Kerr Avon's costumes, rated
The sequel to Romana II's costumes, rated, here by popular* request! (*maybe not very popular.)
Screengrabs from here (copied rather than linked per their FAQs). Invaluable record of what Avon actually wears in which episode from here. I haven't included overcoats, spacesuits, or anything Avon doesn't actively choose to wear, like prison clothes. Which means that rating this monstrosity
Tumblr media
is left as an exercise for the reader.
I've also not done every single variation on black jackets with studded panels, even when they are technically different black jackets with studded panels, because otherwise we'd be here all night.
Tumblr media
As seen in Space Fall and Cygnus Alpha.
Ugh. It's fine. The heights of bonkersness that Blake's 7 costume design would reach are not even really hinted at here. It's a perfectly reasonable outfit - grey shirt, grey trousers, grey tabard-thing. Add a name badge and Avon could be stocking shelves in a fancy supermarket. I'll allow that it does look comfortable, which will not be a theme of much else on this list. 5/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Time Squad.
I don't hate the brown patchwork thing (though brown is rightly Blake's colour), but what's going on with the larger square over his stomach? I feel like he's about to do some welding or something and it's there to protect his clothes, but it is his clothes. Avon only wore this outfit once, and who can blame him? 2/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in The Web, Seek-Locate-Destroy, Mission to Destiny, Duel, Project Avalon, Breakdown, and Deliverance.
I think this one may have suffered from the passage of time. Because I look at it and think, why has Avon chosen to dress like an old-fashioned stereo system? But from the vantage point of 1978, I guess Avon had chosen to dress like a decidedly modern stereo system. Look at those rounded corners, he could be a first-gen iPod. And the matching grey of collar and cuffs is a nice touch. None of this answers the question of why he has buttons across his tits, but there are some things that are not for us to know. 8/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Bounty and Orac.
Oooh, green. Green is a nice change. And if you're watching Blake's 7 and you're enjoying those green sleeves, you'd better make the most of them, because other than one very notable exception, this is the last time that Avon wears an outfit that isn't brown, white, black or shades of grey for the entire rest of the series. The rest of it looks a bit like someone's Star Trek Discovery uniform cosplay got out of hand. 6/10, because green.
Tumblr media
As seen in Redemption and Killer.
Obviously, this is a classic. And full marks to Paul Darrow for wearing a costume that was literally bought from a sex shop and making it look like something that anyone might wear to their normal day of fighting oppression and engaging in homoerotic tension. 10/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Shadow, Horizon, Gambit, and Children of Auron.
OK fine I threw away the term "classic" too soon, this is the true classic, the time Avon decided to dress as a thermal blanket and then pair that with thigh-high boots. ICONIC. What I love about this is aside from being batshit, it's actually kind of a nice outfit? I imagine that shiny fabric was absolute hell to work with but the gathering at the shoulders means it hangs surprisingly well.
It also gains at least 5 bonus points for featuring in this, one of my all-time favourite Blake's 7 moments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wish I could find it as a gif, but you'll just have to join me in pretending these images are moving instead. And in heaving a nostalgic sigh for the era when men were allowed to have normal bodies on TV. 15/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Shadow.
I've tried to go for just one main outfit per episode, because this is already very long and we're only about halfway through. But I had to make an exception for matching! outfits! And all the better for being an outfit that looks great on all three of them. I only wish that Avon could have had some silver boots like Jenna is wearing, I think it would really have completed the look. 9/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Weapon, Pressure Point, Countdown, and Dawn of the Gods.
In some ways, this costume is quite practical. Avon is wearing something not a million miles from bikers' leathers here, and the quilted part of the chest and back would presumably offer him a bit of protection if he got into a fight. But also, it's the colour and style of a brothel sofa, and there's no way in hell he could wear this and retain the ability to lift his arms above his head.
God, I love this show. 10/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Trial, Hostage, Voice From the Past, The Keeper, Star One, Aftermath, and Powerplay.
I have less to say about this because - and I mean this in full tribute to the Blake's 7 costume designers - it's just a nice jacket! It stays in keeping with the design trends we see throughout the series, with panels of different fabrics, and spacewear shiny silver bits, but ultimately you could wear this on the street today and no one would give you a second look. I quite like that about it. 8/10.
Tumblr media
As seen Aftermath. (And the loose black shirt in Voice From the Past is similar too).
Maybe this is just my mid-00s goth-adjacent phase showing through, but I am, and always will be, a sucker for a man in this kind of shirt. 8/10, please don't make me justify this further.
Tumblr media
As seen in Volcano and Rumours of Death.
The first of many similar black outfits, where I'm going to be selective or this will get tedious very quickly. I think this is the best of them; after this, the 80s started up in earnest, and Avon's shoulders were never allowed to be their natural width again. 9/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in The Harvest of Kairos.
My parents haven't been camping in years, but somewhere in the attic they still have an old tent, which lives in a bag that looks a lot like this outfit. As if I needed any more reasons to dislike The Harvest of Kairos. 1/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Ultraworld.
Avon what are you doing. Brown is not your colour. I think I might headcanon that this is Blake's jacket, because aside from the brownness it also seems to be a fair bit too big for Avon. After a couple of seasons of squeezing him into the lobster outfit and other tight leather things, the costume designers seem to have swerved hard into boxy shapes from this point onwards. I disapprove. Honestly, I was going to skip this one except that I love what Dayna is wearing. Wish Avon could have some of that energy. 2/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Death-Watch.
Let's pause for a second, look to the left, and appreciate that Dayna is wearing another fabulous outfit. Now let's take a deep breath, and look at the utter monstrosity that Avon is wearing. Like a matador crossed with a bumper car. 0/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Rescue, Power, Traitor, Stardrive, Animals, Headhunter, Orbit, Warlord, and Blake.
Avon wears some kind of black jacket with studs for nearly all of season D, but I've picked this as the definitive one. I don't know if there's some kind of clever character development thing going on here with how big this costume is, like Avon is expanding into his leadership role, but weighed down by the responsibility too. It could be deliberate, it could just be what fashion was like in the early 80s.
What I do know is that however meaningful this costuming might be, it's not flattering. 5/10, and Avon finishes the series, sadly, no better dressed than he began it.

I do collect Barbies! This genuinely isn’t me trying to brag or sound arrogant, but all of my 59 Barbies I currently have are collector/special/limited edition. I like them not because of their status, but because their clothing/quality was so well done. They’re from the late 90s to 2000s.
I’m not gonna list them all of course, but I think you’ll like these as a lot listed are historical/time period inspired outfits. Let me know though if you have different/more style preferences and I’ll try to find some to share with you again.
Barbie Cafe Society
Barbie Faberge Porcelain (3 in series)
Barbie Great Fashions of the 20th Century (7 in series)
Barbie Hollywood Movie Star (6 in series)
Barbie Mrs. P.F.E. Albee: Avon (2 in series)
Barbie Royal Jewels (4 in series)
Barbie Victorian Tea Porcelain (2 in series)
Barbie Victorian with Cedric Bear
Barbie Wedgwood (2 in series)
The website I used when collecting is https://barbieguide.sosugary.com/index.php
It’s a great catalog of Barbie releases. You’ll find a lot more historical inspired dolls on there, and Barbie makes excellent porcelain dolls too that I think you’ll like.
And tips if you’re interested in fashion doll collecting…
Don’t buy newer collector/special/limited edition dolls from Mattel. They’re worse quality for outrageously more money. Trust me on this. (A lot of my collector Barbies I was able to get for $30-$40 USD new in box, compared to the $100+ USD price tag Mattel charges now for collector dolls).
Mattel has been declining in quality ever since 2016 (probably earlier) and is still going lower present day. So if you’re interested in good quality play-line or collector dolls, try to get pre 2016.
Mattel dolls most of the time have polypropylene hair, which is considered the worst hair quality fiber as it literally disintegrates over a few years and isn’t easily brushsble/stylable.
Mattel also gives most of their dolls cheap paper-like printed clothing or molded on clothes.
If you want quality, buy MGA. They have nylon hair (easily brushsble, stylable, and won’t disintegrate). Much higher quality clothes/fabrics with intricate details and complex designs.
Mattel=Quantity
MGA=Quality
Thank you for your time!
That's cool to hear :))) it's nice to find someone that shares the interest of dolls, even if it's a different kind! Although I learned a lot, thank you♡ I'll check out the older styled ones!!
I'm not very interested in fashion dolls (apart from those from the 1800s) so unfortunately I'm sticking to my child looking dolls, which is why I kind of like the American girl dolls that are supposed to look like 1900s/1800s
I'm going to take this opportunity to brag about my girls as if they were my children. Here are my some of my older dolls<3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like you say about Barbies, these dolls also have limited editions (such as the discontinued one with a very, very uncanny voice box from the 1880s) unfortunately, I don't have any of them. BUT, I do have two from the most famous doll makers, Kestner and Armand Marseille<3 Always have to look for the markings that tell exactly which model they are
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I have one special girl who I call Darling who has human hair!!
Tumblr media
And I just have to squeeze this in, when I was in Belfast I got to see a doll I have been such a big fan of for so many years. It's a doll that was floating around in the wreckage and actually seeing her up close in real life made me tear up in pure happiness. She was absolutely stunning, and I think she might (just might) be a similar model to my doll with the red boots, but i could get a good luck of her neck to see the "tag". Here she is!!
Tumblr media
I just had to, dolls are one of my biggest interest and i have to take every chance i get♡

Nikki @tex-treasures
howdy Nikki! thank you so much for the ask~
Sarah Smiles: What makes S/I happy? What cheers them up when they're feeling low?
"Most of the time, getting something drawn in their sketchbook. Definitely helps cheer them up by the end of the day if they feel they've managed to accomplish something small like that. They get cravings of being with people but when they're low, actually being in a conversation can stress them out. It's not uncommon for them to stop by the cafe and get a hot chocolate and some pastry, so they have a good bit of fuel to keep their brain going. I tend to put it on the house, as a little extra treat. Plus that makes them smile too. What's not to love about free food?
"That's actually a good point. Definitely when they're joining me and Zoe for a night out, they tend to bring takeout or home-cooked food. It's kinda like they especially get happy when they're able to share a meal with close friends. And I have to agree." - Douxie (platonic)
House of Memories: What is your favorite memory of S/I? Paint us a picture, please!
"Favourite memory? Good for you, I have the best memory of the Mighty Nein, so this is an easy one. We were staying a few days over in Berleben, Jester and Beau were hard at work with a cypher they were cracking to assist with the, ah....anyway, Archae came to me and mentioned they had a bookstore in town, and asked if I had a favourite book. Well, I told them one of my favourite's, Die Sternschnuppe über Eiselcross, and they seemed very excited to try it out themself. I did manage to tell them I had a copy in the Mansion library before they could run off and buy an extra. I thought that would be the end of it, but it wasn't.
"Fast forward a day, I went by the Mansion's library in the evening to pick up a book for myself, and found Archae fully asleep in one of the loungers. On their lap was a copy of Die Sternschnuppe and several wads of paper, on the table next to them was a Zemnian dictionary. They were trying to transcribe my book from Zemni to Common! I have a good memory but even I forgot I had used the original text for the library. But clearly that didn't stop them. It was so very precious to see that despite this obstacle, they wanted to find the same joy in something they knew I loved. I left them to sleep, although I ensured the cats brought them a blanket. It was a couple of weeks before they were coming to me to discuss the story, so I assume that is how long the translating took." - Caleb Widogast (familial)
When The Day Met The Night: How different/similar are you and S/I? What makes you different from each other/similar to one another?
"Avon and I have plenty of differences, even just from the visual comparisons. Their hair is short, my hair is long. I have a preference for tan, lavender, and earthy colors, although I dare say enjoy a dabble in the pastels when conducting official business. They tend to dress in fiery autumn or dark sanguine reds, an ocean's range of blues, bold and dark colors. I cook with no food that is made or originating from animals as part of my personal ethos. They are a meat-eater, that is all to be simply said. Whether from time, fae nature, or simple practise, I find myself to be most eloquent but subtle in inflections when required. I will never say a lie, but I have certainly given a not-quite-truth at times to a mortal I find disdainful. Avon is....forthright at all times. Occasionally physically, if they find a mortal to be a problem. I am a diplomat. They are a fighter.
"Still, there is much to be said about our similarities. Neither of us particularly like the necessity of fighting. Avon certainly won't decline a sparring practise, but that is not so much a fight more than a honing of skills, and I too find it important to keep one's vital skills honed. One of my skills is information gathering, through sex if it so helps, but I have never experienced the physical compulsion for such activity. Avon feels the same, a discussion we have shared after I mentioned the business that my Queen deigns of me at times and questioned whether that would complicate our relationship. Thankfully this is not the case. For more simple things: we both appreciate a calm day, we have a shared fondness for dancing, we are not opposed to small luxuries such as hot springs or expensive clothes, and our favourite time of day is sunset." - Aniketos (romantic)
Emperor's New Clothes: How would you describe your taste in fashion? Now, how would you describe S/I's? Do you trust that they could pick out an outfit for you that you'd like and vice versa?
"The little shadow's clothing choices are...plain. I can appreciate that. A good assassin never seeks to reveal themselves, by blending into a setting they can hide themselves until the right time to strike. However they are not an assassin, and the only benefit they gain from such plain attire is that it is nigh on impossible to locate them in a crowded space.
"I tend to dress myself dependent on the occasion. Royal company requires royal attire - silks, rich fabrics, golden clasps and cuffs. Some would say that having six limbs would make things complicated, but then they just need to find a better tailor. More often, I tend to remain in my armor and wrappings, it allows ease of movement while the more delicate parts of my hide are shielded. Ailbe tells me they find it distracting. I tell them they shouldn't stare at my upper torso if they don't wish to be distracted.
"I believe if they had access to my wardrobe, they would be able to put together a suitable outfit for my purposes. I wouldn't run the risk of appearing overly garish, and they have a good understanding of small accessories and the benefit of hidden armor. But the stars only know they would struggle with wing-defined pieces of attire. It's not my fault they only have to deal with fastenings on one section of their bodice as opposed to three." - Obitus (platonic)

Clopton Hall (1840) by Elizabeth Gaskell
This is the first of a series of posts containing Gothic tales by Elizabeth Gaskell (1810-1865) because she's underrated, and mostly known by her naturalistic novels, and also because... October.
"I wonder if you know Clopton Hall, about a mile from Stratford-on-Avon. Will you allow me to tell you of a very happy day I once spent there? I was at school in the neighbourhood, and one of my schoolfellows was the daughter of a Mr. W --, who then lived at Clopton. Mrs. W -- asked a party of the girls to go and spend a long afternoon, and we set off one beautiful autumn day, full of delight and wonder respecting the place we were going to see. We passed through desolate half-cultivated fields, till we came within sight of the house - a large, heavy, compact, square brick building, of that deep, dead red almost approaching to purple. In front was a large formal court, with the massy pillars surmounted with two grim monsters; but the walls of the court were broken down, and the grass grew as rank and wild within the enclosure as in the raised avenue walk down which we had come. The flowers were tangled with nettles, and it was only as we approached the house that we saw the single yellow rose and the Austrian briar trained into something like order round the deep-set diamond-paned windows. We trooped into the hall, with its tesselated marble floor, hung round with strange portraits of people who had been in their graves two hundred years at least; yet the colours were so fresh, and in some instances they were so life-like, that looking merely at the faces, I almost fancied the originals might be sitting in the parlour beyond. More completely to carry us back, as it were, to the days of the civil wars, there was a sort of military map hung up, well finished with pen and ink, shewing the stations of the respective armies, and with old-fashioned writing beneath, the names of the principal towns, setting forth the strength of the garrison, etc. In this hall we were met by our kind hostess, and told we might ramble where we liked, in the house or out of the house, taking care to be in the 'recessed parlour' by tea-time.
I preferred to wander up the wide shelving oak staircase, with its massy balustrade all crumbling and worm-eaten. The family then residing at the hall did not occupy one-half - no, not one-third of the rooms; and the old-fashioned furniture was undisturbed in the greater part of them. In one of the bed-rooms (said to be haunted), and which, with its close pent-up atmosphere and the long-shadows of evening creeping on, gave me an 'eirie' feeling, hung a portrait so singularly beautiful! a sweet-looking girl, with paly gold hair combed back from her forehead and falling in wavy ringlets on her neck, and with eyes that 'looked like violets filled with dew,' for there was the glittering of unshed tears before their deep dark blue - and that was the likeness of Charlotte Clopton, about whom there was so fearful a legend told at Stratford church. In the time of some epidemic, the sweating-sickness or the plague, this young girl had sickened, and to all appearance died. She was buried with fearful haste in the vaults of Clopton chapel, attached to Stratford church, but the sickness was not stayed. In a few days another of the Cloptons died, and him they bore to the ancestral vault; but as they descended the gloomy stairs, they saw by the torchlight, Charlotte Clopton in her grave-clothes leaning against the wall; and when they looked nearer, she was indeed dead, but not before, in the agonies of despair and hunger, she had bitten a piece from her white round shoulder! Of course, she had walked ever since. This was 'Charlotte's chamber,' and beyond Charlotte's chamber was a state-chamber carpeted with the dust of many years, and darkened by the creepers which had covered up the windows, and even forced themselves in luxuriant daring through the broken panes. Beyond, again, there was an old Catholic chapel, with a chaplain's room, which had been walled up and forgotten till within the last few years. I went in on my hands and knees, for the entrance was very low. I recollect little in the chapel; but in the chaplain's room were old, and I should think rare, editions of many books, mostly folios. A large yellow-paper copy of Dryden's 'All for Love, or the World Well Lost,' date 1686, caught my eye, and is the only one I particularly remember. Every here and there, as I wandered, I came upon a fresh branch of a staircase, and so numerous were the crooked, half-lighted passages, that I wondered if I could find my way back again. There was a curious carved old chest in one of these passages, and with girlish curiosity I tried to open it; but the lid was too heavy, till I persuaded one of my companions to help me, and when it was opened, what do you think we saw? - BONES! - but whether human, whether the remains of the lost bride, we did not stay to see, but ran off in partly feigned, and partly real terror.
"The last of these deserted rooms that I remember, the last, the most deserted, and the saddest, was the Nursery, - a nursery without children, without singing voices, without merry chiming footsteps! A nursery hung round with its once inhabitants, bold, gallant boys, and fair, arch-looking girls, and one or two nurses with round, fat babies in their arms. Who were they all? What was their lot in life? Sunshine, or storm? or had they been 'loved by the gods, and died young?' The very echoes knew not. Behind the house, in a hollow now wild, damp, and overgrown with elder-bushes, was a well called Margaret's Well, for there had a maiden of the house of that name drowned herself.
"I tried to obtain any information I could as to the family of Clopton of Clopton. They had been decaying ever since the civil wars; had for a generation or two been unable to live in the old house of their fathers, but had toiled in London, or abroad, for a livelihood; and the last of the old family, a bachelor, eccentric, miserly, old, and of most filthy habits, if report said true, had died at Clopton Hall but a few months before, a sort of boarder in Mr. W --'s family. He was buried in the gorgeous chapel of the Cloptons in Stratford church, where you see the banners waving, and the armour hung over one or two splendid monuments. Mr. W -- had been the old man's solicitor, and completely in his confidence, and to him he left the estate, encumbered and in bad condition. A year or two afterwards, the heir-at-law, a very distant relation living in Ireland, claimed and obtained the estate, on the plea of undue influence, if not of forgery, on Mr. W --'s part; and the last I heard of our kind entertainers on that day, was that they were outlawed, and living at Brussels.

14th of Second Seeds, Loredas
We had a fairly subdued celebration for Sildras’s nameday this year. I had already provided him his main gift, his visit to Artaeum, so I had only some smaller things for him. Mostly some new articles of clothing, a proper staff for his focusing, and a set of tools for working with his soul gems. Honestly I am not entirely sure the nature of the tools and the work he does since it is not something I have ever been exposed to, but he was very eager to have them to advance his studies and I was hardly going to deny him that opportunity.
Avon was a bit more pleasant, perhaps simply to prevent the day from being sullied by his personal feelings. We had household activities as we normally would, perhaps since Sildras was home for the day, per approved request, and conversation was nearly normal.
The whole household was a buzz of activity since the night before and so it was nice to have something akin to normalicy.
Breakfast was at our home, with Mother and Father, uncle Urnel, and aunt Vivyne’s and her whole family in attendance. It was customary for such occasions to do so. Aunt Vivyne and her side of the family always sneer jealously at the things they believe that they are owed but do not have. Of course, they spend most of their time attempting to make others feel a lack of whatever it is that they do have, so we had to put up with a great number of comments about how it must be nice that I care so little to match current fashion of having two sets of drapes per window, or how it was nice to see that I was committed to the House ideals of not spending lavishly given the state of my parlor.
Mother is the one most bothered by the comments, but she is bound not to speak up against it because she is younger and must fulfill her duties as a younger sibling not to speak out harshly against an elder sibling. Uncle Urnel has a bit more room for such things, given his promotion to Grandmaster, but he decided not to speak out against his older sister either.
In order to try and salvage the joy that was my son’s nameday, I suggested that any talented mer that should like to grace us with their gifts to liven up the celebration was more than welcome to do. Immediately aunt Vivyne was having my cousins line up to proudly share their mediocrity with the family.
Now, typically, I do not participate with such displays. I do not like to stoke the fires of that side of the family’s ire. But Sildras asked if I could play one of his favorite songs from his time with Qau-dar’s clan, and who was I to deny my son anything on his nameday?
So I had my qanun and my song book retrieved and asked what of the many songs he would like played. Of course, I had assumed it would be one of the histories that he always enjoyed. So I was surprised when he requested something less overtly historical and I played for him Song of Alkosh’s Champion.
When I finished there was a hush over the room. I had to stand up to get anyone to move. And I noticed that aunt Vivyne and her children were still quiet as uncle Urnel gave a polite clap and a compliment, which was followed in suit by Father and Mother’s approving nod. And the atmosphere was more calm and positive without the snide comments. I am not sure what exactly it was about the performance that made them so quiet, but if that is all it takes, then I am happy to continue to do so in future.
Overall the meal was a happy occasion. There was a point, however, where Sildras seemed to be overcome with melancholy. I asked him if there was anything wrong and he gave a noncommittal shrug.
I stooped down and looked him in the eye and told him that if he told me I could try and make it right.
He sighed heavily, looked at the floor, and said that he had hoped that maybe his mother would have stopped by, or sent word, or even just left something for him.
That... that stung. To know that despite everything he still desired a connection with Urtisa. Worse still, knowing that there was no way for her to do any of it, even if she had not been a kagouti-faced manipulator. She would have easily killed him if it served her purpose. And yet, she was still his mother. And I have taken that away from him. I have not even asked what all Nabine did with the full set of the remains. What she did not consume or turn into tools was disposed of in a method I did not make any attempt to know. And it is probably for the best.
I tried to comfort Sildras as best as I could, but there is little to say about a criminal of her type who has already been executed. And how do I rectify it? How do I make it right? I just do not believe that there is any way to do so.
Instead I tried to distract him. We had his nameday blessing at the Temple. Mother Morrowind herself performing the right, as is customary. Next year will be the last year that he will receive such an honor for another three years. After the twelfth year, it is customary only to receive such blessings every three years until beginning apprenticeship, usually around fifteen to eighteen years of age. Then it is only for the major birthdays that such blessings are done, 27, 33,36, 39, 63, 66, 69, 81, 93, 96, 99. Then they just become less and less frequent. But Sildras has a while yet for many of those. Once he reaches twelve, he will be considered to be out of the immediate danger of childhood mortality. Nearly any mer that makes it to twelve, baring war or disease or assassination, survives to adulthood.
After the ceremony was the customary large banquet and dancing. All the usual things one expects for a social event.
Yet even with it being an occasion to celebrate my son, many Councilmer felt it prudent to introduce me to various family members of theirs. All of them eligible young women. And I was pressured, by Mother’s hard gaze, if nothing else, to grant each of these women a dance and a short exchange of small talk.
I kept things pleasant, but made excuses as the host if things lingered too long. I did not wish to seem overly interested, nor disinterested. The less I give away the better. I just know the Council is planning something and I want to take as few risks as possible.
When the night drew to a close, I allowed Sildras to stay up as long as he liked and we made a fire in the chiminea and watched the stars for a while. We sang songs. And then Avon brought out a grand cake made of mixed Argonian fruits and ground nuts. It was spicy and sweet and unlike anything I had tried before. It was a tad sweeter than I typically enjoy, but the spiciness, perhaps from mace or cinnamon, made it unique and delicious. Sildras was so overjoyed and he actually made a trip down to the kitchens and gave all the cooking staff big hugs and thanked all of them for something so tasty.
I am so proud that Sildras can be so gracious in the face of all his privilege. Avon is doing something right to keep him cognizant of the fact that those that serve in the house are people just like him, even if they come from different circumstances. I hope it is something he continues to foster. I want to do my best to encourage it. I just hope I can succeed.
After tucking Sildras into bed, I found that my room was empty and Avon had taken to a separate room. I thought to knock, to see if we could talk, but if he was that upset with me, perhaps he needed time. I did not want to aggravate him further, so I just went back to my room.
The House is asking for more supplies and money for the war effort. I am planning to work on healing potions and poisons for our soldiers. I need to do something physical to keep my mind off of everything that has happened and it seems the most productive way so far I can think of.

While after ten is a bit vague for "Lacie's" tastes, she acquiesces. Fashionably late, she has strolled to the back door of this the brothers' Quaint Little Hovel, dressed immaculately and primly.
[ TEXT: G. ] Knock, knock, Avon Calling. 😘
Her manicured hands hold a lidded tray, the tray holds a skull, the lid a pink and glittery journal, and the skull holds a beautifully fruiting array of pearlescent white mushrooms. She hums to herself, tucking a gold curl behind her ear and adjusting her clothes as she waits.
Footsteps, faint and soft, so much so she might have missed them were she not on high alert, approach the door and she straightens, shoulders back and posture picture perfect.
When the door finally opens, she flashes a dazzling smile, tipping her chin coyly. She doesn't speak, however, simply holding his gaze and waiting for him to invite her in.
The tray is offered in lieu of words, though the meaning is clear: Invite me in, now.
The whole act is cute, in a contrived, reformed Karen welcoming the new neighbors sort of fashion. Gaara moves back to allow her entry, and locks, double-locks, then deadbolts the back door behind her. They step immediately into a claustrophobic box of a landing. A nondescript staircase leads up to a closed door. He ushers her instead to the one on their left, whose sagging frame groans open under the full weight of his shoulder.
Where its exterior offered only the discretion of the average urban rowhome - a squat brick two-story bracketed by a sidewalk bursting with weeds in every crack - Kankuro's workshop boasted a bizarre mix between the laboratory of a mad scientist and a world-class medical facility: Narrow shelves packed with glass bottles of all sizes and colors suspended above pristine stainless steel tables; beakers and metal tools of dubious purpose organized neatly in front of windows blacked out with paint.
Kankuro is nowhere to be found.
Gaara had been holding the skull-mushroom offering awkwardly, and he places it, now, on one of the tables. He rounds and faces her before either can venture too far into the lab; this has the effect of a kindergarten teacher corralling her students in front of a classroom door. He speaks, then, for the first time.
"I understand you have something to show me."

Jenna's costumes, rated
By actual popular demand (of at least one person), here are my thoughts on Jenna's Blake's 7 costumes, from the sublime to the very, very 70s.
Screengrabs from here (they prefer their images copied, not linked) and record of what Jenna wears when from here. And if you want more Blake's 7 costume snark (mixed with some love), here are Avon and Servalan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As seen in The Way Back, Space Fall and Cygnus Alpha.
Not many decent screengrabs of this one, which is a pity since it's one of my favourite early Jenna costumes. It's delicate and pretty at a point when all the other characters are wearing something rough and practical, which helps to sell the idea that Jenna the smuggler was a cut above the ordinary criminals she's locked up with. I would wear this. 8/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Cygnus Alpha, Time Squad, Seek-Locate-Destroy and Breakdown.
Well, the pretty costume was nice while it lasted. The pattern Jenna is wearing here is one I would associate primarily with ironing boards or perhaps baby-led weaning. It has a wipe-clean air to it. The collar adds to the overall playschool vibe. 0/10, I hate it.
Tumblr media
As seen in The Web and Mission to Destiny.
Something I don't understand is why most of the costumes on Blake's 7 are beautifully constructed (look at anything Servalan wears) and then there's this. It's an unremarkable red dress with random bits stuck to it. The weird collar bits, made from leftover fabric from Jenna's previous weird collar, look like they would come off if you tugged on them, or chanced this in a hot wash. 4/10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As seen in Duel, Project Avalon and Deliverance.
Matching outfits!! I'm torn, Jenna is very much losing the cool smuggler vibe at this point in favour of being the Designated Girl, and the fact that she gets the pink power ranger costume doesn't help with that impression. On the other hand, this is a gorgeous piece of costume design: plausible, flattering, well-constructed. Jenna, Blake and Gan are all looking great here. So, reluctantly, I have to approve. 8/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Duel, Project Avalon, Project Avalon, Bounty and Deliverance.
There are a few clothing trends I've never quite understood. Jumper dresses with cutouts. Peep toe boots. Cold shoulder tops. The clue is in the name; I don't understand the circumstances under which you would want to wear what is otherwise a warm and cosy item of clothing that randomly leaves some part of you to freeze. I would otherwise like this fun, futuristic space-y top, but all I can think of when I look at it is this: aren't her arms getting cold? 6/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Orac.
Simple, classic, flattering. The belt echoes her favourite necklace! I really like this, so of course Jenna only wears it for one episode. 9/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Hostage and Redemption.
Ack, I should like this one. We're getting a lovely sense of Grim Future fashion trends here in the repetition of batwing sleeves and belted tunics. She looks comfortable and sophisticated. Stylish Smuggler Jenna is back! The problem is that she looks like a pearly queen and I just can't get past it. 7/10.
Also, if I might be permitted to digress: what the ever-loving fuck is Cally wearing?
Tumblr media
As seen in Shadow.
It says something about how Blake's 7 treated its female cast that I couldn't find a screenshot of this costume where Jenna was the focus of the frame. And it's such a pity because I really like this. It has all the same things going on as the pearly queen outfit minus the pearly queen-ness. 9/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Weapon, Pressure Point and Countdown.
I think I might have been watching too much of Rosamund Pike in the Wheel of Time, because I love this costume. I admit that the vibes are all wrong: this is a dress for an aristocratic sorceress, not a floaty tunic for a high-class smuggler, but I simply don't care, it looks fabulous. 15/10, fight me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As seen in Horizon and Pressure Point (pink) and in Killer (blue).
It's February 1979, Abba are at number 2 in the UK singles chart with Chiquitita, and don't we know it from Jenna's costume choices. Jenna's outfits are that bit too much of their time for me to love them (and the contrast with Blake's Robin Hood chic isn't helping), but there's definitely an extra point here for her silver boots. 7/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in Trial, Voice From the Past, The Keeper and Star One.
It's time for the biker leathers and for Jenna to wear a different necklace! Amazing that it's taken her this long to get on board with the leather trend that Avon was on since Time Squad. She must have squeaked her way across the Liberator in this but she makes it look so cool. 10/10, glad she got so much use of this one.
Tumblr media
As seen in Gambit.
This is a poor imitation of the blue sorceress dress, unfortunately. Deep colours look great on Jenna but black is too severe. Should have given this costume to Servalan instead. 5/10.
Tumblr media
As seen in The Keeper.
And we end with another red dress with bits stuck to it, except that Jenna, by now very much being treated as eye candy, has a lot more cleavage on display. But instead my eye is drawn to the Art Deco fish pattern she seems to be wearing like a sporran. Blake's 7 costume design: never knowingly unbaffling. 6/10.
