Sexuality Headcanon: Bisexual!! God people are hot. I think he found out early on he was bi (like 15-16) and was a little jarred about it, at first, simply because he grew up with the Wu Shi and had no idea he could even be bisexual, but it didn't haunt him. Nightwolf's down-to-earth humility and dry remarks + Lao's Cockiness and sarcasm remind me a bit of MK1's Raiden and Lao. A NOTP I have with said character: I heard Lao and Liu were cousins??? Not sure if that's true, but also, they seem like besties to me. I don't see the chemistry, personally. That, and also. People ship him with Jade?? I personally like Jade and Kotal so I'm not too big a fan on that one. A random headcanon: Messy as hell. But not as in, like, his room or anything, that remains decently neat, just his way of going about things. The type of guy to sleep almost late every morning and wake up in a hurry, he's still slipping his pants and shoes on as he steps out of his bedroom. The type of guy to multitask and yes, it works, but it makes other people nervous because from an outside perspective it looks like he's precariously juggling a bunch of tasks. He's confident in himself, and what he's doing though. And most times, things blow over well. In fact, most of the time, things only end in disaster when he's being nagged or distracted. Best to let Lao do what Lao does: Lock in and run around for three hours doing a bunch of tasks because he procrastinated for too long. General Opinion over said character:

I relate to him a lot, actually. His bravado and confidence that often get criticized as being "too much" his desire to be more than someone's second choice, more than just "Liu Kang's best friend", and his overall vibe are something I point at the screen and go ME!! ME FR!! At. But also apparently, he's lazy as hell and like. Me too for fucking real. I'm a class-S procrastinator it's actually a problem. Anyway. He's like my third-favorite MK character. Raiden and Kotal unfortunately take up first and second (that order may change, it always ends up doing so in like a week). I RELATE AND HE MAKES ME LAUGH AND HE'S MY MAIN IN MK.

i desperately need your sweetest headcanons of ez and rayla being Siblings

Mandatory Rayla&Ezran brotp tag drop here & first some rambly meta cause like, a lot of this is based on the concept(s) of Ezran and Rayla fundamentally being more like each other than either of them are like Callum

Like they both grew up friendless (whereas Callum seems to have a lot more ease in actually interacting with new people & I've always HC'd him having less friends out of choice, cause those potential ppl didn't get along wit his brother) and feeling perpetually different, they both (like Claudia) take on their parents' previous paths and feel the weight of it. They also tend to have a lot of similar esque insecurities and hangups ("I feel like I'm letting everyone down" 3x03 —> "I failed them, I let them all down" 3x04 / "It's not fair you have to go through this alone" 5x02 —> "I knew I had to be strong alone" in 5x04 / self blame tendencies with "You knew? I'm an idiot! I should've figured it out" 2x08 —> "Ugh, I'm such an idiot. I should've figured it out" 1x09) and are both very much bleeding hearts. They're also willing to pivot away from prior missions (bringing Zym home) for causes they see as more worthy in a lot of ways — going home to rule (the individual collective) and freeing Phyrrah (the individual stranger) — even if that separates them from others and/or puts them more at risk, cause they're just loyal to causes and ideals and self-imposed responsibilities tethered to those concepts like that? I love them

Like they both are like Callum — Ezran is emotionally open and inclined towards vulnerability, like him, which Rayla is not, and Callum and Rayla, esp in arc 1, take on responsibilities that Ezran do not & all their stuff with adoptive dads and communication etc etc. — but they're also more similar to each other than they are to him. More on that here & here + bonus S5 hammering that in more than ever (Rayla going with Ezran's plan in 5x05 anyone?)

Now onto the actual headcanons

Rayla doesn't have a lot of patience for games (cards, chess, etc.) and will be a sore loser/give up when playing with just about anyone else (including Callum) but she can never say no to Ezran over it, and he's so earnest/having such a great time she can never be a total grump when they do play games together

Ezran is the one who primarily took care of her Shadowpaw, for obvious reasons, in the castle stables until she returned, hence why sweetie pie was waiting for her & ready for the Lux Aurea trip

The little archangel lunaris on his backpack was absolutely chosen with her in mind <3

Both Rayla and Ezran possess an abundance of faith in other people, and this is shown best when they're being supportive of or defending one another ("She'll know what to do" —> "He can do this, we have to believe in him" —> "She's alive. And wherever she is, she loves you too")

Rayla weaving a little braid into his hair and having Ezran weave one into hers as well because braids are for love and family, and they are certainly both to one another

This shitpost, which is really just them getting stuck on and continually adding to dumb bits for each other to laugh at

Playing pranks back and forth on Soren and sometimes on Callum

Mostly they just tag team chores like "making sure Callum has eaten and slept and left his study recently" / keeping their favourite mage out of his head

Rayla giving Ezran stealth lessons and Ezran having Rayla bake jelly tarts with him

They always insist on being on the same team when it comes to snowball fights at the Banther Lodge

Ez loves to infodump about certain things and Rayla loves to let him, especially since his trains of thought and ramblings are a bit easier for her to follow than his brother's (most of the time)

Rayla having Ezran teach her how to notice things about illusion animals so she can have an easier time telling the difference (Soren teases her about it and she socks him in the stomach)

This isn't really so much of a headcanon as it is a canon observation but in battle sequences Callum doesn't really usually focus (outside of when he's using said magic to protect Ezran) on getting Ezran away from the danger, instead trusting Rayla to do so — and she always does (1x06, 1x08, 1x09, 2x04, 5x09)

Because she's just his friend and not his subject (or for now, an official member of his council the same way), Ezran finds himself seeking out when he just needs to have dumb kid fun, and Rayla is always down to help him

On that note she's very good at knowing when he needs space vs when he's okay being fussed over (Callum, Opeli) and telling people that even when he may not be able to express it himself because non-verbal times / feeling overwhelmed

Whenever they go on roadtrips in the future, Rayla does her best to bring special snacks around for him (and teach him how to forage, which animals can help him with too)

Eventually when Ezran is a little older, Soren needles him about learning how to defend himself, and Ezran dreads having to hold a sword and initially refuses. But Rayla plops down beside him and talks him through it and reaffirms that they just always want to make sure he's safe, and that's what gets him to come around to the idea

Ezran and Rayla both being physically affectionate people — Rayla slinging her arm along his shoulders, Ezran often grabbing her hand as a sign of support (most often the one she was going to lose to the binding) and squeezing gently, like a reminder that they're both still here and everything's okay and/or going to be alright

Rayla tears up when she realizes that Ezran is finally taller than her, much to his mild annoyance and amusement

Ezran helps Rayla with her proposal to Callum, and does not tell her (or his brother) that Callum is also planning to propose lmao

Favorite thing about them: I just love his whole personality loll. He's a crazy, funny little guy that I think is really cool

Least favorite thing about them: Nothing. Only when he gets really mischaracterized by official writers who don't understand him, which happens A LOT

Random headcanon: He can do ballet and it's because it's something Talia taught him while he was growing up in the league and being trained to learn many other things. He's a skilled professional at it now because of this and also bonds with his sister Cass over it and will sometimes even join her in her dancing. He also tries teaching Jon too, which can become fun for them both, and his other friends sometimes as well whenever they get curious or don't actually understand it that much like they think they do. Damian also owns a pair of green ballet slippers, but usually keeps them put away in his closet to keep them safe and clean and only takes them out when he really does want to use them.

Unpopular opinion: Okay sooo, a lot of people believe that Talia's character just gets only more ruined because of Damian's existence or whatever, but I don't believe that at all. Damian may be her son and is big part of her life because of it, but his character itself has nothing to do with hers like that at all when it comes to hateful writers choosing to write her horribly and just as another evil, lunatic villain and whatever else. Some people even say that he stole her story, but he did grow up with her during those 10 years of his, so of course he's gonna have the same life she dealt with and is also gonna have to get through certain issues from it now too because of it. But the point is that if anyone's gonna get blamed for Talia's usual trash characterisation, it should be the writers who hate her, NOT Damian who has many writers of his own who don't even treat him that well or like him that much at all either just like with Talia. Trying to pick on him is never going to fix anything about her. If Talia's ever gonna get anything better that she deserves in comics and other things, it needs to be done by writers who actually have care about her character and don't have anything weird against her that just only causes bad intentions of messing her up and then THAT'S what will finally start doing justice for her. And this not meant as an argument towards anyone or whatever btw, this is just me stating my opinion and beliefs about the whole thing

Song I associate with them: Self love by Metro Boomin & Coi Leray (Mostly because even though Damian may always put on a very confident act and always seems so prideful of himself a lot of the times, he actually has a lot of insecurities underneath all of that and doesn't actually always think so great of himself as a person)

I just LOVE the way Gleb Melinkov draws him and gives him his Arab features without holding any of it back as well! He even gives him long lashes (longer than Flatline's even, which I noticed while looking at another panel from this series!), which I really love too!!

Favorite thing about them: I really always liked his leadership style, especially in the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon, which I grew up with

Least favorite thing about them: Only when he's potrayed as a dumb, clumsy guy in some canon stories just to lift up other characters and put them in a bigger spotlight instead. It makes no sense because he's a professional acrobat and always has been that way since he was a little kid, so how could he ever be so trippy all over the place as if there are invisible banana peels getting in the way everytime?! And he is very smart, especially with all of the important experience he has from his many years of hero work, so he's not dumb either and if he was, he wouldn't have made it so far with this kind of life because of it or ever get much done like he did because he has to overly depend on others knowledge

Favorite line: "Titans Go!"

Brotp: Dick and Starfire, Beast boy, Raven, Cyborg (I know he's friends with many others too, but this is the group I grew up with and am more attached to, so they're my fave to see together)

Otp: Dickkory because they bring the best out in eachother and have so much love for one another too

Notp: DickBabs because I just don't think they really fit that well together at all and most times Barbara just makes Dick feel bad in a lot of ways with how she usually treats him in a romantic relationship, and that's not a healthy thing to deal with at all. And then there's also Batcest and Slade x Dick (which I don't even get at all because Slade is just such a horrible, gross and very toxic guy)

Random headcanon: Years ago, back when he would used to have long hair still, he one time had it tied up in a ponytail and then a villain chopped it off in half while fighting him. Dick was pissed and really kicked their butt for doing that

Unpopular opinion: People always think of Dick as the positive, sunshine guy and then there are the ones who get very mad about it and say that he's actually the angry, tough guy because him being super friendly and happy is just too "ooc". I don't listen to any of that stuff, because I believe that he's actually both. He IS a friendly guy with a warm, charming, humorous attitude that easily attracts others, and is very much an inspiration to many because of his positive, sunshine vibes as a great, hardworking hero, but none of it makes him dumb, weak or gullible, because he IS also the type who can become very serious and gets mad when he needs to be, also doesn't actually take bull from anyone, can be chaotic and crazy, works a LOT, is independent, does have a lot of intelligence and especially experience that should never be forgotten about just because he's nice, and also definitely has the determined mind to take care of things and get them done even though others will sometimes try to tell him what to do, but he doesn't actually listen because he's not the type to easily be controlled that way like a puppy would be and if he believes it's something that needs the attention and it's what should be done and no one else is doing it, then he will do it

Song I associate with them: Annihilate by Metro Bommin, Swae Lee, Lil Wayne & Offset (because it's about being fearless, embracing self strength and individuality, and becoming a much more independent person, and I think that totally fits Dick because he's not the type to fear much and hates being stuck under Batman's shadow and having independence is something that always had an important role in how Dick's life goes)

Favorite picture of them: Well, I just found this pic of him, which was done by Travis Moore

It's very nice and really shows the struggle he goes through as a hero a lot of the times. Also, I really always liked the way he draws Dick, because he doesn't just look like everyone else and isn't sharing same face syndrome with his brothers and Bruce either, it's just a look that's unique to only him and it fits him very well. It's the exact way I always imagine him looking like whenever I envision him in my mind, even the hairstyle that's given to him by this artist too!!!

While I don't play around with it too often I like the idea that he keeps Mungojereie around begrudgingly, he hates his guts but he's useful and Mungo often teeters the line of co-workers as pals and refers to Macavity as such which he happens to do on the occasions that Macavity isn't in the mood to stifle someone.

I don't know I haven't thought about him having friends a lot so that's the closest thing 🧍

Head Canon

his magic is slowly killing him; as a punishment courtesy of the everlasting cat. She gifted him with a power that was intended for the use of protection, and defense because in her eyes he was destined to be a tribe protector, never the leader despite his age.

and that made Macavity lose it, to be fair most jellicles assumed he’d take over after Deuteronomy strictly because of age and inheritance of magic but fate said otherwise and when his father told him he snapped. he grew disdainful, and easily tempered, and aggravated which led to him neglecting his duties completely and eventually boiling into him leaving the tribe.

but his powers only started to sting years later, when he’d hypnotize strays, attack the innocent etc. He was using a gift for harm and the everlasting cat didn’t like that. Soon his magic would take a lot more force to control, he grew tired more easily, his fur was thinning and even falling out daily, he got thinner and his mind was eating away at him. It was torture, just like the torture he had put so many others through.

Unpopular opinion

His portrayal in 98 is one of the weakest for me, his makeup was so overdone that he didn’t even look like a cat and the ways his scenes were edited were hard to follow in general.

A wish

I think it was Il sistina that did this but they had Macavity sort of spying or watching Demeter as she was singing his song (might have been Bomba’s part too) but I thought that was cool and you know more stage time for him so might as well. I just think it’s neat.

The light dragon slayer palms grew sweaty as he waited for the love-struck water mage of Fairy Tail to meet him at a nearby diner. His arms were tightly crossed in front of his chest as he wore the same agitated glare that seemed to be fixed on his face.

The waitress came by a third time with an apologetic glare as she asked if he still wanted the table set for two. He didn't bother opening his eyes and just simply nodded. Honestly, if she didn't show up in the next five minutes, he was just about ready to strike a hole in the roof.

Just when he was about to give up, the resonating sound of a bell jingled as the glass door was pulled open.

"Juvia is here! She is sorry, Laxus-san; she hopes she didn't keep you waiting long?!" The blue-haired water mage explained as she hurried over and took her seat in front of him.

Laxus did his best to contain his eye roll at the girl's tardiness as he shoved the menu in her direction, muttering passive remarks about how hungry he was.

"Juvia already had dinner, but she could go for dessert. Erza-san, this place has great strawberry cake."

"You already had dinner…with Gray?" Laxus asked, trying to seem uninterested. He peered his eyes over the top of his menu and was about to see the sad smile that appeared on Juvia's face.

"No, Juvia went on a short mission with Gajeel-kun, and they ate before returning to the guild. She hasn't seen Gray-sama in a few days."

The lighting mage gave her a sympathetic sigh as he ran his hand up and down his face in frustration. What was Fullbuster's deal anyway? Anyone with half a brain cell could see Juvia was head over heels for the dude, and he always acted indifferent to her feelings even though everyone knew how he felt about the water mage. The only people who didn't seem to know Gray liked Juvia were Gray and Juvia.

"I'm sure you will see the ice boy soon."

"Juvia hopes…"

The pair fell into a comfortable silence until the waitress came by for their orders, and just as Juvia said before, she eagerly requested a slice of their strawberry cake.

The water mage waited for the waitress to collect the menus and move out of earshot before leaning forward on the table. "So, how are things going with Freed-san?" Her eyebrows wiggled suggestively as she grinned eagerly.

It wasn't until she watched the way Laxus face fell further into a deep scowl that she put together why Laxus wanted to meet with her in the first place. "No good, huh?" She asked awkwardly, rubbing her arm.

After the Battle of Fairy Tail, Laxus and his thunder legion knew they owed everyone in the guild an apology. He was young and stupid with ambitions for a spot he didn't deserve. They went around requesting their forgiveness, but there were a few mages they knew deserved more than a simple apology for how they treated them, and Juvia was one of them.

Though she was technically in the guild, Laxus and his team refused to accept her and Gajeel because of their past with Phantom Lord. Freed even went as far as to tell her that she would always just be a Phantom Woman, only to be proven wrong when she sacrificed herself for Cana.

She wasn't a fool; no matter how much it hurt, she knew the Thunder Legion weren't the only ones who felt this way; the other members were just too kind to say it out loud. Juvia just wanted everyone to accept her faster.

After that, no one questioned her loyalty; she and Evergreen became good friends, and so did the others. However, it wasn't until after they woke up from their seven-year disappearance that Laxus finally had the opportunity to apologize to Juvia. She took two hits from his thunder orbs, and as a water mage, he knew it wasn't easy on her, but unsurprisingly enough, Juvia forgave him with ease.

The pair became good allies after that, and they only got closer after they were put on the Fairy Tail B team. Due to their calm composures, minus when Gray came around, they were easy to get along with. Though they weren't as close as she and Gajeel were, they still considered each other close guild members.

"I just…I don't know how to tell him; whenever I try, I just get this strange feeling?"

"What kind of feeling, Laxus-san?" Juvia asked, tilting her head.

"I don't know; it's this feeling in my stomach." He was confused as he recalled the last time Freed and he was alone. In response, Juvia gave him a mischievous smirk that only confused him more.

"Does Laxus-san feel like something is crawling in his stomach…maybe even fluttering?"

He thought carefully and slowly nodded his head.

"Juvia thinks Freed-san gives Laxus-san butterflies; that's why he gets so shy." Juvia teased, raising her hand to her mouth to cover her humorous smile.

"What? No?!"

"What does Laxus-san think it is then?"

"I don't know. A stomach ulcer?"

"Laxus-san." Juvia scolded, disappointingly shaking her head.

"Look, raindrop-" Juvia blushes heavily; the only people who called her this happen to be the two most intimidating mages of Fairy Tail. "I don't get nervous; that isn't me."

"Well, Laxus-san feels so sort of way when he is around Freed-san that keeps him from saying how he feels. Are you shy?"

"No!"

"Then what?"

"I feel like I'm not good enough, okay!" Laxus shouted, drawing the attention of nearby customers, but Laxus’ deadly sneer warned them to stay out of their conversation. The blond boy ticked his lip and let out a heavy breath to calm his head.

"What I mean is you and Freed are very similar. You both wear your heart on your sleeve and are never hesitant to say what you feel. But people like me, who hurt people, we don't deserve it."

"Juvia hurt people." She whispered, her head falling in shame.

"Juvia hurt people and did whatever her older master asked of her. She was far from a good person in those days. Even when she wasn't trying, she hurt people; she still did with her rain. Juvia was called Ameonna for a reason. She was cursed…" her thoughts trailed as she thought back to those days and the havoc they brought to Fairy Tail, but then she remembered the reason for her salvation.

"Until Gray-sama saved her and became her sun."

"You know Laxus-san, Juvia, and Freed-san don't need to hear it in words."

"Huh?"

"While Juvia can't be fully certain that Gray-sama feels the same about her in the way Juvia loves him, she can see that Gray-sama at least cares. She sees it in his actions. When she makes him her juvi-buns, he tries even just a bit to spare her feelings, when he takes her away from Lyon-san when he becomes too much. When he checks in on Juvia when she decides to hover less around him." Juvia looked down at the table as she felt her cheeks heat up while Gray ran wild in her thoughts.

"Juvia doesn't need Gray-sama to tell her with words what he feels because he shows it with his actions. Juvia is sure Freed-san feels the same."

"He likes you back, you know?

"Heh?!" Juvia shouted, shocked at Laxus' change of subject.

"Ice Boy. Gray. You said you weren't certain if he felt the same way as you, and I'm telling you he does." Laxus smirked, taking a sip of his water. Her face twisted up in a shy pucker as she imagined her Gray-sama confession of his love for her. She was going to continue letting her mind run on its full desire until Laxus cleared his throat, snapping her back into reality as the waitress brought out his food and her dessert.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Magnolia, Gray walked mindlessly as he walked through the streets of the town. His hands were shoved deep in his pocket, and he kept his face in a tight grimace to keep people from randomly coming up to talk to him. He didn't have a particular destination in mind, but preferably one away from that idiot flame brain was good enough.

He was focused on enjoying the peace and silence around him that he almost didn't hear his name being called.

"Hey Gray, team Natsu is finally back from their quest, I see."

The ice mage hummed in response as he slowed his steps to give the other mage time to catch up. Streaks of green came into Gray's peripherals as Freed lightly jogged next to him.

"Yes, that idiot doesn't ever know when to hold back. Even Happy could have taken out the creep on his own, but flame brain decided to go all dragon slayer on him, and it cost us our entire award plus more, so now we own the town jewels!" Gray shouted in frustration, not being about to contain his anger at bay anymore. He was getting heated up all over again to the point he didn't even feel himself begin to strip during his monologue.

Freed laughed in response and patted Gray on the back sympathetically, picking up the other mage's clothes as they walked silently together. This is what Gray liked about Freed, he wasn't a man of many words, and he didn't pry like Cana or Like did, and sometimes Gray just needed a friend who listened without giving their own input.

"How has the guild been?" Gray asked sheepishly, refusing to look anywhere but straight.

Freed gave a knowing smile but didn't push further; he knew the real question he was asking, so he would give him the answer without making him feel exposed. "Everyone is doing well, going on missions. Gajeel, I think maybe Juvia was with him, came back today too from their mission."

"O-oh, that's good." Gray stuttered, shoving his hands further in his pockets.

"Yeah, it's good that she is back, though; you know Laxus enjoys eating her Gray-buns." Freed laughed as Gray shivered at the image of Laxus' eating a pastry with his face on it.

"Well, maybe we should tell her to start making Laxus some Freed-buns." Gray joked as Freed's cheeks flushed in shyness; it reminded him of the timid water mage; they were both so easy to make flustered.

It didn't take long for Freed to recollect himself while fanning his cheeks. Due to his movements, the fabric of Gray's jacket began to slip from his arm and back onto the ground.

"I'll get it," Gray said, bending down to get the material, but as he pulled it back up, a small metal object slipped from the coat pocket, making a clinking noise as it collided with the pavement.

Freed picked it up and twirled it around, interested trying to make sense of what it was for. "What's this?"

Gray quickly prided the object from the rune magic user's hand and hid it away in the safety of his pants. "A clip."

"A clip?" Freed asked, confused.

"Yes, a clip!"

"What for?"

"What's with this interrogation?" Gray snapped, but the green-haired male was unphased as he held his hands up to show he meant no harm.

"I was just curious why you had a butterfly hair clip, but if this is you slow dipping your toes into the world of hair accessories, I won't judge." Okay, maybe he did mean some harm, but it was only because he knew Gray was acting like Laxus and trying to hide his feelings.

"What? No, it's not for me?" Gray shot back.

"Oh, is it for Lucy? But, I got to say, that's a poor choice. You should have gone with another color; her hair is already blond."

"No!"

"Erza? I know as kids, you kind of had a thing for her."

"Why would I even get this for Erza? She doesn't wear stuff like this."

"Oh, it must be for Cana; she is brunette; a yellow clip would look great on her."

"It's for Juvia," Gray whispered under his breath; Freed was lucky he heard it because he knew Gray wouldn't have repeated himself another time.

"I know." He smirked, content with himself earning a punch in the arm from the demon slayer.

Gray took back what he said about Freed not prying; he was a bigger ass than Loke and Cana.

"I just got it for her because it seemed like something she would like. I was just being nice."

"Mhm." Freed hummed in agreement, but it only made Gray's brows deep even more.

"Oi, it doesn't mean anything special."

"Mhm."

"I mean it."

"Mhm."

“Seriously, it’s not like that.”

“Mh-”

"Would you stop 'mhm' me!" Gray snapped.

"I'm just agreeing with what you're saying. You only got the clip for Juvia to be nice; after all, she doesn't mean anything to you."

"I didn't say that." Gray frowned.

"But you basically did. Honestly, I don’t know how she does it; just talking to you right now gives me whiplash." Freed sighed dramatically, grabbing his neck and making an aching sound.

“You’re such an ass.” Gray tsked, walking ahead of the mage, ignoring how the green-haired man chortled.

“But seriously, Gray, you will have to be honest to her sooner or later. You can’t just expect her to wait forever.”

Freed was right; he remembered when Erza pulled him to the side during the grand magic games to confront him about being fair to Juvia and telling her how he felt. It was more than a year or two later, and he still hadn’t given her an answer, and his guild mate's warnings weren’t wrong; maybe a day would come, and she would finally move on from him. Gray couldn’t help but feel his chest tighten.

“I’m no good, not like this,” the ice mage admitted looking up into the darkening sky. “The way I am now.” Freed kept his gaze directed in front of him to keep Gray from growing nervous; he knew how hard it was for him to express himself to other people.

“I can’t be the man she sees as someone she needs to protect. Someone she would learn a secret blood technique and sacrifice herself for. I need to be a man who can protect her." Gray twirled the hairpin in his fingers, caressing the gems on the wings. Despite how annoying Freed was, Gray always found it easy to talk to the runes magic user. Maybe because their situations were so similar, two men unsure of their feelings while their counterparts waited patiently for them to figure out what they wanted, but for how long? How long were they willing to wait?

"God, you sound just like Elfman, man this man, just be a man who can support her and grow stronger with her. Neither can live to protect the other your whole life."

Gray let out a sarcastic laugh as he turned his head towards Freed's direction. "Says the man who is the leader of the Laxus' protection groupies."

Freed's face turned as scarlet as his coat as he stopped his foot, yelling obscenities about Gray's absurd remarks, which only made the ice mage smirk more, knowing how easy it was to get under the others' skin.

"Gray-sama, Freed-san!" A cheerful voice yelled from the direction across them; the men didn't even need to look up to see who it was.

Juvia ran in their direction, holding a take-out bag with Laxus in tow, her smile never leaving her face as she approached the pair.

"Juvia, Laxus," Gray greeted, nodding his head. Just the simple acknowledgment of her presence drove the blue hair mage into a heart-eyed frenzy. Laxus let out a hum, his focus never wavering from the petite man standing next to Gray.

"Coming from dinner?" Freed asked, looking at the bag in Juvia's hand.

"Yes, but Juvia got this for Gray-sama." The girl blushes, shoving the bag in his direction to take. He glanced at her nervously, reaching out to take it from her hands. The tips of his fingers brushed across the back of her hand, sending a bolt of currents straight to his heart.

"Erza-san told Juvia this shop has good cake, and she was right. Juvia just had to get her Gray-sama one!"

His lips puckered as his other hand fumbled with the clip that was tucked away in his pocket. "Maybe you can share some with me." He spoke with an embarrassed tone. "I mean, it seems like you liked it, so if you want more, you can eat some with me."

"But Juvia got the cake for Gray-sama!" Juvia balled her fist and held them to her chest as she pouted her cheeks. "Plus, Juvia was out with Laxus-san; it would be rude for her to abandon him in the streets!"

"I'll be fine if you wanna go with ice boy." Laxus grimaced at the way the water mage made him sound helpless.

Gray didn't even get the chance to fire a snarky comeback at Laxus, calling him 'ice boy' before Juvia wrapped herself into his side, throwing her arms around him and dragging him along the street in the direction of his apartment. "Well, it was nice seeing Laxus-san and Freed-san; Juvia and Gray will get going now!" She gave Laxus one last look, winking in his direction as if to say, remember what Juvia told you.

Freed let out a content sigh, shaking his head in amusement at the couple. Gray indeed was helpless. "I wonder if he will ever muster the courage, to be honest with her."

"Mhm," Laxus agreed as the pair walked down the dark-lit street side by side, replaying Juvia's words from the diner in his head.

"Juvia doesn't need Gray-sama to tell her with words what he feels because he shows it with his actions. Juvia is sure Freed-san feels the same."

Before the large dragon slayer could stop his actions, his hand came up and patted the top of Freed's head, giving him a light rub.

The runes user jumped slightly at the sudden contact; his eyes trailed up to meet Laxus' who was staring down at him with a gentle smile. Freed studied the lines on his face and the scar on his eye and found himself growing lost in them. Everything about him, his straw blonde hair, egoist attitude, and powerful aura, Freed learned how to love every bit of it. Finally, after a few seconds of hesitation, he melted into the bigger man's side, enjoying the feeling of having him near. Laxus may not be a man with many words, but his touch and his actions were enough.

Sexuality/Gender/Ship Headcanon: Honestly, I have nothing for most of these - completely valid for people who do hold these - but Ricardo to me is just a caring dad. I don't have a ship for him.

A BROTP I have with said character: Ohhh boy. Toxic brotp would be him and Reisel, the way it instantly goes from "Hey Ricardo's just a goofy dad raising Ana and the triplets" to "Okay we need more side content on his backstory immediately" is so good. Everything about Reisel is a red flag and yet still Ricardo chooses to nearly jeopardise his position working with Ana over an old debt owed to him.

Ricardo and the bar lady in Kararagi Girl Meets Cats/Kararagi Girl and Cats Eye have a pretty cute bond as Ana's parent figures. The bar lady is basically Anastasia's former employer who took care of her as a young kid, and she regularly talks to Ricardo about being a good role model for her. He seems to value her opinion a fair amount, but also insists on her keeping his involvement with Reisel private.

A NOTP I have with said character: Ana/Ricardo. I know it's said Ricardo was her first love, but it's just a childhood crush type thing. They met when Ana's 10-11 years old and Ricardo basically raised her.

A random headcanon: Ricardo isn't the best with tact or talking to girls, but he went out of his way to learn how to braid/do different hairstyles for Ana. I imagine the bar lady taught him so he could fix up Ana's hair when she started growing it out properly, something she then learned and did with Mimi when she grew up.

General Opinion over said character: He's 10000% team dad. Massive softie with a heavy backstory often left to the side because of his father-daughter bond with Ana in her backstory. People know she bought him out of slavery, but there's very little discussion on what actually happened to him before then.

Since you requested Ricardo information, I'll give a rundown of what exactly happened before he met Ana (From Kararagi Girl & Cat's Eye):

[Content warning for discussion of slavery/torture/abuse]

Ricardo was somebody who regularly rebelled against the slave owners and frequently angered the guards at the camp. He was often targeted and beaten for very trivial reasons solely because certain guard really didn't like the fact he had such a strong fighting spirit despite his circumstances.

For over two months each beating grew worse and worse, wounds overlapping and he was fully prepared to die during this time. But one day Reisel, a tanuki beastman looked in his cell and saw him still alive, came to visit him and spoke to him a bit. Because he was well known and liked by guards, a connection was made between Ricardo and Reisel, so the abuse towards Ricardo was lightened instantly.

There was still the threat of death, starvation, and hard labour, but Reisel's interference saved his life. Reisel admits he only interfered as he wanted some "muscle" to protect him in the camp, and Ricardo acknowledges this, feeling indebted while still disliking the guy for seeming quite two faced.

This hunch turns out to be true, as Reisel later organises a successful escape with a bunch of slaves. He does not invite Ricardo, and Ricardo is later tortured and left half-dead for that very association that saved his life previously. Ricardo endured through everything, never losing that spirit, and eventually became a free man after meeting Anastasia.

Later, when reunited with Reisel, Ricardo admits he knew Reisel leaving him behind was a calculated move to ensure the guards went after him and not Reisel. Despite knowing this, he still willingly honours his debt to Reisel, helping him with stealing cargo (later revealed to be on Capella's orders, as Reisel is one of her children.)

There's a lot you can say about Ricardo, both in his appearances in arc 5, and his backstory with Ana. He's a very resilient character who puts up with a lot of shit, but never forgets his debts - someone both cold (only willing to help if given ample reason as a merc) and warm (never lets his burdens fall on others, keeps that positive slant on any interactions, rescues Ana from slave traders) that you have to wonder how exactly he got to the point he's at.

I haven't finished Cat's eye yet - maybe about a third done? - But there's a lot of questions I have about who he was prior to being a slave, and I'm not sure there's any concrete answers yet for them. Where was he prior to slavery? How long was he a slave? He's 39/40 in canon now, so would've been 30 when freed as a slave - what childhood did he have, his family life, it's all a bunch of ??? that's a lot of free real estate for interpretations.

Very fascinating character that needs a lot more love. Think a lot of people shy away from discussing him due to him being a "furry" but it's a real shame to neglect one of the coolest characters and best dad in the series, aside from Kenichi. I think there's a ton you can do with him given the right prompt and enough lore knowledge.

• My NOTP for them: Might be (definitely is) controversial but D*lena. Anyone who follows me and has seen a few of my posts about TVD knows this about me but I just do not ship, do not like it and wish they weren't endgame.

• My BROTP for them: Ooh, okay, either Jeremy or Tyler. The only problem I have is that I ship Tylena, so I should probably choose Jeremy. I genuinely love their dynamic, they make me very happy <3

• My OTP for them: *Deep breath* STELENA. It will always be Stelena. Despite the fact that I totally agree with people who say that both Salvatore brothers were bad for Elena, I can't help but love those two and wish that Elena and Stefan were allowed to be endgame. Early seasons Stelena will always have my heart <3

• My second choice pairing for them: Probably even more controversial but my answer is Matt. There's something so sweet to me about their relationship in the beginning, and how much they genuinely cared about each other, and I just think life would have been a lot better for both of them had they gotten back together before everything went completely wrong, and I just love the idea of them getting a happy human life together.

• My fluffy pairing for them: Oh god, that's hard because I still want to say Stelena or Mattlena but... they've been through some shit. They're both really fluffy though! Okay, no. A genuinely fluffy pairing for Elena would probably be Elejah. I KNOW there's some history and angst stuff but the IDEA is SO FLUFFY. I just know Elijah would worship the ground she walks on, and just AHHHH.

Sexuality Headcanon: if you ask him he'd say straight because of his absolute love and adoration of women in general but its also not super uncommon for him to bring male groupies to bed either. i think if he actually worked through his mental shit he'd be more comfortable w the fact he's most certainly bisexual. his sexuality is what he struggles with the most because of how he grew up with his mother and had the constant exposure to her promiscuity, it really fucked him up and messed with how he processes romantic vs platonic vs purely sexual feelings towards others

Favorite thing about them: her ghostliness. She *is* an extremely realistic character, but even when still alive she has this tension towards the supernatural and the afterlife. And I love the ambiguity over her being an actual spirit, or maybe only a memory, or maybe it's the same thing

Least favorite thing about them: another flawless character. And she's not exactly a good person, but I can't think about something that really irks me atm

Favorite line: Find a way, then! Not through that kirkyard—you are slow! Be content, you always followed me! Like, she's obviously in her delirium talking as her child self, but also, this is what will happen? He is slow, it'll take eighteen years for him to follow her. Okay.

Favorite thing about them: her snark and fierceness. Also, a fellow bookworm!

Least favorite thing about them: that she's completely isolated from her mother. Like, simbolically, she follows her steps backwards, but there's never a moment in which she actually confronts her memory, how she feels about her late mother, who had her same name. It'd be clichèd maybe (the worst adaptations always have at least one scene like this aha), but I'd love it.

Favorite line: I should feel well—but you have left me so long to struggle against death, alone, that I feel and see only death! I feel like death! Absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. The Antigone of it all.

Raven and Qrow were really close when they were younger, and she would stand up for him when he was mistreated by other tribe members, but as they grew older and Raven had a responsibility placed on her to be the Brawnwen tribe's future leader, she came to view him as more trouble than he was worth.

Favorite line from this character:

"Salem only uses people until they are no longer useful" this is my favorite just because I find the redundancy so funny when this line is trying to be serious.

Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character:

They really wanted me to sympathize with a woman who abandoned her daughter without a second thought because she didn't want any part in an endless war, and then made her choose a side again in the endless war??? Without even being threatened into it like Adam was??? I'm embarrassed from a writer's perspective. I think they should have just made her a part of Salem's cabal to begin with but betray her in any small way she could.

Cinnamon roll or problematic fave:

Problematic fave for sure. There is almost nothing to like, or find redeemable about this woman.

Otp:

That's kind of hard to decide because I don't really ship her with anyone in earnest, and the characters I think would have cool story potential shipping are too old for her and thus kind of a squick for me.

Brotp:

Like Cinder has friends lol. Ok, but I do like her and Watts as frenemies, I think their dynamic could be really funny, but also kind of compelling.

Notp:

Get this woman the hell away from Emerald. This ship bothers me on so many levels, up to and including, Cinder is apparently old enough that Emerald views her as a mother figure (as stated in chibi) Cinder is emotionally abusive to Emerald and Mercury and Emerald is just so starved for any kind of love after the life she's led, that it takes her far too long to notice, even when Mercury, a kid who suffered an unimaginable amount of abuse from his father tells her straight up that Cinder doesn't care about her, it takes a good while before she believes it.

First headcannon that pops into my head:

You cannot convince me that this woman isn't thirty at the beginning of the show. I don't care that they put her in a school uniform and made sure the audience knew that the Maiden powers can only go to a young woman, whatever arbitrary mysoginistic standard that is to Miles and Kerry. She has always been 30 to me, and over 30 is what she always will be.

Favorite line from this character:

"It's not about overpowering enemies, it's about taking away What little power they have. And we will, in time." Bring back cunning and manipulative Cinder for hell's sake! This new version is boring me!

One way in which I relate to this character:

I don't really, but I think I too get so caught up in my emotions that I completely forget about logical reasoning.

Thing that gives me secondhand embarrassment about this character:

Jessica Negri's voice acting has become super grating ever since Cinder went from manipulative femme fatale to ruthless brute. Even when Cinder was still cunning and manipulative she tended to overuse her sultry smug voice and it started to make her seem like she was trying too hard.

Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?

Problematic fave, Cinder was literally designed to be a female villain the audience can crush on in spite of how evil she is. And honestly in those first few seasons they did a pretty good job. Even if I do have some criticism about her voice acting. I really liked her first dress okay?

2.) Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

KillerVibe, aka Cisco/Caitlin. I do get why it's a popular ship for those two, but I just can't. Their platonic love for each other is so lovely and I think I happened upon them right as I was feeling a bit burnt out on the 'men and women can't be just friends' trope. So these two being bffs and never a hint of anything else no matter how much they clearly loved each other?

Beautiful. Why would I want anything else for them?

Colette/Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia (which was just re-released on the latest consoles, if you haven't played it before and are looking for a new game to play... pick this game up, it's so good!!!!) - it's not enough to turn me off a fic for there to be Colette/Lloyd going on but I just... read them as having a sibling relationship. There's nothing really romantic about their interactions - honestly the only person who really says anything shippy about them is Genis. And Lloyd sounds like an exasperated older brother telling Genis to shut it when he does. Like... Colette is in many ways Lloyd's person - he does love her and he pays closer attention to her than the others do because he knows she's got a bad habit of not admitting when something is wrong. I just don't read what's there as romantic.

7.) Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Olicity. Oliver and Felicity had some really cute ship teasing going on in the early seasons. But when they actually acted on it... I can't really say they brought out the best in each other. Felicity struggled to trust Oliver but would paper over that with complaints about Oliver doing the same to her. But Oliver's issues were, at least, born out of ptsd and a lack of mental health self care. With Felicity's character, it just seemed like the writers were Flanderizing her to some degree and her character suffered a lot. Most irritatingly, Oliver grew further away from his comic book self instead of closer as was initially promised. I think their lowest point was hijacking the Westallen wedding, where Felicity made someone else's big day about her and Oliver just... went with it. But she also made a scene at the rehearsal when she'd thought Oliver was re-proposing to her and he wasn't. It was very uncomfortable to watch.

They were a lot better at dealing with other people without each other, but... *waves hands in a resigned fashion* together they were just kind of obnoxious in the end.

14.) Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

I guess that depends on the part of the fandom.

Eobard Thawne was massively mishandled post S2. He should have remained a posthumus character. All his interactions with Barry's future should have been in Eobard's past. Either with Barry traveling to the past to interact with EoWells or Mattobard showing up from points in his timeline that predated killing Nora Allen. S2 set that up really nicely, but unfortunately there was no follow through and they went in a different direction.

We'll never know for certain that Iris chose Barry because she was truly in love with him and not because everyone was saying it was her destiny. Even their E2 counterparts were married. If everyone tells you that something you aren't sure you want is the best thing for you ever and you'd be foolish to not do that thing then... if you do what you've been told by everyone in your life, is it actually because you want to? Or because you think you're supposed to? The show did, finally, sort of kind of not really acknowledge this. But... S9 when they've been married since S4 was... not the time to do that.

In S3 Future Barry should have been the one with the facial scars and Savitar with the ridiculous Emo!hair.

I... actually really enjoy Zoom coming off S1 with all the parallels that Team Flash is so oblivious too. It's only because of Savitar (and not to forget the Rival and Trajectory) that I feel like the show got overloaded with too many evil speedsters in the first three seasons. There were five - that was about three too many. (That said, Zoom probably should have been the S3 villain with S2 centered on the Rogues. Give the team some breathing room after dealing with Eobard.)

23.) Unpopular character you love?

Eobard Thawne. I will complain about him being overused and misused all day if prompted, but there's a reason why I gravitate to him as a lot as the main villain in my own writing. S1 Eobard on the Flash in particular is just such a fascinating and compelling villain. And Matt's take on him over in S2 of Legends is really great. His exasperation with his co-villains makes them all such fun.

Julian Albert. He was very unlucky in love, falling for Caitlin who clearly just... was not interested in return. And very unfortunate to have whatever was going on with Savitar and 'Alchemy'. But he gave Barry a much needed coworker at the CCPD. (Barry cannot be the only CSI in the entire CCPD. He just. Cannot. But it certainly seems that way sometimes, doesn't it?) If they'd followed through with making the not-Caitlin-not-Frost character in S4 the way S3 seemed to clearly intend, then perhaps Julian might have become the new team medic? Alas, we just get a single brief mention of him in S4 and not even a proper send off for him.

27.) Least shippable character?

Hmmm... Bart since I just haven't seen enough episodes with him to get a good read for his personality at all. And since most of the characters I have seen him interact with are either his parents, his grandparents, his honorary grandfather (Jay Garrick), or members of Team Flash who are presumably honorary aunts and uncles... who would I even ship him with? Certainly not Godspeed.

Sherlock and Joan from Elementary both read as different identities under the arospec umbrella that while I ship them as a QPR together, shipping either of them romantically with anyone - including each other - just feels like it'd make them out of character. They say they love each other in canon without it being automatically romantic. (big deal to me!!!!) So they're equally least shippable to me on that show. And it bewilders me that people do ship them romantically. (Did we not watch the same show? Did people not see how aro they are and how their friendship defies amatonormativity? *heavy sigh*)
