Oh boy her design? Let's say she really grew into it. Like the earliest art of her I have is sso ugly I'm sorry Grande but I did not have a handle on that thang. She had such Pug vibes. I think this'll be an interesting post?

This is the beginning of it all. Unfortunately I don't have a super insightful answer to how I came up wi her, bc the Og* angels were literally me going HeeHoo with a pencil. (*Certain specific angels I designed in relative succession to each other before I had a handle on how I want to design angels. The so called Ogs are Lamera, ZZZ, J'aimekiel, Grandefel, Kxxxtr, Ngah and Combfa. Everyone after this was designed a notable amount of time later and with much more "process" to them)

I have some thoughts but it's fuzzy and vague? Okay. So I thought I should definitely do one lion (esque?) at least bc *points at old religious art of angels* and they just have those Vibes to me, ykno? I associate angels with certain things that I try to employ in the story's characters (to an extent). Grandefels vibes were.. Guardian, maybe a tad like a sphynx, just ykno, a huge feline statue like entity who guards something and is like a scary immovable force ig? I wanted some ethereal aspects to it, and lots of teeth (hers aren't visible here but the whole underside of her body opens up to a huge ass mouth with teeth everywhere). Now, initially I was gonna have her hair be lilac but turn bright blue in some situations but I WAAAY preferred the blue on her. She's supposed to have Blue flames mixed with galaxy vibes. Like if blue flames were a puddle and that puddle was a lion's mane. And it was all. Cool and semi-physical

Onto how her design adjusted overtime.

I think most firstly I stopped drawing the grooves on her body that would open up to reveal the Teeth, I mean I do still allude to them vaguely but I figured the way I was doing it at first looked kinda.. Eugh? Another thing I quickly started changing was her hair texture. Originally I wanted it to be completely straight and smooth and flowing but it looked way more interesting and more galaxy esque with it being bubbly and cloudy. I guess my initial thought was that I wanted it to look like it was flowing out of her head? Like some water?

(This anthro drawing also demonstrates the way I nowadays moreso "allude" to her hidden mouth but the anthro version here isn't too close to Canon otherwise since I gave her face an actual normal mouth too lol)

Oh yes, and the crown is another major change!

I think my first notable adjustment was made here (note also the flowy hair). If gotten an amino commission (No money, just amino coins lol) of her and really liked the way the artist drew her crown so I took after that and started slowly changing it. It took me a while to be satisfied with, though. In the very beta version, it was supposed to be like a ring/circle. If you look at the older drawings up there, you can see that one horn is meant to be drawn on the "front" and the other behind. It's like if you looked at her from straight up, you'd see the three dimensionality of it, being more like an actual halo instead of one solid headgarment. I do still really like this idea, however I just think it looks better as it is now. I also had a fair bit of finagling with the side horns, frankly I always found them ugly so I'm finally happy with how they look (just realising I haven't drawn her in a bit, so, the anthro pic is the most accurate to her current design if we ignore the uh.. Anthro-ness lol)

One more thing! You don't see her halo too often in these, but it's intended to be drawn tilted. It's not straight (just like her), and tilts a bit down on one side. In universe this is kinda viewed as an imperfection and she used to be ashamed of it. The irl explanation for it was that it couldn't fit straight between the horns, with the way I'd formed the crown, and so I kept it that her halo just is that way! It fits oddly between her crown and I think that's neat!

Apparently on that last picture I decided to draw the halo straight, though? Cringe... :/

How many pets do you have and can we see some some of the lesser shown ones?

There's another ask from someone who wants me to talk about my pets, but I feel like that's a little hard when you don't know what any of them look like!!! So I'll answer this one for right now because I have tons of pictures >:3

I have five geese and two ducks, and I think 18 chickens. Then a couple dogs and a spider.

These are some of my geese. I have another brown one (chinese swangoose) that isn't in frame. The chinese swangeese' names are Gertrude (Gertie!) and Humphrey, and the white ones are Gertie's and Sebastian's offspring from earlier this year, Lottie and Louie.

I'm sure plenty of you know Sebastian by now too, my gander.

There's also Puddles, my sole pekin duck. She is a total sweet heart.

This is Dahlia, I don't have many pictures of her but she's a little flighty. She is a muscovy duck.

Unfortunately Tumblr doesnt want me to upload a video I have of all my bigger chickens, and I have too many to send individual pics of all of them. You can have this pic of my roo Bandito, though.

There's also two old pug chihuahua mixes that live upstairs, Misty and Jasper. They're nice though I'm not really a small dog person so I cant say that I have many pics of them ^^;.

And then my fiance has a tarantula:

She's pretty silly, she is always so determined to climb things she can't get back down from. Her name is Pepper.

We're thinking about getting our own dog or cat soon, since my old cat Onyx passed last year. But that's all we have right now.

I haven't been able to binge much ghost content lately because I overworked myself thinking I could make 13 pieces in a month for my renaissance faire costume when I'm both a beginner in leather working and sewing. I absolutely killed my right shoulder and my index finger and thumb, nearly lost sanity a few times, but I came pretty close to finishing quite a few pieces. I feel like if I had one more month I would have finished easily. I managed to complete my pauldron and a quick little scabbard for a larp dagger, but everything else I had to scrap and save for another time. Really proud of my pauldron for being my first piece of leather working.

I didn't get good pictures of my pauldron until after I went to the first day of ren faire, which was incredibly busy and because of that it got CAKED in dirt that was in the air.

I also didn't get any full body shots of my outfits but I did feel pretty cool in my outfit for the first day despite not finishing everything

Bonus: I stood in line the next day to pet a pug and it was so worth it and tbh I almost cry looking at the pic because I miss my little pug so much. 🥲

Young Cole Hauser would be a good fancast for Harwin Strong. He looks like he could break someone's bones.

To the surprise of no one I had once again to google who TF this was.

Personally 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don't know. I don't think I see Harwin Strong immediately when I look at him. Besides the brown eyes that he's missing - but ok easily fixed with some brown contacts - he's also missing the pug nose. But this is just my personal opinion.

I think a young Clive Standen would fit Harwin's description a lot better. He has that sort of brutish (I don't mean this in a bad way) very manly look to him that Harwin Strong should have. Might be that very strong (lol) jaw . This all said and he would still need some brown contacts XD

On a small note though, I will give credit where credit is due and say that I actually don't think REDACTED missed the bullet when they casted Ryan Corr. He could have potentially made a good Harwin with:

-First and foremost a good script and writing that has bear minimum respect for the source material -> where is he courting Rhaenyra? Where is he by her side as she gave birth? Where is he idk the night before she married Laenor? Where is he when she moved to Dragonstone? -> and these are just bear minimum book scenes, you could have done A LOOOOOOOOT more given that in the books Harwin and Rhaenyra were in a relationship for 6 years and in REDACTED they were for TEN! T-E-N! These people had 3 kids together and you don't even show them touching! JESUS. F_CKING. CHRIST! Redacted writing < sh:t (sh:t can be used as a fertiliser so it's good and useful).

-Some PROPER BROWN CONTACTS -> please H*O they are not expensive, they are very good, like look at Twilight. Kristen wore such contacts like:

Like come on! George couldn't be bothered to give Harwin a personality except -> is strong and desired Rhaenyra - but he repeated again and again how Harwin Strong looked like!

Again this is not criticism for Ryan, this is criticism for the person directing him.

In sum my point is, looks wise he could have made a (very) decent Harwin Strong IF the right people had been in charge and IF the writing was good -> which is more I can say for many other actors -> he's the exception to this not the rule here, the vast majority of other actors were terrible choices regardless.

It's hard to watch Tribute shows when the artist meant so much to you. Not that it was a tribute show but I had an emotional time watching the last Hip show when it aired. I had been invited to watch with friends but I choose to stay home alone and sit on my couch with a box of tissues. That's another amazing doc Long Time Running!

That's awesome you want to learn Guitar! And Van Halen were amazing. Of the 3 frontmen which was your favourite? Apart from Metallica and Megadeth which really scratched my angry itch so to speak as a teen, I spent a lot of time with strong female singer songwriters (Stevie Nicks; Amy Winehouse; Beth Hart; Patti Smith; etc..). Pearl Jam also really helped me with some things. Eddies lyrics hit really close to home sometimes.

It's so fun right? I don't think anyone else in my fandom is doing it but sometimes I'll check the SRS 22 tag and it's so interesting to see.

Thuringwethil: Messanger to Sauron, Woman of Secret Shadows, and Bringer of Blood Moons

For @tolkienvillainsweek Day 2: Corrupted Ainur. I'm a day late, but hey, "Creatures and Minions of Evil" works too.

Art notes: The biggest tragedy is that you can't properly appreciate how sparkly everything is. I used silver gel pen for the highlights on her skin, hair, jewelry, and horns, and glitter gel pens in her eyes, sash, choker, and halo-thing. She's SHINY. Otherwise I used mechanical and watercolor pencil. I did all the little veins in her wings by following the imperfections/fuzzy bits in the paper so that I didn't have to freehand so many tiny organic shapes and it took forever but I'm super happy with them. They look so nasty! You may notice I cheated with the left one. This is because I spent over an hour making the joints look realistic on the right, and refused to try and figure out how they would look half-folded. I do not regret it.

As for her actual design: Another victim of my boobless lady Maiar agenda. She got horns to match with her brother (see below) and I figured it upped the Spooky. I gave her wrinkles and a pug-y nose as a nod to wrinkle-faced bats, she got a widow's peak and silent-film eyebrows as a nod to ~classic~ vampires, and a vaguely Victorian(?) style choker, again for the Vibes. I gave her an undercut because she's gay and deserves it. I decided her wings attached to a tail (most bats' wings attach to their legs but that wasn't happening) but that meant that her entire back had to be bared, and I wanted her clothes to be elegant but practical. So she got a low-cut halter-jumpsuit. It's blue because there were already lots of reds and I liked the contrast. Belts also couldn't work normally, but she's a messenger and had to have a place to carry scrolls at the least, so I improvised. She also has pockets. The pics don't show it well, but her black undershirt-thing is pleated (another nod to old-timey fashion a la corsets). The sash was developed because a normal one wouldn't work, and I liked the idea of off-the-shoulder sleeves, so I combined them.

Headcanons + Closeups under the cut

I've decided she's Tilion's sister, which I came up with after seeing the headcanon that Sauron and Melian are siblings and thinking "Oh! Yeah maiar can have familial relationships!" and then I realized I already mentally pictured them as looking really similar and had given Tilion some bat traits when I drew him, and then I realized there are bats that drink nectar (like from flowers, like from TELPERION'S FLOWER which Tilion really wanted to fly) which fit well with the headcanon that Thuringwethil isn't actually a vampire bat. So they're siblings now, and still somehow on good terms, and blood moons (see what I did there) are caused when Tilion wants a break and hands over his boat to his sister. I refuse to bury my gays, so she isn't killed during the Silm Quest shennanigans.

I like to think that while they have an aggregate of different bat diets (fruit, nectar, bugs, and blood) Tilion is actually the more vampiric of the two, having ridden in Orome's hunt, while Thuringwethil originally served Vana before forcibly changing her diet to match her corruption. This is funny to me, since I headcanon that Arien was originally made to serve Melkor before he fell and she turned to Vana, and that both she and Thuringwethil are lesbians who definitely had (have? enemies and lovers?) some kind of begrudging interest in each other. Fun fact, blood moons are lunar eclipses, where the moon is in the earth's shadow hidden from the sun, so lunar eclipses are Tilion taking a break and letting his evil sister steer while Arien can't see and yell at him for it.

Thuringwethil doesn't join Morgoth because she's loyal to him or his cause, but because he's the only other option apart from the Valar who she decides are cringe. As a result she isn't super committed to Being Evil, but all the monstrosities she commits are because she happens to feel like it at the moment and doesn't really care about consequences for people that she hasn't designated as "hers". She's pretty social and knows all the best gossip, but also ranges from indifference to hatred of pretty much everyone she interacts with, so she isn't much of a people person. This actually makes her great at her job as messenger, because she'll deliver all relevant info and put in effort to get more in return, but won't dawdle or get fancy with it. She knows her job and she does it well, and expects the same kind of efficiency and competence in return. There are very few Incarnates she feels are worth paying attention to or having an opinion on- they are collectively "good for causing suffering to" and not much else.

As far as her opinions on Maiar go, she's one of Sauron's primary advisors (as much as he has them) as well as his messenger, so she works closely with Tevildo and Thu. She dislikes both of them. She's developed a tolerance for her boss's... eccentricities, but she legitimately respects him as well (more than Morgoth- not that she'd say that). There's also a mutual agreement between Sauron and his "counsel" that they will never bring up Incident Nightingale unless absolutely critical. She has no opinions on Gothmog and his crew besides thinking they're brutes without a subtle bone in their bodies, and similar thoughts on the werewolves (although they do vaguely amuse her). She still loves her brother- although she finds him stupid, irritating, and incompetent, Arien is attractive the bane of her existence, she is jealous of despises Ilmare, and in her mind Eonwe's only respectable feat is managing to subdue Sauron- otherwise he's a featherbrained bootlicker with more power than competency and the personality of congealing glue (who's certainly not worthy of Tilion's affections.)

She avoids capture during the War of Wrath and pretty much just hangs out causing isolated problems for people during the 2nd age, leaving Sauron free to enact his plans- although she does visit every now and then during the last days of Numenor. The last time she's really active is during the War of the Ring, before Sauron loses and she cuts her losses to go be spooky in some discrete forest out east.

The Case File – Mice and Murder Ep 1

The Case of the The Pernicious Party  

Hello, hello, hello! It’s been a hot second but your resident D20 recapper is back to tackle the newest season: Mice and Murder! Y’all had to know I wasn’t gonna sit out the murder mystery, are you kidding me???

I might be playing around with the format a bit in the coming weeks to make sure I have the best possible system for keeping track of possible clues, suspects, and theories as we untangle whatever web Brennan weaves for us this season so don’t be surprised if things change a little. 

Anyway, without further ado, onto our mystery!

Summary

In case you missed it, this season takes place in an alternate, Zootopia/Wind in the Willows-esque universe where all the characters are animals but history seems to have happened in more or less the same way--for example there was still a King Charles but he was a King Charles Spaniel (cute Brennan). Our story specifically takes place in the English village of Tufting Meadows.  

We start with Katie’s character--Gangie Green (Weasel/Thief Rogue) in the graveyard of the Anglican Chapel (Our Lady of Prayerful Paws). Gangie, we learn, is an orphan who was kicked out of the orphanage at some point for thievery. Obviously, he’s not reformed of the habit because he is here to do some graverobbing. On a nat 20 (that Katie hilariously doesn’t notice even though her total is like a 29) Gangie can see through the window of the rectory that there is a weeping window inside--Catherine McCabbage who is being (dubiously) tended to by Raph’s character, Vicar Ian Prescott (Owl/Bard, College of Eloquence). 

Ian comes from a line of men of the cloth but he’s not exactly the best speaker despite his subclass. He’s doing his best though! The widow’s husband (Conor McCabbage) died at the local mill in what has been declared an accident but she suspects foul play. She’s been hearing his voice on the wind and wants Ian’s professional opinion on whether this could be a sign from God or if her husband might be speaking to her from beyond the grave or something like that. Ian gives a very muddled and not very comforting answer but seems pretty sure that something sketchy did in fact happen. Then, he sees a crack of lightning outside which illuminates the graveyard where he gets a glimpse of Gangie. 

He goes to check it out (and Gangie fully has an elderly goat he’s dug up slung over his shoulder) but “gravedigger” is his legit job so Ian decides to assume whatever’s going on is legit and not ask too many questions. He goes back to the widow (who, before she leaves, says that maybe sometimes people need to work on God’s behalf) while Gangie takes the body Loam Hall (a massive manor, built into a hill).

We cut to the next day and our next two characters! 

At 22B Hamsted Street in a pretty well appointed home are Ally and Grant’s characters. First up, we have Lars Vandenchomp (Huge ass Doberman/Battlemaster Fighter) who is so tough looking but also so Swedish sounding--it’s A Lot (so, incredibly on brand for Ally). Lars is security for Grant’s character Sylvester Cross (Fox/Inquisitive Rogue) who is a kinda (to use Grant’s word) “foppish” Sherlock Holmes type. He was hired by Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow to figure out what happened with Conor McCabbage (and clear him of negligence in running the mill) but he couldn’t find any evidence of any funny business, making this the only case he’s never cracked. He’s not as young or popular as he once was so this is, understandably, bumming him out. He’s even more bummed out when he realizes that William has invited him to his 60th birthday party that’s happening that night (as kind of a prop to show that he did his part in trying to solve the mystery) and Lars has already RSVP’d yes. He grudgingly agrees to go as it’s one of those asks that’s really more of a veiled demand but decides to pull the money he was paid from the bank first so he can return it and really stick it to the guy.

Finally, we cut to our last set of PCs who are on their way to Tufting Meadows via a very luxurious train. Inside are Sam and Rekha’s characters! Sam is Buckster $ Boyd (Peccary which is like a small boar/Mastermind Rouge) a Texan Oil Tycoon who acts exactly how you’d expect a Texan Oil Pig to act. Yes, you pronounce the dollar sign as “dollar sign” (even though as we find out later his middle name is Cassius so it’s like Cash which I think is super cool). With him is Rekha’s character, Daisy D'umpstaire (Raccoon/Assassin (???) Rogue another American (from South Carolina) though it seems she’s My Fair Lady’d herself into an upper class socialite (her last name was previously Dumpster). They’re traveling with their accountant, an Armadillo named Armond who seems kinda skittish and concerned about their travel expenses but Buck tells him that to make money you gotta spend money and they’re gonna make a *ton* of money on this trip. They’re also so so mean to him for absolutely no reason. 

When the train stops, they’re greeted by Templeton Padhop (a frog, natch) who is the chauffeur of Loan Hall, sent to fetch them. A wheel on his car is broken so he joins in on the Armond abuse immediately and has Armond roll into an Armadillo ball and replace it. Poor guy. When they show up they're greeted by a footman--a pug in a bowler hat named Milo Snout.

Meanwhile, Lars and Sly (Oh, Sly fox, I see what you did there Grant) are similarly greeted by another footman--a lizard named Basil Baskins. On a 23 perception check, Lars sees that Jeremy “Jez” Brockhollow is inside (the son of William who is a badger btw) and also clocks Gangie (who they know as a career criminal who disappeared like a year ago). Gangie doesn’t notice Lars though. 

Ian, who is also invited, shows up at about the same time as Sly but very quickly, the conversation is taken over by Lucretia “Lucy” Brockhollow, William’s older, eccentric sister who immediately gets into it with Lars about astrology and the occult (she thinks bad stuff is happening because of a curse let loose when Sly’s old rival--a rabbit named Fletcher Cottonbottom who is the son of his former employer--opened an Egyptian tomb). They’re thick as thieves right away because Ally is a nonsense magnet. And not like a regular magnet, one of those big electromagnets. 

Daisy and Buck spot William’s kids--the aforementioned Jez and his older sister Constance--along with their husbands Dr. Corbin Magpie (Constance’s and obv a magpie and a doctor) and Osmond Sheffield (Jez’s who is a Ram and a lawyer). Daisy is too stuck in her conversation with a truly unhinged squirrel (Lady Eugenia Bristlebrush who clearly does not know she’s in a murder mystery because she just keeps talking about how much she hates and wants to kill everyone) to hear what’s going on but she indicates the conversation to Buck who is able to eavesdrop and hear that they’re lamenting that Catherine--the widow--RSVP’d no which is gonna look really bad, like they didn’t invite her (bad PR). 

Buck, introducing himself as a business partner of William, eases into a conversation with the husbands which their respective spouses also join into and we learn that Buck's dad was British and a friend of Willian’s. Buck bonds with Jez (who is a bit of a dilettante) really quickly since Buck is ready to go drinks-wise immediately (and there’s a stellar pun about the “American [Drinking] Constitution''). Through the window, Buck notices Gangie outside getting his attention. 

At the same time, Ian is going from party guest to party guest, giving out the penances he forgot to earlier at church (as one does). We see him talking to the Lord and Lady Bramble (a cow and hedgehog, respectively) and while she wants to pray her way out of situations without doing any legwork, he wants to buy his way out and gives Ian 250 pounds. A frustrating but financially lucrative conversation.  

Buck goes outside to talk to Gangie who has a list of names of the bodies he’s been collecting. We’re not told what Buck is doing but it seems that this list is extremely valuable to him in some way. Gangie (who Buck keeps calling Gangly, to his annoyance) pays him handsomely (like, with a 50% tip) for the list (and Gangie gives him the real list, despite Brennan saying he didn’t have to). We also learn that Gangie has allegedly been getting the orders from someone in Loa Hall and they flow from William himself.

Matilda Molesly (a mole and the head maid) invites Gangie to come in from the rain--she’s the only person who’s been consistently nice to him and he agrees to come in for tea and scones. 

Everyone is ushered together by the butler (because of course there’s a butler--he’s quite literally a fancy rat named Thomas Gilfoyle) and William gives a speech where he wishes Conor well and kinda highlights that he did hire Sly to solve the case in a “Hey, I did my bit don’t blame me” kind of way. He also makes a 150k pound donation to the church (and Ian thought 250 was good) and tells his daughter not to read the praise he got for it from the cardinal when she mentions it (I wonder if that was choreographed). Sly interrupts the speech to “magnanimously” give his money back, to William’s annoyance. Buck notices that Lawrence Longfoot (a nouveau rich, rabbit photographer) takes a pic of the scene but with Sly in the foreground and William in the background. 

Then, a few things happen at once (in a very cinematic way):

As the camera flashes, Mrs. Molesly drops her tray, eyes hurt by the light. Lady Calliope Fawnbrooke (Deer, Matron of the Arts) helps her up.

In the moment of dark, after the flash goes away, the butler disappears. 

Buck thinks he sees a shape through the window, out in the rain. 

A cheer goes up for Sly for returning the money but all Sly can focus on is one figure he recognizes in the back of the room. Daisy, who is downing her drink and not cheering for him. He downs his as well, and looks at her until she breaks the stare and leaves the room. 

And this episode doesn’t end with a dead body like I thought, but with a flashback to a younger Sylvester, 12 years ago when he first met Daisy.

Case Notes

Here is a compilation of all the characters (PCs and NPCs introduced in this episode). 

Sly mentions that Ignatius Cottonbottom faked his own death as a part of some scheme which seems like a backstory point that might come back later--we now know that there exists a way to convincingly fake your own death in this world. 

Sly walks with a walking stick because of some “mysterious accident” but we’re jumping into a flashback next week so it looks like we might find out about it pretty soon. 

Sly also mentions he used to be the personal physician to the elder Cottonbottom so those are skills he has. I wonder if that’ll be useful to this healer-less party. I wonder if cleric was even an option in this world which seems to be low to no magic. It would explain by Ian is a bad and not a cleric. 

Lars has a military background which I wanted to mention in case it becomes relevant later. 

And Dr. Magpie grew up poor and still acts it a bit even though he married a very rich woman. Brennan uses the very good line, “He forces his body into the shape of an apology”

This might be a really deep cut reference but did anyone else here was the old Britcom “Keeping Up Appearances”? Cause I was getting serious Bouquet/Bucket energy from Daisy. 

This is an all College Humor season and it shows. The energy of 6 (7 if you count Brennan) top notch comedians sparking off of each other, trying to one up each other is off the charts. Some of the best bits this episode:

“When God closes every door but one, you go through the door that is open.” followed by “I’m an owl by the way.”

“Time is money, here’s both” from Buck re his inscribed gold pocket watch--everyone at the table loved that so much and they’re right. 

Armond going from being a third to a fourth wheel. 

And the names--I already shouted out a ton on the main recap but also a rat butler (like Rhett Butler) and naming the mouse Cat(therine). Can’t forget Gangie Green/gangrene from Katie. Also points to Ally for the data stealing Eel Musk which broke Brennan a little. 

I know we just went through this with Crown of Candy but what are these animals eating? Like, in Zootopia there were only mammals so we can assume the carnivores are eating like birds and fish but there are sentient birds here. I know this isn’t important. I’m not trying to do a CinemaSins gotcha. I just wonder, you know?

Y’all were waiting for all the lights to go out during that speech and then come back on and there’d be a body too, right?

If Brennan makes the bad guy a chicken or a duck or something so he can make a “fowl play” joke, he is cordially invited to catch these hands. 

I have been waiting for Raph and Katie to do D20 forever. Their specific brand of nonsense on Rank Room was always amazing. 

I love love love that Grant and Rekha are the PCs that have ~a past~ because they are so funny together. If you haven’t seen their episode of Game Changers, you absolutely must (it’s also a murder mystery actually!).

03.01.2022 // 4 mi walk with Oreo

Enjoyed another wonderfully warm day outside with my baby pug!

Played Pokémon Go the whole time including participating (and failing) in a raid, catching several new Pokémon from the new Alola event, and defeating a gym!

The creek is thawed (pic 1)!! Not flowing, but thawed! It is a man made creek, not natural, hence why it isn’t flowing even though it’s thawed.

Found a giant puddle (second picture) directly in the middle of a trail and had to walk around it.

Still got my feet soaked in puddles and giant mud deposits (third picture) that were 6” deep sheets of snow only 3 days ago.

The grass around the playground where I sank mid-calf into the snow a few days ago is now totally clear (fourth pic).

Overall very happy to have some Real Spring Time.

Overall I was gone about 80 min. Usually we only go a max of 5km/3.1mi since Oreo is just a little pug, but the start/stop or PoGo made it easier on him. Husband was a little concerned since we are never out this long, but he had pasta ready for us when we got him (well, for me. Oreo finished his breakfast). I can’t wait to adventure with Oreo more this spring and summer, although I may have to convince Husband that I’ll be okay. I have a specific backpack for when we go on longer adventures and Oreo needs a break, but husband doesn’t love when we are going for a long time and he can’t communicate to make sure we’re okay.

I have new blisters from how wet my socks got. I initially planned to go to the gym and lift today, too, but with my new blisters, I want to go to CVS and get hydrocolloid bandages instead. This might take some additional motivation since my feet are in so much pain.

Oreo is now snoring into my legs on the couch. He’s not allowed upstairs until we can get him in the bath. A truly perfect Tuesday afternoon 🖤💛

Well I quickly needed a name and thought about what makes me me ^^ it’s a homage to smol me in elementary school staring out the window, caught in my own fantasy worlds and being completely content there. It’s not that intense anymore, but with fanfiction my creativity came back and I catch myself staring at a wall for hours as I go over my ideas 😊

Day 20- Mask

Steve filled his hands with empty and dirty dishes and took them to the dishwasher. Natasha had made them breakfast this morning: pumpkin pancakes with whipped topping. They were heavenly. She had to tell him to stop thanking her, because he wouldn’t stop. They were the best pancakes he had ever tasted. By the end of breakfast, he had eaten three helpings. He placed the dishes in the dishwasher, closed the door with his foot, and then headed to the couch where Natasha was. He sat next to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder and he kissed her temple.

“If the words ‘thank you’ come out of those lovely lips, I’m gonna smack you with a throw pillow.” She was only half-serious.

“Since you refuse to let me say them without consequences, I thought I’d just ask you what you wanted to do today. Steve twirled a lock of Natasha’s hair around his finger. “So what does the most beautiful woman in the world want to do?” Steve cocked his head and met her eye.

Natasha thought for a moment. She wanted to have a little fun. And Halloween was coming up. She always enjoyed going to the Halloween stores that popped up. She liked to just browse, make fun of the terrible costumes the manufacturers make these days. “You wanna go to the Halloween store and try to find the best mask?”

Steve perked up. “Is this a wager?” He raised a single eyebrow.

“Absolutely.”

“Alright. We post one photo each of us wearing the mask. The person who gets the most likes, wins.” Steve’s eyes sparkled with eagerness.

“What does the winner get?” Natasha asked curiously.

“I guess that’s up to the winner.” Steve smiled at her.

They found a store open nearby. “You ready for this, Nat?” Steve looked sideways at her.

“Always.” They nodded to one another, and walked in. They perused the aisles, branching off in different directions. Steve went left. Natasha went right.

Natasha’s eyes scanned up and down, waiting for something to pop out at her and grab her attention. The first thing she saw was Pennywise’s face. Black lines covered the forehead. The red lines across both of the eyes, and long, sharp yellow teeth protruded outward. She took it off the hook and slid it on. She turned on her front-facing camera and angled her body awkwardly and snapped a pic. When she was satisfied, she put the mask back, and headed down the aisle further.

The next mask that caught her attention was of E.T. It surprised her to see something so old pop up in a Halloween store after so many years. She slid the mask on and set up her pose. She stuck out her index finger and pointed. “E...T...phone...home...” she chuckled to herself and replaced the mask. She turned the corner of the aisle and bird head was facing back at her. It was a giant pigeon mask. She had a winner. She slipped it on and looked for the perfect place to perch. She spotted an empty shelf, and her eyes went left, right, left, behind, making sure the coast was clear...

When it was, she hopped up and squatted down on one knee. She balled up one of her fists and placed it on her side like a wing. She decided to make this photo a boomerang, so she bobbed her head forward a few times and made the video. She watched the video back and nodded approvingly at her work. She then went to find Steve.

She found him browsing some costumes near the back. “Still looking, Steve?”

Steve shook his head with a smile. “No I’m done. What about you?”

“I’m done, too.”

Steve’s smile grew and his eyes crinkled. “I think I’ve got this one in the bag, Nat. I hope you brought your A game.”

“You seem awfully confident there, Soldier.” Natasha beamed back at him. “Well let me see ‘em” she held out her hand for his phone. He gave it to her and she opened the photos.

The first one was a giant pug face. The tongue stuck out. Steve had his head tilted slightly.

“Aw that one’s so cute.” She scrolled to the next picture and what she saw was a skeleton horse head—no, a skeleton unicorn head. “That one’s... well, I’ve never seen anything like it, frankly.” Natasha raised an eyebrow at Steve, and he shrugged.

“Me either” he laughed. Natasha’s attention went back to the phone to the last picture. What she saw was a cartoon cow head with cockeyed bulging eyeballs. The mouth was wide open with two buck teeth protruding father than it seemed possible. Steve was giving the camera a thumbs-up. Natasha laughed and threw her head back. “That’s the pose you went with?”, she smiled up at Steve.

He smiled proudly, “Yep. Your turn.” He held out his hand for her phone. She handed it over and he scrolled through the pictures.

Pennywise’s face popped up first. Steve grimaced, “Eugh, I hate clowns.” He turned to her. “That’s why you picked that one, huh? ‘Cause you know I don’t like clowns.”

Natasha feigned innocence. “Is that something I would do?”

“Yes.” Steve replied with no hesitation. Natasha gave him a toothy grin. Steve swiped over to the next picture. “E.T.? What’s he doing here?” Steve took a closer look.

“I know, right?”

Steve swiped to the last photo, squinted his eyes, and then doubled over laughing. “Oh my god, we need to send this to Sam.”

“Wait, wait, wait.” Natasha disappeared down one of the aisles and came back holding two pigeon masks in her hands. “Let’s do it together.” They went back to the empty shelf and asked a stranger if they’d help them take a picture. They positioned themselves, kneeling on one knee, and raising their chins slightly, looking majestic. Once the picture was taken, they thanked the stranger and took a look at it.

Steve put his fingers to his lips and kissed them. “Perfection.” He looked to Natasha. “Alright. I think we have a winner.”

Natasha nodded, “And I think I have the perfect caption for it.” Steve handed her the phone and she typed out:
