A Timeline of the whole messy Kaho + Maehara + Seo situation
Tumblr media
Just trying to make sense of what was shown and hinted in the manga.
Because Class E students typically don’t graduate by the end of the school year, they are officially expelled from Kunugigaoka by the 3rd Trimester (Jan-Mar), which is all about high school exams preparations. The Class E building will then instead be occupied by the future Class E students for accommodation purposes.
The sorting for future Class E students among the 2nd years will likely occur a little after the announcements of their final exam results, which was in December.
Which means that Kaho and Maehara likely dated before December 2013.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maehara basically ghosted Kaho ever since dropping to Class E.
Maybe until somewhere in May 2014.
And within those 5 months of ghosting, he probably even dated a bunch of girls behind her back. It explains why Nagisa described Maehara as someone who is so popular that the girl he’s seen with constantly changes.
Tumblr media
He cheated on her 4 times the whole time they’ve been apart.
And it also explains why nobody was under the impression that he and Kaho have been dating for a long time, even though Maehara is notorious for his extensive dating history.
Hell, I’m sure that people barely even knew that they dated, or that they had already forgotten that they were dating by the time the new school year began.
Enter Seo, the new guy in the situation.
Tumblr media
Who is also unaware of Maehara’s relationship with Kaho for some strange reason despite having a whole wide network of people to tell him what’s going on.
Horrible temper, verbally abusive, incredibly rude, and his appearance couldn’t even make it up for his horrible personality - not a single box was checked in Kaho’s criteria for the kind of guys she’s famously into (Ikemen).
So, no fucking way would she date him.
But, here’s the catch: Seo is a virtuoso - his incredibly high social standing in Kunigigaoka’s student hierarchy despite his horrible personality canonically makes everyone uncomfortable.
And Kaho is just another student from the most average class in their year.
But she’s incredibly pretty.
It could be to make himself look good in front of others for having a beautiful girlfriend or whatever. Regardless of what Seo’s reasons are for dating her, the extreme power imbalance between the two of them gives Kaho no choice but to date him at his demand.
This could have happened in April 2014, when the new school year solidifies Seo’s standing as among the virtuosos.
Fast forward.
It was in June 2014 when some of the current Class E students spotted Kaho and Maehara walking together under the rain.
That makes it more than 6-7 months of dating.
And yet, for some strange reason, none of the present Class E students where under the impression that they were dating for a long time. In fact, Kaho was made seem to be a new girlfriend of Maehara’s instead.
Which could mean that Maehara waltzed back into Kaho’s life fairly recently.
I’m just gonna assume it’s somewhere between late May to early June.
The 5th time he cheated on her, was when he scheduled that date with a girl from another school, when they are actively dating.
Tumblr media
Because there is no other way he could schedule a new date that quick right after Kaho officially broke up with him, when preparations still had to be made for Class E to execute their revenge plan.
And he looked guilty as fuck.
Kaho and Seo most likely broke up after fighting over who gets to use the bathroom in the convenience store.
As shown in the baseball arc, Kaho openly hates him to the bone.
Since then, she has been actively going after other boys she finds cool.
Then summer came.
According to Gakushuu, if Class A had won the bet against Class E, a truth that Maehara specifically isn’t allowed to lie about when asked was the fact that he had been cheating FIVE TIMES.
Tumblr media
(I used a raw scan I have saved in my gallery, because the two available English scanlations online translated that question in such a vague way you wouldn't have caught it - how many times you've "lied/been distracted" - when the first two characters here 浮気 translates to anything that literally means "cheating (in a relationship)").
Meaning, by the time summer came, not even Kaho knew about this.
Tumblr media
Note: There's a chance that the amount of times Maehara had cheated in a relationship isn't actually exclusive to just Kaho herself and it might just be in general.
But the way that the people around them were seemingly under the impression that Kaho is a more recent girlfriend of Maehara's, when they've been actually dating for half a year, just solidifies the theory that he had been seeing other girls behind her back all this time.
But whether that theory is correct or not, it doesn't change the solid fact that he still cheated on her at least once, which was when he already had that other date scheduled.
This arc... pisses me off. I know I've said that many times already. And I will still say it.
What initially seemed to be an arc about Maehara's early character development because he was the focus here... ended up blatantly showing how much of a hypocritical trashy guy he instead actually is.
Because how shameless are you to be going around cheating left and right without any regard for your current girlfriend's feelings, but the second you're on the receiving end of a cheating matter, you didn't even hesitate to expose her just so you wouldn't get the blame?
And for that alone, Kaho throwing him under the bus right after was honestly DESERVED.
I would have found this arc less pointless if the deleted Valentine's arc with Okano was instead the follow up, where Koro finally gave Maehara a piece of his mind about this whole non regard for a girl's feelings after realizing that the kid learned absolutely nothing from the situation with Kaho.
None of that whole bullshit about being completely transparent in Maehara's report card just to motivate him to do something. I just want Maehara to set things right with Okano on his own accord. No outside influences or whatsoever. Because that report card threat just made everything seem not genuine and it would really hurt to be Okano in that situation.
I don't mind the retaliation arc being left unchanged if it was instead used as a motivation to set things right in the future.

May I request a Karma x Fem!reader
Where Karma is meeting Y/n’s family…But she’s an Asano…
(I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR OTHER KARMA X READER)
Ah, thank you for requesting! I am so glad that you like my other AssClass story as well! Just a gentle reminder that I only write gendered readers when gender is essential to the plot since I want to promote inclusivity in my writings!
warnings: none!
Tumblr media
Inside the dining room, the air is still. The three warring parties all sit at the table, you between Gakushuu and Karma, with your father The Principal sitting opposite you.
You eat your casserole, oblivious to the dark looks the other three have been giving each other. Oblivious, or knowing full well and laughing at all of them. There is no in-between with you.
Tensions have been high since the beginning, and by now it is practically guaranteed that something will explode. Everyone present is simply waiting for the inevitable explosion to happen, waiting for that spark which will set everything ablaze in a rage of fiery destruction.
“Can someone pass the salt?” you call out.
“Sure, sweetheart,” says Karma.
“Alright, (Y/N),” says Gakushuu.
And the battle begins.
Karma reaches for the shaker, and so does Gakushuu, and as they do, their hands touch, at which they promptly look at each other and glare.
“…Akabane,” says Gakushuu, smiling politely, tugging the shaker towards himself, “you can let go. I will give (Y/N) the salt.”
“No, no, you don’t need to.” Karma’s own smile is as sharp as a knife, and he tugs the shaker towards himself again. “I’ll pass it, no problem.”
“No, let me Akabane. I can’t have you breaking it, after all.” Gakushuu tugs the shaker away from Karma again with a dark grin on his face.
“Who said I was going to break it?” Karma tugs the shaker back towards himself, where it belongs.
“You break everything.”
“Well, you’re wrong, because I’m going to take care of it with my life, whether you like it or not!”
“Well, I’m not going to make it easy for you! Akabane, you give it back!”
“No, I won’t–!”
“Stop.”
The sound of The Principal’s voice stops the two of them in their tracks, and they slowly look at him and the terrifying smile on his face. “I will take it, being the person best equipped to handle it.”
The two of them scowl but bow down to the apex predator in their midst and set down the shaker. The Principal takes it, and hands it to you with a smile. “Here you go.”
“Thanks, Dad," you say, and take the shaker with a slightly disgruntled expression, and you're just about to use it, when you pause, look at it, and frown.
"This is the goddamn pepper."

Mc, watching Karma and Gakushuu fight: can i get a waffle. can i please get a waffle.

Assclass is pretty good and has a poignant and emotionally charged ending, but honestly, I don't know what's worse, the blatant abuse apologism in regards of Nagisa's Mother and the school principal with their honestly bullshit """redemptions""", as those fucks happen to be some real pieces of works straight out of a Charles Dickens novel where they star as shitty utilitarian villains, or the class going "so after buying the school and founding our future studies and careers and done a bunch of donations to some of our friends like the no profit pre-k school for poor people, we decided to give back the rest of the assassination hit money to the government," the same fucking government who founded the experiment in the first place, and who has till then exploited them and is now victimizing them to the media circus in order to cover their sorry asses for keeping a middle school class 1 year with a tentacle monster, effectivelly ruining their public life and exposing their private one.
Like, what bullshit.

Hey if you can choose three 3e kids to be the protagonists of assclass, who would you choose? :D (does this count as tea ask idk lmao-)
Nao, you know how biased I am. 😂 There’s no one else I’d say besides my three faves: Sugino, Kanzaki, and Okano.
They’re a very balanced dynamic. Sugino and Okano are both comfortable with getting out of their comfort zone. Okano is direct and confrontational. Sugino is a moodmaker and connects to others easily. Kanzaki is a balance for both their strong personalities, but girl is a force of nature herself. She doesn’t take bullshit. She’s also the one to think things through and hold the other two back before they rush into stuff.
How I imagine their friendship to go:
- The girls still have beef like in canon. And it makes both of them very uncomfortable, and they avoid each other.
- SUGINO...bless this boy...is the one to connect both of them.
- He becomes friends with Okano first, getting to know the other athletes of the class, including Maehara and Kimura. While they’re all a good friend group, he gets especially close to Okano.
- They just vibe easily, and Okano appreciates how proactive he can be, but still so friendly and nice to everyone. Sugino likes teasing her about everything and he likes seeing her soft side since she’s a little prickly most of the time.
- They also very much connect on the experience of having been kicked out from a sport club they were crazy passionate about. Sugino recommends her to join a local team, since she still loves it. Nothing’s stopping her. “Screw those bastards at school” - Sugino. Her cheers up Okano, and yeah...very sweet friendship.
- But while he’s been befriending Okano...boy has also been getting closer to Kanzaki since they’re in the same friend group. His crush on her dissipates fast in this AU...he liked her at first because of how prim and perfect she seemed.
- But then he gets to know her and gains a platonic appreciation for the other parts of her, like her love for video games, rebellious attitude, etc. His crush leaves quickly, and they become friends. Kanzaki really likes how dorky he can be, and how he values her who she is, not what she likes look.
- How do they all join together?? Well, Sugino of course picks both of them to be his partners in a PE game. They’re both pretty talented so why the hell not?
- It’s incredibly awkward...Okano loses her temper and snaps at both of them a few times. Kanzaki goes off and does things on her own. Sugino suffers.
- But...at the very last moment, they somehow all accidentally coordinate together in this super badass moment, and they win whatever PE game the class was doing.
- And in the midst of cheering, Sugino grabs both of them in this bear hug, and Okano and Kanzaki smile at each other. Beginnings of change...
- They unconsciously make more of an effort to talk or interact more in class, especially since Sugino pulls them together a lot too. He just wants both his friends to get along 💜
- Eventually the more they do...the more they find out about each other. Kanzaki admits her 2nd year lie and everything. Okano talks about how much she’s struggled being accepted for her tomboyish attitude. They realize how much they have in common...both of them are judged for who they are.
- After realizing that, they both cry...and hug. Because damn, how much had they misjudged each other? How long were they beefing when really they could’ve connected?
- The dynamic strengthens, and the trio becomes a very tight friend group. Soon the girls don’t need Sugino around, they connect and hang out too 💜
- Boy is beyond happy to see them getting closer and becoming friends
General strengths as a trio:
So I think we can all agree that RGB trio is OP. But this trio...they’re very strong but in a reasonable, realistic way.
Okano: by far the strongest. She’s the top fighter of the class, with her immense speed, strength, and high skill in gymnastics. She specializes in offense. She’s also skilled in intelligence gathering, being able to scale tall trees, high walls, unstable ladders, etc. Her small stature also makes it easy to hide in places and collect information. Her night vision is the top in the class, and she’s especially needed for night missions.
Sugino: boy has a TON of physical strength and mobility, being a fairly fast runner. He has a lot of raw energy, and high stamina, being able to endure physically stressful scenarios more than most. His upper arm strength is one of the most defined in the class. He’s also very skilled in diplomatic situations, being able to persuade others. He’s a good infiltrator, putting his nice attitude and ability to blend in to good use.
Kanzaki: she doesn’t seem strong compared to the other two, with her delicate, slim stature and graceful attitude. Well...surprise surprise. She’s the most hardcore. Her proficiency in long-range is one of the best in 3-E, gained from all her shooting game experience. She’s an extremely skilled strategist, able to make plans on the spot. Combine that with the usual image she gives to the class...no one expects her to attack so viciously.
To sum it up: Strengths
Okano: close-range, offense, intelligence gathering
Sugino: close-range, defense, politics and negotiations
Kanzaki: long-range, both, strategy/planning
What a balanced, powerful, amazing trio.
This is getting too long but I put the basic facts lol. Will def make headcanons and more on this AU because now I’m in love with it UwU. Thanks Nao 😭

AAAAAAASSAssaaAAA you write about AssClass, OMG?? Can I get Nagisa and number 3 then? 💙💙💙 Congratulations on 1k followers!
# tags: scenario; friends/lovers; school!au; soft romance; also comedy; fluff too; sfw
includes: gender neutral reader ft. nagisa shiota {assclass}
author’s note: thank you, cutie!
Tumblr media
3. First kiss once again, but I’ll make it wet, long and really surprising.
You and Nagisa were just in your little house, doing the homework that Koro-Sensei had given you two. It was a poster on a selected topic concerning endangered species of animals, so you paid your whole attention to cutting out pictures and black letters, and the blue-haired boy in meanwhile glued and drew on paper to make your shared banner even more beautiful and expressive.
“... Hey, Nagisa-kun, do you want something to drink? We should take a break... We can also eat dinner; my mom left us some curry before.” You smiled at one point as you put the green scissors on the floor, and your classmate merely nodded, put the glue and tape aside. Then you both got up from the soft carpet and went to your kitchen. You immediately took out the sauce to heat it and also poured some fresh orange juice into glasses. You put the cups on the table next to the third-grader, at whom you smiled again, and then disappeared behind the refrigerator door to take out some crunchy vegetables as an appetizers to dinner.
“Y/N?” You leaned out from behind the fridge and raised an eyebrow slightly. You were going to ask if anything was wrong, but instead, you felt a pleasant warmth on your lips and an equally warm hand on your own left cheek.
You opened your eyes a little wider as the kiss deepened and the grip on your skin tightened. Nevertheless, after a short moment you closed your both eyelids with satisfaction, trying to match your movements with the fast pace Nagisa gave you.
Basically you were... honestly shocked. You never expected that your friend to give you your first kiss. And that the same kiss will be so long, wet, even aggressive, full of emotions and feelings that you also never expected from Shiota. Therefore, as soon as you moved away from each other, and the only thing left between you was hot blushes and a thread of saliva, you felt like a stupid teenager in love.
“What was that?”
“You seemed tense.” He admitted lowly, and you coughed softly.
“I don’t...”
“You seemed very tense, Y/N.”
“I... Yeah, m-maybe you’re right...”
“... You still look tense, actually.” He smiled slightly, and you just felt your cheeks warm one more time and pinch like salt on a extensive wound.
And when the young male asked you if you would go to the cinema with him on Saturday... you literally broke your neck from nodding your head in agreement.

Thanks for the tag, now onto the questions:
How many works do you have on AO3?
Sixty-two!
44 = BNHA
6 = Persona 5
5= Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2 = Danny Phantom (but one of those is a crossover with Justice League and John Constantine)
2 = Miraculous Ladybug (but one of those is a crossover with Batman)
3 = The Batman, Constantine and Justice League crossovers
1 = Assassination Classroom (a crossover with BNHA)
1 = Sk8 the Infinity
1 = Fire Emblem: Three Houses
What's your total AO3 word count?
876408 words!
What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
1) The old Bait and Switch (10,019 kudos)
2) #NewestWayne is trending folks (5663 kudos)
3) (The original) A fraudulent claim to immortality (4442 kudos)
4) Rooks and Bishops don't get to choose their moves (3941 kudos)
5) Blood Stains The Skin Red (3620 kudos)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I respond to most comments! Though most of the ones I reply to are ones where I can actively engage with the commentary, like if someone asks a question or suggests something I could edit.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Uh... give me like half an hour to scour for fics that AREN'T pure angst....
Okay so it's either 'Care to be my Ganimard?' Or 'Rival Soup' which are both crack slightly shippy Persona 5 fics about Akeshu's dynamic! Could also be 'You're telling Me A Shrimp Fried This Rice!?' Or 'Iida isn't the boss of you' which are my only crack BNHA fics but Fried Rice is a more happy emotions after sadness kind of ending rather than like fully happy and Iida isn't the boss is incomplete so-
Pretty much everything else is either currently unfinished, abandoned, being rewritten or you know... without what you would typically call a happy ending so these two are really my only options, you wouldn't think I don't like reading angst.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Now that's a loaded question.
We've got Izuku dies in this one where it does what it says on the tin which was a sleep deprived 'ha but what if' rewrite of Kamino fic, Nomu 2.0 which (as described by a commentor) has Of Mice and Men vibes. Disrupted Celebrations is another contender because Izuku goes through every stage of grief and then gets to go through survivors guilt AND imposter syndrome before ultimately not having a good time!
For P5 it's probably Where Justice Goes To Die which is a 2/2 fic with a twist and any 2/2 fic HAS to be angsty and bittersweet or it's just not a 2/2 fic you know?
It's hard though because a lot of what I write is angst...
Do you write crossovers?
Yep! All the time, some of my favourite fics I've written are crossovers but that's mainly bc they're my little passion projects? Like I write most of my fics bc my brain refuses to shut up but my crossover fics always end up with like 40 page gdocs before they're even written because they're my babies.
Also when I still wrote on wattpad my first like major serious fic was an OHSHC/AssClass fic so it's in my writing blood you know?
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
A couple of times
I don't tend to write ships as a main focus but my only ship fic has gotten a bit of hate, mainly by one commentor who didn't like the ship or the characterisation (even though I used both a Character X salt tag and claimed it would be slightly OCC-ish to start with) and who didn't seem to like reading tags properly. I couldn't actually write for that fic for a while because everytime I clicked on it to update I just... kept looking at those comments and feeling like rubbish but then some random reader just started arguing back for me and I kind of realised that people will always dislike things but you're writing for yourself and the added ppl who will read your work despite its flaws because they've also exhausted every other fic under the pairing tag!
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I'd like to be able to write smut, if only so that I could convince myself I'm not practically victorian in my inability to not be instantly red in the face with the concept of smut. However since its a running joke between myself and my friends that every fic I write is already smut I'd never live it down if I actually wrote any.
There was a brief escapade though into the world of writing smut, but I doubt anyone that follows me on tumblr ever actually read my stuff on A03 at the time the fic in question actually existed, and if you know which deleted fic I'm talking about no you don't.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Like 5 times on Wattpad? Can't remember which ones since I've blocked out most of my Wattpad content but I remember being really upset about it.
And an entire first chapter from my only ship fic on AO3! The account got reported pretty quickly since there's a limited number of fics for the ship so you can notice pretty quick if somethings a repost.
And tagging....

Gotham Queen: Hazama
So, a while ago, I saw this post where someone, either @assclass-dump or @bea2804 (I don’t remember which one was it, and I am not about to roam through the Hazama tag just to find that one post, so I’ll tag both just in case) point out how Hazama has a unique cape in Koro Q.
The moment I saw that cape, I instantly thought of one thing: Batman.
That lead to an idea of a Hero!Hazama AU where she was part of the bat-fam, and all because of that one cape.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to think of some Hazama content, and today, I had an idea for a drabble based on that one idea.
***
If she were to be completely honest, seeing the legendary bat-cave was....disappointing.
It was exactly as she'd imagined it: big cave full of fancy equipment, a giant computer, and oh, we shouldn't forget the shiny bat mobile.
Really, what do you expect from a billionaire vigilante?
"Answer the question."
Red orbs met the narrowed white slits of none other than the caped crusader himself. Hazama wondered if this was the notorious "bat glare" that was rumored to send shivers down one's spine. If that were the case, then it was another disappointment. 'He should see my mom when she's in one of her moods.'
Maybe it was just her. After all, nothing came close to the haunting eyes of her own mother as well as the soul-shattering screams that had become the title track of her miserable childhood. In fact, everything else paled in comparison to the devil woman that was her mother.
Hazama shrugged. "I tracked you down, that's it.”
The glare deepened, not that it had any effect on her. 'Maybe I should show him that picture of mom, tell him to take notes.'
"How exactly?" Batman questioned.
"I had help."
"Who?"
'An AI who roams the internet. Oh, and she's been living your big, bat-computer, so that's how I know who you and your sidekicks really are.'
Of course, she wasn't going to tell him that, mainly to get under his skin, but there was a reason as to why she was here in the first place.
"It doesn't matter right now." Hazama spoke, straightening in her seat and regarding the hero with a serious look. "I'm here to help with the tentacled monsters that're suddenly popping up."
The Dark Knight did not seem pleased by that answer. In fact, he was growing irritated with this mysterious girl who had casually strolled in that bat cave like it was no big deal.
"Kirara Hazama." Nightwing stood next to Batman, a tablet in hand. "Sixteen years old. Japanese nationale. Transfer student at Gotham Academy." He looked up to meet the girl's eyes. "Not to mention, you were one of the students involved in that whole assassination ordeal from last year."
Hazama clutched her elbow. A year had passed since Korosensei's passing, but it was still felt so recent, as though that fateful night was only hours ago. Her heart clenched when she remembered the the tiny, yellow orbs floating around them, the feeling of Korosensei literally slipping through her fingers was unforgettable.
And now, her past had followed her all the way to another country; Hazama didn’t know if this was life trying to be funny, but if it were truly the case, then it was an utter, humorless fail.
Really, all she wanted was to be as far away as possible from her controlling mother, and the opportunity comes in the form of a transfer exchange program. But then one day, she gets attacked by a creature bearing an eerie resemblance to her late teacher. It had everything: the tentacles, the yellow skin, and even that trademark grin of his.
“Koro...sensei?”
Except that grin had been laced with malice, and before the girl could comprehend what was happening, she found a tentacle wrapped around her neck and dangling her in the air to suffocate.
“Sensei!”
Were it not for her assassination training, Hazama would not have managed to escape. Those had arguably been the most horrifying seconds of her life, more horrifying than the Okinawa ordeal, where Hazama truly believed herself nearing death’s door.
“It’s not him.” She breathed, her hand seemingly glued to her neck. “Korosenei would never...”
And she was right, especially after more and more of these psuedo-senseis appeared on the streets of Gathom city, wrecking havoc in a manner akin to mindless zombies. Hazama didn’t know their origins, but she was deadset on unraveling this mystery. ‘And...’ She bit her bottom lip.
And maybe...by some strange, unforeseeable miracle, he would be be alive.
Batman scrutinized the girl, her melancholy was not lost on him. The sadness glinting in her eyes was uncomfortably familiar, one that told the story of loss. He may not of read it, but he felt like he already knew the tale.
But that wasn’t the issue at hand. He will eventually learn how this girl managed to track him down, not to mention, do a thorough background check.
But for now, his priorities lied in handling the “Octopus terror” that had plagued Gotham. If this Kirara Hazama person had a solution to this, he was willing to listen, though her words will be taken with a grain of salt. After all, Batman did not trust her, not when she had somehow figured out their secret identities.
“Kirara, was it?”
“Hazama.” She corrected. “I don’t like my first name all that much, so just call me, Hazama.”
The man was silent for a few moments before responding “Very well then, Hazama.” He crossed his arms. “What do you know about these creatures?”
“Not much.” She admitted. “But they’re undoubtedly linked to my teacher.”
“Your teacher?”
“The one we were tasked with killing.” She explained, ignoring the slight ache in her heart. “I know how his past; maybe that could help us get to the bottom of this.”
“Uh...us?” Nightwing spoke up. “Kid, we’re talking dangerous stuff here.”
Hazama raised an eyebrow. “And?”
“What do you mean “And”?” The acrobat questioned irritably.
“Just because you have information on these creatures doesn’t mean you can come with us.” Batman said, regarding her with his notorious bat-glare once more.
Hazama glared back at him. “You’re going to need me.” She said firmly.
 “I won’t.”
“You will.” She argued. “For a whole year, my class and I were trained on how to kill that octopus.”
The bat glare intensified. “We don’t kill.”
“Neither do we.” She walked closer to bat until the distance between them was a few centimetres. “At least not when it comes to human life.”
She then pulled out her anti-sensei knife for the two men to see. “This is what I used when I was attacked by one of the monsters. To humans, it’s just a rubber knife.”
She bent it slightly to prove her point. “But it’s a deadly weapon to those monsters.”
The two heroes still didn’t look convinced.
“We spent a whole year studying that octopus, jolting down all his weaknesses.” She met Batman’s gaze with a determined look. “Like it or not, you’re going to need us.”
Batman narrowed his eyes. “Us?”
“Correct!”
The two men whipped their heads to the bat computer, their eyes widening at the sight of a purple-haired girl displayed on screen.
Ritsu smiled brightly at the two and waved. “Hello!”
The Dark Knight was the first to recover from his shock. He turned back to Hazama, bat-glare ever present.
“I take it this is who helped you, correct?”
The Goth gave him a smug smile. “Yup; and she’ll be a big help in this mission.”
“You bet!” There was a glitch on screen and suddenly, Ritsu was dressed in a female version of Batman’s costume.
Batman was absolutely not amused by this.
“Alright.” He turned back to Hazama. “But once this is over, you both will be answering some question. Is that clear?”
The girl shrugged. “Sounds fair.” She smirked. “But if you’re gonna interrogate me again, you’re gonna need to do better than glaring. Here, take notes.”
She then held up picture and gave it to Batman. Curious, Nightwing leaned closer, then jerked back a second later.
“Yikes!” He yelled in fright. “What is that?!”
“My mom.” The girl replied casually. “I use this to scare off cat-callers. It’s the one thing my mom’s good for.”
Batman regarded her with a neutral look. “Not the best relationship, I suppose?”
“Nope.” She stretched her arms and walked away.
“Where do you think you’re going?” The Bat asked, narrowing his eyes.
“I’m starving.” She replied without even looking back. “Your butler said he’ll be making dinner, right? We can’t save Gotham on empty stomachs.”
Nightwing chuckled slightly. “First Tim, now this Hazama kid.” He turned to his former mentor with a playful smirk. “It’s pretty hilarious how a bunch of kids can easily deduce your secret identity, huh?”
Batman’s only response was a glare, followed by him holding up the photo to show Nightwing the devil herself.
***
I have no idea what I just wrote...
Question: Has anyone in this fandom ever thought of an AC/DC crossover where Hazama was apart of the bat-fam before?
Because I’m starting to like the idea, especially when I imagine her endlessly trolling the Dark Knight.
Hazama in the bat clan....so many possibilities...Maybe have her be the new batgirl...or take on a completely original mantle...

1. No specific fandom, do whatever you feel like 2. I just really like salt, you don't have to do all of them if you don't want to
It’s cool anon, I’m just pulling your leg. All in good fun!
I’ll stick to Assassination Classroom because it’d probably be too much salt if it was a fandom free-for-all.
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*
I see why people ship Karma with Asano – it’s the same reason people ship rival pairs, which is something I don’t get – but to me, they’re always going to be the rivals who find one another insufferable and don’t get along. It’s a personality clash as I think they’re fundamentally different people.
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
Karma/Nagisa and even then, their friendship is just kind of…”meh” to me now. In the past, I would’ve called it a BroTP of mine but I’m just indifferent now. Yeah, they’re close and there was that schism/survival game arc and all – I recognize that, but I’m just tired of seeing it everywhere even when it’s actually presented as strictly friendship.
I’d rather read about the Nagisa/Sugino BroTP to be honest. Or better yet, the Karma/Sugino BroTP. Hell, give me some Sugino/Kayano friendship.
3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
No, but that might also be because I generally only follow fandom-specific blogs. I also only follow one AC blog, so…
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?*
Yes, I have a NoTP – it’s Karma/Nagisa, and yes, it’s the goddamn most popular pairing in the fandom no matter which side of the world you’re on. Just my fucking luck, right?
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*
A pairing that I actually liked? No. A pairing I was indifferent to at first? Yes.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*
Hahaha. No.
If I hated it to begin with, then I probably had a solid reason as to why, and my opinion wouldn’t change so easily.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*
Not a one.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?*
Never. That might change after this. But I did get an annoyed anon one time when I said Karma and Nakamura aren’t actually close. They were actually pretty civil though so no offense taken. I never heard back from anon but I hope they read my response!
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Takaoka, probably… Yanagisawa was a scumbag but as a villain, Takaoka was more annoying as far as motives go. Like a goddamn cockroach, he just won’t go away (see: Karasuma’s 2-page manga in Grad Album Time). He also felt like a cartoon villain…but I can’t complain too much as the target demographic for AssClass definitely skewed younger.
There aren’t really any characters in the series whose guts I absolutely hated though.
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
Oh hell. The space arc right after the schism/survival game arc. Yeah, it’s AssClass we’re talking about, but I can only suspend my disbelief so much. Also, the lull in-between that arc and the final arc where nothing really happened was kind of a chore to read. It was the calm before the storm, but not much happened.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
The fandom doesn’t hate him as far as I know, but Sugino doesn’t get nearly as much love as anyone that isn’t a member of Utatan, Nakamura, or Asano. Is it because he’s just a regular nice guy and people think that’s boring? Because he’s super ordinary and apparently heterosexual? I guess that’s Tumblr’s least favourite combination.
I’m kidding. Don’t kill me.
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I don’t know if it’s unpopular but I enjoyed the baseball arc with Sugino. He’s just very likable to me. The themes of friendship and teamwork were recycled constantly, like in the sports festival (Isogai’s) arc and the culmination of Karma’s character development in the second semester finals, but it really began with Sugino’s baseball arc, and to me, that one really exemplified the themes best out of them all. They felt like a real rag-tag group of guys working toward a goal together.
13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
Karma is not a flirt and he’s not a slave to his hormones.
Stop writing him this way.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
Outside of the Ace Attorney fandom, I’ve never been in a fandom that hates on het pairings so much. I’ve seen all the common ones insulted and just trashed in general for the most inane reasons, and the Nagisa/Kayano ship has it the absolute worst, but I digress. The only het pairing people don’t seem to shit on is Chiba/Hayami – probably because they mostly only ever interact with one another. Go figure.
Also, this is a thing in every fandom, but seriously, you’ll have two characters interact, and even if it’s a completely regular conversation, people suddenly just start shipping it. It’s like people will ship any character with another character as long as they have even some kind of small connection. “These characters hate each other? Yeah, let’s ship ‘em.” “This character complimented this other character in an offhanded way but they have no other interactions? Yeah, I ship it.”
I’m not saying “stop having fun, guys,” but it’s a mentality I don’t follow.
15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?
Some of the villains felt a little too cartoon-y/flat for my tastes, like Takaoka, but as I said earlier, I think AssClass skewed younger despite such a focus on assassination and the entire nature of “killing” – most of the time, not literally, of course. They had basically zero redeeming qualities as opposed to antagonists like the Asanos, who were ultimately sympathetic, or even Korosensei’s apprentice.
16. If you could change anything in the manga/show, what would you change?
I’m terrible with these questions. My biggest complaint is that in a series with loads and loads of characters, most of them didn’t even get fleshed out so I really would’ve preferred there to be more alternate points of view – make it really feel like an ensemble cast because outside of maybe 2-3 characters, the rest of them only ever got one-and-done chapters. There are so many characters that I wish got more time in the spotlight, but alas.No offense to Nagisa and his fans – I like Nagisa, but especially in the second half of the story, it just felt like the scope narrowed way too much on him and/or Karma when Class E is actually supposed to be treated as a single entity where everyone feels equally important. Kind of like in the problem Karma solved for the final exam.
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
I wouldn’t have had Kayano die only to be brought back to life right after. I get that it was a parallel with Korosensei not being able to save Aguri, and now being able to save her sister Kayano. Still, the whole she’s dead lol psyche! angle went beyond cheating death; Kayano straight up died and got revived.
At the same time, in the entire series where they had a death fakeout like what we got with Lovro, if Kayano ended up being the only one killed off for real, I would’ve been upset.
So I would’ve not had that happen at all. I would’ve settled for Kayano getting hurt, or being about to get hurt when she tried to help only to have Korosensei cover for her, but not have her literally dying.
18. Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?
Whether you ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ a pairing is down to preference.
There are plenty of pairings in other series that have strong evidence behind them and even then, there will be a handful of people from the more popular ship that twist facts to suit their narratives because they don’t like opposing pairings. They’ll even bend fiction into fact to deny actual facts. That’s being biased, but I can’t even say these people are “in denial” because a lot of those people honestly do believe they’re 100% right. Even if you throw a fact in their face, they have some kind of warped excuse ready.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
Obnoxious, toxic shippers.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
You’d think that on a salty ask list, the question would be what the most vile ship is, not the purest one.
Come on, guys. Karma/Okuda is obviously the purest. Sarcasm aside, I really do think Karma/Okuda is the purest. It’s very sweet and genuine. The very guarded Karma can completely drop his walls and open his heart to Okuda and in turn, she watches out for Karma and really wants what’s best for him.
Putting aside the deadly pranks they can unleash on others, Karma and Okuda’s relationship is definitely pure.
21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?
I don’t mind crack ships at all but I would prefer that there’s something logical that connects the characters involved, even if it’s a crack ship.
22. Popular character you hate?
I don’t hate any of the popular characters, but I find that I’m much more mild about Nakamura than a lot of people in this fandom. I like her, but clearly not as much as everyone else.
23. Unpopular character you love?
Sugino is one of my favourites. No love from the fandom, sadly.
He’s referred to as Nagisa’s “best friend” by official material but it seems the fandom completely buries this. He’s always written off as a goddamn third wheel to Karma and Nagisa no matter if it’s shippy or just platonic and that’s such a pet peeve of mine. Official material indicates that Nagisa/Sugino/Karma get along well as a trio, but noooo, fandom seems to have this perception that Karma and Sugino only see one other as a friend-of-a-friend (Nagisa).
I feel that they might not have been friends if not for Nagisa, but after they got to know each other, Karma and Sugino would still be good friends even if Nagisa’s not around.
24. Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not?
I’ll say yes. For a weekly Jump series, AssClass is a lot more off the wall compared to the usual stuff, but it has your standard life lessons/morals for not just kids, but anyone. Plus it’s short and sweet at ~180 chapters.
25. How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX?
I wouldn’t change the ending. Korosensei had to die or else it would cheapen the meaning of the story.
26. Most shippable character?
The fandom would say it’s Karma, but I will say it’s someone with a welcoming and adaptable personality like Sugino. Isogai works too.
27. Least shippable character?
Outside of actual villains, probably Asano. This isn’t meant as an insult, but it’s hard to find a match for him because of his personality.
I didn’t have great answers, but I tried, lol.

Tumblr media
As he walked down the mountain path, Chiba turned to look behind him; thankfully, not a single person was in sight. He also turned back to look at what was before him once again. He could recognise Hara and Fuwa from a distance, but they were too far from hearing range.
Seeing that the coast was clear, he leaned down slightly and cleared his throat. “Hey, Kurahashi.”
From his right, Kurahashi, who had been strangely quiet the whole time, perked up at her name. “Yeah?”
Chiba shifted uncomfortably. “I didn’t say anything earlier…” He dug his hands into his pockets. “Mostly to not ruin the mood, but…”
Slowly, he turned to look at her and was nearly taken aback by the solemn expression Kurahashi was wearing. But he shouldn’t be really surprised. Today hadn’t been a very good day for the usually bubbly girl, after all.
Chiba decided that there was no need for him to hold back.
“But when Okajima told us earlier that training with Takaoka-sensei might actually be fun because he’s super friendly and all that stuff- unlike Karasuma-sensei, apparently.” He rolled his eyes sarcastically at the last remark. “That actually compelled me to trust him even less, for some reason.”
He let out a scoff. “Not that I trust him in the first place. Just something about the new teacher puts me off. Maybe it’s the obnoxiously jolly attitude he had going on. Who knows?”
Chiba looked around as he talked, making sure that there was still nobody nearby.
“Whatever it is, I just can’t find myself easing up to him anytime soon- at least, that’s just how I feel.” He quickly added the end bit, not wanting to give off the wrong impression that he was being hateful for no reason.
“Me too, actually.” Kurahashi finally spoke up, looking at Chiba with unease visible all over her face. “I also didn’t say anything earlier, though I honestly want to…”
She lightly fiddled with the straps of her bookbag, kicking a small stray pebble away. “But I was kinda hurt when Oka-chin began saying those… things about Karasuma-sensei, all to basically prove that Takaoka-sensei is the better teacher for us just because he’s friendlier.”
“Which is a stupid thing to say, to be completely honest.” Chiba crossed his arms with a frown. “Forgive the lack of filter, by the way. But as distant and serious as he is, when Karasuma-sensei praises us for doing well in training and tests, he says it as it is. And when he sees that someone isn’t doing well, he’ll call it out just like that. He might sound harsh sometimes, but I like that he’s being blatantly honest with us.”
“Right!” Kurahashi nodded at him furiously. “His praises felt more well-earned because he’s typically distant. And I like that he takes us seriously, even if it’s just for training. Not many people do…”
Chiba hummed softly with a smile. “Do you think he’ll start leaving critiques on our next aptitude test results?” He grinned when saw Kurahashi’s eyes practically twinkling in delight.
“Oh, I hope so!” Kurahashi bounced in her steps. “Cause it means he’d point out the things he noticed from us, right?”
“Yeah! And you’ll know to what extent he’s paying attention to you.” Chiba added. “Like, yeah sure, I’m the top scorer in the shooting department. But will he then also point out the things I take into account to get that good at what I’m doing?”
His soft smile widened as he leaned down slightly.
“...Do you think he’ll also point out things I didn’t know I had in me all along?”
Kurahashi giggled, playfully hitting him on the shoulder. “It’s starting to sound like to me you’re just wanting to get Karasuma-sensei’s attention. Back off, Chiba-chan. I call dibs on him first and I don’t share~~”
“Alright, alright. I’m backing off…” Chiba huffed out a laugh, rubbing his shoulder. Playful as she supposedly was, Kurahashi went a bit… too strong with the slap. It kind of hurts. Not that he’d admit that out loud, though. “Anyways, don’t pay attention to what Okajima said earlier, Kurahashi. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Karasuma-sensei is a great teacher. The only reason Takaoka-sensei is taking over our PE class is that he’s gotten extremely busy.”
“Right! He said it himself!” Kurahashi agreed with a huff. “I think the cake just won Oka-chin over and that’s why he’s being biased earlier!”
Chiba nodded with an amused smile. “Speaking of cake, wanna head down to the cafe near the school campus? I saw that you also didn’t touch any of the sweets Takaoka-sensei brought with him.”
“Ah, yeah..” Kurahashi slightly faltered. “I kinda lost my appetite the second he said he spent all his money on those…”
“Yeah, what’s up with that?” Chiba frowned at the reminder. “Cause if I’m gifting people things they like out of the goodness of my heart, I wouldn’t tell them how much money I spent since that will definitely make them feel bad about it.”
He turned to look around them once again to make sure nobody was within hearing range and was pleasantly surprised to find that even Hara and Fuwa disappeared from his sight. Maybe he and Kurahashi took their time walking down the mountain path, it seemed.
“I know he said it wasn’t the case, but do you think Takaoka-sensei was really bribing us with the sweets?” Kurahashi hesitantly asked as she peered at him, her voice low and whispery.
Chiba bit off a scoff. “If he has to clarify that when he doesn’t even need to, then he’s definitely bribing us for sure.”
Kurahashi looked away, her head low, seemingly contemplating his answer.
They walked in silence for a bit. Not wanting his restless brain to overthink from the silence, Chiba decided he found the afternoon glow of their surroundings rather interesting. He could hear some distant chirps and leaves rustling, likely from the wind he found a bit too warm for his liking. Tea and cake inside a cosy, air-conditioned cafe are starting to sound like bliss to him. He kind of doesn’t want to go there alone, so he was hoping Kurahashi would take his offer.
“I don’t like Takaoka-sensei.” Kurahashi solidly declared, instantly pulling Chiba away from his thoughts.
He looked at her, eyes wide open, pleasantly surprised at the blatant honesty.
“I’m with you there. I don’t like him either.” Chiba replied with a frown. “Whatever his deal is, he better not suck at his job, at the very least. What is even the point of getting along with your students if you can’t teach them anything?”
Kurahashi nodded repeatedly at him with a hum.
“So,” Chiba gave her a soft smile, “cafe near the school?” He offered once again.
“Your treat?” Kurahashi smiled back, her eyes twinkling rather cheekily at him.
Chiba breathed out a laugh in pure amusement. “Fine! I guess your company is a good enough exchange itself…” He trailed off teasingly.
“Ehh~ It’s gonna be my treat next time we go out, don’t worry!” Kurahashi playfully elbowed him on the chest and… ouch.
It’s a shame that the afterschool tea plan with the rest of their classmates had to be cancelled. Kurahashi herself looked to be the most excited about it. So, Chiba hoped this would be a good alternative in the meantime.
Maybe Karasuma will join them the next time they plan an afterschool outing together.

Navigation: Calendar Mark Masterlist
I wrote this whole thing because of this page:
Tumblr media
I personally find it extremely interesting that Chiba and Kurahashi were literally nowhere to be found the whole time Takaoka was getting along well with their classmates, both the first and second time. Like, not even a single background cameo in any of the panels, even though both tend to have a lot of background appearances in the manga.
And the only time we've ever seen them after Takaoka's introduction was them being visibly unsure about having Takaoka as their new PE teacher... which was then brushed off.
Considering that Kurahashi and Chiba were still not shown in any panel while Takaoka was getting along with their classmates the next day... until he showed his true colours, that is, it's safe to assume that their feelings about him still hasn't changed, even if their concerns were intially brushed off by their classmates.

Kaho for character bingo?
MY BEAUTIFUL BABY 😭💕
Tumblr media
I don't care what any of y'all say, but my girl Kaho deserves SO MUCH BETTER it's not even funny.
I've written way too many rants and essays as to why, so I'll just link a masterlist of my works of her, because I want to avoid writing another long essay 😭
Kaho is someone who deserves a better conclusion to her arc, a more fitting consequences to her actions, AND WHY THE FUCK DID MATSUI MADE HER STAY WITH THAT ASSHOLE POST CANON WHEN SHE CLEARLY DIDN'T LIKE HIM AT ALL??!?!
I am just so glad the anime omitted her and her arc because I just can't, you guys 😭

The more I reread the Retaliation Arc, the more pissed I get towards 3E and Koro:
Tumblr media
The way that what Irina had said to the kids was actually way worse... but all she'd gotten from them in retaliation was crumpled papers, erasers, and textbooks being thrown at her.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, this was literally what all Kaho said to Maehara and she got what? Involuntarily drugged with laxatives and got heavy tree branches falling down on her under the pouring rain IN PUBLIC.
The worse part is that she wasn't even the least aware that all those unfortunate series of events in a day was strategically planned by a TEACHER and executed by HIS STUDENTS.
All because they were under the impression that she should be lumped on the same level as Seo who, mind you, was the one who actually insulted Maehara, which prompted him to talk back... and caused the whole gang kicking under the rain cause god forbid a 3E member from fighting back against the discrimination.
Tumblr media
Sugino, dear, your friend just got jumped and continuously gang kicked by Seo and his classmates under the rain... Kaho is definitely the least of your worries right now...
Tumblr media
AREN'T YOU A TEACHER??!?
What do you gain from this aside from basically telling your own students to publicly humiliate two 15 YEAR OLDS by stooping to their level, just to get that little bit of satisfaction from childish revenge???
I don't understand it at all 😕
Tumblr media
Also, I just noticed a tiny detail in this chapter which I find... interesting, was how Nagisa outright stated that Maehara dated girls so fast that you rarely spot him with the same girl twice.
But in this panel, Kaho seemed to be implying that she and Maehara were already dating BEFORE he dropped to Class E, which was in March 2014. Keep in mind that this chapter took place in June 2014, which could potentially mean that they've been seeing each other for more than 3 months.
Tumblr media
So what is the truth here, boy?
That you might have been seeing girls behind Kaho's back for months all this time, yet you've chosen to expose her to Seo (of all goddamn people gosh) when she was so close to getting both of you out of trouble, because you were under the impression that she might be cheating on you as well?
Hmmm truly interesting indeed 🤔

Personal opinion, but I highkey don't like the fact that Chiba didn't get rid of his bangs later in canon...
And no, I'm not saying this just because I am such an enthusiast for his eyes (i mean that's partially a reason too but nevermind that).
I mean it wasn't even entirely his choice to have his bangs to cover his eyes. He literally did it just to accommodate with his peers rather than for himself. Not to mention that it could have also been a contributing factor as to why he ended up becoming so independent to the point that it's concerning.
So having him keep that hairstyle until he's in his 20's just rubs me off the wrong way.
Not to mention that in the graduation album, he was literally still facing the same problem he had like over 10 years ago... if Matsui thought that I'm gonna be satisfied with the 1-chapter mild development he had in the island arc about relying on others, then he's dead wrong.
Because post-island arc, I HARDLY saw any sort of development on Chiba's character... especially on the timeskip.
I don't know, I just think that Chiba deserves way more than always having to adjust for other people in order to be accepted as a functional member of society even when he's already a fully grown adult.
But then again, we're talking about the same character who actually had a very concerning yet relatable past that was never once addressed in the actual series for some reason...

In a similar line to your last post, which characters do you think are neurodivergent (ADHD, on the autism spectrum) or have mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, etc)? I’ve headcanoned that Okuda is on the spectrum for a while and always thought that it makes sense that many of the kids would have ADHD (it’d explain how their grades nosedived second year and why the main building wasn’t a good fit for them) and it’d fit with Assclass and it’s themes better than other series.
Anon is referencing this post
I definitely agree that most of the class is likely neurodivergent in some way. But it’s kind of hard here because I don’t want to generalize any specific condition, or stereotype it in some way.
Autism spectrum: this is hard to tell, and pls take it with a grain of salt from me. But some students I could see with it…Okuda, Itona, possibly Sugaya and Fuwa.
Anxiety: I’m thinking Karma, Mimura, Sugino, Nagisa maybe, Muramatsu, and Okuda has some social anxiety.
Depression: honestly I feel like Terasaka has it. Like you could argue that he goes through a kind of depressive episode in the early part of the series, def before 3-E too. Anime-Chiba might have depression. Kanzaki and Hazama are strong possibilities. Oh and Kayano/Akari for sure is going through it. Nagisa also is a definite yes.
ADHD: Okajima, Fuwa, Kimura, Hara, Takebayashi, Yada, Okano, Maehara??
Other ideas I have:
Kayano obviously suffers from PTSD, after finding her sister’s dead body.
I think Karma would have Borderline Personality Disorder. He fits a lot of the symptoms ngl. I might make a separate post about this tho.
Gakushuu is hard to pinpoint. Possibly depression? PTSD? I really am not sure.
Anyways please take all this with a grain of salt haha. I think it’s fair to assume they’re majorly neurodivergent, but I also don’t want to attribute ADHD to equal lacking in grades. It can be a struggle for sure, especially with the insane way that Kunugigaoka works. But again, I don’t want to stereotype it.

Chiba Ryuunosuke ー The calm type of social butterfly?
So yesterday, Zaina and I had a fairly long talk about how Chiba is a lot more social and friendly than he appeared to be despite being a supposed introvert.
And no, I am not just talking about him being comfortable in his own friend group, which is a very normal thing among introverted people. In fact, if you actually read the manga and some of the extra materials Matsui had released post-AssClass, most of the students you see him interacting with the most are the ones who are outside of his friend group... well, that is if you consider his friend group being him and the art trio even though there are hardly any scenes of them actually interacting in canon but ahehe.
Zaina pointed out to me, or rather stated an unpopular opinion about how Group 2 is like the kids have their seperate group of friends instead of them being a whole friend group, which is a popular take in the fandom, and I completely agree with her. Because think about it, we have the Art trio (Sugaya, Mimura, and Okajima), Hayami is friends with Touka and possibly even Hinano as well, Fuwa has Ritsu and Hara initially, and Nakamura just goes to whatever friend group she sees and dives right in.
As for Chiba (take this with a grain of salt as this is purely based from how I generally understood his character in the manga), I believe that he has almost the same case as Nakamura whereas instead of forcing himself into random friend groups like she does, he gets pulled into different friend groups because he had gained the trust of the rather many people he had interacted with before.
I'm basing this assumption from some of the kids I've seen him interacting with in the mangaー Hinano, Maehara, Sugino, Okano, Isogai, Kimura, Okajima, and Karma to name a few. As for the extra materials like the albums and the novel parts of the lesson books (korotan and korosuu), there was Nakamura, Nagisa, and Takebayashi as far as I still vaguely remember.
I find it so interesting that despite the little screen time he had even in the manga, he still managed to be seen interacting and maybe even becoming friends with at least one member from each group, the most being in Group 1 (5 out of 7 members) which is also the group that has most of the class extroverts.
This pretty much supports my headcanon about how Chiba finds it easier to get along with people who are more talkative than he is instead of people who are quieter than him, because he doesn't feel pressured to hard carry a conversation, which is something he understandably struggles with for someone whose only source of social interaction growing up was with his family, as I have previously talked about in here.
This also explains why he struggled to get along with Hayami outside of school even though they worked so well together whenever they get paired up for training and such.
And no, I am not saying that Chiba is an extrovert. He still is not despite what I have said, not even an ambivert actually. He's just a very social introvert. Not exactly loud nor very talkative, but he finds it easy to approach anyone who is willing to look past his supposed unapproachable appearance and just talk to him without prejudice. He's not the type to unnecessarily bring attention to himself when in a group, definitely not lol. But he's the kind of social introvert who prefers to be in a friend group with extroverted people and would already be contented with just watching his loud friends having fun.
How do I say this? He likes the commotion without wanting to cause said commotion lol.
Chiba is also canonically empathetic, observant, and quietly looks after people. This was evidently shown in the Takaoka arc when he asked Hinano regarding her feelings about the situation despite the very welcoming front Takaoka had firstly shown to the class on his first day, which shows that despite Hinano's fixation towards Karasuma being considered as mere fangirling that can be brushed off, Chiba still pays attention enough that he'd consider her feelings for something as supposedly simple as substitute teaching. (The anime adaptation completely omitted this scene by the way, hence why it may be unfamiliar to some of you).

What really hit me in this panel (It's seriously just one panel lol), was that Chiba was so casual when he asked Hinano about it. As in, you could tell he probably doesn't want this to be made a big deal of, let alone accidentally bring unnecessary attention to Hinano. Because I assure you, if he instead pulled her in and whispered to her, people around them will find it suspicious at how they are huddling together and will make a big deal out of it then (reminder: more than half of Class E are ridiculously nosy).
Chiba clearly knows that and definitely doesn't want that to happen to Hinano, of all people. Especially considering what happened later in the chapter or, what nearly happened to Hinano only because she decided to be loud about it. Yikes.
I know a lot of people like to use what Chiba had subtly done for Karma in the finals arc as a popular example, since it's also one of the only scenes that had made it to the anime adaptation. But I decided to give more light to what he had done for Hinano because it fully showcases how observant and caring he is and at the same time, taking more of his surroundings into consideration.
Zaina also added how while he's the type to quietly enjoy the commotion his extroverted friends do whenever they have fun, whenever he feels that someone is likely feeling left out, he'd be also the type to try including them in and making sure that they feel belonged. Because I don't know about y'all, but unless they deserved it, I strongly believe Chiba wouldn't want people to go through what he did growing up.
Now the question is, how does Chiba get along so well with plenty of people?
Honestly, if you looked past his appearance, which inadvertently does make him seem very quiet and gloomy, Chiba has always been a friendly and happy kid. The independent, mature, and serious side of him is mostly showcased whenever he's in "work mode", which is pretty telling that he clearly knows when to take things seriously and when to have fun. Chiba is known to be very calm and gentle among the class, which is definitely the big part of his personality that drew non-judgemental people towards him (this was stated in the korosuu, @clownao please confirm this unless I'm remembering it wrong T-T).
Unless you're one of the many people who stubbornly refuses to approach him due to his appearance, Chiba's personality is what makes him naturally likeable, especially with his classmates. Like who wouldn't want to be friends with someone who's just as unconditionally kind as he is?
And to think that he still managed to turn out like this despite the social bullying he had went through growing up 💔
Just so you know, I am completely basing this from the screen time he had in the series (anime, manga, and the extra materials), as in what was shown canonically. For all we know, he's probably friends with everyone in the class and that Matsui just didn't bother showcasing them all since Chiba is just a side character who doesn't have to have many screen time.
People just either avoids him, don't bother talking to him, or straight up just wants to be his friend.
There are no other options outside of the given three :D
