Oooh you want to know what bit of misinformation about Sonic that really upsets me? Nearly everything about Fleetway Super Sonic.

Fleetway Super Sonic isn't its own transformation, it's Fleetway comics take on Sonic's standard Super form and. Fleetway Super Sonic is never even called that in Sonic the Comic and is just called Super Sonic even when Super Sonic became a separate character than actual Sonic. However there is alot of people who say that Fleetway Super Sonic is basically the original Dark Super Sonic and even will have Super Sonic introduce himself as Fleetway is fics when he really shouldn't.

ohhh i was just thinking about this not too long ago . to be honest this is kinda a sonic fandom pet peeve of mine like yeah i understand calling him fleetway super sonic as a way of making it clear which super sonic youre talking about because stc's take on super sonic is very different from any other version of the transformation. but i see so many people talk about him as if fleetway is like. his in universe name ? when fleetway is just the name of the comic company ? ive never even read stc and i knew that. overall its harmless but it still makes me go Okay but thats not correct .

Serious question, but how do you think Andrew being taller-tall would affect plot and in what way. I always have hard time seeing him as this steady image of safety mainly because of his size.

I am an Andrew lover first and foremost so I accept him in every shape and size he may come in xd

Okay, but seriously now. I think him being taller would've definitely altered some points of the plot. The first thing that comes to mind is his relationship with Neil. Neil from the get-go makes us aware that due to his father's abuse, he is scared of not only older but taller men. They read as a threat. If Andrew was a big guy and had not the puppy dog personality of Matt, Neil would probably have a much harder time trusting him or opening up to him. Their relationship might've gone differently. All of Andrew's actions would've been interpreted with distrust, as they are anyway at the start, but the root would be in a much deeper fear.

I also think that's crucial for Andrews character. He is, as you said, seen by us as the image of safety - but that's Neil's opinion. that's how he sees him. Most people look down on him, only those who are keenly aware danger is not always about brute strenght don't make fun of the red flag he comes waving around in every situation. Neil or Riko aren't tall either, so they know what kind of things he can still be capable of without the proper moral limitations. Kevin, Jean and Renee will know that to, due to their experiences.

Still, most people don't see him as a threat, or as strong, the size is a point of ridicule but also a point of tactical advantage for him. If they don't take you seriously they don't see you coming for them, do they? Add the label of "psychotic" which is also thrown around in contempt, on the edge if being a slur by some characters and there you go. He's not seen as strong, he's seen as a train running of the tracks, about to crash in a nearby town.

There are only a few that know better, as it usually is in life, which, proper advantage. I would say the only reason Andrew was on parole with the requirement for medication after he almost killed those 4 guys who attacked Nicky before the first book happens - instead of being locked up for it instead - was due to his size. If he was a big guy he would be treated much more harshly, especially with his previous criminal record.

Another thing this point brings up is how I read a couple posts in the past, where people thought it improbable that Drake managed to get Andrew concussed and at his mercy so easily in the Thangsgiving scene, since Andrew is supposed to be so strong. (This isn't criticism, im just giving my own outview)

Be that as it may, size does matter. Andrew is strong and dangerous for many, and he could best probably most of the people reading this in a fight no sweat. But you know what's the reason for that? He's prepared. He actually knows how to fight. There are scenes in canon and ec If im not mistaken, that bring it up. I've been trained in martial arts since I was 4 years old (on G-d no cap) and I can, and did, manage to take down many guys twice my size and strenght because of that - but that's because I was smarter, or quicker, or my technique and endurance was better. Andrew spars, Andrew has training while most people don't. Just because a guy is twice his size doesn't mean he actually knows how to use his body weight to land a solid punch, doesn't mean he has the instinct and proper form to block a fist coming at his side thats gonna push all air out of his lungs. So yeah, against people less trained than him, he has a chance.

But Drake is a marine. He has extensive training, worse - he has the tactical advantage of surprising him, and worst of all - the force of trauma that comes with being suddenly attacked by one of your worst fkn horrors. It's a ambush and he has every single ace up his sleeve. I've been in a situation like that once, so I can imagine the complete and utter short-circuit Andrew's brain must have gone in in those precious seconds that would give him an even chance against Drake. But then, Drake is as much a physical as psychological horror, and it's no wonder the fear that brings make Andrew spiral into dissociation as a coping mechanism.

End of the triggering stuff!

In the end, though, safety in my opinion is about more than physical strenght. Sometimes it's just having someone by your side even if there's no chance of making it to the other side. That type of support can make anyone keep going. And I think that more than anything else is what Neil sees him as. He is, to make it cliché, the lighthouse bringing him to the safety of shore in a midnight storm. (I will shut up now bcs the fever must be getting worse if im saying shit like this).

You'd rarely be apart, he'd always have a hand on you and if you had a class separate to him or you did have to be away from eachother, he'd make sure you were wearing his sweater or shirt so that you wouldn't really be without him and other people would know you were his.

🥧 It would be a ride or die, you and him against the world kind of love and he'd remind you of that all the time. "Nobody understands me like you do, nobody understands you like i do, its just you and me babe, youre all that matters to me in this world..."

He doesn't realise what he's done but Billy and Randy are just "Its called sensitivity man, try using your brain every once in awhile..." "yeah man girls don't really like it when you joke about cheating on them..." "Moron..." "what she knows I'm joking?" "yeah she seemed real entertained fuckrag..."

🍒 So he rolls his eyes, dramatically sighing before following after you, shouting for you to slow down, you know digging himself a hole in his endearing way.

🔪 When he gets to you he wraps his arms around you tight and rests his chin on your shoulder, hugging you from behind so that you can't escape...

🍒 At first he's still joking with you, layering it on thick, begging for your fogriveness but you can tell its still all a joke to him... But it isn't a joke to you

🔪 He realises he's gone too far when you start crying and his whole demeanour changes, he would immediately stop laughing, spin you round in his arms and hold your face in his hands looking at you with all the seriousness in the world (or as much as someone like stu can muster at any given moment)

🍒 "Hey baby don't cry i was just joking around with you baby girl i was just joking you know i love you..." he'd carry on talking like that, drying your eyes and kissing your face wherever he could until you stopped crying.

🔪 You sniffling "you shouldn't fuckin joke about that shit..." "well why not baby, you know I'd never give you up for anyone or anything you're mine forever..." when you just look at him he realises... You don't know that, you don't know just how much you mean to him... So he says it again.

🍒 "baby girl you are mine forever." he'd hold you tight against his chest cradling your head with his hand, pressing you to him and kissing your forehead. He'd just keep saying it until you understood.

🔪 And from then on he doesn't make as many of those dumb jokes. Instead he acts extra possesive over you, wanting to spend every moment with you reminding you that you're his. Forever.

🍒 It would be sinister if he wasn't such a goof...

🔪 He gives you his necklace to wear and tells you never to take it off, it will remind you that you're his and it'll show everyone else that too.

You’ve always had a special relationship with him, Simon’s always been softer with you than he is with anyone.

At first you thought it was because he thought you were weak, since you’re new to the 141. Like if he didn’t protect you- you’d compromise the mission and get yourself, and others killed.

But you *thankfully* realised that’s not true one day, while having a conversation with Soap and Gaz.

"Come on, y/n! Are you honestly that dense?!” Kyle exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air in frustration.

“What?!” You shot back, sinking down in your seat. "You’re both just teasing me" You sighed.

"No, lass, open yer eyes" Johnny sighed, shaking you dramatically.

And you did, you began to notice how different his behaviour was towards you. And thus, you asked him on a date.

Simon was frozen, his eyes wide a bit when you did. He had liked you for a while, but could never confess to himself that he did. He was scared to lose you, and if he loved you, that meant one day he would.

But when your eyes patiently wait for his answer, looking up at him with the same eyes he fell in love with, he sighs and says "Sure." a bit too rough. (but thats because hes in disbelief that you actually asked him)

You smiled and decided to plan the date specially for him.

He doesn't like crowds, you've discovered that one day when the boys and yourself went out. You want this date to be enjoyable for him too- something memorable.

You planned him a picnic in the woods, under the stars. A blanket is laid out in a clearing, fake candles lit. Over the years you've remembered Simon's favourite food and drinks, and made sure to get them all for him.

Simon is speechless as he stares at the sight, before slowly looking at you.

"You did this, for me?" He asked in his belief- shocked how much effort you put in for him.

You smile and nodded, "All for you!"

During the date, Simon would try to get to know you better, asking you questions he never knew about you before.

Johnny isn't fond of dogs- but he does like cats, and he knows you love these fluffy adorable creatures.

He pays for the whole date and doesn't allow you to, hes a gentleman, who wants to make a good impression on you.

As soon as you both enter the cafe, you fell in love with all the cats. Especially one black and white one called Elara. She reminds you of Ghost, and Johnny agreed.

The whole date is filled with laughter and cat cuddles, Johnny buys you some delicious treats (which one cat steals, it was funny watching them fight, you were rooting for the cat)

It was a very cute sight, watching Johnny cuddle a cat. His favorite was called Maxine, a ginger cat.

You took a very cute picture of them- using it as your wallpaper on your phone.

At the end of the date, you kissed. It was definitely one of the best dates you've ever been on.

I see Price as not being the one to ask- hes a busy man, no time for romance.

But when you ask him, he goes against all that, and says yes.

He plans it, he has to. He planned your date the moment he knew he fell in love, and he wanted it to be very memorable and special.

He tells you to pack your bags, for a weekend away. You nod, still processing whats happening.

And when the weekend comes, and he sees you all packed, John can't help but smile. He plans to have a lot of fun, and of course, make sure you do too.

You had no idea what he has planned, but you weren't expecting this-

A trip to see the Northern Lights-

You hug him tight, tears forming in your eyes. You once told John you wanted to see them a very long time ago- it came as a shock that he remembered.

He rented a cabin too, a perfect view to see them all night. (You got lucky and it showed for a long time)

John got you a gift too, a bracelet to wear. It's plain back with a hint of blue, perfect to wear all the time. You love it, making a promise to never take it off.

He also packed some food, to cook at the cabin. You decided to help him, laughing as you joke about his cutting vegetables skills. "You know, I've seen Johnny do better" you giggled, remembering the time he cooked at base.

John lets out an amused huff. "That also the time he set toast on fire?" yes it was.

After dinner, you both cuddle by the fireplace, its warm and you feel safe and right in John's arms.

You lean your head back and kiss him, happy to finally be able to love him.

I believe Gaz is the youngest in the team, that being said, he most likely doesn't have a lot of romantic experience.

But he deserves so much love, and you've fallen hard for him!

It was definitely a shock to him when you asked, and he quickly snapped out of it, happily saying "Yes!"

You both planned your date, wanting to do something fun and new.

Thats when you suggested stand up paddle surfing, and Kyle agreed, already thinking of all the mischief he will cause-

A few days later, Kyle rented some paddle boards, packing them in his car to drive you both to the beach.

The drive was fun- both of you singing to random songs that come up on a playlist, while telling jokes.

Kyle rests his hand on your thigh the whole way.

Once at the beach, you both got the equipment out, rushing to the water. You're so excited for this, knowing you both need a well deserved break.

Kyle definitely stays shirtless on the beach he did it on purpose

As soon as you got in the water, Kyle helps you on your board before he tried to get on his, you laugh hard as he fell in the ocean- screaming when you nearly fell.

"Think that's funny, huh" He laughed, shaking your paddle board. You scream as he does, trying to hold on for dear life.

He chuckles and stops, pulling himself up on his board. He paddles with ease, standing up like his came natural for him.

You on the other hand, were having a hard time. "Struggling, baby?" He laughs, bumping his board on yours.

"Pffft no!" You snorted, clearly lying. He smiles and gets on your board, holding your waist tight to him.

"Stay calm, yeah? I got you" He whispered in your ear.

You nod, a blush appearing on your face.

The rest of the date went well- it was so fun- especially when you both started play fighting in the water.

Afterwards, you cuddle on the beach, watching the sun set. You admire the view, while Kyle admires you.

When you notice he's looking at you, you smile and place a gentle kiss on his lips- to which he happily accepts.

Alejandro

The most romantic guy ever- he asked you.

Ever since he saw you, he was head over heels. He wasted no time in asking you on a date, a bouquet of black roses in his hand.

He did everything for this date- he cooked dinner and baked desert, decorated his garden and table full of flowers and lights, and even got you a present- a beautiful necklace that he put on you.

To say you were spoiled, is an understatement.

When you first enter his home, he gently grabs you by the waist and kisses your forehead. "You look absolutely beautiful mi amor" He smiled.

He looks and smells really good-

When you enter his garden, your eyes widen in shock, it is absolutely beautiful.

Ok Andy this had been on my mind for a while now and I really want to hear your thoughts on this!

So we all know that Shouto is pure husband material, the kinda guy you'd be proud to introduce to your parents! But yk all those years of abuse and trauma (our poor bby ;-;) would definitely take a big toll on anyone, right?! So I was reminiscing about the earlier episodes where he is all closed off and cold to everyone, and that really got me thinking... what would dating Shouto REALLY be like.

How much of his behavior in a relationship really be affected by his past? Ofc us being his partner would change things, but he DOES lash out at times. The police officer hadn't yelled at them, he was just explaining what they did was wrong according to the law (which could be unfair but thats his job) and he straight up called him a slur 💀 (well yk in this society where so many ppl have animal related quirks it probably is a slur? Btw none of this is to paint him as a bad person or partner because of a few shortcomings or his trauma. Also obviously people change over the course of time and character development and all that, but we see even after the MASSIVE amounts of character development Bakugo has he still retains a lot of his previous qualities and obviously still struggles with a few things. Yes!!! I have so many thoughts about this, particularly as someone who also has daddy issues and a hot temper but actively works to be better as well lol.

I do think for the most part we've really seen Shouto move past who he was in those earlier episodes. That is not to say he still doesn't have those feelings, but he arguably manages them in a more regulated way. He has the temper but now he also has the tools and the perspective to better articulate himself.

I think generally Shouto would work hard to be calm and patient during an argument, but as with any human being, mistakes will be made and tempers will spike. I think during particularly bad arguments he'd get more closed off, like in those earlier episodes, would try to go off by himself so that he doesn't explode with that white-hot rage.

I do think, thankfully, that Shouto's ability to show empathy and compassion even in the middle of what we know are the most emotionally trying times of his life (the fights with Dabi), bodes well for his future ability to communicate and regulate himself on the whole. I do not see him as the kind of man who would yell or break things; I see him as the kind of man who now does everything in his power not to be like that.

And also with a face like that, would we not just let him win any argument anyway?? LOL

Im not gonna lie, the start kinda had me like "This is what I waited ages for?" But then when the animatronic testing came around, thats when my interest truly started to pick up.

First of all, WHY WOULD YOU TGINK THAT FACIAL RECOGNITION FOR ANIMATRONICS IS A GOOD IDEA??? GENUINELY DID NO ONE HAVE THE COMMON SEMSE TO GO "HM, THIS MAY END NOT GOOD". Like I kind of understand the appeal for it because they may want the kids to feel,, more connected to the animatronics?? I dunno. But like?? I can understand for that time period the desire to have the animatronics interact with the audience (Not saying its a good idea but at least I can understand with this one why they may think it is in my head), but cmon..

Then from what I remember, the sprites came. And Good god did they creep me out slightly when I first saw them, especially Edd and Molly. I dunno, there was something extra creepy in my eyes seeing kids' faces messed up like that. Crazy. I also screamed when I finally saw "Bon" because Ive been keeping up with the Twitter TWF community somewhat, which means I already technically knew about "Bon". It was pretty cool to have him finally introduced in the actual story himself. Also Charles and Susan talking about Felix's addiction and if they should tell Rosemary and Jack(?) is crazy.

Aaaahhh but then the scene with Jack came around. Was rooting for him ngl. I honestly thought he died at the well scene but I dont see any correlation to that quite yet,, mayhaps. Felix almost jumping did make me feel a tiny bit bad for him bit like,, still. Fuck you Felix. I still hate him and 100% think hes getting what hes deserving. He feels guilty? Good. He should.

I cant remember if the Susan scene comes after this or not but I erm uh,,, That was VERY well done!! It gave me chills how you could still hear her breathe. Genuinely. The blood as well and Rocket closing their eyes?? Crazy. The jittery animation drove me insane, it was such an amazing detail that made things far more uncomfortable.

I cant remember where abouts the other Felix scene came but,, HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH ROCKET. I DUNNO,, DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN TAKE IT WITH YOU?? PUT IT IN YOUR HOME OR RESTAURANT?? WHY DID YOU THINK THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA. I SWEAR, MY GUY HAS NEGATIVE BRAINCELLS... But I also think we all know why he's so attached,, him getting haunted by the kids is wild.

The last scene very much makes me think "Bon" is Jack. I unno, very much could be wrong but just the way he talks and is dressed makes me think he is. The fact that he knows so well of what hes talking about and the voice,, maybe the general face shape too. Me thinks its either Brian(Ive saw that theory floating around) or Jack, but Im more leaning towards Jack. It also freaked me out slightly the way Susan came on all deformed too, that was freaky. The voices of all the characters in this new afterlife were very VERY cool too. And the whole mask being given and "Bon" talking about making her "beautiful" too? That was cool. The scene with Edd and Molly debating whether to save Susan too filled my heart with a weird sort of awe. They have a great relationship as siblings together imo, I do very much love their dynamic.

It'd be cool to see the other two episodes for the finale which I think are coming out very soon!! Which is very exciting!! I 100% reccomend TWF4, it's phenomenal and the wait was 200% worth it in my eyes. You can definitely see the developers heart and soul being put into this project, which is very nice to see. In my eyes, you dont see it often. I dunno if I missed out a scene or two from my rant but overall? I adored watching this (Ive already told some of my friends to watch it >:3).

NightSun has been written in a way that makes its so it would be extremely horrible for them not to break up.

Like, it’s written kinda like the whole “fell first, fell harder” trope except it’s not cute and they shouldn’t be end game.

Of course, the ship starts with Nightheart definitely caring more about Sunbeam than she cares about him, maybe she thinks he’s handsome and gets a small crush on him but she doesn’t actually think about him as much and he thinks about her.

He gives up his clan for her, although there are very clear bigger reasons for this, really he’s just being a petty brat.

But in this time, she starts actually liking him, so when he gives her up for his clan, she is angry at first.

But she just can’t accept it, so she joins ThunderClan. We never see any ulterior motives. We only see her being glad she left after she saw the state of ShadowClan.

Thats the first big problem. Nightheart gave up Sunbeam for his Clan and then Sunbeam gave up her Clan to be with Nightheart.

And immediately afterwards, Nightheart gave up Sunbeam once again. Temporarily but still, he left her when she needed him most, yes, it was important but she would still have a right to be unhappy here.

And this whole time, yes, he worries about her, but we see that he is in her thoughts much more she is in his. While I doubt this was on purpose by the authors, it’s still something I noticed.

The Erin’s have set up a relationship where people are rooting for them breaking up. And it would be so easy for them to. They wrote it in a way that makes a breakup EASY. Yet I have a feeling they aren’t going to break up. 

I agree, I would be ok if they stay together but it’s written in a way where it would feel more fitting to me if they broke up.

Nightheart wanted a way to escape ThunderClan and Sunbeam was a way to do that, him getting away from ThunderClan was his primary motive here. Meanwhile with Sunbeam, initially she was just giving Nightheart a shot because he was so persistent, and she had just been rejected romantically and was very hurt by it, Nighhtheart feels like a rebound.

Of course it could all work out, they could actually start to communicate and work on their relationship and keep it maintained though healthy communication. And that would be a good message in itself, telling kids that (sorry for quoting SU here) “love takes time, and love takes work”.

But also it feels like without that communication and work it is doomed to fail, they feel more like friends to me. It would also be a good message I feel, especially in a series such as warrior cats where 98% of the time you have one single love interest forever and where relationships almost never dissolve without someone dying, that a great message could be “it’s ok if a relationship isn’t right, you can care for someone and appreciate them but you can’t force love, and it’s ok if someone you’re with isn’t going to be with you forever.”

Warrior cats just has this Uber monogamous thing going on where you pick someone, and then you’re married forever until death do us part and everything is sunshine and rainbows in the relationship. There are very few characters who have just broken up with someone, and usually there is some very bad blood between the two. Crowfeather’s Trial fixed Nightcloud and Crowfeather’s animosity but it still very much existed in the first place. It would be nice to just have two characters who realise they aren’t right for each other romantically and part on good terms and remain friends.

ohhhhhhhhhmygod okay.. I finished! I am all caught up and I have... FEELINGS! 😭 Mostly, I just want to take a moment and say that I LOVE Theo, and I think he deserves a moment of appreciation. Yes, that's right. This man deserves some recognition for the hard work he put into bettering himself and being there for this family.

I get it.. he fucked up.. I mean, he fucked up BIG time. But he worked on himself and he worked on his relationship... and I just want to point out THIS moment... when Dustin was in the hospital, he'd woken up but wasn't himself and Theo was right there by his side through all of it, making sure everything was taken care of (the best he could) and... I just... this line got me "like every other shitty thing we've been through, we'll figure it out together, okay? always together." 🥹 For me, in that moment, he proved that he is worthy of Dustin, and I may have cried a little.

I know he has his faults, and I don't know what's to come in their future, but I'm rooting for them! 💖

he fucked up A LOT and he has in the recent past which we will definitely be getting into but hes not a bad guy or evil. i think with theo the thing is that he tries to give excuses anytime his actions have consequences and back then he started to see that. especially when dustin was in the hospital. granted his stress wasnt the only stress that dustin was under but it definitely did not help things with his health at all. theo stepping down and not running things because he wanted to prove that he was faithful had an adverse effect. dustins like just control your dick,man and come to work lol. but if theres one thing steady is that no matter what these boys have gone through. no matter where they stray. they always came right back together and thats something theos never had before. sure he had marlee but marlee also had jami when they were married lol. this is the first relationship hes been in that is just FOR HIM. and hes attempted to ruin it countless times i think he just doesnt know his worth . maybe he thinks dustins too good for him. probably still does but theres a reason why dustin stays. and dustin himself does not have a squeaky clean past and i think with how 'broken ' they are.. they see 'why' the other does the things they do. which makes it easier to just kinda fall back in line. they always figure it out together <3 no matter where they are or what theyre doing.

nows a unique situation. theos a lot older. dustins taking on more responsibility with not just the teenagers but the two new babies they chose to have. theos kinda end of life crisis-ing out because i think he realized how big of a dickbag hes been. theyve also gone through a lot in the time jump.

I'm curious, wdyt about Imperium now that s1 is over? I asked a similar question when part 1 aired, but I wanna see if you've changed your mind. Ik a critique you held was that Ninjago never seems to go too far with exploring anything like this (and with MotM I recall you mentioned smth ab not liking the "one bad king" thing, so I'm also asking b/c recently Doc did confirm Imperium was still a bad place before Beatrix, it's just she made it worse) so do you like how they handled Imperium? Or do you think there was more they could've done?

I have my own minor nitpicks but overall I feel like it subverts a lot of other media (and also previous installments of Ninjago) by having Imperium's totalitarian/fascist nature be a more deep-rooted issue than just one evil ruler. (Also love how they didn't just have every single person turn on the Empress, and Sora's parents remained scummy. It's more realistic lol, and if anything MORE people should've been pro-Empress I feel.)

Well I don't know if I'd say my opinion has "changed" so much as "evolved now that we actually have the full context of the season," since last time I answered an ask about this it was when we only had half of it.

To be honest I would still stand by my assessment that ninjago never really goes too far irt digging into like harmful social structures and whatever, and I don't really expect it to. It's just not that kind of show, and that's fine. I also stand by my criticism that it should have been... a little harder for Sora to become disillusioned with Imperium to the extent that she did? But I will give with further context it makes a lot of sense that she empathized with a caged creature being tormented quickly, since we now understand her parents really did not ever care for her beyond her use as a way to gain prestige.

That being said, I think overall Imperium improved LEAPS and bounds over Shintaro. Mainly because, as you said, its clearly been bad for a long time because of a longstanding, corrupt ruling class, rather as the result of one shitty ruler. If anything, I kind of admire it for letting me be right about Beatrix not seeming very fit for her position, and in fact I think thats one of the more interesting aspects of the season and what it has to say about Imperium's philosophy; A society that functions in such a cultlike, controlling fashion will inevitably breed deeply jealous, prone-to-violence, but ultimately ignorant people who will fumble the power they hold in disastrous ways. Beatrix's betrayal of her family to gain hold of the throne basically doomed Imperium to crumble the moment anyone was willing and able to push back.

It is also definitely good that there's not a universal acceptance of the loss of Imperium, especially considering the distrust sewn was more towards Beatrix than towards Imperium as a whole. (If I'm honest, I think the "beatrix spills everything live on camera" bit was a little goofy even if its the most efficient way to get a big turnaround in the general populace, but what is ninjago if not goofy). Realistically I think there would be a significant chunk of Imperium citizens who would disown Beatrix but still regard their past emperor in a godlike fashion, and attempt to rebuild the society as it was at some past point. I don't really know that the show will continue to explore much else about Imperium and potential pushback against change but the fact that I'm unsure rather than POSITIVE it will never get back to it is a big plus for me (thank GOD for DR actually having cross-season plotlines!!!!).

Overall I like most of what they did, its not prestige television but its the best ninjago's ever been with social commentary and that pleases the cal.

More unfortunately, I think most of the collapse of bipartisanship on Israel, and turning it into increasingly a Republican issue, was the result of personality and ego clashes between Obama and Netanyahu. The former was the best president in my lifetime and the latter did a pretty good job as PM until late 2022, but the two men just haaaated each other. Viscerally. Personally. And each of them magnified each other's worst aspects: Obama's sense of himself as a post-political avatar of change, Netanyahu's unstoppable douchebaggery and lying and general FoxNews-iness. Obama charged stupidly into the Iran Deal - his own version of the Iraq War, resting on false assumptions and applauded by false experts; Netanyahu then spit in Obama's face by attacking the Iran Deal on the floor of Congress.

There is an excellent overview of this time in the PBS documentary "Netanyahu At War." I think it is as honest and unbiased as any piece of reporting on Israel I've ever seen - and because it's PBS, the whole thing is available for free. Everyone reading this blog should watch it.

George W. Bush and Jacques Chirac also hated each other, personally. Each of them had staff members who recognized that the U.S. / France relationship was important enough that their personal feelings could not be allowed to get in the way, so the relationship was delegated to underlings and the two primaries rarely spoke to one another at all. That should have been the model for U.S. / Israel from 2008-2016. As is, things were set up for a split even BEFORE Trump came in and made a lot of high-profile moves in favor of Israel, and we are nowhere near seeing the full extent of the pain and damage that the mainstream Jewish community is going to suffer because of that poisoned pill.

OH also as u can tell i finished mythic quest. season three was... dissapointing. brad and his gaggle of autistic women were great as always and Sarian was an AMAZING episode, 10/10, no notes, but the season overall? ian was MIA and poppy just... didnt really work without him. dont get me wrong i love her and she has great dynamics with the rest of the cast but overall grimpop was a HUGE missed opportunity and making dana ian 2.0 was a poor choice. dont get me wrong, i was rooting for them to team up in season two, but thats because i thought ian could give her what she wanted, not because shes identical to ian. shes certainly not so up her own ass that she thinks "confidence" and "total disconnect from reality" are the same thing. ian? definitely. rachel? unconsciously. but dana? no fucking way. she never felt like she had a unique place in the grimpop team. minimizing the scenes with her and rachel i would have actually loved to see if it helped give both of them more depth and solo development since their romantic relationship was built up as their main character arcs from the start, but dana just took away from ian and poppy's dynamic and didnt get any development of her own until basically the very end.

now, dont get me wrong, AGAIN, it makes a lot of sense that ian doesnt want to work on poppy's game. hes egotistical and unmotivated and childish and self centred. but they seriously waited until the season fucking finale to work that out? a conflict between the two main characters that has one of them just... absent from the narrative? conflict is the core of poppy and ians relationship but if they don't have any scenes together the conflict becomes BORING. and they had the perfect opportunity to work it out! when hera failed. when the playtesters told her it was technically perfect, but not fun to play. ian makes fun games. ian is really good at making fun games. theyre supposed to be partners. why couldnt he have helped her with this? why couldnt this have been the moment where she realizes that, just like ian, she needs help creating her vision? that even though she can build things and have big ideas, she cant do everything all on her own all the time? instead she and dana throw her vision away to focus on a project she hates and thinks is bad. its total fucking bullshit and a complete waste of an arc.

which, as a side note, i still dont totally understand the difference between hera and playpen. theyre both sandbox games, yes? where the point is to build something yourself, entirely from scratch? so what makes playpen fun and hera not? is playpen more customisable, is it easier to control? is hera too difficult, is it not difficult enough, is it too bare or too micromanaged? this feels like something we couldve gone into instead of just tossing hera out. there are tons of games like that out there already. minecraft, the sims (all FOUR installments, plus simcity), cites:skylines, roblox, all of them extremely popular and extremely fun. why not hera? again, a question the narrative gets out of answering by throwing the game out.

and FINALLY when the grimpop dispute does get solved, their solution is "you be who you are, and ill be who i am, and neither of us changes or improves or alters our dynamic in any way"? what a FUCKING cop out. the previous seasons, so far, have ended with poppy and ian trying to mend their dynamic into something more stable and mutually beneficial, where both people (poppy, mainly, but having it be her game this time SHOULD have been an interesting subversion) feel seen and heard, where neither of them feels subservient. you want to watch the next season to see how they develop and how their dynamic shifts. but in the season 3 finale they just straight up tell you, in the show, that they're done trying to change, and then they abandon their partnership and go back to work at mythic quest. season 3 was such a wasted season in terms of the grimpop dynamic, and neither of them develop any kind of compelling relationship with the other characters either. the closest we get is dana, who, again, is turned into ian 2.0 because apparently they couldnt develop her existing character any further or use the actual ian grimm in any of her scenes with poppy. again, dana and ian have similarities, but shes not ian! and she shouldnt have had to be!

im sorry this is such a long ask i didnt expect it to be 😭 but im curious about your opinion/what discussion there is to be had bc i listen to a fair amount of rap but im not the most knowledgeable on the history and nuances of it all, and then of course im nonblack. but would you say the problem with white rappers in terms of gaining recognition in a genre not built for them carries over to other nonblack poc? because i think about it every so often especially growing up in a city with such a heavy nonblack latino presence, its like… complicated. because on the one hand the black american and latino-american communities have always been closely linked both with black latinos and nonblack latinos, like thats a whole other lecture on american racial identity, so i could see how many nonblack latino rappers are coming from a different place than the “i want to be somewhere i wasn’t already” place a lot of white rappers come from.

but at the same time i see the popularity of rappers like lil pump and 6ix9ine (not to mention how horrible they are otherwise) who so obviously want to pretend there’s zero difference between them and a black person, who have an obsession with saying the n word as if that somehow ever applied to them, and it just reminds me of the nonblack latinos i grew up around who would do the same (often influenced by those two even). thats not even mentioning less explicit versions of this, like when they had becky g rap for a (vaguely indigenous latin american) league character who they suddenly gave darker skin and larger lips wearing clothes and a hairstyle that originated in black communities. and then im not even going to start on ppl like kpop rappers or aquafina.

like i dont claim to be the expert on all this but it always came across to me as so off-putting and strange, and when these rappers pop up getting success (especially among other nonblack poc who also want to pretend there’s no difference between them and black people!) it just puts such a bad taste in my mouth so i could understand why even when it comes to the nonblack rappers who are usually more respectful and avoid shit like this the want might be there to just put the focus on BLACK rappers alone, the ones who so much of the time (considering like total amount of black vs nonblack rappers) get way less recognition than nonblack ones despite it being a genre they literally invented by and for themselves. again im sorry that was so rambling 😭 but im just curious if you have any opinions on it or anything to add to the discussion as a like… better voice to listen to then me and my vague thoughts LOL

ugh I read the demo a couple of days ago and it was so good! As someone who's an aspiring writer I love the way that you understand your characters so well and how well fleshed out they are. I was wondering what your process behind creating your characters has been like and if any of them came before the story. I know you also mentioned something about writing character studies from their own POV on your main blog, I would love to know more about this. 👀👀

So funny you ask but Seven actually was the first character I thought up. The story came first but they were the first RO that came to me. What's super funny about that is that originally, Seven was supposed to be a very typical asshole. Like true, true enemy to MC. Just downright rude. Just...like a villain, basically. They were meant to be the 'villain romance' of the story. Blake's personality was the personality Seven originally had.

And then, when I started answering asks and really just thinking about the character, I ended up (hopefully) creating someone more nuanced and sensitive. I started seeing them less as a trope to fulfill and more as just a multilayered human, which is why I feel like I know them well now. They can be an asshole, yes, but they are also sensitive. But they are also abrasive. And kind. But also rude. But also honest. And sometimes not even honest at all. I'm really glad people asked a lot about Seven because I would've hated if Seven panned out the way I originally planned. It would've felt cartoony and I feel like with how Seven acts, it would've made them hard to root for.

Orion was the second and I knew instantly what he was going to be. I feel like he's the one that very much fits into a trope most blatantly, but my job as a writer is to subvert that. so fingers crossed shsjsjs

This applies to all the characters, I think. When I create a character, my first thoughts are:

-- What do they want most in life

-- what do they actually need

-- why they want it and where did that desire come from

-- how do i make them achieving it as difficult as possible

and I go from there!

Anyway, what I said above applies to all characters but it definitely applies mostly to Victoria as well. She is so...torn, and I have to remind myself that her entire route is just conflicted feelings. Sometimes it's like she's two characters in one, fighting over so many emotions and thoughts she can hardly organize.

As for the character studies, they're basically what scenario asks are but as a group. My favorite character study: BAR FIGHTS.

If you have trouble knowing your characters, write them in a bar fight. Who is the one who starts it? The one who tries to stop it? The one sitting and having a calm drink as chaos spreads around them? etc etc

An author showed this to readers and it has helped me so much. Once you put them in a scenario like that, you really learn how they function lmao just throw them in the most far-fetched situations and let your writing run amok, eventually you'll find yourself saying, "wait no thats out of character. xxx would be doing that" or vice versa

For character studies from their own POV, I then write a scene and put myself in their head and see how they feel. The bar fight example, what do they think while it's happening? are they worried about the damage? worried about people getting hurt? why? why do they care? it's just questions like that hahaha

Still, even I feel like i'm not an expert yet on my own ROs. There's been many times I answer a question and then I have to shelve it because I feel like I'm completely off-base and have no idea how they'd act. They start to feel like real people, and with real people, I don't know everything. I HOPE this doesn't sound obnoxious or pretentious hshshs it's just sometimes my characters become bigger than my own writing and i have to sit back and really think about who they are

Hi ! I read your post about the mischaracterization of batfam members, could you expand more ? And how do you choose which characterization is "the right" ? I feel like comics are so old that first characterizations are too simple or over used.

I WOULD LOVE TO EXPAND MORE but please keep in mind i havent read batfam comics in a HOT MINUTE but lets gooo.

for starters, the way i personally choose which characterisation to follow is the one that is most consistent within comics, which can be tricky, ill be the first to admit. but if your character basis is off of a headcanon you saw on tumblr/a thing you saw in one comic, you are bound to be just. holding onto nonsense.

now lets talk about how characters are talked about, characterised, and seen within fandom.

lets use dick grayson, aka nightwing, as an example. in the current comics, and in fandom, he is often depicted as the ray of hope and sunshine always happy in a gritty dark world. while this may be true to an extent to his character now, it certainly wasn’t the case when he was first becoming nightwing, and as robin. so many times i see batfamily fics set during the time where jason has just become robin that depict dick as the happy go lucky guy that loves everyone and is a ray of hope and love all the time. in reality (ha!) he was angry, he had just been fired as robin was constantly fighting with bruce, coming to terms with his emotions and feelings about being a vigilante, and dealing with interpersonal relationships. he was by no means acting all happy and sunshine. he loved jason, yes, but he certainly wasn’t hanging around wayne manor idly cracking jokes with bruce. however, as he grew into the nightwing title, he became more mature and less broody, but was still definitely a bit angsty and angry. definitely not the way hes often portrayed by fandom.

moving on, lets talk about jason. this is where comic characterisation really fucks up today. everyone, including fans and writers alike, love to present the idea that jason todd was “the angry robin”. from his first appearances, we KNOW this isnt true. he was full of love for life and adventure and enjoyed school a great amount. he grew up on the streets and had somewhat of a temper, yes, but this was usually to do with people who did great harm to others (for example, the ring at the beginning of death in the family) not because he was actually full of rage always. he was traumatised, yes. but full of hate and rage? definitely not. 80s comics are in that sweet spot where dialogue and storylines are darker and more serious, so its safe to count on jasons robin run as a pretty good place to reference jasons character as robin.

now, with tim drake, he is often depicted by fans as a coffee addicted technology genius mad scientist type character. i have so many problems with this for so many reasons. firstly, shut up about the coffee for the love of rao it has no basis in canon at all. secondly, although tim is talented and intelligent, a concerning amount of fans (and writers/comics, im looking at you, detective comics 2016) looove to say and depict tim as being “the smartest batfamily member”. this is just. so false that it’d almost be funny if it wasnt rooted in sexism (and perhaps ableism). that title will ALWAYS belong to barbara gordon. id love to go into detail about why people treat barbara gordon as second rate to tim but i think thats gonna be for another post. also, tim is literally a high school dropout!! as for the mad scientist thing, PLEASE read any other comic than red robin for your basis of tim drake characterisation. that depiction of tim is because of a very dark time in his life, he most definitely is not like that all the time 24/7.

cassandra cain’s fanon characterisation is probably one of the things about fandom that pisses me off the most. in fics, shes portrayed as this mute girl that loves batman and all his methods completely and has never disagreed with him ever. truthfully, as shown in her batgirl run during the 2000s (read it its so so good) cassandra cain is an 18 year old who has limited speech due to being raised without any spoken language whatsoever. instead, she was raised as a living weapon designed to kill whoever david cain asks. shortly after she kills her first person she is horrified, fleeing to the streets and eventually coming across barbara gordon who decides to take her in and give her the batgirl mantle. she then encounters a psychic who is able to give cassandra the ability to understand and speak english. her speech is short, often shown as short direct sentences sometimes with ellipses when she cannot think of and/or verbalise a certain word. however, she loves to talk and express herself and read books, even if it is difficult for her. for these reasons, i would consider her to be semi verbal and neurodivergent. as for being portrayed as The Biggest Batman Supporter Ever, in her comic run she is often seen directly disobeying batman, and has said point blank that she isn’t loyal to him, but to the batman mantle and symbol itself, taking the no killing rule extremely seriously. although she is one of the characters to obey the no killing rule the most and in its entirety, she most certainly isn’t bruce wayne’s/batman’s biggest supporter nor does she agree with everything he does or even his methods. that title would probably go to damian wayne, believe it or not (again, for another post) but, for these reasons i also consider cassandra cain to be the best choice for who gets to inherent the batman mantle.

this post is getting way too long but uhh those are my thoughts and feelings on certain batfamily characters and how they are mischaracterised by fandom and sometimes comics! i hope u found this informative lol.
