The amount of angry Ichihimes that Bleach subreddit has is so annoying lol. You will get downvoted hard for saying even a basic pro-ichiruki fact lol. And you're literally not allowed to say you dislike Ichihime, they will start calling you delusional Ichiruki, even though you might not even ship them 🤡

U being anti IH what if the same thing happens to gjhm and they become canon but don't have as much material as other ship?
I'm not sure if you're asking this with malicious intent or if it's a genuine question from a fellow shipper, but here we go.
(Oncoming lengthy response)
I've actually had this thought before. What if despite his different writing style, the general hate the Bleach ED got, & just how ridiculous it sounds, Gege pulled a Kubo? After all, he's a fanboy of the man (I wonder what he thinks of the Bleach ED? Is he aware of how it was received?).
I would be shocked, conflicted, & worried.
To start with, while neither ship should be compared due to how fundamentally different they are, I will say this. Despite several interactions, IH severely lacked chemistry, trust, & meaningful moments. Meanwhile, GojoHime with less on-screen interactions & a playful dynamic, have shown us a deep trust for each other & have worked together to achieve their shared goals. Despite being a minor side character, Utahime is one of the few people Gojo trusts & one of the three adults he calls by first name with no honorific. This already puts them leagues above IH, who were barely friends at best & acquaintances at worst.
So, I wouldn't want GjHm to somehow get the IH treatment in the end. I wouldn't wish that on any shipper, heck, I even feel sort of bad for the IH's, cuz despite becoming "canon" out of nowhere 7 years ago, they still. don't. have. content (especially from the author himself, who has shown no particular interest in his endgames. They don't even have a family sketch 🫢). Makes you wonder who really lost here (as IR has still gotten some content over the years post-ED...).
GjHm already gets enough hate for simply existing, despite it being a smaller ship with a smaller fanbase in the JJK fandom (the antis are threatened by the potential it has, not to mention it's the most popular JJK straight ship in Japan), so if Gege were to pull a Kubo, the hate would increase, especially towards Utahime, who of course would amass the most hate from this freakin' fandom that's obsessed with Gojo. It'd be a tough time for us fans of the ship & Utahime.
After dealing with the aftermath of the Naruto Shipping Wars as a soldier in the NaruHina army lol (don't even get me started on why NH is NOT like IH, plus we actually have content 🤪), & then witnessing the disastrous Bleach ED & the general hate it got, I do NOT wish to go thru this again. Whether you win or lose, if it isn't done properly, you'll still deal with criticism left & right... (why can't more battle shounens be like Fairy Tail when it comes to slowly developing the ships throughout the story? There'd be less drama...)
Gege keeps saying the manga will end soon, so that means if he wants to make anyone canon by the end, he'll have to start now. JJK is a battle shounen with no romance, but if despite this, GjHm are to be canon, then their moments leading up to it will have to be quality > quantity. Is there enough room/time to develop them the way we would wish? Doubt it, so we'll need at least a couple flashbacks to further justify them (and boy, we're still waiting for their flashback after Gojo's unsealing, if that ever comes...).
Basically, even if it's a few moments, they need to be impactful enough to make even the casual readers/viewers think, "I could see them ending up together." Subtlety & slow burn are usually the best fit for battle shounens, after all, &/or maybe a little further (once again, like Fairy Tail). With that said, out of all the potential ships in the series, I personally view YutaMaki as the most likely to become canon by the end; their moments, far & few in between, are enough to convince me that they could be endgame (that is, if the capricious Gege so wished 😓).
So far, we've seen nothing of what Gojo & Utahime truly think of each other. To reiterate, they have a silly dynamic but have shown to trust each other implicitly. Why this is, we can only guess. I mean, Utahime has risked her life for Gojo twice already (investigating the mole & buffing him against Sukuna). Where is this supposed "hate" she holds for him? It's stated in the databook that she hates him most of the time, so how does she feel at other times? 🤔 And Gojo, despite his teasing, has shown he cares for her, saved her, & obviously trusted her with the aforementioned important & risky tasks.
Just what is going on with these two? Is it really so impossible that there could be something more here? Whether now or later? Gege would just need to give us a little more... Though at this point, there's only so much we can hope for, considering his writing style & how things have been seemingly going... Gotta keep our expectations low...
(What if—delulu plot twist—GjHm are already together, either secretly this whole time—like some ppl have wondered, as this could further explain the immense trust in each other—or got together during the timeskip, & all we need now is the big reveal with a/some proper flashback(s) to explain it? LOL. Just a silly idea 😜).
Anyway, in general, I wouldn't want GjHm becoming canon at the cost of its beautiful potential. We'd need some more moments to justify it, or else I'd have to put back on my old "army uniform" to defend my ship if need be. So, despite how unlikely it would be, I can only hope Gege does NOT pull a Kubo (well, he's more likely to kill everyone off or something like that 🙄).
I'd rather he pulled a Sorachi (author of Gintama) & left things open-ended, keeping the fandom from turning into utter chaos...
(Maybe only that side might lose it, tho, lol. They get bothered by anything that doesn't adhere to their ship despite them being down here with us in Delulu Land, oop-).

The big ones: IchiHime and SasuSaku
S*suSaku
The scene you started to dislike them in
From the moment the characters were introduced. She was just fawning over him because of his popularity and it was so superficial. I instantly got the worst impression of them. They got worse the first time he called her annoying (I think that may have been episode 3 if I'm not mistaken when she was talking about parents). Bad vibes
The worst scene of them
Him stabbing her in the genjutsu
Something about them that just makes you annoyed
The way her self-esteem is terrible around him and she just lets him treat her like garbage because she thinks that's what she deserves. The writer romanticizes that.
Which one is the worse in the relationship
They're both really really bad for each other in different ways but Sasuke is worse because he's more violent and has done worse things to her.
If you can see any appeal to why others ship them
Not really. Literally the only thing I can think of that's remotely appealing is the blue/pink aesthetic but that's entirely superficial
If there is any scene of them that you actually think is ok
I can't think of any off the top of my head but any of their semi "decent" scenes were in the context of Team 7 acting like a family unit in part 1. They were the most civil to each other during that time but I still think it was more like a family relationship
Ich*Hime
The scene you started to dislike them in
Like SS, from the moment they first interacted I disliked them because I hated how Ori acted like this idiotic fangirl around him and their interactions were just uncomfortable the first arc
The worst scene of them
Orihime begging IchiThing to save her during The Lust Arc. That was the moment that proved without a doubt how terrible they are for each other.
Something about them that just makes you annoyed
I hate how Ichigo just never ever showed any evidence of liking her romantically throughout the series and yet we're supposed to buy that he loves her and would want to marry her out of nowhere.
Which one is the worse in the relationship
Orihime for sure. Ichigo isn't all that kind to her and doesn't put any effort into understanding her emotionally but she is downright obsessive and absolutely refused to let go of her infatuation
If you can see any appeal to why others ship them
Nope. There's just nothing. They don't look good together. They aren't entertaining. It's just a ship for people who want to project themselves onto Ichigo so they can get the submissive moe chick or project themselves onto the "nice girl" so they can get the hero. It's extremely creepy just like SasuS*ku is.
If there is any scene of them that you actually think is ok
Not off the top of my head. They had a few good friendship scenes but usually in the context of the entire friend group. They were okay to each other most of the time as friends. They didn't have much friendship development overall though so it's difficult to even remember their good moments

Hey there. I have been looking at your blog as a long time Ukitake fan n I'm so happy to see another fan appreciating him as much as I do. Thank you for creating the much needed content. So I have been curious abt smth. Do u find Orihime irritating? Coz I do. If so then when did it start? For me it started when she was in Ichigo's room saying goodbye to him instead of Tatsuki. That angered me x(
Omg anon I’m sorry I have no idea how long this ask has been sitting here lmao
I’m so glad to find more people who love Ukitake as much as I do, he’s so special to me and I love him dearly 🥺
As for your question; honestly I used to really HATE Orihime; but now I think she is fine. I don’t hate her but I don’t necessary love her either. (I’m still salty about IchiHime but that’s a rabbit hole I’d rather not get into rn LMAO)
I do think Orihime could have been really interesting and I wish she had more time to shine (besides the moments of her either gushing or crying about Ichigo lol 🙄)
But yea. Overall, I think she’s fine. She’s very cute design-wise and I see her appeal but I just think there are a lot more interesting female characters (Like Rukia, Yoruichi, etc).

I hate girlboss x malewife ships where it's a pathetic guy who's obsessed with a cool girl who's not nearly into him as he is her and people call it bisexuality.I want them BOTH down bad,i want them BOTH pampering eachother nonstop,i want them BOTH going to the ends of the earth for their love,i want them BOTH to be actual characters instead 'She's everything,he's just Ken' and acting like that's feminist instead of writing women as perfect and men as people.Forget girlboss x malewife,i want Equalit4ty

Why Ichigo And Rukia Ended Up With The Right People
In Bleach, Ichigo ends up with Orihime, Rukia is with Renji. Since it's part of the shonen genre, it doesn't center around romance and would be unlikely to focus on romantic relationships, as there were other interesting and exciting things happening.
The Problem With Ichigo X Rukia
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though he becomes a Shinigami, he isn't technically a soul. He was not born in Soul Society and never died to go there. If he wanted to be with Rukia, he would either have to wait and die from old age or die right away and part with everyone else way too soon. Rukia is a soul who ages extremely slowly and will probably never die. Their families are in different worlds, so their priorities are incompatible.
This might be the single biggest factor in Orihime's favor against Rukia: she won't outlive Ichigo by hundreds of years. After all, Ichigo is a substitute Soul Reaper, but not a full-fledged one. It was only ever touched on vaguely because the shinigami are all spirits/souls, and things like time and age aren't something that hold much meaning to them anymore. Roughly in the beginnings of the series, Rukia mentions that she's 10 times older than Ichigo (who was 15 at the time).
Ichigo also looks like Kaien Shiba, Rukia’s mentor and the man that she admired. Due to this, even Byakuya himself understood why Rukia would feel a connection for Ichigo. Rukia realized the parallels between Kaien’s last fight with Ichigo’s battle against Grand Fisher, the Hollow that had killed Masaki Kurosaki. As such, she views them as similar and so would be unlikely to have romantic feelings for someone resembling her late mentor. In fact, she keeps comparing Kaien and Ichigo throughout the Soul Society arc.
Rukia and Renji
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rukia and Renji grew up together as orphaned Soul children in Soul Society. They shared the same experiences, jointly discovering the gift of Reiatsu that earned them a place in the Shin’o Academy. Their mutual goal was to become Shinigami, gain higher ranks, and grow stronger. When Rukia tells Renji the Kuchiki clan wants to adopt her, he acts happy but is deeply upset because he predicts they will grow apart. Still, he tries to hide his sadness because Rukia finally has a family. Unfortunately, Renji falsely believes that he's not important to her anymore.
While this saddened Rukia, he only reacted in the way he believed was best for her, and that ended up making him feel guilty about her potential execution. Chapter 98 was devoted to how Renji considered Rukia an unattainable “star” that he, a “tramp,” could never reach. If he just wanted friendship, why did he feel he had to stay out of Rukia’s way? If she just wanted friendship, why did she expect him to protest? The answer is simple: Her adoption didn’t get in the way of friendship, but in the way of the “something more” that they wanted.
Tumblr media
Renji's feelings towards her have always been apparent, as far back as when they were kids. As they originally met around several years ago in the Soul Society, they've been around each other for quite a while. One evening, the two of them were unsuccessfully attempting to catch fish when Renji finally managed to snare one. When he turned around, he saw the rest of his friends staring at Rukia longingly. As anyone with a crush themselves would do, Renji admonished his friends for looking at her with love-struck eyes.
Renji's feelings for Rukia are crystal clear, even when he doesn't acknowledge them. On the other hand, Rukia finds it difficult to express her emotions, especially after joining the Kuchiki clan and her stranied relationship with her brother Byakuya. However, there are several instances that prove her love for Renji beyond the shadow of a doubt. In fact, Rukia obviously cares for Renji even after he attacks Ichigo in the Agent of the Shinigami arc. Although Ichigo and Rukia also love each other, their friendship is considerably less intense than her lifelong attachment for Renji.
Ichigo and Orihime
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Orihime’s crush on Ichigo was evident from the first few chapters. She even had trouble being articulate in front of him, although part of her character development was how she gained confidence in herself. As for him, he was ready to sacrifice his life for her from the very beginning, when he put himself between her and her brother Sora (who became a Hollow). He almost always singles her out, speaks up for her and he even defends her.
When the Espadas allow Orihime to say goodbye to one person before she is taken to Hueco Mundo, she picks Ichigo even though he's still unconscious from an earlier fight. She explains how she could have picked one of the others, but Ichigo was the person she needed to see one last time. Orihime says how there were so many things she wished she had gotten to do and how she would like to live five times to try multiple different things, but that she'd always fall in love with the same person... Ichigo.
Ichigo literally came back from death for Orihime during his fight with Ulquiorra, all because she pleaded him not to die. Orihime also places her body between Ichigo and Acidwire to protect Ichigo. Ichigo puts himself between Grimmjow’s Ceros and Orihime without hesitation. Orihime more than willingly goes to fight Yhwach alongside Ichigo, serving as the latter's defense. Even Ulquiorra, Grimmjow, and Nnoitora all mocked him for wanting to protect her and underlined how she was the motivation for him to fight more fiercely.
In the early chapters, Orihime knew that Kon wasn't the real Ichigo when he was running wild inside Ichigo's body and being his perverted self. He jumped into Ichigo's classroom, made a move on Orihime, and then kissed Tatsuki before being forced to flee. Orihime knew right away that wasn't the real Ichigo, forgiving him of actions that would have got him in hot water with any other girl. It's a testament to how much Orihime cared about him. That said, Ichigo would have never acted that way in the first place.
Ichigo & Rukia Contributed To Each Other’s Relationships
It's kinda interesting to note that both Rukia and Ichigo have worked to boost each other's relationships. Remember, Rukia was the one who dragged Ichigo to apologize to an injured Orihime. Rukia was the initial reason why Ichigo and Orihime came closer together and were more expressive of their desire to protect each other. At the same time, Ichigo was the catalyst for Rukia and Renji to become close again after decades of avoiding each other. Ichigo was not meant to interfere in their relationship as a third party, but to help them realize the complete range of their feelings for each other.

This is why I be calling cap when these antis claim The Last isn’t canon. Like bitch we have PRE-SERIES PROOF.
Just like IchiHime, we knew LONG before their respective series ended that their creators were planning to have them end up together. Yet these people still want to live in their delusions

Fun fact: These screenshots are from before Chad and Inoue appeared...
They want so bad for their ship to make sense and seem natural...
Meanwhile, Kuchiki Byakuya:

And let me remind you that, between the 3rd and 4th pictures there's a cut to the skies opening and Ichigo appearing.
The animators created extra scenes to give us Byakuya staring at the skies, watching Ichigo's entrance...

My man Kubo really wrote a poem in the early stages of Bleach for Orihime thinking about being rain while it literally represents Ichigo's sadness and depression and which by the way was stopped because of entirely DIFFERENT woman but he still has the guts to say Ichi*ime was planned from the start to be canon.
Like just admit you are bad at writing a decent romantic build-up. Bruh

MidBleach got no awards at that anime awards show even though Western stans keep claiming how peak it is & better than the other competing animes 😂. Japan doesn't think so, however. Honestly, if I wasn't still somewhat in the fandom (esp on the IR side), I wouldn't be hearing anything about Bl3ach. The only time it really stepped out of its fandom space that even non-fans saw it, was when Rukia's bankai went viral (just queen things 💅). Other than that, I don't really see/hear anything about it. Meanwhile, I see things from other animes that I don't even watch or simply aren't in their fandoms 🤷‍♀️

When canon shippers in a fandom feel the need to write essays on why their favourite canon pairing works, it’s a sign that the canon pairing from the original source material was weakly written. And as a result, we have people reacting for straws when they are explaining symbolisms not really related to the content or the “subtle hints” of having feelings for the other, which aren’t really subtle, but actually something people do on a daily basis (for example, describing a scene a single glance mentioned in the book or in a panel and coming up with a +300 words on how it’s a sign of “true love” or “feelings”.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but when I support canon ships, I don’t have this need or feeling to write an essay on why they work. “They are good in my head, let’s move on.” I get a lot more excited than that, but that’s my general thought pattern when liking a canon ship.

I find it annoying how some people claim if you don't support ichi/hime you hate Orihime. I find the ship boring and I also don't like dynamics where the characters don't challenge each other. Orihime has good dynamics with other characters, like with Tatsuki, Ishida and Ulquoirra which are far more interesting than her dynamic with Ichigo.
Not that I care to speak for ichi/ruki either, because so many of them are hypocrites who insist SS/NH from Naruto make sense while bashing ichi/hime; despite the fact ichi/hime is better than both of those ships (and so is ichi/ruki). They claim Orihime can't do anything for Ichigo despite the fact that's 100% Sakura's dynamic with Sasuke. She even lamented about this herself during her confession; "I can't trade blows with you, I can't get close to you, all I can do is cry and beg." "Orihime is afraid of Ichigo's hollow" well Sakura literally withers like a dying flower when Sasuke ignores her or says something that could be considered a critique. "Orihime's feelings were onesided! She was just a friend!" well Hinata wasn't even a close friend, just a comrade/classmate.
Anyway I didn't like the ending or how Kubo handled Orihime and Rukia's characters in the last part of the manga.
