This is probably gonna be the last time I talk about this bc all it really does is make me sad and it's not the kind of thing I want to focus on abt BG3, but whenever the larian writers say some out-of-pocket shit about Wyll or Gale I'm reminded of this

its always surreal to me to see people praise s2 of centaurworld. s2 was so spectacularly bombastic and aimless and it ended in this awkward forgettable fizzle.
i feel like a dick saying it b/c i really do love the show lmao. or, at least half of it lmao (/stares at tnwk). gf and i've been thinking about rewatching it just to write out our thoughts on why s2 was such a poor follow-up to s1 - from the tone to the setup to all the worldbuilding the narrative had to offer in between the (far more) memorable songs of s1. idk. it's sad because cw really had the bones of a cult classic, but idek if you can call it that.
ive seen a few posts commenting on its lack of popularity, and i feel like it certainly deserves more, b/c i do feel like it's a novel idea made w/ love, but the shift btwn s1 and s2 wasnt just in the plot. there was a full-on *fracture* in the quality and direction and i'm still scratching my head over it. more than i should be, probably. but, it's just a bummer.

saw a post that reminded me again and ughhhhh... so things that happen In Canon are always more canon than word of god. i don't caaaaare that p'aof claimed out loud that homophobia doesn't exist in bad buddy's world, it's not canonically true at all
pran's parents have a whole conversation where "no, it's chill if you're with a man too!" which is literally nonsensical if this was actually a no-homophobia universe - it would be like deciding to sit your kid down and tell him "we are actually fine if you go out with a blonde" - the very conversation presupposes that they are going against a default!
and idk if youve all forgotten but that was only something aof was discussing when the reaction to wai was, um, clearly Stronger Than Expected. it's an outside-canon retcon that's it that's iiiiiiiiiiiit

always makes me so bummed and sad when new patrons come in and they ask like "how many are we allowed to get" like. because i know some libraries actually do have a borrowing limit but the only time i ever was subjected to one myself was in elementary school. at the school library. and none of the public libraries in my county system have one or ever have and it's like. these people have been to places where the free book distributor set a cap on distributing free books. and they don't know that at our house you can take home as many as you're willing to return! they don't know! they think we're stingy!!

Since I see a lot of reactions on articles/quotes from the Loki crew and cast, here are some general reminders when it comes to stuff like this;
There are so many people working on a show/movie and everyone make decisions creating the final product we watch. Of course they do a lot of work to unite their visions and make it cohesive, but "contradictions" may still happen. We often talk about the obvious people behind a show, the actors, writers and directors, but there are also costume designers, composers and editors, etc. All of these people can have different perspectives and pull things in different directions, that just sort of comes with the nature of making such a big show.
And then it comes to producing a show itself. Productions are messy. Things get reworked on the spot because what might've worked on the page didn't work in practice, props break and need to be changed, actors can't be in for the day, etc. All of these affect the final products in chaotic ways. Sometimes unpredictable things like this may get in the way of or improve the story.
And finally articles/interviews purpose is to provide this one specific person's perspective and promote the show, or engage fans.
So take these things with a grain of salt. You don't need to base your entire view on the show on statements from cast/crew. Is the line less meaningful because it was improvised? Should we consider an episode to be less canon because it was apparently rewritten a lot from its original state?
Your fan experience will likely be healthier and more fun if you try to mainly engage with the art you have in front of you. If you read quotes from creators and feel frustrated that they are inconsistent with the art - first of all, art is subjective, it just comes with the territory. But my main point of the post is that even if a person is working on the show, it doesn't mean that their view is 100% represented within the text. You don't need to go full Death of the Author here, but you gotta remember there isn't just one author and that author's intent at work here, there is a production, with all that comes with it. And honestly? That's what makes it interesting. All of these visions coming together to create art that we get to take part in, and whatever vision we're getting as a viewer might be something completely unique.
