can I come over?” You were already slipping on shoes. A blurry ‘yes’ came through the speakers and you left your flat. Thankfully he was only around the block, and you kept him talking as you sped to him. “I’m here, come let me in.”
“It’s open. I’m up in the bedroom.” He spoke through the phone, sounding a little more aware than he had only ten minutes ago. It calmed the worry in your gut a bit, but the fact he’d left his doors unlocked while he was inebriated kept the knot in your stomach tight. Once you were inside you hung up the phone and shouted up to him.
“I’m just taking off my shoes!” carefully lining them up next to his - where her’s would normally be. You could hear a little shuffling upstairs but nothing that added to your concern. That is until you heard glass hit and shatter on the floor. You almost slipped as you raced up - soft socks and hardwood stairs not a good mix. “Will?”
“I’m ok.” He shouted from his room. “-is just my glass.” He was sprawled across his bed, arm outstretched to reach the table that had an open bottle of wine and now cup-less coaster. At least he cared for his furniture. His hair stuck to his forehead and you could tell he hadn’t gotten up in at least 8 hours, the blankets around him flattened from his long stay in bed.
“You’re not hurt?”
“Physically, no. Emotionally?” He smashed his face further into his pillows instead of answering.
“How much have you had to drink tonight?” You ask, carefully picking up the largest pieces of glass shards that had scattered across the floor. You grimaced at the small spots of red that had spattered on the light walls, making a mental note to clean it up when he was feeling better.
“We were drinking a bit at dinner. Something red that she’d wanted.” He curled his long body into himself as he recounted the evening's events. Wilbur was a sad drunk, but also a chatty one, so his story went on for a few minutes while you finished cleaning the glass. His eyes followed you as you moved about the room and he pulled his head up a bit once his story was finished.
Once the mess was cleaned, or at least the sharp shards put into the trash, you sat yourself by the edge of his bed and leaned your head in close to his. “How can I help you, Will?” You whispered to the man. He shrugged so you offered a few options. “Do you want me to make you something to eat? Maybe while you shower and sober up a bit?”
“I’ll shower but will you just sit outside? I don’t think I wanna be alone right now.” He whispered the last bit. You nodded and helped him up. Once he was sitting on the edge of the bed, you standing in front of him, he wrapped his long arms around your waist and tucked his head into your stomach. Your hand pulled his head in, running your fingers through his hair.
“We’ll get through it. I know we will.” You spoke as he clung to you. “And hey, this means Lovejoy will get some really good songs after this, huh?” You teased as he pulled away. That put a smile on his face as he stood and lumbered to the bathroom. You took your place on the floor near the bathroom door and listened as Will rambled about whatever had happened on his last stream. You could hear the water hitting the floor as he washed his hair. Soon enough he was out and changed, pulling you into another hug.
“Better?” You asked him and he let out a deep breath.
“Yeah. Definitely still drunk though.” He mumbled into your hair. “Will you stay with me?”
“Do you think I have anything better to do at three in the morning?”
“Maybe.” He shrugged and pulled you into the bed with him. Once you got comfy he arranged his long limbs over you, resembling a starfish. A longboard sigh left his lungs as he nuzzled a little into his pillow. You realized at this moment this isn’t what best friends do. Best friends don’t cuddle or wait for the other to get out of the shower. Will’s breath steadied next to you as your mind began to swirl with thoughts as to what could cause that girl to leave such a soft and sweet man.
“It wasn’t ‘cause of me, was it? The argument I mean.” You asked into the dark room, expecting an answer. Instead, you heard a quiet snore and realized that Will had fallen asleep, head tucked into your neck. Guess that conversation will have to happen tomorrow.

That stuff about "these two people are close, they're secretly in love"? That shit doesn't just happen to famous people or anything like that, this stuff actively happens all around. I had this classmate of mine, right? And we were on this school trip together where we would spend 5 nights on an island. Pretty neat graduation trip.
Well, it was pretty neat until the FINAL DAY of the trip where everyone ended up making a little circle to spread gossip, and guess what the gossip was about? That classmate of mine. And it was that she was "secretly in love with her friend"
The things that were said were just ACTUALLY VILE. Not only because what they were was outrageous, but because she was already dating a boy. And her friend, who she was friends with ever since childhood, was also dating a girl by the way.
They said stuff about how they both were sleeping in the same room on the trip sometimes, about how they trusted each other and were ""touchy"", about him carrying her bag for her when she went to the bathroom in the show. They started even saying stuff "Poor girl, she probably doesn't even realize she's in love".
I was appalled. And I voiced it, too. This isn't how you talk about your classmate, they're just friends. None of what you said was evidence of ANYTHING. But I was shut down from saying anything else because "You've never been in a relationship, you wouldn't know like we do". Now this... this made my blood boil. Not only for me, but for my classmate.
I then left the circle that they formed on the other side of the room and pretended to take out my phone and mess with it, but I was secretly just recording the stuff they were saying. When they eventually left, I was freaking out because "How the fuck do I even show this to her? What if they ostracize me from the group after they make up with each other?"
I eventually figured that the right thing would be to show this to her and her friend. They were my classmates too, after all. This is just unfair. And it's the last day we, as a class, are going to be spending together... so what could go wrong, really?
The friend of hers was on the bathroom inside of the room at the time when she, by some miracle, came in to get him and knocked on the bathroom door. I just went up and locked the room to not have anyone else come in while we talked. I explained to her the things they were saying, and said I would send her more stuff and explain more clearly through messages.
Worst part after this was that the trip organizers were doing a presentation right afterwards where you had to hug every classmate of yours as a goodbye... and uh... that was awkward. And she cried during that, too. It was too fucking sad to watch.
After that, I went to my room to wait until further things happened... which was fated to happen at that point.
I was called my other classmate, one of two, who burst into the room and said that we had stuff to talk about in the girl's room. Well, she gave a wallop to everyone that participated in the circle, to say the least. "How DARE you talk like that about your classmate?! On the LAST day of the trip, the last time we're going to see each other??? She's just begun dating the guy, it's her first relationship and you do this to her?"
Well... eventually, everyone who participated in the circle either left to get pissy about it while everyone else [like, 2 of the boys in the circle of the three I was sleeping with] apologized for not standing up for what was happening. We ended up talking about how much had happened in our time during school, what we were going to do after graduating, etc.
It was actually rather pleasant, at the end of the day. We stayed up until 4 AM talking about stuff, getting drunk, laughing. Comforting the girl about what had happened until she slept.
Uh... where was I going with this?
Amatonormativity, specifically about who you're ALLOWED to be close with, sucks - is what I'm trying to say. But when people group up and stand up against it? That's the best thing that can happen, and what we should strive for.
But... like, I also wonder... if they weren't already dating other people, would it have been the same? How many friendship are drifted apart just because people think you're "perfect for each other" or "too close with one another"? That part still troubles me, but I'm glad it was a happy ending.
I totally get it. I wasn't saying it only happens to famous people, I was just bringing it up as a very prominent example of something I noticed. It happened to me and my best friend, people we knew started assuming we were dating cause we click really well and hang out a lot. Overall I just think it's really weird when people insist they know better about the nature of two people's relationship. How it looks from an outside perspective is irrelevant

“At the end of the day I wish we weren’t impossible”
-Y/n Pov-
Chris finally texted me to start getting ready because they were going to pick her up to head over to Mcdonald’s and try the Grimace Shake. I had found it extremely stupid to go try this purple drink knowing that this can give her a horrible headache. I wore a gray tank top with blue sweatpants and her ultra mini uggs. As I walked to the living to turn off my lights I hear a loud ass honk meaning that they were here. I quickly turned off everything and opened my front door as I see the mini van. As I walk towards them I already know where I sit which is behind Chris and next to Nick.
“Hi” I said as I close the door.
“Hey” I hear Matt mumble but loud enough for me to hear as he pulls away to Mcdonald’s.
“Hi”I hear Chris saw as he turns his body around so he could see me.
“Thank you thank you for coming with us to try the Grimace Shake” Nick told me.
“Yea don’t worry and either way I haven’t seen you guys in a long time”I say as I unlock my phone.
“Are you excited to try the Grimce Shake” I hear Chris ask
“No not really because it’s purple and looks disgusting”I announce
“Well you’re going to try it”Chris says as he passes me the aux.
-At Mcdonald’s-
“We would like to order four Grimace Shakes please”Matt tells the worker in the drive through
“Okay four Grimace Shakes will that be all?”
The worker asked
“Yes that will be all”
“Your total will be $15.56 have a nice day”
“Thank you, you too”
As Matt pulls up to the window to pay and get the shakes Chris was acting all excited like a little kid the day before Christmas.
“You concern me Chris” I say as I look at him
“Really?” He says with a shock tone
“Mhm I just feel like the last child always comes out the most fucked up one”
“WHAT NO!”
“I’m just assuming”
“Don’t talk to me that’s why you came out only child”
“Okay?”
“Stop bickering it’s annoying” I hear Nick say as he turns on the camera to pan at Matt getting the shakes.
-Time Skip-
I wasn’t in the video because of their fans always having something against me for being friends with them which I found so silly. But it wasn’t only me they also Madi it’s not her fault that her mom is the triplets manager.
“EW THIS IS DISGUSTING” I exclaim as i go to the sink to rinse my mouth.
“No it’s not”I hear Chris say as he takes another sip.
“It’s not bad when you give it a few sips but wait until it sets in your throat” I say as I continue rising my mouth.
After a while I agreed that this grimace was DISGUSTING. I was eating one of their popsicles to take that flavor away because I could still taste it and I was complaining too much on how they shouldn’t have made me try this drink. I was mindlessly scrolling through my phone watching tiktok’s as I chuckle at some and just scroll for some. I feel the couch sink down as I look next to me and see Chris sitting down with a popsicle and his phone as well.
“You see it has a bad after taste”I stated.
“It kinda does”Chris says as he try’s not to agree with me.
“I’m just saying, you could just admit that I was right about this shake”
“It wasn’t that bad”
“But it was”
“You’re being over dramatic”
“Nuh uh. I know people would agree with me”
“Yea sure”
It got silent after our ‘discussion’ but from that point to the whole night it was just tiktok or instagram audios playing on each other phones. As I was on instagram and see Nicks story posting about The Versus Tour.
“You excited for tour again?”I ask as I swipe out of instagram.
“Hm?”Chris mumbles.
“Tour. You. Excited?”
“Oh yeah I am excited”
“You are going to fill me what happens and who wins every show”
“Wait.”
“What.”
“You aren’t going?”
When Chris asks me this I stay quiet I didn’t know how to tell him I wasn’t going. I have mentioned it to both Nick and Matt but they both know that Chris would be bummed out.
“Why aren’t you going?”
“Chris listen. I need to finish remodeling my house I can’t have an unfinished kitchen much longer. I already cancelled on this guy two times”
“Can’t you get it remodeled before the tour”
“No…. He isn’t in LA right now”
“Just this time please”
“Ok let’s say I do what am I going to do?”
“You are going to be there to support me-along with Nick and Matt. Do they know?”
“Yea.”
“It’s like your hiding things from me not even from Nick or Matt”
“Chris, I told them because they would understand”
“And I wouldn’t? What are you implying y/n”
“I’m not implying nothing,I simply told you how I’m not going”
“And why.”
“First of all if this is a versus tour it’s only going to be in between you,Matt, and Nick second your fans seem butt hurt that I’m friends with you and lastly there’s no point it’s not like the other tour where Trilly and Nate went”
“But I want you to go. You were kinda the one who gave Nick the idea to make it as competition. And those are some fans who don’t like you but that one them but the rest do so I don’t think they would mind.Last thing is that we all wanted to go traveling in high
school to Seattle.”
“If I just I’ll think about it will you not make it a big deal?”
“I guess”
“Yes or no?”
“Ok fine yes. But don’t make it last minute”
“Ok I won’t”
That was one conversation I didn’t think Chris would be reacting like this but I didn’t want to put more onto this so I just put a simple end to it. I saw the time and it was already 11 god it was late. Both Nick and Matt were in their rooms and I could hear Nick laughing along with Madi.
“It’s late I should get going”I say quietly.
“You sure you don’t want to stay?”
“Nono it’s fine,I don’t want to seem like a bother”
“How are you a bother we have known you for your whole life”
“I miss my bed though”
“You do really enjoy sleeping”
“Who doesn’t.”
“I’m not even going to answer that. Just get home safely ok?”
“I’m not a bad driving and I’m aware of my surroundings”
I started to put on my uggs back on and grabbing my keys and my phone which I already had. I walked over to the front door. Before I left and turned around.
“Tell Nick and Matt that I said goodnight please”
“I will”
“Okay thank you”
“Text me when you get home?”
“Okayyy I will”
“Bye goodnight”
“Night”
From that I had gotten into my car and obviously connected my spotify to my bluetooth and it started to play ‘Show Me Your Mind’ I always loved at song it was perfect for the night. I hummed along to the beat of the song as I waited for the red light to get to a green light. I put my window down to feel the cool breeze it was no e weather here in LA sometimes…….list sometimes because one day it can feel like one million degrees and the others it feel like Antarctica. Couple of minutes of driving I finally spot my house I park my car in the driveway and I go inside my house it felt lonely someway but I don’t know why. I put my keys on the random clay tray that I made like 3 years ago when it was a trend never found a use of it until now. I then after slipped of my uggs as I go to my room that the lords the I cleaned it in the morning. I was too lazy to do anything so I slipped of my sweat pants and switched it out with some shorts along with my shirt I had put on a hoodie. I was exhausted my body was physically asleep but I had to do two more things before I could fall asleep. Brush my teeth and my skincare. Finally I finished my hygiene routine which felt like eternity I made it to my bed. I got under the sheets and I was ready to get some rest. But as I was falling asleep all I could think of was what Chris was telling me. This felt like a life or death choice but I had like one month to think about it which I didn’t except to fly by.

On The Other Line - Part 2
Tumblr media
here is pt 2 for this post.
warnings: angst and sadness, a boisterous argument, delco in general, also maybe...happiness?
+++
All I've ever wanted to feel was like I was wanted. In fact, it was all I needed. To feel like someone needed me in their life.
After Colin and I went on those few dates, he didn't contact me at all. I made no effort either. I felt weird, like he wasn't really that into me, and I guessed I was right.
Days of radio silence went by, making me feel crazy. I replayed everything in my head and saw no reason why he'd ghost me, besides him being a nauseating asshole.
I wracked my brain alone in my apartment, pacing back and forth. It was late. Around 12:30 am. I couldn't sleep at all. I had work the next day and desperately needed sleep. Nothing was helping. It got to the point that no waking moment of mine was not plagued by thoughts of him, so I decided to do something about it.
I mustered the courage to call him. I was perched on the edge of my bed, phone to my ear, biting my thumb nail in anticipation. The line rang a few times before he picked up.
'Uh, Y/N?' he answered, sounding flustered.
'Zabel, can I talk to you?' I replied, trying to sound as unbothered as possible.
'Yeah, sorry, one sec. Let me just hang up with the person I have on the other line,' he said.
The other line? Why did he not hang up with them before picking up my call? I thought. Moments of silence went by, accompanied by rustling that I presumed was Colin trying to figure out how to hang up the other call, then a voice.
'Colin?' a female voice asked. I froze. My stomach dropped. 'Did you get off your call with your lil' girlfriend from the other day? Are you still trying to make me jealous?'
'Fu- Mare! Uh, just- one second, please!' Colin stammered.
Mare. The woman from the park the other day. He must have merged our calls instead of hanging up with her. Tears immediately sprang to my eyes. My chest balled up tightly into a knot. I didn't dare say a word. Instead, I removed the phone from my ear, stunned.
'Y/N? Y/N?' Colin called out from the phone in my lap. Numbly I pressed the red button in the middle of my phone's screen, hanging up on him. I let my phone slip out of my hands and clatter onto the floor. It buzzed almost immediately. A text from Colin.
One text soon became twelve, then twenty. He tried to call me again. I watched the activity unfold on my phone on the floor from the safety of my bed. Maybe if I don't move this isn't real. I thought. I let this guy fuck me, and it was all for revenge.
I was so embarrassed, so humiliated, and so hurt by it all. After a few minutes of feeling immense pain in my chest and letting tears sting my eyes, I finally caved and grabbed my phone.
'Y/N, please, I can explain.'
'I'm going to call you, can you pick up?'
'I'm so sorry. I really fucked up.'
The messages felt so insincere knowing the true intent behind his sudden interest in me. My insecurity got the best of me, though. I needed to see him one last time. I unlocked my phone and opened his messages. I needed to tell him what a bastard he was. I needed to make him see my pain.
'I'll be behind the library tomorrow at lunchtime if you'd like to talk.'
I sent it and threw my phone onto my dresser. I didn't check it for the rest of the night. It buzzed about 20 more times but I just laid on my back and stared at the wall until sleep's dark embrace captured me.
+
The hours at work, until we met, were agonizingly long. My mind was racing through all of the things I wanted to say. I was so hurt by him, I just wanted to lose it.
At around noon I walked out of the back door of the library. I squinted at the bright light of the sun, stepping out into reality. It was time to tell him how I felt.
He was already there. Early, as always. He wore this look on his face. Remorse, or something. It disgusted me.
'Y/N,' he breathed, putting his hands in his coat pockets.
It was bitterly cold outside. It was the kind of wind that stung your face when it blew. You could see our breath as we spoke.
'Fuck you, Colin,' I declared, rounding on him. 'What am I? A fucking pawn to you? This shit only fucking happens in movies, yet I'm living it. You astound me.' I threw my hands in the air in exasperation.
'Okay, I deserved that,' he muttered.
'What kind of low-life uses a person like this? You seriously make me sick. I can't believe I actually started falling for you,' I shouted.
His expression went from one of sadness to one of shock.
'You what?' he said, bewildered.
'Oh fucking stop with that,' I spat, 'I know you don't feel the same.'
'Please, Y/N, will you let me speak?' he pleaded. I raised my hands up, palms facing him, giving him the floor. 'I'll admit it. I went out with you to make Mare jealous. The night we met, at the bar, I had just been on a date with her. But Y/N, she really hurt me that night. It was a horrible time. She was so...horrible to me, I don't know. I wanted to hurt her.'
I scoffed. 'Oh great, so it's true, you fucking asshole.'
'No but- Y/N, here's the thing. When I met you, you lit up my life. For a brief moment, I could see a whole, beautiful future with you,' he professed. 'Yes, my intentions weren't pure, but I really, really like you. You are so amazing. Unique, funny, pretty. Your light is bright. You amaze me. And maybe I'm scared of that. Maybe I backed away, used the thing with Mare as a barrier between us so I wouldn't fall in love. But I sure as hell feel like I am, and I'm sorry, but I'm scared.'
My angry expression softened. I unclenched my fists and set my jaw, holding back tears.
'I'm so sorry. I am. I'm so not worthy of you,' he added.
A fat tear rolled down my cheek and I lurched toward him, wrapping him in a rib-cracking-strength hug.
He relaxed into my touch, sighing loudly. 'Y/N, you're so lovely.'
'Just shut up and kiss me, Zabel,' I breathed and planted my lips firmly on his.
And so he did. We embraced behind the library for what felt like hours. My head nestled firmly on his chest, reveling in the warmth it provided. He kissed me on the top of my head.
'I mean it, Y/N. I really think you're my forever. So let's give this a try. Please?'
I nodded, fully believing that he may be my forever, too.

This ask was so fun to write! And guess what? Epilogue coming soon. Possibly even tonight...

Regrets Part 2
Summary- After you left your apartment you spent the day with Clay to keep your mind off of your argument with Urban. Eventually you tell Clay everything, and he gives you advice before you go back home. Clay calls Urban and tells him his thoughts on your relationship from his perspective. Once you get home you and Urban have a conversation about your relationship where you both admit your faults in your relationship.
Word Count- 3.1K
A/N- I'm so glad everyone liked part 1 so much. I hope you all like part 2 also. Part 1 linked in my masterlist.
Tumblr media
After you left you drove around a little bit before ending up at Clay’s hotel. Usually, he would stay in your apartment, but this time he decided to get a hotel since he was going to be in town longer, which you couldn’t have been anymore thankful of.
You parked your car before grabbing your phone, finding Clay’s contact before calling him and waiting for him to answer.
“Hey.” Clay answered.
“Hi, are you at your hotel?” You asked Clay.
“Yeah, I am, why?”
“Can I come over?”
“Of course, are you okay?” Clay asked you, concerned why you were suddenly asking to come over.
“Good, because I’m in the parking lot.” You said, laughing softly. “I’m okay, Urban and I just got into a fight, and I just wanted to get away for a little bit. I’ll explain later, I just want to get my mind off it for a little bit, if you already had plans that’s okay.”
“Yeah, come up and we’ll think of something.” Clay told you and you both said goodbye before hanging up, you got out of your car walking into the hotel and up to Clay’s room.
After a few minutes the two of you decided to just walk around the city for a little bit, catching each other up on things that have happened in your lives. Other than the Urban situation of course, as curious as Clay was, he wasn’t going to bring it up at the moment. Hanging out with Clay did take your mind of things, he was one of your best friends after all.
Eventually you and Clay decided to get lunch at some random restaurant you had passed by. You both sat across from each other, after ordering your food, Clay finally decided to ask you about what happened that morning.
“So, what happened this morning?” Clay asked you, you sighed softly.
“Urban and I got in a fight about last night. He claimed he didn’t know what he did wrong until I told him. Then he claimed he wasn’t flirting and that he didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Haven’t you talked to him about it before?” Clay asked and you nodded.
“Yeah, I have, I’ve tried to at least but it always leads to an argument. He tried to defend himself by saying that I have guys come up to me sometimes, but I don’t blame him for their flirting, I just feel like he encourages it sometimes.” You explained and Clay nodded.
“You don’t pay attention to other guys like Urban pays attention to other girls though. I’ve watched you both, you reject them and walk away, Urban starts a conversation with them.” Clay agreed with you.
“He tried to say it was okay because he didn’t take their numbers so apparently, I can’t be upset. He can buy them drinks, let them dance on him, flirt with him, touch them, and who knows how long that continued after we left, but it’s all okay because he didn’t get their numbers.” Clay sighed.
“I don’t think Urban would ever do something like that to you, I know that doesn’t make it any better, but I don’t think Urban would ever cheat on you, I think he just doesn’t realize how other people take his personality.”
“Yeah, I didn’t think he would either.” You said and Clay looked at you confused.
“Didn’t think he would?” Clay asked you and you sighed before you took a drink, leaning back in your seat.
“I asked him where he draws the line of being nice, and if that was when he fucks one of them. Then he said he should have since he’s apparently being accused of it.” You explained and Clay rolled his eyes slightly.
“Do you think he meant it?”
“I- I don’t know.” You sighed. “Part of me does, that’s not something you say randomly, it has to come from somewhere, but the other part of me doesn’t think he meant it. I don’t think he would do it even if he meant it. I wasn’t even accusing him doing that though, so I guess that’s just why I’m confused.” You said and both of you sat in silence for a moment, Clay could tell you wanted to say something else, but he wasn’t going to push it.
“Is it my fault in the first place for expecting him to change? I mean, his flirty personality is the reason we started talking too, I should have known that wasn’t going to change.” You finally said and Clay sighed softly.
“It’s not your fault at all. I mean I don’t think you can expect him to change completely, because yes, he is a naturally flirty person, but I think you can expect him to understand that, and tone it back in certain situations. The difference is that when he met you, he was single. It would be different if you were asking him to not talk to other girls ever, but you’re not. All you are asking is for Urban to realize how other people might take his actions and not feed into that.” Clay said and you nodded.
“I just don’t want to argue with him about it anymore. It’s really the only thing we’ve argued about but every time it just gets worse and worse. How much worse can it get? I don’t want to end up hating him, or end up with him hating me, and right now that’s the only thing I see happening unless one of us ends our relationship now. I don’t want to do that, but I think if our relationship continues like this it’s going to end anyways.”
“I think you two should sit down and talk about it. Like actually talk, don’t get anyone else involved, not while you’re already upset, give yourself time to calm down first and it will go smoother. That’s the only way to guarantee that Urban won’t say something he might not mean, and you won’t feel like you’re overreacting or it’s your fault.”
“I said things I regret.” You told Urban.
“What did you say that you regret?” Clay asked you.
“I told him that I felt like he doesn’t care about me and that he should go fuck the girls from last night after his comment. Then I told him if his actions don’t match his words when he says he wants to marry me, that I’ll find someone else who will act like they want to marry me.”
“Do you feel like Urban doesn’t care about you?” Clay asked.
“I mean, sometimes, but I know he does, or I guess I think he does. I know everything isn’t going to be perfect but it’s like when we’re good, we’re great, but when we fight everything goes to shit and one of us storms off and I go to you and Urban goes to Jack instead of us talking to each other about it, and then we just act like nothing happened.”
“Talk to him, the worst that can happen is you to both decide to break up, but at least it’s not during some big fight, or you two can make up, figure things out, and be happy again, but that’s not going to happen if you keep ignoring your problems unless you’re arguing.”
“What do I tell him?” You asked Clay.
“Tell him what you’ve told me, the best thing to do is be honest about how you feel.”
“Okay, I will.” You smiled softly at Clay.
As you and Clay finished your lunch you decided to continue hanging out with him for a few more hours before you decided to go home. You didn’t want to, but you knew you had to face Urban eventually, though you did delay it as long as possible by taking the long way home.
Little did you know, once you had left, Clay had called Urban. He wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but he knew had to talk to Urban before you got to him. Urban answered Clay’s phone call in a panic.
“Is she with you? She stormed out and hasn’t responded to a single call or text since she left.” Urban asked as he paced around the living room, you had each other’s locations on, and he was about to just show up to where it said you were just to make sure you we’re okay.
“She was, she just left.” Clay told him, Urban instantly letting out the breath he was holding.
“Fuck, I was so worried.” Urban told him, running his hands through his hair.
“Look.” Clay sighed, sitting down on his bed. “I don’t know how exactly to tell you this nicely, you know you’re one of my closest friends, but she is also. She told me everything that happened and you’re a dick for saying what you said to her. There was absolutely nothing she could have said or done to make you say that. You crossed a line that I didn’t think you would even come close to. You really hurt her, and she thinks it’s her fault.” Clay told Urban who could already feel his eyes watering, he knew he hurt you, he just didn’t realize how badly he did so.
“I can-“Urban started before he was cut off by Clay.
“I don’t want an explanation or an apology, I’m not the one you should be apologizing to. Save it for her. I’m going to be completely honest with you when I say that I don’t think you are any good for her anymore, she deserves better then someone who would even think something like that, even if they didn’t mean it. I’m telling you this as a friend because if you don’t fix this and learn how to communicate with each other, then you’re going to lose her. She told me that she doesn’t see your relationship ending any other way then a breakup. A breakup that she’s considering initiating herself, and if she does, I’m not going to try to stop her.” Clay told Urban.
“I didn’t mean what I said, and I never meant to hurt her like that.” Urban said, his voice cracking as he talked.
“I’m not the one you have to convince Urban. You know I want what’s best for both of you, and I do think she is good for you, you are usually a better person now that you have her, but I just can’t say that you’re good for her right now. All you can do is talk to her about it and apologize, but neither of us can force her to accept that apology.”
“I know.” Urban sighed. “Fuck, I really messed up this time. I don’t want to lose her.” Urban sighed.
“Tell her that and show her that by listening to her, and actually following through when you tell her you won’t flirt with girls at the club. I know you don’t do it on purpose, but they don’t know that, and I do get how she sometimes does think your flirting with them. Show her that you do care about her.”
“Do you think she’ll forgive me?” Urban asked.
“I wish I could tell you, but I don’t know. You know I would if I could. You’re just as much of a brother to me as Jack is, but she’s like a sister to me too, and I can’t watch her get hurt like this because she does deserve better than that. As much as I hate to be the one who told you all this, you needed to hear it, someone had to tell you.” Clay explained.
“No, I get it. I deserve to be yelled at for what I said, and I mean that. You’re doing it because you’re being a good friend to me and to her. If you knew and you didn’t yell at me, you would be being a bad friend. I know I messed up, and I messed up bad this time.” Clay and Urban continued to talk for a few more minutes before hanging up.
It wasn’t long before you were walking in the front door, letting out a breath before you did. You were expecting Urban to still be angry, and that your argument would continue where it was left off before you left.
As soon as Urban heard the door open, he looked over to see you walk in. You didn’t acknowledge him at first, putting your keys down.
“Can we talk?” Urban asked you.
“Urban.” You sighed softly. “I can’t argue with you any more today. I want to talk about earlier too, but if it’s just going to cause another argument we can talk tomorrow or another day.” You told him walking over to the couch where he was sitting. As you got closer you noticed that his eyes were read and slightly puffy.
“I don’t want to argue either, I just want to apologize. We don’t have to talk about everything right now, but can I at least do that?” He asked and you nodded.
“Yeah, I’m okay with that. I’m sorry I just left without telling you where I was going or responding to you in any way. I was with Clay, but I just had to leave, I don’t want to ruin our relationship.” You explained.
“Hey, I’m the one who’s supposed to be apologizing her.” Urban teased, he knew you had a habit of apologizing even when something wasn’t your fault.
“Sorry.” You apologized again and Urban gave you a teasing look, making you laugh softly.
“Seriously though, you have nothing to apologize for. Your reaction was completely justified, and I will tell you that a thousand times if that’s what it takes for you to believe that. I know you were with Clay, he called me a few minutes ago.”
“I fucking knew he would.” You said under your breath.
“He did, and he told me a lot. I’m glad he did though so don’t be mad at him. I don’t even know how to start apologizing for how much I’ve hurt you. I never should have said that I should have fucked the girls from last night, that was taking things way to far. I never meant it, and obviously that doesn’t make it okay, nothing ever could. I’m just not used to this, not relationships, but being in love, and I think without realizing it, the more I fall in love with you, the more I try to push you away at the same time. So that if we ever do break up, it won’t hurt as much.”
“It’s not only your fault, we both haven’t been good at communicating, I mean, even earlier instead of talking to you about last night, I choose to ignore you. I could have handled it better. That doesn’t make what you said to me okay, but I also said things I shouldn’t have. Not even just last night, but in general. I know you weren’t hitting on them last night, and it’s not your fault that that girl decided to put her hands on you. I’m not saying you exactly handled it correctly, but I also can’t put all the blame on you. I knew your personality before you asked me to be your girlfriend, it wouldn’t be right of me to ask you change now.” You explained.
“But it’s also not right of me to ignore you and talk to other girls all night, even if I don’t have the intentions of flirting.”
“It isn’t, but I’ve also never been clear about my expectations, all I’ve ever told you is to stop flirting with girls, and I do believe you when you say that’s not your intentions, so I can see where you get frustrated.”
“I also want to change. I don’t want you to ever feel like I don’t care about you or love you, because I do, more then anyone. I don’t want you to feel like I care about other girl’s attention because I only care about yours. Even though I know sometimes my actions haven’t matched up to my words, but if you forgive me, which I can’t say I expect you to, I am never going to let you feel like that again. Clay told me everything that you said last night and today, and if you want to break up, then I do get that, but I don’t want that, and it shouldn’t have taken Clay telling me that I’m not good for you anymore to realize how I’ve been treating you because it isn’t fair to you.” Urban told you.
“I don’t want to breakup, but I also can’t sit here and say that I haven’t thought about it because that would be a lie. I know you care about me and love me, but sometimes I don’t feel that way. I love you and I care about you so much Urban, but I’m also not the kind of girl who will sit around and be treated like this with the promises of things getting better next time. I’ve already given you more chances than I’ve ever given anyone else, but it’s not all your fault. We both have to get better at communicating, and not going straight to arguing, screaming at each other, or even ignoring each other. I shouldn’t have stormed out, but it should have never gotten to that point in the first place.” You sighed softly.
“You get one more chance, and that’s not because of your apology, if we both hadn’t made mistakes and need to be better for each other, then you know I would be breaking up with you. We both need to work on things, personally and as a couple. Relationships aren’t easy, but I’m willing to put the work in if you are.” You told Urban.
“Of course, I am. I never want to lose you. I mean it when I say I want to spend the rest of my life with you, start a family with you, I want everything with you. Sometimes that just terrifies me, but I know I need to work on handling that better, for me, and for us.”
“It terrifies me too. I want all of that with you, but it’s scary.”
“I’m never going to let you regret giving me one more chance. I’m going to apologize every day for the rest of my life if I have to.” Urban promised, and you knew he would.
“I love you.” You smiled softly, leaning over to kiss Urban softly.
“I love you too, never going to let you doubt it for a second.” Urban promised and kissed you once again.

need more apollo and darren lore to see if i can relate them to back to december
you can ONE HUNDRED PERCENT relate them to back to december if you just ignore the tiny detail of them not breaking up in december (but like, who cares because it’s the VIBE that matters and in this case the vibe is definitely accurate)
i will definitely be adding more apollo and darren lore…let’s just say… archery world championships happening soon…. olympics in one year…. kayla’s an icon mastermind…..
but! some little notes in specific relation to back to december
i know you may think this is apollos pov, but after looking over the lyrics again to refresh my memory… it’s from darren’s perspective. 100%
I'm so glad you made time to see me / How's life? Tell me, how's your family? / I haven't seen them in a while
apollos family!! not referring to his dad. duh. but darren’s prob just talking abt like the 1-2 times he met will and austin as babies, he hasn’t seen them since so “a while”…. sure darren, that might be a bit of an understatement
You've been good, busier than ever / We small talk, work and the weather / Your guard is up and I know why
small talk is SO real with them. they’re so awkward esp rn. they don’t know how to talk to each other. apollo says “nice weather we’re having” completely unironically and darren responds “oh yeah it’s nice”
cue silence for like 2 minutes until apollo asks how his coaching is going and more and more stilted conversation
AND!!! they’re both busier than ever!! apollo returning to being employed (kinda? i mean, he has a job so) and darren with olympics being next year
Because the last time you saw me / Is still burned in the back of your mind / You gave me roses and I left them there to die
i don’t wanna spoil exactly how they broke up… bc me and wronghuntress had like an hour long convo abt pollen lore a few weeks back and. guys. when i tell you i am SO fucking excited to write it‼️‼️
HOWEVER. this line. is very. very. very. fitting. from darren’s pov that’s all i’m saying hereeee
bc ik in one of the other chapters i said that apollos like “i ruined his life” and he DID but also like. it’s messy. it’s so very messy.
So this is me swallowin' my pride / Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night / And I go back to December all the time
not technically in front of him but!! the phone call!! abt kayla!! him swallowing up his pride, and there wasn’t necessarily an apology for the… things that happened, but it’s a step forward
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you / Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine / I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright / I go back to December all the time
change it to march and make darren a singer instead of an archer and this would be one of his songs😭😭
These days, I haven't been sleepin' / Stayin' up playin' back myself leavin' / When your birthday passed and I didn't call / Then I think about summer, all the beautiful times / I watched you laughin' from the passenger's side / And realized I loved you in the fall
god… this timeline is actually SO real. if anyone’s making a pollen playlist out there (i should probably do that when i have timeHDKDJD) THIS SONG‼️‼️‼️
anyway ofc apollo is associated with summer in darren’s brain… and also apollo def thinks of summer too when thinking of darren :)
and oh yeah, ofc apollo’s in the passenger seat. bro probably grew up with drivers and doesn’t have his license.. rip sun chariot!!! (he gets his license eventually, ofc, but only bc it’s to drive will to school)
I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile / So good to me, so right
But if we loved again, I swear I'd love you right
i mean, do these even need to be explained? well darren, i can assure you that you WILL love again. it’s what we all need
okay so. i can’t really. explain the rest of this stuff. but here are the lyrics that stand out to me SOOO much because of how they broke up. that is all i can say for now!!
And then the cold came, the dark days / When fear crept into my mind / You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye
And how you held me in your arms that September night / The first time you ever saw me cry
thank you so much for the ask!! it’s been a while since some pollen content but i swear it’s coming soon :))

Kyungsoo Request: Imagine going to Greece with your boyfriend Kyungsoo for your first anniversary
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo had been adamant you were going to celebrate together in Greece on the exact date of your one-year anniversary. You adored Greece and had lived there a little as a child and Kyungsoo also liked the history and culture. On your 4th date, Kyungsoo joked you should go there on your 1 year anniversary and you grinned and told him you'd love that. You didn't give much thought to Kyungsoo's joke and had all but forgotten about it but a few months before your anniversary he asked if you'd still like to go there for your anniversary. You'd said yes and were very excited to go on holiday with Kyungsoo You didn't actually expect it to be on the exact date of your anniversary because the idol life was demanding and they never got to take time off when they wanted so when Kyungsoo told you you'd be going on the exact date you were stunned. Kyungsoo went through a lot to get that date but he didn't tell you that. He just told you he always kept his promises and you told him he was the best boyfriend ever.
A week before you were due to go the management started trying to wiggle Kyungsoo out of his holiday with you by offering him 2 weeks later in the summer instead. Kyungsoo refused, he'd made a commitment to you and was going to honour that. You'd been so understanding of all the late nights just before a comeback to having to be super private about everything and the many dates that got cancelled last minute when something came up. Kyungsoo wasn't going to let anything ruin this holiday and was as stubborn as...well himself and that's how you both ended up in Greece to celebrate your anniversary just like you'd joked about almost a year ago!
You discovered Kyungsoo was a hilarious person to travel with about 15 minutes into your journey to the airport. While you were a rather laid-back traveler he had everything organised and planned. He showed you the map with pinpoints of everywhere you might like to go and all the notes he had on his phone about things you might both enjoy. "I googled the stores at the airport and they have a Lego store!" he cried "how cool is that". You smiled at him "well get something, we can make it on the plane or when we get to Greece". Kyungsoo nodded "I thought exactly that and they also have a really nice chicken place which I thought we could buy dinner from". "Isn't there food on the plane?" you asked and Kyungsoo nodded "yeah but I checked and I don't think they'll have anything you like" he said passing you the menu on his phone. After a quick glance, you nodded "yeah you're right there's nothing on here I'd really want to eat. Wow you really know me well huh?". Kyungsoo smiled "well of course! I'd like to think you're the person I know best in the world and that you know me best too". You smiled "I hope I do...I mean I'm pretty sure I am. I know your favourite movie, song, season, month, colour..." and you would've continued but Kyungsoo cut you off with a laugh "I know and you don't have to prove it don't worry". You smiled "okay but I kind of want to...quiz me!". Kyungsoo laughed at how you were competitive even in this situation but it warmed his heart how enthusiastic you were to talk about him.
The quizzing continued all the way through the airport check-in, security and right until takeoff when you had to stop for the safety announcements. You didn't like takeoff too much and Kyungsoo wrapped an arm around you during it and held your hand tightly. "It's okay, you're safe. I've got you" he whispered to you softly and his voice and embrace helped calm you down. Once you were in the air you relaxed a little and curled up with Kyungsoo to watch a movie. You soon fell asleep against his chest which was a common occurrence. You claimed his chest had some sort of hypnotic power because anytime you were against it, you were out like a light. Again Kyungsoo loved this and made sure to utilise his "power" as much as possible. You woke up to see the Lego set on the table and gasped "you started without me?" but you should've known better. Kyungsoo was just reading the instructions and smiled at you "of course not, I'm not an anarchist" and you spent the rest of the journey building it together.
When you landed, Kyungsoo was organised. He packed your lego creation away into a bag he bought especially for this purpose and had all your documents to hand making customs a breeze. He knew exactly where you should go to get a taxi and took your hand leading you out the airport doors. You got hit with the warm breeze and smiled pausing "I'm so ready for this" and Kyungsoo nodded "me too".
Kyungsoo had organised everything so he'd chosen your villa and you'd seen some photos but hadn't been too bothered, trusting Kyungsoo completely but when you got there you were stunned because it was the most beautiful villa you'd ever seen. "Is this really ours?" you asked as Kyungsoo led you through the gate and up to the front door. He laughed "yeah of course it is" and he unlocked the door letting you go further into your temporary home. Your jaw dropped again once you'd seen the inside "Kyungsoo are you sure?" you asked and he laughed "yes! Why are you so unsure?". "Because this doesn't look like the photos you showed me" you laughed and Kyungsoo smiled sneakily "well I might've just shown you the standard villas...instead of this one". "What this one?" you asked and Kyungsoo laughed "well I think the full title is the Elite Luxury Royal Villa but that's a bit much right?". "You booked me a royal villa?" you asked shocked and Kyungsoo shrugged "technically yes but I don't think anyone royal has ever stayed here". You shook your head still stunned, "Kyungsoo this is insane! Did I still pay enough?". "It wasn't much to upgrade us so don't worry about that" Kyungsoo said "is it okay I did this? Do you like it?". "I love it" you smiled "there's a hottub and a beautiful pool and the view is insane and omg look at that dressing room!" you cried "wow I...why?" you asked. "because I wanted to treat you" Kyungsoo said "I know there have been a fair few cancelled dates and it's not easy dating an idol but you never complain and always support me. I want to show you how much I appreciate that and how I think you should be treated all the time". You smiled shaking your head "you really think that highly of me?". "Of course I do" Kyungsoo smiled "happy anniversary Y/n" and he pulled you forwards so he could kiss you.
Your actual anniversary was 2 days away and you had things planned for that day but Kyungsoo still wouldn't tell you everything he had planned. For your first day you unpacked, explored a little and then came back home still a little tired from the travelling.
The next day, you and Kyungsoo did some sightseeing in the morning, explored some of the higher ground, got a few great photos and then came back when it started getting busy in the afternoon. You were relaxing by the pool when your phone rang. It was Baekhyun and you went to turn to Kyungsoo to ask if he thought everything was okay before realising he'd headed inside.
You picked up the phone and Baekhyun's face came into focus. "Hey are you okay?" you asked worried and Baekhyun grinned "yeah I'm fine how are you?". You paused before smiling "I'm good...we're here...on holiday" you tried to say to delicately remind Baekhyun in case he'd somehow forgotten. "Yeah we know we just wanted to make sure you were okay" Suho said suddenly his face appearing and you realised all the guys were there. "Oh hey everyone!" you said waving "aww that's sweet you're checking in with us" and you started telling them all about the cute things Kyungsoo did on the plane and they loved it.
Kyungsoo came back outside to hear laughter and was confused before he heard his members' voices. "Why are you calling Y/n?" he asked sitting down beside you and the guys cheered when they saw him. "Yeah yeah it's good to see you all now answer my question!". "We just wanted to make sure you got there okay but you weren't answering our calls" Baekhyun said smugly. "You've been calling us?" you asked and then you saw Kyungsoo's guilty face and gasped "Kyungsoo!".  "Y/n they're just trying to pry and annoy us!" he said and then Chanyeol gasped "hey I resent that I care if you're okay...sure annoying you was Baekhyun's main reason for calling you but that's him, not me!". That made you laugh and Kyungsoo saw his chance to pluck the phone out of your hands. He raised it to his face and smiled sweetly at Chanyeol "okay well we're here safe and happy and now you know so there's no need to bother us for the rest of the trip okay? Okay bye" and he hung up the phone. You could hear the guys hurrying to speak to him before they were cut off.
"That was mean" you said jokingly and Kyungsoo shrugged "I've spent many years of my life with them and I love them but in the nicest possible way I don't want to see a single one of them this whole week. The only person I want to see, is you" he said coming to stand next to you. "Just me huh?" you asked "you know that might be pretty hard to achieve. For that we'd have to never leave this villa" and you rested your hands on his broad shoulders. "That sounds like the perfect holiday to me" Kyungsoo said and just as you were leaning over to kiss him he swiftly lifted you up and into his lap. You made a slight squeal before settling in your new home and Kyungsoo smiled "now this is perfection, why would I need to see anything else?" and he finally kissed you.
The next day was your anniversary and you woke up to find the bed empty but knew where Kyungsoo would be. You padded to the patio and surely enough there was Kyungsoo setting up a beautiful breakfast. He'd clearly nipped out for fresh food and produce and you watched him for a few seconds before going over to him. You wrapped your arms around him and smiled "happy anniversary" you said softly and Kyungsoo tensed before smiling. "I wanted to be the first to say it to you!" he cried "did I wake you?". "Ha ha I beat you and no I just figured you'd be here. Remember? I know you pretty well Kyungsoo" and he smiled "guess I'll have to be sneakier to surprise you this holiday huh?". The smirk on his face and the glint in his eye made you so excited to find out what he had planned.
You helped Kyungsoo make breakfast (despite his protests) and then headed out for a beautiful morning boat ride around the coast. After that you went to a museum Kyungsoo thought you would like and he was completely correct. All the exhibits were things you found interesting and you had a great time. Plus, it was fun just getting to wander around with Kyungsoo and do mundane things which made you realise how much you sometimes missed him. You understood Kyungsoo's job was hard and that's why you never got annoyed if he cancelled dates or was home a little later. You knew it wasn't his fault but it was difficult sometimes and that's what made moments like this more special. You got to just wander around a museum with your boyfriend and see his face react to odd exhibits and modern art. Moments like this made you remember how much you loved being with Kyungsoo and how much he meant to you.
You thought about this all day and Kyungsoo noticed you watching him again at dinner and smiled "what?" he asked and you blushed "what?". "You've been staring at me all day" he said "have I got something on my face?". You shook your head "no not at all I just...I'm really happy we're here together" you said and Kyungsoo smiled at you "that's why you've been staring at me?". You nodded now fully blushing "I love that we get this time together and I feel special to be sat across from you. Thank you for taking the time out of your super busy life to plan this holiday. You organised everything and it happened because of you and I couldn't be happier, I think it's exactly what I needed. Time with just you". Kyungsoo smiled "I think time with just you is all I ever need" and you smiled "well you know I'm always open to that" and you squeezed Kyungsoo's hand before your eyes went to the square that your restaurant was in.
A bunch of people had gathered and were all standing around for something. "What are they doing?" Kyungsoo asked and you frowned "I have no idea..." before you spotted a band and smiled "it's some live music! Aww this will be so beautiful, did you know about this?". Kyungsoo shook his head, he had researched all the bars and restaurants in the area to prepare but he hadn't read anything about live music...and then the dancing started. Kyungsoo could tell you wanted to dance the second your eyes focused on the dancers. Your eyes lit up and a small smile appeared on your face watching the couples swirl around. Kyungsoo didn't even hesitate "do you want to join them?" he asked. You looked at him and smiled widely telling him your answer.
Kyungsoo led you over to the group or more accurately he tried but you were so excited you practically dragged him into the fray. You were always a lot more spontaneous and excitable than him and he liked that. Seeing you happy made him happy and the guys always rolled their eyes when he said that but he meant it!
Kyungsoo was a fairly good dancer and he took in the beat, observed the steps and then tried to lead you but you took over. You did your own routine different to everyone else's and Kyungsoo couldn't help but laugh at the pure joy on your face. "You know, things are never boring with you around" Kyungsoo said and you smiled "I'm glad you're not bored of me yet" but before you could laugh Kyungsoo replied "never". You could feel how much Kyungsoo meant that and it made you blush. He could be really intense sometimes and it left you feeling flustered and fluttery. It always made you want him and Kyungsoo must've recognised that look in your eye because he smiled.
"Can I kiss you?" he whispered. You'd been dating for ages so he didn't typically ask anymore but the act made your stomach do somersaults and you nodded. Kyungsoo leaned in and captured your lips with his own right in the middle of the dance floor. Typically Kyungsoo disliked PDA but right now he didn't care that there were tons of people around you or that you were in public. He just kissed you and carried on kissing you for as long as you both wanted. He didn't care what anyone else thought. You were the only person on his radar.
Kyungsoo could've sat there kissing you all night but he had a schedule to stick to! So he gently broke away from you, held you close for a few more dances and then whispered in your ear he had a surprise for you. You LOVED surprises so your face lit up again and you badgered Kyungsoo to give you hints about what it was. He admitted it was near the pier and you practically skipped there and when you reached there you looked at him questioningly.
The pier was lit up by lots of boats which had pretty lights on them and people were freely milling around the coastline. Kyungsoo led you to the front and gave his name where the woman in charge smiled and led you to one of her bigger boats. It was still petite and clearly for 2 but had more furnishings and looked very pretty.  "Kyungsoo what is all of this?" you asked and he smiled "I might've rang ahead and put some arrangements in, I know gondolas are more Venice but I couldn't resist, especially because of how much you love the ocean" he smiled. He stepped into the boat and held out a hand for you "well are you coming or what?" and with a smile, you stepped into the boat.
Kyungsoo steered the boat himself instead of taking a rower and you figured he would. Kyungsoo was social and good at talking to people but when the two of you were together he liked privacy. He wasn't scared to talk about his feelings in front of others but he told you he didn't get as much time with you as he'd like, so any time that he did get with you he wanted it to be special and distraction-free. You were more than happy to have Kyungsoo all to yourself and alternated steering the boat. Kyungsoo initially wanted you to just lay back and relax while he pushed you but he knew you were a curious excitable person and of course, you'd want a go rowing the boat.
He tensed as you clambered around the boat with zero worry about falling in the water but as he'd said, you loved the sea and this wasn't your first time on a small boat. "Wow you're way better at this than me and I had a lesson" Kyungsoo said as you powerfully pushed them into a bay where other boats were floating and you laughed before freezing "wait you had a lesson?". "Yeah, I wanted to make sure I could keep us safe out here" Kyungsoo said and you smiled "please, I don't think anyone could make me safer". "I know but I'm not Poseidon so I can't control the waves if we fall in" he said and you nodded "I know and it's a shame" making Kyungsoo gasp. "Wow I'm sorry I'm not a Greek God with the seven seas at my fingertips!" he cried and you reached for him "I was joking!". "No I always knew you fancied Poseidon more than me" reaching away from you but you were in a boat and there was literally only so far he could go. So eventually you trapped him and made him look at you "you know I like you more than Poseidon, the god of the sea has nothing on you". Kyungsoo grinned because he loved when you complimented him and he bobbed his head down to kiss you. You broke away for breath and smiled "now Hades on the other hand..." and Kyungsoo laughed "shut up" and kissed you again.
Eventually, you started rowing again and Kyungsoo took the lead. He steered you away from the other boats and you thought he was going out to sea until he turned suddenly and you gasped. "I thought you'd like it" Kyungsoo smiled and you did. There was a hidden alcove wide enough for a few boats to fit through between some of the cliffs and it looked magical. Kyungsoo told you they were a special type of rock that glowed in the dark and it was extraordinary rowing through them. The water reflected off the rocks and it was so beautiful. The cliffs made it feel private too and there was nobody else here so it felt like a perfect hideaway only you and Kyungsoo knew about.
You emerged on the other end into a more secluded bay and Kyungsoo led you towards the shore before stopping. You could tell he was expecting something so looked at him  "what?". "Wait" he smiled sitting down next to you and putting an arm around you. You did what Kyungsoo said and waited...for 1 minute. You couldn't sit still very long and were going to ask Kyungsoo what was meant to be happening when you saw a light in the sky.
A figure appeared with a lightning bolt and you realised it was Zeus and then more and more God and Goddesses appeared. It was a drone show and it was stunning! They acted out some of the famous myths and constellations and you were so impressed. The show lasted for 15 minutes and when it was over everyone clapped startling you. You'd forgotten anyone else was around you were so engrossed in everything. It was truly the most magical night of your life.
Coming back to reality, you reached out for Kyungsoo and leaned into him wishing this moment could go on forever. "You okay?" Kyungsoo asked and you nodded "I'm perfect, this is beautiful Kyungsoo" you said and he smiled "you're beautiful" and you blushed. Kyungsoo loved it when he made you blush. You were more confident than him so usually he was the one to blush, but not always and anytime he got a blush from you his chest swelled. Tonight was no exception but a little different because it was your anniversary and everything felt heightened. Kyungsoo was here on the other side of the world, with an incredible woman he was lucky enough to call his girlfriend. He hadn't planned a speech or anything surprisingly but the words just tumbled from his mouth.
"Y/n I just want to say thank you. This past year with you has been the happiest of my life. You always make me feel so cared for and valid. You balance me out perfectly and all the guys have seen a change in me". "Really?" you asked and Kyungsoo nodded "they all say I smile more and am more relaxed and I know that's all because of you! All you have to do is send me a text and I know you're thinking about me and thinking about you calms me down". "It does?" you asked and Kyungsoo nodded "yes because I love you Y/n".
You blinked as Kyungsoo's word sunk in.
Despite being together a year neither of you had said you loved the other. For Kyungsoo this was normal, he thought about everything he felt and didn't wear his heart on his sleeve. He wasn't going to say something he wasn't sure he felt and was more of a slow burner. You were also very chill and words didn't matter to you that much. You liked how Kyungsoo treated you and made you feel. That mattered more than anything for you and you didn't have a timer for when things had to happen in a relationship. You were happy just to go with the flow and for moments to arrive at the right time...like what was happening right now.
"Kyungsoo" you smiled and saw his eyes rapidly shifting from the bottom of the boat to the water and back to you, a sign he was nervous. You took Kyungsoo's hand in your own and squeezed it. "I love you too" you said softly but Kyungsoo heard you and his eyes suddenly shot to you. "You do?" you asked and you smiled "of course I do Kyungsoo, I've loved you for so long and I know no matter what I'll always love you. You're my Kyungsoo" you said and that was it. Kyungsoo's face broke out into a goofy smile before he could stop himself and a ghastly laugh accompanied it. Kyungsoo tried to cover his mouth but you wouldn't let go of his hands and pushed your body against his so you could hug him.
Kyungsoo wrapped his arms around you and sighed at how wonderful things felt, you must've read his mind. "Kyungsoo this whole holiday has just been perfect, I feel so lucky to have you. Thank you" and Kyungsoo smiled holding you closer. "You deserve everything" he whispered in your ear "I'd give you the world if I could and I will always spoil you". That made you pull back with a smile "I don't need the world, just you" and Kyungsoo genuinely faltered because he could tell you meant that. Being an idol, he had to be wary of every new relationship and think of the worst possible scenarios just in case but not with you. You'd broken past all his barriers and now he could just truly give himself over to his happiness. So instead of looking down to hide his blush or trying to find the words to tell you how he felt, Kyungsoo just held onto you and didn't let go for the rest of the night.
The remaining 3 days of your holiday passed in a blur and before you knew it you were back home. Baehyun, Chanyeol, Kai and Suho were waiting for you at the airport, uninvited. Kyungsoo had asked them not to come but they ignored him and Baekhyun ran to him like a child who had been kept from their parents for months. Kyungsoo was mortified but once you got them all sat down in a cafe and people stopped staring, he relaxed.
"So how was it?" Chanyeol asked "did you see any old temples or shrines". You smiled "we did but that could describe like half of Greece so that's not saying much". "Well you both look really happy and tanned" Kai said "you look like you had a good trip. Kyungsoo shoulders were all back and relaxed before Baekhyun appeared!". "He loves me he just won't admit it" Baekhyun said reaching across the table until he flinched when Kyungsoo went for him. "Yeah it was incredibly relaxing and romantic" you nodded "the best week I've had in years". "The best week of my life" Kyungsoo said and you paused, surprised out of all the crazy weeks he'd had as an idol, your holiday was his favourite. "Do you have any photos?" Suho asked and you went to nod when Kyungsoo put his phone on the table and began to show the guys. He had all your holiday photos in an album and started explaining each day to the boys. You smiled watching your boyfriend get excited about things you'd seen and blushed as he showed them photos of you you didn't even know he'd taken. There was one of you in the boat where you were staring up at the light show and you looked so happy and transfixed. Your heart soared again when you realised Kyungsoo had set it as his home screen.
On the way to the car Baekhyun fell in step with you. "You okay?" he asked "you've gone quiet". You nodded "yeah I'm good I just...I realised how much Kyungsoo loves me this trip and I honestly can't believe it". Baekhyun laughed "you didn't think he loved you?". "I knew he cared about me but he loves me so much" you smiled "to have a guy like that feel so strongly about me...it makes me feel pretty damn lucky". Baekhyun smiled "you are, our boy is wonderful but he's also got excellent taste and he wouldn't have fallen for you without reason. You make him happy Y/n and we're all so pleased you're together". "You are?" you asked and Baekhyun nodded "we can't think of anyone more worthy of our boy than you". That made you tear up and Baekhyun hugged you when he realised. "You deserve him so enjoy it" he whispered and then you reached the car.
Kyungsoo made sure to get a seat next to you and leaned into you "are you okay? What did Baekhyun say to you?" protective boyfriend mode on. You smiled "don't worry it was nice stuff about you and it made me a little emotional". "Oh, do you want to talk about it?" he asked and you smiled "I'm pretty perfect actually" and Kyungsoo smiled "yes you are" making you blush.
This had been the best holiday of your life but something told you, you had many more adventures with Kyungsoo and you couldn't wait.

Today was the day. The day Felix was supposed to come back to you from being on tour for 2 months. You missed him so much. You missed his cuddles, his voice, his lips.
Everything about him really. You even tried to coax him into coming home a few times, of course failing and giving up, knowing he would probably punish you when he got back but you just missed him so much.
You got the text from Chan telling you that the boys had landed and Felix was supposed to be on his way to you, but 2 hours later he still hadn't shown up you texted and called him and even had called the other boys asking if they knew where he was they all said they thought he went straight to your apartment. You knew you weren't going to be able to sleep until you knew he was safe, so you sat on your couch, watching TV, while waiting for him to knock on the door.
You ended up falling asleep, waking up hearing your phone ringing, it was Chan. " Hey Nina, Felix just came back to the house, did you ever see him come by?" Chan questioned. You replied " No I haven't, did he seem mad?" Chan chuckled "No he was his usual self. Did you do something to make him mad at you?" "Chan I told you I didn't see him, I haven't seen him or talked to him much since you guys left for tour."
"Well we all plan on coming to see you tomorrow so I'll let you get to sleep, so you have energy for all 8 of us to attack you" Chan jokes with you. You say your goodnights and once you hang up you go to your bedroom, but as you do you receive a text from Felix.
"Hey kitten, didn't mean to worry you if I did, but I will be punishing you by dragging out you being able to get any sexual relief from me. For now you have to deal without this cock you love so much. Until I think you've learned your lesson." You were shocked reading this text, he usually wasn't this dominant and never called you kitten until now, usually calling you baby or babe, but it certainly brought out the submissive side of you that you hadn't told Felix about but somehow he must have picked up on. Most people would probably think that it was the other way around, that Felix was the submissive and you were the dominant, but you were always more of the submissive type.
" I'm sorry, sir, I just missed you. I'll behave until you say otherwise, I'm going to sleep now though so have a good night" you sent the reply before you could think twice then changed and got into bed. He responded with a "goodnight Nina" message. Oh no, he definitely was mad, he never calls you by name.
You try to get some sleep but are up and down every few hours throughout the night. You're worried how mad he is and if he'll even come with the rest of the members. You get up at around 8:30 am and decide to make some coffee to prepare for the day ahead, also having to clean before the guys get there. Once the coffee has been drunk, you get up and start cleaning up to get your mind off of the punishment Felix had put in place. At around 11:30 you get a call from Chan telling you that the boys and him are on the way, including Felix, so he was coming with them still, so he must not be too mad.
30 minutes after Chan called, there was a knock at the door. You went and answered it and we're automatically attacked with a hug from Han Jisung. He didn't let you go until Chan pulled him away while laughing. Once he finally let you go from the hug, all the other members hugged you, except for Felix. Felix came to you last, hugging you but he did kiss you and hold your hand. Once they all had greeted you, you all moved into your living room, sitting on the couch to watch movies and play games, like you always do when they come back from a tour.
At some point Chan had pulled you into cuddle with him while you watched one of the movies and you kept feeling Felix stare at you through it. You turned to whisper to Chan " Felix is staring at us. Do you think you should let me go back to him?" And Chan shook his head no, clearly trying to get Felix to react to him holding you.
After them being with you for about 7 hours the boys, aside from Felix, decided to go get food and bring it back to your apartment. Leaving you with Felix, they said they would be back in about 30 to 45 minutes. You were sitting in silence with Felix, until he spoke up "Are you trying to get back at me for wanting to punish you baby? Trying to make me jealous of Chan? Cause I have half the mind to remind you who you belong to now." You were shocked once again at this. You shook your head, not trusting your voice. He came over to you and started kissing you passionately.
The kiss kept getting harder and more passionate, Felix rubbing his hands down your sides. Shortly after he decided to start kissing your neck and slip his hands under your shirt. You moaned out " I'm sorry sir, I wasn't meaning to do that, I even asked him if I should come back to you" " Oh so you weren't just being a bad slut?" Felix rasped out "I'm going to take you to the bedroom baby, I need you now I haven't had you for 2 months."
He then picked you up and took you to your bedroom, closing and locking the door behind you and him. You didn't understand why he did that at first as the boys were out. "Kitten, I intend to take my time with you, cause I also plan on punishing you still and make sure you feel lots of pleasure, they'll probably be back while I fuck you. Do you remember your safe word, should you need to use it?" Felix explains as if he read your mind. You nod then state your safe word "mocha is my safe word, sir". You had chosen this safe word quite a while ago and had never needed to use it but it's better to already have it in place you and Felix agreed.
After you stated your safe word, Felix pulled out your favorite sex toy which is a pink vibrator that is smaller than his cock, but fills you up so perfectly. But when he pulled it out you knew exactly why he had said he was going to punish you still, he was going to edge you. You weren't going to fight it. You actually love edging so it wasn't really a punishment, aside from you didn't know how long he'd make you go without orgasm. He then pulls your shirt off and starts kissing your neck, both of his hands grasping your breasts roughly causing you to scream then bite your lips. He stops and commands in a deep voice "Don't you dare hide your noises from me, you do that and I will stop."
You squeak at his dominant side coming again, hoping he doesn't notice it and what it does to you, but he does. " Oh does my pretty kitten like it when I'm dominant? Shall I do this more often? Are you my pretty sub baby?" You squeak again. He takes that as a yes and chuckles. He then takes off the shorts and panties you were wearing leaving you naked and him, still fully clothed. He turns on the vibrator and brings it down to your pussy, focusing on your clit with it.
"You're so pretty baby, I'm sorry I'm having to punish you but you acted bratty, and you can't just do that without punishment. Don't worry master is going to fuck you tonight, all night long after I edge you for a bit. And I don't care if the boys hear me fucking you either. You're mine and they need to know that." His voice is such a turn on to you and he knows it. He decides to try to get you to the edge quickly, by sucking on one of your nipples. You moan out his name loudly, knowing you're one the edge of orgasm already because your nipples are sensitive and he puts just the right amount of pressure on your clit, a moment later he pulls away from you.
Satisfied with having brought you to the edge and then pulling all stimulation away, Felix chuckles. "Poor kitten, didn't get to cum, I know I know, just a few more times and I'll give you what you need.i just need you to learn your lesson first about begging me to come home on tour and then flirting with my hyung." Once you've calmed down, he brings the vibrator back to your clit, repeating exactly as he just had.
After 3 more edges you're screaming and begging " Please sir please please please let me cum, give me this please I won't misbehave again." He gives in and strips himself finally. Once all his clothes are off, he takes his dick in hand and gives it a few pumps before bringing it to your pussy, pushing in and bottoming out. He waits a few seconds. He moans at feeling you around him "fuck baby you're so tight, I love your pussy so much, you're so good to me, I'll be good to you now baby, just cum when you need to. I don't know how long I'll last now."
He starts thrusting in and out of you, starting off just slowly making sure he'll be able to last. He brings his mouth down to your ear and starts whispering praises into your ear "Good girl, such a good pussy, I love you." over and over again. As he starts picking up the pace you feel the coil in your stomach building up and snap very quickly and as it snaps you feel yourself squirt all over Felix. Stunned, Felix stops thrusting. He looks down in awe of you. "Oh my god, baby you just squirted all over me, that was so hot, if I eat you out now will you do it again?" He then pulls out and moves to where his face is between your legs and starts eating you out.
His tongue moves expertly on your pussy, licking and sucking just right, trying to give you an amazing orgasm from his tongue also. He loves giving you pleasure and just wants you to always have a mind blowing orgasm. As he continues to eat you out, you feel the coil building up again. And after about 3 minutes it snaps, and you squirt all over his face, and he loves it. He then puts himself back into you trying to give you another orgasm, and eventually he does give you 3 more orgasms, totaling 5 orgasms for the night.
After your 5th orgasm, you tell him you're too sensitive and you want to suck him until he cums in your mouth so you can taste him. " Baby wants to give me the pleasure I have her? Go ahead baby" he moves to where he is laying on your bed and lets you get to where you can suck his dick. You grab it with one hand and then wrap your mouth around the head of his cock and start bobbing your head up and down and sucking making him moan " oh fuck so good baby I love your mouth, I'm gonna cum." He came in your mouth shortly after and you swallow all of his cum.
After that he gets up and runs you a hot bath so that you too can get clean. After the bath is done he puts you back into your bed and walks into the living room and kitchen to get you food to eat after that long and intense session. As he walks out there half clothed the boys start teasing him about the noises they heard from both of you and he brushes them off. Coming back to you, he gives you the food he brought for you. After eating you cuddled up in bed and fell asleep with Felix's arms wrapped around you.
