hey, sorry to barge into your inbox despite being a total stranger (and feel free to respond to this privately if you want) but i came across some of your s/n/k critical posts and i just wanted to say i agree SO much. and i wanted to thank you for vocalizing this opinion because i know both i and some others agree with you. i've personally felt that everything after chapter 80 was a mistake (because i thought the whole serum fight over erwin vs armin was pretty fuckin stupid too) and it's kinda funny (i guess) to see the ending 100% validate my opinion completely. i can't believe every character was done this dirty for the sake of a very poorly constructed "both sides are bad" scenario that was also in VERY poor taste considering the explicit allegories to n*zi germany and a literal race war. like what's up with the jews - sorry, the "eldians" - once ruling the entire world via a bloodthirsty empire and also being inhuman creatures? gee, that sure doesn't sound like every antisemitic conspiracy theory i've ever heard. and way to rationalize oppression, too. the entire point of an oppression narrative is supposed to be "hey, the oppressor's prejudices have no rational basis and are literally mistreating this oppressed group due to their own selfishness and cruelty," not "oh btw marley's fear/hatred of eldians kinda makes sense considering eldians once enslaved the entire planet and can turn into giant man-eating monsters." is*yama SERIOUSLY should've just stuck to writing glorified vore lmao.

and while all the characters were either killed, turned into plot devices, or both, it hurts that EMA and the main protag himself suffered this treatment as well. i still think pre-timeskip eren is utterly irreconciliable with post-timeskip eren and the fact that both fans and the author himself try to make it seem like "hey he was ALWAYS a batshit crazy psychopath from the start!" is sort of pathetic to watch. like yeah, lemme just ignore the first 80 chapters of character development for this guy. or lemme pretend that the author didn't spend the significant majority of the decade making eren the most empathetic character in the entire series. or let me also pretend that eren killing those human traffickers to save a 9 year old girl from being a child sex slave is somehow evidence/foreshadowing/etc of him eventually growing up to destroy 80% of the planet. like, what? not to mention he even rebuked himself for recklessly killing those two men like that in chapter 17...so am i supposed to ignore that too?? and don't even get me started on the "eren went insane and accidentally caused his mom's death." bro. BRO. i've watched the entirety of game of thrones yet i STILL have never seen this level of "edgy plot twist for shock value with no benefit or relevance to the story whatsoever" in any media to exist.

well anyway...sorry for ranting in your inbox like this LMAO i really just wanted to tell you that i agree with your opinions about both the series ending and the series as a whole. i doubt i'll ever engage with this cursed manga ever again but at least pre-chapter 80 s/n/k will always be a thing and i can pretend they all got reincarnated into a modern AU where eren and mikasa are happily married and living with their bff armin in a nice condo or something. they alternate between visiting carla and grisha or mikasa's family on weekends. yeah that sounds pretty good. if you made it this far then kudos to you and thank you for reading lol

Thanks a ton for the kind words of commiseration. It feels like there’s a plurality of people who are unhappy, sure... but it comes off as still being a minority, and even among that minority, it seems like most people are still fine with most of the timeskip so long as they stuck the landing. But I think they were much too far off-course pretty fast after the Timeskip started to really correct it very well. It was possible, but the writing was on the wall. The intentions were already clear pretty early on after the skip.

That said, I try to keep this Tumblr mostly positive and DR-focused, yet I still absolutely had to rant about SNK 139. The more I thought about it, the more I disliked it... and this comes from someone who was already unhappy for a while, obviously, so. Yeah. Of course I was gonna dislike it on some level, but I thought it’d at least provide closure to the Timeskip arc, even if I do think the Timeskip arc feels at odds with everything else the series was for 3/4 of its run.

And HOLY SHIT I literally forgot about the Eldians’ history of apparently being horrible, vicious rulers of a sinister empire. You know why? Because I NEVER BELIEVED IT. I was so 100% certain that it was going to be outed as bullshit propaganda from Marley that I never once thought it was plausible, so I just... pushed it out of my mind as soon as I read it. After all, all that kind of talk about the arch-conspiracy of Jews has always been total bullshit from anti-semetic monsters, so why would I put any stock in this kind of talk being applied to the Jewish race of Attack on Titan?

But now, at the end of the story... yup, I guess he never DID go back on that! So it was fucking true?! The Jewish people in this WWII analogy were apparently an evil master race at one point?! Oh. OHHHHH. Go fuck yourself with a shovel for that one, Isayama.

And yeah, Eren... god, what a sad story. He becomes unrecognizable as the same character thanks to the Timeskip, the new characterization is never explained or justified retroactively - it’s just opposite day now, forever - and he dies accomplishing nothing. I don’t know what to say, except I do know how much I loved that character and this series before things went south. I didn’t even mind the backstory for the Titans and the horrible story of Eldians in Marley... because it seemed so obvious that it was setting up a battle against a hateful, technologically advanced foe that was beyond the darkness of anything they’d fought before, y’know? Marley, as it was set up in the flashbacks before the Timeskip, is Nazi Germany if the Nazis had tech and scientific horrors and numbers far beyond what the Allies had. And nobody EVER feels bad for killing Nazis, so this was obviously going to be a final battle to destroy the Marleyan military, with Zeke likely to serve as a Final Boss who has totally 100% bought the propaganda and who hated everything Eren stood for. It was all RIGHT THERE. Maybe it was just too easy to tell that story, because instead, Zeke is suddenly supposed to be a gray character (very hard to accept given his backstory), and we end with the “uwu both sides were bad bc war is hell” message that is really pretty fucked up, as you already correctly pointed out.

Oh God, their naïve, inexhaustible hope is doubly heartbreaking in light of what we saw later on in the episode. Because we get a brief glimpse of the end of their story in Trumpet Creeper and it’s horrifying - he kills her, clearly on Kyung’s orders, even as he tries to fight the narrative so hard, grabbing that sword by the hand (which is why he has that scar! And I bet the scar begins to ache more and more the story changes because it’s a reminder of what happened last time he tried to change story; equivalent of Dan Oh’s heart alarm - you are getting to the danger zone and to the things repeating.)

I bet it’s because while he has a unique (or is it, Kyung’s terrifying musings at the end indicate it may not be, it’s just no extra had motivation before) ability to fight the narrative, the narrative makes it hard. Remember this?

Here, he had the latitude to fight the programming - he just managed to scotch the plot a little later than otherwise. But there is no such time margin when the narrative makes him kill someone!

And as the stories meld more and more, the stakes get higher and higher - a high school manga doesn’t have the terrifying stakes of a sageuk. (The writer has Nam Joo and his half brother fight for their corporate empire just as Squid and Kyung fought over the throne in the past, but you know that would be a quiet ouster and a cushy life, not blood in the streets.) But the fact that present day Kyung figured a way to change things in the story is so scary and is about to make things potentially crazy not in a good way (if, as @kuronekonerochan posited, past Kyung, who was a violent psycho figured that out back then, I wonder if that is why he had Haru kill Dan Oh and the rest of that story clearly ended up in slaughter.)

The problem with Kyung is that ultimately, even at his best, he is all about himself. He is all about what Dan Oh makes him feel, what she can do for him emotionally. He couldn’t care less what she actually feels and that she doesn’t want him. Compare him to Haru who basically abnegates himself for Dan Oh (or even Do Hwa vis-à-vis Juda.) It’s selfish v selfless.

Oh GOD. YESSSS.

And then this. It reminds me of a moment in Fushigi Yugi anime when Tamahome, our male lead, is confronted with the fact that he is not a “real” person but a book character and deals with the insane metaphysics of this by declaring that the reason he exists is for Miaka. (Or my favorite character in Simon R Green’s epic space opera series, Deathstalker, Finlay - a complete mess of a person, a foppish aristo by day, a feral masked gladiator by night. He tries to figure out which one he actually is, hopelessly tangled, and resolves it by declaring: “I am the man who loves Evangeline” (his OTP). Never thought I’d see this in a kdrama!

But you know, Kyung is not wrong when he asks Haru this:

Because who knows! Writer = God here, and who can really know the true plans of God? This echoes in the fact that lines seem to repeat from stage in Trumpet Creeper to shadow in present day. For example, Dan Oh calls Kyung her beginning in Trumpet Creeper when on stage, something she and Haru say about the other in shadow in the present day. Is the writer still controlling them in shadows or are they just influenced by the past the way normal people are? I pretty much love that the two mains have decided fuck metaphysics, they just want to be together.

If the author lets them, that is. He remembered the end of the story in the past and she saw forward to dying during surgery. When they cling to each other for dear life, my heart!!! (though I did grin to see she had to be on a literal box.)

I conclude this already epically long post with this scene I love. I think Haru’s “we will fight fate no matter what and never give up” attitude, even before he remembered anything, is a reaction to the past, when he tried to negate his love until much later because of societal class rules and the fact that he was basically brainwashed to be Kyung’s dog. But is seems it is all doomed doomed doomed either way, unless you literally follow the exact story the writer intended, like one of those Japanese dating sim games where you have to pick exactly the right choices to get a happy ending and even then the only way the ending is happy is nobody dies; Haru and Dan Oh are still stuck in the hell of self-awareness, loving each other but not able to be together (ironically, self awareness is wrecking a possible as happy as it gets ending - look at Kyung’s brother telling him he would be happy if he just stopped meddling. Though what person can stop trying to change their fate for the better? And in any event, even if Kyung remained unaware, the jig was up once Dan Oh and Haru started trying to change things.)

Taika: 📙 What kind of subjects (of conversation, of discussion, in school or whatever) does your OC find interesting or engaging or that they can talk for hours about? What kind of stuff do they just find fun?What things bore your OC to tears and they couldn’t care less about? Why?

Taika of course finds magic and the occult super interesting even before she became a Tremere, her parents were New Age and very superstitious so they had a ton of occult or witchy spellbooks around the house and their interest rubbed off on her.

Although if she’s in unfamiliar company she’ll downplay her interest to something that doesn’t sound too crazy but with her closest friends especially ones that are witches themselves she will nerd out for hours! One of the things she loves about being a vampire is that she gets to learn and discuss magic without looking nuts!

She also likes to discuss politics, even more so as a vampire.

Looking up spells, occult lore, or urban legend conspiracies in either books or the internet is something that Taika loves to do, especially on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. She also loves to go out dancing and always goes out to the nearest nightclub when going on a date.

Do not ever take Taika to a sports game, she’ll get bored to tears and hates the food they serve at sports stadiums (she was a food snob XD) another thing she likes about being a vampire, no-one expects her to got to a sport’s game! lol

🌸What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?

Taika has spent a lot of time perfecting her laugh to be pleasing to other people’s ears, she used to snort while laughing but not so much anymore (although there are times the snorting does slip in and that was when she was in LaCroix’s company when he managed to make her laugh and he found that rather endearing.)

Taika does have a lovely singing voice, though not of the chart-topping superstar level of singing ability but certainly lovely enough to win some karaoke competition. :D

Her family moving to the US from Finland when she was eight years old, Taika’s native Finland accent got her made fun a lot by the other kids at school and yelled at by adults to speak better English when they couldn’t understand her very well. Again this was something she worked hard to ‘correct’ and now there’s barely any trace of her old accent and she sounds like a regular West Coast American.

Oswald: 🔥Give us a list of general likes and dislikes, such as colours, textures, music, weather and other stuff!

Oswald is fond of warm colours such as yellow, orange and red, colours of the sunset, really. He really doesn’t care browns, especially if they aren’t warm browns.

Even though he couldn’t always afford it, he enjoys the silk fabric men’s shirt (especially if they have an elaborate pattern), oak wooden furniture feels good on his fingertips and he had a second-hand oak wood desk in his apartment before his embrace (sadly he couldn’t get it back since his parents took it into their home as a reminder of him) and the type of texture of food he tends to love are crunchy, potato chips, crispy fried chicken (Freaking Chicken! XD) and on the healthier side, carrot sticks. and of course, he loves the feel human/vampire flesh during sexytimes! 😉

Anything less than a 100% cotton fabric is something he dislikes wearing, they give his skin a reaction like a little rash. anything too squishy in his furniture or food isn’t something he cares for much. (Don’t say the word moist around unless you want him to shudder uncontrollably!)

Oswald does listen to all kinds of music genres but he’s very into Nirvana, Hole or anything grunge, it just speaks to him in so many ways, even more so when he’s a vampire. 😢

The only type of music he doesn’t care is modern country music, it sucks in his opinion.

When he was still human, Oswald loves sunny days, and wishes now having become a vampire he had spent more time watching the sunrise or sunset instead of letting himself get overtaken by his work in life.

Cloudy weather used to get him down a little when he was alive, though it doesn’t bother him too much as a vampire.

Oswald doesn’t like to admit it to many but he loves a good mystery novel and puzzles, it’s what’s gotten him to being an investigator in the first place. his guilty pleasure is to read a best selling crime novel and count the number of mistakes the author makes! Another thing he hates admitting to liking, trashy reality shows, heavily edited cooking competitions or dating competitions, he’ll watch them all!

As a human Oswald didn’t care much for horror movies for he doesn’t like getting jumps scared or feeling tense all the time. Now as a vampire, horror movies as the cliche goes don’t scare him at all (he’s seen true horror bro) and more treats them as mystery thrillers instead. Having been born and raised in California and worked as an investigator in LA and thus has seen a lot of shit, really hates any movie that puts Hollywood in a positive light, especially old Hollywood.

📀How easy is it to shock your OC? To confuse them? To lie to them, to manipulate them? How are they with feelings of trust? Can your OC be trusted?

Gruesome crimes scenes of murder or massacres don’t affect Oswald that much anymore but Andrei’s flesh house of fun really shocked him, watching the tape twice didn't prepare him at all for the horrors that awaited him. Also finding out that Vampires and Ghosts are real shook him to the core as well.

You would have to do something so outside of Oswald’s impression of you and really weird or stupid to really confuse him, otherwise he’s seen some shit and isn’t easily confused a lot of the time.

Oswald is pretty damned observant so he does usually notice when someone is trying to manipulate him, especially in Kindred society. But having become a vampire you can play on Oswald’s loneliness to get what you want but he’ll eventually figure it out and you better be ready to run, the Prince of LA learned the hard way what happens to those who use him!

When Oswald was alive, he had a lot more people around him that he was able to trust, close tightknit family, and friends. But as a vampire, Oswald is completely cut off from those closest to him and he’s very aware of the backstabbing nature of Kindred society to ever give his trust to just anyone.

Oswald on the other hand is pretty trustworthy himself, he keeps to his promises most of the time and rarely breaks them unless you’ve proven to be complete and utter scum that doesn’t deserve to live.

Gloria: 💛 In general, how in control of their emotions is your OC? Do they have a good hold on them or do their emotions control them, not the other way around? What do you think is the reason behind this and is your OC ever concerned about their lack of or good control?

After years of anger management, Gloria is more in control of her emotions than she was eighteen. (A lot of her anger comes from her Dad apparently abandoning her and generally her Mom getting screwed around by the system for having mental problems and being forced to leave her daughter to be put in a mental hospital)

Overall, Gloria has a pretty tight hold on her emotions and refuses to let them control her, which can make her seem cold at times (Nines had thought so when he first met Gloria and it also made Velvet want to warm her up emotionally)

Again as the forementioned seemingly abandonment by her father and how horribly her mother was treated by the system has made Gloria really angry at the world and its injustices, which ended up with her getting in trouble with the law at times and her sent to anger management.

Gloria is proud that she has such a good hold on her emotions but always fears losing that control and knows that if her Dad had gone through with his plan to embrace her into the Brujah clan it would’ve been a disaster! But as she spends more time in Kindred society without any access to any therapists, she finds that her general dissatisfaction with how things are being run in Downtown LA and losing patience with Nines’ refusal to either fully take the mantle of leadership or give it someone else, is slowly having a bad effect on her control of her anger.

🌳 Compare your OC to themself from 10 years ago. How has their mental state changed since then, how have they aged and grown up? Would they say they’re in a better place than they were back then or do they need help? What advice would they give their younger self? What advice would their younger self give to them now?

In some ways Gloria is in a better place than she was ten years ago, she’s been able to make peace with her father and start rebuilding her relationship with him, now knowing that he didn’t willingly abandon her when she was 18, and she’s not so closed off all the time, finding that she is able to be more open with her emotions. But she’s also starting to get her old anger back and that needs sorting out.

But she’s not making as many reckless choices anymore, thinking a lot about how they could affect the ones she loves so dearly. Even more so when she has become a vampire.

She’s built up a found family with Nines’ crew, Velvet, Heather, and her father and his coterie that she’s not willing to lose so she has a support system but it can’t help her from her old anger problems, now given a new source.

Gloria would tell her younger self that she should trust that anger management will help her and not try to control her anger with drugs. and also be mindful that there are predators in the world beyond people (mostly men) trying to take advantage of her and no matter what it’s still worth opening your heart to people even in this dark world.

Her younger self would tell Gloria that it’s okay to make mistakes and fuck up at times, to not take any man’s shit even from the ones she loves dearly, and enjoy every day like it’s her last.

Oh damn, that last one made me all emotional! 😭 thanks again for the ask :D

Theory time for those who refuse to accept the epilogues

A little long, but this is how I’ve rationalized what the hell I’ve read in a way that leaves me somewhat satisfied. Even to the point where I’d say I begrudgingly respect the epilogues and consider them outstandingly clever despite being frustrating for fans. I have to acknowledge the cleverness with a nod, bc aaaah you little bastard hussie you, you got me again goddammit. I was not r e a d y for all these damn LEVELS but I guess that’s just what ya get.

We begin with: Everything in homestuck has significance.

The story is so complex, and we should know by now that whenever something seems strange and insignificant, it is DEFINITELY significant. If thinking you’re crazy for seeing strange patterns was ever welcome anywhere, it’s in homestuck. This is the place crazy theories come true. (Oil spots? Betty Crocker???) Which brings me to meat or candy. I’ve tried overthinking it and analyzing the fanfic format and the meanings of two different versions and I’ve come to this conclusion:

Meat and Candy were written by the two Calliopes

More specifically, Candy was written by the Calliope we know and Meat by the super powerful dead space Calliope who dominated their session. Just look at the actual pictures for meat and candy.

Candy is a swirl of green and red, like Calliope’s cheek markings, who never dominated. Meat is pure red, like the Calliope who dominated and ‘stole’ Caliborn’s blood color. Also, don’t the concepts of meat and candy line up with their two personalities? Our Calliope is rather sweet I’d say, and the other Calliope is far bloodier and holds more weight. (btw I’m using colors for understanding)

I’ve considered the possibility of Caliborn writing them, but honestly he is not capable of the language and vocabulary used. Plus, we already know Calliope likes writing fan fiction starring themself and their friends. When writing a fanfic about your friends, you may know them well, but since you are not them and are not all knowing, your perspective of them may be a bit off. And that’s what the epilogue feels like, off. For example, we know Calliope cannot(or at least does not fully understand) romantic relationships. Perhaps this is why all the romantic parts of Candy are strange. Jade is over sexualized, and everything romantic is confusing. As if the one writing does not understand how it works. The plot point of the reproductive issues seems like something Calliope would be interested in since it is foreign to them. Plots of democracy, not understanding incest or human and troll interactions. It all lines up with Calliope’s thinking. Also, whenever Calliope is described, they are mysterious and knowledgeable, with no insight or inner thoughts. When you write for yourself you tend to reveal no flaws. The Calliope described in candy is exactly that. Simply sweet. Isn’t that how they described their trollsona? (Also, didn’t the tags say something about a self insert?) The story that developes could very well be their work, which may perhaps be based on reality but is still a story, not facts, and not canon. But in a way it is canon since a canon character wrote it, so it does exist in canon, and we as readers cannot distinguish what is true, what is exaggerated, and what is completely made up.

Wooh, ok, time for the next part. Meat and the other Calliope

We know from canon that this Calliope is less emotional, straightforward and unempathetic. This one does not care for relationships or accurate depictions of emotions, their story moves faster and is much more plot heavy, leaving characters under Dirk’s control. We don’t know much about Calliope and don’t quite understand their purpose other than that they are powerful and important. If this is indeed their work, we can trust that meat is closer to the truth than candy simply based on the two Calliope’s personalities as writers. But again, we don’t know this Calliope as well, and cannot determine with 100% accuracy what is true from their story. This Calliope may have left out ‘unimportant’ emotional parts and character interactions (this may even be disgusting to them). They could make the story as dark as they want and feel no remorse, because they believe that this is the necessary way to tell the story. There must be learning from consequences so they are not repeated, and so every dark part written is necessary. Meanwhile, our Calliope would likely rather spend their story writing about their friends and observing interesting human behavior, because isn’t it so exciting to see how they bicker and talk to each other and set up their cute little society!? This Calliope would rather avoid the subject of their brother as it brings up bad memories. However it cannot go unignored, and perhaps the true story is subconsciously told told through a coat of sugar.

In conclusion~

The epilogues were written by the Calliopes

Neither are truly canon, but rather they tell the author’s story loosely based off of the events following canon homestuck

Meat is too dark and bloody, Candy is too sweet and artificial

The true story is unwritten, a balanced combination of both Meat and Candy, and it is nearly impossible to recognize even when looking right at it, because understanding the truth requires understanding two other minds, one of which we hardly know at all

Caliborn’s story has ended, he had enough time in the spotlight. An equal to him determines what happens now, and suddenly the reigns are passed to Calliope, who does their best to share them with you, the reader. Giving you a taste of control, YOU determine the truth of the aftermath. You are the ultimate self. Calliope(hussie?) has written this in a way that you can justify just about anything you want as long as it is viewed through this lense. Maybe there is a right answer, but it’s just as likely that any answer is right! Like a frustratingly riddled sprite, this is your given guide! Hoo hoo hoo! What a gift, this power you’ve been given! Have fun dear! The game is over! Now you tell me, what happened?

Greg vs Alleged Classmate Part 5: Skipping information and Relationship With Skye

So this one is hilariously suspicious, Greg totally skipped over the section about Skye, this was one of the biggest things in M’s posts and honestly one of the biggest parts of this interview. I’m not sure if Greg accidentally skipped too far or if this was deliberate but either way I’ll mention all that he skipped before going onto his rebuttals again. Also, this is two-thirds into the video. We’ve got half an hour left. FINALLY. Wow, I didn’t realise just how long this would take. And it isn’t just cause I’ve got one hand. This is a long one. Greg doesn’t actually counter anything but goes into detail of his relationship with Skye and reveals a lot about his personality. Spoiler alert: it’s disgusting!

What Greg skipped:

Skye was ignorant to Greg sleeping around and using girls

She also didn’t know about how he acted with other students

When they started dating, he suddenly changed as a person for a while. He was acting nice, no mood swings, and treated her as an equal

This apparently changed when he started doing things online but M doesn’t know much of that as he was busy doing other things in life. He just knew he went to his old manipulative ways (Greg listened to the tail end of this, just the superiority and manipulation part)

You know, one part of this is a bit suspicious, Greg said he met Skye in computer class the first time but didn’t really notice her because he was dating Shiree at the time. I wonder why Skye didn’t know anything about Greg if she did know him before dating (or at least of him). Too bad Greg totally skipped this cause he could have brought this point up himself

Greg is manipulative and his influence on Skye

Greg doesn’t counter him being manipulative, just asks for specifics. He then takes M saying he saw less and less of Skye to mean she didn’t ever go to school and went into a big thing debunking that thing instead of listening to the rest of this section where M explains it as Skye spending all of her time with Greg and none of her other friends anymore. Ok, now he’s talking about how terrible M is for just giving up and not reporting the abusive relationship to the authorities and how “isn’t M playing hero?”. M never said that, while yes I wish that if he is real that he had actually reported this issue, I can understand feeling defeated and not knowing the best course of action when you see someone in a relationship like that at that age. Or any age for that matter. I can say with certainty though is that if you see a friend in a situation like this, please talk with them about it. And if they’re too far gone that they even stop being friends with you over it, please talk to your, or their guidance counsellor. It’s hard, but it could save them.

Also Greg, please keep in mind that hearsay isn’t all the same. To say someone has sex with goats for no reason is different from saying that they heard (but cannot confirm) that Greg started controlling Skye because he was scared she might leave him. Sure it’s not as solid as if they witnessed it themselves, but that’s why they gave that disclaimer. Especially as they said everything after the first story is based more on hearsay than events witnessed

Greg is now acting like people talking about how they stopped seeing Skye after high school took place in high school and is saying “with what money” could he have taken Skye. But it’s well known she went to Korea with you so....? Also, his dispute that he was living with Skye doesn’t actually dispute him potentially stopping her from going out and seeing her friends. It doesn’t matter where you are as long as you have influence over her. And I’d say living with her gives you that influence, even in her own home. During high school you spent all your time with her, then afterwards you stole her away to Korea and she didn’t see her family for a while. Not all that wacky when you take Lainey in mind. She spent all her after school with you, then when she graduated you stole her away to Washington and got married while her parents thought she was in university. Is it true? No idea, but it isn’t outlandish for Greg. Especially when his defence is that he, Skye, and her sister constantly played games together which plays into the idea that when they started dating her whole world had to be him.

Now Greg is going into the old videos he made with Skye and her 14-year-old sister where they pretended to have sex. Lovely

Side note, Greg mentions he can’t remember exact details of a story involving Skye and the order or date things happened yet apparently M needs to remember everything. And if he doesn’t, he’s a liar based on that. Oh btw, I’m guessing Greg doesn’t like Skye’s dad cause he just called him a perv, how routine of you Greg. Can’t you come up with some better character slander than “he’s a pedo and a perv”?

Greg keeps up the narrative that M is saying he literally kidnapped Skye instead of her dropping contact with friends and arguing that that would be illegal. Good thing M didn’t claim that, cause that would be stupid

Greg dodges how he treated Skye

Greg is avoiding the point of how he treated Skye by still talking about kidnapping her despite it being clear we’ve moved onto M’s opinion of events he found out about later through people’s videos on Greg.

Greg is now victim-blaming by saying he told Skye he could never make her happy. True, but cheating on her and telling her you were in love with her younger sister is still out of left field and crazy to experience

Greg is also still showing that despite his experience with a chronically depressed Skye, he still thinks one just gets over depression by getting happy things. He even pointed out that buying her a house because she liked it wasn’t enough (no shit Sherlock, that’s why rich people can be depressed). This whole thing makes me feel so much worse for Skye, she was a person suffering from depression and she gets Greg of all fucking people. How fucking terrible

“We made love before I left [for the military], but we were still broken up”. You had just broken up with her to go to the military then still “made love” with her. Damn, that whiplash. You made loveless love. Something tells me that this wasn’t entirely loveless, at least on her part. Then you asked her to be at your graduation and made love in the hotel room. According to you it wasn't loving, but it was a relationship where you felt like “bros hanging out” and you made love. I’m sorry but the way you’re describing it doesn’t sound like a friends-with-benefits situation. Especially when you shit on Adrienne for having had casual encounters in the past. Also, I love how the picture during this section is a picture of Lainey and Greg together. Nice one to have while talking about your first wife. The one you took to Korea (for work, but still) and bought a house for and felt like “best bros” with. And the one you are currently describing your former sexcapades with.

Ok, so the reason it wasn’t true love to Greg was that he didn’t simply lust after her (complete with sound effects, thanks Greg). He’s literally throwing away how great of a person she was, how well they got along, the fact that he felt love towards her and love so many aspects of her because he didn’t feel, and I’m trying to quote here, “she’s so hot, ugh, oooogh”. And he didn’t feel like she was as hot as Thor, Andy Biersack, and Jensen Ackles is while saying that “it’s saying something” that he listed all dudes. Wow, I can’t tell if this is insulting Skye because he’s basically just saying she was perfect but it didn’t matter because she wasn’t hot, or insulting Lainey by him saying Lainey is only attractive to him because they look like a 30-40-year-old dude. Or he’s saying that Lainey just isn’t hot to him. Or maybe this was a mix of all of these, plus he had gone too long without a gay joke.

Ok, he’s saying a person isn’t a friend if he’s aroused by them and he married Skye as a friend because she didn’t arouse him but he loved doing “these things, making love things” to her. I just can’t. I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to offer much more than variations of “this makes no sense” on this, but I just can’t. What on earth is wrong with this guy, and why is his defence of treating Skye like shit just shitting on her more and saying that it’s fine because she was a friend he liked “making love” to but didn’t find arousing. Yet is now going into “[his] arousal, and her arousal and their mutual arousal”

New picture of him kissing Lainey in the background over: “what would be better than marrying this person who I had a friends-with-benefits relationship with, and living off [military] base with them, and watching anime with them, and playing video games with them, etc. So I proposed this to her, I said ‘hey, we should get married so we can hang out all the time’. And so we continued this friends-with-benefits relationship where we loved each other, and we made love, and we were exclusive”. But then goes onto how it wasn’t “typical” because it wasn’t (said in a monotone voice versus animated up until this point) “ever since I met you, my soul has been complete” but instead “ever since I met you I’ve felt content and complete, for the most part”. “We would make videos together like friends would” but it wasn’t passionate, and “by the end of the relationship we wouldn’t make love that often”. I had to write down the above because it needs to be heard/read. I have no idea what Greg thinks love is, but by the sound of his voice and what he’s describing here, this is it. I don’t know why making videos seems to only be a thing which friends do. I also don’t understand why he states he wasn’t aroused by her yet later says he was. It wasn't loving, but here’s why it is, oh wait but we made videos together like bros do.

Finally, Greg has come to his point which is that their relationship wasn’t the love M describes it as being. But this now contradicts the point he made at the beginning of this video to defend his remembering all his past girlfriends, even from grade 2. He said it was because he is a passionate person who falls in love fast and hard. So he told this whole story only to contradict himself and make himself look even worse with all this extra info on Skye. I can understand not being in total passionate love with a person but they’re comfortable, but what he describes is so weird it isn’t that. Especially with his weird reasoning that he ended up contradicting

“You know who I was really in love with? Shiree” Said over the Lainey picture. Lol. Also, he slips up then talks about his love in the first person. Anyways he goes onto talk about losing his virginity to her at age 14 and talked on the phone for 9 hours which was “real passion” vs Skye where when together you “simply played games together”. Cool bro, guess my marriage is passionless cause gaming is something only friends do

Sharnell confirmed?

Minor thing but Greg suddenly partially remembers the name of his long-distance ex as Shannon or Sharon or something. I suspected this ex was Sharnell and the name seems similar enough that this is likely it as there are no other girls listed which are similar enough in name, and no one matches the bacne story of him breaking up with a girl because of it.

Greg skips details again:

Greg finally realises this is all post-high school and skips forward because he decided against talking about the Shiloh situation, coward

He also accidentally skipped details on the girl he cheated on Skye with in high school. By the description, this sounds like either Tanisha or Shiree due to him calling them “a trashy whore who does drugs” one minute and their best friend the other which is kind of how he describes Shiree. Tanisha was another ex at that school who apparently did drugs though so I figured I’d add her here too. It’s a shame he skipped this part, I’d have loved to hear his response.

The contract

Oh boy! Greg’s talking about the stupid contract he tried to get Skye to sign! I’m sensing an alimony statement :D

Greg is now showing off his lack of humanity by getting mad at her and saying how he doesn’t understand why she didn’t want to live with her cheating ex-husband for two years while he made all the money on the channel she helped create. He’s now acting very confused and is trying to parse her words which were that “she still loved him and it was too painful to live with the person she loved but couldn’t be with”. But he still doesn’t get it because he was fine coexisting with her (right after explaining that he never loved her for about 20 minutes) and he was the one who broke it off and he wasn’t mad at her and is now talking about how he didn’t want to be married in a passionless relationship with his friend. This guy is legit really confused right now. He has his answer right there but he’s still confused and sounds like it. It actually sounds like he’s still trying to figure this out, what? 7 years later? Wow, that was an emotional ride. I almost feel bad for the guy, he actually doesn’t understand empathy, he doesn’t understand that just because feels one way, doesn’t mean the other party feels that way too.

And is now talking about his 6 years of alimony payments. I’m glad Skye got them. She made your channel Greg, you made millions, she got nothing while in the relationship but a partner who confesses to using her while she loved them, and who she worked as an employee for free. She was entitled to half this creative property and you basically gave her pennies compared to your wealth.

Now he’s saying the reason this happened was because she didn’t sign a prenup. Yeah, cause it’s a shitty thing to do, especially because it’s not like you had money then. Your prenup was “if we make any money together I keep all of it when I divorce you, which I expect to do”. Both of you made the channel, she did the editing and taught you how to do it while you stopped her from getting her own job and shut your depressed wife in (depressed people should not remain shut-ins, that’s the last thing they need). Prenups are for rich people so, in the case of a divorce, your former partner can’t take money made before they came in the picture. Yes, it’s used for other clauses too but those people are all assholes or are in a relationship just for the vanity of having a hot person as their partner for sex and will drop them when they get too old. The later one is basically sex work. “Marry me and for the time of your employment (our marriage), I’ll buy you expensive things and give you pocket money in exchange for sex and various other work”

I’ve probably read it like 5 times. Kinda slow burn kinda not? Internalized homophobia and homophobia from family warnings.

Summary: "Two whole months of free laundry in exchange for two weeks of being my fake boyfriend. Deal?” Keith hesitated for a moment. Was this really worth it? Hardly. Lance was an asshole, and he wasn’t sure what fake dating would entail. But, free laundry was free laundry, right? “Alright, it’s a deal.” Or: Lance makes the mistake of telling his Mom he has a boyfriend coming home with him for Christmas. Keith makes the mistake of agreeing to be Lance's 'fake boyfriend'.

Pretty sure I was sobbing through multiple chapters. Real slow burn, but the build up is so worth it especially with how amazing the plot is. I’ve got quotes from this fic hanging on my wall rn that’s how fantastic the writing is. Suicide and internalized homophobia warnings.

Summary:As it turns out, learning that your house is haunted makes the ghosts a lot more aggressive. Who knew? Ah, well. At least one of them is hot. And he's the less-evil one, too, so that's always a plus.

This is more of a collection of short stories based around Keith, Lance, and the gang than an actual plot filled fic and normally I don’t like that sort of thing, but I’m in love with this because it’s so funny and cute and despite it having 37 parts and counting, it doesn’t get boring or tedious at all. There’s a couple angsty parts especially regarding Keith’s Tragic Backstory but it’s all around just amazing.

Summary: “So that was…” “If you say painless I’m shoving you into another snowdrift.” “Okay, that’s fair. But you got a lollipop!” “That you stole from pediatrics.” “I’m a very good date.” Lance accidentally crashes into his new neighbor in front of their mailboxes and somehow ends the night with a very attractive (and slightly concussed) date.

Bodyguard AU!!! Altean Prince Lance with Galra Bodyguard Keith is literally my favorite thing ever I love it. This fic gave me whiplash with the amount of times everything went from nice and happy to death and destruction in a heart beat it’s crazy. Least to say, lots of angst.

Summary: With the destruction of their home planet, the remaining Galra are forced to take refuge with the kind Alteans. Much darker plans begin to take shape and a young Galra solider is made the bodyguard of the Altean Prince, with orders to kill him when the time is right. However, the charming prince manages to capture the Galra's heart and ends up being captivated by the solider in return.The prince and the bodyguard are thrown into perilous adventures, all the while trying to stay together and keep each other safe.

Shadow of the Past and Ghost of the Future by wittyy_name and Zizzani

These two fics are mirror fics, which is so cool. Basically Lance gets sent one year into the future and future Lance gets sent back one year. SoP is from Lance’s POV while he’s in the future and GoF is from Keith’s POV while future Lance is in the past with him. I really love this fic and I’m always checking in for updates, which come in pairs (one for each fic). It doesn’t matter which order you read them btw.

Summary: (SoP) When Lance is thrown through time, he finds himself one year in the future, in place of the Lance that should be here.He finds his team to be remarkably familiar, yet distinctly different. They have more scars, a better grip on the whole saving the universe thing, and over a year’s worth of teamwork to bind them together. But the weirdest part? Keith seems to be a lot more touchy with him. Not that he’s complaining… much.The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance’s places and restore them to their original timelines. But despite the fact that they’re still his friends, Lance can’t help but feel a little out of place among a team that’s been through so much with a Lance that just isn’t him. And it doesn’t help that the team is on edge around him, refusing to tell him anything for fear of influencing and changing the past. Things get even more complicated when they have to rely on the team in the past to complete the switch, leaving Lance to little more than sit, wait, and attempt to fill in his future self’s shoes.

(GoF) When Lance is thrown through time, his future self from one year ahead is transported to the past in his place.This Lance is faster, stronger, and markedly more mature. Not only that, but he's distinctly more intuitive about his teammates and A LOT more touchy with Keith.The team must try and work out how to reverse the two Lance's places and restore them to their original timelines. Things only get more complicated when the Future Lance can't seem to remember where he was when the switch happened, and he refuses to reveal anything about his own time for fear of influencing the team's decisions.

The Hurricane In His Veins by magisterpavus

So this is actually Shklance because I don’t have enough recs for this ship to make it it’s own post and this fic is honestly just really really good. It’s probably my favorite out of everything here. It’s a vampire AU and I love it so much. The plot is incredible (the author should publish a book tbh it’s that good I’d buy it), there are some really cute moments, and it’s goddamn hilarious. There’s the perfect combination of angst, smut, and fluff and I’ve read this about 10 times since I discovered it a couple months ago. I suggest it even if you don’t ship Shklance tbh it’s that good.

Summary: It’s the summer after high school graduation, and Lance, Hunk, and Pidge are spending three months together in Pidge’s sleepy California hometown, Rosewood, before they all go their separate ways in life. It’s supposed to be fun and relaxing, filled with long days at the beach and even longer nights playing video games; a last hurrah with Lance’s best friends.But when one of Pidge’s ridiculous cryptid searches leads the trio to a mysterious pair of vampires in the woods and the web of magic and murder that they’re entangled in, the summer gets a lot more complicated…and more dangerous than they could’ve imagined.

My Transformers Fancon: Decepticon High Command, Part III

-Tarn of Nyon commands the Decepticon Secret Police, in charge of stomping out internal dissent, and personally leads the DSP's elite Justice Division, which hunts down and brutally kills defectors. As demonstrated by his renaming himself after Megatron's hometown and having his face remade into the Decepticon logo, no one is more loyal to Megatron and the Decepticon cause, not even Soundwave. For one, Soundwave justifies his loyalty by being deeply in denial about the monsters they've turned into, whereas Tarn has no such illusions, and is fanatically devoted anyways. Soundwave also has his own ambitions, whereas Tarn genuinely cares for nothing but seeing Megatron's will be done. Not having realized that Megatron views this slavish devotion with contempt, Tarn is completely baffled why Megatron values Soundwave more than him, and subsequently hates the Intelligence chief with the intensity of a supernova. The only person he hates more is Starscream, who routinely attempts to betray Megatron and yet somehow remains second-in-command. Depsite his attempts not to show his true feelings to his superiors, they're both well aware of it; Soundwave ignores it, except when he needs to manipulate the DSP commander, whereas Starscream finds Tarn's impotent rage hilarious and makes a point of provoking him for kicks. -Thunderwing of Iacon is the newest member of High Command. Powerful, skilled, brilliant and charismatic, he led his Mayhem Attack Squad to some of the Decepticons' greatest victories. He came up with Pretender shells (though the tech was perfected by Shockwave and Tarantulas). He has never shown the slightest hint of disloyalty. He is the only member of High Command that Megatron worries about; everyone else, Megs has a bead on, is totally confident he can take on, or both. Thunderwing, however, is a complete enigma, and is every bit as badass as Megatron. For this reason, Megatron took the unusual step of assigning one of the Megacons, Bludgeon, to serve under Thunderwing and thus keep an eye on him.

-Tyrannitron of the Sector 4/6.4-K Campaign is the youngest member of Decepticon High Command, having been born only a few million years ago (you can tell he's warborn because his name refers to his first battle rather than his place of birth). A brilliant strategist and tactician, and an equally adept personal manipulator, Tyrannitron is the commander of the Decepticon Battle Fleet. While he has shown himself quite capable of commanding troops in the field as he is ships in space, he ever commanded Vehicon drones planetside. This because, while a Point-One-Percenter like his parent Archforce (to whom he bears a striking resemblance) and thus able to punch far above his weight-class, he is a Mini-Con. Given the might-makes-right philosophy of the Decepticons, this would mean that, where he to lead ordinary troops, he would face constant challenges to prove his fitness to lead, which while he is confident of winning said challenges (again, Point-One-Percenter), he doesn't have the patience. On the upside, it also meant that, unlike, say, Thunderwing, he has managed to avoid setting off the suspicions of Megatron and his inner circle.

Jhiaxus: Second best. That is the phrase that most Decepticons, and even some Autobots, would describe Jhiaxus, a brilliant scientist. Second best to Shockwave. Jhiaxus knows this what his peers think of him, and it infuriates and drives him in equal measure. In order to escape from under SHockwave's shadow he revolutionized the Decepticon's budding system, creating legions of warriors almost overnight. However, these warrioers are little more than cheap cannon fodder for the Decepticon cause, and have a shorter life expectancy on the battlefield compared to the older Decpticon warriors, earning them the derisive nickname "Genericons". At the urging of Shockwave, Megatron assigned the Genericon legions to mere garrison duties, or to throw them at Autobot defenses whenever Megatron needs to distract the Bots from his true objective. This ignoble fate to what was once his crowning achievement only spurs Jhiaxus to improve upon his designs, upgrading the Genericons, an creating even more horrible monstrosities in his lab.

Currently, Jhiaxus is in command of ‘Con controlled Cybertron

Onslaught: A decorated veteran officer of the Primal Vanguard, Onslaught left that prestigious institution in defiance of Functionism's, and by extension, Senator Proteus', growing power on Cybertron. Onslaught signed on with the Decepticon movement, and used his military knowhow to win several victories during the Functionist revolt. Onslaught and his elite team, the Combaticons, were responsible for several daring raids into Autobot held territory, and gained a reputation for planning almost every outcome. However, the old saying, "No plan survives contact with the enemy", rings true, and although he plans for almost anything, Onslaught cannot plan for every eventuality, and if enough things go wrong, will lose his cool and resort to simply blowing the slag out of the enemy. This deficiency prevents Onslaught from moving up in the Decepticon Hierarchy, but he doesn't let it show on the surface, and is liable to kill anyone who attempts to taunt him.

Razorclaw: While Onslaught plans ahead of the battle, Razorclaw makes his plans durring the middle of battle. His ability to take the unexpected with a clear, cool head makes Razorclaw's Predacons one of the fiercest squads in the entire Decepticon war machine. Emotionless almost to Shockwave's level, Razorclaw was a gladiator, but he and his team operated in Vos, and as such never met Megatron in the arena. However, he had heard of Megatron, and pledged his loyalty to him at the onset of the Functionist Revolt, ruthlessly hunting down Proteus' supporters with a silent enthusiasm that was as unnerving as it was effective. Razorclaw is straightforward, and doesn't seek advancment in the ranks, seemingly content in his current position. Some see this as laziness, but if you look beneath his contentment, you will see that Razorclaw is one of the most dangerous Decepticons because of this; he cannot be bought, bribed, intimidated, cajoled, or manipulated. All that matters to him is the hunt, and many an unfortunate Con that got on his badside became the prey.

BTW, something I tried to indicate but I'm not sure came through. There were two kinds of gladiatorial combat on Cybertron prior to the Great War, Arena Games, which were legal, restricted to trained gladiators, and had strict rules to minimize lethality, and Pit Fights, which were illegal, anyone can have a go, and the only rules are to put on a good show and try not to kill the audience. Mind, given how much punishment TFs can take, Pit Fights aren't that much more brutal or lethal than Arena Games. The real appeal of the Pit Fights is in their unpredictability; you can see a master of Metallikato go up against some big guy with a rocket punch, see a Beast-former take on a Tank, or who knows what.

Anyways, Razorclaw was an Arena Gladiator, because (as SB and SV poster Q99 put it...)

Razorclaw is a smart fighter, and he loves outfighting his opponents. Arena Fighters are almost all trained combatants at the upper levels, of the type he loves defeating, so once he's in the upper ranks his foes are almost all high-quality... though still not a match for him. Pit Fighters, you're more likely to see foes rely on raw power or a gimmick, and while he respects the more skilled fighters there, he doesn't want to waste time with the 'chaff' who got in because they happen to be a tank or such, or deal with silly 'three lesser bots vs one champ' matches, and as pit fighters are less regimented even good fighters there spend more time dealing with that kind of thing.

Which adds a bit of tension because Megatron and half of High Command were Kaonian Pit Fighters, so naturally they're going to think poorly of a Vosian Arena Gladiator. BTW, speaking of raw power versus skill, I imagine that... -Megatron, of course, is both hella powerful and crazy skilled

-Thunderwing is as well.

-Shockwave is actually a terrible fighter but makes up for her lack of skill with raw power.

-Starscream is the opposite; physically the weakest member of High Command, but makes up for it with skill.

-Scorponok is a beast, and he's got raw talent at fighting, but has no polish or finesse.

-Cryotek's strong, and used to be a good fighter, but he's rusty.

-Soundwave is a good mix of power and skill.

-Tyrannitron is similar, but has a fondness for trickery, head games, and such.

-Tarn is just this side of invincible, but finds brute force distasteful.

-Jhiaxus is unskilled, makes up for it with power, but not to the same extant as Shockwave.

-Onslaught has strength, but finesse he saves for his strategies.

-Razorclaw is both skilled and strong, but not to the same extant as Megatron, or Thunderwing.

-Dirt Boss was a scrappy little guy who always preferred to cheat. This may be one of the reasons he's dead.

Now I know what you’re thinking; Dirt Boss? You didn’t mention Dirt Boss. That’s because he’s dead, having been killed by Prowl. Before that, Dirt Boss was commander of the Combat Engineering Corps, and a member of Megatron's inner circle. Since his death, the Constructicons have resisted any attempt to appoint a permanent replacement and instead take turns holding the office. Megatron is not happy about this, but is unwilling to make an issue of it.

A few bits and bobs about Deception High Command:

-The Megacons are not technically members of High Command, but as Megatron's personal goon squad, each member holds comparable authority. In addition to the original line-up (sans Bludgeon) of Airachnid, Blackout, Thunderblast, and Lugnut, they've since added Lugnut's lover Strika, her conjunx Obsidian, and Megatron's personal medic, Scalpel. -A personality conflict I neglected to mention; while she doesn't act on it, Shockwave really doesn't like Cryotek, for reasons that should be obvious. -I haven't figured out what Tarn did before the War; I can't decide if he was also a Pit Fighter or if he did something else. What do you guys think?

-In addition to Shockwave and Tarantulas, a surprising number of the top Decepticons have science backgrounds (thanks to SVer KageX)

For Starscream since he was leader of the Exploration Corps perhaps his expertise lies not in the lab developing new weapons but in "surveying" areas and coming up with ways to exploit resources as well as how to survive in them. Think of the difference between a Geologist and a Chemist. Yes there is some overlap, but they focus on different areas of application. Starscream focuses on planning "field operations" and harvesting resources in his area of scientific expertise. He would know how to fix a shuttle, but it would not be his area of expertise, just something he picked up along the way as he was exploring distant areas of the universe. It would also explain his slippery nature, as this job would likely involve meeting with and negotiating with Alien Races. So Starscream became quite good at "negotiations" and other political endeavors.

- Shockwave is a polymath who is a master of all fields of hard science. Jhiaxus is more specialized; he does cybergenetics, mechanobiology, electronics, etc. but if you ask him about astrophysics or climatology, he's got nothing. Scorponok is interested in organic biology, but doesn't advertise this, since your average 'Con is at best apathetic about organics, and many actively hate 'em. Thunderwing is a dabbler; he reads scientific journals*, and will periodically come up with a clever idea, but doesn't really pursue the sciences.

-How Thunderwing came up with Pretender Shells: after conquering a particular planet, he made a point of studying their tech base, realized that some of their tech could be combined with Cybertronian tech to do something interesting, and sent Shockwave a memo. Shockwave agreed he was onto something, and she and Tarantulas made something out of it.

Oh honey, same! Here’s my list, whoch has some Solid Reasons but the main one is who makes me recreate this gif:

More enthusiastically, which is very personal, otherwise by level of awesomeness it’d be, like, a 10-way tie!

1 - Meredith. I feel in love with her in the first ep and that has only grow exponentially over the last 15 seasons. Is she perfect? As far for it as possible. She can be harsh and inconsiderate of other people’s feelings, she can be arrogant and agressive. I know that. But I also feel she’s the character who’s the most aware of her own flaws and who actively tries to overcome them. Her whole relationship with Derek was a six season long of her working over her issues until she felt ready to be more intimate and close to someone and marry him. I feel like everyone is a little too harsh on her (main character curse). Every other person on the show is allowed to have bad days, to lash out and mourn and be sefish whrn they’re going through a lot (i mean, Amy has a whole speech to Mer about how “she’s never lost the love of her life” and “she doesn’t know how that messes a person up, and yet I see so many people agreeing with that and hating Mer when she was the one in Amy’s position and also took some less than stellar, hurtful decisions) but Mer, who has quantitatively gone through the most (not a competition because I feel she, Jo and Amy are on equal footing, just by sheer number of bad things), is called whinny, bitchy, cold, uncaring, when she is anything but! She cares so freaking much she’s willingb to go to any distance! Donating her liver to her stranded father because of her loved little sister? Risking her job and career for someone she loves? Risking her life/career/license for patients? Welcomig people in her home with open arms? Operating through a miscarriage while her husband lies dying on the next OR? Being a great friend who defends, sticks by, forgives, comforts and protects who she loves from abusive exes, jail, judgment or tests? She has done all that and more. Also, she’s so empathetic/compassionate! She refused to bet on George’s failure on season one, she was the only one to try and shield that “tumor pregnancy” patient from judgment, she was the only one (not her best and oldest friend or hes husband, Mer) to get Jo to talk after she became depressed, she defended Cristina’s choice to Owen even if that was not what she’d personally do (she had tried so hard for a baby! She went out of her way to adopt Zola!) not just because she had empathy for the fetus that would grow to mimic her own situation, but for the woman who would mimic her mother’s (also, low-key one of the best speeches, damn)! She feels everyone’s pains and tries her best to help! She’s dorky and fun and smiles so often, no matter how bad her life has been! She pushes people to be their best (Alex, Cristina, Jo). She’s a great teacher! Also, one of the things that make me the softest is how she recognizes the flaws in her upbringing and tries her best to correct them and not continue that bad cycle with her own children! When she’s mad and needs to be alone, she tells Zola “you’re perfect, and mommy needs a minute”. When she’s dating, she puts her kid’s feelings first and foremost! When she’s away from them, she misses them like crazy! She talks about them with a brilliant, vivid smile! All of her relationships are fantastic (she’s such a people-person, as much as she tries to cover it up and doesn’t know how to truly express it) and some criminally underrated. She’s a kind, brilliant, loving, still flawed, beautiful woman who deserves the world and more, and I’m on Meredith Grey’s defense squad from now till forever!

2 - Arizona. As a bubbly blonde wlw who’s interested in being a pediatric surgeon, has authority+parental issues and an older sibling she loves, Arizona is one of those “I see myself in them” characters that just make me so happy! I felt both represented and inspired to try my best, to be at the top of my game but jot let go of my humanity and compassion and happiness. It’s weird because I didn’t quite like her in the first few eps she appeared, as she was rude and biphobic and kinda crass. Then she grew on me enormously. I think her relationships are all so criminally underrated, and that she should come back with Callie and Sophia and April in tow and make my day. I suffered when she suffered, and when she smiles, I feel lighter and happier, truly! She showcases some important messages! I have said this in a previous post, but I love that she... Came into the show and left pretty much the same. Her arc wasn’t as much about change as it was about finding herself again, glueing her pieces back together again. She entered a bubbly, hardcore, brilliant peds surgeon who had a very strong, clear set of values, was able-bodied, enamorated with Callie Torres and didn’t want to have children, out and proud and beautiful. She left a bubbly, hardcore peds+fetal surgeon, a mother, with a very strong, clear set of values, woman with a disability, enamorated with Callie Torres, out and proud and beautiful. Some things changed and she grew, like any healthy, normal human being, but seeing her get lost in such a dark place where so litte of the true Arizona showed through and then have her come back to who she truly was, stronger and wiser and more determined, really puts out a hopeful message that I adore.

3 - Amelia. Has she been inconsistent? Did they apparently slap the tumor storyline on her already suffering character just to make up for it? Yeah. But overall I completely adore Amy. She has been through so much, so repeatedly, and I’m amazed at how she’s still... Such a deeply good person. She smiles and laughs and cares and helps and works and saves and emphatisazes and worries and loves. She’s adorable with children and so loving with Mer’s. She’s kind to the point of almost being a pushover, but knows when to stand up for herself. I adore her and Mer’s relationsjip and wish it was a lot more developed! I love those two strong, tragedy-plaged women having each other as a support system! I love how soft she is with Maggie, how she’s so considerate of her! I love how she fughts to be in Leo’s life! I love how she worries about what’s best for everyone! And I hope she has a lot of good coming her way those next seasons. She deserves the world.

4 - Maggie. She’s such a breathe of fresh air! She’s bubbly and awkward and stuttering and idealistic and worry-prone! She is learning! She feel so real, so relatable! Can she be annoying? Sure! A lot of the times! I have been annoyed with her a lot! But there are so many characters who have that flaw and worse and are so loved, why is she so scorned? Being brilliant, young, still figuring things out, hard-worker, sensitive, those are not flaws or bad things. Maggie deserves a world of happiness and some kids of her own to smother with that gentle love of hers, and to have more developed relationship with everyone in that show. Also, the lady-chief trifecta gives me life! She’s a good balance to all thsoe tragedy-stricken, life-weary people at GSMH and I stand by that.

5 - Bailey is fantastic and badass and one part of a powercouple that owns my heart and a goddamn talented surgeon and an adorable mother and probably gives the best hugs and the actress is SO DAMN TALENTED like that eye acting? A MASTERPIECE. She’s also one of the hearts of the show and it’d not be the same without her. She reminds me a lot of Peggy Carter - golden hearted badassess who’ve been put through the ringer by people who ask her to measure up to her male (and, in bailey’s case, white) colleagues - and who not only does it but is usually better than then. Not gonna lie, when she got chief, I felt like it had been my own flesh and blood being promoted to her dream job! But I don’t feel like it did her too well (neither does the narrative, apparently, since they had her get a heartattack and a sabatical and relationship problems because of it). I know it wont happen but I wish she’d, like, take a nice trip, maybe write a book, vacay, breath, work on her mental health and come back feeling good and ready to take on the world! One of the scenes that makes her be so awesome to me is her talk with Cristina when they’re both pregnant: Bailey, cuddling her stomach and loving her unborn baby, telling Cristina (wary and tired and absolutely not wanting to be carrying a fetus) that no one can judge her for her choice and that she is able to make that choice! Talk about supporting women on different paths than you! What pushes her “ranking” a bit lower on my list than what it’d have been in the first seasons is that the fandom put her on such a pedestal that she cannot be or do no wrong, ever, and that quickly makes me sick of a character. Bailey commits insurance fraud (changing the hour on a surgery so it’d be covered) to help a patient? Have never seen anyone even comment on it. Mer/Alex do the same? Oh nooooo, go off on them, Bailey! Bailey’s such a hardass she’s nicknamed “the Nazi”? BADASS (and she was). Any other character is hard on their interns/residents? Monsters, bitches, poor things. It’s more an issue with the fandom, ofc, but well, that has made me hate characters I previously loved, so I’m really sad it happed to her (not that I hate her, I love her, I’ve just became annoyed with the character), and with characters that become “mouthpieces” to the narrative (wanna show the character is wrong? Have Bailey yell at them, even if Bailey might be on their side/not care/have done the same or similar/isn’t that close to them) and thus, loose a bit of their authenticity. Plus, there’s this one thing that’s core to her personality and makes me annoyed (probs irrationally): any doctor: screws up bailey: I RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS. Like, you... Didn’t? They were grown-ass adults when they came to know her, were her interns for... Under a year? (it felt like a long time to us but the first three seasons were a year and they had vacation and she went on maternity leave). And then went their merry ways with her being a resident and them too (not to count the ones that weren’t even her interns, like April and Jackson. Plus, have you considered that with all their screw-ups (and there have been maaaaany), she should either realize that she isn’t responsible for their actions and stop pulling that tired, over-used, untrue card, or that she might not have “raised” them so well, if she insists that’s what she did? I get the feeling and it’s sweet, just... not True and kinda overused.

6 - Lexie. Death I cried the hardest. She was such a baby, trying her goddamn best! So smart, so kind, so passionate! I also really identified wither her “dorky, clumsy younger sibling who most people would (wrongly) name “the smart one”, the overeating and the romanticism and the passionate arguing over facorite characters). She’s just not quite as far up on my list because A) It’s been so long and I’m not yet on my rewatch where she shows up, so I feel like I might be glorifying/glossing over her flaws, B) Her immaturity in the relationship with Mark is annoying, C) The fandom glosses over all her flaws and always, always, always places her as 100% the only, sole, victim, which turns me off a lot, D) She was kind of a Mary Sue. I mean, photographic memory that allows her borderline superpowers and being so sweet it was almost nauseating and never being wrong and being irresistible and and and...and E) SHE HAD THE AUDACITY TO DIE LIKE THAT AND BREAK MY GODDAMN HEART.

7 -Callie! My sweet angel Callie! She’s just... I don’t even have words! Her relationships are all funny and amazing and I loved her from when she first appeared, as much as she’s changed throughout the seasons! I love that she is selfless and brave and wild and fun and quitky. It breaks my heart to see her sad, and I’ll never forgive her mother for the treatment of her! She definetly deserves better. I am so sad she’s not on the show anymore, just hope that she’s happy with Ari and their kid (s? Now? Maybe? Wouldn’t that be great?).

8 - Cristina. He character is refreshing, because she is allowed. To continue not being a people person. To have moments and realizations and weakness without taking a 180° turn and going from a type A to B in a second with no explanation (like in every Holidays movie in which a successful business woman who’s dedicated herself to her career all her life moves to a small city and suddenly, after meeting one “soft”guy, is a farm girl at heart who wants to have ten children and a traditional wedding and quit her job to stay-at-home because reasons). To have an abortion. To continue not wanting children. To marry and divorce and still be a whole person. To have her years of sacrifice and hard work pay off with the biggest career glow-up. Sandra’s acting knocks it out of the park, too, there’s no contest. Also, for a “robot”, she has some of the most emotional, deep, telling scenes in the show! Taking care of Mer before the boards even if it might mean she’d get sick too? Her scene with George’s dad? Crying to Webber because she “lost her edge?” The “i’m free” scene? Talking about her father? Ugh, my heart! I placed her “low” (Still top ten female characters and top ten Grey’s characters tho) because, as amazing as she is, she also reminds me a lot of people that ruined my life or made it miserable. That sass and arrogance and and self-centered tendencies might be endearing in-character but irl, I’d suffer if I had to be around her. Also, because I’m too much a Mer stan (and I admit that this point is a total bias), I kinda still can’t let go of their fight in season 9 (when Mer had Bailey and Cristina felt left out and just... Was not nice about it). Humans make mistakes! She wasn’t 100% in the wrong! Mer said some crap too! But as I said, this is based on feelings more than fact and that one fight left me so uncomfortable and I felt Cristina crossed some really personally-important-to-me lines. Plus, there’s this glorification some things of her that just... Make me angry. This is coming from someone from a family with lots of doctors, who’s studying to be a doctor, who’s had all her teachers stop in class to beg us to ask for help and work on our mental health, whose choice in profession was the reason the university kick-started one of the country’s first mental health support system for students (that now includes all curses but was created for Med students): The profession is sick. Doctors are suicidal and overworked and unhealthy and tired and dropping dead like freaking flies, and that’s even worse in surgeons. My uncle (also a cardiologist, funnily enough) died at fifty from a heart attack because he worked himself to death. My aunt died from a manageable condition in a minor procedure because she let it go on to long before treating (working). My other aunt has lost many close doctor friends to heart problems. My cousin and another uncle are depressed. My sister almost developed a tachycardia from trying to stay awake using energetics during her residency. My class is all physically sick (I’m writting this from bed) because we’re so overwhelmed with a course that’s not only integral but demands so much, and we’re just students. A doctor in my city died with his son in a car crash that left his daughter severely injured and on the brink of death coming back from the beach in the middle of the night because he was going to be on-call!

(Had to split it in paragraphs bc tumblr) Two doctors under forty-five died from sudden heart failures from being over-worked this year! And that’s just in my city (which is not a big city! At all) ! And being like Cristina (obsessed, power-hungry, sleeping at the hospital, eating basically crap to save time, havingonly one really close friend to the point that when they fought, living at the hospital, feeling like surgery is the only thing that completed her) is a recipe to disaster. You know what the profession also is? Divided. From the society that some consider they are “a gift to” to other health professions that they put themselves on a pedestal away from and everyone else is inferior, and from themselves, students that sabotage each other or refuse to colaborate and thus create teams that don’t work together, doctors that don’t communicate, don’t appreciate each other’s specialties and knowledge and help. Cristina doesn’t meet all that criteria, but some really remind me of her. So it kills me when I hear people say she was the best doctor, because she reminds me of so much that’s just... Wrong, that I see everyday, and it frustrates me. That is incredibly personal, and applying too much of the optics of reality to the show, but it’s my truth, and no matter how iconic the character is, I can’t shake it off.

9 - Jo. Baby girl is so ready to take on the world! I said this in my “Meredith x People” post, but Jo reminds me a lot of Mer! Same fierceness, stubborness, same rough edges, talented, caring, protective. Love her and Camilla’s acting makes her one of the deepest, most fascinating characters, and her storylines tell so many important messages! I just... Don’t have a lot to say about her, now that I’ve come to think about it, I feel like she’s pretty self-explanatory. Loved her-centric eps!

10 - Erica. I didn’t understand then and don’t understand now why the fuck is there so much hatred for her! She stood up for her rights! She didn’t take Cristina’s crap like everyone else (Cristina has her quirks and was bound to meet someone with whom they clashed who wouldn’t stand for it! That happened to be Erica!) She was ethical! She was so sweet with Callie! She was a great doctor! She wanted the hospital to be great and was willing to work for it! I feel like the main factors in it are that back then we were told, through the narrative, that we should and we were all young so we accepted that, and because the actress isn’t one of those bombshell model-likr beauties. Had it been, like, Jessica playing her in a more recent season, I doubt she would be that hated! Anyhow, I miss her.

11 - Addison. She was so great! Maybe not my favorite, but she had great moments and was criminally underrated! Maybe one day her coming back won’t be a delusion and I’ll have more to say here. What I do have to say is that she can be another example of the “show’s mouthpiece”, at least in regards to Derek. Like, we have her come back to Seattle and promptly scream at Mer for “letting Derek go” like he was the best thing in the world (lmao) without even knowing what had happened when... In reality... She literally cheated because she felt neglected and forgotten in their marriage, had a talk to Mer where she learned Derek had hurt her too... It feels cheap and unauthentic and gets in the way of my immersion.

12 - April. I can feel the confusion at why she’s ranking so low, but... April never really spoke to me. She had good moments, she was sweet, a good doctor, had great relationships and went through bad things, but in none of those moments was I standing up on my seat like I was with others. She went through a journey like Arizona’s, to find herself after something terrible instead of to change who she was, but still she’s called “the biggest evolution” by some fans and I just... Don’t see that (maybe it’s because Sarah Drew got even prettier with time so it was a visual evolution). I like her well enough. Lets put it that way: I’d not be at all opposed if she came back into the show, but I’d be also disappointed it wasn’t some other character I love more. I widh he had gotten more of her, actually! I’d probably like her more! I wanted more developed relationships, like with Mer (we could have had it aaaaaaaalllll x3) or Owen (they were in a war zone together and we barely see the aftermath besides a couple scenes with her telling hima bt the baby and at her first wedding), maybe with Riggs and Alex and even more fleshing out of Japril instead of more drama! She’d feel more real and appealing. Plus her whole storyline with taking the position of head of surgery and switching sides after she’d been one of the main advocators for Webber, then refusing to acknowledge she might not have been the nicest for it, kinda threw me off a bit (not a lot, it just felt random? Like, didn’t feel like something she’d do, but I didn’t think I knew enough about her to say it wasn’t, for sure?).

13 - Izzie. Again, she never appealed to me personally. She had amazing moments, but they were just moments. Opening a multi-million dollar beneficiary clinic? Top shelf-good. But she also had bad moments and, more importantly, bad patterns. She judged and judged Mer’s inappropriate relationship, almost got to the point of talking about it around the hospital to get her in trouble, called her a slut basically to her face, and whined about George’s “too fast, not based on anything” relationship... But would not accept to be judged on her own, even more inappropriate (and illegal) and equally rushed relationship. She did not approve when someone made a decision that she would not have made. She berated Meredith’s and Cristina’s close friendship like she was entitled to the same treatment and like she also didn’t have a best friend. I was bored by her most of the times, angry others, and only rarely pleased/happy/empathetic with.

As you can see, I only dislike the very last place, and hate none, so go girls! Hope you liked this!

Buenos Aires Calling!

The signs could not have been much better: My first ‘vacation’ lasting more than a week since the awesome festival so called “gneven im grünen”, three concert tickets for my more or less favorite band ‘die toten hosen’- a band I have followed along down the road, which not only makes good music but also supports smaller bands, ethical correct NGO´s and sometimes even play in your living room if you are lucky AND the promising city of Buenos Aires, which goes as the Berlin of South America, or not even Latino American anymore. So my expectations were quite high as well, still they s were exceeded...

My hostel was great, although I arrived way too early they welcomed me with breakfast and showers. As I did not take the first internet recommendation I ended up in a 100% spanish-speaking community, from which a few studied and others sadly escaping war in Venezuela and some others doing whatever. Crazy those two things, first I could never do my exchange semester out of a dormitory, as I already troubled falling a sleep when not completely wasted- how do people snore louder than a airplane taking off? Second why have we reached the point that people need to escape their homes again and shouldnt we welcome them a little more than given them a bed in return of work? You find Venezuelans everywhere in South America right now...

Anyway, I wanted to get to know this European city, which at first glance showed off with nice facades, broken sidewalks and a walkable traffic situation (remember Im used to Lima at the moment, I actually got quite a cultural shock when people actually followed traffic rules and not everyone looked quite similar). I did a walking tour, and right away I saw it at its best, stunning buildings and cemeteries everywhere(at least in the right suburb..) Btw the popularity of their steaks is based on the flatness of the countryside of Argentina, cows actually do have some space to walk around and not need to be cooped up in some stall. Afterwards, I stumbled around myself, and by this is into a huge demonstration. All kinds of human protested in favor of rights for everybody, especially Woman and the LGBT scene. Every of the last ten years more than 200 women has be mudered by their husband or partners, I have heard about it before, but seeing the demonstration showed me how serious the issue is and how many must have suffered domestic violence. I followed along and was quite impressed by the creativity and number of participants. It seems like still the authorities dont really care, as this has been run for over a year now...

Rushed from the energy of the protests I had a buncher Spätibeer (cerveza de ciosco) and decided to go see my friend from my old exchange semester in good old fresno..So we met 9 years ago and havent seen since. Ines were just working in a restaurant and I already had a few beers too many. So after she invited me for two more I tried too call it a night, which is always hard when you in a foreign city for the first time 10km away from your bed and trying to go by public transport. AllI know, I woke up in my hostel the next day and some blurry memories sitting in some other bar with some Germans, but I dont know why. Alright lets face it, probably the craving for more beer.

In the morning, I realized today would be the day I have never really imagined to become true. Seeing “Los Hosen” in Buenos Aires is said to be special. I always wanted to know what´s about it, because special is also sitting one hour in the” Berlin Ringbahn” and drink beer or the Chinese Wall, but neither gets a lot of my attention. After another day of enjoying various parts of the city I went in front of the venue, Museum, a buncher years ago crashed the stage in the second song and the concert was over. The first guys I approached were already a win in the lottery and I could not have asked for more. Spätibeer here and there and talks about everything what my Spanish has to offer. The show was crazy, a venue like SO36, long and narrow. A small terrace all around from which Campino (singer) jumped into the crowd and somehow mad his way back, totally red, as people did not want to let him go...A few punch were needed so he reached the stage again.

The crowd of 800-1000, of which maybe 100 were German, freaked out at pretty much every single song. Decent singing along but even harder dancing along. Everybody full of energy, led by a Band which noticeably enjoyed to be part of it once again. After the concert I went further to a few more Bars or you could call it Club even, energy for those after concerts partys I usually do not have after concerts in Germany. This night, I got a ride home, across the entire city, letting somebody out at the bus station apparently is no option when you their “guest”.

Party people

The same reason, the next day, I was invited to a match of one of the biggest football teams over there.. Boca Juniors, it was really interesting to see such a steep stadium which shacks because everybody jumps and how fascinated all the players and fans are. But I certainly have friends which can analyze those events way more. Side note: Argentina has stopped to allow fans of the visiting teams for all league games, in order to prevent violence. A working approach, but defiantly not in the sense of the sport.

A couple more or less boring hard working days for my uni were interrupted by a Cover concert and even more interesting of a Concert of the Magic Mystery tour show in a house in Buenos Aires. You can apply ahead and if you lucky the Hosen come to give a show and the fans possibly destroy all you have. I talked to many people who at least once tried it, but these gigs are quite precious. Getting inside this house was not possible, but through same delays in my taxi I arrived for the last few songs of the concert, which was totally sufficient for me. Except the drummer, everybody got outside of the house once and of course Campino climbed every fence there exist on the premises. Afterwards, a little party in front of the fence took place and once again a intercultural understanding with hands and legs. Knowing a few words of Spanish certainly made the situation even more fun and allowed me buying beer in the cioscos around, which was hard as for some reasons they only wanted to sell cold beer, but to understand this I almost failed.

Campino not only gave its best during the show, the aftershowparty he won against everybody!

Wow Wednesday already, but still two more official shows to go! The German Hosen fans, organized a bus tour to the town of the next venue, La Plata, which is 1-2 hours down south from BA. Ive almost missed the bus, due to lets face it: Hangoverness but also Credit Card issues, during which I kind of realized how screwed you could be in a foreign country. But all worked out and with 1 hour delay and a busdriver who ask after 1 hour ride where he actually supposed to head we were almost at our first stop: The barbeque party in some Argentina´s house. The owner just decided to through a party for everybody who wanted to come and as it was somebody´s birthday the owner bought beer and steaks for the most of them. (unluckily no grilled cheese, but this time people were at least to buy warm beer in the Späti next door) So i tackled my hangover from last night with a few beers and it become a really nice get-together with people from all parts of society, ages and regions of Germany and Argentina. The good bye was a kiss for the woman living there for everybody and the last existing steaks as “Schnittchen” for later. When was the last time you invited 70 unknown people to your backyard and when it comes to cleaning up they all get in a bus and you give them food and beer for the road? Arriving in front of the venue the people once again couldnt even wait to party on and sang along the sound check inside which was with the song “Reisefieber”, so an old and popular one, this was promising. I dedicated myself to socialize and to the Späti´s around so once inside It starts to be more of a blur...I remember a few songs, some crowdsurfing, an amazing venue as very wide, once again energized Hosen, more beer(in cans btw) and a few special acts. Is there anything more to ask for? Claro, afterparty, but this is even more of a blur...With many more beer and whatsoever for everybody who was tired or just wanted to be sure to make it a good night we drove through la plata and some other parties over there...At some point i recall 7 people, from which I knew 1 slightly before but good times. At some point at 6 or 7 we returned to BA, I was already sleeping in the car for a while. But the others were still going strong not being tired at the moment. Such a day, no shower, one more sip of beer and straight to bed. I reckon I will never get closer to Punk rock than this before.

Days with the most drinks, usually the ones with the fewest pictures for me ;)

Next day started slowly, ended slowly but again a Coverband concert, Peru tied Argentina, so know it´s very interesting who is going to qualify and another day I made a nice tour through the party area of Palermo with two new friends. The show on Saturday was in a huge venue of 5000-7000 people. The living room of the Ramones, they said. Many other guest, setlist switched again and At least the first third of the concert everybody went crazy once more. With forgoing time, people got more relaxed and only half of the stadium jumped along..I mobilized my last strength and had an amazing time. Meeting people in the crowed I have met during the last week and giving them a possible last high five or smile.

Los hosen more or less announced the location of the aftershow party: the club we went the week before but I called it a night in some bar close to my hostel. A friend gave me his sweater to show once more how welcome I am here. Lots of promises of reuniting in whatever part of the world were mad and at some point I went home to my Hostel. I´m not sure if or when I will see this city and especially all those nice people again. But the times, friendlyness and in all kinds of situation and circumstances they gave me here will always be reminded in my brain and my heart. I now understand when los Hosen say they do not come for the music, they come to meet the people, I seldom received such a warm welcome of different people in various situations in several forms. As always I hope to be able to return the favor in a place where I can show people around and gave them a good time, but for now I can just say thank you!

Life Lately #001

Hola! It’s been a awhile since I actually did some real ~blogging~. I decided to wake this part of me up again since I’ve been wanting to have an avenue to really express what I feel about some things. Sure, there goes Twitter, IG Story, Snapchat, and all other real time platforms, but nothing really beats having to read and write without character and time limitations. :) (And let’s be real, you can’t be as intimate on Facebook anymore, lol)

Meanwhile, here are some major life updates!

Update # 1: I turned twenty and I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. Finally out of uni! Haha. It is a major cliché to say this, but my college years have been the craziest four years of my life. It’s not even enough to say that I learned SO much -- but I really did.

I learned not just from my academic training, but also from tons of failures that I couldn’t keep count. It challenged me on so many aspects--spiritual level mostly. But as the author of my current favorite book, Kristen Welch, has said: “If it were easy, I wouldn’t need God”. She was right. College was the time I had clung most unto God. I was vulnerable and what kept me going was holding on to the fact that my God is stronger and that the battle is His. (Greater is He that is in me than he than is in the world)

When they tell you college is tough yet fun, it is true, and here goes the fun part: Having the privilege to meet a number of wonderful people. My blockmates (who btw are the most supportive and helpful peeps ever), my professors, all the people with the most inspiring stories, and of course, this family -- my organization.

These people are some of the most creative, passionate, and talented people I have ever met. Sometimes they just leave me in awe of how they work. Don’t get me wrong though, being in an organization isn’t all fun and games because I tell you... it wasn’t entirely so.

I’ve told you about college being challenging, and as for me, half of it was probably because of this org. Not even kidding. Having to lead this organization was just too much for me to handle, especially as someone who has been nurtured inside her comfort zone for years. But for some reason, I had to say yes.

And to be completely honest, there were times that I wanted to quit. Badly. No one in my team knew it, but there was just something in them that continued to inspire me not to. So, after a year of anxieties, keeping up with the deadlines, dealing with different organizations and individuals, fighting for a teammate who wanted to leave, failing, and disappointments, you ask, ‘was it worth it?’...

Looking at the photo above, I could say... yes. It might not be easy but in my pocket I got tons of memories and learnings, a lasting friendship built, one award, and zero regrets. Of course it was all worth it.

Update # 2: I started to read again! Yay. Finally having that time in my hands to invest on reading more books. And I’m so glad that I’m having that luxury again to go out (and go off of social media) just to read a book.

- For my daily quiet time, I’ve been following a Paul’s letters series. (I’m at Romans 14 as of today). I started to journal too! :)

Update # 3: I’m currently on my journey of conquering hormonal imbalance so I started to take pills.

I was so afraid to do it at first, but what made me to finally do it are the worsening hormonal acne breakouts and the visible thinning of my hair. I am hopeful! I pray it’d get better and I’m hoping I could post (positive) updates regarding this journey.

So, that’s all that is for me so far. Life’s crazy, ain’t it?

A Story (Chapter 1)

Author’s note: I’m not a writer, I’m not born to write. English is not my first language but I’m comfortable using it although i’m not good at it. This story is a mixture of recent dramas I watch and my fantasies. I just want to write it and read it for myself later (when i’m older and wiser) as a keepsake of my lonely youth. BTW i wanted to write an R18 story but i can’t vividly describe r18 stuffs so i give up. maybe.

She rubs her eyes as faint sunlight touches her face. She realizes she is not alone. She’s lying beside a guy she just met last night. They are in an unfamiliar room that looks like a room from a low class motel. She pulled the bed sheets to cover her naked body. Her heart is throbbing, she’s sweating and feeling scared. She checked the clock. It’s 7 o’clock in the morning. She is bound to death when she goes home. She doesn’t have an excuse. She gathered herself altogether and began to pick up her things with a blanket wrapped around her body. She checked the guy she slept with and he is still sleeping soundly as if he’s sleeping in his own room. She changed into her clothes and checked every corner of the room in case she left something. While looking at the guy she slept with, she walk through the door cautiously and made her exit. She was still nervous. Memories of last night began flashing into her mind. She’s embarrassed and hating herself. She grabbed a taxi and went straight home.

She bit her fingernails and grabbed the door keys. She opened the door as quiet as she can. She felt relieved that no one have woken up yet. It’s 8:20, she began to change into comfortable clothes. She heard from the outside that someone have woken up and is now walking to her room. She hurriedly lied down and pretends to sleep. It’s her mother.

“Elysse are you awake?”

Elysse’s mother woke her up and asked what time she went home. She lied and said she went home at 3:27 am. She made it odd to make it believable. Her mom just told her to sleep more. Her mom gets her laundry and walked out of the room then she fell asleep.

The man in the hotel scratch his head as he woke up. He suddenly get up in awe that the girl he slept with last night is gone. He checked his wallet and phone first in case the girl stole something. Fortunately, his things are all complete. He changed into his clothes and walked out of the motel room like nothing happened. He’s an expert. He slept with numerous girls before, but he’s worried of thievery and getting STD. He was sure the girl won’t have STD because she’s a virgin. He get his car and drove to his dorm. He’s a 3rd year College student. He practically lives in a dorm and never comes home even in vacation. His family is well-off but they don’t have good relationship. He showered as soon as he got home.

2 weeks later

Elysse’s packed her things. She’s moving into a dormitory. She’s a freshman college student. She’s older than any freshman because she stopped for two years after she finished high school. Her mom bid her farewell and her dad took her to the dormitory. It’s 7 hours ride from their home (including the traffic). Her dad accompanied her to her room and helped her unpack her stuffs.

“Elysse, you better study well and don’t go in late. There’s strict curfew now, so always check the time”

“yes, dad”

She kissed her dad and said good bye.

Elysse doesn’t have a room mate. It’s a high class dorm so each dormers have room of their own with own bathroom. Each room is small but big enough for someone living on their own. They have a common dining area, laundry area and a lobby for guests. Only relatives are allowed in the dormitory. It’s a coed dormitory with guys living at the right side rooms and girls at the left side rooms. All rooms are airconditioned and has a big window overlooking the campus.

She decorated her room to her liking and setup her study table.

She logged into facebook to check messages. Her mom and sister messaged her and told her to stay safe. She send picture of her room to her mother and sister. She browse facebook and saw posts of her high school classmates. She began to tear up not because she misses her high school classmates but because she felt lonely. Everybody seems to get along with each other well.

Elysse doesn’t have anyone she can call friends.

They’re classmates, groupmates, schoolmates, neighbors but never friends.

She’s a loner and doesn’t converse well with others.

She quite and can’t stand to be in big groups of people.

She’s the worst type of introvert

Elysse loves to read books most. Her genre’s are random (according to her mood) but most of the time she reads romance and psychology.

Her school will start in 2 days. She went to her dorm early to get used to it. She have troubles sleeping in new places.

While reading her book, she remembered her first night with a guy…

She’s anxious going to college. She heard many or most college students goes to parties to relieve stress. Elysse can’t stand the crowd but she want to change her college life, far different from her lonely highschool life. She searched online what clubs college students go most. She decided to try going to one. She also consulted online what clothes to wear and make up. She told her parents she’s going to a friends birthday party. They were happy (since she rarely have this kind of event) and permitted her to go home late but don’t spend the night. She thanked her parent and began to prepare. She leave their home at 7 o’clock in the evening. The club was so loud as she expected. She’s alone and began to feel anxious. She sat on a free seat when suddenly a man approached her.

“are you alone?”

“ah.. yes..”

“Hmm relieving stress?”

“..yeah, kind of”

“why don’t you join our group?”

Elysse followed the guy. His group look like students of her age, consists of 3 girls and 4 guys. They were very friendly but Elysse can’t get into their conversation since it was about their lives (which she isn’t included to). They played never have a ever game.

“never had a boyfriend/girlfriend”

all laughed

“comeon guys we’re not kids“

“it’s just a tryout question hahah”

they were surprised when Elysse shot a glass

“you really.. didn’t have a boyfriend?”

“not even a fling?”

Elysse shyly said yes. The grouped laughed in disbelief.

“it’s okay, you’ll find one”

said a guy while he wrapped his hand around Elysse waist.

“hey, don’t even dare. Elysse don’t give him your number. That guy’s a player”

Elysse just nods and the game continued.

She made an eye contact with the guy in front of her. He’s not the one who invited her to the group, neither the one who held her waist. He’s the guy who caught her attention from the start. He is handsome. Maybe the most handsome guy Elysse have ever met in her life. He’s silent and doesn’t laugh much as others. He oftenly whispers to the girl next to him. Elysse assumed they’re in a relationship.

They’re eyes locked for a second but Elysse hurriedly look in another direction. Her heart is breathing fast and her breath feels warm. She’s having a crush on a guy he just met.

As the game progress, Elysse have taken alcohol beyond her limit. She began to feel drowsy. The man beside her whispered to her

“do you want to go out?”

She shook her head and insist she will continue the game. The girl beside her told her she should go home. In Elysse mind, she wants to know the guy’s name in front of her. She looked at him with her half asleep eyes. Unlike earlier, she didn’t bulge when their eyes met. She smiled like a moron

“ohh, look like this girl is interested with our Shin”

“You better not dare Shin”

“I don’t know”

Shin smiled.

They ended their game because most are drunk. Elysse passed out since round 1. Nobody tried to take her home because they don’t know her home and she’s not waking up. Shin is still wide awake and a sober. He haven’t drink much. He pretty much done everything.

Elysse opened her eyes. Other’s were dancing crazy on stage. Others are sleeping like her. Shin is just sitting staring at her with a glass of beer on his hand. She sober up. Her heart beats crazily when she realizes Shin was looking at her. She felt hot with his gaze alone. She crazily asked Shin to go out and grab a coffee at the nearby coffee shop. She is expecting to be turned down but Shin stood up and asked her where they should get their coffee.

Elysse thought they should be getting coffee for everyone but Shin told her the club doesn’t allow outside food and drinks. They went into a nearby coffee shop and talked for a while.

“You really didn’t have a boyfriend?”

“no..”

“Are you a minor ?”

“no”

“you must be a nerd?”

“no.. im.. i just”

“You don’t need to explain haha”

Her heart stopped beating for a bit with Shin’s short laughter. Their coffee was ready. There was an awkward tension between them. They have nothing to talk about. Elysse tried to break the ice asking if Shin if he has a girlfriend. Shin said, at the moment he doesn’t. Elysse said she thought Shin has a relationship with the girl beside him.

“You really didn’t have a boyfriend haha”

They’re conversation began. Shin talked about how relationships are like and such body contact doesn’t mean they are into a relationship. He taught Elysse how to differentiate those who are in a relationship and flings and those who are just touchy. Then asked Elysse who she thinks in the group are in a relationship. She answered correctly in her 2nd try. They laughed and looks like their conversation will be long.

Their conversation touches relationships and sex but they talked without malice. Elysse felt like she was learning a lot about life. Shin is really good with his words. He gave advises which as really true and useful. Elysse felt comfortable with Shin. She felt he’s a good man.

Their topic suddenly went to playboys. Shin told Elysse what kind of guy she should avoid if she wants serious relationships.

“What about you?”

asked Elysse

“Are you the kind of guy for serious relationships?”

“are you even listening?.. What do you think?”

“ My first impression? Hmm I find you attractive and all but I thought you’re a playboy but now I’ve talked with you.. I think you’re someone that can be trusted”

“I taught you a lot today.. Do you think so?”

“why are you always giving back question when I ask something about you?” It was a rhetorical question but Shin replied in spite

“You want to try?”

“What?”

Elysse knew what Shin was asking about. She knew but despite of that she was feeling adventurous and wanted to try something she never done. She’s still half drunk and maybe the alcohol is the one making her daring

She just followed shin outside and they went into a motel nearby. Elysse hesitated as they entered the motel. Shin looked at her

“are you sure?”

She continued walking and Shin just smiled. They had their first night. It was Elysse first time so Shin only lead her. Shin was gentle to her. She was scared at first but Shin was really gentle that she felt safe. She just go all the way and didn’t care what her next day will be. She’s feeling daring for the first time and she’s making the biggest mistake she ever did all her life. She doesn’t think about anything else. She’s stressed, depressed with her current life situation. She wanted to do something out of her character.. The alcohol still has influence on her.
