I promise I'll stop posting so often about Helluva Boss soon. Probably. Maybe. (Doubtful.) There's just a LOT to notice and speculate on in the latest episode. Including the lowkey way Fizzarolli's fear is handled in this scene:

After mulling it over, I think I really like the way the storyboarders went with this. We've already been shown the love and trust these two have for each other, plus we've seen that Ozzie is an engineer/inventor type. He almost certainly built those prosthetics for Fizz. Maintenance and repair are a familiar shared activity, regardless.

The mood is relaxed and affectionate as the two of them enter the workshop(?) and get settled; Fizz apologizes for getting "messy" because he feels bad for damaging Ozzie's handiwork, Ozzie reassures him that what he cares about is Fizz himself, Fizz is touched and asks how his partner's day was. He's doing fine until the scissors come out.

And then he's obviously _not_ fine, but he doesn't say anything or try to move away. His eyes track the scissors as Ozzie comes closer and he braces for pain:

before realizing that all Ozzie's doing is cutting off his outfit sleeve. Then he's thoroughly distracted by the news that Stolas wanted a crystal for Blitzo, and that carries them through until Ozzie actually does start work on the arm.

I'm guessing that process was not painless, because then we skip to Fizz getting the new arm. He looks slightly apprehensive,slightly surprised that it doesn't hurt, and then happy.

And what is Ozzie doing during all this? Completely ignoring Fizz's distress, that's what. Acting normal, sharing gossip, very proud of himself for saying no to Stolas, even starting to sing as he takes hold of the damaged arm.

Is he callous? Oblivious? I don't think so. We would have seen Fizz getting tense and anxious a lot earlier in that case. Instead the two of them must have worked out through trial and error that this approach is what helps most to get Fizz through medical procedures that must bring up very bad memories.

The episode took some pains to show us early on that these two interact as equals and that Fizz has NO problem being assertive in their daily lives. And while there are hints that Ozzie may be about to go overboard with the protectiveness next episode, this subtle evidence of teamwork is one of the things that makes me confident they'll confront and resolve the problem by the end of S2E7.

(Celebrating an Asian Mid-Autumn festival with Levi and your toddler. After a hearty meal, you took a stroll in the park with handmade lanterns.)

Levi was washing the dishes as you dressed your toddler up in a bear onesie. You picked a cream colour bear onesie this time because you were going out for a stroll. Your toddler was screaming excitedly as it was rare that you would go out after the sun set. But today was special. It was the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Levi had put up colourful lanterns around on your porch and back garden the week before. He knew how much you looked forward to this festival. He made sure to light up the lanterns every night just to see your happy smiles. He remembered you told him that the Mid-Autumn festival was your favourite festival of the year. The cool autumn breeze, the beautiful lanterns illuminating the night, and the soft crunching sound of leaves beneath your feet. And oh, this year you had a little bear tagging along.

Wiping his hands on a clean cloth, Levi walked into the living room to find you tying your little bear's shoes on his tiny feet. Levi grinned at the sight of his two favourite humans. He dropped the cloth at the counter and walked toward the store room.

"Levi? Are you ready to go?" You helped your little bear stand up. As you turned, you found Levi holding two lanterns in his hand. His grin mimicked yours.

"I got it for you and Bear. It'll be the total experience." Levi got you a traditional star-shaped lantern that required a candle while your little bear got a LED light lit apple-shaped lantern. You showed your little bear how to properly set up a traditional lantern, and when Levi lit up the LED light, your little bear squealed in delight.

With Levi walking in the middle, he held you and bear with his free hands. Bear was shaking his little apple-shaped lantern a bit too much but you were glad Levi's quick thinking about getting him a LED-light lit lantern. You star-shaped lantern glowed a soft, warm yellow light. You remembered the days when you were young, you would have a similar lantern to attend festivals with your friends and families. And now, you were doing it with the love of your life and your little bear.

The park was lit up with countless colourful lanterns. Happy people chattered and crowded the place. There were people selling hot snacks and tea, small game stalls to lighten up the spirit, and a lot of people walking with handmade lanterns. You greeted people here and there, Levi nodded politely at them and even smiled at some. Levi was in a good mood. Your little bear was proud of his little apple-shaped lantern, showing it to every person that stopped by to say hello.

After a few games and running after a run-away wobbling little bear, the people in the park started to disperse. Levi had won you a white bunny plush toy and your little bear had fallen asleep in Levi's arms. Levi insisted on carrying bear in one arm while holding yours with his other hand. You walked side by side in silence, bumping into each other every other step, reminiscing the dates you used to go to before you had bear.

You stared at Levi, smiling so shyly and so... comfortably at him. How could you still be shy with the man you had been together for years?

"Yes, my angel?" Levi asked.

"Nothing, just.. shy." You leaned into him, hiding your face at the crook of his neck, feeling his warmth on your reddened cheek.

"You're my wife and we have a baby now and you're still shy around me?" Levi leaned his face toward you. You giggled, embarrassed.

"You're forever my princess, you know." Levi wrapped his arm around your waist and kissed the side of your head. "I'm glad you are still shy around me."

"So is it like a date?" You looked at him expectedly.

Levi's eyes lit up and he laughed softly. He leaned in and kissed your nose. "It's a date. A date with the love of my life."

You stared at each other's eyes, seeing your reflection and love, a love so certain, so sure, before you leaned in for a long kiss.

Levi whispered, "I love you, y/n."

You swore even the moon was a little jealous of you tonight.

So a little more on the Paul and Pokey fic I am planning.

Paul actually has zero clue that Pokey, or Otho, is an eldritch monstrosity.

Which means Pokey is suffering experiencing this ALL ALONE. There is no one he can go to to confide in. He can't tell any of these humans, they wouldn't believe him anyhow. Even if he explained it to his brothers they wouldn't understand.

Pokey is doing the human experience entirely on his own, from the point of view of someone who has lived an eternity and more and never before had to carry these burdens, and there is not a SINGLE PERSON - Horror or Human - who can understand what he is going through.

I did spend a good chunk of time last Friday unleashing on him about our absolutely abysmal "merit increase" budgets. We're talking about one of the top 15 companies in the world by market cap, whose annual revenue went up 14% in 2023, and because we apparently didn't hit some unknown secret business unit goals, they're not even giving people enough money to cover cost-of-living increases.

I am incensed. And obviously, I'm already three quarters of the way out the door and I'm very happy with what I was able to negotiate for my new position, so it was very easy for me to be blunt-as-fuck with him but honestly, the abject greed is just beyond the pale. And of course they're trying to ameliorate it by saying that anyone over a certain pay grade isn't getting any raise at all. But everyone at that pay grade or higher has STOCK! A stock that has gone up by 5% in value over the last year, and 90% in the past five years.

UGH. I can't WAIT to quit.

Those divorce papers are getting signed this afternoon. I used some other "high priority" item to get him to meet with me today. He's NOT ESCAPING THIS DIVORCE! I will hunt him down if I have to.

Look I rewatched mice and murder before mentopolis because I had the feeling another brennan mystery was on our hands and I wanted to be fucking prepped so I did a little research.

Norrel Ojjicle is dead, and it seems clear that norrel is the neurological system of the brain, which affects the health and wellness of your nervous system. We know Elias is under a lot of stress and pressure from their job, and so my current theory is that the high levels of stress combined with other factors (idk what yet) killed Norrell, and so the giant crash and almost earthquake like thing at the end of episode one was Elias's neurological system shutting down or malfunctioning, he's having essentially a nervous breakdown, and in nervous breakdowns I know that for me personally, I'm more impulsive. So norrell feeling unwell and dying may have given Imelda an in to influence the big guy.
