English AU came about when me and @farramint started bonding over how much we hated the comics and talked about how things might look if Roba was more competent.

English AU sprouts from the concept of what would happen if Simon let the brainwashing 'work' and started complying with Roba, to an extent, as his personal attack dog. Both as a way to get the torture to stop (so he would be healthy enough in the future to escape on his own, when the opportunity arose), and to stall Roba getting bored with Simon and killing him (as, in this AU, Roba had Sparks killed, leading Simon to realise his time is limited here, and dependent on that sadist's interest in him).

It's also a fun, morbid enough exploration on how low Simon will be forced to stoop while 'working' for Roba (murder, torture and such, yknow how it is), as well as the harassment, humiliation, and torture (of all kinds) he'd have to tolerate within the Zaragoza cartel. Things like forcefully being tattooed, mocked for the sexual assault and torture he'd been subjected to, and being referred to by 'English' as opposed to his actual name. I can see Roba subtly holding Simon's family hostage (to where they don't know they're in danger), and making sure Simon knows that any step too far out of line will lead to their harm. Gripped by the idea that the first time Simon hears his brother's, or mother's, voice in months is a conversation secretly recorded between one of them, and someone Roba had planted in Manchester in order to keep tabs on them.

It also lead to the idea of Roba, in all his arrogance, seeing a weakness in Las Almas following the upheaval within the cartel causing El Sin Nombre to rise to prominence. And this spurs him to try and expand operations. One thing leads to another, and Valeria convinces 'English' to help her against Roba, in exchange for his own freedom. Roba eventually dies, Valeria and Simon are violent girlbosses in arms, and Simon is coping sooo well after the torture nexus that he's just going to brutally hunt down the remaining Zaragoza cartel lieutenants while in this tenuous alliance with El Sin Nombre, who is also unsure how much to trust this man, as well as unsure if she wants to even let him go - Simon is very good at what he does, and in all honesty he knows too much about her identity. Also extremely to draw parallels between Valeria and Rudy, but if people want to read about that lmk because that's a separate post entirely.

And it makes sense for the 141 to eventually appear, maybe somewhat faithful to the plot of MW2, with the missiles and such <3. Except now there's some ulterior motives from Price, who might be aware of the MIA SAS serviceman who got tangled up in rumours of corruption and cartels. Leading to him trying to find Simon Riley and bring him back home with this sense of duty/honour to uphold, in the wake of higher-ups failing this man.

Simon then going from one master (Roba) to another (Valeria) to another (Price) is very fun to consider, as well. Valeria giving Simon more independence than Roba ever did, with shreds of respect to stop him from rankling under her thumb as badly (but still keeping Control, at the end of the day). Price is very much a man who knows how to utilise the men under him as Weapons, and while he respects his subordinates as people (versus Roba seeing Simon as a convenient attack dog he used to make kneel naked, arms behind his back, in a wire kennel for hours on end), Price ultimately values them by their individual abilities to keep the 'bad guys' afraid of their own shadows, and to 'save' the world.

This au has everything. Alejandro-Valeria bitter divorce, competent Roba horrors, Graves is there for some reason (he explodes in the tank again), Simon slaughter hashtag girl momen with a cunty silk buttonup a (with the buzzcut no less)(and houndcoding)(and corruption. but how much is merely just building off his sas conditioning), Price's vague sense of corruption but 'for the greater good', Soap and Gaz's horror at Simon's situation in a 'this very easily could've been us' way, and Gaz gets thrown out of another helicopter.

augh this became long, i hope it makes sense. The idea is ultimately that simon gets to go home, too, and tries to readjust to a 'normal' life, reuniting with Tommy and Sharon and Beth and Joseph. But I can see Price convincing him to return to the service (he knows a lifer when he sees one, and why waste a good soldier), potentially as a private contractor with the 141.

Never Ending Darling - by Woollee (9/10)

A yandere mad scientist? Nice. In a modern setting? Nice. The plot makes sense and it moves quick? Nice. This one is almost too good to be true. It's brand new and I hope it keeps moving fast. This is a thriller that delivers on every level. It's psychologically and visually horrifying.

Ha-Im lives a simple life. She graduated but she can't work yet, because she has to care for her sick mom. Her mother has late stage stomach cancer. It's incurable...but then one day it isn't. A brilliant scientist named Geunhu has perfected body cloning. It's not legal to clone the brain, but everything else can be replaced. You can have a fit body. A slim body. You can pay to get your disabilities fixed. Police don't have to worry about dying as much. Most fatal wounds and diseases that don't affect the brain can be wiped away with a new copy of your own body.

There are little hints about the madness that is coming. People are a little more violent now. Streamers cut off body parts for money on camera, because they can afford to replace those parts. A physical limit has been removed, and now humanity is changing permanently. People are meaner, more careless, and obsessed with staying young and beautiful. Nobody goes to the gym anymore. Why would you? Buying a new body is fairly easy and cheap.

Geunhu is her boyfriend. He was a nice, quiet guy. They had a ton of fun together. Geunhu never wanted to be apart from her, even for a day. He was corny and loving. They were a really great couple, but then Ha-Im hit her head. She fell into a coma and her brain could not be saved. Geunhu backed up her memories, and he cloned her brain. Nobody can stop him. He's one of the most powerful people in the world right now. Humanity is now dependant on his technology. Doctors, cops, and politicians all love it. Geunhu can do whatever he wants.

He wants his life with Ha-Im to be perfect. He wants her to adore him as much as he adores her. He wants perfection. He clones sakura trees for his cheesy marriage proposal. They used to go to the sakura festival every year when they were in university. It was their first date too. Ha-Im is touched, but something feels wrong. That festival was special because it happens once a year. Guenhu wants that feeling every day, but that's not how a relationship works. Every day can't be a perfect sakura festival.

Ha-Im gets suspicious, and her instincts are correct. Guenhu is not as loving as he used to be. She keeps seeing weird messages everywhere. Messages written in her own writing. Those messages tell her the truth. She's a clone. The real Ha-Im died of brain damage a long time ago, and Guenhu is nuts. He kills her when she finds out. He kills her whenever she gets mad at him. His quest for perfection has made him an abusive monster.

Geunhu does love her, in a twisted kind of way. There is a penthouse full of shell bodies for her. If she ever gets hurt again he has twenty back up bodies ready to go. He shows them to her. He worked tirelessly to effectively make her immortal, because he loves her so much. She's afraid. She screams and cries. Existential horror grips her. Guenhu has been cutting out certain memories. She doesn't know if she loves Guenhu anymore. Her memories don't belong to her. He controls what they are. I'm pretty sure one of the plot twists will be about the original Ha-Im. The original Ha-Im may have fallen out of love with him, but he erased those memories.

He proposes in front of the wall of shell bodies. She says no. She tells him this is too much, and she's afraid. He's playing god. He's turned into a narcissist. He experimented on her without her consent, and he killed her before. She saw a body that looked like her in his bathtub. He can kill her and reboot her anytime. She cannot trust him, so she tries to break up with him.

He shoots her, and he cracks. Guenhu starts complaining. Her whining ruined his awesome sakura proposal. He doesn't like her attitude. She should be happy to be loved so wholeheartedly by such a rich man. He worked so hard to become the best husband ever. If she can't see that he doesn't want this ungrateful version of her. He shoots her, and shoves her happy memories into a new shell while she is dying on the ground.

Ha-Im has an ally. Her best friend is a cop, who is a really good person. Guenhu threatens her, but she doesn't give up. Ha-Im teams up with her, and they try to take Guenhu down. They're alone. Guenhu is universally beloved. He literally cured cancer and ended the obesity epidemic. The world wants the mad genius to keep creating more miracles for them. Nobody cares about his girlfriend. Nobody cares if he abuses her. Especially not the police commissioner.

Ha-Im has to act like she's in love. Her life depends on it. She can't report Guenhu to the police. She has to get creative. He proposes and she accepts. She tries on a wedding dress for him, and he cracks even more. Guenhu has become a typical unbearable rich guy. When a tailor accidentally spills water on her he tries to get the woman fired. Ha-In loses her shit and calls him an unbearable narcissistic rich prick. He almost kills her right there, but she kisses him and acts dumb to stay alive. The gun in his back pocket proves that he doesn't really love her. He just wants a picture perfect marriage with his university sweetheart. Also, he wants her to be completely dependent on him. Red flag. Guenhu used to be a good boyfriend. Ha-Im feels betrayed and she wants revenge. I don't know who will win. Geunhu is a genius, but he's very stupid and unstable around Ha-Im.

so, i know my carrd is clunky, and messy and bad. so i've decided to make a big masterpost for kuro's hsr au. because as i play it, it is growing, and evolving as i find new things to !!! over. plus i feel it's a bit easier to just have the verse post here on my tumblr anyway where folks can see it easier.

𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄: hamasaki kuro , just kuro please.

𝐀𝐆𝐄: 1000+ , his exact age isn't known. he's legit forgotten it.

𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐒: favored of the plagues author , cat guy ( express crew ) , killjoy , emanator of yaoshi ( not anymore. ) , more to come i'm sure...

𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇: abundance ( previous ), later path dependent on plotting :)

as you know, kuro's home world died.

the planet just could not sustain life anymore, and while it isn't coincidence that yao/shi chose him to be an emanator- it didn't happen until the planet was dead. a husk essentially, for him to implant the power of the abundance within, and bring it back with that alone. making it completely reliant on the aeon, and an ecological horror show of never ending life and growth.

during his time as an emanator, kuro worked to spread the influence of yao/shi to other worlds too. and unfortunately, the xian/zhou was collateral damage to these endeavors. which has earned him not only a bounty, but a permanent ban from any of the xian/zhou alliance ships. the damage he did to them was... comparatively minimal to what he did to the world he was focused on at the time. but it has given him history with certain characters, that is both traumatic, and brief-- enough that it's not necessarily reliant on fine details, for kuro to be a wanted criminal by the xian/zhou and potentially in hot water with the IPC.

the reason he stepped off his path... is unknown. but there's some speculation among those who knew of him. that yao/shi abandoned him perhaps, that he saw the truth of abundance, that it terrified him. the real reason is much too complicated. and he will not discuss it with anyone.

the astral/express & jarlio/VI

kuro didn't immediately join the express, he did wander for a while. it didn't feel right to pick up a new path right away. and despite losing his status as an emanator, he'd maintained his immortality-- though he's yet to suffer the effects of mara, despite his surprisingly long life. only time will tell there.

welt and hi/meko know about kuro's past. and he is accepted a temporary passenger who's job is to help pom pom in keeping the train tidy. though his stay ends up being much longer than any of them anticipated. making a home in a large room of a secondary passenger car. where he has about 6 cats, not including mimi. who he's convinced is hyper intelligent, and has a genuine personality. he gets along with the crew as much as he can. never really putting himself out there, and usually... usually avoiding visitors to the express whenever they come by to see the mc. the only one he will come out to see consistently is ar/genti.

he really wasn't too present for the first arc, but he did leave the train with the other three. and got to see jarlio/VI with mimi. they mostly stayed out of trouble, and sorta just,,, vanished for a bit. found back on the train when it was finished.

the luo/fu, the xian/zhou, and jing/yuan

kuro really does his best to not be a part of this one. his history, as mentioned above, with the xian/zhou is not good. and he has quite the bounty on his head, despite the several of centuries since he last saw the fleet. when he does actually leave to board the luo/fu he wears some extra accessories to disguise himself. but, jing/yuan despite the distraction of the stellaron & phanty/lia... finds him.

it's after this point, that kuro's past and history with yao/shi become entirely public to everyone. and he is almost imprisoned in the shackling prison. something he barely escapes thanks to ?????????????????? then vanishes entirely from the express, along with mimi. hm.

pena/cony, boot/hill & the IPC ( a wip, im playing through it now )

long story short- kuro ends up at the pena/cony. how he gets there is still pretty up in the air. but he does have his own room.

( meaning i will be adding more to this post as i go!!! )

in that span of time however, between the luo/fu and the pena/cony-- he does meet boot/hill. i'm aware his lore is also very unfinished, open, and much of his backstory is really just speculation. but i've got a bit of plotting going, and the two of them are in a bit of an in-between stage at the moment. making the two's meeting entirely possible and,, potentially beneficial to both? also, boot/hill is optimistic, and frankly quite unhinged. where as kuro tends to be nihilistic, and more mellow in comparison. it's a funny sort of interaction, very silly, i love it.

i do wonder if kuro's relationship or opinion of the IPC is also sour. though it's nothing compared to the xian/zhou, kuro's hands are not at all clean. and he's messed up at least one ( smaller ) planet in the past so, hm.

BIG potential for kuro to become a galaxy ranger as end game :)

In your opinion, is it worth watching Supernatural if you missed the superwholock craze and your only exposure has been meta posts

my darling anon, i’m a supernatural fan, i’m going to say yes. BUT. with caveats. one; depends on the meta you’ve been exposed to, because if you’ve been told by tumblr gifs it’ll be an epic love story between that dude and his angel, i’m so sorry to disappoint you but that’s not what the show is about. but if the meta you’ve gotten is about the actual themes of the show, go right ahead.

(to be clear, like, there’s still stuff to dig into for destiel. i just wouldn’t want you to go in expecting a romcom in a horror story.)

CAVEAT TWO: you gotta understand that supernatural is really like 5 or 6 shows in a trenchcoat building on top of one another. like s1-3 are pretty solidly their own show, cut down early by the writer’s strike and even delineated nicely by being filmed on. film. rather than digitally. s4-5 are their own thing. s1-5 are their own complete arc, and honestly, you can just watch that and have a pretty good time with some genuinely fantastically put together television. and then after that s6 is kinda its own thing, 7-8 too, 9-11, and then 12-15 i just lump together as Bad but im sure someone else would actually classify them by arc or whatever.

okay god we’re putting a cut now im not gonna shut up im sorry

i think more people should watch s1-5 of supernatural. it’s silly, it’s scary, it’s full of fucked up shit and things that will mess you up for life (affectionate). and then i say watch the rest until you don’t enjoy it and then drop it. don’t feel obligated to watch all 15 cause it loses the plot Fast and it also. gets bad. like if you want my rec, i say stick it out till s11 and then if you can stand it, s12 for [SPOILER] coming back to life. but i would never in my life tell anyone to watch s13-15 unless they had literally nothing left to do and a gun to their head. i watched it but im not a good role model.

uhhh what else should you know. oh, yeah, there’s a lot of references to non-con/rape in it, some of them the show takes seriously and some it’ll play for laughs with some 2010s era misogyny. there’s also a lot of moments that, depending on how charitable you feel like being, are either poorly thought out or straight out racist or homophobic. the show does very little to address its misogyny, homophobia, or racism until it gets put down like a dog behind a shed. i’m telling you this to prepare you for it, because i think engaging with the show is still worth something, especially if you take the time to entangle those elements and examine how the writers have used them to justify a world in which two white guys roll into town, kill a scary monster with extrajudicial justice to save the suburban families, and leave.

and then, of course, if u watch it you can also come yell at me about it :3

uhm. but seriously. supernatural is a complicated show. but it’s worth watching. there’s a lot of good in there with the bad. the way it approaches angels and heaven in the early seasons especially is so fucking fascinating, so if you like religious stuff at all, i’d say go in for it. the acting can be. well. the main guys range from ‘holy shit this is stressing me out to watch it’s so good’ to ‘okay’ to ‘jesus fucking christ please get the camera off of him.’ (and if you watch the show, i’ll let you guess which is which lmao.) but a lot of the people who come in to play side characters kill it in their roles. shout out to jdm. there for like 3 episodes purely to fuck me up forever. lifechanging performance, i’m so serious.

tldr: supernatural is genuinely a good show, for a while, and when it ain’t, it’s still fun, and when it stops being that, just put the show down. just keep your expectations in check regarding what the show is telling you it’s about and don’t expect it to be more. (like. feel free to fantasize about what if it Was more, i sure do, but don’t let that cloud your vision on what the show, as it stands, really is about and is trying to say.) and be prepared for the messy shit it’ll hit you with along the way.

and the fandom is pretty neat too, so long as you use the block button liberally <3

I just reread strange trails and I'd love to know your inspirations for it! Your ideas behind the worldbuilding, the genesis of the plot, all that good stuff if you'd like to share!

the backstory

im a college student and was unemployed all summer. in order to pass the time while waiting for local jobs to reject me i started a crochet project. throughout pretty much the entire month of june. and possibly also may. i would make my squares and listen to the strange trails album. straight through. every day. i may have gone a little bit insane.

but it's okay. i'm already insane.

lord huron (the band who made the album) has like. lore. am i familiar with this lore? no i am not. am i aware nonetheless that there is lore? yes absolutely. if you listen to their discography there's definitely lore -- recurring themes (resurrection, adventuring, magical seductive women, etc), motifs (depends on the album but strange trails is big on flowers, trees, snow, although there is one song that's set in the desert), characters (they keep mentioning a guy called the world ender.) anyHway the point of all of this is that the music is [solid 7.5 out of 10 but it scratches my exact brain itches] and very evocative of the imagery and idea of a deeper world. my favourite off the album (and one of my favourites in the discography) is la belle fleur sauvage, which tells the listener about a long perilous quest for some mythical thing (a flower. also a woman. metaphor), although one of the ones whose imagery i enjoyed the most is frozen pines, which is a little less concrete but invokes images of cold, the side of a mountain, strange happenings, etc.

the idea

those songs are definitely the most direct inspiration for it but unfortunately my process for developing ideas is kind of terrible because it involves less "sitting down and coming up with stuff" and more "wait for a 60% formed idea to smack you upside the head like rapunzel in tangled and her cast-iron frying pan." which quinn and his sad little corpse did.

if you go back far enough in the quinnfic tag on my blog u can see the post right after it Happened. the idea was literally "quinn hughes carries a corpse up a mountain, and horror."

so i take this little piece of grit from which my pearl of questionable moral integrity will be built and i ask it questions. first off: quinn, why are you on that mountain? who is the corpse? is anyone else with you? soon enough petey decided to join him (although quinn is and was always the protagonist/pov character). the body was The Ghost Of Vancouver before it was brock over top of that.

another inspiration, which i realize i'm leaving out, is this

this is artist grayson perry's work "hold your beliefs lightly" from tomb of the unknown craftsman, and this image of a long perilous upward journey towards some sacred place really combined together with la belle fleur sauvage to form the base idea of the world for the work.

and of course why would you carry a corpse up a mountain to some sacred place if you couldn't resurrect it at the end?

im big on metaphor. if i'm writing something long it has to have a Point to it, some larger theme than romance and stuff (this is mostly because i'm bad at writing romance)(and also big on curses and the like.) and also because quinn hughes asexual barb i never fucked/i never fucked/all my life man, fucks sake. this was also being written right before the peak of Canucks Captaincy Debate, and in our hearts didn't we all know quinn was going to be the one to wear the c?

so it became pretty clear pretty quick that as well as my attempt at writing horror that this was going to be a quinn character study -- and this is where i should talk about my other fic scheherazade.

in scheherazade, auston actually doesn't make a lot of choices -- he tags along, arguing with the narrator/bill, and only starts to take an active role in the way the story is going near the end, when he finally gets sick of it all. quinn, however, is not at all the same kind of person as auston. he's less artistic and more practical; an older brother instead of a younger one; jewish; not nearly so squeamish. he takes an active role in the story from the very beginning, showing up to the base of the mountain with his pack full, both prepared and not for what lies ahead.

the mountain

vancouver is smack in the middle of the north shore mountains, so there's a million hiking trails about, but the one i can most easily think of (as someone who hasn't been to vancouver in several years) is the grouse grind trail, a popular and fairly short trail that the canucks prospects actually do every year, so i knew quinn and petey (both vancouver draftees) would be familiar. i've never actually done the grouse grind, which was part of the reason i decided to kind of. toy with reality. you can't call me out on inaccuracy when it's Not Real On Purpose (although the sign at the 1/4 mark is copied directly from photos i've seen.)

petey and the plot

once i added petey, i knew i'd have to get rid of him -- a lot of the scene ideas were quinn-only, and petey's way too sarcastic and useless (AFFECTIONATE) to engage seriously with the ideas presented to him like quinn would and did. so i needed to divide them up.

the original plot idea from the outline is actually pretty similar up until the end of chapter 6 (the conversation w the ghost), but it differs in a few crucial ways -- one, quinn breaks down again, crying and everything, and two, he actually does go through with the resurrection instead of using his wish to get petey down the mountain safely. i realized around then that this wouldn't work with the quinn i'd created, especially after his argument with the ghost: he's far less focused on glory than stability, less interested in the cup or his contract and more interested in the safe long bet than high rolling. in a cold, wet environment like the mountain it's a lot easier to get hypothermia without noticing than it is in a dry environment, even if the dry environment is several degrees colder than the wet one. and quinn would know that, having seen petey's thin little sweater and knowing his stubborn ass is going to freeze.

so after that it became about hypothermia. i actually had a bit of a writing pause after this because i knew i was going off-outline, so i had to kind of inch ahead until i knew where i was going. but i'm happy with how it turned out!

Hello! I've never watched any of 明星大侦探 before, but I miss 何老师 enough (and also I'm really in the mood for some escapism reality TV). Any suggestions on which season I should start with?

Yeeessssss!!! Im always so happy when Im asked about MXDZT!! I love this whacky genius of a show <3 and oh man, He laoshi is SUCH a delight in it.

My recs change depending on whether you need subs, but I’m assuming you don’t, given the “何老师” 😁

In both cases my first rec would be starting with S5 Episode 1 & 2. It’s an amazingly loveable cast for a great concept, and absolutely brilliant plot for S5E2 especially. (It’s one big story in 2 eps)

I know a lot of recs tend to put S1 first, and it’s true many inside jokes and iconic verses originated from S1 before being built on afterwards. But S1 was also back when it was still a simple murder-solving show, and they didnt explore themes in-depth yet. The cast was still figuring their dynamics out, too.

So I propose S5E1-S5E2 first to get a taste of what the show became, including how the main cast’s dynamics are, and the kind of wild wild plot and hilarity you can expect. Then I suggest starting with selected eps of S1 again to see the evolution of the cast dynamics and where a lot of the running gags came from.

In particular, S1E2-S1E3 are pretty important for the NZND verse, which comes back (and is delightful) every season since then ^^ and for the airplane murder (there are many airplane murders). There is also S1E7 (reply to 1998, iconic for Sa), and S1E8 (the ‘beauty is to blame’ verse is also a big running gag)

Every NZND ep (S1E3, S2E5, S3E5, S4E4, S5E6, S6E10)

I am a bit biased in that S6 is my favorite season. I loved every single ep in it, but had an especially good time w S6E1-S6E2, S6E10, S6E5, S6E6, S6E9 (OH BOY S6E9) and S6E12.

Friendly note that even if a running gag originated in a previous season, it is still hilarious no matter when you first run into it. The show is very good at enabling viewers to see things out of order.

If you fall in love with the cast dynamics and the dynamics between He Jiong and Sa Beining (main hosts in S1-S6), like me, you might have a hard time continuing past S6 because Sa Beining had to quit the show (new cctv rules i hear). But S7 as a whole is an ode to Sa Beining, and it culminates with S7E11, which wraps up Sa laoshi’s story and made me very emotional.

so what the FUCK was up with the netflix movie i-

agatha and sophie and actually friends here wtf the fact that sophie befriended agatha as her One Good Deed for the year is one of the driving forces of the plot im 😭😭

also sophie comes of as Actually Nice in the beginning which is really weird-because i loved seeing Textbook Nice Things be warped because of execution/intent that we were given in the book, like backhanded compliments and whatnot

im also sad about them taking out agathas dependency on sophie- their unhealthy relationship where sophie would step on agatha to achieve her ambitions while agatha thinks about sophie at every turn- like "a room full of sophies" was such a striking line from the book and it stuck to me for so long because it emphasized agathas poor self perception and her borderline worship for sophie

I mean i understand why they took it out of the movie but gahhh

Also the people of gavaldon dont seem to know stuff . Like theyre aloof and they dont know that every x years a kid gets taken to the school by the headmaster like in the books- Yes i understand trying to condense smt into movie format for an audience who havent read tje books yet but i loved the enchanting horror of gavaldon being inescapable and everyone just accepting the unreality of their situation by forcing themselves to Be Mediocre

ALSO WHATS WITH THE BLOOD MAGIC??? it couldve just been Stronger Magic tm but they had to spookify it i guess 😭

1. do u prefer a standalone or a series?

oh a hard one! i like a short series (3 or 4 books) but a well-crafted standalone is difficult to beat! i feel like it honestly depends on how well i feel the author wrapped up the plot and emotional arcs. often tho i like seeing more of various characters so i guess sliiiight series?

3. ur least fav genre? why?

hard sci-fi is a really hard sell for me and i'm VERY picky. so often it's so technical in a way that feels deeply inaccessible and it muddies or obscures the feelings aspect? like a good sci-fi is good but a bad sci-fi is nigh unreadable. i am also not a huge crime novel person -- love a cozy mystery; don't love ~grim and realistic murder~. and horror! im a weenie

4. a book which had a tv adaption that was better than the book itself?

i finally read cocaine blues, which is the first miss fisher's murder mysteries book, and the show is SO much better imo. less clothing descriptions and miss fisher herself is simply more charismatic when it's essie davis

it's not my preferred method of dealing with the conflict but im not as mad at it as i feared i might be with an ep 11 ending. it at the very least isn't going to sour the series for me (most likely, we still have to give ep 12 her chance obvs) and i understand most of the thought process.

BUT i understand you not feeling it so i'm here with a distraction. now that jimmysea are the it-girl of the month and i think we can assume them getting a new series has a good likely hood: what type of show would you most like to see them tackle?

personally i'd love to see them in a period piece. i just think they have the longing down so perfectly and their outfits in ep 8 were a true inspiration on many fronts. OR something supernatural since we're giving those away in 2024 anyway.

more important than genre tho is sea being allowed to be the overtly flirty one and jimmy to be the shy one this time around :))

I HAVE SO MANY KIND OF SHOWS I WANT TO SEE JIMMYSEA STAR IN THO IT'S SO HARD TO PICK ONLY ONE GENRE!!!!!!! part of me really wants that teacher x single parent romcom to happen because i NEED to see more of them with kids, but at the same time i would love to have them play in something more challenging and completely different like a thriller. im kinda obsessed with the idea of jimmy being the witness of a murder and having to be put under protection until the trial and sea being one of the police officer assigned to keep him safe OR something like the fugitive with sea being framed for a murder he did not commit and managing to escape while being taken to prison and jimmy being one of the correction officers who was on the bus and who ends up being taken 'hostage' by sea but eventually helps him prove his innocence

but also i would LOVE an historical setting for them because like you said they are SOOOO GOOD at longing and pining and restraint and subtle touches that carry so much weight and i need more of that too!!!!!! also the medical drama of my dreams!!!!!! or a good horror!!!!!! JUST GIVE THEM 100 SERIES FR SO THEY CAN EXPLORE ALL TYPES OF PLOT AND GENRE!!!!!!!!!
