Hermit Thrush have one of my favorite bird songs. Love when they come back in the spring.
This guy was stitched onto a shirt pocket that is rags now, so I cut this guy off and now need to transfer him somewhere.

Fashion Week: Yanina Couture
SPRING-SUMMER 2024 PARIS - HAUTE COUTURE BACKSTAGE
(via Yanina Couture)
The YANINA house echoes the diverse beauty of women by narrating captivating tales through its "haute couture" collections. In the current season, Yulia Yanina's protagonist gracefully adorns wings, symbolizing resilience in challenging circumstances. The Phoenix bird's emblem is intricately embroidered with sparkling details, rhinestones, and ornamental feathers.
Yulia Yanina's contemporary portrayal of the phoenix-woman not only emphasizes feminine delicacy and vulnerability but also celebrates the resilience and zest for life. Whether clad in a sophisticated suit or an elegant dress, the wings on her back enable the heroine to undergo constant rebirth.
"The story behind this collection is quite unusual. I created it lying in bed because I couldn't walk after an operation. I was drawing and thinking: 'What magic tool could help me and other women who have undergone difficult operations, illnesses, life dramas? What will make you want to live again, to get dressed? How can I cover their scars and allow them to soar again?"
The mythical Phoenix bird holds legendary status, characterized by its sacred nature, brilliant plumage, and the remarkable ability to emerge anew from the ashes after death. Originating in fire, it serves as a symbol embodying the vitality of life, the concept of rebirth, and the promise of new beginnings.
The collection incorporates the house's customary fabrics, such as velvet, romantic chiffon, fishnet, and organza, complemented by voluminous elements and intricate handcrafted embroidery by the skilled artisans of the house. Silhouettes draw inspiration from the graceful curves of the female body. While black takes center stage in the color palette, gold, gray, and white play significant roles. A radiant touch is added with the inclusion of fuchsia. Innovative feather embroidery technologies have been introduced for this collection, showcasing a variety of techniques in every meticulously sewn detail.
Delicate laces elevate the opulence of each model, infusing them with heightened femininity and an airy quality. In stark contrast, tailored black suits with pronounced shoulders are meticulously crafted for women exuding power. The elongated black suits offer a surprising length. The motif of the Phoenix bird gracefully traverses the entire collection, shimmering in silver on jackets, gilded on dresses, with wings gracefully unfurling and floating on bell skirts. The grand finale of the collection features elegant dresses paired with distinctive feathered coats in three distinct designs.

I’ve been working on a set of embroidered ornaments and I figured I’d share them here because they’re also technically art?

Haven’t posted my own stuff in a while! I just started uni and I’m still getting the hang of time management and all that, but my mid semester break has me back into embroidering! I designed a few pieces that I haven’t put onto fabric yet but I’m very excited for them! In the meantime, here’s some WIPs that I’ve been doing lately (these are NOT my original designs, they are from kits- one from Kmart and the other from Typo. When I’m busy with other things I’ll buy kits and edit them so I don’t have to think as hard about designs)

Zari work is an intricate art of weaving threads made up of fine gold or silver. These threads are further woven into fabrics primarily made up of silk to create intricate patterns. Zari thread is widely used for weaving, but more selectively in embroidery.
The designs made in zari work are so precise and beautiful that apart from the monetary value of these threads, the overall fabric also gets rich and royal look. Traditionally zari thread was formed and it was used as an embellishment of the royal attire.
