#but jon has to be the pupil when it happens

ive been trying for 30 mins to write a post about why the Web's plan is still confusing, but I think I should face the truth and admit to myself that it's not that it makes no sense, it's just... so convoluted
#they needed jon to kill jonah cause it seems like only he could call him down#and they couldnt go through with the original plan because.... tbh still not sure on that one. at least not with the reasoning annabelle#gives. assuming that how everything works out now is how they intended it to#which it must be because if jon was ever ever going to consider 'letting anyone else feel that guilt' he sure as hell wasn't now that he#got introduced to the plan while a giant spider dangled his boyfriend above a pit. not conducive to jon cooperation#so originally spidermartin would have driven him to burn the archives and kill jonah. but theyre bond is too strong now so even if martin#would be spiders Jon wouldnt do the plan. .... huh#i just dont get that leap#why does their bond being stronger make jon less willing to burn it all down. so to say#would he want to keep his promise to martin and not become the pupil? but he did! he does! he does even when martin ISNT spiders! aaah#one thing that could make everything more elegant is if Annabelle wasnt telling the whole truth. she says they need to kill 'the pupil'#jon has been described as 'the pupil' as early as s2. and why would the Fears follow his voice on the tapes#and not just stick with his voice in jon the person?#solution; not only does the pupil have to die and the archives burn down at the same time#but jon has to be the pupil when it happens#... except that ALSO doesnt work because according to Jon Annabelle wasnt lying when she said that this would allow them both to 'survive'!#so unless we read the transcript in very bad faith and assume that she was talking about the hypothetical scenario of íf the fears leave;#then youll live; (but for them to leave youll have to die) this solution is out as well#but it would mean theyd need martin unspidered because hed be the only person able to kill jon when hes the pupil because 'it feels right'#(throwback to 178)#tma#tma meta#joos yaps#delete later#a mag a day#tma s5#one nearly incoherent ramble later.....#if anyone has a good Watsonian solution to tie everything up neatly plz link me to a post

MY THOUGHTS FOR EP 10
OK SO THE CASEMENT
It introduced us to mr bonzo and the Tv presenter and was pretty good for a backstory of what happened uh and suspicious murders :000
I don’t really have much to say that isn’t gonna come back in his actual appearance
Colin
Surprisingly isn’t dead but is still investigating stuff and by the sounds of it against the others wishes. Also he’s not supposed to be back by what he said to Celia so he’s going against Lena’s orders which should be fun
THE INSTITUTE
Ok so
They found a key
That leads to the tunnels I’m assuming by the sound of the trap door opening and the hole in the floor
Sam sounds like he’s finally “given up” on the institute or has atleast to Alice
But
He let something out
And the glitchy breath sounded a lot like Jon’s voice in 200 when he’s the pupil so
IS JON IN THE TUNNELS?!!?! Also TAPERECORDER?!??! THERE WAS A TAPE RECORDER!!!! WHAT
WHAT
So we know that whatever’s listening can listen through anything now
TV’s, computers, security cameras, phones and tape recorders
Mr bonzo
Probably shouldn’t done the institute after but yeah
Poor Gwen
Thought he was gonna kill her
SO MR BONZO DEFINITELY COMITTED THOSE RECENT MURDERS RIGHT?
And he’s in control of Nigel and this isn’t the first time the OIAR has given letters
And by the sound of “this could’ve gone worse” mr bonzo has probably killed or attacked people from there before
Very scared
The first time an episode from either series has properly scared me with mr bonzo so
Gwens terrified so am I
It’s mr bonzos house now

Jonathan Kent headcanons✨
to be fair some of these are for all kryptonians but i wanted to talk about him exclusively because i love him
He has a lot of behaviours/habits that do look weird, which is strange on itself because he’s been raised as a human and his dad was raised as a human, it just seems to come naturally.
Despite not acting completely human, he can read social cues and facial expressions really well even without his super senses.
The glasses: why are they a good disguise? My personal opinion is that kryptonian eyes look completely alien and unique. Not only do they have a colour that’s too intense to be real, their pupils are not black- they’re a lighter tone than their irises. So like, the glasses drive attention away and probably have some sort of film that helps conceal them.
He can’t tan much. As a kid he was pale as a ghost but as he grew up he could get a bit more melanin, tho never too much. Which is funny bc I think Clark does have a good tan.
Something about how kryptonians look makes you feel unsettled after you look at them long enough, and if you stare for quite a bit you’ll inevitably think of the uncanny valley effect. They look human enough to be very convincing, but they’re too perfect and flawless.
Jon’s half ‘n half but he still looks more kryptonian than human, he’s a mini Clark after all.
If you asked me to design him all grown up I would actually make him shorter- mostly bc I think it’d be hilarious for ppl to underestimate him. Imagine how many idiots would overlook this pretty boy only to be hit in the face with the fact he’s kryptonian. Lots of wasted comedy right there.
He has no fashion sense. I’m sorry but it’s true and you know it.
His childhood hero crush was definitely Nightwing.
Growing up is realising his (Nightwing’s) little brother’s much cuter.
He’s indeed a ray of sunshine, but he’s also a sarcastic and problematic little shit as product of hanging around the Wayne kids far too much.
I’ve probably mentioned this in one of my previous posts but he has a room of his own in Wayne manor ever since he started being bffs with Damian. he prefers to sleep with Damian now but it’s still there.
He’s probably the only person brave enough to call Bruce uncle when he was a kid.
He’s diagnosed with ADHD but it’s actually just his half alien brain working differently/faster than a human’s, which makes it harder to focus since humans do things too slow in comparison.
Once he decides he’s your friend you’re never getting rid of him.
the age up never happened it’s true i’m actually DC

Need You Here
Annabelle insists that it wasn't part of her plan. The Jump has left her weak, barely connected to the Mother of Puppets by more than a thread. Her face, her voice, are completely sincere. Her sympathy true and deep. She tells Martin that it was not a part of her plan for Jon to become the Pupil of the Eye. She didn't mean for Jon and Martin to travel with her at all.
She didn't plan for Jon to die. Martin wishes that she had.
Jon/Martin, 3k words, rated T, read on AO3. this is for day 4 of @jonmartinweek for the prompt Tea as a Love Language / Beyond the Grave. Content warning for grieving, heavy description of blood, and ghost shenanigans
He doesn't want to believe that Jon became the Pupil, that he betrayed him, because of own lack of self control. He doesn't want to believe that Jon's blood is on his hands for the rest of his life. He doesn't want to believe that he killed the love of his life. He wants to blame it on someone else. If it had been Annabelle's intention all this time, it would be so much easier. Maybe it would let him sleep at night if he could just say that it was always going to happen, because the Web decided it would happen.
But, no. In her infinite pity, Annabelle assures Martin that she didn't want Jon to die. She thinks it might make him feel better. It makes him want to vomit. Or scream. Or cry. Or all three. Instead, he stares at her blankly, barely even processing what's around him except for the limp weight of Jonathan Sims in his arms.
When he eventually tears his eyes away from her face—her awful, grinning, blood and tear stained face—he meets Jon's eyes. Or, he tries to. Jon's eyes have turned a brown that Martin, for just a moment, couldn't even remember he had. They're dark, almost black, but when the rising sun hits them, they turn vibrant. His gaze is glazed over. The whites almost pink with how bloodshot they are. Dried blood flakes off his skin from where they poured out of his eyes. Out of his mouth. His shirt is completely saturated with dark, dark red. Martin takes his face in one hand, the other arm hooked under him so he's not laying on the ground. There's ink on his hands. Ink and blood and dirt.
Annabelle drags herself closer. The snow crunches under her as she leans in to look at his face.
"Thank you, Archivist," she whispers. And she kisses his forehead. Tears drip out of Martin's eyes.
He tilts forward, wraps Jon up in his arms, cradles the back of his head, and he cries. He cries harder than he thinks he ever has in his life. Annabelle rubs between his shoulders with a delicate hand, and he wants to tell her to get away from him. To not even think of touching him. But his sobbing too much to get anything that could count as a word out.
He stays there for a very long while. It's well into the morning before he can be convinced to let Jon go. He can barely see the forest they've landed in through the fog.
//
Martin hates to admit it, but Annabelle has helped him a lot. Not emotionally, god forbid, but practically. Even weak and in a completely foreign universe, she is still a master manipulator.
(Martin isn't exactly any better, himself. It turns out, stealing money from Peter Lukas is easy in every dimension.)
She helps him find a flat, a nice job in a library—since that went so well the last time—and for the most part, she leaves him alone. To his relief, she doesn't try to comfort him beyond her attempt in the forest. She doesn't try to become friends, or tell him to stay in touch. She just makes sure that he isn't about to top himself and moves on to whatever she has planned next.
Martin stands in the middle of his flat. The only thing that fills it is a pool of fog wisping around his ankles. No furniture except for the couch and coffee table that came with the place. No bed, he doesn't exactly sleep anymore. He just lays on the couch for some amount of hours and hopes he doesn't have another nightmare consisting of Jon and the Panopticon and the knife.
The library job is, thankfully very quiet. It's an underfunded little building whose 'rush hour' is four or five kids popping in after school to pick up some books or hang out for a bit before they go home. He checks books out. He checks them back in. He logs what books are in the cart. He puts them back on the shelf. It's all muscle memory by now (he would hope so after eleven years of doing it in the Magnus Institute).
His coworkers don't talk to him. They'll say good morning, how are you, Martin? And Martin will say, I'm fine. And you? And they'll say they're fine, then avoid him for the rest of the time he's there. He prefers it that way. If they notice the fog that fills the aisles, they don't comment. If they hear Martin crying in the bathroom, they don't comment. If they notice the occasional college student going missing... well, they definitely don't come to Martin about it.
To say that Martin is still living, despite it all, would be a bit of a stretch. He more shambles from place to place, vacant eyed and zombie-ish. Sending people to the Tundra at least makes him less hungry, though there is an ache in his gut that no amount of feeding will ever fill.
At night, he yearns for the warm weight that Jon provided as they slept. He would always end up right on top of Martin, head on his chest, arms wrapped around him. Martin buys weighted blankets to try and imitate it, but it's crude at best. Nothing could ever replace the gentle breathing rustling his shirt, the hair weight of his locs laid over his chest, the gentle removal of glasses to be placed on the bedside table.
Martin gathers the blankets up to his chin, and he weeps.
//
After six months, and a few furniture purchases, Martin comes home to a tape recorder on his coffee table.
His blood runs cold at the sight of it. He thought he was done with tapes. He thought that they would stop showing up in this universe. He thought he would never have to hear the whirr of a cassette ever again. Yet, here it is. A plastic box on his table, next to his poetry notebook.
It takes about an hour of staring at it before he actually clicks it on. When he does, he almost covers his ears before it actually starts to play. It buzzes for a moment, then another click plays through the speaker, and the air fills with rustling fabric. A sigh.
"Martin?" a voice whispers. Martin's heart stutters as he places it immediately. Jon. Jon's voice. "Martin, are you awake?"
A sleepy grumble. "I am now."
"Sorry, just... did you know, oranges aren't naturally occurring fruits?"
"What...?"
"They're a hybrid of a pomelo and a mandarin."
A pause. A rustle.
"Jon," his own voice says. "Why are you telling me this at two in the morning?"
"I'm having one of those moments."
"Moments?"
"The Eye keeps telling me fun facts, and I simply can't help it."
There's a warble of laughter through Jon's words, and Martin can't help but smile at the sound. He hasn't heard that laugh in so long. Even before he died, it had been a long while since Jon had laughed about anything. He can't remember what it was...
"And this can't wait till we wake up properly?"
"Some cats are allergic to humans."
"Jon..."
"New York was named New Orange for a while in 1673, after William III of Orange."
"Jon."
"The man who invented the frisbee had his ashes turned into a frisbee."
"Jon."
Jon falls into laughter. More fabric shuffles about and it becomes muffled. Martin laughs as well. Martin, listening, feels tears dripping down his cheeks.
"Sorry," Jon says, taking a breath. "I'll let you sleep now. Stop burdening you with my- my fun facts. How dare I want to tell my boyfriend interesting things."
"Boyfriend, huh?"
Martin suddenly remembers this moment. The first time they'd ever put a label on it.
"Is- is that alright?" Jon had asked, looking up at Martin almost timidly. Even in the dimly lit room, Martin could see his wide, nervous eyes.
"Of course it's alright," Martin had said back, and he kissed Jon's forehead, then his lips. Jon curled further around him, pressing into him as much as he physically could, and sighed against his lips. When Martin pulled back, he said: "Maybe just wait till morning to tell me more fun facts."
"Fine."
Martin had smiled, and Jon had too.
The tape clicking off breaks Martin out of his memories. He sobs with his chest as he gathers the recorder up in his arms. He holds it close, under his chin. This is what he has left of Jon. A tape recording he never knew existed, somehow in his living room.
Martin cries so loud it probably disturbs the neighbours, fog encompassing his flat, leaving his skin feeling damp and clammy. His shoulders shake with sobs, the plastic creaking under his tight grip.
A hand gently touches his back, between his shoulders.
He gasps, head snapping up as the fog blows away. There's no one there. No one behind him or beside him. Yet, a warm handprint burns into his skin.
The feeling doesn't disappear for hours.
//
Martin feels it again a week later.
He's in bed, because he finally got around to buying a damn bed instead of sleeping on the couch, staring at his ceiling. The room is cold. He has twk weighted blankets on top of him, and he's still cold. It's still not enough. It doesn't feel like him.
Tears have frozen into ice crystals on his lashes, making it painful to blink. He can barely feet his hands, his feet. He feels separate from his body. Like he's hovering a few feet outside of it. The most has made his flat smell damp, and musty. It's moments like these—laying on his back, barely conscious, barely even alive—that he kind of wishes Annabelle had kept in touch. At least she would be someone from Before. Something recognisable.
It's then that a pair of arms encompass him. They're warm. Hot. Like the heat coming off of a fresh burn. It lays along his side, tucked into his shoulder. His mind flashes back to days in the cottage, in Upton House, with Jon clinging to his side like a koala. He can feel his face thawing, from the phantom space heater that has taken up residence in his bed.
Martin doesn't want to look. If this is all in his head, he doesn't want to know, because then it might all go away. He might be completely delusional, but he closes his eyes anyway, and falls asleep faster than he has in months.
He wakes up to a cup of tea waiting for him on his bedside table. He doesn't drink it.
//
The next week, he has a nightmare.
Martin's never experienced sleep paralysis before, but he thinks this might be what it is. He feels asleep, head still stuck in the haze of half-consciousness, but he opens his eyes anyway. There's a vague light in his bedroom. Not bright enough to hurt his bleary eyes, but enough to be noticeable. He blinks a few times before he manages to squint and make out the source.
There's a figure at the end of his bed. He's tall. Baggy clothes. Dark, greying locs hang down over his shoulders. Six emerald green and gold flecked eyes sit on his face; two in their proper place, and two above and below. His shirt has a rip down the centre, revealing a gaping wound still leaking blood. It falls out in almost black blobs, but never reaches the ground. It floats away, almost.
"Martin," the figure gurgles, and more blood drips over his lips, also falling away into nothingness.
Martin passes out. Or falls back asleep. Either way, what a fucked up nightmare. Because that's all it was. A nightmare.
The next morning, before work, he listens to the tape again. His coworkers don't notice his red, puffy eyes.
When he gets home, a cup of tea sits on his coffee table. He doesn't drink it.
//
There's another cup of tea on Martin's bedside table. Martin did not make tea. When he finally takes a sip of the Mystery Tea, probably against his better judgement, it's just how he likes it. Regular old Earl Grey with a splash of milk and two sugars.
He brings it out with him to the living room as he drinks it. There, behind the couch, stands Jon.
His hands and legs are a little see through. His extra eyes blink out of time with his regular ones. He's letting out a constant stream of blood and ink. Stained, transparent hands wring together, fiddle with the ends of his locs.
"Made you," he starts, then chokes on his own blood. He clears his throat, then he finishes: "Tea."
So, Martin has started seeing things. He's gone completely crazy and started hallucinating his dead boyfriend. That's what's happening. Except, hallucinating doesn't often involve cups of tea appearing at his bedside.
"Okay," Martin sighs, scrubbing his face with one hand. "Okay. Okay. Ghosts?"
"Think so," Jon barely manages.
They sit together on the couch. Martin sits at one end, and Jon at the other, and he can feel a sharp heat radiating off of the ghost. Perhaps heat isn't the right word—it's more like the air of a fever. Jon creates a radiance like a stover around himself, in a way that is so painfully familiar, it makes his head hurt.
Martin stares at the chest wound. Jon's shaky hands pull his cardigan over it. His lip trembles for a moment as he figures out what to say. Is there anything to say? He takes a deep inhale; the air smells of copper. He wants to say so much. He wants to scream at him, ask him how dare he do that to him? How dare he leave him and then just show back up, making him tea? He wants to hold Jon close and never let go, never leave this flat, if it means he will be beside him forever. He wants to shake him by the shoulders and call him an idiot and kiss him absolutely silly and—
Jon starts before Martin can get his mouth to cooperate with his brain.
"Missed you," is all he gets out through the mouthful of ink. He swallows. Grimaces at the taste. "Love you... I'm sorry."
Martin crumples.
His head tips forward and he starts to cry, for what might very well be the millionth time that week, and he tugs Jon's half-there form towards him. His hands, surprisingly, don't go through him. Jon shifts until his legs are flung over Martin's lap, and they hold each other. He's boiling hot, even through the layers, and Martin doesn't care. There's an odd noise in his ear, and it takes him a moment to realise that Jon is crying as well.
Martin calls in sick to work. He and Jon hold each other for hours.
//
Having a ghost for a boyfriend is surprisingly easy to get used to. They can't really kiss—Martin's mouth just gets filled with copper and it burns his tongue—but they spend almost every hour curled up on the couch. They watch movies and TV shows, some that they've already seen from their world, but with different casts and slightly worse plots. Jon makes Martin tea every day. He can't pick up books anymore, seems only able to interact with Martin and the ingredients for tea, so Martin reads to him. (Jon is very happy that the Eye can't tell him the plot anymore.)
Martin sleeps much easier with Jon on top of him. Sure, Jon doesn't exactly sleep, but he does lay on Martin's front and close his eyes. Martin sets up an audio book for him to listen to at a low enough volume that he can still sleep, to make sure Jon doesn't get bored.
They give up trying to talk pretty quickly, instead taking up sign language. Jon's hands shake pretty badly, but it works. He still chokes on the blood, and every time, Martin feels a sharp stab of guilt, but he insists it's his own fault. That conversation is long, and difficult, and Martin is very glad it's over. Not to say they actually agreed on whose fault it is, if it's anyone's at all, but they both privately blame themselves while outwardly deciding that it's a topic best moved on from. What's done is done, and there's no point squabbling about it.
And so, Martin enjoys this thing that he thinks is close to domestic bliss, and he lets Jon take care of him. Jon makes him go on walks, convinces him to start actually talking to his coworkers, somehow manages to get him to get back in touch with Annabelle to the point where they could even be considered friends. It's nice, in a way that Martin hadn't even thought he'd felt. Unconventional, obviously, but... nice.
Annabelle can see Jon as well, which at least means Martin hasn't completely fallen off the deep end. He thought Jon would hate her, after everything, but it seems she's not so bad once you've stopped being apart of her schemes. She visits often; she seems just as excited about having a friend, herself.
With Jon lazing against his side and Annabelle telling them about a play she saw and how it's significantly better than their old world's version, Martin thinks, for the first time: maybe this universe isn't all that bad.

now you. gimme your Jonah headcanons. I am going to eat them.
HAHHSAHHAHA YES HEHDFJKFJWJ
- genderfluid but never bothered to actually get into All That because it's "only a problem sometimes". until binary transwoman elias bouchard caught his attention. honestly getting gender envy from someone and just possessing them about it is kind of funny to me
- this thing can fit so much species dysphoria in it
- serial substance abuser. he mostly picks people who already have pre-existing addictions so he has an excuse, but honestly he will use anything that numbs the constant overwhelming flow of information that comes with being an eye avatar
- amblyopia in his left eye. never got the proper treatment for it as a kid, so now he has to do those stupid little exercises where you cover your dominant eye with an eye patch.
- less of a headcanon and more of an interpretation i guess, but i think a lot of his character can be explained by the fact that he was born during the industrial revolution. he knew the world was going to end, and he wanted it to end on his terms.
- already made a seperate post about this but i like the idea that his eyes get dirty slowly so he has to clean them up consistantly.
- just super weird and kind of horny about most of the other fears in general.
- somewhat related, i think the way the watcher's crown functions is also a representation of how jonah magnus feeds all the other fears as well. i've already made far too many posts about how all eye avatars basically have secondary alignments (gertrude: spiral/lonely, jon: end) and jonah has like So Many and i have my explanations for all of them (stranger's kind of obvious. something non-human inside a human body. but the one that i personally came up with was corruption, since he's essentially a parasite)
- lost basically all control over his own body during the watcher's crown. he didn't need anything except the eye to survive at that point, so all that time, he was just kind of in the panopticon as all information within the known universe flowed through him like light through a pupil. sometimes he'd just faint and keep reciting the statements anyways. it was, like jon said, agonizing bliss.
- fuck i need more lighthearted ones uhh. when he gets angry and/or embarrassed, his ears going red is always the first sign. somehow this manages to happen in every single body he possesses.
- also his eyes go bloodshot like very very easily. but the blood is just a bit darker than it's supposed to be.
- prominent dimples. again, in every body. he probably specifically uses that as criteria to decide wether he's gonna possess someone or not. just to keep one trait consistant.
uhhjj i probably have more but most of them are obvious if you look at like one or two of my tma posts lmao. anyways thank you for asking teehee

Jon re-ends the world. Destroys most of it, really, after he consumes the entities/becomes them/Becomes. Then he rebuilds. He intends to make the people he cares for happy, which includes himself, so he does not bring Peter Lukas back. Martin's mother does not get sick, and she is good enough. Mary Keay unexpectedly dies during the birth of her son, and Eric Delano raises him. Michael Shelley and Helen Richardson remain themselves, untwisted. He makes many changes, but mostly keeps things the same.
As for himself, he creates a hidden place. Hidden from ordinary eyes, anyways; he can See everything now.
This place he creates is a field, and a forest, with a river in it. It's nice. He relaxes, Knowing nothing will sneak up on him, Knowing nothing unexpected will ever happen again. He Knows everything, and everything is as it should be.
Well.
There is one problem, he thinks, curled up on his 'bed', a mostly flat area of the cave he deigns as his home, covered in created furs and blankets and long scrawls of paper that he summons when he sleeps and cannot suppress the instinct to write down everything.
He has no anchors. This has rendered him some sort of beast-thing, solid to the touch but rendered out of infinitely dark ink, all fur, antlers, strong paws and sharp claws and fangs, and Eyes like storms and fires and death and webs, on him and around him. One night (one of the 3.675 hours of sleep he has gotten since he reincarnated himself), he was startled awake by a sudden sound, and had opened every Eye he had, giving himself a painful migraine for what was just a branch falling from a tree during high winds.
There are very few solutions to this problem. Martin is not the Martin he knew, and besides he does not want to drag him into this. Nobody on this Earth has been touched by the Fears, and if he can help it, nobody ever will be. Passive fear of being watched and spiders and death is more than enough for him. He would love a statement, but nobody alive remembers enough to give him one.
Of course, there is always Jonah.
Jon has Known since he began reshaping the world that Jonah would not be bested by his efforts to remove the memories of the apocalypse. Besides, he much prefers a world without Jonah in it (and when the parts of himself that are very firmly Beholding and Archives tell him this is a Lie, he vehemently refuses it.)
Although, for all he'd done to Jon, he also Knows that Jonah would be the only one who could truly understand him.
Those are his second and third problems with finding someone he used to know and asking them to help him. They would never understand; and they would not be Jonah. They wouldn't be the Pupil, the Heart - arguably Jon's Heart now that he's also the Eye. That thought in particular both calms him and furthers the storm in his mind.
He Knows he needs an anchor, much as he tries to deny it. He doesn't know how to handle this much power, and every day he grows more unstable, his internal Archive growing disorganised and himself unstable. Jonah - even if Jon only talks to him once, to gain this information, even if Jon kills him again after - Jonah is the only one who can tell him. Jonah made him, even if he didn't make him this. Jonah is the only one.
Ultimately he/the Eye/the Archive lasts a month and a half without him.
On the edges of the forest he situates a cabin. He doesn't care about how there is electricity or running water or heating; he orders it to be so, and it is.
Then he presses into his/the Eye's memory and Looks for Jonah. Every single scrap he can find, coalescing it into a concept, and turning this concept into a mindscape, and he/the Flesh creates a body for this mindscape, and he puts the concept/mindscape/body/Jonah in the living room, lying on the sofa, and he waits. Observes.
Jonah (and it is Jonah, Jon made sure to give him his original body) is asleep, at first. This is fine. Jon can tell the body he/the Flesh made is alive. Heart beats. Breathing, rhythmic, calm. Muscle twitch, reflexive. Neuron fires once, twice, millions, as the concept/mindscape/Jonah settles into his new body, becomes familiar. Chemical flickers, transports. Anxious, confused, groggy. Awake. Hands, arms, tense, sitting up. Jonah blinks, and rubs his eyes, and says "Jon?"
Jon doesn't stop Looking, because he doesn't see a reason to, but he stands and begins to make his way towards the cottage before remembering that he can simply Lie to the world, tell it he is already there, and make that True. He stands on his hind legs, uncomfortable, pushes open the front door, pun in that.
Jonah startles. Confused, curious at his Archive's new form, anxious, did he die, did Jon kill him?
"Yes." Jon says from a tape recorder on the table. There is no point clarifying Jonah's question; they both Know.
Jonah attempts to push into his mind. Jon stops him, effortless. He does not explain that there is far too much information for him to handle, far too much information for Jon, does not explain that he needs Jonah's help. Jonah doesn't ask. Jon approaches him.
Chemical fire. Sympathetic nervous system activates, fight or flight, as Jonah notices Jon's teeth. Jon smiles, although it mostly looks like he/the Hunt is baring his teeth, ready for a fight. Muscles tense. Heartrate increases. Breathing speeds up. Jon does not stop approaching. Jonah does not ask him to; he wants to, Jon Knows this without even trying, but he does not.
Jon climbs onto the sofa and carefully places his head on Jonah's lap. Mostly soft fabric against his cheek. The Heart blinks a little, surprise, confusion. Chemical response; endorphin release, feels like fondness. Likens Jon to a cat. Jon laughs; Jonah is "privately" amused. Jonah moves his hand down to pet him.
The moment they make skin on skin contact Jon's mind goes completely silent. He doesn't know how Jonah's done that, and isn't sure he needs to right now.
"Oh," he says, from the tape recorder still. And then "oh," again, quieter, now that he has the space to feel relief, feel the migraine he didn't realise he had fading.
There is no more rapid information intake, no more constant attempts to discard useless information and primarily failing due to his purpose/existence as the Archive/the Beholding. Jon does not Notice the way he begins purring, the way his tail begins flicking in a happy way, the way Jonah is even more fond of him for all of these things. He observes them, independent from his nature as the Archive, and catalogues them easily. He sighs, relaxes. Jonah kisses him on the forehead and it's so soft, so affectionate, that Jon doesn't even notice that that's what he did, simply cataloguing it away with everything else until a couple seconds after the fact. He frowns, a little.
"You need to relax, Jon. It's okay. You've done very well for us."
It is so nice to be told that. Jon whines in the back of his throat. Something feels painful. His stomach? He briefly checks but no, his body is fine. Jonah laughs, and wipes away Jon's unnoticed tears, not necessarily joy or sadness, just emotion. Then, almost polite in the way he sticks to the edges of Jon's frayed and tired mind/Archive, informs him that his tears look like streams of stars.
Jon shifts so that he can bury his face into Jonah's chest. He catalogues it all; the way the fabric feels against his face, the way that Jonah smells, the way his hands run through Jon's fur, the way Jonah smiles, the way that Jonah presses their foreheads together so that he can give full clarity to the Knowledge that Jonah is so, so proud of him. Jon sobs.
"I killed you," he whispers. His voice is hoarse with tears and static.
"I know." Jonah says, and there is fear in that, and Jon takes it without really thinking. Jonah seems happy about it, though. "But you brought me back."
"I-" Jon doesn't want to admit it. He really doesn't. Jonah doesn't make him say it, either, doesn't Look in Jon's internal Archive for it. He just waits. "I needed you."
"Why?" Jonah says, quiet and gentle. It's not cruel, not asked to push Jon, and it soothes Jon's tears. Jonah genuinely doesn't understand why Jon would need him, now that Jon is Truly all powerful. It is a rare moment, and Jon takes a moment to Archive it properly.
"You're the only one who understands me. The-" Jon takes a deep breath, not wanting to start crying again. "Nobody I knew, before, would've wanted me, like this. But, you…"
Jonah doesn't say anything. He just keeps petting Jon, and it is quiet, a cool balm to his exhausted mind after the storm that was Knowing everything. Jon closes his eyes, and his Eyes, and finally, finally falls asleep.
(When Jon wakes up, he is in bed. He opens some Eyes and finds Jonah in the kitchen, making breakfast, humming a song Jon could identify but doesn't. When he checks his Archives for any pertinent information from his dreams, he instead finds some well filed Information, detailing how, exactly, he should get used to Seeing everything, and some hypotheses on how, if he intends to, to return to his human form.
"Thank you." he says from a tape recorder spawned onto the kitchen side. Jonah smiles.
"I love you too, Jon," all gentle and fond. Jon doesn't bother examining what it means that Jonah has responded with that, as though there's any need, as though they don't both already Know, as though Jon won't keep ignoring it and Jonah won't keep making him confront it. He just closes his Eyes and goes back to sleep.)

Predictions/theories for The Magnus Protocol:
Alex will probably be playing Martin, but Jonny will probably not be playing Jon, at least not as we knew him. It was outright stated that without the Eye's influence, there might be little of Jon left, and when he took over as Pupil of the Eye he was clearly struggling to retain his personhood, so I can see Martin pulling some Last Centurion shit over the babbling body that used to be his boyfriend. Maybe we get Jon back, maybe Martin will be forced to let him go to save the world, but I doubt it will be just Martin and Jon right from the start.
The most obvious answer to the other redacted name would be Jonah Magnus, but I feel like that's too obvious? It's definitely got to be someone we know, but since this is an alternate universe, the options are huge. I'm not sure how it would work with the timeline, but I think Raymond Fielding is a good possibility. If something happened so Agnes didn't kill him, a major Web avatar being on the board just makes sense. (I might double check the timeline on this and come back to it, but that's my thought for now. It honestly could be anyone. I saw someone half jokingly say Leitner, which would be HILARIOUS, but unlikely.)
I really hope I'm wrong, but I doubt Bonzo/Bonzoland will have as much plot significance as the ARG made it seem. I think that was just a fun spooky thing for people to discover.
I think Gwendolyn Bouchard is probably a cousin of Elias, and I also think she's probably not a bad guy? That feels too obvious, plus, we don't actually have any reason to think the Bouchards are like the Lukas family or anything. The only one of them who might have had a tie to the Eye before Elias joined the Institute is his father. I think she's probably trying to figure out what happened to Elias, or maybe she even knows and is trying to stop it from happening to anyone else. I think she'll be an ally to the main characters, and a way to get to know more of the real Elias.
This is more of something I think would be interesting than something I think there's a strong chance of, but assuming we're correct about the spreadsheet with the children's names on it being from the Institute, and assuming 'Gerard Kaey' from the spreadsheet is Gerard Keay from TMA, I think it would be deliciously tragic if Gerry was taken from Mary (or she died, or was otherwise not the person raising him) and he was raised by Eric instead. We know he worked for the Institute, and honestly, the idea that Gerry got to be raised by the parent fandom has widely agreed was better, only to have a life that is just as bad or worse, really intrigues me.

Lmfao @ tmau: There must be a bit of an adjustment period for the strange new things that keep happening around the bosses since they got back. Emmet just shows up to work like a zombie out of the floor sometimes. How does boss Ingo seem to always be in the other room when we need him/ gossip about him?? I didn't even know we had a room there. I swear that room was not there before.
Also. Apocalypse ds. How did that pan out for Jon and the crew?
Yup! There's a bunch of stuff that the commuters, challengers and staff all need to get used to shdjd for example, Curio and I made it canon that Ingo eats paperwork if he's not paying attention, as a reference to a fic we both read!
Cameron: hey if you have a moment I'd really appreciate your feedback on this form,
Ingo, not paying attention: [eats the form]
Cameron:
Cameron: hey Ingo could you check out this other form too,
To keep things even Emmet gets to have dirt snacks. As a treat <3
And YEAHDJDJ Ingo just always being in the perfect place (for him)
Isadore voice guys I think Ingo has been gaslighting me, I don't know how he's doing it but he is
Ingo peeking around a doorway that definitely was never there before: what?
Isadore: HW-
And godd the idea of Emmet just rising up like a classic horror movie zombie in their office is SO funny
But yeah to be clear, despite the joking around it's not. Good. And the only ones who know how bad it really is are Ingo, Emmet, and their victims
And the apocalypse ds
Tumblr media
[image id: an edit of a cat's face that has been heavily edited. The eyes are edited onto the ears, and nose and mouth are both vastly larger, taking up the majority of the face and giving it a big ol dopey smile. A few heart emojis surround it. End id]
Gonna be so real we haven't developed this as much as everything else, except we definitely know that there's just a beat up old ds cartridge spinning at the center of it all. Honestly maybe it's still kiiind of the eye reigning over everything, since it's Jon's game?
Ingo and Emmet do get domains btw :3c which becomes plot relevant later on in the story
@curiositykilledtheradiostar is there anything else we developed about the apocalypse that I forgot about?
Actually also. Wouldn't it be so funny if the equivalent for the pupil were just. Someone playing the game. To be king of a ruined world you've gotta give in and become a gamer, Jonah 😤

MAG 194 Relisten
Activity on my first listen: mowing the lawn.
YouTube must be so happy now. It tried to recommend this episode to me for weeks now and finally I'm going to click it...
MARTIN: "Alright. Alright, we’ll, we’ll go back to the tunnels, regroup, figure out what our next move is. See what other options there are." JON: "… Yeah… Yeah." MARTIN: "Jon? … [Warning] Jon?" Martin is so scared already... He knows something is up...
JON: "That place, the centre of The Eye, i-it’s… It wasn’t made for him. That’s why he’s like that, it’s too much, it’s overwhelmed him, his whole being, just destroyed." MARTIN: "Oh yeah? But let me guess, it was made for you?" JON: "Yes." MARTIN: [Petulantly] "Of course it is. Of course it is! Because how could this journey possibly end with anything less than the final, supreme destiny of the Archivist, plugged into the great fear machine for all eternity and, and abandoning humanity." That's what I meant last episode when I said Martin will summarize this perfectly. It's such an understandable reaction.
MARTIN: "Breaking his promise." JON: "That’s not fair!" MARTIN: "Isn’t it?" Nah, Martin's right on this one. They took one look at the Panopticon, they haven't even looked for another solution yet and Jon already wants to become the Pupil of the Eye. But it is also so Jon of him. He always rashly jumped to conclusions and decisions when he was under a lot of stress. That plus his martyr complex...
MARTIN: "And what? Replace them with new avatars from the people who don’t want to?" JON: "I mean, that has to be better than those that chose it right?" Riiiight, just like Jon chose to become the Archivist, or Oliver chose to become an Avatar of the End, or Agnes chose to be the Messiah of the Desolation. There are probably a lot of watchers out there who didn't want this either. Sure, there was always something there, which attracted on of the entities. But being nosy and curious is not the same as watching over a hellscape where people suffer for eternity.
JON: "Sure I can’t make it “go away”, but I could at least make it fairer. The Eye doesn’t care, as long as it gets its fear, it’s happy either way." [MARTIN SCOFFS AT THIS JUSTIFICATION] MARTIN: [Incredulous] "Christ, can you hear yourself? “Make it fairer!” It’s not enough that you’re the ‘all-powerful Archivist’, you also have to appoint yourself the literal judge of everyone as well?" Yeah, that's problematic. I always have to think back to MAG 155, I fucking love that statement. The dilemma of deciding about people's fate and by what criteria you would go.
JON: "Don’t." MARTIN: "I know what it’s like to be powerless. A-And I know you do too. And I also know what it’s like when you get a taste of– wh-when you’re finally able to–" JON: "That’s not what this is!" That gets Martin to reel back a bit. He's been so panicked and angry that he didn't get through to Jon. Now he did, in a way. And yeah, what Martin says absolutely makes sense.
MARTIN: "I’ve been out there with you. I saw the kick you got out of making them scream for once." JON: "What happened to “Kill Bill”?" MARTIN: "You weren’t meant to enjoy it this much!" Ohhh, Martin shooting himself in the foot with this one. Jon's right, Martin pushed him to do it. And it was Jon, who ultimately put an end to their vendetta.
JON: "Why won’t you believe me when I say that this isn’t something I want to do?" MARTIN: "Because I saw your face when we walked into that room! [Despondent] That wasn’t fear, it, it wasn’t even anger. It was envy. And it scared me more than anything else I’ve seen." JON: "… Martin…" Jon's not denying it... He saw how scared and hurt Martin is and doesn't know what to say anymore.
JON: "What other choice do we have?" MARTIN: "I-I don’t know, alright! I do– But there is one. Because there has to be." JON: "But what if there isn’t? How long are we going to wander around hopelessly searching before we end up back here anyway?" Longer than 5 minutes would be a good start. It is ridiculous, they're been up there for not even an hour, that's not enough. That's not trying.
JON: "We can’t just dismiss this. It might be our only option." MARTIN: "… No." JON: "No?" MARTIN: "No. I forbid it." JON: [Incredulous] "You forbid it?" MARTIN: "Don’t laugh at me." JON: "Why not? You’re being ridiculous." I'd be crying so hard by now, but I'm an angry-crier, so hm... It still is so extremely hurtful.
MARTIN: "I refuse to accept that this –" JON: "Tough! The world doesn’t care what you accept. It just… is! It just is." Ahh, there it is! Out of the two I totally wouldn't have suspected Jon to be the angry-crier. I think that actually is their worst fight by a long shot even. And it is so well written, it feels so real! Bouncing around from being scared, not getting through, not being taken seriously...
MARTIN: "Stupid… Stupid, arrogant…" I mean, Martin should have known that Jon can be stupid and arrogant xD
MARTIN: "[Calling] Jon? J– … Shit." Hmm, what was that about? Martin processing what just happened on high speed and already coming to the conclusion that splitting up right now is a bad idea?
JON: " You don’t even have a mind, not really." ¬‿¬ Not really!
There's a dating site in that statement and we already know from What The Ghost that dating sites are the Eye, but I cannot help but find it funny that elderly persons are also the Eye XD That stereotype of old people sitting in their rocking chair out on the front porch to judge everyone in their sight xD (That's a very american picture, but we have those people in Europe as well. Here they sit on the front balcony for example.)
"Gingerly, he unbuttoned his shirt, sliding the rough fabric down his torso, and examined the shining protrusion. Some sort of callous? A tumour? Malcolm’s mind began running frantically through all the worst-case possibilities. And then… [FLESHY SOUND OF OPENING] it opened. The iris was dull grey, surrounded by yellowed, bloodshot tissue, and the pupil was dull, almost cloudy, but the eye staring out from his shoulder seemed to focus well enough." Oh god, the body horror of this statement is so fucked up...
JON: "Not exactly subtle. But then you never were, were you? Not really." Not really, yaaaaaaaaay!
JON: "If that’s the most compelling argument you have… [Smiles] I’m going to go apologise to my boyfriend." Can someone pls again explain to me, if this statement can somehow be read as something similar to their situation (because of the "not subtle" and "if that's the most compelling argument you have") and if yes, what it is? Is it about Jon wanting to get rid of Jonah, but it wouldn't do anything? Also that tone of "I’m going to go apologise to my boyfriend." and that little breathy chuckle at the end. Already said it in MAG 187, I think he likes the sound of that.
JON: [Very quietly] "Where are you, Martin… Don’t try and do this to me. Not now." I love their relationship so much...
MELANIE: "Not yet. But then she needs to actually go places to look at them. She can’t just pop up top and check ‘the big picture’." JON: "Melanie, please, not now." MELANIE: "… Sorry." Ahhh, at least she immediately gets that this is serious and Jon is actually really, really scared and can't put up with Melanie-humor right now...
JON: "This is my fault." MELANIE: "What?" JON: "We… We had an argument. I said some things I shouldn’t have. If, if I hadn’t we would have come back here together, and I-I’d have been there to stop her taking him." Aaaaand the old guilt machine is running again...
JON: "I mean, he wouldn’t have gone willingly! Would he?" Martin, who desperately wants another option, one which saves Jon, suddenly gets a visit by Annabelle, an Avatar of the Web and Jon thinks Annabelle would have had to resort to violence to drag Martin with her?
MELANIE: "Right. Fine. So… we do this the old fashioned way." JON: [QUIETLY] "What?" MELANIE: "Why would she take him? Uh, do they have any history?" MVP Melanie here, we have to give her that! Keeping a clear head, working through it one by one.
MELANIE: "For god’s sake! Pull your head out of your arse, stop trying to use it as a bloody antenna, and actually try thinking!" JON: "Just listen, Melanie. I – argh!" [THE ARCHIVIST IS STRUCK, NOT WITH A REVELATION BUT MELANIE’S CANE] MELANIE: "Think!" JON: "Ow… I don’t know! Somewhere she’d be strong! A, a place of power, a, a Web domain…" First of all, that fan transcript xD Second, anyone else got that scene from The Lion King in their head, when Rafiki strikes Simba with his staff when he's trying to get him to work something out?
JON: [Realising] "Oh god…" MELANIE: "What?" JON: "They’re going to Hill Top Road." Every episode ending with a cliff hanger now^^

wicked words | chapter 2 | teaser
For @snowxstormworld Jonerys Summer Lovin 2k22 Day 4: Historical, I had planned to post chapter 2 of the fic but sadly life got in the way and it isn’t done yet. I also had a very bad day which ended in a scary moment where I thought I was going to die (no exaggeration here, this is the US, there’s crazy loose cannons everywhere) and almost forgot entirely but here’s a teaser. Sorry that was long winded but I’m still trying to distract my mind.
Dany went to a massive trunk against the foot of the bed, kneeling and unclasping the buckles. He shivered. They needed a fire. He shook off his sodden overcoat and draped it on a chair to dry, moving to kneel in front of the hearth. He tried not to think about Dany moving around behind him, about how they’d need to take off their wet clothes or they’d catch a cold.
He swallowed hard, his cold, numb fingers fumbling with the flint from his pocket. It was dry enough but took several tries until a spark caught on the kindling in the hearth. It went up in smoke and he swore. “This shit is too old.”
“I found some wood. Here.” He glanced over his shoulder. Dany was coming down from the loft, a couple logs in her arms. She sighed. “We should put it in the stove.”
“We need to get warm fast.”
“The stove will do that.”
“The hearth will.”
She dropped the wood at his feet with a loud clatter, throwing her arms in the air. “Fine! You do it then!” She began to jerk at her coat and the buttons on her blouse.
He froze. “What are you doing?”
“I’m taking off these wet garments. I’m freezing.”
“But…”
She stopped and smirked at him. “Relax Jon. The trunk there has blankets and some linens. Get the fire going.”
He felt stupid. He was on edge. He was acutely aware they were stuck in a tiny one room cottage with one bed, limited blankets, and were both soaking wet and in need of warmth. He swallowed hard, closing his eyes and willing his body to cooperate. He knelt at the fire again and fussed with dry straw, the wood, and the grate, until there was a crackling, roaring flame.
It warmed the small room quickly, but he was starting to shiver, his wet clothes kept on too long. He stood and tugged off his boots and pulled his shirt free of his trousers. He wasn’t thinking about decorum right now, he needed the sticking wet garment off. He draped it on the chair with his coat and hers, moving it towards the hearth to dry. It was still cold and he shivered again, figuring he’d wrap in a blanket. He’d have to figure what to do with his trousers once he had coverage.
Because the other option…well…he couldn’t think about it. He steeled himself and turned around. When he did, he caught Dany, who had an arm full of blankets from the trunk, watching him.
Well.
Well then indeed.
His lips twitched. He flashed a smile, gesturing to his bare chest. “See something you like?”
“No!”
Her cheeks might have been red from embarrassment, or the fire, or even the cold. Except her eyes were still focused on him and her pupils had dilated so wide he barely saw violet in them. He turned and walked towards her slowly, reaching to take a blanket from her. He intended to wrap it over his shoulders, wondering if she was thinking something else.
Neither one of them said anything; he heard her breath hitch, throat muscles cording in her slim neck. Her breasts rose and fell quickly against her bodice, the swells of them visible barely over top the loosened fabric. He dropped his gaze to her swollen red lips. She’d been biting them. She only did that when she was nervous.
“Dany,” he murmured. His fingers closed over the blankets.
She shook her head and dropped the blankets in her arms, unable to keep composed. His heart leaped up, strangling the breath from him. This was happening. “Shut up Jon,” she gasped, arms lunging up, grabbing the back of his head, fingers wrapping through damp tendrils of his hair, and pulled him against her.
For once, Jon abided her command, and shut up.

in the words of john mulaney, ice tea
(a magnus archives crackfic)
this. happened. i was having a flask of ice tea at work and this popped into my head. this is a lot of tim screaming dramatically, melanie being annoyed, and martin being a king. we are ignoring canon because this fic is primarily about how the magnus archives is an office comedy and here it is treated as such. they all work at the archives. elias is nowhere to be seen. jon has eye powers but is not in pain. it is used for comedy only. tim is happy. we are laughing. things are good.
________
“What the fuck, man.”
Tim places his hands on the back of Melanie’s chair and spins. She’s already flipping him off by the time they’re face to face.
“Leave me alone, Tim, heaven knows you have bigger things to worry about–Tim, are you high?”
“Your tea is cold,” Tim continues unperturbed, pupils dilated, “on purpose. I can see the frost.”
“You’re high at work,” Melanie counters, “and I was just trying to see what the Americans were on about. It’s suffocating down here anyway. You wear those stupid Hawaiian shirts, I drink iced tea.”
“There are some things better left undiscovered, oh, wait till I tell Martin–”
“Don’t tell Martin, this is so stupid, Tim–”
“MARTIN!”
“Tim, what the hell–”
But Tim has already snatched the flask of tea off Melanie’s desk and is halfway down the hall, hollering for Martin. Melanie catches up with him just as he kicks in the door of Martin’s office.
Martin knocks his chair over. “Tim! What’s the matter?”
Tim shoves the flask under Martin’s nose. “Melanie,” he gasps, out of breath, “was drinking iced tea.”
Martin blinks.
“It’s heresy,” Tim continues.
Silently, Martin takes the flask and unscrews the lid, glancing at Melanie for permission. She throws up her hands.
“You’re insane,” Tim whispers theatrically in Melanie’s direction.
Martin takes a sip. He takes another. “Blackberry tea in this?”
“Yeah. PG Tips, too.” Melanie looks like she is desperately keeping her fingers from Tim’s throat.
Martin grins. “It’s good.”
“WHAT??”
“A little sweet for me, but really delicious,” continues Martin serenely. “Good mix, Melanie.”
“Thank you.” One of Melanie’s rare smiles skirts the corners of her mouth.
Tim has both palms shoved against his eyes. “I want to erase this horrendous tragedy,” he says, voice muffled.
“Go take a nap, Tim.” Martin reaches out and pats Tim’s arm. “Go on.”
“Okay.” Palms still pressing grooves into his eyelids, Tim shuffles out. There is the sound of an office chair creaking in Tim’s office a couple doors down and a blood-and-thunder sigh. Then soft snoring.
Martin bursts into laughter, smile stretching from ear to ear. “He’s something when he’s high, yeah?”
“Yeah.” Melanie is grinning now. Martin’s laugh has that effect on people. “He’s damn annoying. But also pretty funny.”
Jon sticks his head in as Martin takes off his glasses to wipe his eyes. His hair is pulled back in a bun so messy he looks a little like he has spider legs sticking out around his face. The “Mum Life” mug in his hands (“because he’s got eyes in the back of his head,” Tim had giggled at the office Christmas party to a round of groans) has five soggy tea bags draped inside it.
“Was someone screaming?”
“Tim’s high,” Melanie and Martin chorus. Jon rolls his eyes.
“Can someone tell Basira to look for his stash again, please? This is becoming a problem.”
“She won’t be happy.”
“She will if it stops Tim from causing office drama. He was singing carols in her office yesterday at three in the afternoon. I think if I hadn’t walked by she’d have shot him.”
“I’ll ask,” Martin says, and gets a gentle smile from Jon.
“Thank you.”
“Did you get that statement recorded?”
“No.” Jon leans against the doorframe, looking exhausted as usual. “Tim swapped it out when I stepped out for tea an hour ago. It was total gibberish. What even is a ligma?”
Melanie suddenly gets very still. Martin chokes.
“You–he–Jon, it’s nothing–”
“I definitely have no idea–”
Jon heaves a huge sigh. “Another sex joke, then?”
Martin is two shades redder than he had been five seconds ago. Melanie manages to choke out a “yup”. Jon ages another three years.
“I should have known.” He shakes his mug in the general direction of the kitchen. “Don’t know why I even assume it’s anything else, now…”
Melanie releases the biggest wheezing laugh Martin has ever heard from her when Jon disappears around the corner.
“That’s even worse than when Jon asked what a dab was.”
“Basira,” Martin begins, already on the phone, “Yeah, hi, sorry, it’s about Tim’s stash again–”
“NOBODY TOUCH MY OFFICE,” hollers Tim from down the way, suddenly awake, and Martin can hear Jon groan, overstimulated. When Jon shuffles back by Martin’s office (was he still wearing house slippers? Did Jon sleep in the Archive?), he has a set dead look in his eyes.
“If the weed isn’t gone, I will start an apocalypse,” he drones, “also, I took another one of your teabags, hope that’s all right.”
“Course it is. Let me know if you need more.”
“Make sure to take Melanie with you if you go to the shop,” Jon calls over his shoulder, penguin-shuffling his way down the hall. “So she doesn’t kill Tim either.”
“What makes you think I’ll kill Tim?”
“He just stole the dates from your desk.”

Yet Another Missed Opportunity: Why Bryan Danielson should have been the one to cause chaos in BCC instead of William
(At least for a lil bit)
Sup hoes, I'm back with another ramble!
(*pets Bryan's head*) this is nothing against you boo this is against Khan yet again missing the obvious potential for a decent storyline involving BCC.
CW: betrayal, Anarchy at the Arena, Chris J*richo, M*xwell Jacob Friedman
LETS BEGIN.
Okay, so this is Bryan Danielson, right? Look at him.
Tumblr media
I think he's a lil neat
Bryan is not only one of the members of BCC, he's one of the three founding members. Him, William, and Jon.
Tumblr media
Ah the good old days before everything went to sh-
Now you're probably wondering. Why would Bryan "turn" on BCC? Arguably he's the most loyal member if the whole group, even going after M*xwell after he attacked William, even though William betrayed Jon?
Easy: Peer Pressure and Ego.
Let's circle back to when the group first formed, their first few matches. How William constantly sang Bryan's praises, calling him one of greatest wrestlers of this day and age, everything he wishes he was when he was still active, etc. Etc. Imagine hearing that everyday from someone you looked up to for not just years but decades. That's gotta put some pressure on you right? To always want to perform well, to be seen as a star pupil and a leader.
Let's talk about Bryan and Eddie Kingston
Tumblr media
Hi Eddiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeee, ily
Remember how much they hated each other? I mean , you can argue neither of them like anyone but they were constantly butting heads before Anarchy at the Arena. Almost like... what if Bryan saw Eddie as an interloper? What if he was resentful at Jon for having BCC help him, Santana and Ortiz? They could be going after tag gold or the AEW and FTW championships? Why were they devouring to help Eddie in his insane fued against the J*richo Appretion Society/JAS? (or as I like to call them: the No Bitches Brigade djsjejdu). Maybe, just a bit, he doesn't believe Jon is taking the group as seriously as he is.
And to him this group is part of his legacy. Of course people will remember Jon and William, but will they remember him after he finally retires?
Now let's add Bryan's relationships with Wheeler and Claudio into the mix.
To Bryan, Wheeler is beneath them. He may be their teammate, but he is not on their level. He is their pupil, not their equal. And then he slaps Wheeler the moment he shows that he has a mind of his own. He lost his cool. To him he believed he's been disrespected, that Wheelers being ungrateful. Hmm.
And Claudio? Oh, deep down he sees him as a rival. Of course he stands side by side with him but he kind of envies Claudio for how... effortless everything seems to be for him. He's Claudio Castignoli. Williams’s last (tv) opponent. He's one of ROH champions. Bryan still hasn't gained a title months after the group formed.... HMMMMM.
So how would it happen, and how long would it last?
I can't see Bryan being jealous if Jon being AEW champion, I think after AATA is when things begin to crumble. A combination of feeling guilty for being the one who got pinned/lost them the match and being mad they were ever in the match to begin with would cause him to spiral. He's losing his peers respect! He's losing his mentors respect! Of course, its all in his head. The boys still see Bryan as the American Dragon Jake Long and are worried about him. He's lashing out more, he's distant. He's opting out of tag matches, letting the other boys go instead.
And one day... maybe he does participate in a tag match he's at ringside for. Maybe it's after his argument with Wheeler. Maybe the argue a bit more during the match. Wheeler's on the mat, trying to reach Bryan...
And Bryan just jumps down from the mat, walking away from the ring. Letting him get pinned. The boys are confused. The crowd is confused.
He's confused.
Tumblr media
Bryan Does the Unthinkable: talks about his feelings!!!
He's confronted by Jon and William, Jon's pissed, Williams’s clearly confused and disappointed, and he justs...snaps. He pours put about how hard it is keeping up the guise that he's confident, how pissed he was that they had just formed the group and Jon was already involving them in shit that wasn't their business (even though Eddie is his bro tf was he supposed to do keep letting him get jumped?), all that stuff.
It's not so much of a turn as it is a confrontation, a discussion. William realizes how much pressure he's accidentally been putting on Bryan, Jon wonders if he only joined BCC to get Bryan off his back and to be taken more seriously be he and William. Wheeler wonders why he really turned on Best Friends and if he joined BCC to better himself or for glory. And Claudio? He becomes a bit distrustful of Bryan after learning how envious he gets of him.
Of course, in the end they all accept him back...but it opens up questions.
Now, why would this have been ideal rather than what went down between William, Jon, and MJF?
Personally, I think it would have added a lot of depth to not just him but everyone for him to be shown struggling with being a leader and keeping up his status as one of the best wrestlers in the company, even making his dynamic with William more nuanced instead of him just being a teacher's pet. And also...
(*deep breath*)
BECAUSE WILLIAM'S BETRAYAL MADE NO FUCKING SENSE
YOU'RE GONNA LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND TELL ME AFTER ALL THAT TIME HE SPENT IN NXT MATURING AND BEING A KIND AND RESPONSIBLE GM AND HELPING TO SHAPE THE NEXT GEN OF WRESTLERS IT MAKES SENSE TO THROW AWAY OVER A DECADE OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR ONE POORLY PUT TOGETHER MESS NOT EVEN WORTHY OF BEING CALLED A STORYLINE? FOR FUCKING MJF?! BULLSHIT.
And even if it was because of his fued with Dean in FCW (which Khan couldn't even begin to understand how complicated it was) that makes no fucking sense unless the goal was to have William and Jon fight one more time, considering the fact Dean only won because William was no longer able to compete! THE ONLY POSSIBLE-
(*deep breath*)
Anyway in conclusion that's why I think It should have been Bryan okie bye ♡♡

A look into the themes in TMA: addiction
This theme is explored most thoroughly through Jon's relationship towards the tapes. At the start of the first season, he is just reading them to organise the archives, and to provide a digital-ish version of some of the statements. Throughout the second and third seasons, we hear about how each statement slowly becomes not "enough" for him, and how he feels “unwell” if he does not read a statement for too long. Eventually, Jon begins to want more than just old statements that have been sitting in the archives, which leads to him asking people on the streets to give statements about their traumatic experiences to do with the supernatural. This only stops when the rest of the archive crew find out what's happening through a complaint made by one of his victims. This shows his slow descent into dependence on the statements for his liveliness, and perhaps even his life.
In the fifth season, this “addiction” to the statements continues through Jon and Martin’s trek through the fearscapes, manifesting in him having to tell the people suffering’s stories in the form of statements. When he’s in a blind spot, where the eye can’t see him, he starts having the withdrawal symptoms shown in previous seasons, except worse, now that he’s deeper in his addiction. This all leads to the final episode, where, in the logical line of events, from Jon starting to read statements, to him feeling unfulfilled after reading just one, to him giving in to temptation and using unethical methods to feed his growing addiction, to, through all of those events, gradually becoming dependent on them for wellbeing, and finally, at the very end, he chooses to continue the trend of all of his previous decisions by giving in to the eye, and becoming the pupil.
There is also a fun parallel between the eye addiction and the smoking addiction that a lot of the characters have, where one of the eye’s blindspots is in the tunnels underneath the institute, where it’s not safe to smoke, so the characters go outside of the blindspot to feed both addictions. Also, Jon has a mother of puppets themed lighter, which parallels how the mother of puppets also subtly encouraged his eye addiction throughout the series.
Another way The Magnus Archives shows this theme is through Daisy Tonner. When Daisy is introduced to the cast, she is already deep in her addiction to her own entity, the hunt. She has been using her position in the police force to provide victims to hunt, satiating her addiction. She is introduced at the start of the third season, throughout most of which, we see her usual hunting habits, and how she justifies it by only hunting the people that she believes to be deserving of it. She even tries to kill the archivist at one point, claiming that “he murdered two people [...] Maybe more” and how he is an inhuman monster because he can “pull your secrets out like teeth, just because he asked”, a claim that isn’t entirely untrue, but is still (in my opinion) not justification for murder. After the finale of season 3, Daisy is trapped in a coffin (that leads to an underground place that feeds on claustrophobia) for about 6 or so months, which is plenty of time for her to reflect on her actions throughout her life. After she gets out of the coffin, she decides to try to recover from her addiction to hunting and killing. In season 4, we hear about how Daisy gets closer to her friends, makes new friends, and sounds happier, but we also hear how the addiction is sticking, and how difficult it is for her to no longer hunt.
Sadly, at the end of the season, she has to hunt again, and this time, does not recover, leading Basira to kill Daisy, as she promised in a previous episode.

TMA Season 4+ spoilers!
Ok, so what if Martin never got out of the Lonely? Like, when Elias gave Jon the choice between killing him or saving Martin, Jon decided to kill Elias (for whatever reason: maybe Jon decided to believe Martin’s constant admissions that he would be fine and he had a plan. Maybe Jon thought he could go save Martin afterwards and that Elias was lying like he always did. Or maybe Jon just didn’t think and attacked Elias out of anger). It doesn’t matter why Jon did it, what matters is that now Martin is trapped in the lonely, Elias is dead and Jon killed him.
So what are the consequences of this? Well, we know from MAG 200 that when Jon kills Elias, he takes his position as the Pupil. So, I imagine that once Jon kills Elias, he takes his place as the Head of the Magnus Institute. A promotion of sorts, if you will. And, because of all the chaos that was going down when Jon confronted Elias (Trevor and Julia reappearing, Not!Sasha escaping), nobody can pin the blame on Jon in the aftermath. And, in becoming the Pupil, I’m just going to believe that Jon smites Not!Sasha out of anger (like in Season 5) and Trevor and Julia, who see this, freaks the fuck out and leaves, never to return to London again. Now all of the chaos has been dealt with (unintentionally on Jon’s part, but whatever, he gets the job done), so Jon doesn’t need to go to the safehouse. Also, I don’t know what happens with Daisy in this AU- maybe she somehow becomes human again, or maybe she goes on the loose and Basira has to chase after her. Regardless, Jon is the only one out of the archives crew left and, since Elias is a weird bastard, he had a rule that the Head Archivist would take his place as Head of the Magnus Institute if anything were to happen to him or his proxy head (I’m assuming Jonah knows that since the Archivist is eye aligned, they most likely won’t destroy the institute out of a need for statements, hence why, if all else fails, he places whoever the Archivist is at the time to be the next Head in a worst case scenario).
So now Jon is the new Head of the Magnus Institute, London. He’s gonna wear a green suit and become a dapper bastard like Elias.
But, pray do tell, what happens to Martin? Fear not, Martin is too much of a bad bitch to just straight up and die in the lonely. No, this man has been, in some way shape or form, lonely-adjacent all his life. He’s always been alone  (especially growing up with his mother). I think this could mean that Martin has actually harvested an affinity for the lonely and, when he gets stuck in the lonely, it manifests. After realizing that no, Jon won’t save him, Martin kinda... cracks. He Becomes and is now a fully fledged avatar of the lonely. Peter did NOT expect this, so when Martin Becomes he doesn’t really know how to act. And Martin, in the mist of Becoming and so consumed with anger and loneliness for being left behind again, he ends up unintentionally killing Peter. And, in killing Peter (like Jon did with Elias) Martin takes his place as the “main” avatar for the Lonely.
Why did I come up with all this, you might ask? Well, think of this:
Now we have Lonely Eyes the second generation! Hehehehe >:D

Okay before tma2 blows everyone's ideas to kingdom come, here are some Thoughts about Somewhere Else and how I reckon it would actually work based off what we know...
So the Fears make it through to other realities, that’s for sure, there’s no escape from the horror and tragedy they bring
However, they do not make it through unscathed. So, in the show’s setting this categorisation of 14/15 fears is a human framework, its an imagined structure designed to help the characters understand what they’re facing- but the Fears themselves don’t fall neatly into that structure- they mix and match, they cross boundaries, they can blur together
But the way the Fears emerged in the multiverse was through that finely woven web of tapes- a system deliberately designed to organise and delineate them. As a result, the Fears are now bound by this system, it is innate to them where it wasn’t before. Therefore, any fear/fright/dread that falls outside of those neat little boxes, or tiptoes along the borders no longer feeds them
Somewhere Else, the Fears are much, much weaker than they ever were before; they have no footholds in any of these realities and their means of feeding are severely restricted (sucks to be them ig)
as for jon and martin  specifically:
Jon died when martin stabbed him- but in that transition to the new world(s) when the eye realised (in so much as it can realise anything) that its power was being stripped from it and its one and only remaining avatar was dying, it pulled him away from the end just like after the unknowing
unlike the unknowing, jon is never comatose- the eye is too desperate and he only vaguely conscious so he again chooses to live (its not really a choice just like it wasn’t before but yk) and he wakes up covered in his own blood with a new scar on his chest
jon is still technically the Pupil of the Eye, but in a world where the beholding has no power that title means nothing (years down the line, he will joke that he feels like ‘one of those pricks that buys a lordship’)
any abilities/powers he still has are at the level of power he had in s1, almost non-existent and mostly unconscious
he could theoretically get more powerful/back to s4 levels if he fed the eye but he is so guilt-addled and so so careful to never let that happen
as a result he is physically weak/unwell for pretty much the rest of his life- in his weakest moments, he misses being the archivist, if only because he was able to live without pain.
Still, an upside is having a human appetite again (someday he will stop feeling bad for sating his normal hunger)
Martin actually spent more time in the hospital than jon after their initial arrival- he tried to shield him from the worst of the debris and broke his shoulder blade-needed some skin grafts too
the pull of the Lonely doesn’t reach him- not in any supernatural sense but his personal melancholy lingers and the white streaks never fade from his hair- the arm never heals quite right and he has chronic pain in that area for the rest of his life
they argue a lot, at the beginning- how could they not? both so convinced of their own rightness, of the other’s betrayal- stubborn down to their bones and so so hurt
they never come to an agreement, no concessions are made and barely any apologies- but as time and distance come between them and that instant, they make a decision to put those feelings down and carry on without them, as much as they can
a new life is hard, they know fear is around every corner, and building an existence where you never had one before is nigh-impossible, but they make it work
they choose love, and each other, over and over, just as they did at the top of that tower

So what is Joanna's story?
this ask got insanely long so i put it under the cut! but i hope you don’t mind the info dump eheheehe
Tumblr media
a simple explanation: it’s a story about betrayal, revenge, and love.
a more detailed explanation: josana lannister was raised to be tywin’s prized pupil. he took note of her sharp mind and cunning tongue at a young age, and wanted to exploit it, to transform her into his ultimate weapon. she was taught to be extremely well-read, to lie as easily as speaking the truth, and to manipulate her surroundings and the people beside her to achieve her goal by any means necessary. and josana in a quick leaner, easy to adapt to please her lord uncle to become a true lioness of the south. and when the time came to show her usefulness, josana did little to object.
tywin wants to control the world. he had cersei the queen of the seven kingdoms, planned to have jaime become the warden of the east after the death of jon arryn, and now, he would send his beloved niece to winterfell to wed ned stark’s eldest son to control the north. she is to marry robb stark, provide heirs, and raise them as lions rather than wolves. she is also to spy on the starks, to gather information and inform her uncle with anything of importance.
when she arrives in winterfell along with the king and her cousins, it initially starts out pretty well. she and robb get along well enough as they are newly betrothed and the rest of the starks like her enough to have conversations, but mainly sansa and bran ( bran bc josana’s younger brother is a knight of the kingsguard and he keeps begging her to tell him more since it’s his dream to become one as well ).
but her civil relationships with the starks dwindle away once everything happens between them and the lannisters. the wedding between her and robb keeps getting pushed back, she starts to receive pointed looks and rude remarks every where she turns, and she feels completely and utterly alone with no one to turn to except her lady-in-waiting, sarra snow, roose bolton’s bastard.
regardless, her circumstances don’t halt her from her schemes. she continues to send letters to her uncle, with the help of sarra so it’s less suspicious, and try her best to survive in a castle full of wolves. when robb calls the banners and means to march south, he takes josana with him on the campaign. a campaign is no place for a high-born lady, but robb would rather have eyes on her at all times than to have her remain in winterfell with his younger brothers.
in the campaign, josana feels trapped in a corner. and it only gets worse once they capture her cousin, jaime, and her family kills lord eddard stark. she can’t reach out to her uncle without anyone knowing, she can’t return back to casterly rock as she is now a prisoner in all but name, and the safety of a betrothal is now gone thanks to the alliance with house frey. it is truly rough out there for my girl.
but things slowly start to turn around now that josana has been with the starks for so long to have seen who they truly are: honorable, noble, and loyal. the starks could’ve had her shackled to a post and leave her to rot, but they didn’t. they could’ve left her to the hands of the north men to do with her as they please, but they didn’t. they showed her kindness as their hostage, something she knew her family would never do. and that plants the seed of doubt in josana’s allegiance. was her family as glorious and righteous as she remembered? or were they dishonorable, fearsome, and treacherous as everyone says they were?
ultimately, she becomes devoted to robb when she kills a lannister informant posed as a notherner. now, there are two reasons behind her killing him. 1.) because she no longer wants to be a spy for her uncle and doesn’t want to betray the starks anymore. 2.) survival. if this spy were to out her treason, her death would be imminent. so she had to choose: tywin or robb. and she chose the latter, which truly begins their romantic arc.
and what’s important to remember is that josana will never, ever, tell the truth about formally being a spy. it is important because it plays a HUGE factor into the rest of this story. she will have to live with that guilt and betrayal until the end of her days. and all actions have consequences in this story.
anyways, there’s so much more to this story, but i figured this ask is already long enough lol! if you’d like to know more, feel free to ask !!
