If you’re not just doing that, may I ask for a 2012!Donatello x mute!reader scenario where Donnie is oblivious to his crush on reader and still attributes it to it being April until Splinter/one of his brothers brings up that he’s been a lot less fixated on April’s attention and has been starting to pick up more and more things related to the reader themselves (ex. Learning sign language to understand their responses), and when he’s alone he analyzes it and it’s an “…oh.” Moment for him?

★ Obviously he was going to learn sigh language. There is no way he wouldn't. The turtle wasted no time, asking (bribeing) Casey to get him a book on sign language to study. He picks up the language fairly quickly.

★ if you are completely deaf he talks whilest signing when he's around you. This helps some of the visual learners in his family *cough Mikey cough* learn the language.

★ Donnie vividly remembers the time Mikey told you he loved you by accident. The sign for "I love you" is just 🤟 and he did the hand motion without knowing what it meant. Same thing happened with "hurt" as it's just 👉👈 with your fingers.

★ Splinter was the one to tell Donnie he had a crush on you. He can clearly see his son is growing attached to you and it's very obvious he has feelings for you. How the smartest one can be so oblivious, he will never know.

★ It hits him like a ton of bricks when he realizes that what he's feeling for you might not just be that of adoration. He's mostly just panicking about it but a hint of excitement sparks through him.

★ Did he really have a crush on you? Would you even feel the same way?? How long has he even liked you??? His brothers were never going to let him hear the end of this.

Napoleon and Water

Excerpt from the book Aaron Burr in Exile: A Pariah in Paris, 1810-1811, by Jane Merrill and John Endicott

Aaron Burr lived in Paris for 15 months, and this book goes into detail about those years living under Napoleon’s rule. This part focuses on Napoleon’s water related reforms.

Napoleon’s fountains gave drinking water to the population, that is, children drank water, not beer. The water was free, not purchased. And the apartment would have had a separate water closet equipped with squat toilets (adopted from the Turks) and a bucket to wash it after use. Some restaurants and cafes had W.C.s, even one for ladies and one for gents. These were hooked into the sewer system that branched under each important street.

Napoleon merits points for delivering fresh water to Paris. If serving Paris with water from the d'Ourcq River by canals was not be a consummate success, Paris gained 40 new fountains, and the emperor commanded that fountains run all day (instead of a few limited hours) and that the water be free of charge.

Perhaps the most laudable of Napoleon’s policies were utilitarian city works, especially bringing clean water and sanitation to Paris. The improvements to infrastructure included new quays to prevent floods, new gutters and pavement, new aqueducts and fountains, and relocating cemeteries and slaughterhouses to the outskirts of the city. This was also a way of keeping up employment. An Austrian aristocrat in town during Napoleon’s wedding to Marie-Louise wrote his mother, in Vienna: “Nothing can give an idea of the immense projects undertaken simultaneously in Paris. The incoherence of it is incredible; one cannot imagine that the life of a single man would be enough to finish them.”

It was a tall order. Previous rulers had been aware of the problems and one big engineering initiative, a failed marvel, had been the waterworks at Marly, located on the banks of the Seine about seven miles from Paris. Louis XIV had it constructed to pump water from the river to his chateaux of Versailles and Marly. This was the machine marvel of its age, with 250 pumps that forced river water up a 500-foot rise to an aqueduct, and it was a sight Burr mentions going to see. By 1817 the “Marly machine” had deteriorated because it was made of wood, and the waterworks were abandoned.

Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve, the prominent 19th century literary critic, wrote that there had been “ten years of anarchy, sedition and laxity, during which no useful work had been undertaken, not a street had been cleaned, not a residence repaired nothing improved or cleansed.” Postrevolutionary Paris was at a nadir in terms of both the inadequate, disease-ridden water supply and the filthy streets, which were basically open sewers, deep with black mud and refuse.

“Napoleon,” writes Alistair Horne, “was obsessed by the water of Paris, and everything to do with it.”

Parisians had mostly been getting their water directly from the Seine or lining up at the scant pay fountains. In 1806, nineteen new wells for fountains were dug that flowed day and night and were free. Napoleon had a canal built 60 miles from the River Ourcq, ordering 500 men to dig it, while still a consul in 1801. It brought water to the Bassin de la Villette, opening in 1808. Some doubted the wisdom of having such an abundance of water—an oriental luxury that might incur moral decay. Now the supply of water for firefighting was also much improved. The canal had light boats, as Napoleon tried to make back some of the huge expenditure by licensing navigation, and a circular aqueduct from which underground conduits went to the central city. In 1810, there were still many water porters wheeling barrels through the city.

Now Napoleon attacked the problem of the Seine as a catchall for pollution. Parisians were so used to it that men swam naked in the river and a contemporary guidebook advised merely that the water of the Seine had no ill effects on foreigners so long as they drank it mixed with wine or a drop of vinegar. Thus houses on bridges were demolished and an immense push began to clean and modernize the city sewers.

As this book is about Aaron Burr, here is section about Burr taking inspiration by a new water related invention during his time in Paris:

Remarkably for someone who was very aware of his health, he never complained of the water. He did, however, take an interest in an invention to make it easier to dig a well. When the inventor of a process to make vinegar from the sap of any tree was not in his shop, Burr and a friend, “Crede”, went to see another invention: “We went then to see Mons. Cagniard, and his new invention of raising water and performing any mechanical operation. His apparatus is a screw of Archimedes turned the reverse, air, water, and quick silver. Cagniard was abroad; but we saw a model, and worked it, and got the report of a committee of the Institute on the subject. If the thing performs what is said I will apply it to give water to Charleston.”

Answered here. Overall opinion; there is little to no evidence or material surviving about them or what their relationship could have been like. It is my assumption they, at the very least, heard of each other through their fathers or just public talk in general. Wether they were rivals, lovers, sounds more unlikely than anything—when they were probably just rather acquainted, as it would have been hard to not hear or see of the other with their fathers in close quarters and business throughout their lives. It is mostly fandom based, and the lack of records on Theodosia and Philip in general supplies even less room to analyze what unknown relations could have existed between them.

ooh, this is a tough one, i'm not sure. i really like cecil's progression throughout the whole show, going from a government yes-man to standing up for change and not trusting the government blindly multiple times. it's lovely to see people be changed by the ones they love, because i'm certain that without meeting carlos, it wouldn't have been as easy for him to change :)

big dream central for ray, honestly - his parents were immigrants from pakistan, and he was raised to work hard, never give up on his dreams, protect his own, and value his morals, above all else. he was taught to live humbly, comfortably, and his parents had little but love to offer their children, and worked long hours. he was the youngest, and the only to be born in the states, americanized from the beginning and always felt a little too large for their little life. none of their dreams seemed to fit his, but they were older, and they let him fly the nest after a few hard years of trying to tame his beast within. he never did allow it to settle, and he blossomed quickly.

Wei Fu Xiu (Jet Li, Li LianJie)

Jet Li, when I first saw him in movies, he immediately became my idol. I think his older pictures are a little better. Looks authentic. Wei definitely looks like him.

Mei Yu Lan (Michelle Yeoh)

Another idol of mine! She's so pretty and I think I got most of YuLan facial appearance from her. Whenever she's in a movie, I'll watch.

Viktoriya Belinskaya (Irina Starshenbaum)

From the movie T-34, I think she was beautiful. Although I don't know much of her. I think her acting is great and looks alot like the vision of Viktoriya.

James Kingsley (Leslie Odom Jr.)

I relate James to him alot. From looks to his role. In his play in Hamilton, I think his character (Aaron Burr) is alot like James, mostly Primis Kingsley. Mostly found him in Hamilton and realised that he's in most of the movie I watch.

Do you think Percy is aware of the reason why his schoolmates/relatives stopped playing bunions and flagons with him? If he is, do you think he’d play it off as their fault if asked or more of his own? If he’s not, what would his reasoning be?

I don't think he realised at the time. I don't think he realised for many years, actually. First, I think he was hurt, and then I think he recoiled in on himself and decided playing with others wasn't worth it, because obviously they didn't get how to play optimally (that is to say, like a goddamn munchkin), and after all it's only a game, and then he was moved into private tutoring with Anders so he had something to lord over those old classmates as a sign of his superiority to assuage his wounded pride and then.

The Briarwoods.

And then Percy kind of isn't in a place to really look at any of that shit for some time.

I think he first starts to twig it is with first Keyleth and then later Vax, people who he likes and respects and who will wilfully call him out on his bullshit. I don't think he registers or processes it immediately, but I think these two pushing back against him helps him start to realise he can be kind of a dick. Vex then talking to him about forgiveness of himself and his past self I think helped push him to realise that he should actually think more about his mistakes and things he doesn't like dwelling on, and I think this all sets him up for when he does finally realise it.

Which is when he plays it with his kids.

(Incoming headcanon in good part due to conversations with @rightpastnowhere and @burr-ell, BUT-)

Percy doesn't always do well being outright told things; it helps to either be someone he'll always listen to (Vex) or to prove it to him, and I think teaching his kids to play Bunions & Flagons, and watching some of them min-max and some of them aim for fun and him trying to convince them that the goal is fun, not to rush to the end - I think that helps him realise just how insufferable he'd been in a way the simple knowledge that he can be kind of a dick didn't.

Percy knows he can be arrogant and prideful - he makes a comment of it to Keyleth "The most privileged thing I've said that you've heard". He knows he's an arrogant wanker and he mostly tries to use it to keep his dignity and to help the group.

It's one thing to know. It's another to experience.

And I think Percy being on the receiving end of it really helps him go from "Ugh, I was probably insufferable before the Briarwoods" to "GOOD GOD I WAS INSUFFERABLE BEFORE THE BRIARWOODS" - and I think that's when he grows that little bit more.

I honestly don't think he'd have specifically thought about the Bunions & Flagons games until such a time as he ran games for his kids, not after the Briarwoods, but once he ran them - I think that made him twig that he was kind of infuriating.

Carl Barks has always desired to turn a hobby he mostly enjoyed into a profession, that is drawing. As a child he had spent all his free time drawing on any material that was available to him. In 1935, Barks was employed at the Walt Disney Studios as an inbetweener when the studio just launched the major star, Donald Duck. Barks was rewarded for often suggesting ideas by being transferred to the story department. He then worked as a gag writer and storyboard artist and created many more characters in latter years.

when rowan died, sammi's magic died with them, which resulted in him becoming an ordinary ferret once again. his more human-like intelligence, his capacity to understand speech, and most importantly his keen memory - all gone. he also became weak, sickly, and was in an almost perpetual state of confusion. he didn't forget rowan completely, but his memories were very vague; he had retained nothing related to being a magician's familiar, nor did he remember rowan's face. when rowan was revived a year later, sammi didn't remember him still, but very quickly grew attached to him and was basically glued to him while he recovered from the ritual and got used to having a body again. sammi's memories never quite return, even after their magical bond reformed and sammi became rowan's familiar again, but he always has a sense of closeness with rowan, knowing that they've always been important to him.

rowan, obviously, didn't remember him at all after they woke up. they were just like "oh asra's ferret really likes me. cool." due to how much time they end up spending together, he becomes their familiar very early on in their magical studies, and their relationship more or less goes back to what it once was after that. rowan talks to sammi a lot, seeks advice from him, and generally uses his presence to keep themself sane. rowan eventually gets their memories back in a sense, but it doesn't really matter in sammi's case, because by then they're already just as close as they were before.

pre-death/plague era: not that often. obviously they lived together and sammi slept in rowan's room, but he mostly stayed in the shop whenever rowan went shopping or out to work in julian's clinic/the palace. he was always with them whenever rowan found the time to do some work around the shop, however, and whenever rowan had free time, ferret cuddle sessions were a must to help him cope with how much he hated his life.

post-resurrection/game timeline: sammi is stuck to rowan like burrs. constantly riding on their shoulder whenever they're walking around or curled up in their lap when they're sat down. goes anywhere and everywhere with him. pretty much the only time he isn't climbing all over rowan is when they either give him a task to do, or specifically request privacy. sammi is just generally very unwilling to let rowan out of his sight.

Alternative Universes

ROYALS AU- This is the main AU on my blog. It’s where most of my original characters thrive in. This AU revolves around the same storyline but things are different. For one, Wu and Garmadon aren’t old looking men. They look young (like season 7 flashbacks) and are married to different people. Lloyd is a prince, he has other siblings, there are anthro characters (because they’re much better than drawing human ones and honestly a dynamic between humans and anthros getting along just makes he smile).

Last of Their Kind or LOTKAU: This is where Garmadon (and Mystake) are the last oni in all the Sixteen Realms. Wu is the last dragon in all of Ninjago. Garmadon has pups with his mate Burr (the last Formling in Ninjago) and that’s how Lloyd is around. Lloyd is the main man (or oni) of this AU. Since a young pup, Lloyd loves the idea of meeting humans and becoming friends with them. He gets his chance when the Gang (they don’t go by Ninja) come and camp in The Valley. 

Nautica AU: This is an AU where it’s a crossover between Subnautica and Ninjago. Why? Because I was bored and thought it would be fun. This AU is where the Ninja and their young crash down onto a predominantly water world. Nya and Nyad exist as water goddesses in this AU. It’s supposed to be a sweet family thing. It revolves around Jay and Nya’s child, Ara. 

Train Zone AU: This AU is basically where Wu and Garmadon accidentally screw things up on their journey and land into my world Craftia and are taken in by Warrior and her crew. It’s also a sweet family fluff thing. 

Craftian Wind AU: An Aurawind AU where Morro left Wu and managed to get into Craftia. Gets attacked and unsavory things happen to him, Warrior and her group save Morro’s assaulters before they could kill him. They then take him in and get him to full health. Morro stays with Warrior in Craftia and a romance blossoms between them. It’s just fluff and angst. Mostly fluff though.
