Nothing will be more weirder than the Ninjago fandom acting like Cole was in love with Nya throughout Rebooted.
Through the entire Love Triangle ordeal, he never actually acts for Nya, instead only reacting to Jay. Observe:
Blackout
In the previous episode, The Art of the Silent Fist, there was a scene between Cole and Nya. Throughout that episode, Nya was struggling with her newfound feelings towards Cole (given to her by a machine I might add but that's a conversation for another day). Nya talks to Cole in that scene and it ends with them holding hands and Cole jokingly saying "Don't tell Jay."
Why am I bringing this up? Because I honestly have trouble looking at that through a romantic lense. I often see people use this as evidence even though it doesn't match up with how the show would later indicate romance (they looked at each other so they're in love now! Chemistry, what's that!) More importantly, Nya never actually articulates her feelings for Cole in this scene. This is crucial when getting to Blackout. In Blackout, after Pixal blurts out that Cole is a perfect match for Nya, not Jay, who entered the room at the time, his first instinct is to attack Cole as soon as he saw him! From the POV of Cole, this looks like his friend calling him names and a whole lot of other things seemingly out of nowhere, he never actually heard about the "Perfect Match" results and that combined with the previously mentioned scene leaves us with a Cole who isn't in love with Nya and is only focused on Jay.
The Curse of The Golden Master
In this clip, after the ninja head into the sewer like a certain other group of color coded ninja, Jay gets into another spat with Cole after Cole dared to *checks note* look out for Nya's safety. This causes the two to get into an argument and ignore Nya falling from the broken ladder.
Now this scene on it's own doesn't mean much, but when paired with the other episodes mentioned, it starts to paint a bigger picture. This scene is a tipping point for Cole, going from someone clueless about his situation and fighting with Jay to letting this petty, near one-sided rivalry get in the way of the task at hand.
This scene is honestly the perfect representation of the Love Triangle in Rebooted: it was never really about Nya, she was just a stepping stone to get to Jay yelling at Cole over a situation he has no idea he's even in. Cole isn't out of the woodwork either as he begins to ignore Nya solely so he can insult Jay, but hey, it can't get any worse right?
Codename: Arcturus
It got worse.
In Codename: Arcturus, we see Jay, Cole, and Nya at the movie theater to "prove who Nya should go out with." Now, you may ask "doesn't that sequence end with both Jay and Cole asking who Nya will date and her kidnapping a cleaning robot?" yes, it does! But the important thing here is that it wasn't even Nya's idea in the first place ("Hey, it wasn't my idea to go on a double date to decide between you two.") Interesting thing of note, this is the only episode in the entire season where it's actually shown Cole fighting for Nya's affection, but even then it's not really about her, it's about getting back at Jay more than anything.
I know someone will come in wondering about "authorial intent," the intent in question being that Cole could be a potential love interest for Nya moving forward, but while I can see the intent, I can also acknowledge that what actually landed on the page and later the screen does not match the intent at all. Instead of Cole falling in love with Nya and getting into a spat with Jay that way, we got Cole treating Nya like a stepping stone to get back at Jay, disregarding her feelings in the process.
TL;DR: Kai should've knocked Jay and Cole upside the head for being weird about his sister

I know it’s disappointing that Lucy ranked so low in the detective’s exam, but let’s not forget that hardship when it comes to promotions it’s nothing new in the show. Both Angela and Nolan had their problems before getting to their current positions. One of the first things we learned about Angela is that she wanted to make detective and she didn’t make it until season 3 and Nolan was sent away so he couldn’t take the TO exam (in hindsight they just handed him the promotion later on in season 5 but I hope it kinda shows my point?)
Don’t get me wrong, I would have love for our girl to get the score she actually deserves, but I also wanna see where we go from here.
Oh, as disappointed and enraged as I am for Lucy, I also want to see how this is all going to play out. And in light of her upcoming storyline, let's just say that I'm even more intrigued.
But what makes this so heartbreaking is the unfairness of the situation and the optics. It was never about Lucy's competence, even though that's the only thing that should matter. It was never about the sprinklers. That was just a convenient excuse. She got penalised for something that might be questionable (the five-player trade and getting her man a promotion) but she didn't break any rule. Worse : her promotion was blocked by someone who directly reaped the rewards of what she did. Let's take the time to acknowledge that Primm is now a lieutenant while he was still referred as a detective in s5.
And yet, this is nothing new. When Lucy found out about her score, all I could think about was what she said back in s1 :
"Look, this kind of obstacle is new to you, but it's status quo for me. You're a novelty item right now, but in 13 months, you'll be a P2, and the cops will treat you like one of the guys, but I'll- I'll have to prove myself to every cop I work with." (1.01)
"You'll never be in my shoes. And you'll never know how unfair that is." (1.04)
And I hope that this is acknowledged. I hope this is part of her arc. Because this is all too real for women. And even more so for women of color.
Because yes, you're right, Angela and Nolan faced some hardships before being promoted…
In Angela's case, it was due to a terrible mistake that she did. One that had devastating consequences (don't get me wrong, it was heartbreaking to see Angela in that position and she more than earned her promotion).
Now, Nolan's situation was far more similar to the one Lucy's in : he pissed off a higher-up who decided to block him. Only since it lasted one episode, I can barely consider this as a hardship. Especially since he actually got the Golden Ticket for his trouble. You know, the thing that Nyla got after years of intense undercover work… (again with the optics here).
So unless Lucy gets back on track in an episode or two, that would be a major double standard. One that circles back to what Lucy said in s1. And one that isn't new. Nolan broke the rules several times along the years and while he got punished, it never really stuck for long. Whereas Lucy hasn't broken anything and still got penalised.
All of this to say that I don't mind this storyline as long as it is treated properly. Besides, it's not like we didn't know it was coming… We were warned since the moment we found out about the detective exam. So I am looking forward to seeing what Lucy will do next. One thing I know is that every time she has been underestimated, she has prevailed and proved herself. But that's part of the issue, isn't it? She still has to prove herself. Despite getting a medal, despite being handpicked for the UC Academy while still being on patrol, despite being chosen to act as Watch Commander for a day, despite being listed as the arresting officers while she was an aide… All of these things that were supposed to help her advance her career weren't enough in the end. Scratch that : it didn't even matter. And that's why it hurts so much. So I really hope that she gets everything she deserves at the end of her arc. That this is going to be her season :)

Percy Jackson and The Olympians Season 1 Review (1/3)
What I like:
It has color! Disney tends to do their live actions shows/series dark or gray ,so I am pleasant to see colors popping up on the screen. Walker's eyes and the orange shirts are a highlight for me!
Set design is impressive! The team behind it did an excellent job. Each cabin is INSANE! Olympus is sooooo marvelous as well!
I was doubting of Lin being casted as Hermes but he proved me wrong and he did a great job
NICO DI ANGELO'S VOICE!
The credits are so cool and cute! Love the art!
Like the casting for Ares, Dionysus, Poseidon, Sally and Hephaestus

I can see why Walker was chosen as Percy. He fits the character so well,has the vibe,the mannerism,the eyes. My only complaint is the hair,they could and should have made him wear a wig. If Miley Cyrus could do it, Walker can! They have the money to buy one,there are not excuses

Sally in the rain while Logical by Liv Rodrigo is playing is incredible,completely in love with that scene! My girl just wants to feel a ounce of how she felt while being with Poseidon,it is so tragic!
The Lightning Bolt and Hades Helmet are sooo cool, really well design,I want them!

The interaction between Poseidon and Percy was cute and I like what Poseidon said about Percy having trouble following rules, but that it was his fault because that is how the ocean is . Super wholesome moment!

Stuff I feel conflicted about:
Even if I love to see what Mythomagic looks like, I feel that making it a demigod stuff instead of Nico's precious hobby takes away from him. The game is in part a connection to his past, to his era, his sister and a side that divides him from the rest. Nico feels like an outcast even among outcasts, and the other demigods feel he is kinda strange. Even Percy, who tried to be friendly, thought Mythomagic was lame. I don't know, I just think it should be only his stuff
What I dislike:
The entire cast looks nothing like their book counterparts and it is distracting to me. I am going to compare it to the One Piece Live Action to explain my feelings. With OP I did not need to be told who was who ; and I already was fangirling that Coby was in the background,or Buggy will be next episode, or Helmeppo is hot for some reason,etc. Here I was like "some dudes are looking at Percy,is he supposed to be Luke? I do not know. He may be,but I am not sure." And hey,look at that ,he turned out to be Luke!. I don't know,I don't love that, it takes away from the experience and characters
Percy was angsty in a way that feels out of character to me. Like,in the books he was sad that his mother "died",obviously,but he still had his kindness. Here, his anger was more reminiscent of Harry after Sirius died in the books. Trashing everything,yelling,full of fury. And it felt wrong for Percy to act like that. For example: in the books when Percy finally wakes up, he tells Grover that they are still friends and that he know he did everything in his power to help him and his mother. In the show Percy is super cold and actively distances himself from Grover until the quest is going to start, and it feels like Percy chose Grover to go with him because that's how the book go, yet Show Percy dont feel particularly excited for Grover to be there,he dont seems to miss him after their fight , nor thinks of him as his best friend. He said himself "finally I have friend" referring to Luke and the other guys in camp,meaning Grover was not. Which takes me to the next point
Grover is treated awfully by the writers. Everyone keeps telling him to go away. Chiron and Mr D. seem tired of him. In Lotus Casino, Percy and Annabeth acted like they were forgiving him for forgetting them,even if they knew it wasn't his fault that he didn't remember. The writers made the naiad give Percy four pearls only to make Grover lose one, which was unnecessary and just makes him look stupid or incompetent. The list goes on,you get the idea. Grover is not treated with respect by either writers or the narrative
We were told but not shown Annabeth's fear of spiders (that is another problem of the show,it tells but don't show), they didn't mention her passion for architecture and dreams of becoming an architect. Also,I don't love the idea of her listening to Luke's plan. My girl is supposed to still have hope for Luke to change his mind,she believes in his kindness and is in negation and defends him when people calls him "evil" for four books in a row. They taking away all these details ,plus she not having a crush on Luke feels like they are taking away what makes Annabeth herself while removing the side of her that is just a teenager girl. She is supposed to be kind as well, that is why people like Frank feel safe asking her for help because he knows she is not going to laugh of him. Here she is way more stoic. You can be smart and warm at the same time,Rick. It is possible, you wrote it that way 18 years ago
Sally yelling to Percy. I know that people say we should not trust Book Percy's POV because he sees his mom as perfect (fair point) but I think that if Percy has such a great perception of her is for a reason. Also ,I am willing to believe that if Percy says his mother never got mad and screamed at him for being expelled from schools,it's because is true. In the show almost all the flashbacks are her shouting at him. Book Sally don't do that because she understands,she knows who Percy's father is,she knows what having a child of him would mean,she knows that the magical and strange stuff that Percy experience is not his fault; that is why she is patient and kind,and what makes her such a great,mature,kind mother; and they took that away from her.
The acting was not the best in the first episodes. Now ,it got better as the show went on, but in the first 3 episodes legit feels like they are reading the script from a carbon board. I do not know if it is because of the directors or lack of experience playing the characters and that is why it improves later on or what, but it is really noticeable
They are skipping or cutting scenes really weirdly , just fading to black and showing the aftermath of situations. Like Sally's car crashing after the Minotaur attack. At one point we see the Minotaur coming, then the screen goes to black and next scene they are crashed. Or with the animal escape we see them in the car and next scene they are in the streets free. It makes the pacing feel strange, takes away the momentum and feels kinda lazy coming from such a big production.
They tell us but do not show the magic in this world and is frustrating! For example, in Narnia no one tells Lucy or us the rules but we see it. With the music cue we know the Wardrobe is special in some way. The she gets inside it and walks backwards,and keeps going and keeps going and keeps going, which is weird, and there are trees! Later, when Mr Tumnus plays his flute, we see that it's magical and makes Lucy fall asleep; and after that she returns to the normal world and we know hours have passed yet Peter is still counting, meaning in our world just have been seconds. In the Percy Jackson's world an easy way to show the magic is with the Mist, but instead they decided to just tell us everything with endless,boring exposition dialogue
Connected with the prev point,they never figure out who any of the creatures/monsters are (except from Echidna) and is boring. Every scene is the trio meeting them and immediately going "you are Medusa", "You are Crusty and here is all the information about you". Yes,the characters know them from myths, but each creature/monster has gone through changes to blend in modern times,making it tricky to be immediately recognizible, that's the fun of the books.
I also feel the world building was lacking. Like people who are watching the show without having read the books do not know there is no Hades Cabin or which Cabin is for which God. Bet some of them think the first three Cabins are for Zeus, Poseidon and Hades but no; Cabin 2 is Hera's and is and always will be empty because she is the goddess of marriage, meaning she is 100% loyal to Zeus. And please correct me if I am wrong, but they did not mention the Mist nor Ambrosia,isn't it? Because I genuinely can not recall. All these details are important and are missing. They are also wasting the opportunity of foreshadow future characters. Like how cool would be to see an 8 year old Will! Or get know Cabin 9 and Beckendorf, that would give Percy a connection with him earlier than in the books and make us book readers hype to see Leo's Cabin!
The friendship with Luke feels underdeveloped. Percy says "finally I have friends" but I feel he barely knows him and we dont even know the name of the other dudes who supposedly are his friends. The show could have benefited from having two full episodes taking place in the Camp and moving the flashbacks from episode 8 to episode 2, it would feel more natural
Luke not having his scar. The reason I think it is important is because for Luke looking himself in the mirror is a constant reminder of his father, his grudge towards him, his quest and the failure it was and the shame he feels about it. All those feelings boiled down inside him and is the reason he joins Kronos. Taking the scar away takes that complexity. See it as the equivalent of Zuko's scar in the Percy Jackson universe

On Charles Gunn and Community
A large part of why I want to write this meta is that I don’t really see many people talking about Gunn. This is not all my thoughts on Gunn, I am going to write more over time. I have stated before that I personally feel that Gunn is in fact a much more complicated character than many here give him credit for.
I posit that the reason for this lack of credit was a larger trend of people in the fandom accepting the narratives presented by white characters regarding the people of color in the show (this is probably more discussed about at this point regarding Spike and Nikki and Robin Wood). While this essay is not entirely about the racism present in the corpus of Angel the Series, it exists in dialogue with more in depth takes on the racism present in Ats.
Gunn is in many respects unique in the buffyverse. There are no other people of color who achieve the status of main cast member, and certainly not for four consecutive seasons. The lack of discussion regarding him is a huge indignity to his character.
Much more care is taken to fleshing out Gunn in season two than in other seasons. In season two Gunn has a life outside of Angel Investigations. He has roots in the city, a community that he has spent his life dedicated to protecting. In season three, after the events of “That Old Gang of Mine” (3x03), this critical aspect of his character is gone.
It would be inaccurate to say that this happens suddenly, but the way it is handled is different in season three. During most of season two, Gunn exists in two worlds, never fully belonging to either. Both the early stages of the Pylea arc and especially “That Old Gang of Mine” throw into sharp focus that the story the writers want to tell with him is that he cannot live in this state of dual existence. “That Old Gang of Mine” depicts the members of Gunn’s old community as violent and unenlightened, with Gunn being pulled in two highly racialized directions: “black” wanton violence, and “white” enlightened application of reason regarding the use of violence. The way the episode portrays people of color is just downright awful, and Ats’s larger portrayal of race actively upholds existing, current stereotypes surrounding people of color.
I would say that Gunn is someone who cares highly about community. Episodes like 1x20 “War Zone,” 2x03 “First Impressions,” and 2x14 “The Thin Dead Line” contrast Gunn heavily with the other three members of AI. Gunn doesn’t fight for some greater ideal like others, but because it helps protect the people around him, as highlighted by @titsgirlbuffy and @punksouthie here:
Gunn’s decisions in “That Old Gang of Mine” are heavily informed by the idea posed by writers that AI and his old community are ideologically opposed. He is forced to choose between the two. The reason he comes to the decision that he does is largely decided by the dynamics at play in the situation. It is only once he is put in a situation where those who he has bonded with are at risk – the showdown in Caritas – that Gunn fully reflects and decides to turn against those in his old community. Gunn recontextualizes the scenario as being about an “out of town” person stirring up trouble within his community only once Angel and Lorne are put at risk. While he says in this gifset that it is about the mission, he does not necessarily argue against demons as an “other” to humans but more argues in defense of Angel *specifically*:
Anne reflecting the existentialist themes of the show back at Gunn in “Never Fade Away” recontextualizes everything. It parallels Doyle’s conversation with Angel in “City of” around the need to not be cut off. In these short two lines of dialogue, so much is said.
This post contains a similar parallel:
In the larger context of the show, we can see that Gunn starts off a paragon of Doyle’s explicitly stated message of what the show is about. He is incredibly entrenched in his local community. He knows the people he interacts with in “First Impressions” and “The Thin Dead Line.” He fights not for an ideal but for others. Over time, as he interacts with AI, he gets increasingly cut off from those that he is helping, moving further and further away from the actual mission of AI.
In his first appearance Gunn recognizes this, actually:
The conversation with Anne is not just about AI having lost its way but also about Gunn losing Everything. The people he has spent years trying to fit in with look at him and see the reason Fred is dead. He has no one and has so thoroughly internalized the values of his white co-workers that when he goes back to help Anne, he is separated from his old community by a vast ideological language barrier.
Brief aside that I might go into in more depth in a later post but I would like you to think about Fred’s death with regard to Gunn’s words here. A missed opportunity with Gunn’s character is exploring how he is impacted by hypervigilance and his tendency for blaming himself for events out of his control:
One interesting direction a rewrite (from a writer’s room with black writers in it) could go is having Gunn become the leader post 2x11 “Redefinition,” leading to closer interaction with the people of LA. AI becomes a much more high-profile member of the community and there is more focus on how Wolfram and Hart enables material harm in high poverty areas. I will talk about this more in the future because I think it is an interesting road to go down.
This post barely scratches the surface of my thoughts on Gunn. I haven’t even explained the take on valuing community fully. I think to fully present my take on that I need to write up at least another full post on it. There is also so much more to write about other things, like more alternate roles Gunn could have filled in AI as I talk about here:

I’m going to do a full rewatch of Star Trek Discovery until the premiere of its final season on April.
I downloaded the whole series and I just checked the first few minutes of Discovery and was hit with a wave of nostalgia and what could have been.
The rich colors, the contrast of blacks, with no blue filter marring it that unfortunately began to pervade Discovery when it moved its filming to mostly the AR wall*. Captain Philippa Georgiu and a great sense of character from the first few minutes— which I assume is a Bryan Fuller special.
(*Speaking of the AR Wall why is a green screen CG landscape better produced and realized than the AR Wall? What is with the blue filters on Disco s3 and s4? Even on Strange New Worlds, the landscapes looked weird.)
However, I am still not a fan of the Discovery!Klingon look. Why is their skin so moist???
Also, I am still not a fan of purely Klingon dialogues. Great that there’s subtitles but augh. I am not one of those fans who want to learn to speak Klingon.
Pushing for a huge change in Klingons with terrible prosthetics was also off-putting.
Ending on a good note before things go to hell— I just really love Captain Georgiu from second 1. She’s the epitome of Starfleet and I wish we could have several more episodes with her and this crew.
I also get why there were some tensions with Fuller because they were just going to use the Shenzhou’s bridge only once and creating a bridge is costly.
The show/s were eventually able to amortize the bones/structure of the Shenzhou turning it into different settings. But I imagine the ballooning costs didn’t help Fuller’s cause, especially when it didn’t make the publicized premiere date.
We don’t really know what his full vision for the show is because he left season 1 before it was completed. And until, I think late into season 3, Discovery has had a troubled behind the scenes production with the writers and showrunners.

tfp starscream ! (cosmics-beings!)
First impression :
So, to contextualize, before watching TFP I watched Cyberverse, and I was just starting to discover Transformers.
I still had trouble remembering the names of the characters, or recognizing them.
So when I watched the first episode of TFP and found that Starscream didn't look like this anymore:
But like this:
I gone crazy.
Also, I found him terrifying at first XD (not to mention Soundwave).
I remember asking my sister to press pause, and I cried saying that Starscream and Soundwave scared me XD. It was especially the claws and the look of Starscream that terrified me.
I also yelled that they changed the colors which caused me to be lost (because I spot a character or image mostly with the colors).
Don't judge me I was discovering Transformers, I was still a novice X).
Impression now :
I love Starscream TFP! Without contest ! He is the most complex and the most brilliant character of the series in my eyes! He's the one who made me love Transformers and the others Starscreams! That's mean a lot!
His character, his way of thinking, there's so much to do with this character that he's a real goldmine.
I like characters with a strong character, and he has a character that is just incredible XD.
Also, he's really cool! We sometimes forget it because Season 3 made a gag of him. But in fact he is incredibly determined, and really strong. Also, he's really pretty X3.
Starscream supremacy !
Favorite moment :
I have a lot of favorite moments with Starscream, but I'll make the effort to name only five X) (that's a lot already… Shhhh…)
1- When he saves Arcee. In fact, I wasn't expecting it, so much that it almost moved me. It really showed me that this character could show pity, when they had never really given him any. It made me really appreciate him.
2- When he flees from Megatron, and manages to fly into a collapsing cave. Do you realize the skill it takes to do that?! It's just impressive!
3- When he goes to look for Breakdown, despite Megatron's orders. I know they're presented this as if he did it for his own benefit. But we must not forget that at the beginning of the episode, he tells Megatron that it is not right to leave Breakdown to his fate. It proves once again that he is much more "empathetic" than the others. Megatron doesn't care, and we never see KnockOut worry about it.
4- His many infiltrations in the Nemesis, which apparently is not very well monitored XD. But one in particular is the chase with the Vehicons, he once again has so much flow in the air, really it's magnificent!
5- The episode in Antarctica, the scene with the Apex Armor is really great. And also it made me happy to see him let off steam a little, knowing that he had been roughed up during the whole episode. And above all, he wins for once! He's the one with the Apex Armor at the end!
Idea for a story :
I had a lot of stories ^^. There is of course "The Polar Star" (of which I am already writing Part 5 in French and Part 4 in English). The novel tells a version where Skyfire exists, and is found by Starscream and Optimus (during episode 13 of Season 2 precisely, with the Apex Armor). I just wanted to give Starscream some love, after being particularly frustrated with Season 3 and the movie.
Summary :
Starscream was never very lucky, he knew it... But he didn’t think he was that lucky! He did not think that going to the Arctic to look for a relic would cause him so many problems... He had already had to avoid being destroyed by Dreadwing, and now he found himself prisoner by Optimus... Really, it was pure bad luck... Besides, because of his inability to fly, because of the damn MECH, he was more than destitute... This day could hardly be worse... When they found themselves in front of the ice block containing the relic, the Seeker noticed that it was not a relic inside... But, someone?! And this person is none other than... Skyfire! The ghosts of the past always end up coming back, often bringing back things that were supposed to be long gone... Things that could well change the future itself...

My other story idea was a novel called "We are the same," and that version takes place at the start of Season 3. Starscream is devastated by the destruction of the Omega Keys, and gives up all reason to live. He then left the Decepticons, and hid in an old military hangar, to let himself starve.
But what he didn't know was that a young human named Adler, who also often thinks of death, always takes refuge in this hangar when he's sad. They will each then meet someone who looks a lot like them, and try to enjoy life together (no ship of course, Adler is only 12 years old!)
Unpopular opinion :
Ok... Ready...? I hate Season 3 and the movie!
And, it's not just that I don't like it, I hate it. I know it's violent, and I wouldn't go so far as to hate for Season 3 (thank you Predaking). But the film is a definite no! There was so much injustice towards Starscream it was heartbreaking to watch!
And Season 3 may be less hateful than the movie to me, but that doesn't take away the fact that the violence against Starscream was just awful. He really never had a break, and I had to put up with that, and not show anything because I wasn't watching alone…!
I showed TFP to a friend, until Season 2, we watched together. Then I asked her to watch Season 3 on her own (I really don't want to watch this season again), and I advised against the film.
Favorite relationship :
Skyfire x Starscream without a doubt! I know that this ship is not possible normally, because Skyfire does not exist in TFP, but I don't care X).
For me, no TFP character deserves Starscream, they were all too bad with him! Except maybe Optimus.
Skyfire was just the touch of sweetness that was missing, and that Starscream needed in my opinion.
Favorite headcanon :
I like to think that Starscream isn't interrested by sexual stuffs or things like that, despite the fact he's looking very "sexy". I like to think that it's embarrassing him to talk about that.

Chapter 5 - If You’re Looking For Fun...

"...and that was the last time I saw him before moving away."
It was weird for Sunny to be talking about Omori as if he was a separate being, especially when he now took the appearance of him ever since being in this strange, dark world.
"Wow Sunny, I..." Aubrey stopped her speech to fully settle her thoughts, "God, that's what you were doing for 4 years?"
"..." Sunny stayed silent. It was good, wasn't it? He finally talked to somebody about his Headspace. He never thought it be important to even mention it, up until his view of it changed so jarringly.
Was all his dreams... really dreams? This world, this Dark World, it felt so different, yet felt so subtly familiar. Was what he experienced those 4 years... was it not just a place for him to escape to? A little fake world to be the hero of... could it be...?
"...H-hey! Look at that! Random stage thing!" Aubrey broke the tension in the air. "Finally, am I right? It felt like we've been walking forever now."
Sunny looked to the path ahead. The glowing lights were finally distinguished as stage lights, placed orderly round a square platform. Pass that, a large, shining city of flashing colors and music awaits them.
The pair stepped up a tiny stairway and onto the wide stage, wooden creaks echoed with each step of the floor.
"Huh," Aubrey observed the area around her, "what's this doing here so far from the city?"
Sunny looked around the empty stage, nothing but the yellow lights were present in this place.
Aubrey shrugged, "Well I guess we can just pass through here then-"
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE YOU MEATBAGS!"
A loud, boisterous voice shrieks across the stage, Sunny and Aubrey nearly stumbling back at the shock of a new entity.
"Wha-! Who are - gha!" Aubrey eyes were forced shut when the stage lights flared even brighter, circling around before pointing to 2 shadowed figures the opposite sides of her.
"Don't think you can just skip the next part of this act!" one of the figures said, his voice more nasally then his companion.
Aubrey and Sunny slowly focused their eyes at the opposing duo as the lights settled down around them. They identified their brown shoes, which covered short gray legs. Further up were pairs of round trousers, one red and the other blue. Upper more were inky black bodies that connected to white gloves. They seemed almost like exact clones of each other, the only difference them were their heads, almost resembling...
...a pair of ceramic cups?
"This might as well be the last act too!" the red cup announced. "Because now it's time for..."
"The Cuphead Show!"
The pair of childhood friends stare confounded at the brothers before them, the stage now filled with the color of yellow, and the lights shining upwards to the dark sky above.
"Um, actually it's the Cuphead AND Mugman show, hehe..." The blue trousered man timidly corrected.
"Sunny, aren't those guys cartoon characters?" Aubrey whispered near Sunny's ear. They did in fact watch something like "The Cuphead Show" airing on Frisk's TV one day. Sunny recalled the plot usually follows the 2 brothers, Mugman and the shows namesake, Cuphead, get into trouble and somehow getting by in the end, usually started by one or both of them being dumb. Aubrey only recalled the Devil guy being kind of funny.
"Well howzabout that! You guys actually know some old street smarts!" Cuphead called out. "Looks like kids these days still dig the classics!"
"Uh, Cuphead," Mugman leaned towards his brother, "They must've just seen our reboot show. We just finished the 2nd season a week ago!"
"What do you guys even want..." Aubrey was honestly getting tired of annoying duos at this point, and she's only been here for 10 minutes.
"Word has it you're the new hot shots 'round here," Cuphead leaned his head towards the two humans, "We was thinkin' we'd do a little crossover between us. A show packed with explosives, falling anvils, maybe even an encounter with the Ol' Devil!"
"Those all sound completely lethal," Sunny managed to speak out with slight fear in his tone, Aubrey inclined to agree.
"Whaddya mean? None of you's got toon insurance? Can't walk off a little bruisen'?" Cuphead tilts in confusion.
"Cuphead, I don't think they want to work with us..."
"Nonsense Mugsy!" Cuphead interrupted his brother, "Remember what Elder Kettle taught us? If you don't succeed the first time..."
Cuphead pointed his one of his finger at the sky, a flash of orange light enveloping it, before a blast of firey energy shot out of his pointer. Sunny and Aubrey step back in shock, then flinch as the bright projectile collides with the dark sky, giant stacks of casino tokens crashing down from up above, riddling the stage with red and blue.
"...you DOUBLE DOWN!"
"Pretty sure he never said that."
[ *A brawl is surely brewin'! Now go!]

After a year of being in basically hiatus, Dark of Many Names is up and running!
To be perfectly honest, this chapter WAS going to be the longest one yet (like 20+ pages worth) but I've figured that maybe setting high standards for a beginning fic writer is maybe a bad idea, so consider this chapter part one of two!
Also, yeah! Cuphead! The AU has been expanded, both in the Dark World and the Real World, and the cups are just the start! Don't get the wrong idea, they AREN'T going to be part of the CORE4 (OMORI, UTDT, Yume Nikki's main characters and associated ghost friends), none of them will be. They will act as guest stars in a way, maybe serving as background cameos, and perhaps star in a comic or two. As long as they’re considered Indie Games (don't want to get TOO crazy here), they get a shot at appearing! Either way I already have to balance out 8 Main Characters right now and I plan to keep it that way!

I lead part of EfM thing today (see earlier posts) and it went well ahhhhh thank God
and I've made my lunches for the next week!

I've barely worked on my longer fic this weekend (other than copy/pasting a bunch of things Nate said after the show ended into the notes section of the doc) and tbh rewatching the ACTUAL SHOW is hella distracting bc with twenty eps left we're going to start getting into more of the really high-stakes stuff
Also, true story: I originally watched, like, the second half of season 4 and all of season 5 in two days of marathoning with Daci. So quite frankly? The last, like, third of the show is just kind of a blur to me now.

The rain and ocean sounds are great on earbuds to cover up snoring so you can sleep!!! Worked better than my fancy earplugs while I was on the Camino and sleeping in all those hostels)

Opinion on Ren?
Ahhh, Ren.
He was a good support for around six years and his volume four arc with the Nuckelavee Grimm was pretty a-okay, nothing super special, but the biggest problem with his character in the first six seasons was the lack of attention paid to him in things like not letting him grieve Pyrrha and not showing his actual friendships develop + dragging out his romance with Nora (which should've started happening in volume 4 or at the very least in V6.)
V7 muddied the waters, making Ren have this arc where everyone was supposed to be mad at him for being a horrible friend and partner because he *checks notes* doesn't tell Nora every single thing he feels as soon as he feels them and didn't feel ready to date her and didn't like being forcibly yanked into a kiss he'd just made it clear he didn't want. I was already feeling sorry for Ren in V7, but then V8 included him being the only member of the team other than Ruby to even consider 'maybe we're not doing that good maybe we're in over our heads' which was, you know, just the truth. However, all Ren got for his troubles was scolded for being such a horrible person to ever doubt their perfection. And then Ren got a semblance upgrade that let him identify people's mood, like a mood ring, and he somehow understands what every color means immediately, and I guess the only person who can feel more than one thing at a time is Winter, and I guess Ren just is intuitive enough to determine exactly what people think based off of their one single feeling - like telling Marrow doesn't want to do what he's doing just because Marrow is sad. And it's like... The dumbest most hand-of-the-author semblance until Neo's V9 upgrade, and used terribly. But apparently acquiring the semblance was enough to make Ren randomly decide he was stupid for thinking or feeling the 'wrong' things and he suddenly was just like "actually everyone is right we're perfect :) :) No one needs to confront any mistakes :) :) I was being a bad friend and partner for not immediately doing whatever Nora wanted and it was wrong of me to have any reservations about our relationship :) :) It's a good thing fearless Jaune is here to be perfect unlike me :) :) Gee I sure am glad Nora forced a kiss on me :) I was one hundred percent wrong :) So glad I stopped thinking any of us need to change :) Better start making sure I express all my emotions the way Nora does because being reserved is a sign of a bad guy :) :) :)"
I mean, what a sucky way to deal with the character. I like Ren okay but less now that he switched around in V8, and I'm really anticipating that the only thing his character will be used for from here on in is just getting together with Nora officially. I still like him, but since his type of character isn't the type of character I gravitate towards usually, I just don't find him particularly interesting with how they've handled him, which sucks because he has a lot of potential! But past being indignant on his behalf and then rolling my eyes over how he switched around to the rwbyjnor group think, I just think Ren's good-ish but not a character I really gravitate towards.

5x03 : Border (My POV)
Back at home after seeing Hannah on big screen, June cannot stop thinking about the color her daughter was wearing. While Luke does not seem worried. As I already said: He did a beautiful scrapbooking during all these years, he did not notice colors mean somethings at Gilead. Really? I suspect June to have an idea. Particularly when Moira says: It is not pink, though. She is not a little girl anymore.
I am surprised they did not try to find a replay on the Internet. They could have make some screenshots. I would have liked to see June take a break from the video on Nick in this episode but especially later in the season. Because she really made me feel like she did not give a f***. Do not tell me she tries to be happy with Luke. I absolutely do not buy this s***. She thinks of Nick only when she needs him.
When you are in love, you can try to not think or talk of this person. Whether you want it or not, you do not decide because your heart does not follow any rules. And we have a perfect example later in the same episode: Nick's fantasy.
I wonder how long Moira has known of the existence of a group at the border. Does it mean that she could have sent messages to June when her friend was still at Gilead? In any case, it seems to show that in seven years Luke has not struggled to find ways to find his wife (or to contact her) other than through Mark. And some people dare to say that he could not do anything. This prove the opposite.
Lawrence's guests arrive to his house. We discovers finally Commander Mackenzie (who wears two stars on his jacket). I am intrigued by his line: We would hate to miss a chance to see Rose or a chance to get to meet her new husband. New husband? I wonder what happened to the previous one? And who he was?
I find it really weird the way Serena and Nick look at each other. Is he afraid of her judgment about Rose? Is she surprised to see him at this dinner? It is weird or I missed something. Anyway it is nice to see Nick and Rose interacting together.
At the table, despite his training in masking his emotions, Nick begins to have trouble not letting anything show when June is mentioned, not in a pleasant way.
Back to border, June and Moira keep busy while waiting for Nick's call. We learn a little more about Mayday's help to Gilead's people. When suddenly they hear screams outside. A guardian arrives with Rachel, a young teenager who wears eco's clothes. He cannot stay because he has a wife and a kid : I cannot leave them behind. He could be free but he cannot because he cares about his family.
Under a bandstand, Mark is waiting the end of the evening for drive Serena back to the hotel. I love the fact that Nick comes to meet him because he wants to make sure he will be the first to talk of Rose to June. It is a delicate attention on his part.
About the phone call, I did not change idea. June is relieved to hear Nick's voice. As in S4E09, he exactly knows why she contacts him and as on the bridge S4E03, he tries to reassures her: Hannah is safe. I did not get to talk to her but she is okay.
June asks to Nick to take risks without to think he could be in a shitty situation because of Fred’s death: I know it is a lot to ask, but maybe you could transfer to her district. You can watch out for her. He had just said: I am sorry I cannot do more.
In S4E09, Nick already proved to June he is always there for Hannah if he can: I knew you would keep looking for her, so I started putting some stuff together. Never thought I had give it to you in person […] And I am here … to do what I can.
Max Minghella says: Nick is always been quite keen to orchestrate some kind of reunion between June and Hannah. And help reinstate that family unit but at the same time he is in love with June. At this point, if Hannah was safe in Canada with her parents, I wonder if June would still care about Nick. If we can call it: caring.

I had purple, pink, then blue hair for a while. I miss it, actually. I have a jaw too small for all my teeth so I had to wear braces (and a retainer, before and after). I got some form of metal contraption in my mouth between 12 and 16 (which uh, sounds terrible written down lol).

I met someone I was friend with online when I was 16, she was significantly older than I was and i ended up spending the day with her & two friends of hers in a flat somewhere in my city I didn't know... it was harmless, if a little boring, but looking back now that was NOT my wisest move 😅.

I am very lucky because I live on an island, so I get to enjoy the beach and the ocean (tho often a bit too cold to swim in ;_;), and it snows every winter so I also get to enjoy my favorite kind of weather.

As a child I was terribly car sick (can't be in a car more than 10 minutes without puking kind of sick), and the only way to avoid it was to sleep. So while I can now read in the car, I still automatically starts feeling a little sleepy in cars.

And S1 of What If? comes to an end with the Watcher breaking his oath. Truly the godzilla threshold has been met. :D
So recruit number one in the Watcher's fight with Ultron is Evil Strange - a good choice. He won't want anyone else to suffer what he has, being the sole survivor of his reality.
This episode picks up with Peggy at the start of what must be her universe's version of the events of The Winter Soldier. So Natasha's match maker instincts come off more as flirting with Peggy than they do with Steve. Or maybe I just like Peggy/Natasha better than Steve/Natasha? I dunno.
Anyway, Peggy is recruit number 2. Followed by Starlord T'Challa. Gamora - from an episode I think I remember hearing was pushed back to the second season. (The Not You Stark is funny) Killmonger next. Thor, who is not paying attention, until the Watcher picks him up.
They are the Guardians of the Multiverse. I do love it. :D
Thor - *is annoying*
Strange - You picked him.
The Watcher - *silence*

Strange is having a bit of trouble keeping his form. Now that he's not ripping reality apart for selfish reasons, I do feel a lot more sorry for him. He's shit at speeches, though. Thankfully T'Challa bails him out.
Thor - I know how to deal with this Party Pooper. Viva Los Vegas!!!
Ultron - Have not heard that one before

Oh, the zombies are back. Not a bad plan.
And there's Natasha, making new friends. But can they successfully play keep away with the soul stone?
Where's Zola during all this, anyway? He was still with Natasha at the end of the last ep...
Ah, there he goes, finally using the other stones to retrieve the one he lost... but of course Strange has a time stone of his own...
Thor is still using Vegas as a battle cry. I love it.
Seriously, though, where is Zola? Well... at least there's still an arrow with Zola on it, but what about the drone??? Oh well, Natasha gets to be badass with an arrow to honor Clint. That's cooler.
Right in the eye. Ouch.
So out with one bad guy and in with another. Zola has the imagination Ultron lacks, which I assume is why he wins. Of course, now they've got Zola to deal with. And Killmonger showing his evil colors...
Killmonger vs Zola for a cosmic tug of war over the stones and Strange figures out what the Watcher really intended, which was sticking those two in a pocket dimension to fight for eternity. I do like it. :D
The Watcher sending everyone home. And giving Natasha a new home. Awww, he does have a heart.
That was fun. :D
And then in the epilogue, Natasha leads Peggy into the depths of the ship and... the Hydra Stomper. With someone inside. I am so curious.
I hope we get another season at some point - I'd love to see the universe Gamora came from. And, uh, maybe not have Tony get killed off for a change? (The only surviving version of him here was basically a cameo. Let's give him a bit better?)

FAVORITE INSTRUMENT: I think vocals count? I’m not actually very knowledgeable when it comes to instruments, but a good vocal performance gives me chills.
AESTHETIC: I mostly go for a creepy/cute feel with a mix of kidcore and horrorcore, but I don’t actually believe in sticking to one aesthetic. There’s a lot of vintage, grunge, gothic, and fantasy laying around here too.
FAVORITE AUTHOR: Uhh, I don’t really have one! I pay more attention to the books than who wrote them, if that makes sense. Watership Down is my all time favorite book though, so I guess Richard Adams?
FAVORITE COLOR: Any shade of blue, but any color can be beautiful with the right scheme! I tend to lean towards schemes with blues, blacks or purples the most.
FAVORITE ANIMAL SOUNDS: Tiny cat mews. :,)
LAST SONG: Africa by Toto. It was on the radio in the car when my mom and I ran to the store yesterday lol.
LAST SERIES: Like a show? I don’t really watch a lot of series, I have trouble starting new things,,, I think the last thing I binged was Arcane. Can’t wait for the next season! Now, if we’re talking video games, I’m working through Psychonauts! Finished the first game a while ago, watched a playthrough of ITROR and am now working on Psychonauts 2.
RANDOM: Uhh, have a spider character I drew. I got really mad about how much potential the character Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel has and decided to make my own spider character loosely based on him, but more suited to my personal tastes lol. His name is Magenta. (PLEASE ignore how uneven the back pattern is. I’m aware. I am not a great artist.)

re: your tags, glad to hear the duretti bit was amusing, (curious though, was it the straight flag or the ph*lic symbol bit?) i wasn’t going to include him originally but then i had a metaphorical lightning strike moment ala duretti (albeit his was very literal) when i thought of what to out for his section
on mary, yes exactly she’s that meme, her not caring for nonbinary as a label is a bit complicated, because of stuff like finding a lot of the labels or terms used to talk about nonbinary experiences clunky or ill fitting (i,e a lot of people who are neither transmasc or transfemme being labeled transneutral regardless of if they actually present that way and/or id as such) and the frequent erasure of nonbinary people of color in too many chunks of communities, but mainly and mostly yeah it’s just that meme, i have a job i don’t need to worry about it rn, who cares
on adriel, idk? i just thought the vrigins were so that the fbc would like unlock a new steam achievement or the demon possession of vrigins would theoretically be extra powerful, human sacrifices, and/or adriel was like “what do you have there?” FBC with virgins they’re planning to do magic rituals with: a smoothie adriel: y’know what i’m not even gonna ask, carry on
thirdly it’s so cool to see a columbo fan, i didn’t realize before seeing your columbo posts th there was an actual fandom for the show beyond a good chunk of boomers, and having grown up watching it whenever my dad would play episodes, seeing posts have kicked off a good bout of nostalgia

the columbo of it all,,,, I love columbo. I love my lil detective. there's sooo many good episodes, here's an inconclusive list of my faves (since I haven't watched all of columbo, I'm only midway thru season 7 rn)
season 1:
murder by the book: any time jack cassidy is in a columbo episode you just KNOW it's gonna be good. the whole mystery gets undone by a horny grocery store clerk. I am not kidding. (also fun fact steven spielberg directed this one!)
lady in waiting: this woman is UNHINGED she is a GENIUS she is an IDIOT I hate her I love her she is EVERYTHING TO ME, DO YOU UNDERSTAND? she's the original evil girlboss
season 2: season 2 has like nothing but good episodes tbh you can't go wrong with a season 2 episode
etude in black: is so cleverly done, I love it I love it I love it.
dagger of the mind: is literally just macbeth. the shakespeare of it all is absurd I love it. the blocking of the final scene where it's the murderers with wax statues in mourning behind them like an actual greek chorus. it's insane. I'm obsessed with it. that's CINEMATOGRAPHY BABES
a stitch in crime: this one has leonard nimoy in it, which should be reason enough for you to watch it.
the most dangerous match: were you obsessed with chess the musical in highschool? this is for you.
double shock: columbo becomes the heartthrob of housewives everywhere after he appears on a cooking show. again, I am not kidding.
season 3: again, all hits! no flops!!
any old port in a storm: wine maker has intense homoerotic tension with columbo. columbo is a lil flattered by it.
publish or perish: jack cassidy. need I say more?
swan song: johnny cash is in this one!!
season 4: from here on out, ymmv
negative reaction: dick van dyke plays a very fun killer!
troubled waters: the BEST murder scene on columbo hands down
season 5: there's a rumor I think that this was supposed to be the last season, so they took some wild swings.
forgotten lady: the way this one resolves made me cry! one of the top columbo episodes of all time!!
now you see him: !JACK! CASSIDY! seriously this is one of my other top columbo eps of all time
last salute to the commodore: the last ep of columbo at the time. very self indulgent. it's so funny.
season 6:
old fashioned murder: I think the most clever murderer we've had? the end scene where he does the ultimate kindness of telling her family that he was lying. god. that gets me. lieutenant firstname columbo ur my best boy
season 7:
murder under glass: OH it's a tasty episode.
make me a perfect murder: I know she did a murder but I think the murder she did was justified like she deserved to go apeshit just this once.
