There isn't much discourse about how Mike went from saying that El was a weapon in s1, even encouraging the others to use El's powers when she was still recuperating after finding Will in the void, to then in s3 accusing the others of being reckless with her powers, saying she's risking her life for no reason.

Now, I want to make clear that I'm not bashing Mike here, this has less to do with what he's doing being right or wrong. What this is about is how Mike went from doing something himself, to calling out other people for doing it, without acknowledging that fact and why the writers chose to frame it all this way.

You might think it's insignificant, but these two following scenes are clearly being paralleled to each other. And so the fact that Mike himself is acknowledging this as something to be critical of, makes me wonder what exactly is going on in his mind...

I want to preface this scene from s1 by saying that Mike is giving very off vibes here. I know that I certainly viewed this scene as romantic the first time I saw it, but since rewatching it recently, I was getting completely different vibes.

They literally make a point to focus on Mike being distracted, on the verge of impatience. Then, the way El reacts upon Mike getting up abruptly, gives this feeling of uncertainty about Mike's consideration for her in this moment, as she's clearly not what's on the top of his mind right now. And it just makes you wonder, are we truly supposed to be feeling peak romance rn?

I never realized how out of place this scene was until now (or is it...). It's just such an odd choice to have El resting her head on Mike's shoulder for comfort, only for Mike to cut it short with him being distracted, and with Dustin and El looking awkwardly at Mike like "Okay?...", then followed by a scene where he's trying to convince the others to use El's powers to help.

Here we have s1 Mike displaying behavior that s3 Mike was calling out the others for displaying:

Here we have Lucas, who was very, very critical of El being dangerous ALL of s1, and yet now in complete contrast to that, he is showing more consideration and common sense for El's well being than Mike, the supposed love (at first sight) interest ...

'That's the most important thing, remember?'

A question, followed by Mike just standing there in silence, like he's only just now really thinking about El being safe as their main priority... This is something that combined with everything else unfolding over the course of this season and the seasons after, that makes Mike's behavior a whole lot easier to understand.

I'll have to make several other posts about this, because there are a lot of aspects to it, but for now I'm just going to focus on these two parallels.

Here we have what happens in s3, with Mike being critical of the others doing something he himself literally did in s1:

In fact, how careless all of you are.

THIS. When Mike makes it a big deal to call out everyone for doing something he himself has already done, he's outright admitting that it's something that he believes is wrong, and by not even slightly acknowledging his role in doing something similar in the past, it's very likely that he feels guilty about it.

This was probably his way of trying to make it right, by standing up for El in a way that he didn't before because he was treating her like some superhero and not a real person back then.

It's just that the word love slipped out, in the heat of the moment. And El, upon overhearing this, is seeing this development of Mike herself, with s1 Mike going from, yes being more kind and considerate than the other 2 boys in the beginning, but still sort of expecting stuff from her without her being able to verbally agree to it, to now having developed and changed to saying that one of his big priorities is her safety.

El is taking this as being evidence he went from not loving her, to loving her. Another reason why it's pretty obvious El didn't believe Mike's monologue, bc she herself witnessed Mike develop his apparent romantic feelings for her over time, and so him saying it was love at first sight, was probably the catalyst that made it abundantly clear to her that he wasn't being truthful, bc she knows it's not the truth. She's not stupid.

Again this isn't about Mike doing this back then or even the others doing it now as being bad vs. good, this is about the writers going about it this way, sending a message that Mike feels guilt, enough to try to make things right, but is apparently not ready to unpack the actual guilt that is beneath the surface which lead him to this point.

And then there's this scene, which... it's actually terrifying how obvious it is they instructed Sadie and Caleb to lean out of that shot with Will and Mike reacting to El entering the room... Like... It's SOO obvious when you watch it now what they're trying to hint at without saying it.

Not only are they hinting at Will's feelings, because that is part of it, they're also hinting at Mike's internal struggle. Will is always on the back of his mind whether he's willing to address it or not. And all while that is happening, he is feeling unaddressed guilt about how he treated El when they first met and spent that one week together helping her run away from the bad guys while also looking for Will, something Mike viewed as being worthy of El using her powers...

I'll have to make the other posts regarding this soon, because it all starts to click what's going on with Mike when you look at all of these things together.

While Mike is just a kid like pretty much everyone else in this story, and while he didn't mean any harm by asking El to help them find Will (none of them did), I think that's kind of the whole point?

I think that he got lucky superman landed on his doorstep, who just so happened to be in danger herself, giving him his own purpose to help her too, with her needing him as well, and so it became a situation where they both needed each other.

But because El could literally not speak, it's not like she could really voice her feelings about things they were doing, beyond yes and no. She had Lucas sort of being critical of her, with Mike encouraging El to do things that would make the others see her as being worthy of sticking around so they can find Will. It goes without saying she felt obligated to do these things, even if they didn't outright tell her she had to or else. We literally see almost all of these scenes with her doing stuff for the others being instantly juxtaposed with scenes of Brenner doing the same. It's not the same scale of severity, but it is an acknowledgment that although she is outside of the lab, she still feels like her powers are what define her and it's all people want from her.

I think what it comes down to, is that in that moment when she is sacrificing herself to the demogorgan at the end of s1, we are seeing in real time Mike realizing what he and the other's have been asking of her this whole time, without outright asking her.

And you can literally see the retaliation and devastation hit him all at once. The instant regret, where he's backtracking and El stops him from even trying.

'Goodbye Mike' singles him out, because while he was the one out of the three that showed her the most kindness from the start, he was also the one who at the end of it all, was still expecting her to risk her life for them...

And that just makes it hit so much harder when you think about how that made Mike feel in that moment.

And then in s2 how that impacts Mike and his journey going forward.

His breakdown at the end of s2 upon her return.

His behavior in s3-4, in relation to him juggling his relationship with Will and El, now that they are both in his life at the same time.

It all starts to make sense.

I won't go too much into it because those other posts are bound to be long with a bunch of pictures too!

But on that note, there's at least one thing Mike isn't acknowledging, and it's literally what led up to the unintentional love confession that then led us to 10 more episodes of miscommunication because of it...

It's going to be important for him to address this guilt for him to fulfill his arc and to also close off his expectations that he has to have a romantic relationship with El in order to keep her in his life at all.

The audience themselves seeing this and being forced to face it is also going to make it a lot easier for them understand why Mike did what he did, not only because he's a queer kid in the 80's who has every reason to doubt and repress, but also because he understandably feels sort of indebted to El after everything.

It's more complex than him just falling out of love with her and falling in love with Will because of XYZ.

I think there is a lot of guilt and shame and trauma connected to their meeting and the events that followed. And addressing that is going to give a lot of closure to the ending of the story and also the beginning.

Natsu training Sasuke!! I’m curious to see how their relationship will develop, now that Sasuke’s perspective of Natsu has changed from ‘reliable brother figure’ to ‘reliable brother figure + teacher + goal + caretaker’ of sorts. Knowing Sasuke’s character in the anime, this probably marks the start of an intense rivalry that’s likely one-sided on his part for a long time..

I’m also curious how Natsu’s ‘mentor’ relationship with Sasuke will affect the canon rivalry between Sasuke and Naruto. Perhaps this will also affect Natsu’s relationship with Naruto somehow? With Naruto maybe wondering why his beloved bro is teaching both his friends but not him

It’s sad to see Natsu finding it hard to face Sasuke, being reminded of all the angst with Shisui and Itachi. They’re all so precious 😭

Hinata standing up for her friends (and herself)! I love their little trio, but seeing them interact with Natsu on the side also drives home the fact that Shisui and Itachi are gone… also the line abt Natsu still being reluctant to return to any empty apartment… 😭😭 Eagerly awaiting Natsu interacting with more of Konoha 12! 1) Natsume does, in fact, handle most of the cooking. Naruto is actually learning rather well (with Natsume’s influence) but he can’t be trusted to cook things on a stove because he gets distracted too easily. Sasuke can make cereal. In the end, Natsume tries to cook huge portions to keep leftovers for as many days as possible because he can’t actually cook every night. Otherwise they end up getting takeout maybe a little too frequently…

2) There is still only one bedroom for now! It’s not going to last long with three growing boys, tbh… Naruto and Natsume have resumed sharing a bed, giving Sasuke the other one. Sometimes if Natsume feels too crowded, he’ll just sleep on the couch instead. Seems like a problem that needs to be solved soon… :)

I wasn’t sure if I should post this but I mostly want it archived so here we go. This is from like,, September?

So. “An Innocent Sin” is a dumpster fire unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I don’t remember why I decided to read it. maybe I was crazy. Either way... I read it. It soon started to touch upon (very very outlandish) sexual abuse which I thought was interesting. (the angst, not so much some of the wack circumstances surrounding it)

ANYWAY. at some point... we have a flashback. And not just that. It has a gay character.

And it turns rly gay. which mind you, is still in a het smut manwha (that has a “gay” side couple, but still!)

And it destroyed me.

For those who want to read it because I genuinely think the flashback is a decent bit, it’s all the bonus chapters between chapter 77 and 78 I think. There’s a part before that too, but idk where exactly anymore. (It’s on lezhin! or your platform of choosing)

Jackson would put himself in mortal danger KILL HIMSELF to make sure he is the best...to make sure he is NEEDED. To make sure no one forgets about him or abandons him. He would dump lydia and throw venomous words at her to feel powerful but also to keep up appearances in front of people who he thinks are watching. Also to make sure lydia can’t leave him because he’s already left her. He soo afraid of being who he is he denies his own sexuality. He’s afraid of loosing everything.

Stiles: no even gonna waste my time...stiles was RIDDLED with issues but i feel like they did the best they could 

Boyd and Erica: thye were cast aside like the nobodies the writers wrote them as...built up all this back story about how derek was like the pied piper of making kids into monsters and how he CONVINCED THEM to take the bite. How erica was bullied/ignored to the point of breakdowns and how boyd was ignored by everyone (probably because he was the ONLY black kid at that damn school) finally they find ppl who care about them and BAM dead

The Society

*SPOILERS*

Okay, so the following is my take on the new Netflix show ‘The Society’. 

I liked the society a lot, set in a dystopian world in which all of the parents and younger children disappear it shows promise for following seasons. Such as finding ways to develop, for lack of a better word, a society. Also, dealing with limited food, no escape, and confounding variables of being alive in a world they know nothing about. 

When it comes to originality of the show it lacked it quite a bit, the storyline of this story is one that has been used quite a bit. I know there is a difference than basing it off of something and having it be similar to something. 

The Sparticle Project - A story about a bunch of teenagers in Great Britain who from one moment to the next lose all of their parents and everyone above the age of, i think 19. The whole story was that their parents were moved into an alternate dimension in which the kids needed to find their way back to. When i started watching ‘The Society’ i thought of this show immediately, the only thing that i find different between the two is that ‘The Society’ is way more formulated and has direct ties to nowadays, rather than ‘The Particle Mystery’ In which, in my opinion was kinda dumb because they were just running around Britain searching for something that they didn't even knew existed.

Gone (Book Series) - In a dystopian society, the kids of the world are put against one side of an impenetrable energy barrier and the parents on the other side. These kids need to learn to survive amongst themselves while dealing with supernatural abilities that they have. Now i know this one is far-fetched when it comes to the supernatural abilities but the part that I'm paying attention to is the sequestering of the children from their parents. 

These 2 instances really hit me when i was doing my research on the show because, well...  have nothing better to do with my life than fall down plot holes and internet spirals about a tv show. Hehe *Laughs and Cries at the same time*

Characters

Cassandra

Fearless leader and got more crap than she deserved, she was just trying to make the best out of a bad situation. I didn't like her relationship with Gordie though, she knew all he wanted was her, and she played him like a fiddle. A pretty toxic relationship.

Allie

Power Hungry. But what can you do when over 130 teenagers have no leader and your sister was killed by one of them. I get where she is coming from, but many of her decisions could have been avoided if she had the council election when she came into power. 

Will

Utterly Hated him. Honest to god one of the worst characters out there. I think that the way that he played both Allie and Kelly was ass. At the beginning he was all like “I can't do this Allie” then he was like “Allie lets do this” Then “IDK Allie, and he fucked Kelly” Then it was “Allie are you ok? Lets be together.” Listen bitch make up your fucking mind. 

The Guard (Luke, Clark, and Jason)

I get why by the end of the season they were unhappy, SO i don't blame them for wanting power. Who i do blame is Luke for going along with it. He could have told Helena about it and got her #GirlPower squad to get her guns and take back control. But no. The high school jocks really did... That. 

Harry, Lexie and Campbell

Terrible People all around. Harry kept getting depressed because he didn't have anyone to do his work for him cause sis was rich. AWW that fucking white privilege. Harry and his intentions for the town were complete garbage and he really does not deserve to live but the need for an antagonist is palpable. Lexie on the there hand had good intentions but turned awry, she really sucks. For no good reason. She really doesn’t know how to be a leader as shown by the finale when she shows compassion for Allie. Campbell, a legit psychopath, i hope will die in season 2. The whole, antifreeze in the pie, really shows how close to death he is. I think that Allie is going to kill him to regain power season 2. Season 2, these ppl boutta fall and fall hard.

Kelly, Gordie and Bean

Goodness, though 2 of these people have made questionable choices and said things that legit blasted me into orbit i love these three with all of my heart. Bean really tried to help everyone and i can see the producers giving her a bigger role next season because i can see she was under represented this season; she is legit the best. Kelly, though split between Will and Harry really gave all that shit up to be a self-actualized doctor. Same goes with Gordie, he was a creep, still kinda is... but he actually cares for all of the people now that Cassandra is dead.

Elle and Helena

Okay i love both of these characters so much I just feel like Elle has to learn to stick up for herself. I think she is going to play a vital role in the demise of campbell. Helena is such a good character but with a bitch for a boyfriend, she is probably going to lead New Ham after they get Allie, and work side-by-side with her.

Becca, Sam, and Grizz

OOOOOOH. Y’ALL BOUTTA GET A PARAGRAPHHHHH. OK, i love Becca and i think that her and Eden are going to be the best Mother-Daughter Duo in the world. The only problem i have with her is probably the fact that she is lying about the identity of her baby’s father. It is under speculation that it may be someone that maybe sexually assaulted her or that it may have been one of the parents. 

Okay. Sam and Grizz... MY BABIES. Okay we love grizz for his cute ass and not just wanting to have sex with Sam, he actually flirted and learned some ASL and it was the cutest thing in the world. He deserves love and protection at all costs. He is amazing. Was it just me or did this man cry so freaking much but it was so pure, because he is so adorable. Grizz is going to have a lot of trouble coming out because now the guard has turned on everyone, and Sam is the “father” of Becca’s baby. I think Grizz is really happy with sam and the fact that they both promised to see each other after he came back gives me hope for the  relationship. Also Sam is such a pure boyo, and he and Campbell are gonna have a lot more problems in season 2 when campbell finds out that he and Grizz are together. I love all three of these characters so much and they deserve the world. 

Ask me questions, send me shows, talk to me about ‘The Society’ because i have minimal things left to do with my life and this is the best use of my time.

DESCENDANTS 3 - REVIEW

WARNING! SPOILERS UNDER THE  CUT, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE!! from this point onwards, reading is on your responsibility. you have been warned.

Alright, Descendants 3, where to begin with this...

First off, thinking that this is Cameron Boyce’s last movie ever, it makes me feel very sentimental and sad and I hope that the movie would’ve done him justice more. But I’m afraid that  while it was a cute and aesthetically pleasing movie, that is about it.

After watching it a couple of times now, I have one word for D3: clusterfuck. I’m not going to lie. D1 was great, D2 was good but D3 wasn’t really the ending this saga deserved. NOW KEEP IN MIND that I haven’t read the books and I personally think that the movie still should take time to explain things. Plus the books came after the first movie anyway so...

In a nutshell, the plot is inconsistent, the movie is rushed and lot of the character development (save from Mal’s and Audrey’s) is pretty much murdered and just ditched away. 

Beginning with a song like (Good to Be Bad) like every Descendant movie, it gives the movie the energy that it lacks towards the end. The VK’s choose Smee’s sons, Celia and Dizzy to come to the Isle and return to Auradon, only to get them after giving them time to pack their things.

Next thing we see, Ben and Mal are getting ready to embark to the Isle with the VK’s. They stop in front of the Beast statue though and Ben sings (short acoustic verse “Did I Mention”) to Mal, then proposing to her. Audrey is not pleased but hey she’s back and damn she’s rocking that hair! 

Now this is where things go a bit off the rails. I understand Audrey still holding resentment to Mal even though at the end of D1 she seemed to be amicable with her so - what’s the dealio Audrey? Of course we can assume that her resentment grew back during D2 - the movie she wasn’t in. Her grandmother is there and basically gives Audrey shit cause she lost Ben to Mal (like wth is it with this hatred from grandma, chill out lady...).

Mal, Ben and VK’s go to the Isle and while they’re leaving back Hades tries to break out and use his ember but Mal fights him (as a dragon) and gets him back inside. In Auradon, Audrey sits in her room and embraces her darkness (”Queen of Mean”, one of the best songs in my opinion, holy shit), stealing the Queen’s crown and Maleficent’s staff turning to Dark!Audrey and suddenly possessing magic and knowing how to use it without any training? Okaaay, shady much? I mean it could be the staff also controlling her so I’ll give the benefit of a doubt here.

Alright so Hades tried to get out, Mal makes the hard decision to shut down the barrier forever with Ben after reasoning with him and feeling guilt for possibly endangering Auradon. Cut to Evie’s little cottage-manor, Audrey pays Mal a visit, cursing her to turn into a hag. That kind of didn’t really serve a purpose in anywhere else than maybe Audrey’s mind if she thought that Ben wouldn’t love her? Idk man. Anyway, Mal can’t reverse the spell because “there’s nothing that can reverse the staff’s spell”. Oh but waaait....

The VK’s decide to get Hades’ ember, going to the Isle and suddenly Mal turns back again because dark magic doesn’t work in the Isle. So... Mal/VK’s just forgot that? I doubt it because they did live there for such a long time. Oh well, moving on. Celia is with them cause she runs errands to Hades. Meanwhile in Auradon, Jane’s having her birthday party and Audrey crashed it, cursing everyone asleep. Except Jane cause she jumps into the Magic Lake - again something that can reverse the staff’s spell that is supposedly non-reversable? Did anyone actually fact-check the script, I wonder... And well - she takes Chad with her. Oh the loyal, dumb puppy.

Alright back to the Isle, Celia gets the key and we meet Dr. Facilier shortly, he’s actually a nice man (oh and btw so was Dizzy’s grandmother aka. Cinderella’s stepmother before too...) which I have kind of hard time imagining BUT nonetheless I kinda like it? They get out and find Harry + Gil and couple other pirates stealing their bikes (same kind Mal took to the Isle in D2) and run after them. Celia and Mal go to Hades’ lair. 

They find Hades napping, but then he wakes up, Celia trying to distract him so Mal can get the ember. But whoops, he grabs Mal’s hand. And then we learn something shocking! (not really) “Hi Dad.” Oh well look at that, Hades is Mal’s dad. Even though I recall that in the first movie it was said to be a human male? But then again, makes sense why Mal has such great magical powers. They argue and get a nice rock’n’roll duet together (”Do What You Gotta Do” and boy I’m fawning over Cheyenne Jackson’s voice!). Celia kinda does background “ooh”s which is... so weird really. Like why?

I’m not gonna lie, I kinda enjoyed the bickering chemistry between Hades and Mal as father and daughter. He clearly cares about her but tells her that her mother was not an easy person to be with and he never stayed in contact with Mal. Now this is about everything that we learn about their relationship. Mal has a certain resenment at him but Celia reveals that Hades being her father explains him asking about her. Mal tells her that Evie is the only one that knows.

Meanwhile in Auradon, Audrey visits Ben making him an offer to make her his queen again but he thinks she’s under a spell and Audrey realises he doesn’t care about her. She uses magic to turn Ben into a Beast and also turns Fairy Godmother running towards the Museum to get her wand into a statue (not shown how she made that happen really... but later on we see that she can apparently see ppl in the staff u know, like a CCTV kinda thing).

VK’s get back to the portal and when they cross over, Harry and Gil do too. They try to stop them and in the midst of it the ember drops to the water (spoiler: if it gets wet, it stops working). Uma catches it and then turns back into human. They strike a deal when Mal makes a promise to let any of the VK’s that want to get out of the Isle, get out. 

So Uma, Harry and Gil are now going to Auradon with the VK’s to help them. Kinda reluctantly. Gil gets all pumped up for fresh food and all which is kinda cute x’D And Harry ofc is trying to steal money from a sleeping student but Jay stops him. Dude is awake though and tells the VK’s what happened. They go to look for Ben and go to his castle, eventually finding the walls clawed and end up in a fight between some armors that Audrey controls (”Night Falls”). 

Eventually they beat Audrey together and almost celebrate. But not quite cause they are enemies. Evie is trying to play the middleman, suggesting an icebreaker game which doesn’t really take off. But props to her for trying. Also I should say that she suggested trying to be friends when they met Uma, Harry and Gil at the entrance to the Isle.

After the fight they split up - the boys go into the woods trying to find Ben while the girls go search Audrey’s room and Uma finds her diary where she mentions the fairie’s cottage. Then the girls go back to Evie’s where they found Smee’s twins and Dizzy sleeping as well as Doug. Evie tries too wake him up but can’t (duh, he’s under a spell). Uma’s all like “he’s under a spell. is she not a fast learner?” and Mal tells her that Evie’s emotionally involved. Which brings us to the ah so sweet - true love’s kiss (”One Kiss”). But Evie is unsure cause they haven’t used the L-word yet. When did Evie become so insecure though? She has been super confident throughout the series even though imho her storyline with Doug has NOT gotten the moment in spotlight it deserves. But wait, she kisses him after the song and he wakes up! Aww so it is true love. Bitches I wanted to see more of them before this bc they’ve been in the background (also can I mention that Doug has turned into like a young Nicholas Cage clone with his long hair and all and dam he’s cute!).

The boys find Ben, now in beast form and trying to kind attack them (and failing adorably) when Carlos calms him down and takes a splinter from his paw (i mean... he has paws now?). Kinda reminds me of Tinkerbell and the Neverbeast when Fawn took a splinter from the Neverbeast’s paw :’D Anyway, back to the story. Then Jane arrives with sort of a hose, getting Ben all wet with the water from the Enchanted Lake and he turns back too human - except he has a little beard/stubble and kind of fangs? Also Carlos and Jane meet again and are all cute together. Harry tries to make a move on Jane but Carlos literally blocks him, lol.

Back to Evie’s. Mal and Uma are talking when suddenly boards start covering the house. Audrey’s magic has gotten stronger cause Mal can’t reverse it alone but when Uma joins in with her shell, they manage to beat it, making Audrey angry. 

They build up a plan and Gil, Doug and Jane go look for the Fairy Godmother while the other’s go to the Fairie’s cottage, finding Chad locked in a closet. They walk out and then comes the moment of truth. Evie tells Ben that Uma + the pirates joined them cause Mal promised that the kids from Isle can come to Auradon. She reveals that she lied to everyone, making her friends mad. Celia takes the Ember, throwing it into a pool of water. Uma and Harry leave. Evie faces Mal, who obviously feels awful and her friends are mad at her. Then poof, they’re turned into stone. Mal sings what is - I assume - the song to build up her confidence/self-searching (”My Once Upon a Time”) and confronts Uma asking for her help to beat Audrey. But Uma turns her down even after she tells her that she saw the good in Uma - that she really cares.

Next we have Celia calling for help cause Audrey has her on top of one of the towers. Mal turns into a dragon, trying to battle Audrey but can’t do it on her own. Uma and Harry happen to come back and Uma’s suddenly like “she can’t do it on her own, i’m here girl, i’m here” forgetting that Mal totally lied to them and kinda screwed them over and helping her igniting the ember again. With the help from the ember, she beats Audrey. Everyone is awakened, except Audrey who’s fading away after being hit back with the magic. Mal can’t wake her up even with the crystal and tells Ben, Beast, Belle and everyone else in the room that Hades could. While they doubt it, Mal tells them that he’d do it - for her, he is her father after all. Ben is a bit shocked but sends guards to get him from the Isle.

He’s brought to the Castle in shackles and he works his magic, waking Audrey up. She apologises to Mal and then Mal apologises to her as well as Ben and then Audrey’s grandma apologises to Mal. It’s an apologyfest, and all is fine again. Yay? Hades is escorted back to the Isle and has a nice little moment with Mal, giving her the ember. Celia, Uma, Harry and Gil also go back to the Isle. Mal and Ben attend their engagement party and she surprisingly declares that she can’t be the Queen of Auradon - she can’t turn her back to the Isle. So in conclusion of a long speech, they open the barrier (even though the Beast is against it but Ben shushes him :D) and Mal becomes the Queen of Auradon and the Isle. (”Break This Down”) The people from the Isle (with Uma’s leading) notice this too and meet some of Auradon’s people halfway and have this big closing number with lost of  dance and singing.

And then people rejoice. Gil and Jay seem to have sparked a friendship. Harry brings comedy to the scene being like “so she’s deeeefinitely taken?” bout Mal, then trying to make a move on Evie and finally Uma who’s not having it. And then Harry ends up dancing with Audrey. Okay, seems legit. Then there’s Hades, being happy for Ben and Mal (and also giving Ben the “i’m watching you eyes”). They dance into  the palace yard (or somewhere) and the scene cuts to the core four, staring at the passageway to the Isle, apparently to go meet their parents (cause they didn’t come to Auradon?) and the end credits roll.

ALRIGHT.

Plotwise yes, it’s a clusterfuck. The whole movie is very rushed, it’s like they tried to include too much things. Like said, at the end of D1, it seemed that Audrey and Mal were somewhat civil, then Audrey was spending some time in the fairies cottage/seven acres woods/something like that in D2 and we didn’t see her at all. Suddenly she’s all hateful and resentful again and her grandmother is being a total jerk to her. Whole turning into evil happened almost right after the movie opened so there was no proper lead to it really. Nothing to explain WHY Audrey went back to resenting Mal and Ben and Auradon.

Then Mal’s father. Alright, pretty much everyone knew by now that Hades was gonna be Mal’s father even though I recall that in the first movie or somewhere else it was said that it was a human male. What happened in their past could’ve and more so SHOULD’VE been dug into a little more cause Mal is resentful at him for not being around - but why wasn’t he around? Why didn’t he call her? After all, he had been asking about her from Celia so obviously he does care for her.

The other VK’s were even more pushed to the side than before. I do get that Mal is kind of the lead here, but they did kind of sideline their character development. The other VK’s were in such minor roles I could easily say that they might as well be taken out altogether. Evie tried to be a peacemaker, she gets a few lines in couple of songs and one song to herself. Her character has also been very confident and craving for love, kind of seducing Doug in the first movie and making him accidentally jealous in D2 and suddenly she’s insecure? Yeah, love can be scary sometimes but of all the characters I just don’t see it characteristic to Evie to suddenly become uncertain of herself in the terms of love. Jay’s more like acting as a guide to good to Gil and Harry for the time being and Carlos is just being his adorable self. Still can’t believe there was no Jarlos kiss! (also he got Jane a pendant saying “Jarlos” as her birthday gift, how adorbs!)

The main problem is that there isn’t really a proper climax in the movie. It starts off god and then falls flat on it’s ass. May I also point out that not ONCE in these movies have Mal and Ben had a duet together - yes they’ve shared songs but also with other people in them - and they are the “true love” couple after all which is a bit disappointing. I mean Ben has been kind of put into thee background in the movies too - and in this last one even more so, whenever the core four have been side to side. But even in the last movie - since they’re engaged after all - I was surprised that when they opened the barrier, Jay was next to Mal (as well as Evie), squishing her hand and her leaning into him. In the end Ben is the king and Mal’s fiancee so in my opinion, he should’ve been next to Mal, not behind her (as much as I do love Mal). And I mean I was also waiting that the other VK’s would’ve met their parents too. But no. Disappointment. 

In a nutshell D3 is a movie about Audrey being a resentful brat and turning dark, introducing Mal’s dad pretty shallowly adding pretty much nothing into her story arc or character development. Except her forgiving her father pretty fast. Too much is trying to be fitted into 1hr45mins. Mal and Hades could’ve had their own movie working it out. Audrey could’ve had a thorough build up to what led her to the dark path.

Aesthetically it’s very pleasing and I enjoyed the music and I do love the cast. The end was kind of bittersweet and the whole movie was a bit unreal once you know that Cameron is no longer with us (rest in peace). So this is and end of and era. Despite this honest and well - unfiltered - review I thank the cast and crew of Descedants  from the bottom of my heart that they have brought these  movies to us.

i know!! i had this one mutual a few years ago that used to hate some of the purest characters and i was like ??? just say u hate happiness and go lmao some ppl get annoyed by hyper characters but i just think they’re so cute :( it’s comic relief too!! you don’t watch haikyuu but hinata is literally the embodiment of the SUN, he’s tiny and pure and hyper and precious!!!! my mutual used to hate him too lknsdlkf deep sigh i can’t understand that :/ but yes!!!! inasa would be a cute classmate and i really hope he gets to shine more in the future too!! he’s a great character and he’d be great making more appearances :’) shinso though!!! yes!! i almost forget about him sometimes but i rlly liked him too!! too bad it’s been like years since we haven’t seen him rip 

HONESTLY SUGIMOTO BEING IN THE TEAM WOULD BE AMAZING CAN THAT HAPPEN???? i think his character is really nice and he had a great arc so if that doesn’t happen it’d honestly be a waste :/ and ohhh i haven’t read much more of the webtoons but i did check these sites!! sighs being broke sucks bc even if we want to support the author we need to stick to reading online bc we can’t afford it :( mangago is where i usually read stuff too lmao 

honestly not to be that person but i love haikyuu klsjflnsk i totally recommend it even if it’s really popular now and some people might think it’s overrated... I DON’T THINK SO LMAO the characters are all great and they ALL have nice arcs with lots of character development!! a downside is that the pace is painfully slow, like the matches usually go on for months but it’s totally worth it :’) ppl get obsessed over it for a reason!!! me included!! i love sports anime/manga and i LOVE volleyball so haikyuu is rlly a blessing to me :’) but lksdjnfsa i’m not saying you should read it or trying to pressure you to do it anyways, i’m just saying it’s nice :’)

ohhhh i actually read a lot of fanfics LMAO there was this popular social media called orkut and there was these comunities things, kinda like forums, and people would write original stories there and i LOVED it so when orkut went down i started to read a lot of fanfics lmao i don’t usually mind the ships bc i don’t care about shipping as long as the story is good lmao but i do have some restrictions sometimes and if it’s about a TOTALLY notp i can’t read it even if it’s from one of my fave authors lksjdnfa like with gusari she makes some oikawa x matsukawa djs sometimes and it’s not exactly a notp but i just can’t enjoy them lksjfnaks maybe bc i’m so used to her iwaoi ones :/ but either way lmao I ACTUALLY read once an ishigaki x imaizumi fic too lmao it’s a rare pair but it’s kinda interesting to see that ppl actually ship them?? fun fact but ishigaki is my fave hakone dude kljsnfda the worst about rare pairings is that.... it’s rare LMAO so when u read a really nice fic about them it sucks that u can’t find many more :/ like i mostly read haikyuu and free fics and i really like some rare pairings in both fandoms like daichi x kuroo and makoto x rin LMAO

...Yea, I see the value of getting 6 pets to the top of their careers now. Included in this insane sum is the 20k+ that Wyatt and Jojo brought with them moving in, and at first I’m worried that we’re way too rich for only generation 2. Well, careful what you wish for, cause here’s our post-remodeling budget:

Everything was purple.. his pills.. his hands.. his foyer. 

As eagle-eyed readers may observe, both the hall and the living room were designed with nothing else in mind but whether they matched our cat paintings. Per legacy rules I use as little cc as possible, which isn’t that hard since I feel this bizarre, angular and hugely impractical couch really encapsulates Jojo’s essence. Like if he was a servant in Beauty and the Beast this would be his furniture form.

Apparently the only things I deemed important enough to capture were the cat portraits, so it looks like my Komeization is finally complete! Here’s some floorplan shots tho so you don’t get disoriented in our labyrinth-like mansion. Please note our amazing pink-blue-purple kitchen! Barbie’s Dreamhouse who??

And here’s the second floor, which also illustrates the exact point I ran out of money. Honestly looking back I don’t understand how the fuck this place cost 70k?? Like nothing is particularly expensive except the amazing vintage batmobile which was around 30-40k and some of the paintings? But I guess all the small things add up in the end + I’m super bad with money..

..and I’m not the only one. Jojo GET A FUCKING GRIP and A JOB. Literally no comment @ your cat wants, you inherited the jaw, wasn’t that enough??? ANYWAY. I know the question on everyone’s mind is how is Wyatt going to fit in with the Unions.. and all I have to say about that..

..is LOL. Truly the perfect career for when your mother-in-law is a criminal mastermind and your husband is a serial killer! I mean the jokes practically write themselves. At least he doesn’t want 10 kids or any shit like that, cause I’ve seen hell and it was the result of mixing Jojo/Wyatt genes in cas.

On top of gifting us with his future-probably-fug children, Wyatt also gives us the gift of our first ever kitchen fire when he decides to make dinner with 1 cooking point. His generosity really knows no bounds.

It’s all fun and games now but Wyatt deadass almost died in the inferno and was about to take poor, stupid Komei with him, who of course ran to the fire even though he was in the yard. Meanwhile Victoria was safely watching tv and didn’t move while Jojo..

Your GSR posts are making me wanna do weird things. Like cuddling. Or confessing I used to love that CSI spinoff… yes, THAT one. Idk what was wrong with teenage me. *comparing my formative years with yours* It’s a miracle I even cross path with you lol. And I had no idea they’re having so much fun in Vegas! Should I watch the show? I’m still in Lizzington hell and I’m afraid of what GSR might do to me…

I, too, feel a lot of odd things as a result of this CSI trip I’m on rn. Should you watch it? Of course. I will never not recommend this show. Everybody who reached out to me in the past few days is scared of the ep # but worry not, guys. It’s great for sporadic watching, the eps are pretty self-contained and interesting puzzles of science and human nature w/ the best/worst puns ever, and you don’t have to eat it all up in one go.

While - imo - ships can’t really act as replacements of each other, I think GSR can offer some “shelter” for people tired of the insulting triteness being peddled on TBL. It def hints at what Lizzington might have looked like if the creative control at TBL weren’t in the hands of a bunch of manchildren who have 0 clue how to write complex dynamics and seem to think romance is about beating the shit out of each other, then bone and get married bc only bitches hold grudges for being lied to, cheated on, exploited, and gaslighted. Good ppl know those are actually signs of a person learning to love you and you should reward that behavior to support their alleged personal growth at your expense. And if those vile acts are not part of the relationship, if genuine care/interest independent of sex is shown, that can only mean the characters are secretly related but still lie about it for no reason whatsoever and cause pointless pain and suffering. This is the blueprint for relationships on that show and to call it embarrassing is an understatement.

Sara was originally brought in as Griss’ love interest, but that lousy 1D label was soon discarded and they developed her into an independent, intelligent character w/ her own set of demons to battle, which she did consistently and unapologetically. It lead her to some very dark but necessary pit stops, she was sometimes downright abrasive and difficult, but her desperation never felt pathetic, only deeply human and Griss responded to that. Granted, I’m still in the middle of the rewatch and have several blanks to fill, but I honestly can’t remember a time she was short-changed to serve an idiotic fuckboy plot or be a prop in Griss’ own arc, or have any kind of manufactured drama for drama’s sake. This is prob one reason why they struggled so much since neither character was torpedoed to fast-track some flashy-but-empty drama, and there was no need to manufacture problems when staying true to characterization provided all the organic angst fodder necessary to propel the characters forward. Sara carried the torch for Griss until her arm almost fell off, but it didn’t prevent her from whacking him with it when his behavior got hurtful and unacceptable. It didn’t prevent her from walking away when she needed to, either. And Griss had his own deep seated issues to work through, which he was eventually willing to do on his own instead of expecting Sara to put up with them. That is character growth. Stuff like that wasn’t brushed aside by Sara going “aww it’s okay, honey, you never did anything wrong ever and my obscenely tolerant love will wash away all our problems which we never actually address.” GSR is, imo, a pretty accurate, mature portrayal of 2 dysfunctional people falling in love and trying/learning to make it work w/o losing themselves in the process.

The “lab dynamics” are also v curious bc Griss - despite him trying to repeatedly escape the “assignment” - is the “awkward dad” of the team, and several ppl consider him a father figure (he struggles with this a lot but when he finally embraces it, it culminates in at least three of those scenes that triggered the waterworks for me like whoa). Cat is his “work wife” but they also have some bro-sis vibes going on. Brass is like the cool uncle, the brother Griss never had who also looks out for Sara. And so on, and so forth. So there is a complex pseudo-family here, but what the CSI writing team “discovered” is that you can have a meaningful family theme going w/o it taboo-ing a romance within the unit or rendering it automatically pathological or acting like age automatically assigns you a specific role. Many from Sara’s peer group in the lab looked at Griss as a father figure and were mentored by him. Sara was among those mentored yet she looked at him differently. It’s that simple and their relationship still made for a complex story w/o any convoluted plot padding, father figure detour, or baiting or some other form of annoying shadow puppetry.

In short, I think GSR can be the air you come up for after being submerged in that giant nonsensical mess Red/Liz is being turned into for the sake of “shocking” twists and “organic” developments. It can only help you, anon, so don’t be afraid of it. ;)

The Line Between Friendship and Love

Tomorrow marks 2 years since my love has been in my life every single day. While I am definitely writing in my journal about it to commemorate it, this is the not so cutesy poetic side. August 9th 2015 was 9 days after I had put my foot down with my ex, but I still wasn’t quite strong enough to actually leave him. Throwing away nearly 5 years of a relationship and a marriage was just such a momentous thing to me. Givin up when lots of ppl around us had given up too. 

I was at the DMV yesterday and the lady asked what day I got my van and I remember thinking back to that day, 2 weeks after my bday when I got it, when I had no hope and was full of pain, but I only was saying good bye for one week, the week my eyes were fully opened. That was also the same week that I developed a little spark of Love for my Turtle, because it was the week he met his nephew and I loved seeing him holding the baby, the tender look on his face. It was the same day he told me that he wanted to name his future daughter Anastasia and I wanted her to be mine. 

When my ex came back from his parents, after creating havoc, almost getting Baker Acted, and being poop-faced drunk every day, I said I wanted to separate. Even though his parents had said they would be on my side, they weren’t expecting that and they were absolutely infuriated. A week later, I told him I was developing feelings for someone else. He said he knew he was a jerk and he wanted to fight it and win me back, he told our marriage counselor to tell me to take him back, but I had made up my mind. It took me another week to say I wanted a divorce, pure and simple, and I made him move out. 

At the same time, our roomie and my bestie was falling in love with me and thought this would be his chance to step in. Therefore, my ex started spreading rumors as far and wide as he could that I was cheating on him with two guys and blowing up my phone with definitions of emotional cheating and that kind of thing. I didn’t deny that my feelings had changed, but I didn’t feel like I had done anything extremely out of line, even if I agreed that I had made up my mind rather quickly. 

I’ve always loved my best fran/roomie, but nowhere near the way he loves me. I was always completely faithful to my ex, and that spark of Love for my Turtle outshone any possible anything  I could have for someone else. My roomie found this very hard to believe, especially since he is a self-proclaimed mind reader. Earlier today he was telling me that he was talking about a girl to a coworker that was attracted to him and how much he loved that girl and his coworker was like “Aww she’s so beautiful.” And I got suspicious so I finally got it out of him that it was a picture of me. 

Over these past 2 years, his feelings have not given up at all, but only seem to intensify with distance, coldness, or my growing relationship with my Turtle. He shows my picture to lots of people and talks about “his best friend” that he is so obviously and unashamedly in love with, although he sometimes admits I  am in a relationship with someone else, which usually just leaves him to awkward stares. He told me that everything with the Turtle is just fast-fast-fast, now that we will be engaged soon and are looking for a house. It makes me feel like he still hangs on to the slightest glimmer of possible hope that since I am not married with children, he still has a chance at me.

In 100% all honesty, I have never wavered between the Love and Friendship line with him. He knows that  I didn’t lead him on, but he wants to believe if I gave it a chance it would work out. Even when I told him (almost a year after keeping it a secret) that my Turtle had cheated  on me and lied straight to my face several times and lost all of my trust for a long long time, finally allowing myself to boo-hoo cry the most pathetic heartbroken cry I have ever cried,I still did not cross that line. I may have thought at my lowest that I could give him a chance and stop pursuing dishonest men, but I just never felt that way about him and I felt like he deserved someone who felt the same way about him.

I said all of that to say, here’s to 2 years of broken hearts, of blurred lines and crossing lines and betrayal and love that rises up from the ashes. I am gonna paint a way prettier picture tomorrow, but out of this mess I have found happiness that  I fought for and earned.
