Summary:
After the war, Harry’s life falls to shambles. Each day revolves around an intense battle with his mental health, and there’s nothing that Ron or Hermione can do to help him.
That is, until Hermione teaches Harry how to knit.
Fast forward five years, and Harry is the proud owner of a renowned knitting shop in Diagon Alley, The Whomping Willow Woolery. Christmas season is upon him, and the shop is busier than ever. So, is it really a surprise that Draco Malfoy wanders in looking for a gift for his mother?
Cue awkward meetings, fluffy knitting lessons, a truly horrible scarf, a cat named Stockinette who is readily obsessed with Draco, and falling in love with one’s worst enemy.

Instinctively, Harry took both of Draco’s icy hands in his own and immediately began sinking into the sensation of skin on skin. “Draco… you’ve somehow become one of the most important people in my life over the past fifteen days, and, frankly, I feel like Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without seeing you.”
Draco blinked at him earnestly. “You mean that?”
Harry let out a soft pitter of laughter. “Of course I mean it. In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying to find every excuse to hang out with you. I just can’t stop thinking about all the years we wasted hating each other.”
“No, I think those years were important,” Draco murmured, looking down at their hands intertwined. “Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are.”
Staring at Draco, whose pale skin was flushed in the dim amber glow coming from the living room lamp, Harry felt a wave of courage coursing through him, and he realised that if he didn’t say something right here, right now, then he never would.
Harry slowly removed his right hand from where it had been resting on Draco’s and moved it upwards, cupping Draco’s cheek. The softness and warmth of his face underneath Harry’s calloused fingers was addicting, and although Draco’s pale pewter eyes had gone wide with skepticism, Harry reassured himself that he was making the right decision.
If not now, when?
“Draco,” Harry began, his voice barely above a soft whisper, “I… I have something to tell you.”
“Oh. Okay,” Draco said, a look of uneasiness shifting across his face. “What is it?”
Harry took in a deep, shuddering breath. “Have you ever felt tethered to someone, as though there was a string connecting the two of you together? It’s like I’m on a yarn winder, and no matter how fast or slow I’m spinning, the other person is winding the same way.”
Draco’s eyes flicked upwards, catching Harry’s. “Yes, I know the feeling. Who are you winding with?”
“You, Draco,” Harry murmured, his heart thudding against his chest. “I’m winding with you.”
Draco shifted forward, one hand moving to Harry’s chest and the other to the nape of Harry’s neck. “Well, that’s awfully convenient.”
Harry swallowed thickly. “Why?”
“Because I’m winding with you, too.”
Draco’s words echoed in Harry’s ears repeatedly until they nearly lost meaning. Sitting so close to Draco, Harry could make out things that he’d never quite noticed before: his eyelashes the colour of white gold, a dark spot on the bottom left of his blush coloured lips, and the barely visible trail of sandy freckles dotting the bridge of his sharp nose.
And, instantaneously, Harry knew that none of this had been a sudden, spur-of-the-moment development. He’d been, in fact, falling in love with Draco Malfoy for years. One of his most painful memories, that of the Astronomy Tower all those years ago, crossed his mind, and he realised that he’d seen then the same version of Draco that he was seeing now; scared, and with a lot to lose.
The warmth from Draco’s palm felt steady against Harry’s chest, reassuring him that this was real ― that Draco was here, in his flat, saying that he felt the same way.
Harry leaned forward, their foreheads pressed together, and let out a soft breath. “May I kiss you?”
Pulling back just enough so that they could look at each other again, Draco reached up and gently took off Harry’s glasses, placing them on the table. “Now you can.”
Their movements weren’t rushed, instead coming together with a softness that Harry hadn’t expected. As their lips met, Harry could feel the rest of the world fall away. The only thing that mattered was right in front of him.
It wasn’t fireworks, as first kisses were so often described in Muggle media. Instead, kissing Draco was like a thousand beating wings rushing towards the sun, a vibrant warmth spreading through his chest as they held each other close. There was a certain comfort in Draco’s slightly chapped lips, as though Harry had known and been intimate with them for years now. He supposed he had, to a degree, having memorised the form of Draco’s lips from all the way across the Great Hall throughout his time at Hogwarts.
In some ways, it was just like coming home.

Harry returns Draco’s wand. But it it will not work for him, so Harry offers to teach Draco wandless magic. Harry lives in a cottage in the country and drives, I think it is a little orange car. When Draco visits he flies his broom. There is a garden party, Pansy and Blaise tease Draco. After several drives in Harry’s car they are falling for each other. Harry tells Draco about his aunt and uncle. They watch movies and eat pizza.

TWWW is a soft, lovely, and romantic fic that is all about healing and falling in love. As Draco begins to heal and learn to knit, he finds so much joy and care in Harry’s shop and among his friends. Harry, Ron, and Hermione have honest and direct conversations about mental health that feel genuine and beautiful. Plus: a small kitten and all the plush knitwear you can imagine. You’ll fall in love too as you read along.
🚗 Through the Night

Ginny tells herself that she's content with the way things are. Luna proves her otherwise.
Luna was softly humming along, and Ginny drank in the sound, not wanting the moment to end. If it was up to her, they would drive through the night, not stopping until they reached the edge of the world.
This fic feels so gentle. Ginny is playing with the Holyhead Harpies, the loud and boisterous world of Quidditch and Luna is off doing her peaceful thing on her own on the edges of town. This is a delicate and at times painful telling of past trauma and how we can find love and beauty even as we keep going through it.
💐 Nothing More Than That

Harry goes to a florist on New Year’s Day to buy a bouquet for Molly. He leaves with an unexpected date.
“Nothing more than that” is exactly what Harry wants. This lovely slice of life/getting together ficlet brings a smile to my face every time I reread it. Fay has created a lovely little florist shop, and in it is the handsome florist Draco Malfoy and the tentative customer Harry. Happy New Years to us, indeed, and may 2021 have some of the cheer this fic brings.
🧵 Long Tale Cast On

When Sirius and Lily decide to start a craft night in the yarn store in an effort to draw in a younger crowd, they look to the bar across the street to provide refreshments. Sirius is taken with bar owner Remus from the start, but neither James nor Lily's encouragement is enough to bridge the chronic pain and anxiety that conspire to keep them apart. With time, effort, and some terrible knitting, Sirius and Remus eventually find that life has a strange way of working out.
"The thing you need to understand about Sirius is that he's very worried about making mistakes, about getting things wrong. When he's talking about knitting he's confident in his skills, so it comes easily. When he's talking to people about other things, especially with people that matter to him." Here she taps Remus' arm just lightly again. "His fear gets the better of him."
Queer joy, found family, and deep love are key to Long Tale Cast On. With a dear Sirius who is effusive and anxious and incredibly kind and a Remus who is funny and charming, and Lily who is so loving, and Dorcas and Marlene (yes, Dorlene!!)... This fic is one that will make you fall in love with Wolfstar all over, and with what it means to care for one another even with all the hard stuff. An iconic Bluefay fic!

Hermione buys a bookshop after the war.
As though Fay wasn’t already impressive enough with her writing, she has also offered us this lovely illustration. Featuring a big and well-loved Crookshanks, a joyful Hermione, and the AU I didn’t know I needed, this piece is one that will certainly make you smile.

6. 3 characters that inspire me:
Ohh quite a few! I do love myself a superhero movie but I’m often inspired by the “regular guy” type:
1. Leslie is such a fun, charming and relatable character. I love her passion and enthusiasm, her loyalty to her friends, her competence and commitment to what she does, and her positive vibes in general. She’s a great leader and an attentive and present friend. Her friendship with Ron, despite their obvious differences, is one of the most inspiring relationships I’ve ever seen in a show, and my favourite thing about P&R.
2. Joe is the ultimate “regular guy”: talented and passionate, he could have become a big star but chose another path, one that people will often consider a “waste of talent”. But his passion for music and his appreciation for the simple things in life made such a big difference on other people’s lives, especially the kids he taught, and I think that’s really moving.
3. No explanations needed, I think everyone who’s read the books or watched the movies agrees Sam is the true hero of LOTR. His devotion to Frodo and his modesty make him such a lovable character. I wish we all could have a Samwise, the Brave beside us!
9. 3 things I like doing on a rainy day:
- reading fic curled up in bed with my 🐶
- treating myself with any kind of comfort food: soup, pizza, hot chocolate, etc
- movie/tv show marathon!
