PSA: Winterfox/Requires Hate/Benjanun Sriduangkaew/Maria Ying
I'm starting to see recs for Benjanun Sriduangkaew crop up in fandom again, so here's your reminder that Benjanun Sriduangkaew, aka Maria Ying, is actually Winterfox/Requires_Hate, a well-known serial harasser, blackmailer and abuser who decided that the best thing to do with her multimillionaire heiress time and money is to do real and lasting harm to many communities and many writers (especially writers of color) that she saw as rivals.
with how fast things move online right now, I imagine she's banking on people just forgetting everything she pulled: please don't! But even if you won't deny her your attention, at least keep yourself safe and remember that her modus operandi used to be either love bombing people until they let slip something she then blackmailed them with, or literally decades of unhinged harassment.
feel free to share.

on Benjanun Sriduangkaew's past activity
Tumblr media
Incidentally, she may try to hide it these days but Winterfox/RequiresHate/Benjanun Sriduangkaew's circle was responsible for some of the worst dogpiling of Isabel Fall in 2020.
thread by the person who later originated the "year 1988 as Nazi dogwhistling" line and one of the earliest and most widespread "criticisms" of the story, complete with conspiracy theories about the author being a stealth TERF:

Shattersteel (Her Pitiless Command #3) by Benjanun Sriduangkaew
I want to start off by saying that this author is undoubtedly talented. They have a way with words that can truly paint a picture and build a world. There is no denying that. It is obvious just by reading the first few sentences that you are in for a well thought out and beautiful story.
That being said I felt that sometimes the description or detailed writing was a little long winded at times. There were several occasions I found myself forgetting or losing the plot within all extracurricular writing around what was going on. Was it beautiful? Absolutely. But it really drew me out of the story and sometimes stalled the progress.
The world and characters built in this trilogy (this is book three if you are unaware) was well thought out and something I hadn't really come across very often. That is what initially drew my attention to the story. I liked the concept and the way the world was a mix of science and magic was very much the type of thing that gets me excited to dive into. The way this author was able to add so much queer representation into the main thread of the story as well was something I think any one that identifies as such is always searching for in stories. This author shows you can have people all over the spectrum of gender and sexuality and have it not take away from a great story in the least. I think more people should strive for that when they write.
That being said, I felt the conclusion was a little anti-climatic for me. There were three books of build up that was leading to an inevitable moment and I felt that moment came and went in a blink. I was left wanting more in that sense. There was so much building to this pinnacle showdown that I, for one, felt a bit let down by the conclusion of that.
All in all the themes, emotions, and story were all very well thought out and portrayed. If you like sci-fi, fantasy type stories with some queer love and sex mixed into the intrigue and mystery of the main story line then I would absolutely suggest you give this trilogy a read!

would love to see anon's source for the claim that rin chupeco accused winterfox of telling her to get raped by dogs. i cannot find evidence of this anywhere. i don't think spreading unsubstantiated claims about someone is a responsible thing to do regardless of how much of an asshole they may or may not be
Here you go. Original is linked and sourced from Winterfox Fanlore page, but links decay, so you can see the archive. I'll screenshot the beginning of the thread for your convenience.

The usual rapejacketing of trans women by everyone’s favorite twitter user…Benjanun!
Lillith’s crime was supporting trans men.
I wonder what “joke” Lain made that made other queer people at her college deeply uncomfortable with her.

for posterity: benjanun sriduangkaew on people without healthcare dying from covid
Tumblr media
yeah, pretty much. they're bitter little freaks, and I'm pleased that 1) considering where most of them live, they'll probably get reinfected by COVID over and over and 2) will not ever amount to anything.
and 3) there's no free healthcare for what those reinfections will do to their bodies. What a pleasing world.

"Where you will fail, I shall succeed. All the burden you bear that you inherited from your mothers, it shall be put right. I can be your vengeance."
She bats uselessly against the possessed arm, hitting it hard enough to bruise.
. . . "I have waited for tenfold longer than you've been alive—more. It is time I take the fight to her. And to do that I require your part of her heart."
He adjusts the angle of his arm, the direction of the sword. But he takes his time, relishing the control, the power that allows him to forget the state of his physical coil, the ruin in which he abides.
His savoring gives her time to draw her gun and fire it, point-blank, into her left wrist.
She has never seen so much of her own blood, and she has spent nearly two decades in arenas. It douses everything: her legs, her front, the Heron. Her sword falls and its shadows gutter out. The Heron recoils, capable of shock after all. He still looks surprised when she shoots him in the face.
"I am," she whispers, "my own vengeance."

it's a funny stage in online trans discourse when the niece of the twelfth-richest man in Thailand, a woman accused of partial responsibility for the deaths of tourists who were inadvertently poisoned by insecticide and best known for her long, rich history of harassment - a woman who not too long ago was slinging "tr*nny" around like there was a government incentive for doing so - has become a guiding light for the lgbt community because of her flagrant hatred of trans men
