The Aztec Calendar Stone, better known in the archaeological literature as the Aztec Sun Stone is an enormous solidified lava disk covered with hieroglyphs of calendar signs and other images referring to the Aztec mythology.

The interpretations about the function and meaning of the stone are various, of course, the stone is not a functioning calendar but most likely a ceremonial container or altar linked to the Aztec sun god.

It weights more than 21 tons, the stone is around three feet thick and measures almost 12 feet across.
