Local washed up pop star becomes a nurse and is going to make it everyone's problem.

Decibel was one of my first ocs, I felt he needed a bit of a redesign/rewrite.

In general, I just love the idea of Cybertron having an entire entertainment industry, at least in tfa (which is technically canon) and they have their overnight successes, flops and one-hit wonders.

Decibel is sort of a manufactured pop star, (like a k-pop idol) trained and modified to appeal to mainstream audiences. He had a successful run, even toured with Rosanna and Flip Sides for a season, but he ultimately burned out and his career fizzled into obscurity shortly after.

His music is still a hit in Quintessa of all places, but that's another story.

Some years and a frame overhaul later, he became a traveling nurse, working all over autobot territory wherever he was needed. Even Delphi for a bit.

I'm not well versed in Transformers, but who is your favorite Autobot? What's one thing that if Hasbro called you up right now and said they would do whatever you suggested, you tell them?

My favourite Autobot is easy because I don't like most of them very much. I love Decepticons.

It's either Jazz or Ratchet or Rodimus, depending on the phase of the moon and whether my brain is in RavWaves mode or Deadlock mode.

Jazz and Ratchet and Rodimus are all people who probably would have been Decepticons if it weren't for a stroke of fate.

I also love Rosanna, but she's a civilian and she's been in like 3 things, one of which almost everyone hates.

The problems with Autobots:

they tend to use the same colour schemes which makes them hard to tell apart

many of them are boring af

the Decepticon movement was a legitimate revolution against an extremely bigoted and oppressive government, and the Autobots were the liberals who patted them on the hand and said "we can do this the nice way" even though most of them were from social classes that were literally disposable.

some of them are fucking fascists

some of them are just such goodie two shoes rule bound characters you have to laugh (Star Saber in anything other than IDW was probably the robot version of Sheldon Cooper once)

It's really only in TFA that I don't think Optimus Prime is a giant hypocrite. I don't hate him. I think he's an awesome character. I enjoy him a lot! I also write a lot of fic where he gets his aft handed to him, at least verbally.

But I don't really sympathise with him. Because even when he's unfailingly sweet, like in TFP, he's still...a part of the problem, not the solution.

In some series the Decepticons did become horrible and genocidal, which is wrong, of course, but that led in IDW at least to both sides playing atrocity chicken.

In other series the Decepticons are anti-human mostly because we're in their way and we like the Autobots. In the Bumblebee movie they never even wanted to come here, but they had to--it is Prime's fault that their war came to Earth.

If Hasbro was willing to do whatever I said I would ask them to create a series of all the femme characters most people don't know about. And not make them teeny tiny Core Class dolls. (I own a few of them because they're cute, but.)

I would get them to include Ravage now that ES has confirmed her for a femme. (She is ACAB, assigned cat at birth.)

This would also include:

Esmeral, who should really be a leaderclass because her husband is the size of a small planet (from the Victory manga)

General Strika, who is the least feminine female character in all of transformers and a butch goddess of war (from TFA and Beast Machines)

Botanica because she's cool AF

Rosanna and her evil twin Flipsides (Rosanna's in KP but both of them are in... TFA, I thought? For a heartbeat.)

Howlback (done like her twin sister Ravi, with biped-to-quad transformation that does not involve extra limbs hanging off, because both MMC and Xtransbots have done it just fine) from the Cobalt Sentries who never got a show

Lyzack (from Victory -- the twin sister of Leozack who defends the home front and is a teal and pink seeker)

Nautica (from the IDW comics, who is the most adorable of nerds even if she is Ravage's unwanted aemula/kismesis/hatecrush until they make friends)

the Megatronia combiner which includes Megaempress, Trickdiamond, Lunaclub, Flowspade and Moonheart)

Minerva (yes there's a legacy but it's tiny and they made it a walgreens exclusive)

Clobber (from Cyberverse)

Nightbird (G1 not ROTB)

Termagax (Megatron's mom from the IDW 2019 series)

I have nothing against Elita-1, Arcee, Windblade, Chromia, Moonracer and Slipstream but some people can name hundreds of male characters and only those six and not even all of them.

If I was also G-d of the Transformers franchise as a whole, I would revive Kiss Players, cut out all the bad sex jokes and dropped panties of teenagers, rename a few things -- we do not need a base called "the spiral vagina" -- and take the plot we were actually given in between sex jokes, which was very cool, and write it all out as a comic/story/cartoon. They did the plot in the last few episodes of the radio show after kind of leading up to it very slowly between dirty jokes.

Everyone says Kiss Players is the worst thing Transformers ever made. I'm sorry, that's RID 2015, which is a Transformers show for the "Blue Lives Matter" crowd where the entire plot of the show is to find all these low-class Decepticons who are from denigrated castes that escaped from a prison ship and throw them all back in jail. Like seriously fuck you very much.

I will take perverted panty jokes over asskissing the cops any day. Besides some of the stuff that looks so bad and gross looks so bad and gross because it is--you're not supposed to be down with it, you're supposed to guess that a certain person is being groomed looooong before she figures it out. and the main human characters are actually Secretly Lesbians

Dot and Alex Malto, our favourite couple, are living at their barn with their SEVEN children: Robbie and Mo AND their Terran babies: Twitch, Thrash, Hash Tag, Jawbreaker, and Nightshade!

Some couples happened AFTER the War or DURING the late war. Some of them including Decepticon and Autobot love matches and forbidden romances. That however is a different story it self… quite a long one as well.

The Cassettes wanted more independence and that’s why they aren’t with Blaster or Soundwave. Blaster was supportive with it while Soundwave… he just worries about his babies.

Tfa lore headcanon dump

Mostly spurred by bits of existing lore in the comics and the Allspark Almanac

-The Autobots don't have visual arts, but they do have music. Unfortunately the only really accepted form of music they have is propaganda songs, and only through a few state sanctioned musicians (Windy and Rosanna being the big ones). There's a pretty big emphasis on their voices being crafted specifically for singing, whereas the layman shouldn't bother trying, stigmatized as "nobody wanting to hear that."

-Conversely, the Decepticons don't really have music, the closest thing they have being spoken word poetry. They do have some degree of visual arts, the most prominent being statues, though most of those are specifically as memorials. After the war, especially after the attacks from the omega sentinels, a lot of the bodies of the fallen were unrecoverable, and a pretty big part of cybertronian funerals (especially military) involves showing the empty shell before it's recycled into more living metal, so rather than try to hold the funeral without being able to see who's being honored, or, in really bad cases, without even having a body to recycle, a statue would be erected by someone close to the deceased as a proxy of sorts for the real body. Originally they'd be recycled as the bodies they mimic were, but for particularly notable figures, it became common practice to leave the statue up so the mech it honors may live on through its image.

-Blitzwing singing is a result of being brought online in a colony world that innovated on the more common practice of spoken word poetry with wild tones and pitches for emphasis. It sorta evolved into singing naturally, but it didn't catch on back on Cybertron proper until later, during the war, long after Decepticon culture split from Autobot, and it didn't evolve to add instrumentals until even later (which is why Megatron is unfamiliar with music as a concept until he gets to earth, even though Blitzwing sings all the time.)

-energon and oil usually come in different forms and blends with different tastes, but the military grade stuff is usually all the same cubes and barrels. The horde of it in the crashed Decepticon warship Optimus lost Elita-1 in wasnt military grade, it was what war mechs pooling their resources could afford on a less-than-affluent budget. Pretty much all the cheap stuff Megatron bought out early on in the war before it got to be in shorter supply. It was basically an abandoned Costco full of cup ramen.

-Empurata and other reformatting based punishments used to be commonplace before the war, but phased out when the higher ups caught wind that tensions were rising and the Decepticons were gaining traction. The last thing they needed was to seem more brutal or unfair than they were already being accused of. That being said, it was still in practice when the Decepticons had just started. Shockwave and Lugnut were both sentenced to empurata for the same incident, when they were both caught loudly shouting over each other at a protest about who's a bigger heretic in Megatron's honor, which eventually turned into a fistfight, and ended with a crater in the ground when Lugnut accidentally set off an early model of his Punch of Kill Everything. Next thing they knew, they were both cyclopses with claws where their hands used to be. They've hated each other ever since and learned nothing. At least Lugnut got an updated POKE after the beta version was confiscated.

-Warframes were not paid fairly, usually treated as disposable, and their only choices for work were usually low paying manual labor, law enforcement, gladiator matches, or getting shipped off to fight and die so wealthy Autobots could have a new vacation spot after they've cleaned up the corpses they had to make to get it. The Decepticons honestly had every reason to revolt. Its also the direct reason Decepticons in general seem to be an army of freaks and weirdos; The Autobots really ingrained the whole "nameless, faceless cog in the machine" thing into warframes, so the cons started a culture that leaned into the parts of them that may be considered deviant, undesirable or "defective" in a drone.

-Nonspeaking beastformers are still sentient, and sparkless drones aren't really considered "alive," so the concept of nonsapient animals is a little foreign to most cybertronians, though not completely unprecedented. It took team prime a good while before they realized animals couldnt really grasp what they were saying. Even more foreign is living beings eating each other, because the drones and beastformers only really fuel up on straight energon, same as everyone else. The first time Prowl saw a dog eat a squirrel completely uprooted his worldview, but as much as it shook him, it didn't break his love of nature.

-The sapience of beastformers seriously complicates the ethics of Autobots keeping pets (which is commonplace among Cybertron's wealthy). For a bot with a beast mode and no voice synthesizer, your only real job prospects are exceedingly simple gruntwork, farm work, scavenging, or getting to hang around some rich douchebot's estate all day at the cost of your dignity and what few rights you had.

-Cybertronians don't really feel sleepy on a regular cycle the way humans do, but dedicating a solid chunk of time to powering down and giving their systems a rest is generally considered necessary for the sake of conserving fuel. Failing to do so usually ends in overheating and sometimes system crashing, which feels more like being way too hyper until you hit the wall and pass out than slowly nodding off, but it can be staved off with coolant and refueling.

-the constructions are not the only mechs to be weirdly attracted to random earth vehicles, they're just the only ones who can't keep it behind their panels, so to speak. Every transformer who has set foot in earth, whether they be Autobot or Decepticon, mech or fem, young or old, has had a big stupid crush on at least ONE earth vehicle. Whether they want to admit it or not.

Hmm, potential options for those sent by Shockwave:

Blurr. I love TFA Blurr and have a soft spot for ShockBlurr plus he trusts Longarm entirely given he had the Decepticons are invading news and still went to him first instead of calling up the Magnus/Leadership despite Shockwave being out of the way at the Space Bridge. Or, at least, that's my interpretation.

Doubledealer, always fun to use less well-known characters and fun tie in to other characters if needed.

Punch/Counterpunch, works for both Decepticons and Autobots and is an interesting unused character.

Jazz, who apparently was a spy for Longarm before getting promoted to Elite Guard/Sentinel Babysitter. Plus it's Jazz.

Rosanna/Flip Sides, a contact who could get them in as a preform and seemingly unknown if she's playing Autobot or Decepticon.

Or maybe a mix. Like some combination of the others sent by Longarm and Rosanna getting them in or something. Thoughts?

Random Transformers Idea:

A sitcom based around a new york accent having Frenzy and Rumble, where they have some broventures while Soundwave is both the mother and apartment for the two, and Ravage, Lazerbeak, Buzzsaw, and Ratbat being the pets, and there would also be Barricade, just being Frenzys friend/uncle.

One of their sub adventures being Frenzy falling inlove with another cassette bot, but its an autobot cassette, so they would meet in a secret location with Barricade basically being his ride there, maybe this Playback cassette character since it would probably have this jock and nerd type of connection, or same with this Rosanna cassette (slight downside being a kissplayer character but outside that i think she can be pretty solid) where her and Frenzy would have a good girl and bad boy dynamic.

There is probably senarios i can think of where either can work so i'll make those an Alternate Transformers Idea.

About Rosanna

Rosanna of Fractyl is a Cybertronian pop idol singer. She exists in the Kiss Players and TFA canons. She is also seen at a protest in the IDW 2005 comics with her purple sister, Flip Sides.

Flip Sides and Rosanna are cassetticons and they are the same model as Rewind and Eject, but with feminising modifications, such as a metal "skirt". Although all of Rosanna's toys have been sold with weapons, she doesn't seem to use them in canon. There is an implication in some canon materials that Rosanna (who is an Autobot) and Filp Sides (who is a Decepticon) may be the same person, but I don't play them that way.

I can play her from KP or TFA equally well. I know KP very well. I can also play the one in my Voice of Stanix fics. I do not mind playing KP verse as long as people aren't gross about it.

I don't have a lot of rules--they're all pretty obvious things, except one.

No god-modding or killing/maiming or NSFW happens to my characters without my explicit consent in direct messages.

Do not rush into relationships with my characters. It is OK to assume friendships that exist in canon but nothing further.

Don't assume that you know stuff about Rosanna that your character wouldn't canonically be in a position to know.

I do not care if male characters flirt with Rosanna, because dudes flirt with lesbians all the time. But as a player you should know that my Rosanna is a lesbian and your male characters have no chance of getting anywhere with her. She will not go out with them except as friends and she will never pop her panels for them. She is gay gay gay for girls girls girls.

No minors and especially no minors in my NSFW.

Rosanna canonically has exotic pets and in TFA she had a lot of them. I will joke about Carole Baskin coming after her because Carole Baskin is a joke, but I will block animal rights propaganda. My feelings about exotic pets are a) not exactly the same as Rosanna's b) not something I'm willing to fight about in an RP blog.
