I wanted to do a small panel comic about an idea I came up with a while ago but didn't tell them about cause I wanted it to be a birthday surprise. I know they're a fan of love at first sight and meet cute ideas so I figured why not set up a story based around their job at the school.

Papyrus walked the halls of the elementary school, him and Sans had come to pick Frisk up due to Toriel having to stay behind at the school to grade papers and make preparations for the next day. Planning requires peace, which is something the young pacifist themself didn't really know how to keep well with their knack for getting themselves in trouble. Which is why Papyrus is showing off his capabilities of being an amazing uncle by babysitting Frisk while Toriel was busy!

He stops outside the door to Toriel's classroom, not wanting to walk inside and distract the kids inside. He had arrived a bit early since the bell hadn't rung to signal the end of the day yet, but you don't become captain of the royal guard by being late! He's always on time for everything, if not, then he's early- Where did Sans go? He was just walking beside Papyrus a moment ago.

Oh well, that seems like a later problem, he'd find his brother after he got Frisk. Sans probably just wandered off to find something to sleep on while they waited.

A loud ringing noise is played through the halls over the intercom, children immediately bolting out of the classroom doors to run to their buses or the gym to wait for their parents to arrive. Papyrus walks into the classroom once the coast is clear for him to get through the doorway without getting trampled by a heard of children.

"FRISK, WE HAVE ARRIVED TO TAKE YOU HOME. WELL, I HAVE ARRIVED, SANS IS PROBABLY LOST SOMEWHERE." Frisk shoves all their schoolwork into their bag without caution, no time for organization when it's time to leave, walking over to Papyrus and reaching over to grab his gloved hand. "NOW, READY TO GO HOME?"

They nod.

"OKAY, LET'S FIND MY BROTHER SO WE CAN ALL LEAVE!" Papyrus turns to look at Toriel, who is sorting papers out while sipping at her drink. "FAREWELL, LADY AS- TORIEL. WE SHALL SEE YOU WHEN YOU'RE DONE."

"Goodbye Papyrus, and thank you again for watching over Frisk."

"OF COURSE, I AM THE WORLD'S GREATEST UNCLE AFTER ALL!" Papyrus leaves the classroom with Frisk, looking around the halls to try finding his brother.

It would make sense to check the library first, that is where the beanbags are at after all! If Papyrus was lazy, which he isn't, he'd go for the beanbags to rest on! He makes his way into the library, searching around the place only to find the beanbags empty. Damn, guess his first guess wasn't correct, maybe the computer lab to mess with the computer wallpapers? Although he did only check the beanbag area, Sans could be somewhere else in the library. It's difficult finding your brother when he's basically the same height as every 5th grader.

"HE BLENDS IN TOO WELL WITH THE KIDS HERE BEING NEAR HIS HEIGHT!" Papyrus hears slight laughter from beside him, see, he can be funny too!

Papyrus feels a tug on his sleeve, turning his attention to Frisk, "HAVE YOU FOUND HIM?" Frisk nods, pointing towards one of the tables, standing near the group of kids doing homework was Sans, talking with an adult human, maybe you're a teacher? He can only see the back of you but can see Sans clearly, he looks smug like he just told the greatest pun ever.

Poor human must have had to sit through at least fifty of them by now.

"so i said the dentist that story sounds a lot like a fibula, you sure you're telling the tooth here?"

Papyrus hears a sigh followed by a few chuckles, well he's here to save the human from hearing another long joke with a lame punchline! "BROTHER, THERE YOU AR-"

You turn around to look at Papyrus, he feels his soul momentarily stop beating, like it got struck by cupid's bone attack right on the spot. It feels like such a foreign yet extremely familiar feeling.

"oh, hey bro, i was just telling the teach here the best kind of stories."

Papyrus snaps out of his sudden silence, "YOU WERE JUST SAYING PUNS AGAIN!"

"yeah, best kind of story telling"

"IT REALLY ISN'T-"

You look over at the table to see all the childrens's eyes on the two brothers, finding their bickering more entertaining than their work. "Sorry but can you please keep your voice down in the library, sir..?"

"OH, I'M PAPY- Sorry, I Didn't Mean To Cause A Scene, I'm Papyrus, And You Are?"

You tell him your name and he repeats it as if he's said it thousands of times before.

He learnt not to call her mom after she threw a glass bottle at him, yelling to ‘never call me that again!’ “Take this,” She said, shoving a yellow backpack in his face. “And fill it with everything you need, I'm gonna drop you off somewhere for a few days.” She stated, before turning around and stomping off, not waiting to hear her son's reaction.
