Thank you. It's such a disappointment and frustration how shit Marvel is now. And I def have friends who still think of me as the "Marvel Person" and it's like no, stop. Don't associate that with me anymore, I'm pretentious and edgy about it now, let me tell you how much I hated Infinity War and Endgame and don't even get me started on Tom Holland's Spiderman (Tom Holland is a fine Peter Parker but I Hate the writing and character choices for him). Not to ramble, but I was having that rant with a friend a while ago and they had the audacity to tell me I would have liked them more if I'd seen all the movies and my dude I fucking did that's how I knew they were bad lmao. I try not to shit too hard on people who like them still because I also don't want to be That Asshole but woof. Altho I have actual moral high ground now with how they treat VFX artists so...
You are absolutely correct, some choice Handler flashbacks would have been welcomed and allowed. Excellent call.

Wait so Bruce is just gonna be professor hulk in the she hulk show?
honestly I have not watched the She Hulk trailer because I don't usually watch trailers for the TV shows but my understanding is that there's one scene where he's Smol Cute Lil Bruce, but it's only the car accident when Jennifer gets the Hulk blood that turns her into a Hulk so I think it's probably a flashback? and then every other time we see Bruce we see him as Professor Hulk My Detested so I think he's staying Professor Hulk for the time being. I'm hoping it'll end with him becoming his normal self and that Shang-Chi takes place afterward and that's why we see Perfect Brucie instead of Professor Hulk, but he also has the sling on his arm presumably from the Snap which he doesn't have in She-Hulk so I think it was a continuity error and we're stuck with Professor Hulk :/

If you would only have a problem with Israels politics, that would be fine. Nothing wrong with that. But if people have to be afraid in fucking europe or america to openly show that they are jewish, to visit a Synagoge, to speak hebrew or to tell you that they or their parents were born in Israel, than that is not just because of critique of a countries political decisions - it's because of racism and antisemitism.
If you only had a problem with Israels politics you wouldn't get angry upon hearing someone speak hebrew. A moslem palestinian, born in the west bank now living in germany, wouldn't have to be afraid to speak hebrew on german streets. Yes, you heard that right. I know a moslem palestinian that now lives in germany. He and his siblings speak multiple languages, one of them being hebrew. The language they know who the least people here in germany understand is hebrew. So when he and his siblings are outside and want to talk about something without people understanding them, they talk to each other in hebrew. They can't talk to each other in hebrew anymore since october 7th, because so called pro-palestinians would start to harass and attack them on open street, calling them all sorts of names (zionist, nethanyahoe, bitch, murderer,...) and claim that they support genocide. Yes, they would literally attack actual palestinians, whose parents still live in the west bank, simply for speaking hebrew. (Btw they regularily visit their family there. They fly to Israel, rent a car and then drive to the westbank. They say they never had a problem with the idf, only the (illegal) settlers in the westbank were problematic. ).
If you are only against a countries politics than you won't feel the need to erase a whole religious group. If you feel the need to claim that Jesus was palestinian instead of saying that he had been a judean jew you are erasing jews. If you feel the need to put a palestinian sticker over the star of david that is seen on Amy Winehouse statue in camden market you are erasing jews (yes, if you haven't heard: Amy Winehouse, a JEWISH woman, has a statue of her on camden market. Her statue is wearing a necklace with a star of david. The star of david may be on the israeli flag, but it is also a kind of religious symbol for the jews. So she - as the statue - isn't wearing it as a symbol for Israel, but as a symbol for judaism. And someone put a palestine sticker over the star of david. Which makes it antisemitic, not anti-zionist).
If you feel the need to draw or repost pictures of superman or captain america ripping the israeli flag or wearing the palestinian flag while knowing that both characters had been created by jewish men and as symbols against the Nazis AND antisemitism, than that too is a form of erasure of jews (And also blatantly disrespectful. If you don't think that superman or captain america would have immediately tried to save the israeli hostages, than you really don't know these characters).
And how could you be anything but racist when you claim that black people can't be jewish or israeli just because of the color of their skin?!
And if you were for an actual ceasefire, than you would also be angry at hamas for repeatedly rejecting ceasefire deals made by Israel and egypt. You would be angry at hamas for breaking the ceasefire on october 7th. If you only ever look at israel while demanding a ceasefire, you are not actually demanding a ceasefire. A ceasefire would mean that everyone would have to stop shooting. What you are demanding is for Israel to cease fire, while Hamas is allowed to continue to shoot rockets. That is in fact racist and antisemitic (looking at you Mark Ruffalo). Also I don't think that demanding the release of hostages - including children! - is too much. If you believe that the demand of the release of an one year old or an 18 year old is too much, than I don't believe that you actually care for one single child in Gaza.
If you are saying that Hitler was right or are okay with your friends saying that, than how can you be anything else but a racist? Everyone knows that Hitler and the Nazis were huge racists. Those are facts. So by logic if you think they were right than you think that racism is right. Than you think that antisemitism is right.
And yes, claiming that all Israelis are settlers or colonizers or white is racist and antisemitic. Claiming that jews should "go back to europe" is racist and antisemitic. Claiming that Israel isn't a real country is just stupid. If you have to even change other nations or peoples history simply so that your arguments against Israel are "valid" than you are a racist and an antisemite and an idiot.
Yes, claiming you don't trust jews in general is antisemitic and racist.
Yes, claiming that there are no civilians in Israel is racist, antisemitic and stupid. What else can a fucking newborn be?!
If you are not a racist and not an antisemite, then people wouldn't have to be afraid to tell you that they are jews. People then wouldn't have to be afraid of wearing a kippah or a necklace with the star of david on it. They wouldn't have to be afraid of speaking hebrew. They wouldn't have to be afraid of booking a fucking hotel room when they have a jewish sounding name or an israeli passport.
Stop pretending to be against racism if you have no problem with jews being afraid simply because they are jewish.
Stop pretending to be a good person if you enjoy someone being afraid because they are jewish.
Stop pretending.
Finally start being the good person you claim to be.

This is sort of old news but i’m not sure if a lot of people heard about it so i thought i’d share. At the end of October a bunch of celebrities signed a letter to Joe Biden thanking him for his position on supporting Israel. The letter is cloaked in euphemistic language but the point of its message is to urge the US govt against a ceasefire and to continue stoking the fires of genocide. The signatories have waived the benefit of the doubt — these celebrities are signing off on genocide. Here is the letter, and here are a few names on it that are notable particularly for tumblr audiences:
Amy Sherman Palladino, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pine, Eric Andre, Jack Black, Jeff Goldblum, Juliette Lewis, Katy Perry, Lana del Rey, Regina Spektor, Stephen Fry, Taika Waititi, Will Ferrell
On the other hand, there is also a letter signed by many celebrities that calls for a ceasefire. The letter is here, and here are some notable names:

Strangely a few people, including Ewan McGregor, Kirsten Dunst, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jordan Peele have signed both letters and I don’t know what to make of that. It’s possible that they signed the anti-ceasefire letter (which is dated 10/23) first and have since switched their stance, but that’s not clarified anywhere.

But Arab celebrities may be even dumber.
A Kuwaiti singer known as "Shams" gave an interview on an Egyptian TV channel.
She said, “We are in a time that repeats itself every 2,000 years, and we are currently living in the Age of Aquarius, and these are astronomical and scientific calculations. Over the next 2,000 years, which will begin in 2024, there will be frightening scientific and technological development and high-level achievements, but they will be years of fraud, falsity, lies and deception."
Shams added, “I see that starting in 2024 the world will be divided into slaves and masters based on the dualities of good and evil, male and female, and black and white.”
Shams continued "The reality is that 7 million Jews rule humanity, which numbers 7 billion people, because they control medicine, the media, banks, science, and all the oxygen of life."

Well, here's the thing: how many years did they work together on Marvel movies? You'd think if Chris was going to take away any lessons from Mark about it, it would have sunk in during that time. Instead, we got anti-Trump tweets and ASP.
You know, I'm wondering if he purposefully didn't restart the Twitter account because he didn't want people expecting him to speak out against Trump again in this election year.

Inland Empire (2006)*** It took three attempts to get through this long, confusing film. Like Mulholland Drive or the Season Three of Twin Peaks, Lynch films improve on repeat viewings even if meaning remains elusive. That is part of the joy-- sometimes you just vibe with it.
Death of Stalin (2017)**** One of my favorite films of the last two decades. A harried farce with the bloody-mindedness of Macbeth. Like the Scottish Play, we know how its going to come out, but the fun is in watching the articulate villain, played with delicious malice by Simon Russell Beale being outdone by a team of bumbling, petty bureaucrats and one very bad ass soldier. The Boyfriend (1970)*** Ken Russell's surreal tribute to the burlesque musical genre makes the most of its setting in the 1920s by putting his star Twiggy in iconic psychadelic reiterations of the flapper dress. If you opine the fact that drop waist dresses come back into style every 15 years or so, then this movie is as much to blame as anything. Poor Things (2023)*** Emma Stone gives a wild and convincing physical performance as Bella, a baby's brain in the body of her dead mother and Mark Ruffalo as typical 19th Century Rake Getting His Comeupance iscasting I didn't know I needed. I loved the yearning Godwin (Willem Defoe in truly amazing Frankenstein's monster makeup) and though I haven't read the book, I was drawn into the grotesque, ai generated world of the film. The aesthetics of this movie are as engrossing as the story and characters. Adventures of a Dentist (1965)** The Soviet version of the live action Disney comedies of the 70s, where a humble person is given magical power. Here a dentist is given extraordinary, almost magical abilities to perform dentistry without pain. He becomes a celebrity and his fall from grace involves him giving in to the decadent trappings of being a popular dentist. The humor has a darker edge than Disney though I wouldn't go so far as to call it a black comedy. Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall (1973)** This Spike Milligan film plays like a double episode of Dad's Army, not least because of the presence of Arthur Lowe who plays practically the same character here as he does on the tv show. That is not the end of the world however and this is easy to like farce with Milligan's ascerbic, anti-authoritarian bent that is grittier than anything on the sitcom. The Master (2012)** I had high hopes for this, one of Phillip Seymour Hoffman's final films and his last collaboration with director Paul Thomas Anderson is loosely based on the origin story of Scientology. Joaquin Phoenix plays a shell shocked veteran who drifts into the path of the cult leader played by Hoffman. Amy Adams gives a chilling performance as his much younger, controlling wife who is the real power behind the cult. I think I would have an easier time with this film if Anderson hadn't gone around giving interviews saying that Scientology and it's founder L. Ron Hubbard had "helped a lot of people." Of course, this is PTA and Phoenix's character isn't helped at all and he makes the cult worse by being a violent enforcer for the leader's enemies. The levels of whitewashing involved in making a deeply misogynistic cult into a secret matriarchy is just...ugh. However, the homoerotic tension between Hoffman and Phoenix makes the film worth looking out. Murder of Quality (1991)** Made for TV adaptation of John Le Carre's second novel. Denholm Elliott plays Smiley as more doddering and anti-social than Alec Guinness' iconic version of the character. This early Smiley story is more a traditional English village murder mystery, ala Miss Marple, with Glenda Jackson playing Ailsa, Smiley's war buddy that runs a women's magazine. Christian Bale plays one of the students at an elite prep school that forms the economic backbone of the town. Le Carre is merciless in his portrayal of the toxic, petty characters, the wealthy and wannabe wealthy swamp dwellers who run rings around the local constabulary until Smilley steps in and withstands their slings and arrows long enough to solve the case.
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970)*** Sometimes you sit down to watch a movie with such low expectations that you are pleasantly surprised that it doesn't totally suck. The excitement of things not being as bad as you feared can blot out some of a movie's excesses. At the end of the day this is Billy Wilder, physically incapable of creating a boring movie throwing the whole bag of tricks at this faux biography of Holmes starring Robert Stephens and Colin Blakely. There's farce and physical comedy, verbal gymnastics and exotic locations. Holmes' possible homosexuality is tastefully hinted at and attempts to create a sensationalist account of his drug use, amount to little before the mystery gets rolling. One of the big delights is Christopher Lee as Mycroft whose scenes with Robert Stephens are bitchy queen pissing contests. Genevieve Page does a turn as a would be damsel in distress who turns out to be a worthy opponent to Holmes similar to Irene Adler.
Irma La Duce (1963)*** For some reason between this and Poor Things I ended up watching two movies about Parisian brothels this month. Billy Wilder based this pastiche of 1950s travelogue adventure films like To Catch a Thief and Charade on a French stage play. A strange attempt to weld the success of the Apartment with Some Like it Hot, reconfiguring a Marilyn Monroe vehicle as a reunion of Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. Like the Apartment, Irma LaDuce is tinged with melancholy while avoiding a lot of the cliches about sex work that wind up dating so many films on this topic. The main complaint I have about Irma LaDuce s that it's about 45 minutes too long, a common complaint about many films of this period. (Damn Lawrence of Arabia and all who sail in her).
Witness for the Prosecution (1982)*** A made for tv adaptation of the classic courtroom drama, which credits Billy Wilder's screenplay of his film version. Ralph Richardson and Deborah Kerr star in this remake and honestly their chemistry is just off the charts and we're left to wonder how they never managed to make a film together before. Wendy Hiller, Diana Rigg and Beau Bridges round out the amazing cast. Lacks the tension and edge of Wilder's film but I'm having too much fun with Ralph to care.
The Major and the Minor (1942)**: Billy Wilder's first film as writer and director has some of the hallmarks of his later, greater works: farce, trains, mistaken identity, and queer themes in the form of a lesbian coded sister of Ginger Roger's romantic rival. That all the fuss is about fairly bland Ray Milland is easy enough to overlook as Wilder makes the film about toying with Rogers image as sophisticated, sexy, dancer. Typical Wilder inside jokes about the film industry abound, such as a craze for Veronica Lake hairdos among the tween set and swipes at Hollywood actors like Charles Boyer Rogers' childish masquerade to avoid paying full adult fare is preceded by a series of calamities where she's pursued and objectified by a lot of nasty older men. Hoping to escape their advances as well as the ignominity of turnstyle jumping, she maintains the charade through a long weekend with a lot of handsy tween boys until Milland's fiancee is discredited as a controlling social climber. There is a bizarre side track into her home town where Rogers also impersonates her mother before revealing her grown adult self to Milland. No one ever accused Billy Wilder of being restrained I guess.
The Children's Hour (1961)**** This classic of queer cinema was necessarily a scorched earth tragedy at the time of its release. William Wyler's dreamy, restless camera drags you into the warm, cozy life of this female partnership between Shirley Maclaine and Audrey Hepburn that seemingly has the potential to be a romantic partnership. When nasty gossips and spoiled children start a rumor that they are a couple, the scandal destroys their business and standing in the community. Terrorized by the homophobic townspeople, they are eventually "cleared" of the crime of being gay for each other, just when Maclaine's character comes to the brutal realization that she really is in love with Audrey Hepburn's character. It's hard to watch her grief and shame as she admits that the bullies have discovered a truth about her that she didn't know herself. A fact so many queer people can find relatable. The film is based on a play by Lilian Hellman which used the topic of homosexuality to expose the cruelty of female narcissists who bully their way into power. There is much in common with Hellman's The Little Foxes in that way, but the film, perhaps owing to Wyler's inherent romanticism has more of a Romeo and Juliet quality than the play. One feels that Audrey Hepburn has perhaps realized the truth in the lie, just a few moments too late.
Sweet Charity (1969)*** Directed by Bob Fosse, starring Shirley MacLaine and Sammy Davis Jr and Chita Rivera this classic musical combines the best of Fossee's signature choreography, sixties pop show tunes and the psychadelic aesthetics of the late 60s. This and the Boyfriend have a lot in common, though I think the music in Sweet Charity is more solid and the contemporary setting makes it a tad edgier. MacLaine plays yet another flavor of sex worker, a dancehall hostess and paid companion who seeks to be elevated out of her life into respectability through marriage. The fiancee here is uptight and lacking in appeal and when he finally just flakes out in the final reel it's no great loss to the film.
Thief (1981)** Atypical heist film starring James Caan and Jim Belushi, directed by Miama Vice creator Michael Mann. You can see the beginnings of that iconic 80s TV show, in this movie which favors long scenes of action being edited to music with sparse dialog. Caan squares off against Tom Signorelli a local mob boss who dares to threaten Caan's wife played by Tuesday Weld.

You know it’s bad when the cocreator of The Matrix thinks your artificial intelligence plan stinks. In June, as the Directors Guild of America was about to sign its union contract with Hollywood studios, Lilly Wachowski sent out a series of tweets explaining why she was voting no. The contact’s AI clause, which stipulates that generative AI can’t be considered a “person” or perform duties normally done by DGA members, didn’t go far enough. “We need to change the language to imply that we won’t use AI in any department, on any show we work on,” Wachowski wrote. “I strongly believe the fight we [are] in right now in our industry is a microcosm of a much larger and critical crisis.”
On Thursday, that crisis hit another major milestone when the Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA)—went on strike. Like the Writers Guild of America, which is also on strike, one of the biggest disputes was over AI. Leading up to the strike, one SAG member told Deadline that actors were beginning to see Black Mirror’s “Joan Is Awful” episode as a “documentary of the future” and another told the outlet that the streamers and studios—which include Warner Bros., Netflix, Disney, Apple, Paramount, and others—“can’t pretend we won’t be used digitally or become the source of new, cheap, AI-created content.”
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the WGA strike and its parallels with the Luddite labor movement. Like the Luddites, writers worry about new forms of automation taking their jobs, but also aren’t anti-tech hard-liners. If AI tools could be used to help writers—to, say, drum up new names for some sci-fi planet—they could serve a purpose without threatening anyone’s livelihood. If writers could be trained to use large language models as tools, that’s one thing. But if they’re used in lieu of writers, or used to write scripts that humans need to fix for lower fees, that’s a problem, the WGA argues. Ultimately, they want a say in how AI gets used in filmmaking.
Actors want that, too. But the way AI could impact their work looks very different. Unlike writers, actors can’t necessarily be trained to use those tools to produce their work—the AI was trained on them. Yes, if generative AI creates, say, a scene in a film, actors will have to be hired to give those performances, but it’s easy to see why they want protections on the use of their likenesses—and are willing to strike to get them.
Hollywood’s glitzy stars taking a stand to keep AI in check feels like a turning point, especially this week when the US Federal Trade Commission also launched an investigation into ChatGPT maker OpenAI. The FTC is looking into OpenAI’s data collection practices and its potential to give consumers bad information, but these things happening at once create a sense that AI is about more than just asking ChatGPT to write poetry or getting Stable Diffusion to draw a fish on a bicycle.
Though AI’s potential to impact human labor has been a topic of conversation for months, in recent days those conversations have begun to bubble over across industries. This week, the WGA East slammed G/O Media over its use of AI, following a Star Wars article that appeared on Gizmodo full of errors. The union called AI-generated articles an “existential threat to journalism” and noted the similarities between journalists and the striking screenwriters. Meanwhile, on Monday, comedian Sarah Silverman became the face of a pair of class-action lawsuits against OpenAI and Meta, accusing the companies of copyright infringement for allegedly training their AIs on her book The Bedwetter. Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo backed her, saying it “will most likely become a landmark case.”
Will any of this stop the rise of the bots? No. It doesn’t even negate that AI could be useful in a lot of fields. But what it does do is demonstrate that people are paying attention—especially now that bold-faced names like Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence are talking about artificial intelligence. On Tuesday, Deadline reported that the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios, was prepared for the WGA to strike for a long time, with one exec telling the publication “the end game is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses.” Soon, Hollywood will find out if actors are willing to go that far, too.

He is getting flack right now because he's dating a racist, anti-semitic fatphobic immature teen-looking actress, and he refuses to address it or even make her apologize for her actions.
He deserves the flack he's getting because he benefitted for years from being the fake type of "woke" celebrity who is only "woke" as long as it helps line his pockets.
He spoke out against Trump in wild ways and it was impressive and he earned so many fans from that.
So to find out it was all just a tactic to gain likes on social media, more fans and followers, and that it might not even have been him writing those?
Disgrace. You should never use political views and statements as an agenda like that and you shouldn't use it to gain popularity if you're not prepared to stand up for similar issues later on. He has been dead quiet through out this entire year with everything that's been going on which says so much.
Mark Ruffalo never stayed quiet, even when it most certainly must have resulted in him losing followers. And that's because he's a real activist and not just a fake one who joins in when it's beneficial to him.

In una Londra da "futuro anteriore" (probabilmente vittoriana), il dottor Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), un Frankestein con ambizioni fantascientifiche restituisce la vita all'aspirante suicida Bella (una credibilissima Emma Stone) che da aspirante diventa poi effettivamente suicida nelle torbide acque del Tamigi; in realtà il suicidio riesce a metà, poiché questo Dottor Calligari alla rovescia, invece di farsi i fatti suoi, raccoglie il cadavere della sventurata che è pure incinta e la porta nel suo laboratorio dove, con una operazione in day-hospital, preleva il cervello del nascituro e lo inseirsce nella scatola cranica della giovane donna. Il risultato finale è un corpo di donna con il cervello di un neonato. Del resto anche Goldwin Baxter non dovrebbe aver avuto un'infanzia tranquilla, in considerazione del suo aspetto a dir poco inquietante. A sorvegliare i progressi della donna-bambina vien chiamato Max McCandles, giovane studente di medicina che la aiuterà a districarsi nel mondo, compreso quello dell'eros, tanto che il dottor Baxter decide di darla in moglie al giovane studente. "Bella" però si invaghisce di Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), un avvocato capitato per combinazione in casa Baxter. Con Wedderburn, Bella intraprende una sorta di "Grand Tour" del piacere e dei piaceri tra Lisbona, Alessandria d'Egitto e Parigi. Ma il viaggio insegna anche alla giovane cos'è la povertà e il bisogno, tanto che, quando a causa di una perdita al gioco Wedderburn finisce sul lastrico, Bella decide di prostituirsi in un bordello parigino, facendo così conoscenza con il cinismo degli uomini, ma anche con le necessità materiali. Tornata a casa Bella decide di sposare Max, ma al matrimonio si oppone Alfie Blessington, militare e militarista che fu il marito di Bella, prima del tragico quasi-suicidio. Sempre desiderosa di nuove esperienze Bella acconsente di vivere con l'uomo che presto si rivelerà un tirannico maschilista. Liberatasi di lui con una salutare pistolettata in un piede, Bella torna da Baxter, che nel frattempo è sul letto di morte, ma ancora abbastanza desideroso di sperimentazione, tanto da inserire il cervello di Blessington nella testolina di una deliziosa capretta. Raccontato così il film di Yorgos Lanthimos potrebbe sembrare una abominevole boiata, ma niente di più sbagliato poiché si tratta di un film visionario e neo-barocco di grandissima poesia, aggiungerei “sorprendentemente”, poiché bisogna ammettere che il plot narrativo, letto a tavolino, qualche ragionevolissimo dubbio lo può sollevare. “Poor Things!” si muove infatti in quell’ambito del cinema “fantasy” che è spesso un genere che, con una certa facilità, può scadere nella banalità. Lanthimos riesce nell’impresa di costruire una storia raccontata anche attraverso una ambientazione oltremodo affascinante e giocata tutta in una dialettica serrata tra scenografia (Zsuzsa Mihalek) e tecniche di ripresa inconsuete (come le lenti grandangolari della macchina da presa). Oltre a qualche irrinunciabile effetto speciale, ma usato con molta misura, sono assolutamente pregevoli le ricostruzioni delle città (Londra, Lisbona, Alessandria e Parigi), piranesiane ed eccessive, disneyane e langhiane. Non c’è infatti nel film solo la lezione di Robert Wiene, ma anche quella di Fritz Lang con qualche strizzata d’occhio allo Scorsese di “Hugo Cabret”. Il film veicola, con una stravagante originalità, anche un forte messaggio anti-patriarcale. Non nuovissima l’idea della sfasatura temporale dello sviluppo corpo-mente che ebbe già la sua apoteosi cinematografica nell’indimenticabile “L’Enfant sauvage” di Francois Truffaut. Sconsigliato ai deboli di stomaco, ma consigliatissimo alle menti immaginifiche.
