About some recommendations... I've searched high and low for yandere content all my life and I can only recommend you VNs. I'm sure you already know some of the big names like Dear Hatchet Man, 14 Days with you, and Sunny Day Jack, which are great! Don't get me wrong! But there are so many hidden gems, like...

Forcefully Yours - Riker: Two love interests, a lot of replayability, and beautiful directing. The use of art in this game is super creative, you have no idea. It's beautiful, just try it, please. It's also free and in development (but the first route is nearly finished!).

Love Lock: This leans heavily into the horrorporn/murdersim genre, but if that isn't a deal breaker, I'd say to give it a try! It's very dynamic, and has a ton of characters and choices. It's just a demo, though.

Lovers Trophy: Another horrorporn/murdersim game, not very "yandere", but I'm whipped for Wade and his yandere ending. Heart eyes. Has two characters, a nice story, and great art for just $1.68!

Blackberry Winter: The demo isn't even out and I'm already screaming. It has a hermit!! in the!! woods!! That's literally my type! I just know this (murdersim) game is gonna be great.

There are others, but these are the ones that come to mind. Also, people always recommend Samurai of Hyuga when the topic of yandere ROs comes up, but I haven't played it so I can't say if it's good or not.

As you can see, yanderes are usually found in mudersim games, since you can romance a serial killer who either kills you or becomes obsessed with you, cuz you're different <3

Would you ever consider writing about smaller VN's like See Thru Need a Friend, Blackberry Winter, Restart Heart and ones like those?

So Friend has actually been recently added to my writing list 😊.

As for the other's you've mentioned i would definitely consider it. It's just a matter of how much characterization i have to go on. Part of the reason see thru is already on the list despite still being pre demo is the ammount of info @itsyaboi-43 has provided.

So I'm certainly not opposed to adding other VNs to my writing list. I just need to do kore looking into on them.

Hi Eb-hime, like you I'm a vn developer, but it's taking me time to finish it. I was wondering about sales. Now, I saw a tweet of yours about how hard it is to get noticed on Steam. I get many factors play into this though. However, I was wondering, have you made okay sales? Like how much have you made with your recent game? I have no intention of becoming a full time dev, but I'd like to create some visual novels. I know reviews are limited, but how are sales? Thanks so much for answering!

VN sales aren’t great in general. I usually break even on all my Steam releases (apart from A Winter’s Daydream and AIdol, which both sold abysmally lol). However, the only releases of mine that actually made a decent amount of money (i.e. they recouped their sales and made a significant profit on top of that) are Sweetest Monster and Blackberry Honey. The Language of Love also did reasonably well.(Incidentally, all three of those stories have 18+ scenes… So I think there’s a bit of a recurring trend in which stories sell better than others…)While I usually make back all my expenses in about a month of sales, it’s important to note that sales on Steam usually drop off sharply after the first week or so. The first week is where your product will get the most exposure simply for being new; after that sales dwindle to a trickle, until there’s a site-wide sale, after which they get another bump in traffic. That’s why it’s important to try and get a lot of reviews/exposure in the first week of release, to (hopefully) get more attention, which will further generate more sales.If reviews are very low after the first week, it’s safe to assume the release will be a failure. After that, it’ll be hard to recoup losses even as months (or years) go by…

This is why I try to keep all my stories at relatively low word counts, and limit the number of characters and background art needed. I’ve also never worked with voice actors before, and I don’t intend to do so in the future. VN sales are usually too low to justify it, and though I can just about break even now, if I had even more expenses I don’t think I’d be able to do so…It’s a tough market! Since Steam is being inundated with more and more VNs, and more and more Japanese VNs are being TLed (which are generally more popular than EVNs), I imagine a lot of EVN devs struggle just to make the money they spent back. I might be in a slightly better position than some, since I’ve been doing this for a few years and already have a bit of a consumer base, but it’s pretty hard for me, too.

I have a whole bunch of VNs available, including the bloody yandere romance story The Way We All Go and a cute love letter to Vocaloids and virtual idols, AIdol.
