Hey!

So I'm getting top surgery at the end of December and I'm gonna be out of work for roughly 2 months (6 weeks recovery + 2 weeks getting back up to speed). I'm out of sick pay and don't have much vacation pay so I'd appreciate if you could toss me a few bucks.

I make roughly 250$ a week (2000$, but would probably be fine with less (the equivalent of 150$ a week - 1200$). Although whatever help is appreciated.

i think that dick grayson should be a paramedic in blüdhaven and not a cop. why? a few reasons.

1) acab. yeah hes trying to fix it from the inside or whatever but i think he should actually help people during his day job and then beat up crooked cops during his night job. (do not come at me for not respecting his wish to make his department have less bad apples or whatever it is a fake city and i want my own personal wish fulfillment, not debates on police reform. i get enough of that irl. thanks)

2) all these bats get SO many injuries. please, i just want more people with real medical training at any level to be able to help. P school would be the best bang for the buck (in this case buck being shortest amount of time) while still giving him vital skills. 

3) in a city with That Much Crime, those ems agencies have to be overrun. its bad enough in just largely populated cities by themselves, but with all the crime violence on top of that? oof. i feel for all those theoretical medics and i want them to have help. i want more medics helping in the streets of blüdhaven. same goes for gotham tbh

4) if his son is a paramedic, then billionaire bruce wayne would pay more attention to the needs of fire/ems agencies and start throwing his money that way. can u imagine what fully funded, well paid ems agencies would be like for gotham/blüd? it would be revolutionary. SO much good could come from more funding to fire/ems. a dream come true

5) i think it would be super cute if nightwing had a sleek, fashionable little well stocked med kit fanny pack. it cuts down on time before treatment, and i have a personal bias :)

6) im projecting. i want more paramedic heroes. i want more paramedic au’s on ao3 so bad. pls 🙏

current obsession: I hate saying this bc it's embarrassing but my hyper fixation for the past few months has straight up been Aemond Targaryen and Ewan Mitchell. Like I am completely in awe of both the character and the actor. The character? He's a war criminal meow meow. The actor? GOOD GOD what a guy! I love his interviews, I love his passion, he's kind of turned into a role model ish for me??? Idk if role model is the right word but I just look up to him as an actor now. You can see the passion when he acts and that can't always be said. His interviews are very much proof of that as well.

Brain tumor update- cause why not.

I haven't spoke here in awhile, but I thought I'd give an update

College has been a lot, especially with outside sources affecting my life. I've been to see a endocrinologist for my tumor, they took my blood and even checked me to see if I was going blind (crazy to think)

All my labs came back normal but one, past labs confirmed that is it my tumor over producing unnecessary hormones causing all my problems

Oh and l've been set up for

accommodations for my tumor at the university I’m currently going to.

It’s been a lot and I’m stressed to say the least, I’m also still struggling with my art but I keep going

Depression life hack:

Do you have trouble getting out of bed to brush your teeth? Or have trouble brushing your teeth in general? I feel you, brushing your teeth has a lot of steps. What if you could boil it down to one?

Consider: dry brush your teeth. This helps get the big particles out so they don't build up and create plaque and irritate your gums / cause cavities. This is honestly the most important part of dental hygiene, toothpaste be damned.

Take that a step further -or, backwards? Why should you have to go all the way to the bathroom if you're not gonna rinse? Just keep your tooth brush by your bed. Now you don't have to get up, it's right there and you don't have to deal with toothpaste or water on your face. If you can swish with water or something after to make sure all the loose stuff is out, that's good too. (I literally just swallow it)

Upping the game a bit: when brushing with toothpaste just spit it out. Don't bother with rinsing. I have special prescription fluoride toothpaste I'm not supposed to rinse out, and since I removed that step it's been SO much easier to brush my teeth. It takes a little getting used to but you won't notice it after a while. And ofc you can bring that to your bed too. Maybe keep a lil cup or trashcan to spit into.

Other options: alcohol free mouthwash (the fluoride stuff). If brushing is too much work, just swish some mouthwash. But also if brushing is too much work I'd recommend an electric. It's worth it, teeth are much more expensive.

Get a smaller toothbrush. Try a kid's toothbrush, they're smaller and softer bristled so it's easier on your gums and easier to brush your back teeth. This can help with texture issues.

Get some floss picks. If you think you can manage a normal roll, go for it. If not I highly recommend the picks. Takes all the stress and dexterity out of trying to keep the floss tensioned. (I'd suggest picks with a slightly wavy handle, the straight ones are a little harder to maneuver).

Final, easiest option: try to swish some water around after eating anything. It'll help remove loose food and neutralize sugars/acids. My dentist told me to do this (in addition to everything else) so it's a good fall back.

In summary: brushing your teeth is honestly really difficult if you're depressed or chronically ill and or disabled. There's no shame in that. So fuck the rules: brush in bed, rinse in the kitchen, floss at the dinner table.

Hopefully you can try just one of these suggestions to make things easier for you. You don't have to do all of them. In fact, that'd be completely counter to the point.

TL;DR

Dry brush, no water or toothpaste

Dry brush in bed

Don't rinse after using toothpaste, just spit it out

Same thing but in bed (maybe get a cup)

Use alcohol free fluoride mouthwash (or whatever you can get)

Can also be done in bed (again, get a cup)

Get a smaller, softer toothbrush (kids brush)

And/ or an electric toothbrush (try a kid's brush)

Get floss picks (keep by your bed)

If you can't do any of these, just rinse with water after eating.

Remember, anything is better than nothing!

You can get 4-6 kids toothbrushes for like, 5$. They come in more colors too so it's more fun :)

You can get kid's (and some adult) electric toothbrushes for 10-20$. Try and make sure you get one that comes with the replacement heads in the package.

Alcohol free fluoride mouthwash is about 8-12$

You can get packs of 75-150 floss picks for like, 5$

I'd recommend sensodyne complete protection as a toothpaste bc it covers all the bases and isn't too harsh. It can be 8-15$ depending on where you go.

You should also try to change your toothbrush every 3-4 months, especially if it's worn down.
