Gwen x Gen neutral (fem) reader?? 👉👈 where reader is also a spider-person and Miguel introduces them to the others and it's basically like a love in first sight thing? maybe? reader's spider powers is up to you of course!! ^^
mirrored hearts
Tumblr media
gwen stacy x afab!reader(gn)
summary: gwen has never met anyone like you before.
warnings: cursing, miguel being tired, made up multiverse(?), reader is inspired by trinity from the matrix.
a/n: such a cute req, hope this is to your liking!!
°°°°
WHEN MIGUEL O'HARA first met you, he saw in your eyes the kind of look he once had. An unbridled rage, towards the world, or towards yourself, he couldn't tell. But he did know that the anger, if untrained, could destroy you.
It is the year 80077, an anomaly has been seen in your universe, an additional problem to your already dangerous world. Spot, as you've identified, is not human, at least not anymore. Living in a world ruled by artifical intelligence with only 0.8% of trueborn humans existing, you aren't exactly bothered anymore with non human villains.
But 4 years since you became the remaiming human population's Spider-droid, you've yet to be met with one like him.
You would've caught him, of course, if you weren't distracted by a random multiverse hooe opening itself up in the middle of the underground wiring lab. The stupidly large looking spider-man did not hesitate to fling a badly designed watch towards you after a 15 minutes argument between the two of you gave Spot time to enter another spiderverse.
You would've flung the watch back at his face out of spite if you weren't curious to know where the road might lead you.
"That rebellious streak you have is going to end up costing you your life, you know?" The spider-man tells you after you're done insulting and cursing his whole family line. "I should hope so, because the only way I'll go down is with my head up high."
He rolls his eyes, muttering a 'cliche ass' under his breath before the two of you appear in the large headquarters.
You ignore the rapid spider-people around you, not wanting to betray your awe in front of Miguel. When another door opens for him, a much quieter space reveals itself to you.
"I don't like half of people we're about to meet either but I'll expect you to refrain insulting any of them in more than two languages, the only reason we're all here us because the fate of the mul-" "-multiverse depends on us, yeah I got that in the first 10 speeches you manage to give on our 1 minutes ride." You're pleased with the tired sigh leaving him.
You could see a few teenagers hanging around Miguel's desk, but what caught your attention was the dark skinned pregnant women making her way straight to him. "You should've called for backup." Her voice booms as she nears you both.
"Didn't need to, I had her." He says simply, nudging his head towards you before flinging himself upwards to his table. "Who the fuck opened dress up games on my tab?" You hear him yell, eyes directly at a man with a baby strapped to his chest.
You take a quick look at all of them before zeroing down on the girl, your eyes connected, and you sensed she was either uncomfortable or afraid of how your eyes are squinting on her. "Spider-droid, is what most people call me." You say, eyes still directly on her. "Droid? As in robots?" The big eyed looking teenager next to her asks.
"-And, who is she exactly?" The afro haired women ask, eyeing you up and down. A small crowd then began to form in front of you, Miguel then, finally has the curtesy to come back down in between you and the spider-people. "A spider-person. He responds with a sarcastic air in his tone, making the blonde with pink strands scoff aloud.
"Do you like, fight robots?" Miguel snorts at him, and you glared at Miguel. "Depends, most of my populations are robots, rather than trueborn humans."
The blonde opens her mouth to ask a question you already knew coming, you cut her off before she speaks. "I would be considered, a full human, if it werent for-" You wave your steel made left arm up, flexing the fingers, earning a few gasps and hums of understanding. "-this."
The silence came then, even Miguel seemed to be suprised, not taking notice of your arm before. "I-" She starts. You raise your brows at her. "I'm Gwen." You laughed, a short but unhelpable laugh. "Nice to meet you, Gwen." That has seemsed to snap Miguel out of his subconscious. It seems that man is allergic to social interaction that is anything but necessary.
"We can't let you go back for a while, I'll have your unierse supervised for any signs of Spot returning, but I have a feeling I know where he's going next, and I want you in." Your eyes snap at him and he gives you a look that challenged you to deny him. So you say nothing.
"Good. Penni, I want you to show her to the weaponary room, see if she can attach anything to that steel arm of hers, it'd be useful." Penni, who you just noticed exist, smiled widely, and you notice her gigantic robot-pet looking friend.
Before eitner of you moved, Gwen speaks up. "I can take her, I-uh, I need a new...new-uh, gun?" Miguel's eyes widen as he asks, "New gun? You need a new gun?" His voice in utter disbelief. "For backup, its handy-" She defends himself, resulting in him just waving her off, eyes shut in frustration. "Oh for fu- fine, whatever." He leaves in a split second away from you all.
Gwen and you watched him fly himself up his table before finally looking back at eachother. She's staring at you the same way as before, mouth open, confused.
You raised a brow in question and she just looks more confused. "Gwen." You speak. "Yeah?" "Will you take me to the weaponry room now, I don't bite, I promise."
Her mouth shuts close, and she lets out a wide eyed nervous laugh, shaking her head. "Right, the weaponry! I definitely um, remember, where it is!" She says, moving to walk in front of you as you follow her steps closely.
Your pace quickens until you're next to her, you notice she seema more relaxed than a minute ago. You were used to fear, and cautionary. You were raised by those standards. When your parents had died of mercury poisoning, you've taken their place in a fast succeeding company of scientific research at the age of 15, only a spider-droid for a year before the occurance.
All the tragedies that has happened to you, all to lead you here, in a building full of people who are just like you, yet nothing like you. When Miguel had told you of this, you almost tamed some hope of finding kindred spirits, but time and time again, you fall back into the hands of fear, and cautionary.
"We're here." She squeaked, making you flinch out if your daydream. "You gonna get your gun?" You ask jokingly. Gwen lets out a short laugh. "No, I don't think so. But um, I'll show you in." She offers, walking you in the guns and shooters section, the bulletproof suit vests' right next to it.
"I already have lasers, I don't think I'll be needing a gun either, or anything Miguel thinks can make me better." You explain, looking around the room. You see Gwen nods her head, eyeing your arm. "Well, If you want to take a shower instead, you can use a room im staying in here. How do you shower with that?" She asks. You give her a small smile, putting down a revolver you've been holding, back down to its place before turning to leave the room. "I take it off."
She was silent for a while, until you hear her mumble "Goddamn." As she walks behind you.

Caine's Limitations as an A.I
So one of the more interesting things I've noticed watching digital circus that I haven't seen anyone else comment on is how Caine actually works as a sentient AI.
Because there is a clear method to when he glitches out or is hammered down by his limitations as an artifical intelligence that has developed sentience.
Caine's great limits arent so much what he isnt programmed for, but rather what he is.
Caine understands the world around him, and has clearly grown beyond his original limitations... But he hasn't actually overcome them.
Tumblr media
Caine has over the years grown enough as a creator to the point he's able to effectively create other worlds...
Tumblr media
But he isnt capable of expanding on the circus and it's grounds in any meaningful way, leaving it as barebones as it was when it was first programmed in the 90's.
The reason for this seems to be because this was something that was going to be "added later" by the original team, who never got to insert any of it, but there was clear limits put on Caine to prevent him from accessing it, and ao he has a blue screen of death when he tries to explain the "planned for later" features to Pomni.
Tumblr media
These aspects were never meant to be something Caine was supposed to interact with, and its cardcoded so hard into the game that despite all his growth, he has never been able to overcome it.
Tumblr media
Also there are the odd bits of clear cut user agreements and warnings that are frankly out of place, but was also hardcoded so hard into him that he never managed to get ridd of.
Tumblr media
He has grown to such a degree that he truely is able to create fully sentient life... But because he was hardcoded to label players and NPC's as "important" and "only relevant for the games" he is unable to trancend his role as a conputer program into role as a digital diety, instead stuck in the role as a circus master.
Tumblr media
One of the more interesting parts is of course his reaction to the exits, because it's all over the place.
Sometimes he freezes, sometimes he presents a somewhat true(If still not one with the full picture) accounting of how he made exit doors but inconplete, and sometimes he violently rejects it.
It's something he knows his players desperately wants, but he is coded bot to worry about it... And yet he tried anyway. It's a promising outcome, which suggests that Caine, given the right motivation IS able to mentally overcome even his hardcoded limitations... If not necessarily be able to actually carry it out.

The core of Fullmetal Alchemist: All is one and Dwarf in the flask
Dwarf in a bottle is in my top 5 favorite FMA characters. No, not Father, that emotionless bland white bread empty husk, Dwarf, the whole. The sort of ball of void, the existential anomaly, so inhumanely human full with sins and individuality.
Fullmetal Alchemist is about willpower. About determination, about pursuing your goals without relenting. It is also about humility and about knowledge.
That is reflected in both the protagonist and the villain, though it is a theme common in most characters.  Both Edward and Dwarf in a bottle pursue their goals with great determination and will. Then, what is good with the manner of one and wrong with the other’s?
I believe a lot of it is about the very concept Dwarf symbolizes. Dwarf in the flask is artificiality.
An alchemy-made life. An artificial family. An artificial pursuit of knowledge and power, without caring about the journey of self-betterment that comes along with it, without caring to understand alchemy and its place in the world. Not only an artifical physical being, but also artificial emotionally; ripping apart his feelings and personality traits deemed negative to make himself into a “superior” being.
I think it’s also worth noting that yes, purging sins out of himself makes him lose those traits, even feelings. Then, if not greed, if not it all, what is pushing Father to pursue power? Greed said it himself: greed isn’t inherently bad, it’s the act of wanting. Father isn’t spiraling into a mad passion for alchemy, a pursuit of knowledge for innovation, or anything, he pursued his plan because he went through the motions, simply. As his feelings left him, all that stayed was the conviction without reasoning that since it was his plan before, he should see it to the end. Or perhaps it’s the course of action he logically came to. Perhaps alchemical enlightenment was deemed the obvious ultimate goal to have, without being interested in why it is or why it should be. Regardless, he lacks the passion and emotional intelligence to actually see the value in what he is doing, in alchemy, and ultimately that is what is punished.
I want to do a full dissection of the whole homunculus family, but I’m going to touch on some aspects of it here because it’s such an interesting topic to me. Disregarding Lust’s claim that homunculi are all individuals with a full range of emotions for a moment, I want to analyze what their traits mean in the angle that they fundamentally formed a whole all together as Father, or Dwarf in the flask.  The homunculus that is shown to be the most attached to his family members is Gluttony. The homunculus that is shown to be the most attached to relationships, in general, is Greed. Greed and Gluttony are then the homunculi, the traits, that care about people the most. And that makes sense, no? You don’t want to lose things you care about, you want to bathe in their love and their presence, and you want to keep having them for as long as you want, greed and gluttony aren’t unsimilar. Greed is interested in friendship and having companions, in possessing people’s hearts and loyalties, in making new connections and bonding with new faces. Gluttony is more interested in getting more of what he already has, more love in that way he already likes by the person he already loves, like wanting more of the familiar taste of its favorite meal. Other similar traits are pride and envy, the traits that affect your self-image. The feeling that you are remarkable and great and the feeling of wanting what others have or are, valuing yourself vs comparing yourself to others. By detaching parts of a whole, things get lost; Pride feels wholly superior but is ready to do anything to preserve himself including lowering himself to inferior beings going against his own code, while Envy only covers up his self-hatred and jealousy but would rather end himself before accepting to sully himself with the compassion of someone he looks down upon. Pride makes one value self-preservation, while envy is self-destructive by nature, perhaps. It is interesting that both feel prideful, yet Pride doesn’t reflect the fact that as part of a whole it also felt shame and low self-esteem, otherized, and Envy doesn’t reflect that Dwarf actually feels pride over traits they possess, as well. The truth is that these things coexisted in the one being that was Dwarf. Fragmented as they are, they only tell an uncomplete and incoherent story, like a puzzle. It’s ironic that maybe together, all these sins balance each other out to become healthier, less dysfunctional. Like a family, they can offer counterbalance to a trait when it becomes too central to the individual, offer support through their grounding presence. Someone slothful may feel unmotivated without greed to give them goals, pride without envy will make you stop striving to better yourself and envy without pride will give you self-loathing.
An analysis of Dwarf isn’t complicated to do: it was a being brought about by scholars and complex alchemy, enslaved, and it wished to get the power to free itself and become an individual equal/superior to everyone else. Unable to become physically and fundamentally human, he attempted to become a proxy, close enough to it; making a family, gaining a human form, etc. It ultimately wished to pursue superiority through alchemical power and knowledge when he found the result lacking, when it still didn’t feel human, couldn’t connect with others, still felt fundamentally different, like his place in the universe was somewhere else, like striving for that higher calling would solve it. Blinded by lust to find belonging, wether it be in a place or in a role, it pushed itself to extremes of alchemy in the hope it will all make sense once he gets there. Ultimately futile, as he will end up feeling betrayed and abandoned by Truth itself, not able to rise up to its own expectations once more: because there’s no magic able to make one feel whole. He seeked to sculpt himself into a perfect being, one that could be anything and do anything, one that couldn’t be reproached, if not by humans, then the world itself would confirm and showcase his objective superiority for all to see.
Tumblr media
Much like with Shou Tucker, this pursuit for knowledge and power is all for external factors, there is no inner fuel for it besides pride, shame, desperate want that was displaced onto alchemy instead of the self-introspection that alchemy promotes and necessitates. Dwarf ended up missing what was right under his nose, and subsequently failed the test of Truth and lost everything. What he was working towards ultimately meant nothing, not to anyone and not even to himself.
Edward was able to face Truth right because he took the time to understand, learned to not abuse it, reflected on what it all meant, on the place of things in the universe. That is terrifying for Dwarf, who is terrified he may simply have no place in it, but it is nonetheless essential. The other homunculi are proof enough: Greed had friends, was accepted in the friend group of our heroes as a trustworthy and dependable person, Ling would have preferred him to stay with him forever instead of leaving. Selim gets a second chance at life with someone who has loved him with all her heart… Which is the most confusing part of FMA I have no idea how he didn’t die ngl but I’m glad for the precious lil guy~ Even Lust and Gluttony found companionship and care in being together.
Dwarf has always had a place. He simply refused to philosophizes, and alchemists are ultimately philosophers. Not thinking power through, not analyzing it, is what leads to corrupt military states. Dwarf wanted to be recognized and accepted by god and the world itself, by showing himself worthy of it and demanding it, but he was the one who rejected the nature of the world first:
One is all, all is one.
He is the very embodiment of refusing that. Dwarf always had a place in the world, artificial anomaly as he was. Perhaps Dwarf wasn’t meant to be part of this all or this one initially, not created by the world, but. Dwarf seeked to become both all and none at once. He was born artificial, but never cared to learn the rules of nature and accept the limits of the world, seeking to destroy and warp them; he was the one that desired to make himself even more distinct from the world and label himself as a perfect, artificial being. Rejecting individuality to become some empty looking glass was the mistake Edward Elric didn’t make, growing to find the value in every type of life and finding the strength to keep going through every horror of the world. Dwarf’s folly was thinking that he was separate from the rest of existence.
The philosophical dimension to the value of gold or philosopher’s stones are the important part of alchemy, power isn’t what you achieve enlightenment through. May your pursuit of knowledge be wise and your resolve aim true.
–+–+–+–+–+–+–
I recommend this analysis by another tumblr user as complementary reading!! It goes over way more than I did and encompasses more of fma than this post, I just wanted to focus on a fraction of the themes and narrative that I found summed up the story’s key points well… Idk idk I’m a humble Dwarf enjoyer I don’t want to come across as pretentious 🙇 I can only hope this was a nice read. If you don’t remember the ending of the manga/brotherhood well I imagine this being very confusing, I should do something about that
#fullmetal alchemist#fmab#i might spice this post with screenshots and pics one day#dwarf in the flask#father fma#edward elric#Analysis#Homunculi fma#Envy fma#Pride fma#gluttony fma#greed fma#The lesson of Pride & Envy: If you only have Pride you’ll only remember that you love yourself#But you need Envy too to remind you that you… Hate others and yourself…?#Jkjk envy in a way represents humility when in a not so extreme condensed form but I found that funny#Spoilers#fma spoilers#It isn’t to say that Dwarf’s fragmenting is all bad though like we see with Greed.#As much as traits may balance each other out and as much as the homunculi clashed together sometimes in ways that impeded their progress#we saw how unhealthy of an individual dwarf in the flask already was before splitting itself.#With Greed we see that a tiny part of this all that’s itself part of a bigger all aka the world#can still be part of it and do the bettering and thinking needed to become someone with values#character analysis#Me watching Dwarf absorb god and tearing up bc it’s so tragic that he was fueled by a desperate want to belong and prove himself and#Bitterness and a sense of superiority#Tfw u a lil science experiment made by scholars who thinks that it is through research and pursuit of scientific and academic knowledge onl#That u can achieve anything completely missing the emotional or ethical dimension… Or like u know. Just like. Wondering if it’ll make u#Actually happy#What if trying to bring himself closer to smth like a human was just bc all the alchemical research and results are made by humans so he#Thinks it’ll up his chance bc the method was already tailored and scientific method and whatnot…

Is it possible to create a Darcy? An Amphibia meta
Tumblr media
After the last events ( which is tumblr literally deciding to obliterate my toh analysis for no apparent reason) I hope this gets posted without any mess.
Well, we can begin now that I've written my blessings...
Disclaimer: I am not a neurology expert on anything like that, just someone who is very curious and makes research about brain. I will try to give sources of the informations I use in this theory post, and I would love it if anyone points out the missing or wrong parts of the information I give.
While watching the show, Amphibian technology always made me question the real life equivalents of these technologies. And, probably for many others too, the standing out one was the Core itself (I mean duh). In this post, we will look into the technology and biology that is the Core, and if it's actually possible to create one, and the possession, of course.
So, our main question is; is it possible to create a Darcy? To answer that, we need to answer these questions;
What exactly is "The Core"?
Can a machine control a human body?
Well, of course they create many other questions within them too, so let's start with the first one.
What Exactly Is "The Core"?
I think we all can agree that the Core itself is, to some extent, just a super advanced AI. I mean, before possessing Marcy, it has no organic compound forming it. A jungle of screens and cables and that's just it.
Tumblr media
What makes it interesting is, however, the memories it contains. Aldrich claims that "it is the collection of Amphibia's greatest minds", which himself will also be included. Now, is it possible? Can we simply download our memories to a software system? Well, no. On the other hand, however, the answer should be: not yet. Because memories are said to be the connections between our brain cells (neurons) and solving them is what many scientists are currently working for. In fact, your thoughts are actually very much reachable with the most advanced technologies we have today.
The problem is, they are nowhere near the level of the Amphibian technology with very low resolution. Scientists can connect electrodes to your brain and record which parts of your brain are working more than others while thinking a specific thing, but just not very specific. As an example, you may be thinking about eating a hamburger and the scientists will know that you are thinking about food, and not some maths problem, because they see that the parts of your brain that are responsible for perceiving foods works more than others at that moment. Even if you are just thinking about food and not actually eating it.
Long story short, human technology still has a LONG way to go before actually resolving thoughts in 4K quality, let alone memories which have already happened AND recording them to an outside source. Also, I do not have that much scientific evidence to support this, but I assume memories must require A LOT OF storage unit. Because they need to include sensory information of that specific memory, the person's thought process etc., for the whole life of every person. Assuming Leviathans did just that, they must need a very strong CPU.
Now, let's say that we've managed to record their memories. We can say that this would be similar to saving a video to your USB. What makes the Core more special is, the ability to process these memories and experiences. Them drawing correlations between Anne and Sasha's invasion and Marcy's memory of watching the show is a mere example of that. And whose feature is that? Artifical Intelligence. IBM's definition of AI is given as below.
"artificial intelligence is a field, which combines computer science and robust datasets, to enable problem-solving. It also encompasses sub-fields of machine learning and deep learning, which are frequently mentioned in conjunction with artificial intelligence. These disciplines are comprised of AI algorithms which seek to create expert systems which make predictions or classifications based on input data."
The definition clearly states that AIs make their decisions by given data. And in the Core's case, the data becomes the memories of Amhibia's Kings, Queens and top-scholars. Their experiences and life perspectives. Most of the AIs make their decisions based on what knowledge you feed them with, sometimes resulting with "racist" AIs. (Considerig Amphibia's caste system, the Core can also be called racist but that's a whole different story)
To answer our first question, the Core itself is an extremely advanced AI which was fed by the views of Amphibia's extremely colonialist upper-class. Therefore, becoming and reflecting their very "Core", quite literally.
Now we're coming to the most interesting part....
Can a machine control a human body?
Tumblr media
Before giving scientific evidence, I want to state that a machine or AI controling a human body is becoming more and more prevalent in media actually. From books to very well known movies. In Matrix, we see the character Bane becoming a vessel for Agent Smith, a literal AI virus. The process also has some similarities with both of them acquiring a cable to the spinal cord etc. But since science and general worldbuilding of Matrix is WAY different than that of Amphibia's, I don't get into specifics here.
Okay let's get back into the Core. As you might have noticed, the amount of cables Darcy has is getting greatly reduced throughout the show.
From this
Tumblr media
To this
Tumblr media
Another thing I noticed which may or may not be a change of design, but there is a little extension on the cable at this picture. At the later episodes, it is removed.
Tumblr media
As you can see, the cable is continiuous now. Did that part had a purpose? Maybe as a filter for Marcy's memories or quirks? If it's the later one, it's obviously not working very well. What's interesting is tho, the apparatus dissappears within that episode. I don'y they'd change animation style mid-episode...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The extension disappears with the optimization process. Wanna know what else also disappeared with it? Marcy's "quirks" that are inherited by the Core. The cravings, trippings and everything else. If it weren't Darcy would've tripped and fallen probably a thousand times during their fight with Sasha and Grime. So that makes us question: what exactly did the optimization do?
For the rest of the theory, we are going to assume that the AI level of the Core is so advanced that it works similar to a human brain. And for those who don't know, human brains process data like a giant sponge. In whatever form you give it the data, the brain finds a way to make it "meaningful", especially in children. Ever wondered why infants talk a lot and touch themselves and around them? It is because their brains are trying to find the meanings and patterns of the sensory input. An example to that would be locating where your ears are and where the voice is coming from. The brain sends a random signal out there (gibberish voices) a feedback comes in the form of electrical impulses, and the brain finds a pattern eventually by repeating this so many times.
Deep learning method for an AI is also quite similar to this. AI does something, gets a feedback and fixes itself over time depending on those feedbacks. How does this connect to Darcy? Well, that cable from the head has to be going to somewhere. The Core and it's inhabitants never had a body for at least a thousand years, assuming the newest one that joined was Aldrich. So they had to learn pretty much everything from the beginning, in a body no newt has ever been in: a human body.
Even though they had insisted on possessing her for being smart, why wouldn't they just choose a newt, someone they'd be familiar with and would be comfortable as a body? Probably because to them, being smart meant processing more information faster, like having a faster computer. But they were also cautious, since they'd also installed a filter before processing the feedback taken from the body. As a result, they got the sensory info, processed it during sleeping (which is also one of the functions of sleep in human body) therefore "calibrated" the body. But in fact, the AI itself also evolved to actually process the sensory info.
Tumblr media
Another little detail that I noticed is from a scene after Sasha cut the cord in All In. Darcy checking the body to find any damage is actually very confusing. I don't think any human (even most of the other animals) would need to touch or see to the wound to see if they've been violently stabbed by a long sword. After thinking for a while, I've formed a theory for that. We are not 100% sure what the inside of the body costume is made of, but we can safely make an assumption by looking to this picture.
Tumblr media
This is a shot that shows the inside of the helmet. And it is full of electrodes that transports the signals from the brain to an outside source. So, we have no reason to reject the idea that the clothing covering the body is also filled with electrodes. Plus, when Marcy was in the rejuvenation tank, they needed to check her vitals to ensure her survival which doubles the possibility.
Now let's get back into the topic. If the costume/armor/WHATEVER is receiving signals from the body, then the outer part of it would be pretty plain, like the shell of a turtle. Turtles do have nerve cells on the shells, but way less than other parts of their body. Since she didn't have any signals from the outside layer, and no sign of damage from the inner electrodes, they checked the outer part with hands, whose signals were very well received by the Core.
I think this also explains how she was able to all those acrobatic moves when fighting with Sasha and Grime. The Core wasn't actually inside the body, but sending signals to the body. Same as human brains not having any nerves to feel pain, the Core itself wasn't actually receiving any pain signals like a normal human body does.
To sum it all up, an AI, computer programme or the collective memories of dead Amphibian upper class possesing a human body, is VERY possible. With very advanced technology, definitely. As my personal opinion, I believe we will actually see examples of it. When exactly, I don't know. Lastly, the helmet and pretty much all of the equipment is pretty Marcy-sized, so I wonder how long they've been designing those...

I’m in the same boat as you, was mostly out the door and this was the last push for me to be fully out.
So! Changing subjects, thoughts on gorgug?
honestly gorgug never really clicked with me in comparison to the other bad kids, or other zac pcs. I liked him just fine, of course I'm not immune to the it's gorgug keep going of it all, but gentle giant isn't a trope I'm predisposed to go crazy over. This season he's been killing me though, both the fact that zac gets to work full time as the party's clue solver seemingly thanks to gorgug's mechanical intelligence boost, and the additional bite/anger that seeps through a bit more often makes him that much more fun to watch. sue me! I like when characters are mean and smart.
I was never a gorgug and zelda hater, but I think them breaking up also trimmed some weight off gorgug's whole deal to make way for wayyy more interesting artificing stuff. Feels like a much more natural landing zone for gorgug than both the adoption and bad bf stuff of the previous seasons.

Okay you guys want more so I’m giving you more of my OCs!!!!! (under the cut lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun Facts!!!!!
-Sea Salt has a sailboat, of course!
-She also yearns to be part of a huge ship crew one day, hence why she loves to hang out on Caviar’s ship hoping that sooner or later he’ll ask her to be part of the Salty Shark crew (she is quite the dreamer)
-That little cloth on Sea Salt’s leg? Yeah that’s covering a spot she just so happens to keep injuring at sea out of possible bad luck
-One of the reasons Sea Salt loves to venture so much is that she wants to piece together what happened to her grandma, who was a sailor that just disappeared out at sea and never came back
-Sea Salt has a slight addiction to eating EXP jellies
-Blue 1, if it isn’t obvious, is a robot cookie. (She was based off of an artifical food dye, which is where the “artificial intelligence“ idea for her came from.)
-Blue 1 wasn’t originally supposed to have her attack mode and was just meant to be a helper, however one of the cookies working on her thought it’d be cool if they did so
-Upon creating Blue 1’s attack mode, a sort of chemical was inserted into the syringe in her blade arm, which at the time was thought to only make a cookie fall unconscious upon being injected, but they never really tested it and it turned out to be sorta toxic soooo—

Been reading Ada Lovelace's wiki page and I think she actually perfectly explained what's wrong with AI art/writing all the way back in the 1840s?
Apparently, when writing about the prospect of artifical intelligence, she said, "The Analytical Engine has no pretensions whatever to originate anything. It can do whatever we know how to order it to perform. It can follow analysis; but it has no power of anticipating any analytical relations or truths."
And like obviously times have changed and I'm not a computer scientist so I could be misinterpreting this, but that sounds a lot like the issue with AI art/writing? It cannot originate anything. It cannot make new things. All it can do is what we tell it to do with what we give it.
My fiancé, who did study programming and computer science said he he agrees with her, but ALSO said something interesting about AI "art" when I mentioned this to him that kinda blew my third eye wide open and I'm absolutely going to use it as a way to explain exactly what AI programs are actually doing when they "make" art.
I'm paraphrasing, but he more or less said "Imagine if all of human art was just stick figures. If we made an AI program and fed it all that art, all it would EVER be able to make is stick figures. That's it. Meanwhile, humans have had massive leaps in art over the entire course of history in thousands of directions. You can see us progress from cave paintings to all of the different types of art we have now. An AI would NEVER be able to make the jump from stick figures to anything else. It cannot have original thoughts the way humans can. It cannot make new things. Humans can start with stick figures and move on to new types of art all on our own. All an AI can do is reproduce what we've already given it."
Anyway I'm tired and rambling and again not a computer scientist, but like...goddamn? That's such a brilliant way to phrase it?? Because you really can see how, over the course of thousands of years humans have Made New Things and it's so easy to then contrast that with AI, which literally is completely incapable of truly creating anything original. Humans change and grow and make new things. AI is a card shuffling machine with extra steps.
That's why a human taking inspiration from something and making a new piece of art is different from training an AI on art, and by extension, why the REAL problem comes when what the AI is trained on, and thus reproducing, is just shuffled versions of what someone else made, used without their permission.
Humans are making something new. AIs are very much not.
(Also also other computer people feel free to chime in, my fiancé is only one person and I'm actually interested in hearing more perspectives on this.)

An enigmatic NPC from our ongoing Pathfinder campaign- a powerful ally, or a soon-to-be enemy? Little bit of a bio beneath the cut-off, nothing too crazy 😘
Aurora Thomasin Ouris II (aka Azmodai, the Guildmaster, Tamzyn) has a past shrouded in mystery. Raised in the Thaerian Valley, in the Kingdom of Asteria, her earliest years are an enigma even to her. Her mother, a powerful mage by the name of Seltzin Ouris, claimed that she was the product of a fleeting union between Seltzin and a gifted swordswoman, though the swordswoman had left on her own travels long before her birth. The birth, by Seltzin's recounting, had been catastrophic, and for many years the young Aurora had dwelt on the cusp between life and death. It was only through her mother's incredible medical genius that Aurora had been snatched from the jaws of oblivion. Though dubious of her mothers stories- increasingly so with age- Aurora could do little but take her at her word. It would be her elder brother, Graham (yes, that guy), that took care of Aurora during her formative years, for their mother was cold, distant, and preoccupied with her great works. Though their time together was but short, Graham left a lasting impression on the young Aurora as a man of great kindness and intelligence. Even after his supposed death during the Second Siege of Grimsreach (Seltzin seemed unfazed, as if she had known all along that her son had survived), and the following decade and a half of separation, Aurora never forgot her brother.
Time passed, and soon enough Aurora was inducted into her mother's work. It was... well, my players are reading this no doubt (hello 🐝), so I'll leave the rest of this bit to your imagination. In short, Aurora became a key member in a secret society known as the Draufsangr League, taking up the name "Azmodai". Over the course of a handful of years, and a series of increasingly terrible and unlikely circumstances, Azmodai and the rest of the League came to lead an army of demons and undead in a short-lived war in a Nightmare Realm, besieging the last free village beneath a blood red moon.
Yes, I know, it's exactly as bizarre as that sounds, and then some..
Well, not long after this, her mother ascends to godhood in a nasty ritual involving murdering demigod children, cutting open her stomach and putting a pocket dimension inside, slathering herself in god blood oil and then igniting said oil with a super evil flame (all whilst her son watches in horror (yes, i know, classic girl stuff)). However, to come into her her full godhood at that particular time would, for reasons to complex to get into right now, be a Bad Move. So, in a stroke of utter malignant brilliance, Seltzin Ouris embeds her embryonic godly form into the head of her youngest daughter, to gestate as a flower in her head until the time is right.
Then the moon falls, some corrupted demigods fuse into one and then get stillborn when their artifical soul womb (the blood red moon) is popped by a vampire being killed by a group of traumatised queers (it's a long, cursed story), and Graham (Azmodai's brother, remember?) and his two work buddies grab some stillborn demigod souls and ascend to godhood too, but are sealed away by a three-headed tree goddess formed from three triplet sisters.
Yep.
This causes time travel, and Azmodai and the League are zapped back in time and through space to the First World, to kick it for like 25 years or something and pave the way for the coming of the end times.
Anyway a long story short Azmodai falls in love with another member of the League (half-dragon lady who is the last queen of Asteria, which was obliterated when the moon erupted from beneath the earth, you get it by now). Together they formed a Guild for adventurers, then the dragon lady died.
Now she's lost in a dream-like underground, beyond the reach of her brother (mirror-Graham, formed after he dimensionally "surfed" on a crumbling demiplane, again, long story) or her daughter (well, technically a third of a magic baby that she got some dwarves to make out of platinum and mithril, and then a wizard put life into. same difference).
That's Aurora!
Also her mother is actually also called Aurora and was a medical student from 1820s Scotland who was created by two lesbian doctors from alien god goop. :)))
Just a normal TTRPG setting :^)

Okay, now that a few days have past and I've had time to emotionally process, I figure I'd debrief a bit on going to Intercon, a LARP convention, last weekend. Overall, I had a blast and even have a few pics.
I played in 4 games over the course of the weekend:
Wicked Hearts-which takes place in Romanov era Russia right before the revolution where I played a folk hero/ royal guard who was in love with one of the princesses but also trying to bring about the revolution. I wasn't feeling my best during this game, due to asthma but I had a blast, even if I didn't start the revolution. Instead, the Princess I was involved with made a political marriage to the Prince of the Fairies, and she, the prince, myself, and the prince's lover all went off the live together in one big happy, polycule 😂😂. That ended up being our solution to keep her from having to marry someone else. lol
Star Senate: Revenge of the Budget which is an intergalactic senate game where you are trying to pass legislation and make deals while the empire's military arm has literal guns aimed at your head to force you to pass a budget. I played the 2,000 year old Speaker of the Senate who was just done with the bullshit and was trying to cause instability in the government using the bills I pass. This game is a comedy and was literal comedy gold. I failed spectacularly at solo causing a civil war, BUT I did successfully get my "Historic Preservation Act" passed to create a museum out of an old, decommissioned Battlestar passed. FRIENDS, I DIDNT CREATE THIS BILL. this was one of the bills that WAS IN MY STARTER packet. So me, a giant BSG fan, was so tickled pink and made it my like solo goal. lol 😂 I really wish I hadn't cut off the bill in my pic, but it was a late night game so I didn't notice till the next day.
Unrest and Unaccountability - which was a Regency era horror larp where I was attending the Queen's Ball and trying to find a marriage match, all the while dealing with shenanigans like slaying Napoleons Undead Army and Killing a creepy Mirror facsimile of myself. Succeeded in literally all my goals of this one, and it was a ton of fun.
Debugged.me-which was a game about Artifical Intelligences in basically a mental health facility to cure their AI disorders. I played a character based off of Dolores from Westworld who had snapped after decades of abuse and murdered her abuser. This game honestly was a giant dud. It had a lot of potential, but the game creator hadn't finished the game and hadn't refined it so it was just a mess. We didn't start until over an hour past start time, so half of the players left. It's a shame, was really looking forward to playing a dark, ai game.
Overall the weekend was fun. If you ever get a chance to go, I 100% say do it. Now check out some of these pics!

Seeing the smile on the boy’s face fall straight through the floor, Crystal quickly raised her hand before Tristan could return to his seat.
Being the new kid, she was the only one who hadn’t heard this presentation that everyone else was so tired of.
Teacher: Yes, Crystal? Crystal: Since I’m the ‘new kid,’ would it really be too much to ask to hear Tristan’s show and tell presentation today? Children: Don’t get him started, or else he’ll never shut up again! Teacher: I’m very sorry, Crystal, but we really don’t have enough time today, and everyone else has heard it many times already. Why not ask him yourself after school? Crystal: Ugh... okay.
Tumblr media
Crystal, whispering: Meet me outside after school, alright? Tristan: Uh... okay.
To her, the boy seemed as boring as everyone else in this school - at least at first - but to say she wasn’t at least a little interested in the homemade toy would be a lie.
Of course, she was skeptical of how ‘advanced’ it really was, or if it could do anything at all. She knew what real artifical intelligence looked like. But if nothing else, she wanted to see what it could do for herself. To see if it really could be talked to, and actually reply.

Some longterm project I am working on
So one thing I wanna document with my tumblr is this bus story I am developing. I want it to be something special for me. Something I can just rewatch again or look at when I have time. I just have absolutely no clue how it will turn out while I work on it the next years or so. Main themes of this story will be conflicts between individuals (in this case, literally between bus characters) and how it can be solved, seeing joys in life and going on an adventure and just something that is fun for the whole family. I atleast thing there is a great lack of something inbetween for babies and adults. I mainly see bus animated content for "babies" and the other spectrum is 18+ stuff for adults mainly those who like machines. (This topic is way broader than I am writing in here, sorry for this generalised summary!). Don't get me wrong, I respect both sides, I just wish there would be more. It just feels like this niche lacks something, not in the sense of cars movie or magic school bus. But something that everyone can enjoy especially teenagers, young adults who go through difficult phases in their life and maybe can watch something that is fun and informative. Also to maybe get people interested in busses/public transport. I just notice that bus companies don't know or don't have the capeabilities to make something fresh that actually will make more people be interested in this. Or maybe I am not seeing the whole picture, I know in certain countries/parts of the world public transport is way more common and supported than other countries.
But when it comes to art related things? I don't see much, only the same stuff over and over again. Even tho I find all the artists I see to be very talented and I am happy that they do what they love. Now before I dwell so much on this, I shall write a bit more about my project; I am documenting everything on my toyhouse, usually only my friends that I trust have access to the character pages, because I don't feel comfortable for strangers to read them. And here is the current list of characters I added in there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing is there are some more characters missing in there and I have to figure out how much I can flesh them all out. (Excuse me for calling the folder Bussy lore, I just find it funny)
And here is an example of a character page
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Might not be the most prettiest out there but I can pretty much put everything I need onto it and just check it again whenever.
I love keeping everything visually seperated, toyhouse is a good website for that. Previously I wanted to have two seperate "stories" take place, "Main Story" and "Offworld Story", but after a while I figured that I found the Offworld concept much more interesting than Main, so I figured I will merge them together. And with that I will call the Story "Offworld", this referring to what happened to the busses:
Vehicles who were test subjects on a "planentary lab" to test Artifical intelligence on, basically trying to see if those vehicles are self aware or not. And if they can develope a "social life" between each other. To check if they can feel complex emotions like humans can and what not. All that jazz, imagine that ex machina movie but with a different approach? I might try and watch a bunch more movies about AI/Machines to further grasp what how other authors deal with this topic. Tho with school I often don't have much time on my hands. This here would be how this Offworld would look like:
Tumblr media
The planet in the foreground is called Castor, at the back you see the "planetary lab". Both are located in the Andromeda Galaxy in the Wallace's System. Well that system doesn't exist irl but I just made my own. You can see that the lab is kinda broken, it basically got damaged when the enemies of the owner of this lab attacked them. Now of course it might be strange to say that they tried to steal an entire planet but I'll figure it out eventually.
This planetary lab originated from Zeon's System, both of theses systems are far away from each other. It's mainly a problem that the owners of said lab are unable to locate it, thus the busses being "stranded" in a dangerous enviroment and having to settle on this new place. Plock, one of the bus characters, takes the lead to build a new home on Castor and gather enough materials to fix the lab and find their home again. It will take quite a while before they establish contact again, pretty much 30 years of waiting. While the busses wait they face many conflicts. This is where I could try to incooperate a few themes into the story, how they interact with other civilisations, with each other, with their world and with the lab. I would focus on a few busses especially, Milos who is the son of Plock and who is supposed to take over once his father is no longer. Putting him under great pressure and strictly raising his son so he turns out "perfect".
Other busses I would mainly showcase are Edwin, Alyx, Helene, Solange, Ellen & Marcin and Alondra.
Some other busses would be more like side characters, them being Romy & Mallory, Steffan, Althea, Ikarues and so on Some of the busses on my toyhouse will not appear in Offworld, mainly duo to unforseen circumstances that happened in "Main Story". One Character I'd like to empathise is Helene (I shortly talked about her in another post), she isn't actually a bus, or well wasn't always a bus. She is actually the Central AI of the planetary lab and would basically guard it from any hostile entities entering it. Her original form was a mechanical centipede that stands over 30m tall. It used to have a somewhat deer shaped head
Tumblr media
I know this sketch is a bit rough, I drew this waaaay back in 2018? And the design stuck with me so I made it be a part of her original form, tho her ref is not in the works yet. I am currently working on a huuuuge ref sheet for Milos. At one point she took notice of the "Bus/Sentient AI Project" and wanted to partake in it, so she implanted a part of her conciousness into a bus. And pretty much lived alongside them for years. She developed her first "crush" on a bus named Ikarues and slowly began feeling more alive. Mainly because she was able to live among sentient beings who were similar to her, usually she was surrounded by humanoids and guarded this planet on her own for over a millenia. At one point she would change her centipede form to have a "bus head" removing her old deer head.
Tumblr media
I am actually interested in properly developing her centipede body some more the coming weeks, I drew this piece quite a while ago to some specific part of the story that might be scrapped, I have to see.
She will definetely be one of the important characters in Offworld, I think I can do many interesting things with her, regarding her life and the amount of years she lived in solitude. How it feels to be alone for such a deeply developed AI.
I am just excited to see what I can do with this entire project, many fun things to add and explore, some topics are somewhat close to me. Especially when it comes to family and friends, and problems that arise and how to deal with them, and pretty much finding a meaning in life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With all that being said, I will go further into some themes/characters in the coming weeks when my busy schedule allows it. Happy reading! Hope to see you soon!
