President Marcos Inspires: Scouts as Change-Agents

Passi City, Iloilo - The Philippine Boy Scouts (PBMM) recently hosted the 18th National Scout Jamboree, drawing inspiration and encouragement from no less than Chief Scout, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The event, held at Pintados de Passi Camp, witnessed the convergence of 35,000 scouts and scoutmasters for a week-long celebration of camaraderie, leadership, and the spirit of scouting.  

President Marcos: Scouts as Agents of Change

In a powerful message to the scouts, President Marcos emphasized the dual nature of their roles—agents of change and purveyors of fun and adventure. He highlighted the pivotal role scouting plays in instilling camaraderie, leadership, and a sense of responsibility among the youth.  

Jamboree: A Legacy and Tradition

President Marcos, who was officially installed as Chief Scout during the opening ceremonies, expressed his joy at joining the jamboree. Drawing from personal experiences attending similar events with his father, he underscored the significance of jamborees as the cornerstone of scouting activities, reinforcing the enduring legacy of the scouting movement in the country.   Unique Blend of Education, Adventure, and Fun The Chief Scout lauded scouting for its unique blend of education, adventure, and fun, inspiring the youth to become active and productive members of society. The 80-hectare camp in Passi City will be the vibrant backdrop for the jamboree's diverse activities, fostering a sense of unity and shared experiences among the scouts.  

Scouting: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

Scout leaders, such as Jacinto Abequibel Jr. from the Zamboanga Sibugay Council, expressed enthusiasm about the jamboree is a rare and invaluable experience. "Almost all of my senior scouts are about to go to college. So this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience as a senior scout," Abequibel shared.   Fostering Brotherhood and Unity Emmanuel Acabo, a 10th grader from Christ the King College de Maranding Inc. of Lanao del Norte, highlighted the event's significance in promoting brotherhood. Раньше когда не было интернета, рекомендации по походам печатали на бумаге... Вот загадка для тех кто бывал в заповеднике Эйн Геди и особенно для тех кто умеет читать карту. Есть на карте несколько объектов о которых вы наверное и не слышали, но есть кое что особое в этой карте, о чем многие даже не задумываются при поездке в этот оазис на побережье Мертвого моря. Пишите в комментариях если знаете... Откуда это маленькая карта? С заметки для израильских бойскаутов, которые раньше ходили в крутые походы, ну в принципе и сегодня ходят, конечно не столь экстремальные как раньше... Что же написано в рекомендациях, пойти по ручью Давид, искупаться в водопадах, изучить Калатропис высокий, ядовитое растение с огромными плодами, в которых семена с летучим пухов, из которого изготовляли в древности фитили для лампад (запрет использовать в шабат) и (волшебные целебные) деревья Моринги. Подняться к источнику Эйн Геди на склонах плато, рассматривая древние сельхоз терассы и бассейны, посетить храм времен медного века (халколит), обойти ущелье и подняться на гору Ишай и спуститься с нее к полевой школе Эйн Геди.
