I think Astrid chose to keep that scar.

Think about it: she and Eadwulf are Volstruckers, well-trained and so very useful. Would a Cure Wounds back in Rexxentrum really be all that terrible an expense? A big burn like that could limit her range of motion - more importantly, burns are ugly. Burns are nasty things, and hers is fairly visible, which could make her easy to identify, potentially less liable to earn trust of a mark. True - she is a mage, an adept one, and could easily disguise herself, as she and Wulf do in Nichodranas. But it seems like a fair amount of extra work when she could have just... not lived with it.

And yet: burn down her neck (and a bit on her face if Liam's Halloween cosplay is to be believed).

Why? Maybe to remember how Bren had snapped and she would not. Maybe something to remind her of what she'd given up for her ambition. Maybe a badge of bitter victory, that she was the star pupil now (at the cost of her friend and lover). Perhaps she just thought it would look intimidating, and ensure her foes did not underestimate her. Or it could be she declined the choice in the moment, to try and be what Trent wanted her to be. Does she regret keeping the scar? Does she hide it, when given the chance? Archmage of Civil Influence, bearing a burn from the hero of the Mighty Nein? Or does she wear it proud, unflinching, knowing better than most mages how magic feels on her skin? (What does Wulf think when he sees it?)

(The alternative is that Trent made her keep it, as a lesson, as a warning. And... I'd rather give her a little more agency.)

yeah, carina already said, technically they're both children in Sweater Weather, but we didnt want to do a story line for 11-year-olds having crushes... so prom it was and we just aged them up to fit that. also, I doubt I can make myself look like an 11-year-old...
