BAMF Rise Mikey is canon and I will prove it

Yes, it's all "he lifts a cargo ship" this, "he launches a whole building" that, and sure, it says a lot about just what he is capable of, but he does so with his usual humor and joyfulness.

What I mean here is that there are times even he stops playing around. Case in point: the season 2 finale.

When the fam gets to the Crying Titan, this is what they see:

And this is how they enter the scene:

This is a very cool moment in the show, with heroic music and witty lines, and the gang seems pumped up for the fight ahead. Raph is smiling confidently, Leo is smug, April rocks, Donnie puts up his unavailable bad boy image.

Mikey, though. We don't often see that look on his face. My boy is MURDEROUS.

Even as they strike their badass hero pose, he's uncharacteristically frowning, without a hint of a grin:

Which perhaps shouldn't be surprising at all. The Shredder is harming both his dads, after all. And we know how much they matter to him specifically.

Conclusion: don't mess with what's really important to Mikey.

You won't like that side of him.

I want to make angst for 1987 Mikey fanfic wise but I can't think of any good moments in the show that would work other than Maybe the ep were he has to seduce a plant into liking him which makes him uncomfy. Do you have any suggestions from the show I could use that you remember?

What about the episode "What's Michelangelo Good For?"? It's literally an episode that focuses on his usefulness to the team.

Ages ago, a friend here and I collaborated on a bunch of fun 1987 mini fics on Tumblr, and you can find them if you look for tags like "empath Mikey" and Mikey is a bamf" and the 1987 tag. I can see about just finding them all in a collection.

What with our creepy new anon stalker sending death threats over how we explore canon moments like the Lead Pipe Incident, the Grudge Match teasing, etc etc, I'm going to be slightly cautious about this. Other authors don't need the grief.

Whumptober day 19: Enough is Enough

And coming back around my fixations list. We have some more turtle* (*not so) angst. }:) Mikey is both Bamf and a little dark at one point? But youngest siblings can be pretty unhinged at times so… 

Mikey comes from a pretty big family. It's not a conventional family by any means, but a family nonetheless. And being the youngest could have its advantages, sure, but there were also the downsides that made him want to tear his hair out and scream at the top of his lungs. 

He loved his family, he would do anything for his family, and they didn't seem to understand that he could. That he wasn't some baby who couldn't handle himself, that he had natural talent, and good ideas and a great potential, but he was never really given the chance to prove it. So, when it just caused discontent, he stopped trying so hard. 

But now, his family was in danger. And he could be thankful that he was underestimated, because it gave him the chances he needed. People didn't seem to see that this family was full of protectors, and he was part of it. But he'd get to show them, he'd make them pay for what they'd done. And they would learn, they would learn not to cross Michaelangelo Hamato.

Mikey supposed you could say this is all his fault, And even if somehow it wasnt, he'd get blamed anyway he's sure. Really it probably was his fault, with their father and the others on a training/information gathering trip, it was just the four of them and he should have been on his best guard. 

Instead he was too slow, and before even Raphael could react, they were down. Mikey thinks it may have been their quickest defeat by an enemy, he can only imagine how disappointed Master Splinter will be, if they- no when they- make it out or this. Because these guys, whoever they were, hurt his brothers. 

They'd obviously done their research, Mikey thinks as he watches them. They inject Raph with something, and almost immediately, his eyes roll and head falls forward, out like a light-They obviously know what chemicals work past their enhancements. Taking him out first was smart, because when Raph got angry it was hard to take him down, and what they did next definitely would have angered him. 

Donnie is next, which most would think a weird choice, but Donnie was a plan guy, and Leo relied on him more than people knew. They stick something to the back of his neck, and it must hurt because Donnie jerks before going stiff, then limp. He's not unconscious, but his head lulls this way and that, his eyes fogging over in a way that says 'no one home'. His face is tense though, as if in pain, and Mikey can only assume the device is somehow keeping him from thinking or doing. 

Leo has been thrashing this whole time, obviously angry, angrier than Mikeys used to seeing from his older brother. The fact they are still able to hold him down is astounding, though it could have something to do with the sword at the back of Mikey's neck. But as Mikey said, these guys have done their research, so they do Leo next, because Mikey is the youngest. 

Underestimated and labeled as the weak link, it hurts, but it's to his advantage. 

They inject Leo with- Mikey assumes- the same thing they gave Raph, but while his struggles weaken, they do not cease like Raphs had. Mikey's plan solidifies when they make their next move, none of these guys will be spared from his wrath. Not as they stab Leo. Not as the blade is pulled, covered in his brother's blood, from Leo's side. They inject him again, even though Leo has slumped-breathing harsh- and his brother's eyes close. 

Even as they simply knock Mikey over the head, not caring to take the same precautions, Mikey feels something snap inside him. As darkness encompasses his vision, his brothers’ conditions imprinted on his eyelids, he makes a promise to himself. To make these men pay, and get his brothers to safety. Even if it's the last thing he does.

…

Mikey had taken it upon himself, to learn as much as he could about taking care of people. Donnie had a lot on his shoulders most days, and Mikey wasnt stupid, he could see how the weight made him sag. So he'd subtly inserted the thought into the others' heads, because his family was full of stubborn buttheads, and watched as they'd each come up with a way to help. Raph and Leo started helping in the garage, Casey and April helped in the lab, repairs around their hideout were done together rather than forced on Donnie. And Mikey, Mikey decided being a Medic would be a big help. 

He was grateful for it now, as he used their wrapping to bind Leo's wound as best he could. He needed far more than bandages, but Mikey didn't think they'd be getting that anytime soon. He didn't know what they wanted yet, but with the three they deemed important out of commision, he wondered how they planned to get anything from them.

Unless they wanted to dissect them and see what made them tick, which… made the most sense. Master Splinter had tried to protect them from the world, tried to give them as normal a life as he could. But they were science experiments, practically super soldiers, and it made sense that others would want to use that. Even if they were just kids. 

He sat back, hands and pants bloody, and surveyed his other two brothers. 

They were all in seperate cages, three in a row- Donnie, Leo, Raph- while Mikey's own cage was beside Leos. He'd just barely been able to reach his brother, who'd been awake just long enough to scoot to the bars before he'd passed out again. But he could do nothing for Raph or Donnie. 

Donnie, whose head hangs limp, chin against his chest, before it’d sway lazily one way then the other. Occasionally Mikey would catch a glimpse of his face, when his hair shifted and head turned just so, and that look from before was really only getting worse. His eyebrows knitted, teeth clenched, but eyes dull. 

Raph was still out cold, sprawled on his side and looking pale. He'd twitch sometimes, but hadn't woken up yet. Besides the few bruises and knicks they'd all sustained, he seemed the best shape of the three, even if a bit sickly. 

They wouldn't be much help in an escape, so Mikey had to figure out how to get three limp noodles to safety. Really the only option is to incapacitate everyone in the building so no one can stand in his way. Which he had no problem with, he was looking forward to punching some lights out, to tearing through them all left and right, for stomping on their remains for thinking they could get away with this, for- 

Alright, maybe he needed to chill a little. No use in peeling faces off when his brothers needed medical attention. Mikey was a ninja, they had a code or whatever. And while he would not be holding back on these guys, his main focus needed to be his family. 

The doors across the room open, and Mikey watches their every step- eyes wide and fearful to play up the innocent youngest vibe these guys seemed to see him as. Trying to get a read on their intentions, while ironing out the details of his plan. They stop in front of his cage, which is nice because he couldn't guarantee his control would last much longer if they'd gone after the others. 

"If you quaporate, the others won't be killed now, understand?" Well, this would be easier than he thought. 

A fearful nod, a little trembling, a loving look to his brothers, and these guys are sold. Mikey couldn't wait to see their faces, when he clobbered them.

He knows better than to act out on the first contact. He needs more information before he can initiate anything, he needs to not run in fists first when he couldn't 100% rely on them. 

So he lets them take him the first time. And the second time. Even a third time. But the time he has to act is dwindling each time, so he'll have to use what he's gathered so far, and do his best. 

Because Donnies curled up on his side now, practically grinding his forehead into the ground. Raphs breathing sounds like that dying frog from Ogre the 3rd. And Leo, who'd woken up when he'd returned both the first and second time, didn't even stir the third time, the wrapping around his side red and spreading. 

He sits against the bars, as close to his brothers as he can get, and centers himself like they've been trained. He pushes away all his distractions, prays for strength for his brothers, and prays that he'll get them through this. When the doors open again, he is calm, pain has been pushed aside, and his focus is solely on what he has to do. He knows it won't last forever though, he needed to do this fast.

His hair covers his eyes, he doesn't hear what they say as they open the door, he's focused on the breathing behind him. He's stiller than he's ever been before, stiller than he ever thought possible, he can practically feel the air shifting around the arm reaching for him. 

His eyes open, and he's outside his cage, the two men unconscious- or maybe dead- inside it. He's given little time to think about it, as the doors open and more men- he'd only seen men, he wonders why- enter. The fact they'd been watched this whole time, and still underestimated him, proves they are not as smart as they think.

He moves through the forces with the ease of adrenaline and instinct- and training too of course. Still it's one against a heck of a lot more, and for all their enhancements, they are still mortals, so it's no surprise they land quite a few hits too. But running on pure spite seems to work more than he expected, his brothers' forms behind him reminding him and fueling his actions. 

Revenge wasn't something Master Splinter encouraged, he'd say something about it blackening their hearts and following the same road as Shredder or something he's sure. But Mikey honestly couldn't care less right now. If Splinter wanted to see them again, then Mikey had to do this, besides he'd rather have the blood of enemies on his hands than that of his brothers. Even if it garnered Splinters disapproval. It wouldn't be the first time anyway. 

…

By the time they stop coming through the door, Mikey is exhausted. He waits a moment, to see if there would be any sneak attacks or the likes, but nothing happens, no one moves, so Mikey makes his way- walking backwards- to his brothers cages. 

They were code locked, but Mikey had heard the tones they made when they opened his own, and thankfully they were stupid enough to use the same for all of them. The only problem now was getting three teens out of here. He chews on his lip a moment, eyes flickering from the doors to his brothers. 

"Alright Mikey… you can do this." 

He goes to Donnies first, eying the device then his brother's face. He'd need to be careful, he didn't want to mess with any of the nerves or important things at the base of his skull. It was obvious that it was messing with Donnies functions, so in theory, if he pulled it out it should… stop interfering? Or it could kill his brother, or paralyze him, or make him brain dead forever! Or-

No! Now was not the time for panicking. 

He grips the device between two fingers, sends another prayer to any ancestors listening, and pulls. Donnie yelps and Mikey flinches as his brother does a full body shiver before going completely limp. 

He's killed him. OhgodsMikeykilledhisbrotherhowcouldheohmygodsstrikemedownnow-

Another groan, and Donnies head weakly rolls to look up at him with one eye squinted open. 

"Motren." He croaks out. And Mikey could weep.

"I promise, once we get out of here." 

He helps his brother into a sitting position outside his cage, then takes his arm wrappings to redo Leo's dressings. He can only figure that whatever they injected his brothers with, was hindering their healing capabilities. He hopes it'll flush itself out, cause he doubts he'd find any notes about it lying around. 

He carefully pulls Leo out of his cell to lean against Donnie, then drags Raph- who's feverish and pale- to join them. Leo's eyes open briefly, his hand resting on Raphs forehead before closing once more. Mikey stares at the three before looking around the room for anything useful. Besides a body sled this room is useless. But Donnie, despite his head randomly lolling forward, is at least awake. And while it's not a ninja weapon, it'll have to do for now. 

"Donnie, shoot anyone that's not us okay?" 

He presses a gun from a fallen baddie into his brother's hand, before turning to the doors. He passed a lot of doors when they dragged him around, one of them had to have something useful. 

…

He stares at the brother pile he'd made. Two rolling office chairs taped together, Leo sitting in one, Donnie in the other, with Raph across their laps. It was so, not the best plan, but it was the only one he had. And with the movement he'd heard on his way back, it was the best way to get his brother's mobile while leaving him open to protect them. 

"Alright, let's keep up the not dying thing we've got going, and get the heck out of here."

He drags rather than pushes, putting himself first just in case. Donnie still had a good drip on his gun, had managed not to shoot Mikey when he'd come back, so hopefully he'd shoot anyone still lingering around. If they got past Mikey that is. 

At the very least, he's assuming the rest of the people still trying, have gotten smart enough to know he's a threat. It messes with his element of surprise, but at least he'll have a challenge to focus on with his mind now in ten different places- at the least.

He stops just before a corner, hears the shift of movement, and can only assume this is their final stand. Turning his brothers so the chair backs are against the wall, and Donnie can hopefully have a good enough view to have time to defend, he takes a stuttered breath and slips into the shadows. He doesn't have a stealth weapon, he'll be able to get one shot off before his position is revealed. He had to make it count. 

There aren't very many left, it bugs him that they were able to overtake them at all, that three of his brothers were taken down by a group he’s been able to defeat in less than an hour, and that was after everything they did. Did catching them off guard really allow all of this? Or was Mikey missing something? 

He shoots twice in quick succession, before ducking out of the way and shooting some more. He pants as he stands in the middle of their fallen bodies, hands trembling by his sides,

“Gelo?” 

He must of been quiet for too long, Donnie’s voice shocking him back to his mission. He knows for a fact two of the big guys involved in their capture are missing from the bodies. He needs to get his brothers out of here before they rear their ugly faces, the fight is slowly draining from him, he needed to focus on his brothers, and fixing his mistake. 

He comes around the corner, moving the gun Donnie points at his face, 

“Sorry ‘Tello, lets get out of here.” 

…

He pushes his brothers through alley after alley, not sure if it’s simply the chairs leading him forward or his own will. He also doesn’t know exactly where he’s headed, maybe home, but he can’t be sure. He needs someone with medical knowledge, maybe Leatherhead, or father, but he didn’t know where they were. So he needed supplies instead, Donnie could maybe direct him on what to do if he stayed coherent long enough, he just needed to clean and stitch Leo up, get that stuff out of his and Raph’s systems, and keep an eye on Donnie. He could do that…

Noise above has his heart rate spiking as he pulls to a stop, hair sticking to his sweaty forehead as he looks to the roofs. It’s still, too still, before a shadow moves and Karai is jumping down, her face shows her concern as she pulls her mask down. 

“What happened?” 

“They need help.” His knees buckle, trusting his sister to help now. They would be fine, he could rest now right? Please… let them be fine.

The Glass Pawn Update + (another) Ch. 10 Sneak Peek

Managed to crank out 7,000 words the last two days, and I’m now starting on the final chapter!!

This fic might actually end up with 13 chapters now lol with the last three being on the shorter side between 4-6k words. I wanna finish this last chapter first to solidify how I want to split up the pacing before I officially update the total count, but it’ll probably end up being 13 because editing 8k chapters is tedious af, and Ch 10 is already well over 8k ,:D

All at once, half a dozen chains blazed to life around Mikey. They rocketed away from him in a starburst of orange, and the ends wrapped around whatever they came into contact with first: a tree, a bench, a park railing, a light post. As quickly as they came into existence, the chains fell perfectly still, and so did the rest of the clearing. Though no call had been made, a silent ceasefire seemed to travel through the ranks of the EPF. At the center of it all, Mikey took hold of the chains. Clark saw the small turtle’s chest rise and fall in a deep breath. Then he yanked, and the chains clinked, going taut. At first, nothing happened. Clark heard the agents and soldiers across the clearing begin muttering. However, their voices were soon swallowed by a visceral groaning, cracking, tearing rrrrRRIIIIIP!

I'm still not over The Last Ronin, it has my favorite trope of the funny one breaking and growing cynical, bitter and even vengeful

I love that he changed so much you really can't tell at the beginning who the turtle with the black mask is, it took April saying his name for me to know it was him

I rewatched "Grudge Match" yesterday for the hell of it and god damn, I really forgot how good this episode is (especially knowing it's technically one of the filler episodes.)

Even though Leonardo is still struggling emotionally in the aftermath of Exodus, we see in this episode that beneath all his anger, frustration, and anxiety, his calmer, more gentle side still exists. He could have easily chosen to be wary of or even openly hostile towards the Daimyo's son due to their past conflicts when Ue was still the Ultimate Ninja (something that Ue doesn't even remember due to being revived as an innocent child,) but he not only agrees to be his friend, but is openly protective of him. I need more Leo and child!Ue interactions, k.

Holy fuck, Michelangelo. He spent the majority of this episode desperately trying to get out of his rematch with Kluh and during the first part of the fight, he nearly gets beaten to a pulp. Unfortunately, Kluh's big mistake was to threaten Mikey's family while taunting him over his seemingly inevitable defeat, triggering a recent memory of Leo telling Mikey that in their lives, they only have each other and if one of them falls, they all fall. At that point, Mikey goes completely apeshit on Kluh's ass and by god, it's a treat to watch. At one point, he is wielding one of his nunchaku by his ankle. Like??? Of all the episodes that hammer the point home that Mikey is actually the most naturally talented of his brothers and is formidable in a fight as long as he stays focused, this one does it the best.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / Characters - TV Tropes

Whoever updated Michelangelo's folder is getting glomped by me. I love it. I love that he's always been one of the greatest examples of Characterization Marches On.

Characterization Marches On: Depending on the version, really - in the comic books, he isn't really a party dude, but more of a down-to-Earth type of guy as opposed to his brothers. He was able to author a book at one point.

In the Mirage comics, he often traded back and forth with Donatello as The Smart Guy with Donnie being the expert in science and technology while Mikey's specialty was culture and literature.

Ironically when compared to his later versions, Mikey is also one of the most violent of the group in the Mirage comics. Only Raph (who can border on Ax-Crazy) is worse.

The first live-action film hints at him being the second-most skilled fighter out of the Turtles, right behind Leo.

Cloudcuckoolander: Generally the most whimsical of the Turtles but especially in the 2012 series, where he wanted a tattoo of his face on his own face.

Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: (2003 series): Although he can always kick ass, his skills will occasionally take a bump as the plot requires, allowing him to take on foes that would normally defeat him or his brothers.

TMNT Fandom Issues

I think I've already mentioned this before, but I've been seeing it happen more and more lately, and it's infuriated me enough to make another post about it. Can people please stop dragging other turtles and other 'verses in where they have no relevance?

I was watching some Donnie vids on TikTok and, without fail, almost every video had someone in the comments going, "Oh, but Mikey solos", "Oh, but Leo solos", etc, etc.

No one cares. Genuinely, wholeheartedly, someone making a post showing cool clips of Donnie fighting or being angry, is not inviting a bunch of people to come whining in the comments about how much cooler their fave is.

I see this the most with Mikey fans who refuse to shut up about The Last Ronin or Rise!Mikey and will shove them into everything, even posts that they have absolutely no connection to.

I was mostly watching videos of 12!Donnie, and whenever I looked in the comments, there'd be someone mentioning how one of the other turtles solo. And whenever anyone would be like, "well, Mikey doesn't actually solo', The Last Ronin would be wheeled out as an argument.

The Last Ronin has no bearing on any other iterations. Just because Mikey is the last one standing, and is incredibly strong, in that version does not mean that he's the strongest in every version. If any other turtle was the last one standing, they'd probably end up just as strong as The Last Ronin. Even so, stop drawing Last Ronin into conversations that aren't about him. If I'm discussing 03!Donnie for example, I do not want to hear about how amazing Last Ronin supposedly is. The character and plot do not interest me at all, and every time it's thrust into my view by someone clumsily trying to take attention away from another character or 'verse, it makes me even less inclined to ever give it a go.

And before anyone comes at me with the whole "Mikey has the most potential canonically", I would like to highlight that having the most potential and being the strongest are not the same thing. If he put more effort in, sure, maybe he'd be the strongest in every 'verse. But as it stands, the strongest is usually Raph, and the best fighter is usually Leo and/or Raph. (No, I am not counting Rise!Mikey as the strongest turtle to ever exist because most of his physical strength is reliant on his mystic powers. The Bayverse boys can straight up yeet storage containers with no powers).

Also, just because Donnie is usually one of the weaker fighters (I would argue that he is one of the strongest in 87 and Rise, though Rise weirdly tries to nerf him after the Draxum fight), doesn't mean that he can't keep up with his brothers. He is not weak. They all work with heavy machinery, train daily, and are great with strategy for the most part.

Deliberately going onto posts/vids/fics only to diss the character that they are about and try to shove your own fave down people's throats is not going to win you any friends. It's insufferable. Why don't I start going on any posts about Mikey or Leo and say how dumb they are compared to Donnie? It would be an unfair comparison as Donnie is made to be the smart one, but that's what Leo and Mikey stans keep doing to Donnie content. Donnie isn't meant to be the strongest or the best fighter, which I've accepted, but that doesn't mean he isn't a BAMF in his own right, with some pretty cool fight scenes.

If content does not contain your fave character, do not shoehorn them in, and/or degrade the character it's actually about. It's rude, annoying, and it's part of the reason that certain parts of the fandom (*cough* Rise *cough*), get such a bad reputation. All you are doing is making people hate your favourite characters and series, which means less chance of getting content including them.

Also, Rise!Fans, stop trying to make Mayhem posts about Risem I saw a video saying that the fight scenes in Mayhem are awesome (which they are, the animation I'd beautiful and the flow of the fights scenes is handled incredibly well), and one of the first comments was about how "I've not watched the movie yet, bit I doubt that they can beat the Rise first scenes." Firstly, if you havent watched the movie, shut up. You cant compare something you haven't seen with something that you already watched. Secondly, it is entirely possible to say that the fight scenes in both are great. Here, I'll do out right now, I think every iteration of TMNT have some great fight scenes, and Rise and Mayhem bitj definitely have something beautifully animated and choreographed scenes.

Honestly, the fandom has started making me hate most versions of Mikey on principle because they constantly force incorrect characterisations of him down my throat (he's the strongest/wisest/best at feelings, but he's also a sweet abuse little uwu bean that can do no wrong. He's incredibly smart but also mega innocent. He's amazing at reading people, but he also.just wants to believe the best of everyone. It's all so contradictory, and pretty much none of it ever actually fits Mikey).

It's the same with Rise Leo. Most of the fandom seems to make him into someone he's not, siphoning personality traits from other characters and iterations (like making him team medic, making him the one that likes to dance and sing, or the one that gets on my nerves the most, making him as smart as Donnie. That isn't his role, and none of the turtles are ever as smart as Donnie. Don't even try and fight me on that. Leos may be more strategic, but in outright booksmart intelligence, every Donnie takes the cake).

I feel like I'm probably going to get a lot of complaints about this seeing how popular Mikey and Rise!Leo are, but I am just so sick of trying to enjoy content for Donnie when every other comment section is being flooded by people dragging him to try and make their fave appear superior. If you want to gush about Mikey or Leo, go to content made about them where your input will be appreciated, rather than deliberately pissing other people off.

"Leonardo Da Hamato!" I shouted from the living room. A clang sounded from the kitchen, followed by a fearful, "Yea?"

"Oo, Leo's in trouble." Mikey teased him as he emerged warily.

"What's up, Y/N?" Leo tilted his head as he walked closer to the couch I was on. "Come here."

He walked closer, suspicious. I made grabby hands at him and Leo held up his arms, now standing in front of me. "I haven't gotten a Leo hug in too long," I said simply, rising to my feet and grabbing his arms in a hug.

Leo paused before wrapping his hands around my back. "Geez, Y/N, you gave me a heart attack hollering like that." I chuckled into his plastron. "'s funny."

A few moments passed in silence, before- "Better than Raph's?"

I scoffed, before replying, "Different. Definitely number four on the list of things you're amazing at." I felt Leo's breath stutter in his chest at that before continuing. "Yea, you're great at hugs, but you're also hilarious, and charming, and a fucking badass in battles."

I pulled away long enough to glance at his face, which was gloriously flushed. "I could keep going?"

"No- no- no, um, I- uh, I already knew that," he stuttered, burying his face in my shoulder.

Should I be evil? Yes, obviously, me, duh. "I don't think you do, Blue," I began, slowly drumming my fingers on his shell. I smiled as he audibly gulped. He didn't need to know that I looked up red-eared slider facts, and learned that sliders flutter their fingers on other sliders as a sign of affection.

"Anyway, yea, you know, you're a crazy BAMF, and your jokes really light up the lair, and your sense of style is ON FLEEK," I intoned, getting a slightly wet chuckle in response.

"Plus, your leadership skills are getting really good. I smirked at him. "Shall I continue?"

He looked up slightly, glaring at me with the ferocity of a kitten. "Screw you," he mumbled, pillow muffling the words a bit.

"I'll take that as a yes-"

Leo whined loudly from the pillow, curling up even more around the pillow.

"Yea, you're just really cool, and when you wield your ōdachi you just look so surreal. It's amazing-" I was cut off with a pillow thrown at my face. I tossed it back laughing, but Leo dodged, pouting from the pillow he was hiding behind.

"Shame on you. Where'd all this confidence come from?"

"Oh darling, you don't understand. I have very little shame to begin with," I put on a posh English accent. It worked, Leo's eyes crinkling, though the smile was still hidden behind the pillow. I snapped my fingers. "Confidence! Confidence looks amazing on you as well!"

Leo groaned and dove back into the pillow. I could see the blush spreading past his cheeks. Mission success. As much as I enjoyed it, Mikey was probably finishing up with dinner.

Leo looked up again. "Y/N, why-"

"Because, Blue. You deserve the world. You all do, equally. Especially you, Leo. And I love you guys. I wanna make sure you know that, Leo. I-" I dropped my voice, locking eyes with him. "I know you have nightmares. You've been through a lot, and you've decided to and been forced to shoulder a lot. So if you even need to be reminded, you just have to ask."

Leo's eyes had widened, and were now searching mine for any, any signs of deception. I knew he would find none, and I smiled gently. His bottom lip trembled before tears began streaming down his face. The turtle looked down quickly, unable to maintain eye contact, but I didn't mind.

"Come 'ere, Baby Blue," I murmured softly, scooting closer. The sobs grew louder at the name as he clung to my shirt. I held him until they quieted with his grip softening.

"'s ok, Leo. It's ok to be vulnerable. I'm honored to be entrusted with that right now. I'd be honored to be someone, if not the one, you come to to get something off your chest. If not, that's fine. Emotions should never be a burden for one, Blue," I said softly, fluttering my fingers on the edge of his shell again as though it would drill it in. A few more minutes of silence passed as the shakiness in each of Leo's breaths disappeared. The turtle shifted and looked up at me again. "There's the Baby Blue," I cooed, cupping his face and fluttering my fingers. The blush dusting his face darkened again, and Leo looked away. "'m too tired for another breakdown," he yawned, pulling away to sit up. I chuckled.

"Mikey's probably close to being done with dinner," I said, standing. Leo followed slowly, but I stopped him. "I can and will keep reminding you. You deserve the world, champ," I added softly, poking him between the eyes. He looked down, embarrassed, and I grabbed his hand to lead him to the kitchen.

He paused at the entrance, and Mikey and I looked up at him. "I gotta- go to the bathroom!" he said loudly, before quickly walking off. "Don't fall in!" I hollered with a grin.

"Wouldn't dream of it!"

Mikey looked between the empty entrance and the spot I'd taken up. "SO... what was that?"

I shook my head slightly, smiling. "Just reminding Leo of his worth."

This whole thing got way out of hand and overdeveloped into a full blown brainrot and I blame @grayvineyard for indulging me (who made LOVELY art for this au <3)

Bear with me, set roughly in the 1st/2nd gen of pokemon so Kanto/Johto except for the pokedex, there's a mix of those just because. Technically thought out for geetrick with a side of petekey in mind, but also a shit ton of gen.

Here are the basic foundations:

-> pokemon teams

Gerard's champion team: Espeon, Typhlosion, Nidoqueen, Parasect, Mismagius and Salamence

- His Espeon is blind due to a surprise ambush kinda critical hit by a venom type back in his teens.

- Lots of rumors ensued from this, but they don't like talking about it.

- She guides herself by psychic waves/a psychic mental map and through both the mental bond with her teammates and Gee.

Patrick's: Ninetails, Togekiss, Staraptor (uncanny resemblance to Pete...), Venusaur, Ursaring, Luxray

- Although his team overall seems big and scary they are all sweethearts, extreamely nice

- Meanwhile he's small and snarky, the meanest out of them all

- Ninetails has an attitude problem. she's a princess and she expects to be treated as such (it's Patrick's fault really from spoiling her rotten when she was a little vulpix)

Mikey's: Jolteon, Arcanine, Ampharos, Milotic, Butterfree, Xatu

Pete's: Ambipom, Gliscor, Gengar, Sunflora, Honchkrow (uncanny resemblance to Patrick...), Coralina

Ray's: Magby, Houndoom, Charizard, Victini, Chandelure, Clefable

- it's a mystery how he found Victini, he refuses to explain, just showed up with them one day and that was that

- very smug about it when he uses them in battle (unofficial ones only, the league doesn't allow them in his elite team)

- bane of Gerard's existence how Ray babies them around (Victini enjoys this very much, he gets extratreats and hangs on his shoulder/head), like cmon, that's a fucking legendary!

- hatched Magby from the egg himself, and he turned out to be a crazy kid, running around without looking twice, there's always gotta be at least one grown human or pokemon supervising him at all times

- his Clefable doesn’t seem to fit but is the secret trick, knowing fire blast as well as solar beam and water pulse.

Professor Way moving into town (Pallet i guess?) with Mikey

She's... Not the best at parenting

cue him journeying through Kanto with Pete and Patrick (suppose they are around 17ish during that as an start point)

Pete as the high-spirited, optimistic trainer who sees the good in everything and fully beliefs in the power of friendship to rise over any challenge coming into his path. Strong trainer, makes friends with everyone, extreamely focused on the experiences the adventure brings, half assedly aims to become pokemon master. (kinda ethan/gold vibes ngl)

Patrick as the other side of the coin, not completely opposite, but a stark contrast to him, where Pete is ambitious in his journey, challenging gyms and aiming for the league, Patrick isn't too sure about his path, is critical of the battling business and more theoretical/book strategic when approaching a challenge. Doesn't mean he has a worse bond with his pokemon. Uncanny, natural gift at battling tho, but honestly doesn't think twice of it ("what like it's hard?"). Lowkey on a midlife crisis at 18 going from trainer to breeder (pokemon daycare worker?) to researcher, boy does not know what he's doing. But it's fine. Mostly.

Mikey's the kid that looks too cool to be a nerd and simultaneously seems like too much of a nerd to be as cool as he is. Has their only braincell for most of the time. Doesn't give a fuck, only he knows what his plan in life is, does he challenge the gyms? does he plan to go into research under his mom? he just vibes. BAMF, keeps the other two out if trouble more often than not. Lowkey mommy issues

Gerard as reigning champion, child prodigy, went on his journey with Ray at 13ish, crowned at 14, practically a legend. Extreamely extravagant, drama queen all around. Lots of rumours about him AND his blind Espeon. Honestly overworked, plus mommy issues (my emotional punching bag <3). A mountain hermit that thinks living on top of a freezing mountain is better than doubling down to the unsurpassable merit of peaking as a preteen. Deep down a sweetheart with a passion for pokemon and training.

Ray takes it easier, one of the elite four, fire type trainer. Local sunshiney, polite guy who Knows What He's Doing. Actually a badass who is tired of everyone's shit. Mostly holds the last braincell he and Gerard have left. Perchant for petting every fire type he encounters no matter how big or dangerous.

Ray and Gerard took out Team Rocket when they were teens, with them now being around 21.

Professor Way centers/ed her investigations on legendary pokemons, devoting most of her time and attention to it. Gerard would try to help out, not really successfully, and eventually developed a weird relationship with them as a concept, slightly obsessed, slightly frustrated, an underlying splinter still dug inside him.

When the Ways were kids there were a bunch of Eevees in the lab for research purposes or whatever. They always played with them and eventually kept one each.

Pete’s jacket’s fluff is made of mareep wool which, paired with his penchant for hugging Mikey’s and Patrick’s electric types, means his always charged with static energy and he’s a nightmare to be physically close to

Mikey Pete and Patrick are little shits and they lure Gee’s pokemon with too many berries

Like Patrick quickly becomes their fave bc of all the treats and how little he gives a fuck about Gerard’s stubborness

Specially after Gee runs off to Mt. Silver for a while and he’s the one who has to periodically hike up to make sure the idiot’s still alive

(He’s fine btw, it was never that serious)

Yeah, I think that’s it for now but it’s ever growing…
