I had such whiplash today
I recently got back into reading Stucky fanfic again and was browsing ye olde ao3 and stumbled on this great 21 jump street AU where Steve and Bucky are undercover cops in a high school. It was incomplete before it can even get to the good stuff. But the setup was so well done that I was enthralled and then utterly distraught when I realized it hadn't been updated since 2020...
Then I saw the user profile and realized.... oh shit. I wrote this.
TL DR; I bamboozled myself. I was the villain all along

AO3 Tag Game!
Tagged by @mvshortcut :) I'm gonna stick with just this fandom/this account for this one to make it less confusing
How many works do you have on AO3?
44. (Including snippet collections.) For this fandom/account. Far more if you count bi-demon-ium or my old account or my older account or
What’s your total AO3 word count?
Okay this one it won't let me separate by pseud or fandom so you're just gonna have to live with being lumped in with all my MBS and a few other misc fics at "653,461". Didn't get the other accounts though. Man, I'm a mess
How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Okay, well, this one by nature is also not solely for this fandom,
(number in parentheses is number of ao3 works posted)
Ted Lasso (obviously) (44) (including snippet collections)
The Mysterious Benedict Society (116) (also including snippet collections)
Instinct (2) (one is a small snippet collection--)
House MD (1)
Death by Dying (1)
Gravity Falls, technically, but it was one crossover (1)
ditto with The Legend of Zelda (1)
King Falls AM (1)
The House in the Cerulean Sea (6)
Shadowhunters (??? at least 36) (some now hidden/lost)
Professor Layton (1)
The Librarians (2)
The Sandman (1)
The Mentalist (2)
Star Trek (AOS) (1)
Sanders Sides (at least 1)
Miraculous Ladybug (1)
Rosewell: New Mexico (2)
The Dresden Files (1)
That's stuff posted to ao3/finished. There's also, technically,
for stuff I published when I was twelve and I now refuse to acknowledge (not all bc of the fandom but bc the fic was Bad):
Doctor Who
Supernatural
Sherlock
Psych
Castle
Welcome to Night Vale
Avengers
A Series of Unfortunate Events
And then stuff I've written for but never finished:
Warehouse 13
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016)
Dirk Gently (2010)
SurrealEstate
Zoo (podcast)
Once Upon a Time
Scooby Doo
Person of Interest
The Goes Wrong Show
Spy Kids (???)
Ace Attorney
The Adventure Zone
Criminal Minds
Star Trek (TOS, TNG, and DS9)
Haven
MacGyver
Trollhunters
exactly one (1) joke The Magnus Archives fic
Percy Jackson and the Olympians + The Kane Chronicles + Tales of Apollo
Leverage
Pushing Daisies
The Sarah Jane Adventures
Megamind
Bones
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Lucifer
Some of these are deeply questionable and/or only have like two (2) wips or even posted works at most, but I'm thorough. Also, I will write about almost anything bc my brain loves to process things like this. I may have even missed something
Top five fics by kudos:
Ted Lasso Kisses Trent Crimm On The Mouth (1125)
semaphore (977)
off the handle (719)
linger (699) (nice)
a preacher, a bikini, and a kiss or two (641)
Do you respond to comments?
I really try to, but then I get all in my head about it and/or am really really tired and put it off so long it then feels like it would be weird to respond because it's been forever. However, if there's a direct question or something I want to address/respond to, as in, I have something particularly unique to say or a question to answer, then I'll usually respond really fast
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
Honestly, I'm not a huge unhappy ending person, a lot of the time I'll have a first chapter I was initially going to end really angsty (see ink sunset and make a mess of you) and then added more to fix it at least somewhat. As is... maybe the somewhat unresolved emotional tension (for Ted and Trent, at least, Roy's doing great) in something to get off my chest, the +1 for betrayal's sting / absolution's balm? I have some worse ones in an old fandom on an old account but. meh.
Do you write crossovers?
Not often, but I rotate them in my brain. Honestly, though, I'm more inclined to write a fusion than a crossover proper. And even so, I tend to just be thinking about it rather than actually writing it. I've only written one crossover in recent memory (recently, that is) and it was mostly a joke about a shared actress made into actual angst.
Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
Yeah lmao
Do you write smut?
😏 sure do
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
👁️👁️ not in this fandom
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!! also not in this fandom
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
In this fandom? Trent/Ted. overall? no idea, because recency bias, my all-time favorite is whatever I'm into right now, which isn't really objective but hyperfixationitis.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
:( so many. AND there are a lot of posted fics I want to write a sequel/companion piece for and idk if I'll ever get the energy...
I guess off the top of my head, for this fandom, I'd go with lost sight of (who you are) (motivation died because it's old enough no one knows it exists anymore lkfgjh) and ink sunset (I WANNA FINISH IT I DO I DO I DO)
What are your writing strengths?
I think I can write a really funny string of dialogue, and I'm also fond of fun metaphors, both in the elegant poetic way and in the more Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett way (which is to say, still potentially elegant but also comedic as hell)
What are your writing weaknesses?
Motivating myself to write anything; being overly self-indulgent
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?
I'm extremely bad at linguistics in general, so if I must include someone talking in another language in my fic, I think I'd tend to cheat and do italics or some other indication that this is 'in another language' (ie "Where are you going?" she asked in Russian), but that's admittedly a lazy approach. But I also think it's probably better than butchering it with an auto-translator? Also, when people just include the translation in the end notes, even with a link (although that makes it marginally better) it breaks the flow of the story and makes it hard to read. Making an effort to at least match grammar is good (which I would do if it was for longer than a single scene, probably) but I think the best solution is when people know what they're doing and like, have an actual translation with a little html code so you can click on it and it reveals what it means? Or if you're clever, revealing what it means using context around it, but that has its own limitations. So that both like, uses the actual language and doesn't break up the flow. It balances accessibility, flow, and respect for the other language in question well. But you've got to both know what you're doing with the language (either asking someone/hiring someone/knowing the language yourself) and the html (although there are guides for that you'd have to spend time figuring it out + know it exists in the first place to look). And this is fanfiction, something we ultimately do for free in our spare time, so the lazy approach, I think, can be understandable. Maybe not in every context, but it's not worth stressing a lot over in a few random lines or anything, you know? It is really cool when people do know a language well enough to include it properly in a fic, though, it can say a lot about a character or dynamic; and their background(s) and like. it's neat :)
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Ever? Doctor Who. In a shitty little notebook in middle school. Then there was some Star Trek (both TNG and TOS) and Avatar: the Last Airbender and Marvel and such, and then Supernatural (my first smut? extremely terrible Destiel smut. rip) and I think the first thing I ever posted was Welcome to Night Vale? Not sure.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
Oh, man. I have no idea. Here's a few favorites from this fandom:
matters of the heart
trick & treat
vita nova
melt like this
"second impressions"
"reveal"
probably those time travel snippets, just in general

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers!
Tagged by @binickandros!!!!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
26 apparently
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
460,406
3. What fandoms do you write for?
supernatural now mainly, though i've written for house md, spring awakening, and bare: a pop opera
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
these are all dean/cas fics:
inevitable homoeroticism in spanish romantic heroes (spanish grad school au)
like real people do (my return from the spn grave, basically a reaction fic to The Confession Scene)
command me to be well (angsty post-canon dean gets cas back; sort of a love letter/spiritual sequel to my first spn fic, which is also on this list)
flying in circles inside a jar (a classic s5 era fic with some deeply awkward dialogue that i don't like now but i mean this was written over 10 years ago)
some boys are sleeping alone (my first spn fic and basically my thesis on dean's bisexuality that would feed....just about every fic to come after)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i try, though inevitably i get overwhelmed (even by like, one comment) and then time passes and then it's just overwhelming and awkward. but i try! it's hard especially when i just am rephrasing "thanks, i'm glad you liked it!"
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
100% something from the house or spring awakening era. (does anyone else remember when apocalypse aus were all the rage for house or was that just me and my friend angie.) a lot of those aren't on ao3 though, so probably the saddest ending over there is hm... "some boys are sleeping alone." or, shout out to my bare: a pop opera fic, still going strong over there: all the stars bend over sideways.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
there are a lot of happy endings to be found now but maybe for the sheer weight of the force behind everything building up to its ending, let me come home. that one or "command me to be well," which i swear i remember someone somewhere saying that it doesn't just relieve the angst at the end, but it luxuriates in the happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not really, no, at least not to my face. i've seen some commentary somewhere about people not being into post-canon fic that doesn't involve jack, but i still have barely seen the jack seasons......... oops
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, usually i throw something in there. inevitably it winds up dom/sub-y in some way. my favorite manifestation of this was the slow evolution of dom-y cas in "let me come home," especially when writing from his headspace bc that's not the usual for me. but other than that, my favorite is cowboy's sweetheart
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
ohhhhh boy. back in the day i loved a challenge for the wildest mashups people could think of. freddie from chess/donuts was the quintessential example of this, written in the wake of strikethrough on lj. one of the few that i still allow to see the light of day: thank you for being a friend, a my little pony/supernatural crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i'm aware of though someone did put "inevitable homoeroticism" and "command me to be well" on goodreads.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i've had someone podfic one of my fics! though the recording isn't up anymore i don't think
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
YESSS @marbleflan and i had a great time with:
r/relationships: inspired by an r/relationships post where a guy is sleeping with a woman only for her...husband to walk in on them, oops, and oh no surprise also, he's really hot??????? wait is this gay????? (it is)
perfect match: inspired by the season 8 of are you the one? an mtv reality dating show. the typical premise of this show is to put pairs of people in a house and tell them that they have to find their scientifically, dr. love approved perfect match out of all the people in the house, and if you all guess wrong, you lose money; if you all guess right, then you win money. but in season 8....everybody was bi/pan/queer, so anyone could be your match. it was supremely messy and also great. many key moments were lifted from that season including i think the drunken orgy, the theme dance night, and the intervention. i have a lot of memories of furiously writing/editing my portions of this to and from my in-laws' for thanksgiving while my husband wanted me to, like, participate in conversation in the car.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
i mean.................... guess.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
man i started this really great one about dean and cas accidentally arguing about not having sex when they both actually wanted to have sex and i really want to finish it but idk! i refuse to put the dean watches heartstopper fic on here bc i WILL finish that.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i think character voice, through dialogue and narration. i like situating myself in a character's head and feeling things out through their perspective.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
repetition, and like.... plots.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
been there, done that. wordreference carried me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
lizzie mcguire, i think, and labyrinth. also if i recall, buffy, and star trek: voyager.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
"let me come home." i think it has to be. it has just about everything in it, every thought or feeling i've ever had about supernatural. i'm really super proud of it, and unlike inevitable homoeroticism, i'm never going to feel like enough people have read that fic. like i just want more people to read it. usually i'm pretty good about just going with the flow, the whims of ao3 and what people seem to respond to, and not really being bothered by how popular a fic is or isn't. but man i want it to crack that top 5 list so badly. (it can replace flying in circles. the others can stay.)
if you write fic, you are tagged, but i scrolled through some pages of my followers to look for mutuals in the fic writing game; if i missed you i was just reading too quickly!!!! you are tagged!!!!: @ltleflrt, @blanketforcas, @hauntedpearl, @goldenraeofsun, @jewishdeanwinchester, @bbcphile, @wanderingcas

AO3 Tag Game!
Tagged by @mvshortcut :) I did it here as well but now I'm doing it for this fandom/account bc I CAN (a lot of this will be directly copy/pasted if applicable im sowwy)

I was gonna have the snippets collections not count but I've got so many exact ties it doesn't matter.
gemini schmemini (136)
kate and her bucket sitting in a tree, S-P-Y-I-N-G (98)
caught (81)

Do you respond to comments?
I really try to, but then I get all in my head about it and/or am really really tired and put it off so long it then feels like it would be weird to respond because it's been forever. However, if there's a direct question or something I want to address/respond to, as in, I have something particularly unique to say or a question to answer, then I'll usually respond really fast.
And this fandom's smaller so if I'm slightly more likely to respond 😭
Also when I know who's commenting personally which is al ot more likely
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
Honestly, I'm not a huge unhappy ending person, but. uhhh
solo
bring me home (in a blinding dream)
hollowed
seasalt
checkmate
dark side of the moon
wretched clarity
cruel kindness
green-eyed monster
the naming of cats
curled & crushed
oops
I didn't even look at the snippet collections lkgfhjh

Have you ever had a fic stolen?
👁️👁️ not. Directly in this fandom
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!! also not in this fandom
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
In this fandom? Nicholas/Milligan. Overall, ever? Recency bias/hyperfixationitis says whatever I'm into the most at the moment. But generally for MBS I prefer gen (although I've written a lot of Nicholas/Milligan, that's partially because it's blissfully easier to find gen already)
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
:(
SO many
Particularly minotaur, the dearly departed, and the "paralyzed" series. Oh and the hanahaki AU
What are your writing strengths?
I think I can write a really funny string of dialogue, and I'm also fond of fun metaphors, both in the elegant poetic way and in the more Douglas Adams/Terry Pratchett way (which is to say, still potentially elegant but also comedic as hell)

AO3 TAG GAME
Thank you @lizzy0305 for the tag <3
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
78 (but I have a few ready to post for my December project)
2. What's your current AO3 wordcount?
308,514 - I feel like it should be higher
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
20 - heh
Supernatural, Star Trek (TOS & AOS), BBC Sherock, Harry Potter, Avengers, Teen Wolf, Merlin, House MD, Venom, Good Omens, James Bond, Primeval, Lucifer, Good Omens, The Old Guard, Doctor Who, True Blood, The Umbrella Academy, Hannibal, The Falcon & the Winter Soldier
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Meant To Be (Trek)
Truth or Dare (SPN)
Guessing Games (SPN)
5 Times Jim Forgot About Vulcan Hand Sensitivity & 1 Time He Didn’t (Trek)
Realisation (Lucifer)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not.
Hell yeh I do! I love to interact with people who enjoyed my work, and I want to make sure they know their comment was appreciated.
6. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Probably - Stuck In The End (SPN)
7. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've ever written?
*Manic laughs* Do I write crossovers? *more manic laughter*
Convergence by far is the craziest thing I’ve ever written. It is known in my circle as ‘the mega fic’ because it was such an insane idea and I have no idea how I pulled it off. Just click the link to understand the extent of what I’m talking about, even if you have no interest in reading the story (but you should totally give it a go, it’s not shit, I promise)
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yup, not really recently, but when I was first starting to write there were a few mean ones, luckily there were more good comments than bad to keep me inspired.
9. Do you write smut?
Oh yes! But it’s not all I write.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Double Date (Trek)
12. What's your all time favorite ship?
My original OTP was Destiel, and it will always have a special place in my heart. However Spirk, in all its universes, just brings me so much joy, my heart wants to burst from how much love these two have for each other. So Spirk would be my all time favourite, with Destiel as a close second.
13. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Technically Harry Potter when I was younger before I knew what fanfiction was. But the first fandom I posted fanfic for was Supernatural.
14. What's your favorite fic you've written?
Oh god, how do I choose?
I have to say Convergence because it was a journey and helped to make me the writer I am today. I grew so much writing that story.
But also have to give mention to First Day because I honestly just love this ship and am proud of this fic.
Also to Guessing Games because it was my best work for a long time when I was still unsure of my writing ability.
Honestly, my fav one depends on what I’m in the mood for, and I just love all of my works because if I didn’t for one reason or another then I wouldn’t have written them.
Um, I don’t really know who writes fanfiction that I’m mutuals with so you’re all welcome to do this! <3

Shameless self promo
So, since some people are staying home and suddenly have more time on their hands and I am having a terrible time at work, I thought I would shamelessly share the fics of mine that I am most proud of, most want to have people read. It’ll give you ideas of stuff to read if you get bored and it would cheer me up after a long day at the grocery store to see new kudos/comments.
Unleashed (Prodigal Son, 53 452 words): A story of what happens when Martin Whitly escapes Claremont and finally gets a chance to get back at those who’ve hurt him.
Grow On Me (Lucifer, 4 051 words): A college AU where Lucifer and Pierce are roommates, with fake relationship and winter fluff.
The Influence A Person Can Have (Limitless, 10 340 words): Brian’s journey from the formation of his band through his relationship with Eli to his life at the CJC.
Lean On Me, Don’t You Know I Care? (House MD, 1 414 and 1 364 words): One explores House and Wilson’s relationship, and the other has House attempting suicide with Wilson no where to be seen when he wakes up in the hospital.
The Grey Area Job (White Collar, Leverage, Limitless, 15 992 words): I made a three show crossover that probably should’ve been only two, but I love those shows and characters a lot and it was fun to have them interact. Though the amount of people who have seen all three of those shows is very limited. But I’m sure it’s understandable without having seen them all. And it features my favourite crossover ship, Neal Caffrey/Eliot Spencer.
The Potion Master’s Daughter (Harry Potter, 67 001 words): I remember how I couldn’t get this story out of my head for months until I wrote it, which also took months. It follows the plot of the books from the perspective of Snape’s daughter.
Nobody Picked The Family Business (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, 14 796 words): A Sam/Dawn fic.
A Good Combo (Supernatural, 11 680 words): I never do AUs, but there I did Dean as a pizzeria owner and Cas as a college student. It’s so old, I barely remember its existence and my writing has definitely improved since, but it’s still pretty good I think.
I included things from various fandoms so there’s something for everyone. I’ll try to find the time to do another rec post soon, cause I’ve read a lot of fics since the last one.

I read a lot of fic this year. Like an obscene amount of fic. But here are the top 17, in no particular order. (Also because I read too much, a list of honorable mentions at the bottom!)
1. Strive Seek Find Yield | Spirk
Spock is heir to the Federation throne, Jim is Prince of America because his fucking brother abdicated, and the Klingons are on the verge of blowing shit up--a love story.
2. Blue Fields | Spirk
In his thirteenth year James Kirk ends up on Tarsus IV with his aunt and uncle. During the famine he takes refuge with a six year-old named Kevin Riley and a young half-Vulcan.
3. Like Moses & Batman & James Dean  | Destiel
dean used to turn tricks. over a decade later, he met cas.
4. The Real Meaning of Idioms | Johnlock
After two weeks away, John finally texts Sherlock. He doesn't expect Sherlock to respond. He doesn't expect Sherlock to keep texting him. And he really doesn't expect things to spiral out of control so rapidly.
5. A Turn of the Earth | Destiel
Dean’s your typical half-orphaned, monster-killing 22-year-old until a trenchcoated stranger crashes into his back windshield one September night, claiming he’s an angel that knows him from the future and that he’s on the run.
Frigging fantastic.
(Or, in which Castiel gets stuck in Dean’s timeline preseries and Dean kind of hates it—until he doesn’t.)
6.   Magpie | Spirk
Spock met Jim when he was 7 and Jim was 6. It has since been generally agreed that this was a mistake (or: the one where they grow up together and things are simultaneously better and worse for it).
7. Switch | McKirk
The life and times of Leonard H. McCoy MD/PhD …
If Leonard McCoy's life could get any fucking weirder, it would be … Jesus, he didn't even want to think what that could possibly mean, because it's already been too fucking weird to make any kind of rational sense.
A Starfleet Academy story, set in the ST:XI universe.
8.  For Gladness of You  | Spirk
In which shit goes down in no particular order: Jim almost starts a war, Spock gets tortured, Jim gets kidnapped, Jim gets tortured, Spock gets not-quite-kidnapped, Jim takes the Enterprise joyriding, and mysterious Vulcans with their even more mysterious leader hop a ride for a few weeks. But that’s not what the story’s about. It’s about this: Jim was always going to fall in love with Spock – boldly, recklessly. He just didn’t expect to stay that way. A story about getting over all that.
9. children of a bad revolution | sterek
Far away and long ago, the only companion Derek has, the only friend and enemy he's known since he was young, is the chain.
Then Stiles happens.
Then the crows.
Then the end of the world.
10.  with bloody feet across hallowed ground | Sterek
There were no last words. No more pleas, no more screaming. Just the sound of Stiles squeezing the trigger, the explosion of a second shot rocketing out of the revolver, and the hunters bursting through the open doorway just in time to see the bullet slam squarely into the center of Derek’s chest.
11. (sacred) in the ordinary | Sterek
The Pack, after college, graduate school and the starting of careers, comes back to Beacon Hills. Nothing's gotten less complicated after all this time.
Based on a kink meme prompt that grew legs and got serious.
Note: This is a whole lot of pack!fic with a very slow build Derek/Stiles
12. give me back my bones | Sterek
Derek meets Stiles on a Wednesday. He comes in for his usual cup of coffee and somehow walks out with hot chocolate, cinnamon on the top, and no idea what just happened there.
13. sell your body to the night | Sterek
"No," he repeated impatiently. "I'm not a cop. I'm someone who wants to exchange my money for your sexual services. I was told you were in that line of work."
"I, uh, yeah, sorry," Stiles said. He glanced around again and then up--the full moon was almost directly overhead. Just one of those nights, maybe. "Yeah, I am. I do that."
14. the payoff pitch | Sterek
Derek is on the cusp of his second season with the LA Dodgers, and as the reigning runner-up Rookie of the Year, the pressure’s on him to become the team’s star pitcher and lead them to the playoffs for the first time in five years. He’s trying to deal with the burden of expectations and really has zero desire to spend any extra time or energy on anything that isn’t baseball.
But then he meets Stiles.
15.  between dogs and wolves | Sterek
"This is…not four million in cash,” remarks Stilinski.
“Isaac. Did you fail to get my money back and decided to pick up a stripper on the road to bribe me? Because let me make this perfectly clear: this would totally work. Well done.”
Or
The mafia!AU where the Hales owe four million to the Stilinskis, Laura rents Derek (but not as a stripper), Stiles gets a new favorite, Derek gets a new boss, a new puppy and a new family.
Sometimes they break people, but mainly, they just snark at each other.
16. those are the days that bind us | Sterek
His father wasn’t stupid. He was an officer of the law, trained to look for patterns. He confronted Stiles about werewolves and they shouted and Stiles tried to explain but his father was so, so, so mad, more mad than Stiles had ever seen him, ever in all his life and then his father looked at him and said,
“It’s like you’re not my son anymore.”
And Stiles broke.
17. fixer upper | Sterek
After the events of 5a, Stiles is estranged from Scott--and by association, the pack. Derek is off finding himself, or, at least, Germany and some other places. There's a lot of texting and post cards and then Derek comes back to find Stiles missing. Worse, nobody seems to remember Stiles existing.

Fandom ask: 6, 16, 27, 44. Thank you :)
6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved with. Oh damn, this will be a looooong list. But here goes! Buffy/Spike (until it became canon - BtVS), Wesley/Fred (Angel), Greg/Sofia (CSI), Ryan/Calleigh (CSI: Miami), Flack/Angell (CSI: NY), Booth/Bones (Bones), Dean/Bela (Supernatural), Hitsugaya/Karin (Bleach), Parker/Hardison/Eliot (Leverage), Harry/Ginny (Harry Potter), Spike/Faye (Cowboy Bebop), Danny/Kono (Hawaii Five-0), Wayne/Grace (The Mentalist), Mal/Inara (Firefly), Charlie/Amita (Numb3rs), Dinozzo/Ziva (NCIS), Kelly/Annabelle (St. Trinian’s), Esposito/Lanie (Castle), Jack/Phryne (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries), Chase/Cameron (House MD), Graham/Emma (Once Upon A Time), Zane/Jo (Eureka), Rory/Amy (Doctor Who), Steve/Natasha (MCU - Movies), Daisy/Jemma (MCU - Shows), Kirk/Uhura (Star Trek AOS) and, like, a million crossover OTPs between these various fandoms. I am probably forgetting…a bunch. I just used my AO3 fandom list as a guide.16. Are there any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike? I’m not a huge fan of Jlock, but that’s mostly because of the cult. I’m also not a fan of the incest ships, but that’s just because I’m not really a fan of any of them in any of my fandoms (too many bad experiences with the shippers in Heroes and Supernatural).27. What do you hate more: coming up with titles or writing summaries? Titles. Like, summaries are easier, depending on how much I want to share about what’s in the fic that isn’t already in my secondary tags on AO3, but titles are the bane of my existence.44. What ship do you feel needs more attention? I got asked this twice, so here’s the Sherlock answer: any and all femslash ships. I mean, I ship a ton and write a ton and they get so little love. Mollrene gets the most of what I’ve found, and Hoopervan is a close second, but the amounts of notes on my Sherlock femslash pales so much to the het or slash I write for the fandom. Also, for more well known but less loved ships: Adlock. Seriously, I’d kill for more Adlock prompts every once in a while but it just seems to be a redheaded stepchild ship that gets a lot of unnecessary hate and that’s not cool.
I also got asked these questions via PM by @creativereadingfanfiction:
1. What was the first fandom you got involved in? As an actual writer where I shared my work, it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But when I was a freshman in high school (around 1994) I wrote a story idea for seaQuest DSV and actually sent it to the producers. My very first rejection letter came from that and they were actually really nice about it.21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote? It was the first story in the trilogy that ended up becoming “The Giles Saga” series. It was Spike/OC for an OC I played in a roleplay game, Alexandria Giles (I think…I wrote it 19 years ago and I don’t think it’s online anymore).30. What inspires you to write? I’m definitely a prompt-centric writer, but it can literally be anything. A quote, a song, a color…i can take almost anything as a prompt.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Tagged by @rngaredead :)
For simplicity's sake I'm going to go with just my biDEMONium/trentcrimminallybeautiful ao3 and not try to combine it with my thesorrowoflizards one (why do i have more than one? because i was, among other things, an idiot who didn't know how pseuds worked next question) even though that would probably double some of these numbers lkfjgh
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Again, just on this account? 171 (some of those are oneshot compilations though)
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
661,851 for now
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Ted Lasso, The Mysterious Benedict Society, The House on the Cerulean Sea, House MD, Death by Dying, Instinct, King Falls AM. Also, sort of Gravity Falls. Mostly those first two though, tbh. This one I think I will include other fandoms I've written and posted for on other accounts because it's fun and less about math. So also Shadowhunters, The Librarians, The Mentalist, The Dresden Files (TV), Roswell New Mexico, The Sandman, Star Trek, Professor Layton, Sanders Sides, Miraculous Ladybug, and sort of The Legend of Zelda. Also see, for unposted or posted a very long time ago and no longer something I would willingly share, Supernatural, Dirk Gently (both 2016 and 2010), Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, SurrealEstate, Person of Interest, Haven, Leverage, Bones. Psych, and probably more
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Ted Lasso Kisses Trent Crimm On The Mouth (Trent/Ted - 1,157 kudos)
semaphore (Trent/Ted; Trent & Colin - 997 kudos)
off the handle (Trent/Ted - 736 kudos)
linger (Trent/Ted - 709 kudos)
a preacher, a bikini, and a kiss or two (Trent/Ted; Diamond Dogs - 673 kudos)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to but I always get really busy/tired and then it's been so long it feels like it would be weird if I did. Plus, sometimes my answers by nature of the comments can get repetitive and then even though I'm being sincere I feel insincere which sucks. However, if a comment has a direct question or something I actually have like, something unique to say about, I'm much more likely to respond sooner rather than later/never. I appreciate every single comment soooo much though literally my motivation to get through the day like 80 percent of the time
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm going to stick with Ted Lasso fics here since I have so many fics posted and this is my Ted Lasso sideblog and say... well, most of the time I have a bittersweet ending and then some sort of hopeful epilogue (such as with ink sunset and make a mess of you) but I guess betrayal's sting / absolution's balm or something to get off my chest may qualify?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uhhh, honestly, most of them are happy endings. I think trick & treat and matters of the heart end on particularly high notes?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not in this fandom! Yet
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Oh, yeah, baby. So much. Not sure what "kind" means in this context. It sure is explicit smut. I have tended almost exclusively towards hot transgender sex the last few years because. yknow. hi. but somehow I don't think that's the intention in the question.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I do, but I haven't posted a lot. Only one on this account (a Gravity Falls x The Mysterious Benedict Society crossover that started as a joke because of a shared actress) although I had an interesting Shadowhunters x The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess fusion on my other account. I've written some pretty weird WIPs, though. And I've got some posts about Ted Lasso crossover/AUs, like a Sarah Jane Adventures AU, a Pushing Daisies AU, a Stardust AU... You can find that kind of thing in this tag on my blog.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes. Not in this fandom, though, as far as I'm aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Again, not in this fandom, though.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Oh, man, I don't know if I can decide. Magnus/Alec (TV version only I'll die on this hill) will always hold a special place in my heart, but I've got other "obsessed with this when I was a kid" ships and also recency bias/current hyperfixation means Trent/Ted screams as an immediate answer, and so on and so forth. I'm bad at picking favorites. Overall, I'd probably say one of those two, or both.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Sticking to Ted Lasso again (I have. so many MBS WIPs. god.) I'd say lost sight of (who you are) (lost motivation, want to finish, fuck!!) or sweeter than heaven (hotter than hell) (got mad at it), or!! oh!!! ink sunset (stuck) and possibly the next installment of matters of the heart. Yeah, I have a problem
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at being funny and also at eloquent but perhaps a little too verbose metaphors. I love me an elaborate metaphor
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
It's hard for me to focus and get what I have in my head out sometimes, even when I really want to. Whether it's being unable to organize or just my brain flat-out refusing to cooperate and do anything. Also, I'm way too like. easily discouraged with lack of feedback, and even a little negative feedback can kind of ruin my week and make me never wanna go back to that story ever again.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I just realized. The questions seemed familiar but I wasn't sure why and now I know, now that I've gotten to this question. I have done this game before and I remember bc of this question. I was confused bc it was under a different name, I think the questions were in a different order, and it was sometimes slightly differently worded but nope! This is the same one! Weird Anyway, just for this particular question, I'm going to copy-paste my old answer because I'm lazy. I’m extremely bad at linguistics in general, so if I must include someone talking in another language in my fic, I think I’d tend to cheat and do italics or some other indication that this is ‘in another language’ (ie “Where are you going?” she asked in Russian), but that’s admittedly a lazy approach. But I also think it’s probably better than butchering it with an auto-translator? Also, when people just include the translation in the end notes, even with a link (although that makes it marginally better) it breaks the flow of the story and makes it hard to read. Making an effort to at least match grammar is good (which I would do if it was for longer than a single scene, probably) but I think the best solution is when people know what they’re doing and like, have an actual translation with a little html code so you can click on it and it reveals what it means? Or if you’re clever, revealing what it means using context around it, but that has its own limitations. So that both like, uses the actual language and doesn’t break up the flow. It balances accessibility, flow, and respect for the other language in question well. But you’ve got to both know what you’re doing with the language (either asking someone/hiring someone/knowing the language yourself) and the html (although there are guides for that you’d have to spend time figuring it out + know it exists in the first place to look). And this is fanfiction, something we ultimately do for free in our spare time, so the lazy approach, I think, can be understandable. Maybe not in every context, but it’s not worth stressing a lot over in a few random lines or anything, you know? It is really cool when people do know a language well enough to include it properly in a fic, though, it can say a lot about a character or dynamic; and their background(s) and like. it’s neat :)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ever? Doctor Who. And I don't remember the order, but after that I know I wrote some stuff about Star Trek (mostly TNG but I believe also TOS), Supernatural, A:LTA, Marvel, WTNV, and the Stanley Parable? I think I first posted either Supernatural or WTNV
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I have no idea. Some of my top ones (for Ted Lasso again) would be matters of the heart and trick & treat I suppose?
Tagging: whoever wants to do this man, I probably tagged everyone I'd normally tag last time so if you see this and you wanna do it, go ahead and tag me and do it!
