the funny thing is that I keep in touch with my parents so little that sometimes I wonder how they think they know me at all, much more how they think they know me better than myself

You don’t shed a single tear for Mahito when he falls, utterly obliterated with no soul remaining, to the railroad tracks. It’s not because you hate him, it’s not because you feel nothing for the curse you worked closely with for these past few months. It’s not even because he died in such a violent way which makes you thirst to see more blood.
It’s because you have something bigger to worry about than satiating your appetite or grieving for your partner in crime. No, you have to worry about the one who killed Mahito, turning the silver haired man-child into splattered bits of purple on the tracks. You have to worry about him because he’s looking at you with gut clenching fury, and for the first time in your eighteen years, you find yourself gulping at the sight in front of you.
He takes a step forward, and you take a step back, repeating these motions until you spin around and quicken your pace. There’s nobody to back you up now, and if he killed someone as powerful as Mahito…then you’re simply fucked.
But he doesn’t let you get far. He won’t let you get away. He can’t let you ruin more lives.
You must be punished.
Yuji outmatches your speed, carrying himself on legs made of pure strength. His shin makes contact with the side of your head. Disoriented, you hold out a hand as your knees buckle.
Everything is whirling and whooshing, and you feel oh so close to vomiting.
He’s above you in an instant, grabbing you by your locks, dragging you towards him. Nose to nose, his other hand snakes out and grabs the lapel of your kimono.
Your mouth parts in response, and you’re so close that you can smell the blood on his face.
Your mouth parts in response, and you’re so close that you can smell the blood on his face.
Your curse technique, Stagger, hasn’t proven to be useful on him. However, being this close to him as well as having no way out, you’re tempted to send a wave of cursed energy at him, knocking him off kilter.
“What gives you the right?”
Biting your swollen lip, you hesitate to ask him what he means.
Yuji can see the question burning in your eyes. “What gives you the right to kill so many people? To torture them and play with their souls like they’re dolls?!”
And it’s a question you’ve never thought about before because why would you? You’re half curse. Isn’t it simply in your nature to feed off of the utter agony humans exude? You weren’t even raised human. Your mother, the demented curse painting who bore you, killed your father right in front of you and told you, “This is what we do to humans.” You were never led to believe anything else. It was simple. Curses kill humans.
But you’re also human. You never realized what that meant.
“I don’t…I don’t see you humans as dolls. It’s just how I was raised,” you try to explain, to defend, to justify your actions.
The human in you lives and self-preservation takes place over your desires to cause misery.
Now, it’s Yuji’s turn to look confused. “What do you mean it’s how you were raised? Curses aren’t raised.”
“I’m not entirely a curse. I’m half human.”
He mulls over the information you have just given him. You can see the gears winding in his head as he processes everything. It makes sense. Your beauty is unlike anything he has ever seen, odd and dark yet serene and enchanting. The way you walk, as if you’re gliding; the way you speak, as if you’re a siren luring him to the bottom of the sea. Yes, half human/half curse makes sense. He can see it now.
Yuji pulls you even closer to him. “So, you were raised to think it’s okay to kill people? That’s what you’re telling me? The human in you never thought to think otherwise?”
His grip on you has become a little more relaxed, and your scalp isn’t screaming as much for relief as it was in the beginning.
“Answer me!” Yuji demands as he yanks on your hair once more.
“I…I didn’t understand why my mother killed my father! I didn’t, I was four years old at the time. She told me it’s just what curses do, and I believed her.”
Should you not have believed her?
You’re human, but you’re also a curse that must be dealt with. Yuji can’t allow you to go unpunished even if your fucked up childhood led you to believe this nonsense.
“Are you going to kill me, Yuji Itadori?”
The peach haired sorcerer looks down at your blood soaked feet, crimson clinging to the hem of your kimono. “No, I won’t kill you, but I am gonna knock some sense into you.”
He drags you by your lapel towards a wall splattered with dripping blood and posters. He tugs on your clothes so hard that the top half rips open, exposing your breasts.
“How about I put some fear in you for a change, huh? See what it feels like to mess with other people, to make them wish they were dead?”
Shock fills you as he shoves your back against the covered wall with cracks and busted holes from the previous fight. You push against Yuji’s shoulders as he pulls his cock free from his uniform trousers. He spits on his palm, pumping his flaccid length until it’s hard. You’re intimidated by his size. Your eyes widen as you watch him nudge his veiny and upward curved erection further between your thighs.
You don’t know the feeling swirling around inside of your stomach, but you know that you don’t like it. Your breath hitches, stuck in your throat as you ball your fists up and lash out against him.
“No, don’t!”
You build up a wave of cursed energy, but Yuji sees through you. He backhands you, knuckles cracking across your cheekbone. A cherry hue blooming across the right side of your face. Now, you’re the dizzy one.
You try to clamp your thighs shut, but he only picks you up until he’s splitting your pussy in half.
With large paws curling under your knees, he fucks into you, youthful hips vigorously piston upwards, making you whine and throw your head back. You look to the side through bleary eyes to see if there’s any chance of escape.
His hot breath on your neck captures your attention. “You’re gonna look at me, and you’re gonna take your punishment. This is the least of what you deserve after all the harm you caused.”
You don’t exactly understand what he’s doing to you, but your instinct is to drive a distance between the two of you until he’s out of your life for good. All you know is that his piercing cock is hurting your insides. It feels so violating. That’s what your brain is telling you.
However, your body claims a different story. You can’t help but tremble on Yuji’s thick sword, pussy clamping down on his erection as a bulge forms in your tummy.
The sorcerer is looking at you like he’s an apex predator, and for the first time in your life, you feel like prey.
A hand circles around your throat, leaving your leg to dangle in the air as Yuji keeps you impaled on his cock.
“Yuji, let go of me…” You plead once more with nothing bitter or hateful consuming your tone. You’re simply defeated and begging for mercy.
“Causing harm to others doesn’t seem much fun now, yeah?” he patronizes, voice soft against the shell of your ear as he steadily thumps into you.
Harsh, sharp canines latch onto your neck, suckling the skin. You feel his tongue drag along your throat, and you can’t breathe. You can’t. It’s all too much, and this isn’t right!
Eyebrows drawn together, lip quivering, you break out into violent sobs as he punishes you in the most cruel way you could ever imagine. You’ve slaughtered so many in the past, not even bothering to keep count. You’ve taken heads and hearts, you’ve ripped open bodies from skull to stomach, yet you would never even think to terrorize someone like this, so intimate yet so vile.
Your head drops to Yuji’s shoulder as you wail, clutching his uniform as a way to hold onto something. As violent waves roll through you, your sopping wet slit finally relaxes against Yuji, finally letting him play with you how he desires.
You feel your pussy gush around him, come dripping down your thighs as he bottoms out against you. He lets go of you, letting you balance on two wobbly feet before you drop to your knees. You can feel a mixture of both your orgasms drip down your thighs, and you bury your head in your hands, shoulders rocking as you cry heavily.
Yuji takes in the beautiful sight before him. You: a true damsel in distress, disheveled, weeping, chest bare, kimono so askew that he can still see your weeping little cunt.
“It seems like you learned your lesson. I still have more to teach you, so come on. I’m going to turn you into a decent human being no matter how long it takes.”

Matilda- Simon 'Ghost' Riley
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photo creds:@ave661^
Based on a request:
Ghost finding out his s/o has a bad family, who she doesn’t keep in contact with but talks shit about and is like. Pretty open about how fucking awful her past was? if it’s too much I get it but like- I used to love your angst posts :3 they were so yummy! --- F!Reader, 18+, angst, comfort, family issues/trauma, mentions of SA/rape, mentions of eating disorders, toxic!family, mentions of child abuse, so...trigger warning!! ---
A/N: this is me trauma dumping so I'm sorry if it isn't perfect
Simon knew, he knew well that you weren't so open to starting a family with him for reasons he knew best to respect. But, one day, without him even realising he asked the question, you sat down and told him the story your teary eyes held for so long. As he listened to you explain the stories, he noticed how he wasn't speaking to his wife but to the little girl, his wife once was. The one who was left in a cruel world to people who shouldn't have had kids. "So, they...abused you?" He carefully asked and when he noticed you pause, he knew the answer you didn't. "I...I don't think so," your soft words spoke.
Nothing about the way you were treated seemed especially alarming 'til now
"What I know is that they were mean, evil to me. I was a kid...how was I to know right from wrong so easily?" You held his hand, support you failed to have as a child. Then, you told him the story of a young R/N. "I don't remember the exact age, but I could've been 5 through 8. I was there, he took me to his room, I thought we were going to play and he said we would so would I have known, you know?" Your innocent voice spoke the fear he held. "I don't remember much of that day but in glimpses, if I look too deep, I can see his hands between my thighs, and how he...well...you know," you couldn't explain, it was like a knot in your throat prevented to cause your heart more harm. "And you didn't tell your parents?" His voice is soft. You shake your head, "No, I...as a kid, they never believed what I said," you chuckle out of coping with it all.
"There was one time when my older sister tried to suffocate me, I didn't do anything to deserve it, all I did was watch cartoons and she annoyed me but I knew best and didn't feed into what she wanted from me." You pause and wipe some tears away. Your gaze never fell on his, afraid to break down too easily if you stared at the man who became home to you so long ago. He was that, he was comfort and home and you knew that if you stole one glance, you would be sobbing the stories. Your hand held his tighter, he knew well it was for comfort. "She pressed the pillow tight on my head, I was sick and my stupid lungs couldn't take the fact I had pneumonia, so of course killing me would be easier," you chuckle again. His gaze never left your delicate face and even he had to admit he cried as you told him these stories.
After a long sigh and pause you continue, "I somehow pushed her off me and ran to my parent's room, knocked loud and when my dad opened the door I swore I finally felt safe until I didn't," You know he was ready to ask why but you just laid your head on his shoulder. Looking off into the distance you continued, "My sister told them I pushed her, told her that I hated her, which is not true because hate is strong and she is my sister," you shake your head. "I cried when they didn't believe me, and had a panic attack in their room. and when I backed into a corner as my mother and father yelled at me...that's when they took my sister to the hallway and my mother stayed with me, she tried to hug me but I didn't need none of that...not from her." His hand rubbed your arm, knowing what you needed from him. You wipe some tears away, your breathing hitches and he wraps both arms around you. "I didn't hurt her Simon, I swear I didn't but no one believes me, no one," you whisper the last part. "I know you didn't, my love," he kisses your head and continues to rub your arm.
"I believe you, I'll always believe you before anyone else," he reminds you. "I...my mother gave me water and sent me to my room, told me to just sleep it off," you stop and cry. "Oh my love," he whispers and carries you onto his lap. The pouty frown broke his heart more and more. The cosy home he and you made for the years of your life, warming up his belief that slowly, he will replace all those bad years. The fireplace radiates heat on the snowy winter day. "In this world, I'll always believe you, no matter what, okay, my love?" He looks down and you nod. "That's my girl," he says and places a blanket over you both. "Do you want to continue, my love?" He asks, rubbing your back with his warm touch.
"I do," your voice is small. It was best to open about this and then burn it and let the ashes fly away than to keep it locked in for eyes to see. "I...as I grew up, I knew I had no place in that house. My mother shamed me for my body, and so did everyone in my family." Your head nuzzling onto his chest like a cat finding comfort. "So, I starved myself to be the perfect daughter. I did try to be perfect, I tried to get an I love you, a simple smile or hug." He nods, understanding where you came from. "One time, my mother grabbed my stomach, she told me I was fat and looking back at how I was at that age, I...I was healthy, nothing was ever wrong with me, nothing," you repeat in a whisper.
After a long time of comfortable silence, you speak again. "As I grew older, they made me feel terrible about all of me, how I dressed, if I did my makeup, my hair, my body, the stretch marks that decorated my body, all of it and even I wasn't allowed to have one bad day, not one." He shook his head and in that instant, he understood why all those years of loving you, you always avoided starting a family conversation. You were afraid to be like them, to persist in a cycle of never-ending trauma. He knew you loved him, he knew how much you yearned to be a mum, to watch him and you become parents and do foolish things for and with your child.
"I never understood why I was so insecure over my thighs or why I hated when people touched them, but as I grew older and noticed that I was...you know... I..um.." You could never be admitted, never say you were raped as a child, not when you were scared to acknowledge it again. "I know love," he responds so you don't torture your heart anymore. "But...when I realised what happened to me, that's when it all hit me and there was a time in my young life that I knew I would never forget," you kept holding onto his torso. "It hadn't been long after what that...person...did to me when my mum and sisters pinned me to the ground, they knew then that I disliked people touching my thighs so they pinned me to the ground and touched them," you shake your head, trying to forget the moment. "They...th-they touched my body as I cried and begged for them to stop and not once did anyone stop or help me. My father walked by and he...he just laughed and kept walking...how...how can you do that?" You cried. "How can a parent do that? I was a kid, Simon...a child," you broke down.
"And don't get me started on why I felt like Christmas was just not a happy holiday anymore." Your mind went to a past Christmas, your family yelling, your father accused of his cheating, never denying, just lying and yelling at your mother. You hid in a closet, grabbed headphones and played music loudly. Hours passed and your mother saw fear within her eyes as she cried to you, why can he love me? she asked as she cried, you played strong. Your father drove away, leaving his family scared and cornered in a bathroom, crying as they listened to stories.
"My dad used to hit me, well, my entire family really," you confessed. His eyes widened, he knew they were bad, but not this bad. "My dad had a belt he used to hit me with, my mother and sisters used to watch. One time, they added more fuel to the fire as they told him more lies to get me into more trouble, part of me thinks they loved to watch me cry and get hit." You so innocently say, "When I was a kid and even as I grew older, my mum and dad would hit me and tell me they did it because they loved me." He shook his head, "Never...never in your life do you dare think that way. If I even dare to lift my hand at you, you leave me, my love. Because no matter how much you or I love the other, abuse doesn't equal love," he cups your face. You nod.
You learned one thing from Simon as he listened, that he was calm after the bad storm. He had his troubles, yes, but never would he be like them. He and you healed the other after all those years of a bad life you lived. You and him, sunshine to the other even in the darkest of the night. He has become light and a new beginning. Family. And as you admire the soul who can tell which smiles you are faking, you know that the little girl in you is finally safe. She has packed her dolls and sweater, moved to the countryside, grew up and fell in love with a man. A man who is home, a man who became the grown-up little R/N runs to when scared. For he is home, he is light and he is love. He is your man, your safe place and the one you find comfort in.
I don't believe that time will change your mind In other words I know they won't hurt you anymore as long as you can let them go
"No more," he told you, you looked up at him in confusion. "No more?" you asked and he shook his head. "From this day on, you are not their blood, you are a Riley, you are R/N Riley and never will you be associated with them." He cupped your face. His tone was stern as he tried to make you listen to him. "They are not family, my love. They are strangers you lived with. And me...I am your family, we don't need another shit Christmas, we can...hm...we can have dinner here, or maybe get takeout and watch your favourite movies all day and night. Hey, who knows, maybe that Santa Clause man will come in the night as we sleep and hopefully you've been nice my love because I want him to bring you some good gifts," he chuckles as he cups your delicate face. You laugh a little, "Hey, look who's back, that cute laugh of yours my love," he kisses your lips and pulls you to him, closer than you already were.
You can start a family who will always show you love You don't have to be sorry for doing it on your own
In this lifetime, you will learn many things and you will meet many people. Most of which will come and go. Those who stay, you may ask? Well, they become a family, maybe not a biological one but it's not blood that relates two strangers. It's memories, it's understanding, growing, living and loving. Family is him, family is the old lady or that professor you bonded with. Family is people who make you feel safe and at home. For if you are lucky, in this life you will find your Simon Riley. The person who wraps you in a warm blanket and loves you a little more when you hate the reflection in the mirror. And if you get even luckier, you will find that not only will it be Simon Riley who heals your old wounds and covers them in kisses and caresses. You will find yourself, maybe in ten years, getting covered in glitter, mud, and stickers and having the walls of your home drawn on by Simon's child. The love child that was created on a warm Christmas morning. The same one that wakes you up at six in the morning to go and see what the big red man brought them for Christmas.
And if you are lucky enough, you will find peace. The same one you looked for since age 5, the same one you cried for throughout the years. Maybe it won't come this year, but if you are patient enough, you will find it and when you do, appreciate it because you cried for it many moons ago.
You don't have to be sorry, no
A/N: the tears I shed as I wrote this made a river. Anyway, thank you for letting me dump years of trauma with this one, love you all <3

Stop comparing Alicent to Cersei. Compare Rhaenyra to Cersei instead.
Let’s go over some similarities they share, shall we.
1. Both Cersei and Rhaenyra had several children with their lover (Jaime and Harwin) and pretended like those children were legitimate even if it was pretty damn obvious in Rhaenyra’s case that they weren’t, and somewhat suspicious in Cersei’s. Alicent didn’t love her husband either, yet her children were all legitimate and fathered by her husband.
2. Both Cersei and Rhaenyra were pretty spoiled children of rich parents that made them believe that their actions will have no consequences, so they could get away with pretty much anything since their daddy has their back. Alicent was never spoiled and never really did anything that she would regret. She always did her duty as wife, mother and queen.
3. Both Cersei and Rhaenyra always pretended like their children are perfect and could do no wrong. I’m cheating a little with this one, tbh, since Cersei kinda knew that Joffrey was fucked up but still, she never really did anything to stop him/fix him. The only time she slapped him was because he asked her “if Robert fucked other women when he grew tired of her.” She never really punished him for everything else he did and always took his side. Alicent always calls out Aegon for his behavior and don’t forget the “you are no son of mine”. Cersei would’ve never said such a thing to any of her children, not even Joffrey. Neither Rhaenyra or Cersei would comfort the rape victim of their child.
4. This one is kinda hard to explain but; both Rhaenyra and Cersei are responsible for the way their children turned out to be. Cersei was responsible for Joffrey being the way he was, and Rhaenyra was responsible for Lucerys’ behavior (i will never shut up about him cutting Aemond’s eye off). But you cannot fucking blame Alicent for Aegon being a rapist (i haven’t read the books but as far as i’m aware, that never even happened in the books, it’s just a show thing to demonize the Greens. Correct me if i’m wrong).
5. Even tho both were women, neither Cersei or Rhaenyra ever were feminists. They only cared for themselves and their own well being, as well as their children’s. Alicent has always been an altruist and although she doesn’t do much to overthrow patriarchy either, she doesn’t really have the power to do that. But again, at least she cared for others and the smallfolk, not just for herself.
6. Cersei kills or threatens anyone who dares speak to her or her children the wrong way, and Rhaenyra isn’t much different, being afraid that the truth about her bastards might come out. Alicent was not an usurper, she never tried to silence others for the truth, since she has nothing to hide.
this post is kinda chaotic, i wrote this list at like 1 am and was tired af so maybe some things aren’t really understandable so sorry about that lmao

No this fandom is actually insane
Do people think it’s ok to write “he was teaching her how to bathe”?????? I’m honestly scared to go read the post that they were talking about. The lengths that these people will go to just to prove that dettles never happened
Read at your own risk.
The person who wrote that is actually Black(or so they claim), but is willing to throw Black characters and Black fans under the bus and promote negative stereotypes about us for their mostly (racist) followers in defense of a racist characters desirability.
Sir/ma’am, if you are reading this, get some self respect. I’m actually embarrassed for you cause this shit is actually pathetic. You’re better than this.
Case in point they wrote this crap a while back with 100% sincerity:
Tumblr media
(I should also note that I actually had a run in with them about a year and some change ago and they threatened to block me after I asked them if Corlys bathing with Rhaenyra would be normal father daughter figure bonding time so I blocked them first😊).
Like you don’t have to like Dettles, but when you are pushing harmful ideology and stereotypes (Black people are so stupid/dirty that we need the white mans help to civilize us) as a way to discredit them and make those who ship it look like angry Black women jealous of the poor helpless white woman and her stans, you’ve gone too far.
Let’s keep in mind that this poor helpless white woman was actively trying to kill a Black girl for a crime she claims she didn’t commit and that despite claiming that Nettles definitely didn’t sleep with Daemon her stans spazz out everytime you mention her name and actively want her cut from the show.
Or how about the fact that these same stans actively stalk and harass Dettles shippers whose only crime has been pointing out y’all’s bullshit.
Let’s keep in mind all of this shall we:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So who is actually jealous of who here? Who in this scenario wants racial revenge?* Who is the problem in this hellhole of a fandom?
Is it the people merely pointing out Nettles importance to the Dance and Daemon’s arc or the people who hurl racial insults and stereotypes? The people who want her erased from the narrative in its entirety cause she disrupts the status quo?
(The fact that someone would even fix their mouth to say that when Black people have been beaten, raped, enslaved, terrorized, tortured, disenfranchised, abused, subjected, and not even given common decency and respect for centuries by these people. If we wanted racial revenge it damn sure wouldn’t be off the back of a fucking fictional character).
The fact that they can’t see Nettles value and only see her as some irrelevant Black girl and reduce people liking her down to a gotcha/“woke” moment is fandom misogynoir in action.
They forget that she comes from nothing, claims a dragon, has a prince willing to give his life for her(six men or sixty remember that since y’all claim to be capable of reading🙃), survives the Dance and becomes a firewitch worshipped by a group of people, because they don’t want to acknowledge her importance.
It makes them uncomfortable to do so because she doesn’t look like them, but people like I’m not like those other Negros cover up for them so that when they are called out for it they can go see this n-I mean this Black person agrees with me.
Imagine being this butt hurt about a fictional character that you can’t even leave your racism or tap dancing at the door for five seconds.
Nettles doesn’t fit the mold, but that’s the point of her story.
They can recognize maester propaganda and scream about feminism when it comes to their white faves, but when it comes to the Black girl who is actively being stereotyped and maligned for her gender, race, and social standing in the source material they believe it no questions asked?
Again, what does it say about you that you are so willing to believe that a Black girl who was clever enough to claim a wild dragon doesn’t know how to bathe herself? What does it say about you that you think Daemon would never touch her with a ten foot pole just because she’s Black?
What does it say about you don’t want her on the show because of her race? What does it say about you that a fictional character who just so happens to be Black has you worked up into a tizzy.
Y’all claim to be for women(real or fictional), but in reality you only care about the women who look like you and shit on women you see as beneath you. Women who you think are a threat to the status quo. You’re no better than the men who oppress you.

I always find it funny when those who support the Greens cling to Daemon’s (supposedly) evil acts and atrocities committed, to justify them overthrowing the king’s chosen heir, while also completely ignoring their own side.
Aegon is a proven rapist and frequent child abuser, who might even be a pedophile as well, depending on how you interpret the comment that he prefers the more “unsavory” brothels. He has bastards, whom he has fight in fighting pits. He is an absolute monster.
Helaena is an innocent victim. I’ll give you that. I feel bad for what is to come for her.
Aemond is a kinslaying psychopath. I don’t get those who seem to look forward to him and Alys. He killed her entire family and then took Alys, a prisoner of war, into his bed. Sounds like rape and a war crime to me. His actions cause so much pain. Burns the Riverlands, killing thousands, and his actions are the reason Jaehaerys is brutally massacred.
Daeron is an unknown entity, though he doesn’t seem evil, just a dutiful young man and another victim of his family’s misplaced ambition.
Alicent is a terrible person. She sneakily crept into the bed of her best friend’s father, not even six moons after his wife died in the birthing bed. I’d be surprised if the birthing blood had dried yet. She raised her sons to be hateful little monsters, and inspired their base and disgusting behavior. She was abusive and an all-round horrible mother. Every bad thing that will happen to her family is because of her. She hides behind her false piety, while she is out here allowing dudes to wank one out over her feet the day her husband died. Alicent is no victim, she hasn’t been one in a very long time. She could have had Larys seized, but she didn’t because she wants him working for her and not her father. Manipulative and disgusting.
Larys is a kinslayer of the worst kind. No problem with the foot fetishism, to everyone their own. Though I do find a dude called the Clubfoot having a thing for feet a little on the nose.
Criston Cole is truly an incel. He had one whiff of pussy and upon being rejected started spouting every incel/MRA talking-point out there. He is just a sad and pathetic person wearing a mask and clinging to his false Faith and his white cloak, pretending to be someone he is not.
Otto is a jealous little troll, who did everything in his power to destroy the House of the Dragon. I am a firm believer in the Oldtown Conspiracy, and that the Faith, the Citadel and House Hightower conspired to overthrow the Dragonlords and install Hightowers on the Iron Throne. He cares for nothing but himself. He is an almost one-dimensional villain.
That said, while the Greens are shit, they wouldn’t have been able to pull this off if not for two people: Jaehaerys and Viserys.
Jaehaerys was no conciliator, he was a capitulator. He kneeled to the Faith, was a shit father to his daughter, clearly a rampant misogynist, and allowed these “lesser” Andal lords a say in the governing and succession of the House of the Dragon. His entire shtick about Targaryen exceptionalism was thrown out the window the moment he didn’t want a woman on the throne. He is the root of all evil. Alysanne was a far better queen than he was a king.
Ah, Viserys the Peaceful. More like Viserys the Fool. The only reason he even sat the throne was because his brother assembled an army for him. Well, that and because his grandfather was clearly a deep-rooted women-hater. He was a moron. I saw someone describe him as using his kindness and peaceful nature to cloak what hides beneath: weakness. He was so easily manipulated and his actions led to the death of the dragons.
It is no coincidence it all went wrong for the Targaryens the moment the King wed an Andal. You can disagree with Daemon's Valyrian supremacy all you'd like, but he was right. The moment they "bred" with lesser beings, it all went to shit. They should have kept it to the Velaryons, Celtigars, Baratheons or the bastard Valyrians from the Free Cities.
The Greens’ treason caused the death of the dragons and was the reason the Seven Kingdoms were unprepared for the Night King and his armies.

RANT: How exactly are the writers biased towards Rhaenyra and the Blacks?
This has just got to stop. Greenies are embarrassing themselves.
On the one hand, they say that Rhaenyra is clearly sooooo bad (for who knows what reason. Disliking her as a person is not a good reason. I can give you a list to touch the floor of crimes committed by the greens this season. Rhaenyra has literally done nothing so far. That’s right, she really is a victim.)
On the other, they say that Rhaenyra is portrayed better by the writers on the show, and it is not fair (boo hoo).
Aha, so you admit that Rhaenyra is clearly better than the greens…you just don’t like the idea. Boo hoo.
So, which is it? Contradictory much?
Tumblr media
I seriously believe that the people who support the greens have certain issues in relation to privileged people, such as Rhaenyra.
Guess what? Rhaenyra was born a Princess, she is privileged and that is not her fault. If you are jealous of her, that is your problem.
Getting away with things? What exactly has she gotten away with? Are we beating the same old horse concerning her first three children? Just stop, seriously. Let’s see what you would have done in her situation.
The greens, on the other hand, my God, they outright killed sooooo many people and they have irredeemable assholes in their group. Not to mention that the Hightowers have been plotting to steal the throne from the Targaryens since the beginning. And now I am supposed to feel sorry for usurpers? Did I miss something? They brought it on themselves.
Alicent Hightower, a bitch certain people love to portray as the Virgin Mary, is a hateful and jealous shrew because she is low-born and didn’t have privileges, like Rhaenyra did. Boo hoo! Life isn’t fair, sweetheart. If you want someone to blame, how about your power hungry, manipulative snake of a father? Are we all to start civil wars when we are married to old men who can’t give us an orgasm?
I would have sympathized with her, if she had acted a whole lot differently. She is a low-born young woman who was pushed and also seduced her way in the highest position of power for a woman at the time (queen consort). She should have been thanking the Gods for her undeserved luck. There were many better young women who didn’t have such good fortune. Yea, it was her father who forced her, bla bla bla. Fine. I’ll give her that.
But if I were in her position, I would have acted with dignity and been quiet as a mouse, not intent on causing trouble left and right. Because she doesn’t deserve what was given to her. She never did. She wasn’t a mouse. She decided to abuse her power, as if she has always been entitled to it. She wasn’t. As much as she wants, she will never be Rhaenyra. She spent all her time sticking her nose in Rhaenyra’s business when she should have been teaching her pride and joy not to rape servant girls and act his age. Rhaenyra’s children are just as much Targaryen by blood as the Hightower spawns, but unlike them, they are well-educated and show kindness. That’s because Rhaenyra didn’t give a damn about Alicent’s life and spent her valuable time caring for and educating her children.
So, by putting all cards on the table, this was never about honor and decency for Alicent. She wanted to stick it to Rhaenyra and take away her throne because she is jealous of her, for having love, for having solutions to her problems, for not being stuck in a position she can’t get out of, for having more freedom than her. She should just admit that this is what it’s all about. She was close to admitting it when she snapped and attacked Rhaenyra in episode 7 (showing her true colors).
Hatred and jealousy towards a former friend, whom she screwed over when she started seeing her father behind her back.
Male over female monarch on the Iron Throne is a tradition and followed due to precedent. It is not stipulated in any law!
By royal decree, Jaehaerys named Viserys his heir because the Lords wanted it. He wasn’t forced to listen to them. But he did, because he wanted to avoid upsetting them (the coward).
By royal decree, Viserys named Rhaenyra his heir. A King’s decree is law, even if it doesn’t correspond with tradition. Rhaenyra was set to inherit the throne. It is hers by royal decree. Period!
You know how the situation would have looked like in modern times? Picture this:
Your best friend, whom you have known your entire life, starts to secretly see your rich father behind your back after your mother passes away (I don’t give a damn that it wasn’t her decision. She chooses not to tell you.). Then, your father springs on you that he will marry her. After your father dies, your former-best friend and her gold-digging family take away your inheritance for themselves. Would you still be rooting for them?
Bottom line:
Stop whining about how the writers make Rhaenyra look good. The book is very subjective and inaccurate. GRRM himself said to pay attention to the show, not the book. The show indicates what parts of the book are false and which aren’t.
Also, need I remind you that the greens are given a pass on screen on all the crimes they committed up until now? You don’t see me whining about how unfair that is, because in the book they didn’t kill people “accidentally”.
This is GRRM’s story and he is involved in the production. If he decides that the Blacks are the anti-heroes and the Greens are the anti-villains, that’s just how it is, and no amount of your “critical thinking” is going to change that.
In case you haven’t noticed, GRRM does not treat usurpers too nicely. He wipes out their entire line, because that is a little something called justice.
1. Maegor
2. Aegon II
3. Robert Baratheon
That is exactly what is going to happen to Aegon Hightower and his mother will have a front row seat.
Alicent Hightower is a clear example that hatred and jealousy doesn’t get you far in this world. You need to mind your own damn business and if she and Otto would have done so (and not tried to usurp the throne from the rightful ruling House) they wouldn’t have had such horrific (and totally deserving) fates.
There are no good and bad sides here, sure. However:
The Blacks: anti-heroes
The Greens: anti-villains
So, who you root for is your business but stop trying to make it easier for yourself to root for someone you shouldn’t be rooting for by blaming the writers. It’s your decision. Live with it!

I don’t want to start drama and I don’t think Damen raped Laurent but like… Damens been raping sex slaves since he was thirteen lol like they were slaves and could not consent, ergo: rape. That Damen/Akielos didn’t think of it that way and that Damen would be horrified by such an accusation doesn’t mean we in the modern world shouldn’t recognize it as rape. I do love Damen as a character for what it’s worth but yeah. Def a rapist. As is Laurent, for that matter, who I also love.
Hmm are you sure you don't want to create drama lol.
Okay so this is touching on some very emotive topics.
All I'm going to say is yep, absolutely. Laurent and Damen are morally grey characters by today's legal standards and moral values. They inflict grievous bodily harm, and they kill. Both of them leave victims in their wake.
Readings of this text can be done in multiple ways, and the fact that it is basically original slash fiction that was meant to be 'slavefic' and explore that as a kink, meant once it moved to traditional publishing and came outside of that particular context, the content was always going to be problematic. I do think Pacat pulls off an extraordinary feat by turning something originally meant to be sexy and a kink exploration, into something with such meaningful, complex characterisation
I want to throw something out there, about legal definitions of crime, in terms of the rape in the novel. There are two aspects: 'actus reus' which translates as the act of committing the crime, and 'mens rea' which is the intention to commit the crime. You need both to convict someone. In the UK, where I was born and brought up, consent relates to both- so as soon as you commit the act of raping someone without consent, you also have the 'mens rea' of intention.
Now under that definition, yep, you would call Laurent and Damen rapists. No arguments from me there.
If you did want to delve a little deeper, this is what I would say:-
Essentially, both Laurent and Damen absolutely commit actus reus, in terms of rape, Damen by having sex with slaves and Laurent by what he does when he drugs Damen and tries to have Govart rape him in the ring, and when he forces Damen to undergo fellatio by Ancel (under UK law, 'causing someone to have sexual activity' is also a sexual offence, I'm actually not sure if it would be seen as rape, but in my eyes it is). Laurent most definitely also has the 'mens rea', he did those things with the intent that Damen be raped and sexually assaulted.
Damen, I do feel is more complicated, because I think it can be successfully argued that he had the 'actus reus' but not the 'mens rea'. You can feel free to disagree with me on this. Your reading of the text is your own. This is fiction and not real life. The world of the books is not our world.
Damen has had 'kinghood' hammered into him since a child. Think of what Akielon thinking is like around that: Be the perfect warrior. Be the perfect man. Be virile. Take slaves as it is a source of 'extreme pride' to your people. Slaves are trained to be submissive, they crave a master, they submit and you treat them perfectly. That is the trade off, and it is honourable.
Damen didn't actually see slaves as people, in the same way that he would literally anyone else in society. It's horrific, no doubt about that. But Damen has never ever questioned or critiqued his culture, as slavery is ingrained into every part of it. That would also go against what his father Theomedes believed in too, and Damen was raised to be obedient to him, and lived his life striving to please his father completely. Damen treated his slaves perfectly, so he thought, and he thought of that as part of his moral duty. You can see that Damen literally risks so much to ensure the safety of the consignment of slaves at Arles. He also sees what Govart did to Erasmus as rape (which it was), and is filled with righteous anger and outrage over it. This all tells us a lot about his world view.
Remember that Damen as a prince is literally 'exalted', considered on a higher level to normal people, so much so that his body servants in KR cannot dress him without extreme nervousness as the intimacy of touching his body is too disrespectful ('death to lay hands on the son of the king'). Slaves can do it, as they are literally so submissive that they will do anything they are ordered to. It angers and displeases the Akielons in KR, that Damen refuses slaves, and he still soldiers on regardless. I would wager, in terms of his upbringing Damen would be pretty touch-starved if it weren't for slaves (and wrestling!) because he literally is not supposed to be touched! Imagine the head-fuck of having that as your normal way of being (it's also why, alongside notions of Akeilon masculinity, I don't think he was hugged for most of his life, until Laurent in ch 12 of KR). To sum up: Damen has no conception in terms of his world view that what he's doing to slaves is rape, therefore his 'mens rea' is, arguably, actually not there. When Laurent accuses him of being a rapist, he visibly recoils in horror, as that's simply not something he thinks he would ever do.
As soon as Damen experiences the true horrors of slavery for himself, he understands slaves are human beings, something he didn't really get before, and he becomes an abolitionist. He refuses to have sex with them, as now he knows it’s rape, and won't even be served by them. It isn't just that Damen is in love with Laurent, and doesn't want to have sex with anyone but him. He has changed his own world view, by being on the other side of the fence, in a country that was not his own, but also of his own volition and now has the ability to make the right choices.
So, whether you see him as a rapist or not, is entirely up to you. But people are going to read his actions differently when it comes to his 'mens rea', and I think that's something that has to be accepted as part of fandom discourse. I also find it interesting, that for some reason, Laurent's actions which so much more clearly had the intent of inflicting sexual acts by force, are seen as secondary to Damen's apparently. Make of that what you will 🌚

I think I need to clarify something: when I say men see women as assets, subhuman, etc., that is not at ALL indicative of how I see women.
I say what I say because I believe based on history and culture, that men truly view women in these ways. Not because women are actually that way, but because the more women refuse to acknowledge that how they are being treated is a direct consequence of what men believe about them and themselves, the more they will be betrayed in the most gruesome ways.
Most women and girls, unfortunately, have this “the lion wont bite me because it will sense my good vibes” mentality to men. Just because he had proximity to you or “owns” you doesn’t mean he loves you, no matter how much you want him to. And just because he loves you doesn’t mean it’s enough.
Also, I’m someone who grew up with loving parents and typical brothers. We’ve laughed and cried together. Having history with someone is the biggest bond. But regardless of how deep my bond with my brothers is, I have still separated myself from them. It is painful, but I’ve also never been better. The self-respect and self-love I have requires that I bar people from mistreating me. “We accept the love we think we deserve” and too many of you think you deserve dogshit just because you’re a woman and it could be worse. My brothers have never beat me or called me a slur to my face. That doesn’t mean I get to excuse their rape jokes or them sharing nudes of other girls with their friends.
My father LOVES me. He would drive out in the middle of the night to buy pads and pain medication even if he just got back from work. That doesn’t mean I’ll laugh with him over him poking fun at my mom’s weight. That doesn’t mean I’ll laugh at his misogynistic jokes. I will and have fought viciously with that man because he is still a product of his history and environment. He loves me and he is also a misogynist. Accepting those facts about him doesn’t mean I tolerate his beliefs. I oppose them. And I let them inform how he truly sees me, because I wont accept being gaslit about the facts. He may not willfully want to harm women, but his intentions do not diminish what harm his words spread, and he 100% should face consequences for that. He does believe that women are subordinate and lesser to men. And I have 100% let it affect our relationship.
It’s not about whether you should compromise or not. It’s not about how much they care about you as their person. I understand that their loyalty ultimately lies with their manhood and self-construction under patriarchy. As much as they might defend me were I attacked in the street, I understand that they don’t mind that the world is unsafe for me. They may not want me personally to be raped, but they celebrate the status quo and will betray me for it. It’s a difficult reality to swallow, knowing that for all the tenderness my father has toward me, he ultimately believes I should be subordinate to him or a man. He believes I am a sub-genre of man. He believes God made me to be headed by a man. Both are true.
That still doesn’t mean I have to take any of their shit. Love can be felt and professed, but it is only meaningful in action. I am loved as a sister and a daughter, not as a woman. I am respected as their sister and their daughter. Not as a woman or equal human being. That is the truth about them, not me. And I have to respect that reality. Also because I have a responsibility to other women.
Affection is not absence of bigotry. My parents know I’m SSA, and they think that it’s a deformity and disease. They won’t kick me out of the house or kill me. But they don’t accept me either. They love me, but only to an extent. Their love absolutely has limits. So why shouldn’t my loyalty?
So I warn other girls about my brothers. I tell them to stay the fuck away. I was once close with my brothers but now I’m merely cordial. I deliberately avoid them on many occasions because I respect myself. I respect my instincts. I respect my values and my personhood. I won’t tell the itch that it isn’t there. I fight with my father. I don’t let him use examples of his generosity or sacrifice he’s made to excuse his misogyny and bigotry or disrespect of me, my sister, women or my mother. I don’t laugh along with his homophobic or fat phobic jokes. No matter how much he wants me to. I don’t care that he thinks it’s a break in our bond. It should be.
Because I can acknowledge that their hate isn’t personal, without accepting the lie that somehow, that should be enough for me. That they respect me.
You deserve so much better gyns. Don’t measure what you deserve based on whether you can get better from someone else. You deserve better because you are a human being. Don’t settle for what is beneath what you as a human being deserve or what you can give yourself.
I wouldn’t love myself and find freedom in being myself, unshakeable confidence, if I didn’t protect myself from the people that love me, but not what I’m made of. You should be embraced, not tolerated. Respected, not merely wanted or liked.

The only reason why you hate Lyanna is because she wasn’t an obedient and demure proper lady who did her duty and sacrifice by marrying Robert. That’s literally it. You may hide behind the omg we actually only hate Rhaegar because he humiliated his wife, but you don’t even try to hide your disdain for her 😭 You’d rather have her marry Robert (he cheat on her and fathered Bella when Lyanna was allegedly sequestrated) whom she doesn’t want, endure his humiliations, cheating, rape, and beating (Robert would turn towards it the second he could) and given the repeated pattern on here, the fandom think she’s evil because she wasn’t mindful of her duty and wasn’t doing her duty and sacrifice or any other of the conservative ideas. And that's what you expect from women. To submit to their fates, to men. Only those women who stick to the patriarchal norms and perform their patriarchal duties (accepting and silently endure abuse) are worthy of their sympathy. And then yall call yourselves feminists.
Anon are you okay? I haven’t talked about Lyanna in ages. Unless you are counting the one about who my ideal fancast for her is. Secondly you are stupid if you believe I want Lyanna to marry Robert and put up with his degenerate behavior. Newsflash I stan Cersei Lannister. In my opinion killing Robert is easily the greatest deed Cersei ever did. No woman would ever put up with his trifling ass. In fact I would argue that any woman would plot against him to enjoy widowhood and I would cheer each one of them too. And please let’s not act like Rhaegar isn’t the same person like Robert. He’s a rapist just like Robert. As far as I am concerned they are the two sides of the same Henry the Eight figure. Robert fits the more well known side of him:
Fat
Indulges in pleasures way too much
Extremely cavalier to women
A pedophile (ex. Barra’s mother and Catherine Howard)
Rheagar fits the younger version:
Married to a Catherine of Aragorn figure (Elia)
Sees women as incubators
Obsessed with a prophecy just like Henry was obsessed with having an heir, to the point of disregarding their wife so ruthlessly.
Pursues an Anne Boleyn (Lyanna) figure to get a third head like Henry wanted an heir.
Anne Boleyn didn’t want his advances just like Lyanna who probably didn’t want Rhaegar’s advances either
Rhaegar plunged the entire kingdom into a civil war because he needed the third head. Very much like Henry VIII who flipped the bird at the Catholic Church which caused an uproar, all because he wanted a son.
A pedophile (ex. Lyanna and Catherine Howard)
Lyanna wouldn’t be better off with either of them. That’s the tragic part about her story. Her life would be miserable no matter what choice she made.
In this house we despise both Rhaegar and Robert, anon. You would know that if you actually bothered to go through my blog. Most likely this is a copy, paste type of anon hate. Pathetic. Next time be smarter on who you send your garbage to.
A 0/10.

The fact that Alicent surrounds herself with mentally unstable people, Cole and Larys, and is surprised when they act out, but continues to have them in her service. Also, despite seemingly being horrified, she did not turn Larys in for kinslaying and continued to have him as her ally. She benefitted from the death of Lyonel and Harwin by writing to her father and convincing him to return.
So her being privately upset at what Larys did doesn’t really mean anything if she doesn’t actually punish him and actually benefits from his crime. I would respect Alicent if she stopped with the holier than thou attitude and just owned up to the fact that she isn’t morally better than anyone else, and is willing to do whatever it takes to put her son on the throne. But since she doesn’t and still thinks she’s a better person than everyone, I hate her.
Sorry but she’s genuinely so infuriating. Her words inadvertedly got the father of Rhaenyra’s children (and her lover of 10 YEARS) killed and she’s harboring & protecting his killer and she STILL try to maim/murder Harwin’s son and look at Rhaenyra as if she’s the worst person in the world for... not raping her gay husband ?? I didn’t expect her to be friendly with Rhaenyra but Jesus Christ, a little humbleness would be nice.
I genuinely think that bk!Alicent would be similar in that she'd believe she was righteously getting the throne by any means for her sons. She also self victimizes at least twice in the record, once when she says Rhaenyra is too vengeful regarding her plan to kill Aemond and Alicent says "bastard blood she din war", the other time when she tasks her granddaughter to kill Aegon III. This is her expressing how righteous she believed herself to be, right towards her own death.
My problem with show!Alicent is that the show itself is unconsciously consciously making Alicent's abuse the motivation for us viewers to think how she thinks is truly correct, even though they will show Aemond and Aegon being much more violent and out of what little control she already didn't have over them. It's not so much that they are trying to say the greens were always the "good" guys or the protagonists so much that they are changing the female lead characters of canon (again, GRRM himself has described Rhaenyra as not like show!her) to reflect a reductive outlook on female nobles and how they try to obtain more power for themselves apart from their husbands and children by using the patriarchally given powers and privileges and what sort of access and influence they hold available to them. Alicent is much less intelligent, Rhaenyra much less defiant and self-focused. So we the audience witness these women as more...psychologically feeble than GRRM made them. Even with people pointing out the whole Rhaenyra wasn't as militaristically active or using mother's grief to take them out of this action that takes up the most spectacular parts of the Dance story. even with Rhaenyra of the show maybe being more "active", she still reads as psychologically tampered to me. Benevolent sexism on the writers' parts. Why can't women be fierce and or flawed, violent, etc. esp when part of it is a response to them not allowed the freedoms or privileges they are trying to obtain? It's further emphasized by both the inconsistencies, contradictions of characterization/dialouge, lore holes, AND how they tend to tack on actions, words, or traits at the last minute instead of developing these women they create...precisely because they didn't really think too hard about these women's motivations.
Alicent's and Rhaenys' "peacefulness-guide-violent-men" are both characterized as undebatable standards of morality when the situation they are in really doesn't call for it or allow it. So the whole "no war" business acts as an out-of-touch, condescending commentary the writers use to evaluate the moral characters of several characters' actions and push the responsibility of the war more on Rhaenyra than on most greens, too. How can we really look askance or hold the greens accountable when the show refuses to explore the many unprovoked sexist & homophobic and bastard-phobic comments each one makes BEFORE Luke's death? When Borros doesn't? When there is no Maris using Aemond's insecurity about his masculinity against him? They don't show what Rhaenyra/her family is up against, how it was never about "the realm's" safety or Rhaenyra's character but their own desire for power. Sure they'd be psychologically messed up by this proclivity for position/rule-following-above-personhood/love...that doesn't erase their power-seeking motivation being their top characterization either! Some say this is unrealistic of the bk!greens. I say, why? People are like this in the real world, and it'd be compounded by the greens being royals with 3 out of 4 male possible candidates in a monarchist feudal not-as-challenged patriarchal world!
Yes, they try to show how Alicent is hypocritical...but many times, they don't allow Daemon or Rhaenrya to directly challenge Alicent or Otto, like how in episode 3 Alicent says to Rhaenyra to not mind the politics of men...when Rhaenyra is heir...and these two are supposed to have been close enough friends for Alicent to supposed to have accepted that Rhaenyra's struggles with Aemma's state/her position/how Viserys treats her, etc. and not just dismiss them as her not removing herself from "man's business"...and Alicent at the same time saying Rhaenyra "must make the effort" to Viserys while she doesn't "make the effort" to let her supposed friend really try to confront her own detractors or think of ways to stifle their influence over Viserys. Much less acknowledge their threat.
So Alicent reads as more unpalatably, pathetic self righteous to people, instead of deliciously hypocritical. Because she's both shown to be so vulnerable and correct at times while the show switches up on us and shows her hypocrisies as if they are saying "see, we know who this woman is...but also, she's making some points".
No the actual text that Gyldayn writes is highly biased and probably ignores or definitely doesn't have critical information about certain events...but there is still the matter of this story having begun with a "disagreement" about the deserving of women's anger AND positions.
IDK if I made this very clear, but if at first you don't succeed...

i complained briefly about this on twitter (“briefly,” he says. Actually i complained about it for quite some time and with vigor) but i hate that godawful website because i am a verbose autist and a tweet is only about a sentence or two long. for me. so i will try to pursue a thought about it here from beginning to end, outside of the constraints of twitter’s character limit (which is targeting me personally)
i have tried on and off for hours to get my mind off this, but i was really upset and disappointed to find out that richard siken not only did write wincest himself but seems to approve of approaching incest from the angle of sexual fantasy in general — these tweets about it are really sticking in my craw, and apparently they are from an interview he did in 2015, but the whole thing just came up again and it’s not my favorite take!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the question about consequences — and “question” is generous, i know he’s already years ago come to the conclusion that whatever consequences exist as a result of such narratives do not matter — gets me bc it’s like, dude, i KNOW what the consequences are. from experience. i have lived with them all my life.
the cycle is as such: writers portray incest as mutual sexual deviance as opposed to the reality of it being violence. literature portrays it as such, pop culture portrays it as such, fanfiction portrays it as such, it is widely discussed as such — as an example, try really thinking about how often perceived promiscuity is blamed on “daddy issues,” and what that may imply. many people never have any personal experience with incest or with survivors and come to regard it as a distant sort of kink activity, or an imaginary, almost fun and racy sort of violence that happens to a distinct class of subhuman other totally segregated from human society. survivors are blamed because the dominant cultural narrative believes they are willing participants and not victims of rape, survivors internalize shame and do not come forward. survivors often come forward to partners who find their childhood trauma (incestuous abuse is most often CSA) arousing. the online support group i frequent has a recurring problem of lurkers who use DMs to sexually harass psychologically vulnerable victims of abuse while they are in crisis. society does not take us seriously because the violence we face is seen not as violence, but as a category of pornography.
furthermore, trying to say this makes me the bad guy. to frankly and clearly state the harm perpetuated against me and others by these cultural narratives & their continuation in every aspect of life is regarded as puritanical and Orwellian. nevermind that the proliferation of such ideas & narratives and my exposure to them left me terrified that my closest friends would think i was a pervert for disclosing sexual abuse from my parents, nevermind that I spent years being told by my abusers and society at large that i’d brought it on myself, nevermind that i’m continually surrounded by that rhetoric every day and continue to have salt rubbed in the already unbelievably painful wounds — some people are criticized for publishing wincest fic in ao3, and this is the truest sort of victim; surely someone who was merely raped by his father for years could not understand the pain and martyrdom of being called an asshole online. THIS is the real concern. upholding the secret and mystique around intrafamilial sexual violence for the sake of shippers’ enjoyment of a middling CW show from 2004 is how we will fix society, no matter how many incest survivors’ dignity we must sacrifice to make it happen
anyway. i think this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but trying to convince anyone that this stuff is even tangentially related to the experiences of real human beings who may see it and be hurt is a good deal like trying to tell people unicorns are real, in that they will laugh in your face.

**CW: mentioned child abuse and rape/sexual assault**
Okay, so Jamie’s like? Rebuilding his relationship with his dad? I guess? And like, I’m not judging Jamie for making this choice. He absolutely deserves a positive relationship with his father. But his father does not deserve anything with or from Jamie, and frankly, considering what we know of what Tartt Sr. was like while Jamie was growing up, I find it a little hard to believe that Jamie could have that relationship with his dad without constantly feeling uneasy or on edge or just generally not comfortable.
Season three was huge about forgiveness, even in places where it kinda sorta in my opinion was not deserved, and Tartt Sr. is a perfect example of this. There’s certain lines that, when crossed, there’s no coming back from it, and I think that you know, just maybe, verbal abuse, heavily implied physical abuse, and rape/sexual assault (not entirely certain how to classify what James did to Jamie in Amsterdam but it’s something along those lines) (and he may have done it via another person but that does not make it any better) are some of those lines? And no, I’m not actually asking that question. Those are absolutely, positively, 100% lines that there is no coming back from crossing.
So maybe Tartt Sr gets better, actually tries to be a good father. It’s too late, at this point, and even if Jamie really tried, I don’t think he could just put everything his father’s done to him in the past behind him, not while the man is still part of his life as a regular reminder. Even if Tartt Sr never did something fucked up again, he did way too many fucked up things in the past for him to ever be forgiven in any capacity. And addressing the fact that he seems to be in rehab, likely for alcohol addiction, I’d just like to mention that, like many other people have said on this site, Tartt Sr.’s addiction doesn’t excuse his actions. And frankly, considering the scale of what Tartt Sr. did to his son, his addiction can hardly even be used as an explanation. I don’t really think addiction can not even justify but explain the decision to take your 14-year-old son to the red light district and force him to lose his virginity to someone. Tartt Sr. is 100% still accountable for all his past actions, and being in rehab doesn’t change that. And furthermore, (again, like many others on here have pointed out) even though we as an audience know that Tartt Sr. was in treatment for something (it is, after all, not necessarily rehab), Jamie doesn’t. As he said, he hasn’t seen or spoken to his dad since Wembley. And sure, you could say that Jamie only texted his father because he hadn’t heard from him in a while and was worried he’d like. Died, or something. Considering his father used to be “on him after every match, about how played and how he sat on the bench when he didn’t play” (indirect quote from 2.2), it probably would have struck Jamie as strange that there was no contact a lot sooner. At the point of Mom City, it’d been over a year since Wembley. But Jamie hadn’t reached out in that time either, so his decision to do so now was definitely a product of his talk with Ted about forgiveness, which, again, isn’t something he should be giving to his father.
Jamie moving on and not letting Tartt Sr affect him anymore? I am all for that. Jamie deserves that much and way more. But (and this, of course, just my opinion) I don’t think Jamie having a relationship with Tartt Sr would allow him to ever be free of everything horrible that happened between them in the past. I think for Jamie to finally be able to move on with his life, it’s more likely he’d have to cut off Tartt Sr. entirely.
And I get that the theme of Ted Lasso is that everyone can improve. The only character who didn’t get a redemption of any sort is Rupert. But Tartt Sr., in terms of irredeemability, is at least on par with Rupert. They both crossed lines they can never uncross. But what I hate the most is that by showing Jamie actually having a nice moment with his father, they’re effectively kind of sort of saying that everything Tartt Sr did was okay, that it was something an apology could fix. That all it really was was him being a hard dad, and that maybe he was a little *too* hard at times, and he gets that now, and he’s sorry for that and he’s going to be better. That he’s always been proud of Jamie, even if he wasn’t great at showing it, and he just wants Jamie to be happy. (If that was actually true, Tartt Sr would be a lot more like Nate’s dad, but he’s not.) And that, what, the Amsterdam thing was somehow an acceptable thing to do to his son? That it was just a little mistake?
But everything Tartt Sr did wasn’t okay, and in no way will any of it ever be excusable. If all he had ever done was yell, maybe be a bit hard to please, that’s different. But he actively belittled his son, was so on him about every little stupid thing that Jamie literally quit playing for a period of time, even though it’s obvious he loves football, and even if the only physical abuse actually shown or mentioned was Tartt Sr. throwing that shoe at Jamie in the s1 finale and shoving him in the Wembley episode, it’s implied so heavily that it’s obvious that’s not the worst he ever did. And then, obviously, there’s what he did Amsterdam, which I’m pretty certain is statutory rape, although I may be wrong.
James Tartt Sr. is absolutely unforgivable. He does not deserve any sort of redemption. Jamie deserves healthier relationships that don’t have that kind of history looming over them.
There was that short moment, in Mom City, right before they showed Tartt Sr. in rehab, where it seemed like he had died, and I really, really, really wish they’d just killed him. Okay, that wouldn’t have really given Jamie any sort of closure, but the way they actually did write his storyline, I don’t think he’s getting the closure he deserves anyways. But Rupert facing retribution shows that the writers weren’t opposed to having an irredeemable character, and it’s not that hard to have two instead of one. James Tartt Sr. should’ve faced retribution too, not have gotten off easy somehow still having everything.

Don’t get me wrong I’m all for women empowerment and feminism (though as many have pointed out before on this app Rhaenyra isn’t really a fan of 🤫) but something about Team Green is really starting to appeal to me.
The complexity of Alicent and all of her relationships (platonic and otherwise *alicole*), Otto and his schemes (as a father he sucks but as a politician…🫠), the relationship between Aegon, Helaena and Aemond (Daeron too but he’s in Oldtown), the complex personalities of the three (I would like to point out that I do not support show!Aegon. I feel as though his character has thus far been wasted potential. Especially since while he was book wise an alcoholic and a cheater he wasn’t a rapist and he wasn’t putting the children of said rape in fighting pits). I am of the opinion that EVERYONE (some worse than others) got screwed over personality wise but geez 🙄.
I hate unnecessary violence and trauma against women but especially sexual trauma. We didn’t get a sex scene with Aemma and Laena but we did get the horrifying scene of Aemma’s medieval c-section, and of course the “GiRl BoSs fEMinISt" scene of Laena committing suicide. While there has been no sexual or implied sexual violence against Baela and Rhaena adding them to the fight scene with Aemond, Jace and Luke was unnecessary violence that they were forced to endure (while there father of course doesn’t even blink an eye to them bloody and bruised 🙄🫠). Every sort of sexual scene we have seen Alicent in has been her being abused in some way.
Rhaenyra was abandoned half-naked and vulnerable in a whore house (I would also like to point out that this is Rhaenyra’s first sexual experience of any kind) by the man we are meant to believe is the love of her life, and then is later chocked by the same man because of her unwillingness to immediately resort to war + the fact that said man was never completely trusted by his brother (I actually like Daemon but god has his character been screwed over).
Anyway…this was originally just supposed to be about how I was starting to see the appeal of Team Green but then I got carried away and now thinking about all of this I’m kinda pissed lol.
👏🏽Talking about this show does not bring out the best feelings 🤣
I’ve always liked the Greens(probably cause they remind me of the Lannisters and they were the house that I originally gravitated to when I first watched GOT).
I know people say that we are supposed to view Greens as the bad guys during the Dance, but to me, they are still sympathetic. Look at things from book!Alicent’s position and tell me you wouldn’t do the same thing🙃 You’d be a literal fool to side with Rhaenyra knowing your sons would always be seen as a threat to her and it’s already been proven that she has no qualms killing family(see Ser Vaemond which happened well before the Dance 😗)
While I disagree with many of the changes made in the show, the Greens (besides Aegon who they managed to make look worse than his book counterpart 🤦🏽‍♀️) are given much more complexity than Team Black as a whole.
Granted, the show has a problem with throwing everyone(the exception being Aemond who is Ryan Condal’s Daemon🤣) under the bus to prop up Rhaenyra, but Team Black characters have it bad*(ex. Laena being treated as the disposable Blackish woman and her girls being pretty props🫠).
Supporting Team Black because of “feminism” makes no sense considering Rhaenyra is about as feminist as Missy Anne(and that’s not hyperbole before anyone tries it because Queenie uses racism to justify ordering a potentially pregnant Nettles’ death🙃).
She’s not trying to break the wheel. She doesn’t even help other highborn women(see the Rosby and Stokeworth ladies) or her own stepdaughters(she herself would never agree to being just a queen consort like how she wants Baela to be😗)She’s not Dany.
She just wants to have occupy the head seat with the boys. She's not going to help any other woman get there 🤷🏽‍♀️
I'm really team-neutral, but the Greens are not nearly as bad as people make it seem and the Dance isn't as cut and dry either(both sides have good and bad characters with the main claimants being sh*tty people who very nearly get their entire family killed).

2x13, Houses of the Holy
Critical theory: Faith, miracles, and redemption.
Discussion question(s): What do we learn about Sam and Dean’s characters in relation to their respective belief or lack thereof? How does this tie in with the themes and motifs as we have defined them thus far? How do we feel about the introduction of angels as a concept, knowing what we know about the direction the show takes in this regard [for Iga, mostly just that they exist, for Kai perhaps some more detail?]?
Key quotes: Dean, “But angels? I don’t think so. [Why not?] Because there’s no such thing, Sam.”; Dean, “Mom used to say that angels were watching over us. In fact, that's the last thing she ever said to me… but she was wrong.”; Father Greygory “Some people need redemption. Don't they, Sam?”
Discussion: Episode of all time. Such a rich episode. Obsessed.
Dean doubting it so much at the beginning is so beautiful—he struggles so hard to believe there’s good in the world, because he’s suffered so much. The figures that were supposed to be watching over him didn’t, so he doesn’t wanna give this one a chance to let him down, to abandon him. Then he saw what he saw and doesn’t know what to believe, he’s shook. Could angels not just be the spirits of those who aren’t at rest? Gregory truly believed he was carrying out God’s will (and we're inclined to agree, he literally prevented pedophilia, rape, etc.). However, Sam was willing to kill a guy because the ‘angel’ told him to… and he’s supposedly so worried about turning evil. Killing someone before they do the bad thing is exactly what Dean is refusing to do. Or, he’s been trying to convince Dean to kill him before he goes evil, so maybe this is Sam’s way of putting him money where his mouth is, ie. convince himself it’s okay to kill someone before they do the bad thing, if you truly believe they will do the bad thing.
Dean is so scared to hope, to believe there is good. He promises to save Sam, but who will save him? :)
Re: belief or lack thereof. Juxtaposition of. Dean doesn’t trust good things, because he doesn’t want to be abandoned… because he hasn’t experienced good things. Sam has, he has experienced good things, so he can believe there’s good things out there. Makes it ironic that Sam is cursed with the demon shit, because Dean feels like he’s cursed.
Star student: Iga, Dean doesn’t want to give God an opportunity to abandon him. Iga, Sam is “fated to be the fucking devil or something.”
Notes: Kai and Iga are going insane over this episode and they don’t even know the half of it. I am eating glass. We quite like Sam in this episode actually (Jared did alright). Great use of Knocking on Heaven’s Door.
Further reading under the cut, contains spoilers for S5
