tell me about the bro strider abuse

semi comprehensive alpha dave post CW for child abuse (lot of kinds) and disordered eating and drugs. shout out to everyone i've messaged with about david because compiling this i could refer to things i already said that i saved for future reference and now not have to do it all over again

PART 1: in the mind of david strider

one of the tidbits i had about tradbro strider was that i don't actually think he was a real offending pedophile (refer to bro strider paraphilic disorder concept) and i don't think he was physically 'assaulting' dave other than putting him in the dubiously fetishistic films and keeping him in an environment with inescapable sexual undertones. this would probably feel real isolating for dave because he wouldn't feel like he could relate to his idea of straightforward csa victims and probably wouldn't recognize it consciously at all for a long time because if he explained it out loud from his perspective, he would think it sounded silly... anyway, you just know he has a warped sense of boundaries and what's appropriate. sense of healthy closeness and displays of affection also very warped but this is just a given. growing up repressing basically everything and knowing really nobody else in real life leaves only a few directions to channel all of his feelings toward, himself and his bro. all of his positive feelings rely on validation from him and all of his negative feelings will be associated with him but then directed at himself because there's nowhere else for it to go, and he knows that he needs his bro to be happy with him if he's to have any of his needs met. and the primary ways to make him happy are to perform well in physical fighting and to comply with the filming (regardless of if he understands what it is or not), picking up on the appropriate courses of action to take in different scenarios based on recognizing the patterns between his behaviors and the way he's rewarded

i think wanting to be seen as desirable, having a deep knowledge that looking younger results in better treatment, and being generally discouraged from eating by his bro via food restriction gives dave an eating disorder. he could eventually be a purger but i think he would take pride in not needing that in order to maintain his body. he would try not to acknowledge the roots of these thoughts, or outwardly play it off as wanting to be in shape for fighting in some way, or some other method of denial so that he wouldn't feel emasculated by partaking in "girly behavior". this doesn't stop him from feeling the need to be prettier than the people around him. i think sometimes he'd feel that his life would be easier if he were a girl, but addressing these thoughts would make him extremely distressed and dysphoric. i talked about it once but the old discussion was probably more accurate because i was thinking about it harder at the time

the eating behaviors would subside slightly with time but persist into adulthood. the desire to be wanted and paid attention to would get worse, and he'd need to cement the belief that he was better than everyone else to cope with adult life. as everyone has collectively decided he would do drugs and whatever for confidence and escapism among other things

we zoom in to him nearer to the start of the dirk introduction... his heaps of riches (not actually as much money as he would like people to believe, but still always teetering on really wealthy). his house is clean besides dust and largely empty in the many stagnant, unused rooms as opposed to the suffocating mess that is his bro's apartment. many unnecessary displays of wealth and status scattered about that nobody will actually really see except for dirk (too young to know or care) or maybe some really special girls he cares enough to show when he brings them home

PART 2: in the mind of dirk strider (and also still david)

i don't think david would be too terrible of a parent in the younger years, save for some mild baby shaking and accidental neglect and screaming at the baby sometimes and letting it "cry it out" every time there was a crying

dirk has girl parts to me and david naturally would raise him as a girl. dirk eventually expressing deviation femininity would be subtly upsetting to david, being another family member being naturally more inclined to masculinity than him. this of course wasn't happening, but he isn't very good at interpreting people's actions or intentions correctly. he makes a lot of assumptions because he was raised having to guess all of his bro's thoughts, always thinking people are hiding things from him. dirk getting older and growing into a person would be a lot less easy for david to handle than it was when dirk was a little accessory baby. he would resemble his bro so much naturally and david would resent him and how easy it was for him, finding it unfair he had to go through it again but now have to take full responsibility for himself AND the other party. david is not very inclined to being responsible for or about anything and would hate to admit to wrongdoing because, in his eyes, he's incapable of it

not learning emotional regulation and letting this fester doesn't do him much good, especially now that he has other things to project his feelings onto. little things would accumulate, and having little real empathy he wouldn't truly understand that dirk as a child wouldn't have the same reasoning skills as him, and he would get real angry at points. but he couldn't stand his kid who resembles his bro so much to him in his subconscious being upset with him, so he'd (especially drunk) break down and apologize and sometimes lose touch with who dirk actually was, conflating dirk with his bro. he wouldn't not care for dirk himself though, and it wouldn't be all about the begging for validation and comfort. the caring would just often seem to be overshadowed

i don't have to explain the emotional incest implications

either way, dirk would end up similarly repressed, but differently from david his adolescence would be very inconsistent. he'd also assume his bro's feelings a lot, but would feel responsible for regulating them while david as a child had felt that his bro was the most capable and reliable person in the world. being parented by dirk would be very comforting to david, but in moments of clarity he would realize that what he was doing was wrong. i imagine at this time he was unsuccessfully and half-assedly trying to hide relapses, but dirk wouldn't confront him about it because there was nothing he could do. it would be easier not to talk about it. the guilt and self-hatred would just drive him further to needing the confidence and escapism even more. house reeks of self loathe. #cycle. he wouldn't be physical with dirk either except for being weirdly touchy when he was on substances or having a breakdown

TL;DR they both are forever seeking validation from each other but will be miserable every day no matter what . and their relationships with other people are messed up forever but its NOT because theyre having gay sex like SOME OF YOU say. this post may be edited in the future or will have things added to it i didnt proofread it im not going to either ok im pressing post now annd click
