MAN, MANKIND, HUMANITY -- THE ENDANGERED SPECIES IN THE YEAR 3000.
NOTE: Visually, it's just a tad bit derivative of the "John Carter" books, but still a very impressive piece nonetheless.
OVERVIEW: "In 1982, L. Ron Hubbard commissioned artist Frank Frazetta to capture the spirit of "Battlefield Earth" on canvas. Frazetta’s painting, depicting the epic struggle between the human and alien races, now graces the cover of the latest edition of the bestselling science fiction novel."
-- GALAXY PRESS (Publisher of the fiction works of L. Ron Hubbard)
In memoriam -- Frank Frazetta (February 9, 1928 – May 10, 2010), another legend lost. HAIL!!

[Bill Moyers excerpted from “Battlefield Earth”] “On the heath Lear asks Gloucester: "How do you see the world?” And Gloucester, who is blind, answers: “I see it feelingly.’” I see it feelingly. The news is not good these days. I can tell you, though, that as a journalist I know the news is never the end of the story. The news can be the truth that sets us free – not only to feel but to fight for the future we want. And the will to fight is the antidote to despair, the cure for cynicism, and the answer to those faces looking back at me from those photographs on my desk. What we need to match the science of human health is what the ancient Israelites called “hochma” – the science of the heart … the capacity to see … to feel … and then to act … as if the future depended on you. Believe me, it does. Bill Moyers Hochma - I See It Feelingly | Alive On All Channels ALLCHANNELS.BLOGSPOT.COM

I finally saw Battlefield Earth.
Considering my below-ground expectations, I actually enjoyed watching it. If you toss aside the fact it's based on L. Ron Hubbard's novel that serves as a blueprint for the foundation of Scientology, you can have fun watching such a garbage movie. Because it is badly done, yes. But taken at face value, they're two entertaining hours. That's it. I only saw it for Barry Pepper and it served its purpose. Written off the list, I can move on to the next one.

First time watching Battlefield Earth. I thought this was a sci-fi film. Is this a movie inside a movie or are they boutta pull the "ooh, it's actually post-modern medieval".
Okay it's gotta be a movie in a movie this is so schlock and everything is moving in supersonic speed.
I was right? Gross.
He made new friends? Enemies? All I know is the exposition is expositioning.
I kinda like the "they looked at the gods so they were turned to stone". That'd be cool if it were for real.
You know that one famous review, where they said he uses Dutch angles without knowing how they work? I didn't realize how true that was.
Okay so gimli and aragorn are dead and everything is green now.
Wait they're back??? Are they reusing actors?? He got shot in the heart??
Nose breathing device finally something I recognize.
I don't even know how to write what's happening. Why do they look like that. Who just died. Why are they having drinks. WHAT IS THE PROTAGONIST'S FUCKING NAME THEY HAVEN'T EVEN INTRODUCED HIM.
I quit. I thought it would be fun to do one of those play-by-plays but I think if I keep watching I'm gonna start bleeding out every orifice in my face. I'm, what, >20 minutes into it. No "movie" has ever made me quit this fast. In short, bro loses his dad, leaves to save the village all in like 30 seconds, he meets other travelers, fights them, befriends them, learns exposition, and yet all I can tell you is I think he's blonde.

so i decided to check out the fallout tv show this morning, and surprisingly i'm really enjoying it!
but...
my only complaint so far is that all the fight sequences with the brotherhood knight where they cut from an action shot-to his face-back to a different action shot are giving me uncontrollable motion sickness. the cinematography reminds me A LOT of Battlefield Earth, a film that famously has made me throw up.
has anyone else also experienced this, or am i just being a whiney pissbaby?

My brother was just flipping channels as I was cleaning up the kitchen, and in a flash I spotted John Travolta with a massive wig and a dark flamboyant outfit: Battlefield Earth was on Sony Channel. I actually screamed a bit and begged my brother to turn it back since I wanted to see Barry. My goodness, the movie looks like a giant mess. Am I still seeing it soon enough? Absolutely. The things we do for our favorites.
